Thirty four thirteen ten Wi, bA and Ascar the experts hanging out in
studio this morning with a good buddy. Josh cow Its owner at Legacy Exteriors
online Legacy Dash Exteriors dot com. That's Legacy Dash Exteriors dot com. Dolphin
number six A two two one threethousand. That's six O two two one
three thousand. This song makes mefeel like we should be selling ties at

(00:25):
the mall, like you and I, Josh being like a couple of guys
like hey, can get you ina tie. It's got that. It's
got that as long as we're notthe people that spray perfume in people's faces.
Those guys are the way when youwere a teenagers you hang out at
the mall or you're a little twonot really, No, it wasn't that
guy. That guy hang out ofmore rooms, hanging out in the woods.

(00:47):
Oh man, you had it made. See we got dumped off at
the mall when we were kids.Yeah, it's it's different, a different
world out there. That is thatis I grew up. You didn't really
want to be dumped off of themall. You might not come back.
Woods were the safe place. Yeah, well it's good to see my friend,
and we've got important stuff to talkabout this morning. Specifically, we're

(01:10):
gonna be talking about exterior trends andthe things that we are seeing here in
Dane, counting things that they cando for you at Legacy Exteriors. And
as we talk with Josh this morning, keep that website in mind, Legacy
dash Exteriors dot com. That's LegacyDash Exteriors dot com. Even more important,
keep the telephone number handy six Oeight two two one three thousand.
That's two two one three thousand, and Josh, one of the things I

(01:33):
love about just overall and what youguys do at Legacy Exteriors is the variety,
is the options, is the factthat you're not pigeonholed into one particular
product, one particular design color, one particular palette, one particular material.
Legacy Exteriors, you guys have itall covered and you are at the highest
level for all the different types ofsiding, different features for your home.

(01:53):
You guys have at all And whenwe talk about talk about some of the
some of the exterior trends this year, um, these are things that you
guys are able to do as acompany. You don't have to bring in
other people. These are things thatyou guys often do at legacy exteriors and
do a lot of as a matterof fact around Dan County. What is
kind of the we talk about someof the big trends. What are one

(02:15):
of some of the things that you'reyou're starting to see out there? So,
as you know, I come superprepared for the shows. Yes,
you do always so. Thirty secondsbefore the shows started, we came up
with a game plan. Yes,so googled twenty twenty three exterior trends.
So I got the top ten.Oh, perfect, let's start with number

(02:36):
ten. What's the what's that lowestone on there? The number number ten?
Oh, let's get to it.Here reimagining what your home will look
like, so basically taking your oldhome and completely redesigning it. And on
this picture here they have a picturekind of a of a barn type home

(02:57):
and they've got a ton of multilevel decks and popped in a lot more
windows than what was there. Perfect, you know. So, and and
that actually ties into I think numbertwo is um homes homes with views,
so bigger, bigger openings of windowsthan what was there before. UM is

(03:20):
a huge trend more more viewing spaceof the outdoors. Can I ask you
about that one too? Is someof that and I know, you know,
you guys carry a variety of differentwindows, and windows make a huge
difference in that, but also theinstallation process and understanding how to properly you
know, you don't just want toslap a window in a hole and call

(03:43):
it a day. I mean,there's there's a lot that go you talk
about this becoming a trend. Ithink a lot of it has to do
with the fact that more educated consumersunderstanding what's available out there. But also
you know, having people like youout there that say, yeah, we
can you want to do a morewindows? You want to do? You
want to do a garden window? When you can do like that type of
thing. Is it's almost like whichis driving which, because there's the consumer

(04:04):
wants and Josh, you guys haveyeah, and I think people also think,
well, I gotta stick with thesame size, you know, I
gotta go with the same size opening. And if you want a bigger window
in that wall, we can certainlydo that. It's got to be you
know, reframed and drywall down theinside. But we are not locked into

(04:24):
that particular opening. If you wanta bigger opening, that's certainly up our
alley number nine. Rooftop decks.Oh yes, utilize that flat epedm or
rubber roof and turn it into aliving space. Do you get people that
will like maybe they'll do like agarage or someone like an addition maybe or

(04:46):
someone that are saying, you knowwhat, we've got this space that's that's
already got this flat surface and let'smake use of it. You get a
lot of that. We just didone in Manona. So they had I
want to say, almost like ayou know the flank Frankoy Righthouse, you
know, flat roof, flat roughgarage um and and it wasn't being utilized.

