Eight thirty seven thirteen ten Wiba andask the experts. Hanging out this morning
with a good friend Josh Gawit's ownerat Legacy Exteriors, the website Legacy dash
exteriors dot com. That's Legacy DashExteriors dot com. Tellph number six to
eight two two one three thousand, that's two two one three thousand. Season
is upon US sports season in baseballspecifically, and uh, talking just about
(00:30):
some of the great places and someof the travels. Uh you're gonna be
going to in the recent in inthe months ahead and the day's ahead as
well. And uh, are youone of those guys that when you're driving
around, are you constantly looking athouses likes not to buy them, but
looking at things like they're siding andtheir roof. Yeah, yes, yes.
I I annoy my wife by sayingwe did that house, We did
(00:51):
that house, and she's like,I don't care. Yeah, it's like
that's fantastic. Or you're looking tosee if, oh that that house needs
a new roof. Oh the housecould use new sightings. It's baked Indias,
it's pretty sad. I just can'tget away from um. One of
the things too, I know, and especially this time a year, all
homeowners as they're pulling up to you, you're pulling in your driveway, should
(01:11):
be looking up and looking at thatarea right at the bottom of your shingles
known as the gutter area. Anduh, and be really observant about what's
going on there because gutters and andand for people who don't know, gutters
are very important to everything when itcomes to your house, aren't they.
Yeah, it's not They're not fordecoration, no, yeah, they're They're
(01:34):
very important obviously water abasement, keepingthat um, the water that comes off
your roof, getting it out awayfrom your foundation of your house, so
you you know, obviously don't haveleaks in your basement or crack foundation.
Um. But yeah, they're extremelyimportant and they need to be clear and
free of debris otherwise they're obviously notgoing to work um as designed. So
(01:57):
I always say that, you know, gut are designed to fail. Yeah,
you know, because as soon asyou get something in them, the
peeds of water from getting out theway it needs to, and then you
get you know, overfull problems orthey eventually will clog up and your downspouts
and then then you have a someproblems on your hands. So when we
think about things that are designed tofail, there's some very smart people out
(02:21):
there who come up with really reallygood ideas that work really really well.
Is there something out there, Josh, as I think about, I don't
ever want to clean a gutter.I don't ever want to have that issue.
Is there any solution for that problem? Yes? And we happen to
carry it. Yeah. Yeah. It's called master Shield Gutter Protection. UM.
(02:43):
It is by far and away thebest gutter guard I have ever seen.
UM. It's about as one hundredpercent effective as it gets UM because
not only will it keep out allthe debris, actually you can't even put
a human hair through it. That'samazing. So openings are fifty microns big
that allow the water to get throughUM and it goes through a surgical grade
(03:06):
stainless steel filter. And also inthat filter because obviously you don't want the
top being clogged with um, sediment, algae, you know, things of
that nature, so they have threecopper ribbons woven into it, which eliminates
you know, algae and mold growth. So it'll keep that filter clean on
(03:27):
the top as well. That's andthat's amazing. That's we talk about just
some of the some of the Imentioned really smart people who come up with
this stuff. Is that that additionto to the to the master shield really
does. It's it's more than justhey, that's a that's a really nifty
feature. It really does make ahuge difference as far as overall performance.
