Open up the chain on WVa Madisonof the morning and ask the experts hanging
out this morning with our good friendJosh Cowlet's own our Legacy Exteriors, who
provided the WHOA this morning? YouBen Man? Good? How are you?

(00:26):
I'm doing really really well. Iplugged you in somewhere different this morning.
Does everything sound okay? Yeah?Look at where do you turn up
the volume on this? Oh it'sthat's a whole rigamar role. That's why
I don't typically is it okay?Is it? We're gonna leave it right
there. Okay, it's good tosee you and uh and we've got an
interesting time of year. It's calledspring in Wisconsin, and you never know
what you're gonna get day to day, hour by hour, minute by minute.

(00:49):
In some cases, we're gonna talkabout this time of year and the
importance of knowing your contractor who's doingthe work on your property. And of
course I'm working with great folks andwe'll talk with Josh about that in the
meantime. The website yet, Ineed you to check them out online.
Legacy Dash Exteriors dot com. That'sLegacy Dash Exteriors dot com. Dolphin number
six O two two one three thousand. That's two two one three thousand again.

(01:10):
The website UH Legacy dash exteriors dotcom and Josh Let's um Let's first
off, talk about this time ayear and when it comes to working with
like, for example, you've gotstorm damage, you've got an issue with
your room for siding or something likethat. UM, you're working with your
insurance company. You want to makesure that your contractor and your insurance company

(01:33):
are all on the same page. But also you want to make sure that
the people doing the work are thereto really advocate for you and for your
house's needs, because there can bethings that and I'm not saying that I'm
not blaming insurance companies necessarily, butthere are things that can be missed or
things that can be misunderstood. Havinga team that understands roofing and siding and
that type of stuff and does aday in and day out that's really helpful

(01:57):
for a homeowner, isn't it.That part of it definitely is helpful UM
and it can speed along the process. It actually could put the homeowner in
a in a more better spot longterm. Somebody that's going to advocate on
their behalf somebody that speaks, um, the insurance language, if you would
say. But I think what's importantas well, and maybe it gets overlooked,

(02:20):
is have picking a company that youactually heard of? Yeah, right,
like that it's been around, maybeit's in the area. The problem
with you know, storms, itbrings storm chasers, and we've been getting
a few calls lately of you know, hey, this person stopped by my
house. You know, they're fromprevious customers, so they call us this

(02:44):
person stopped by my house, umand said I might have hail damage.
And you know, in more timesthan not, we have just never heard
of those companies. Um. Sothat that should draw some you know,
some red flags. Um. Andwe're not saying that storm chasers are bad
companies, but they're definitely just notlocal. Yeah. Um. So they

(03:06):
might do the work, maybe youhave an issue down the road and guess
what they're onto the next storm andsome other part of the country. Yeah.
Um, so they're not going tobe there to maybe fully service you
and you guys. What's interesting tooabout about construction remodeling, Um, those
type of things is here in DaneCounty, here in southern Wisconsin, whether

(03:28):
it's through different different events, thosetype of things. The established guys,
you guys all know each other prettywell, and oftentimes when certain projects,
maybe it's something that that doesn't comeunder others under somebody's purview, will actually
kind of work together to make surethe job gets done right. You guys
have um a shared interest in qualitywork and providing good, good service.

(03:51):
Um. When you start seeing namesand businesses that you that you judge don't
recognize, that should be an immediateright. Yeah, that's a that's a
I mean, you know, Idon't know how many years ago, it
was maybe ten years ago, butstorm chasing, we had a really big
hail storm here in the Madison areaand affect a lot of homes. A

(04:11):
bunch of us actually got together andformed kind of our own commercial about and
I think there might have been tenor twelve of us in the area about
some of the problems that kind ofrise with storm chasers and choosing a storm
chaser, and we kind of allthe local companies kind of banned together in

(04:31):
support of not only each other, but in support of you know, homeowners
and them choosing someone local that's goingto be there not only during the storm,
but years and years after. Butyeah, this is a very close
knit, um, you know communitywhen it comes to the construction field.