(05:09):
Um So put in a patio door, um in a in a wall
section that opened up to the garagespace which was lower than the home itself,
and uh put a nice railing allthe way around it and turn it
into a pretty big outdoor deck. That is awesome. How much of that,
too, is we talk about whatyou guys do at legacy exteriors.

(05:30):
How much of that is a resultof your ability as we we think of
I think as as as homeowners. We think, oh yeah, I just
put some decking out there, we'regood to go. But you really want
to make sure that that the supportingstructure is right, that the that the
the roofing um, whether it's rubber, that stuff underneath is all good to
go. You guys can handle allthat stuff in legacy ext Yeah, And
I think people when they think offlat roof, they think of, you

(05:53):
know, the old school black rubberum A lot of times in a in
a space like this that we're andgo, and we know we're making it
into an outdoor living space, butit also has to be functional as as
a flat roof. We use aproduct called deck tech Um, and you
can actually get it to look likemarble floors or wood plank um, but

(06:15):
it is a just a much thicker, durable rubber roof system. How high
can a mosquito fly? Great question, because I feel like any time I've
been up like above one story, there's no mosquitoes. I'm just just just
as you're thinking this morning theory.Yeah, actually I do believe it's.
I do think that there is aheight limit for how just saying just at

(06:36):
it's because you're talking about you know, living by the lake and maybe you've
got that that perfect spot in thehouse, you guys just completed. If
you can find a way to kindof get the better views, get some
get some social space, and they'rea great thing too about something like that,
having that that deck space is whata great place to entertain. And
you know what someone has never said, what's that my deck is too big?

(06:59):
Very true? You know, yeah, you are right on. So
that's number nine. What are weseeing at number eight? Uh? So
this is a trend from last yearbecause I remember talking about it. Because
I am not on this trend.Oh no, it's colorful shutters. Oh
yeah, yeah, I remember yeyes, Um this is a live show

(07:20):
in July eleven, twenty twenty three. I do remember. You do remember
that? And uh and I'm justnot on that um particular trend. Um,
but I do like shutters in someinstances. Um. I think five
Pond makes fabulous products that look. You know, they have a lot of
different options with that look like cedar, but you're not gonna have to maintain

(07:43):
them. Um. Number seven garagedoor awnings. Now this I know you
guys do a lot. Yeah,we do a lot of this. UM
and I I personally do like thistrend, like the old um Like,
we have a lot of products thatgo over the garage doors that look like
trellisis. That's a very popular trendUM and I personally love that look on

(08:07):
certain homes with that too. Isthat is that something that's that's um kind
of a if you're looking for away to add some uniqueness to your home,
that's a that's it could be anaffordable option, can't it. Yeah?
Oh yeah, So we talked aboutthis in the past two pipon.
They're just kind of accent pieces forhomes, whether it's interior exterior. Obviously

(08:28):
we focused on the exterior, butum, whether it's you know, wood
beams or pediments or um shutters, anything of that nature. They make a
ton of different options. They havebeautiful trim for around your windows and doors.
You can make uh you know, like the old Victorian, very ornate
stuff. They have all of that. Really yeah, so um a lot

(08:50):
of options for them. Number sixroll. It seems like we're doing a
switch in twenty twenty three, reallygoing away from dark colors to earth tone
colors. Though I'm gonna say goldno no earth tone, which I can't

(09:11):
say that we've seen that trend umhit us here. We're still I think,
very much in the dark. Yeah, vibrant colors. Um, but
it says so it's gonna be atrend. I can see if maybe you
have like a lake cabin or somethinglike that, maybe wanting something that might

(09:31):
maybe like a more natural yeah, like a green or a tan, or
just something to kind of not makeit stand out as much. I don't
know about that. And again itdepends on the house, but I'm thinking
of like subdivision that type of thing. I almost feel like that old school
trend. Yeah, yeah, that'swhat I think too. Umcase always rented

(09:54):
written for this year's trends, soyou can do it. Though, if
somebody says I'm a trend, wehave a nice color palette available. Yes,
um number five, number five rightup our alley. This was made
for you. I think outdoor rooms. Oh yes, that's what I thought
you were going to say. UpSo with the we've talked about four seasons
on rooms, and we've talked aboutthe life room, we've talked about the

(10:16):
options there. You guys have beendoing doing this type of space for a
long time. And then with theaddition of four seasons, it's really it's
really given you guys even more youmentioned the color palette for the for the
previous thing for siding. This hasreally increased your palette as far as just
outdoor spaces, Yeah, I meanwith their flexibility and their versatility of their
product line, whether it's the traditionalthree and four season rooms, to their