(03:47):
One of the things too, Ithink is really really interesting about master shield
and of course installed by Legacy Exteriors, is the way that it fits with
the roofline is the way that it'sdesigned. Um let's talk about why that
is and why that's such a moreeffective approach to to keeping water in your
gutters and other crud out. Well, if you if you think about imagine,
(04:10):
you know, leaves are coming offand they're falling on your roof,
they kind of roll down the roofand then they you know, fall into
those gutters because your gutters kind ofact like arms. What we're doing,
essentially, or master shields doing,is we're going to install in between the
starter strip and first roach shingle andthen match the pitch of the roof and
(04:31):
clip onto the front lip of gutter. So essentially what we're doing is adding
another layer of shingles over that gutter. But our layer shingles that we're adding
allows twenty two inches of the rainper hour to enter that gutter and it'll
keep out your shingle grid and obviouslyany debris and so and with that angle
you mentioned how much water is ableto be to be brought into into the
(04:53):
gutters, it also then allows forthe debris you mentioned, the grid and
the leaves and our things to gotheir own way, not just sit up
there. They come right off.Yeah, there's I don't know even know
how many patterns they have. Theyhave a ton of patents, but one
of the patterns is self cleaning technology. So there's a couple other filter systems
(05:14):
on the market, but the problemwith those are the they might keep out
debris out of the gutter, butthey will allow debris to sit on top
and dry out. And so theyactually will give their customers brushes so you
can clean the tops of them, kind of transferring the mess somewhere. Yeah,
do you want to clean what youjust bought? Is what it comes
(05:34):
down to, And the answer isI would think no. So master Shield
allows the leaves to dry from underneathas well as on top and they and
they don't stick to the filter area, which is making itself cleaning. And
then another pattern that's extremely important. It's called hydro vortex technology. So what
(05:55):
that means is as soon as waterhits the filter, it will start pulling
more water in. So the fasterthe water is coming down the roof,
actually it uses less of the filterif you can imagine that. Interesting,
But it also allows us to youknow, let's say the for all your
viewers at home, Yes, um, the pitch out right now, the
(06:15):
pitch of the roof is here, the water is coming down at a normal
angle. Yeah, and the guttershere. You can keep tilting that roof
until it's a negative angle and itstill pulls the water through the gutter.
Oh really yeah, just pulling thatsection. So like mansart roofs, barn
style roofs, anything like that,it doesn't matter how steep it is,
it will it will pull and captureall that water. Well, when you,
(06:36):
I know, you do a lotof the home shows and the and
the those type of things, andpeople get a chance to see the master
shield gutters in action and actually holdthat you've brought in samples as well.
Um, I don't know that aswe talk about about the filtration that goes
on, Um, it's pretty amazing. I don't know that people realize either
(06:58):
how how rigid and how solid theshield is. I mean, it's this.
We're not talking about something that's uh, this is this is the type
of thing that that literally when youhold it, you feel it's got it's
got some toughness to it. Yeah. And and when you combine the strength
of the roof and then we clipout into the gutter and screw it in
(07:21):
there, I mean, it's notgoing anywhere. I mean, that's why
we warrant it, you know, for a double lifetime warranty. So double
lifetime warranty means that just transfers tothe next homeownerf you ever sell. But
Master Shields warranty is obviously they warrantthat they'll keep out all debris from your
gutters. Um. If not, they actually offer a one hundred percent money
(07:43):
back warranty. Oh real, whichis which is unheard of. I'm sure
you've heard of most of the gutterguards that say, if they don't work,
we'll come and clean them. Sure, you know which is you know,
you realize they're not working in arainstorm and you're having problems with your
house. Yeah, so this thisas as a manufacturer, they're pretty sure
it works or else they I mean, they've been going strong for twenty years
(08:05):
now, so if it wasn't working, they wouldn't be in business. Talking
this morning with Josh Gowitz, ownerat Legacy Exteriors today as they to pick
up phone, give him a callsix O A two two one three thousand,
that's two two one three thousand, and Nikki will actually pick up and
say hello and get you on theschedule. So we're talking this week about
master Shield gutter protection and all thegreat features of that. One of the
(08:26):
great things too mentioned not only themanufacturer, but also the installers. That's
an important thing also as we weretalking about putting some putting some great covers
on your gutters, and Josh, one of the areas too that you guys
are able to do is you cando a gutter replacement as well. If
somebody's if let's say that the gutterson your house are are old and maybe
they were hung improperly. You guyscan help with that also, can't you.
(08:50):
Yeah, we do. You know, we're a full exterior company.
So gutters is up our alley. We have a six inch machine, which
is more i would say for largercommercial stuff, and then we have a
five inch case style machine as well, So we do both. Do you
get people that like, for example, if they've got you know, maybe
a shatter something that that they're concernedwith just kind of making sure, you
(09:11):
know, you've got a garden orsomething, you know, plants around and
you don't want that run off,And people saying, you know, we
just want like a maybe a simplergutter system for some of that. You
guys have that also available, don'tyou. Uh. Yeah, we we
also have rainbarrel systems. Oh,a lot of different options. Yeah.