(04:53):
So there's gonna be certain things thatwe get asked to do that we obviously
don't do. So we have companiesthat we work with on a daily basis,
whether that's you know, inside work, obviously we don't do. We
don't get into inside work, butthere are companies that we work with and
that we refer for that type ofwork and vice versa. We get referred

(05:17):
you know, say it's a masonarian chimney stuff. A lot of roof
issues come up when they're doing thattype of work. So we get referred
all time for and stuff like that. But yeah, I would say that
construction in the Madison area is notnecessarily as big as people might think it
is, and it's a very closeknit community. Talking this morning with Joshka,

(05:38):
it's owner at Legacy Exteriors, thewebsite Legacy dash Exteriors dot com.
That's Legacy dash Exteriors dot com.Delphin number six O eight two two one
three thousand, that's two two onethree thousand. You're gonna want to write
that number down as well. Um, I will tell you this because if
if Gosh forbid, you end upin a situation where you have hail damage
or anything else like that, makesure you get them out to take a

(05:59):
look at your house. Make surethat they're one of the calls that you
call to have your house looked at. In Josh, I think a lot
of us wonder. As a matterof fact, I do. I've learned
the answer this morning, but Iwant to share this. How do these
how do these storm chasers know whereto go, where to be those type
of things. There's tools out therethat they're everybody's using, that they're using
to kind of exploit that situation, isn't it. Yeah, so we we

(06:21):
there's a lot of tools at ourdisposal. So as soon as um hal
maybe over an inch hits anywhere inthe country, we get alerts on it.
Um. For instance, this uhI think it was was a April
nineteenth. Yeah, yeah, someare in that neighborhood. Um, we
instantly got alerted that brook as faras the surrounding a nearby areas Brooklyn,

(06:47):
Cambridge, Jackson, Cedarburg, Bellevilleand New Glaris and Stoughton got hit with
one inch or above hail. Ohwow, So um and that is going
to be more than likely. Itcan be damaging for not only to all
your soft metals possible, you're sightingpossible your roof. So if you're in

(07:10):
those areas, call having inspection doneand if there is damage, we will
take pictures, we will bring itto your tension and we can work directly
with your insurance company. We've donethousands upon thousands of claims. We work
on the same computer systems as theinsurance company, so the process should be

(07:34):
quick and smooth. And what theprocess usually is, if there is damage,
we'll bring it to your tension andthen we'll set up a time for
your insurance juster to come out.We work directly with them. We go
over the whole property together and thendetermine what's the best case scenario to put
that homeowner back to where they shouldbe. And one of the things too,
as a homeowner you got to rememberis, and you talk about the

(07:56):
quality of work that you guys doat Legacy Exteriors, you really have one
chance to get this right is ifyou if you go with somebody that's unheard
of, that that quotes you orwhatever, and whether they complete the job
or not, let's say that theycompleted and I'm using air quotes, they're
out of here. A year ortwo from now, you start getting a
leak in the roof or something likethat, the insurance company is saying,
listen, we paid for those repairsalready. That's that's on you. And

(08:20):
that's another thing too, is asa homeowner, you want to make sure
you have that chance to to repairand get things done right using your insurance.
You want to make sure that you'reworking with somebody that's that's that's here
for long haul and that does qualityrepairs exactly. There's been a lot of
different scenarios where and maybe the contractorputs that homeowner in a bad spot or

(08:43):
doesn't get everything approved that they shouldhave gotten approved. Or let's say the
other scenario, homeowners just ignore itright, they get they have damage,
and they don't get an inspective, they don't get it repaired, they don't
get it fixed. That actually coulddevelop more damaging leaks over time, because

(09:05):
those hail will impact that roof andthe granules we will release and will affect
that roof system down the road tothe naked eye. We may not notice
that, we may not realize that'sbruising. It could be broken the back
of the shingles. It might notbe visible just by looking at your roof.
You might have to go up thereand physically feel, maybe maybe lift

(09:26):
some areas. There's a lot ofdifferent techniques and scenarios that we go through
and that our guys are trained onto spot hail damage areas. That's a
great thing too. If you're inthose areas, you want to have your
house checked out. Maybe you're concernedabout something, or maybe you're saying,
you know what our neighbors was saying. We're saying that they had some damage,

(09:48):
or maybe you heard some of theareas that Josh just mentioned. It's
a good day to get them outto have them take a look at your
house to make sure everything is okay. And again, if repairs are needed,
get a quote, get an estimate. They'll work with your insurance company.
They'll get the job done right.I'll get to pick up phone gam
a call this morning at Legacy Exteriorssix o A two two one three thousand.
That's two two one three thousand. The website Legacy dash exteriors dot com.

(10:09):
That's Legacy Dash Exteriors dot com looksin our conversation with Josh, we
will do that next as ask theexperts with Legacy Exteriors continuous right here on
thirteen ten w ibat ten wiba andask the experts hanging out this morning with
Josh Gowit's owner at Legacy Exteriors. The website Legacy dash Exteriors dot com.