(10:41):
their pergolas, to their life rooms, they have a lot of different options
and price points really for anybody thatwants to crease their square footage of their
house but really want to bring thatoutdoor space indoors so you can enjoy it
year round and get away from thosemosquitoes if you're if you're not two three
stories in the air. By theway, are we seeing people with these

(11:03):
outdoor spaces doing maybe multiple spaces? That was saying, you know what,
maybe we'll do like a deck offthe second level, and maybe we want
to do like um, have alittle seating area, maybe even detached from
the house, not necessarily even attached, maybe something detached and doing like a
pergola. Are we seeing people sayingwe want not just one, but maybe
a couple of different seating areas itif it fits the property, fits the

(11:24):
house, fits the budget. Yeah. Absolutely. I think what we see
more times than not is utilizing thatdeck space. Maybe half of it is
a sunroom and the other half isthe open deck, and we're seeing that
time and time again when and everytime we do it. You know,
it's one it's beautiful, but thehomeowners just love it. That is ant

(11:45):
because it tends to become their favoriteroom in the house. They're cool.
Thing you guys are able to doa legacy exteriors is customization of Obviously four
seasons has a ton of options, and we're talking about really amazing stuff,
but you guys can take it evena one step further above and beyond it,
like a six years was the optionsthere as well. Yeah, I
think it's it's it's something that ifyou're even considering doing adding on to the

(12:09):
home for an outdoor space, youknow, give us a call, sit
down with one of our designers andand just go through the process. Because
one it's going to be extremely helpful, but it's you're gonna be able to
see that room or that space beforeit ever goes on your home. In
a virtual reality setting, we hada mandan and you mentioned that, Yeah,
she was showing me just kind ofa quick little demo on her phone

(12:33):
with some of that stuff you mentioned. I mean, I don't think people
really understand like how immersive and impressivethat is. I mean it's a really
it's judge when she can drop atthe image on the table. Yes,
that's pretty meat. This is amazingcool. How are we coming into a
number four for drum Rome. Well, we kind of talked about this with
the number ten windows that emphasize theview. Oh yes, so it kind

(12:58):
of goes with sunroom factor, butdoing on your on your home, but
just opening up that wall and increasingyour window viewing, um space. I
think people really want the outdoors inand and be able to see the outside.
What I think that does for ahome is not only increase your view,

(13:20):
but it really opens up the inside. Yeah, you know, you're
not very you're not closed off anymore. It makes your house feel bigger.
Yeah. So I think that's comingin at number four, and that's number
three. Yeah, this is notreally a shocker, I don't think.
But it's an indoor outdoor flow.Okay, so matching that um whatever you're

(13:41):
design on the outside and kind ofbringing that on the inside. Is that
a big part two of that wetalk about additions like four seasons, sunrooms,
those type of things, is reallykind of tying the two. This
is the house, this is theoutside, but we don't always want we
want the benefits of the outside withthe comforts of the inside and having that
that low between the two. I'vegot to guess that that's kind of that

(14:01):
sweet spot where four seasons really fitsin. Yeah, I don't I don't
think you want to add an additionand make it look like an addition.
You know, you definitely want totie it in and and have it flow.
So we're going to talk about numbertwo and number one. We will
do that next because I want I'm, i'm. These episodes are great ones

(14:22):
and by the way, and oneof the cool things too and uh and
this is a great thing about talkingwith Josh each week here at thirteen ten
WIBA. It's the great work thatthey do at Legacy Exteriors. And if
you're in your neighborhood, maybe you'veseen something at at somebody's house or maybe
you've been at Legacy dash Exteriors dotcom. You see something there and you
go, gosh, I really lovethat look. They'd love to recreate that

(14:43):
and create that similar for you aswell, or exact or make it your
own, your own personal thing. All gout Who's pick up phone? Gimm
a call this morning six to eighttwo two one three thousand. That's two
two one three thousand for Legacy Exteriors. The website Legacy Dash Exteriors dot com.
That's Legacy Dash Exteriors dot com. We'll talk more trends with Josh.
We will do that next as askthe experts with Legacy Exteriors continues right here

(15:03):
at thirteen ten wib fifty three thirteenten WIBA hanging out with Josh Gawitz from
Legacy Exteriors. Home of the sevenday weekend. Get that four season sunroom

(15:24):
on the back of your house everydays a vacation day, right, that's
the way to do it. Andtalking this morning trends left off talking about
at number three you talking about theindoor and outdoor kind of that overall flow
with Josh. For guys we talkwith Josh this morning. Definitely check out
the website Legacy Dash Exteriors dot com. That's Legacy Dash Exteriors dot Com.