So with the rain barrels to it, I think sometimes people we were talking
(09:33):
just about all the all the scienceand smarts that go into master shield gutters,
but rain barrels also it's more thanjust a you know, we're not
talking about just a bucket that thatwater dumps into. This also has to
be you know, they're they're alittle more to them, isn't there.
Yeah. I think it depends onhow advance you want your rain barrel system
(09:54):
to be. But um, we'vedone you know, six hundred gallon rain
systems. You know, that's that'ssupporting a very large garden. Yeah,
um, or we've done your justyour normal uh, you know, fifty
gallon rain barrel systems. But wealso will have a downspout attachment that's going
(10:16):
to shove all the water into therain barrel until it fills up and then
it will start using the normal downspout. Um. So it'll automatically recognize
that so you don't have to switchit, because if if you had to
switch it, then you can runinto problems with you know, overflow and
the same kind of problems that yourgutters can result as being clocked. When
you were talking to about you know, some of the commercial applications I started
(10:39):
thinking of like higher roofs, andeven on residentially. You know you've got
one, two, three stories.I see some of these houses with these
you know, with the just thewhich is I love it. It's it's
awesome to see. But um,you talk about another level of of not
wanting to deal with with messy gutters, and typically I would hope that those
people are are aware of what's outthere, but even more so with with
(11:03):
those but also even on the lowerstuff people don't realize there was an inherent
danger to getting up on the ladderand even if you're you know, four
or five feet up off the ground, that's a dangerous job to be doing.
Yeah, I mean, there wasthat ex packer that died cleaning his
gutters. His name is Escaping Me, but I think he won a Super
(11:24):
Bowl with Lombardy, yeah, backin the day. But we've had several
customers that actually got to be customersof ours too late. We had a
guy in Minona that actually fell offhis house cleaning his gutters and he landed
in between these two cars, soyou actually couldn't really be seen and he
(11:46):
laid there for like six hours witha broken back, just cleaning your gutters.
I mean, most of the accidentsyou know that are home related happened
to be, you know, fallingoff a ladder. So it's not and
it's not fun work because most ofthe time when you're cleaning out your gutters,
you're relazing that you have to toolate because you've saw a rainstorm and
(12:09):
you saw you know, your guttersare overflowing. Maybe you're having some sort
of issue, and then you're like, oh, I gotta I gotta clean
out my gutters. So it's notit's always a job that one is disgusting,
it's not fun. But we're alwaysdoing that job too late. You
know, we're not on top ofit. We're master shield. You know,
you put it on your gutter, your gutters will continue to work as
(12:31):
design and perfect and then guess what, you don't have to clean them out
and you don't have to worry aboutfalling off that roof or ladder. You
use that word perfect. Today isthe perfect day to pick up phone game
a call Legacy Exteriors. Get theperfect solution, not have to worry about
cleaning gutters. I have to worryabout issues with your gutters and have it
done over with Talk Nikki this morning. Say I want a perfect master Shield

yeah, that's so we're thinking aboutMax McGee and really Max, yeah,
and that's and it's as we talkabout that, that is it is a
(13:13):
legitimate, serious, serious thing. So um, we're going to talk speaking
of taking things very very seriously. We'll talk about when you work with Legacy
Exteriors, the type of installers andthe team that Josh has on board at
Legacy Exteriors, not just the bestproduct, but the best people as well,
a little bit about their training. In the meantime, we haven't been
to the website Legacy dash exteriors dotcom. Head on over there. Even
more important this morning, give Nikkia call six o A two two one
(13:37):
three thousand at six eight two twoone three thousand. We'll continue our conversation
with Josh. We'll do that nextas Ask the Experts with Legacy Exteriors continues
right here on thirteen ten wibat thirteenten WIBA and ask the Experts hanging out
(13:58):
with Josh Gowit's owner at Igacy Exteriors. The website Legacy dash Exteriors dot com.
