Iba and Ask the Experts, joinedin studio this morning by Josh gow Witch.
Of course, Josh comes to usfrom Legacy Exteriors the website Legacy dash
exteriors dot com. That's Legacy DashExteriors dot com. Tell for number six
away two two one three thousand. That's two two one three thousand. You
got all your Christmas shopping done?Josh? No, you really no,
I haven't been started. Oh it'shardly Christmas Eve. I should say,
(00:32):
I've got to. I've purchased acouple of things. That's talking to autumn
Bombas. You know Bamba socks.Anyone in your family wear those things?
Uh? That is it? Isthat similar to Boomba? I don't think
so, Okay, could be.I don't know. I was from Bombas.
They're like, is all they makeof socks? They make socks,
they make underd Yeah, they makesocks and I think underwear and T shirts.
(00:54):
So you're gonna take out I'm notfamiliar a mortgage on your home to
buy socks. Yeah, they arevery expensive for socks, but they are
really good socks. Do they doubleissues? You? Hope? But I
don't think so. Of these wouldn'tnecessarily recommend it, but they do kind
of effectively double as slippers. Interesting. So hopefully hopefully Kayla doesn't have that
(01:15):
on our list because I have notheard of it. Okay, good,
good, No, it's like HolyCow talking this morning of course with Josh
cowit's owner of Legacy Exteriors. Thewebsite Legacy dash Exteriors dot com. That's
Legacy Dash exteriorsct dot com. DOLBwhat over six away two two one three
thousand. That's two to two toone three thousand. And you think about
(01:36):
looking at houses and driving around andseeing all the beautiful decorations for the holidays,
the Christmas lights and the and theyhave you. You're seeing a lot
of sighting out there, and folksare thinking like, how could I make
my house look beautiful like that? And we're gonna talk a couple of different
things this morning. We'll start offtalking about James Hardy and and big time
(01:57):
siding manufacturer. A very unique product, isn't it. Yeah, it's definitely
unique. It's a it's obviously anupgraded sighting. It's you know, made
of cement, cement based products. So if you have problems with woodpeckers out
there, James Hardy will solve thatproblem. But for many different reasons,
(02:23):
I personally love you know, JamesHardy and what they have to offer.
Not only do they offer it likeyour your traditional like lap sighting, but
you know Borden Batten's you know shakescalps. I mean, they have so
many different options out there because youknow, one of the hot trends out
there is mixing materials, yeah, and and mixing it up on the you
(02:47):
know, whatever kind of architecture youhave on your house, there's a maybe
a different product that's going to gothere. So but they also have what's
called an architectural collection, which isreally neat. So they have a lot
of different panel options, you know, fine sand, fine sand, grooved.
(03:10):
They have one that is called mountedsand but it looks like stucco.
Oh really Yeah, And they alsohave a new one that's come out this
year called Seagrass, which is prettyneat. Basically it's a panel, but
it's got like finally grooved a lotvertical lines in it. Oh it's uh,
(03:34):
it's going to be you know, you're not probably gonna use it on
the whole home type thing, butentry ways and a little bump outs things
like that that might be a spotfor it. It's it's a really neat
looking product. And then as faras if you if you just want to
get away from say, uh,you know, traditional lap and you want
something different, they have a lotof different they're calling it the arteas and
(04:00):
so they have like a square channeland ship lap and V groove, so
a lot of different just looks, you know. In that lap sighting you
mentioned James Hardy being kind of thatupgrade. That's kind of that step up
when it comes to siding, andyou mentioned you're dealing with woodpeckers or other
things. We're talking cement here,so we're talking about literally putting a super
(04:24):
hard, super durable, super longlasting material on the side of your home.