(15:46):
Got some ideas, but thinking aboutchatting with the Josh and the team.
They'd love to chat with the augitors. Pick up phone, say hi to
Nikki this morning. Six O eighttwo two one three thousand. That's two
two one three thousand. We leftthe final two, which are the two
biggest trends for twenty twenty three. For last and coming in at number two
is what just something I totally agreewith and I personally just done it on

(16:07):
my own house. Oh yeah,And so number two is mixing textures.
Yeah, so maybe you throw somestone on a bump bump out, maybe
you mix you know, the shakeswith the lap with some boarding batten um.
That is definitely a trend. Andthe cool thing about you know,

(16:32):
when you say you design a housewith us, when we do, when
we throw it up on the bigscreen, you can completely do this without
ever you know, having to justyes and see what it's going to look
like. So we we take thethree D imaging of your personal property and
then we can play with any youknow, texture, type of siting,

(16:56):
any color, so you can seewhat it would look like on your personal
house before you're ever you know, because in years pass it's like, oh
that color might look good on myhouse. Or that product might look good
on my house, and you're justkind of hoping this. You know,
you can throw it up there onyour on your personal property and see exactly
what it would look like before itever went up. Yeah, back in
the old days you were flying blind. Yes, not a good way.

(17:18):
Yeah. And that's sometimes it workedout and sometimes it did yeah. And
so that's a great thing about it. It's actually seeing everything, getting those
great renderings and looking on the bigscreen about how it's going to look.
You make some tweaks those kind ofthings, and I just did this just
nothing to it too. I wentthrough the whole deal like like any other
homeowner would with us UM and itwas great. I you know, I

(17:40):
designed my own house, but Iput some boarding batons in the peak lap
everywhere else. I did the youknow, the different color outside corners and
trim. It was great. Well. What's cool about that, too,
Josh, is is the customization andhaving those mixed mixed textures and different material
is whether you've got an old homeor a new home, it's something that

(18:03):
can really you got the new home, you want to stand out, you
want to really make that house yours. You can do those customizations. You've
got that older house that may needsome updates, you can do those customizations
as well, or just somebody lookingto make their house overall look better.
Adding those different textures and those differentmaterials can really go a long way.
We got we got what we gotabout a minute left to go to Number

(18:25):
one, big old Number one isNumber one is sustainable materials. Okay,
So people want to use sustainable materialson their house going forward, you know,
And I think that's more of awhen it comes back off, they
want a peace of mind that it'sgoing to be recycled. So and you
know, like when we're doing shinglesand reroofs right now, we recycle all

(18:48):
our stuff, so everything's got tobe separated out with the metals in the
woods and the plastics and everything getsrecycled. But I do have a special
I want to throw out. Ohokay, and this is one of those
fly off, flying by the seatof my pants special. So so as
you know, we do a lotof jobs and over the course of the
year, we come up with alot of leftover material. So Tony,

(19:11):
anybody that calls in, whether theyneed a roof or siding, we are
going to for roofing. We aregoing to give free underlayment, meaning the
synthetic underlayment, nice and water.Really, yes, that is yes.
So we probably have enough to dothree or four homes, so if anybody
is interested in a roof, thatwould be a great special for you.

(19:34):
Siding, we have a ton ofquarter inch fanfold insulation board leftover, so
we could throw a free quarter inchinsulation board upgrade onto that siding project.
But you gotta call today, Yougotta call now. Six oh eight two
two one three thousand. That's twotwo one three thousand. That's an amazing
deal, great opportunity for you rightnow. Call Nikki say hi and let

(19:57):
us know how she responds when hetell her about this. Let her know
Josh said it right on the show, and you've got it on tape.
Here's the podcast. Six A twotwo one three thousand. That's six OA
two two one three thousand, todayonly today, only those two specials for
a six O A two two onethree thousand at six O two two one
three thousand. Josh, you'd likeSanta Claus today? Yeah, Well it's

(20:18):
nice. I get to clean outthe shop, but help some people out.
That is the one way to lookat it, Josh gow it's Legacy
Exteriors. The website Legacy dash Exteriorsdot com. That's Legacy Dash Exteriors dot
com. And again take advantage ofthose whether you're looking for the siding and
of course the what's exactly you calledit? Yeah, what about the signing?

(20:38):
You had a term for the whatwas the stuff? It's an insulation
board. Insulation board, I knewit was. I'm like, you see
the stuff folding out and I'm like, what is that stuff called insulation boards?
So not going to beat those deals. Six o A two two one
three thousand. That's two two onethree thousand. Josh. It's always great