That's Legacy Dash Exteriors dot com.Dolphin number six A two two one
three thousand, that's two two onethree thousand. Tis the season, get
that little honeydew list going, andyou're thinking, I really don't want to
clean gutters be done with it onceand for all. Give McCall master Shield
Gutter Protection telephone number six to Atwo two one three thousand. That's two
(14:22):
two one three thousand. Talk withNikki at Legacy Exteriors. Get on that
schedule today and let's talk about theyou're gonna say something, no, I
was just one of the big questionsthat you get about gutter guards is like,
well, they don't they don't work. I heard they don't work,
right, and sure, And Ithink master Shield is one of those products
that because I've seen obviously all ofthem, and some of them obviously don't
(14:48):
work, you know, one hundredpercent of the time, and you can
look at them go well, Idon't get it. I can see a
big gap there, a big holethere. I think master Shield is one
of those proud products that you canjust look at and say, Okay,
that'll keep out debris. That willwork. That's interesting you say that,
because since I've seen master Shield,I don't question it. But I do.
(15:09):
I do understand how people who mayhave you know, you go down
to the big box store and theyget a carton of these snap on covers
and you're like, I did thatonce and it did not. With surprise,
surprise, it didn't work. Andthat's a good point because yeah,
I once you see, by theway, the master shield gutter, once
you learn about it, you're like, oh my gosh, why. I
think our biggest question we get islike, well, of course debris doesn't
(15:33):
get in there, but does water? Yeah, that's true. Know,
And so once you you know, put it on a running water display or
hose or whatever you want to do, and you can see it capture all
the water. It's not a lotof selling there, No it doesn't.
You just go, yeah, itworks, But I want bang. Let's
talk then to you mentioned demonstrations andactually getting a chance to see UM master
(15:58):
shield folks that are are looking forthis. One of the great things is
you have an amazing team, notjust folks that can that can help find
the right product for the for theright issue, but also when it comes
to installation, UM top notch whenit comes to installers recognized by by UM,
by the industry, by the manufacturers. I mean, these are these
are people of the utmost professionalism andhighest standards as far as training and education.
(16:22):
Well, it's funny you mentioned thatI don't I don't want to brag,
but yeah, um, master Shield, since we're talking about that,
we actually literally wrote the book. Our guys wrote the installed book. Oh
really yeah. So and there wasa time where any new dealer throughout the
country would have to come and trainat our facility with our guys. Oh
(16:45):
wow, and then that was themgetting certified. So um, yeah,
we're we think we have great people, but we're certainly recognized by the manufacturers
of having great people. That isI did not know that that is really
really cool. It's and it's andanyone that's worked with Josh the team at
Legacy Exteriors probably not surprised when itcomes to again, when it comes to
(17:07):
kind of the highest levels not onlyof um communication, but also when it
comes to carpentry and building and understandinghow all this stuff works and that training
they've they've just got the best inthe business with the with and this.
The other thing too is sometimes peoplefeel like, I don't know if if
they come out, it's going tobe hard sell and those type of things.
That is not the way you guyswork at all Legacy Exteriors kind of
(17:29):
the exact ops. Yeah, yeah, we we can't give you a quote
on site if we wanted to,just to our system is worked. Um,
So we feel that it's not ahard sale because we don't have to
hard sell it. Yeah, um, not not just our services and our
products. Like once you see theentire package of what we offer and what
(17:52):
we do for our homeowners, there'sno need for a hard sale. So
actually the initial um presentation or estimateif you want to call it, is
when our people come out. It'smore of a kind of a question and
answer feel feeling out what you wantout of your project, maybe design aspects,
(18:15):
whatever a case may be. Butit's more of a question and answer
and interview process and then we willgo back you know, they will go
back home or to the office andput that bid together for you. So
it's it's we hope to have thebid out to you in twenty four hours,
but it's never on site. Isthere a little education as well,
because I think sometimes you know peopleI'll speak for myself, I don't always
(18:41):
know. Obviously, you don't knowwhat you don't know, and when it
comes to things for example like likegutters or signing or moving, I don't
know. As homeowners, we alwaysknow all of the all of the details
and one of the things that that'sbeen great about talking with you over the
years, Josh, has been aneducation, a weekly education about about what
all goes in to this stuff. For homeowners, it's great to have that
(19:02):
conversation because you learn what makes aquality roof, what makes quality gutters,
what makes quality gutter protection. Havingthat conversation is it's, if nothing else,
it's amazingly educational. That's our hopeand goal is to give you enough
information to where you can move forwardand feel good about your project, whether
(19:25):
it's with us or maybe another company. But as long as you have all
the information, you can make asound decision. That's what we're going for.