I've got a guess that that aswe talk about all the beautiful things,
there's also the practical things of havingthat that extra layer of protection around
your house. Yeah. I mean, some people, you know, when
they're going through our process, asfar as they woodpecker issues are a huge
(04:49):
part of it, especially if somebodyhad you know, maybe traditional wood siding
on their house or even regular stucco, and wood peckers can do a number
on the on a home. So, uh, that becomes a priority for
someone. And there's certain sighting manufacturersthat will not you know, warrant against
(05:13):
you know, woodpeckers or woodpecker damage. Uh. So if that is a
priority for someone, you know,James Hardy would be the product that I
would say, definitely look at becauseyou know they will offer that protection against
woodpeckers. And I mean, atthe end of the day, it is
cement. Yeah. Is it heavierby the way, for your guys when
they're when they're hanging this stuff, are they is this the stuff that like,
(05:35):
oh, we're going to get towork out today? I mean,
is it Is it a heavier productthan say some of the other like vinyl
and other things out there? Oh? Definitely, yeah, Yeah, it's
definitely. Uh. And you know, different blades are needed in order to
install it, different processes are neededto install it. But when it's you
(05:58):
know, you say you compare itto other special sightings, it's kind of
this same deal. But for instance, on one siding manufacturer might have sixteen
foot links, you know, JamesHardy's twelve. But the nice part about
James Hardy you don't have to leavespacing. You can actually butt it tight
(06:18):
because there is no expansion in contraction. With James Hardy, We're other products
you definitely have to allow for thatexpansion and contraction. Does that help with
darker colors too? I think, you know, I think of as I
look at them, the trends graysand especially dark grays I've even seen and
I know we've talked about this somehowses, even going as far as to being
black, is you think about thatheat if you're using a product like James
(06:42):
Hardy, it's no longer it's nota factor because that cement is just gonna
it's gonna stay in place. Nowyou go with some of the type of
material, the flex is going tobe extreme or the expansion and contraction's going
to be pretty extreme, isn't it. Oh, you are exactly right.
So black trim, black sighting, and dark grays are so popular right now.
(07:03):
So if you are thinking of that, look, I would definitely,
you know, take a look atJames Hardy. I would you know a
lot of things that you can dowith it, Like say you want that
black trim, look, well, maybe you go James Hardy for your trim,
all your trim and then if youwant to, you know, save
a buck, you can go withVinyl sighting for the rest of the house.
(07:27):
But you still have that, youknow, the beautiful black trim that's
not gonna move, that's not goingto expand a contract. But the nice
part about James Hardy is you canhave not only any look you want because
they offer so many, but anycolor oh really, oh, custom colors
is right up their ally. Soif you have a specific blue that you
(07:49):
want that you can't find anywhere else, James Hardy will custom make it for
you. Is that color inside thecemeinter Is there like a layer of like
a like a baked on layer ofcoloring or how do they how do they
do that? Yeah, they'll,they'll, they'll they bake it on in
house and and it's painted by JamesHardy in their facility. It's not you
(08:13):
know, third partied out, whichis which is nice. And and then
also a nice part about James Hardyas well, is is they warrant each
individual piece. So if if ifthere is something that's going on with the
home that needs warranted, they takecare of it. But but a nice
partnership James Hardy has had and I'msure a lot of listeners out there are
(08:35):
familiar. Are it's called their Magnoliahome collection gains is yeah, rees and
ship gains. I don't know ifanybody has heard of those people. I'm
told they've done well for themselves. That explains why they got ship lap.
You mentioned that there's there's definitely aship lap and uh as autumn Pole pointed
(08:58):
out, a lot of a lotof grays, a lot of grays very
popular for a lot of grays,a lot of blue grays, a lot
of green grays. Yeah, yougot options, you got options. You
like that. Look, it's agreat start. And they're black is is
you know midnight soot? So it'snot black? Not No, it's customer,
it's custom it's customer talking is runningwith Josh cow Its owner at Legacy
(09:20):
Exteriors website Legacy dash Exteriors dot com. That's Legacy Dash Exteriors dot com.
Great data talk siding or anything outsideyour home. Maybe you're thinking spring,
you're thinking, oh, it'd begreat to have an additional like a three
season, four season or a pergolaor something great like that as well added
to your house. Today is agreat day start that conversation at Legacy Exteriors.
I'll just pick up phone g McAllsix awaight two two one three thousand.
(09:41):
That's two two one three thousand.Talk about some other signing options.
We'll also talk here. Josh mentioned, of course at Legacy Exteriors they work
with a number of different manufacturers, different products. They are of the the
highest certification on all of them. We'll talk about mixing and matching and how
that process works with the details fromJosh next as ask the experts with Legacy
Extiar continues right here on thirteen tenwuib I on the first day of Chris
(10:15):
on the tree. I don't thinkand you don't have to worry about two
turtle doves. No, no,you're sighting. By the way, guys,
if you're listening, No, womenwant like three dozen birds for Christmas.
Just don't do that. I haven'tseen that on any of the shopping
No, No, there hanging outthis morning. Josh cow It's owner at
Legacy Exterior six O eight two twoone three thousand, that's two two one
(10:39):
three thousand, website Legacy dash Exteriorsdot com. That's Legacy Dash Exteriors dot
com. And Josh before the break, we start talking about James Hardy and
their smarts are the the the sidingthat they have, And of course we
talked about the Magnolia line and someof the other other things. But you
had mentioned to maybe mixing and matchingdifferent manufacturers different types of products. And
that's what really cool advantages you getwhen you work with legacy exteriors is the
(11:03):
fact that your teams are not onlyfantastic when it comes to James Hardy,
they're fantastic when it comes to allthe recognized by the manufacturers, all the
different products. You guys have thehighest certifications and are very much heavily endorsed
by the manufacturers because of the greatwork you do, which allows you guys
to do some things that not everyonecan do, which is mix and match
(11:26):
different products and make sure it's doneabsolutely right. So we were talking about
James Hardy a little bit more ofan upgrade, kind of a very n
I shouldn't say kind of. Itis a premium, very nice product.