(10:31):
That's Legacy Dash Exteriors dot com.Tell phone number six o A two two
one three thousand. That's two twoone three thousand, And Josh, real
quick too, is we talk thisweek about um storm damage those kind of
things. One of the things Iknow about you is you want to be
just one of the calls. Isyou just want to you want to have
a chance to explain to homeowners alittle bit about about what maybe going out

(10:54):
with the house. There's no highpressure sales, there's nothing like that.
As a matter of fact, youguys don't don't write an offer on spot.
You say, we're gonna go throughthis stuff and we're gonna go we're
gonna work through and see what allneeds to be done and then we'll get
it to you later, which fora homeowner is it's a great peace of
mind. There's no pressure there.Yeah, there's zero chance for us to
pressure on the spot. Yeah, because we're never even gonna know what that

(11:16):
price is going to be on thespot. So, um, the way
our system works on an a normalestimate, obviously, our our guys will
go out, see what you wantto have done, talk that project over,
and then take our eight pictures ofthat house, and then that's gonna
put that house into a three Dimaging process which enables us to um,

(11:37):
you know, swap out the sighting, swap out the roof color and and
and really see what your home isgoing to look like before we ever do
anything. But also it gives usevery single measurement on that home and we
take that all those measurements and implementit into our estimating system and then it
will price out an exact to thepenny estimate for that So it's never gonna

(12:01):
be done on the spot. Sothey don't have to worry about, you
know, the high pressure tactics andnever gonna leave your home type type of
type of stuff we hear, wehear horror stories about, but um,
it's it's by design. Um one. We We're gonna get um everything we
need to get done on that houseand UM and and another part of it

(12:22):
is we don't want that high pressure. We don't want to be known as
that company. UM. And thenon the flip side of the insurance part
of it, UM, you werenever going to do anything until the insurance
it gets full approval on whatever thatproject is. So there's a there's a
chance, you know, we wego go to the home and there's no

(12:43):
damage at all. So obviously thatwould be no obligation of any kind of
the homeowner, you know. So, uh, it's two different scenarios.
Whether you're looking to have you know, just a regular home remodel where that's
roughing, siding, windows, gutters, decks, UM, or you want
a full inspection because you you thinkyou might have had hail damage. Is

(13:03):
there is there two when we talkabout that scenario. Are there times where
where the insurance people may miss somethingand you're like, hey, wait a
second here, this this needs tobe replaced as well? I think of
you know how complex roofing systems are, is UM. There are things that
that I've got to I've got toimagine you guys are able to see and
pick up on that. Oftentimes theinsurance. People may not may not even

(13:24):
realize that happens all the time. One thing that is extremely common is we
talk how it goes together. Sosay citing for instances, you know,
they might approve one side, butwe have to take maybe take off a
corner to replace our both sites toreplace that corner, do it right?

(13:46):
Yeahah, So like once we explainhow the stuff is going on together,
we might get more approved just basedon how the install process goes. Does
it also help when it comes to, you know, doing these type of
storm damage repairs, is you mentionedthings like siding, and I know in
roofing the same deal and everything else, you guys are are of the highest

(14:09):
standards of all sorts of different typesof roof different types of siding. Um.
I look at homes these days andoftentimes, as we've talked about people
mixing and matching, having that expertiseis okay, there there may be somebody
we just do this one one name, We just do this one type of
asphalt shingle and that's it. Whereasat Legacy Exteriors, you guys work on
the asphalts, you work on brandnames we've all heard of. You guys

(14:33):
work on metal roofing. You guyswork on um um um rubber roofings,
thank you, Yes, flat roofum that's got for a homeowner. Two,
that's got to be a great benefithaving that that all in one expertise
to to really get that get thatrepair done the right way, regardless of
the materials. Yeah, and notonly for roofing, but you know siding

(14:54):
as well. We're at the highestlevels of the manufacturers for not only you
know James Hardy sment board, lbe smart Side, all different types of
vinyl um. But a lot ofpeople don't realize as how many window lines
that we are involved in um SOand for windows for storm damage. Let's
say you have a um you know, a wood window with an aluminum cloud

(15:16):
outside. If if a hail impactsthat aluminum cloud outside you you actually can
get that whole unit replaced, ohum, because it'll actually what's the problem
is is that hail could actually impactthe glass package itself and those gases are
going to release um SO. Inessence, the window is going to fail

(15:37):
and you probably won't notice it untilwinter when those gases are gone. Condensation
and stuff in there. Anytime gasesare released, never a good thing.
No, there's a rule of thumbwindows cows anything. It's never never,
never good, never good. Talkingthis morning with Josh Gallants and Legacy Exteriores,