Sometimes folks say, well, maybewe want to do James Hardy in this
Hilarrea or that area, but wewant to do maybe LP smart Side or
some other type of product round thehouse. You guys can help folks design
(11:46):
that, can't you. Yeah.I think that's the beauty of you know,
our initial process of you know, interviewing and see exactly what the home
owner is looking for out of theiryou know, in this case we're talking
about sighting, but just they're proudto In general, we do offer so
many different options and every option hasa different, you know, price point,
(12:09):
So we like to maybe you wantthat one of a kind custom look
and do some custom features and touches, but you want to be very budget
friendly, and so we have totake everything into consideration as when it comes
to designing that home. But stillgiven the customer that look they want,
(12:31):
but come into obviously under the budget. They want to ask you about LP
smart side there we talk about bigI mean, that's that's kind of the
LP smart side is I mean, percentage wise, it's got to be a
pretty pretty good chunk of what youguys are installing these days, isn't it?
Or Am I off on that? No? I think especially their trim
yea, they have a nice varietyof trim and like eye sighted my house
(12:58):
the year and I mixed and matchproducts. So actually I chose LP smart
side for all my trim because Ilove their outside corners in particular. And
then as far as I did somelap, some shakes and some bord and
batten and all of that was inthe James Hardy fiber cement. For folks
(13:26):
that wonder about I think sometimes peoplewonder like itcnow and not economically, like
environmentally some of the stuff people say, well, what about this you were
telling me, like LP for example, And I know that they've got a
major presence here in the state ofWisconsin. That's a big part of what
they do is making sure that thatthey're that they're and again, at the
end of the day, the bestproducts is the one that you put on
and never have to worry about again. Never ends up in a landfel never
(13:46):
runs up anything like that high quality. But they also even like the manufacturing
price processes, they're very mindful ofof not creating waste and making sure that
they're being as ethical as possible.Yeah, and so sustaining. So you
know, all the bark they usefrom their trees when they when they manufacture
their project, they actually use allof that to heat their facility. And
(14:11):
they are very you know, environmentallyconscious which I think is important. But
yeah, so too different. Wewere talking about it, like James Hardy
and LP Smart Site both great productsand both manufacture in so different ways.
(14:33):
You know, one requires you know, kind of a lot of staff and
one requires hardly any staff. It'sjust a it's kind of neat to watch
the two processes. Have you gota chance to kind of and I know
you spend a lot of time intraining and that, have you had a
chance to kind of take a tourof the facilities and check out the different
ways these things are manufactured. Yeah, So we toured James Hardy, which
(14:56):
is in Illinois, actually very closeto my hometown and I never knew it
was there, but yeah, andthen we you know, the LP Smart
side, one of their plans isin Tomahawk, Okay, so which is
you know, pretty neat as well. So they're both extremely close. Yeah,
(15:18):
and we've had the pleasure of touringand watching their priceses and and you
know, they're both companies are alwayscoming out with whether it's a new design
or a new way of doing things, They're always innovating. That's really cool
stuff. As we talked with JoshGoawitz this morning, owner at Legacy Exteriors.
It's a great time a year tostart that conversation, start working on
(15:41):
that design and that plan, getthat stuff put on for you in the
spring, and of course make surethat you're taking care of your house is
looking absolutely fantastic. Oh, Igot to do this morning to pick up
po gam a call telephone number six, so eight two to one three thousand,
that's two two one three thousand, and oh, I was just wanting
to say, so we were talkingabout how you know James Hardy and is
(16:02):
as far as a cost perspective,is more expensive than vinyl. Sure,
I think we all know that. But one thing to take in consideration is
you can actually lower your insurance cost. Oh really compared to vinyl. Yeah,
because fiber cement is actually hail damageresistant and noncombustible. So in a
(16:23):
lot of different cases you you're it'llreduce your insurance premiums. We're not gonna
beat that either. And anybody that'sseen what's going on with insurance right now,
that is a huge, huge thing. That is for sure. It's
a great day to give them acall. Legacy Exterior six away two two
one three thousand, that's two two, one, three thousand. The website
Legacy dash exteriors dot com. It'sLegacy dash exteriors dot com. Josh,
