Speaker 1 (00:09):
Hey there, welcome in.

Speaker 2 (00:11):
It is time to talk a little Cowboys football. Nate
getting ready? You know him, Nate, you love him? I
do too, Nate Newton, Holy crap, Nate, You're back from
Oxnard and and the Cowboys are making some moves and

(00:32):
and they've you know, they've signed Lynn bel Joseph.

Speaker 1 (00:36):
Do I take that? Wait a minute, what's the name
of the show, Nate. Let me tell you something, brother, something,
So please tell me.

Speaker 2 (00:48):
Does the signing of Lynn bel Joseph seeing you indicate
that my man from the University of Michigan, my home,
my smith, is just not ready.

Speaker 1 (01:02):
Not yet. I mean, he hasn't shown them enough that,
either through him or the backups that they have in place,
that they feel comfortable enough, you know, So they're gonna
when you don't have that monster in the middle like
we had Hankins last year, you know. And even just
for Hankins wasn't wasn't enough. We need for Osa. Now.

(01:24):
Osa is a good player, and we'll get to him later,
but Maz is a very inconsistent player. Uh. You were
excited the first two or three days in camp. The
as camp went on, he's just the old guy showed
back up, the guy that couldn't get off on the
snapcot the guy that couldn't get his hands right, and
it just did not make the coaching staff feel comfortable.

(01:47):
The defensive line coach, the defensive coordinator is them. They
just don't feel comfortable. They they they don't want to
start this season the way they ended last season, with
Green Bay running through us, with major teams running through us,
teams that are equal to our talent running through us,
you know, and then have a two way goal on defense.

(02:08):
And let me say this right quick, right for those
of you that don't understand what I'm saying, what defensive
coordinators like to do is if you want to throw
all games, they prefer that. If you want to run
all game, they prefer that. But they don't like for
you to be able to have a two way goal.
So they can't set their defenses and they can't be confident.

(02:30):
And then you can get players moving around because they
don't know what they're seeing. They're seeing ghosts. If you
want to run a lot, teams can defense that. If
you want to pass a lot, teams can defense that.
But if you got that sixty sixty forty split or
that forty five fifty five split. That scaries defenses to
death because they can't get set for you. And that's

(02:51):
what the Cowboys have been facing when we play playoff
caliber teams. That's why they are trying to sign mister Joseph.
That's why they went out and got Jordan Phillips. That's
why not so much car lost because I think he'll
be on the outside. But that's why they bring it in, guys,
because they gonna have to do this by committee because

(03:11):
no one has stepped up to the plate to take
this thing over.

Speaker 2 (03:15):
All right, talk to me about Lyn Bell. Now, you
know he was sitting on his couch snate right, so
no other team had signed him.

Speaker 1 (03:23):
That's right. He's thirty five years old. Man. That makes
me worried a little bit.

Speaker 2 (03:28):
Would you please calm the Cowboy fan and me down
to say this dude can still play.

Speaker 1 (03:36):
Every year you'll find twenty percent of this league sitting
on the bench for teams that are in dire straits.
And team Missus Josephin said he'll ramp up. We still
got three weeks before the first game, a little little
bit more than two and a half weeks before the
first so he'll ramp up. He's been doing just enough

(03:58):
so they can get him in shape. We don't need
him for forty snaps. We need him from manywhere from
twenty five to thirty snaps a game, and so first
and second down, shortyardist situations, gold line. You know, that's
about thirty plays in a game where we'll need him
and where we know we can get him on the
field so he can be effective. And so if we

(04:19):
don't need him thirty, we don't need him forty five
fifty snaps like we do Parsons, like we are gonna
need Marshawn the new kid Kneeland, He's gonna have to
play forty and fifty snaps. So you know, So that's
the deal with that right there. If this guy can
come in and be in any type shape.

Speaker 2 (04:40):
Okay, all right, So what does it say that with
two and a half weeks left to go before the
season begins. I mean, you know, a cowboy fan Nate
is going to say, oh, they're desperate? Are they desperate?

Speaker 1 (05:00):
Yes? Society despiration, yes, yes. I mean mister Jones will
tell you, Hey, another dead office. Zim will tell you
another dead office. But I promise you in the meetings.
It's some mfans and some Sonovans and some why you
can't get this guy going this first round pick Mazie.
Why is he's so inconsistent? You know, it's been some

(05:23):
heated discussions now, you know. And so my job is
to coach, and that's if I'm a coach. Zim job
is to coach. But he's gonna be on the scouts.
Give me somebody the scouts saying, hey, brother's no one
out there. This is the guy that's out there. This
is the freshest. Biggest thing is mister Joseph soh the

(05:44):
thing that has always crushed the Cowboys for the last
fifteen years. If you want to beat the Cowboys, run
the ball. Run the ball, point blank not it ain't no.
Uh you know, you know you got your Aaron Rodger
as you got the kid at CAC But you don't
play them every year but the teams that but when

(06:06):
you do play them, it's in the playoffs. Uh. The
biggest thing that was so crushing was Parsons had the
quarterback for Green Bay on his eye on his podcast
and he said, what did you see on tape that
really made you all excited? Well, we can run the ball,

(06:27):
whether it's that you or anybody else, we can run
the ball. I would have set the podcast down and
beat the quarterback up right then. But but he didn't
do that, So good for him. Like what happened, Well,
you would have been hearing something breaking news, breaking new
Nate Newton is beat half beat the quarterback for the
Green Bay Patterson death. Yeah so you But anyway, I'm

(06:52):
glad he didn't. And we still have our star and
they still have their star. Yeah a good point. You
need you need Mike around here.

Speaker 2 (06:58):
But yeah, let's talk about Limbab a little bit.

Speaker 1 (07:03):
This is a dude who's strong. Yes, hurt Mazzi too.

Speaker 2 (07:07):
This dude was like a you know, a state champion
in powerlifting and stuff. They strong man. He played for
the Bills. I think last year he played for the
Vikings under Zim. How much does that factor in? You know,
Zim was the head coach when when he played for
the Vikings for a couple of years.

Speaker 1 (07:25):
He knows what Zim wants. We we don't have huge
linebackers like right blind backs, say like the forty nine
ers got forty nine has got got a pounder and
they got a cover guy and they bring the thunder. Well,
we don't have those big guys like that. We got Kendricks,

(07:46):
who's probably five elevel six feet two thirty. That's not
a big guy. He's bigger than what our guy was
last year. He's a wild event. But we gotta we
gotta nurture him into the season start and hope that
he can. It was anyone from fourteen to sixteen games,
maybe seventeen and so in the backups are with a

(08:06):
Harvey number fifty five. Leuis vel guy, and we got
the marrious guy that we drafted from Notre Dame, number
thirty five. He's been flowing around. We got overshown. All
of these guys except for Kendrick, are unproven guys in
this league. So it's gonna take a few games. And
if we continue to do these shows together like we're doing,

(08:28):
we are not even in the preseason yet. Listen to me,
I am telling you something. The preseason starts the first
four games of the year. That's when the preseason start
because now the veteran players can start getting in shape.
And our first preseason game is against Cleveland Browns.

Speaker 2 (08:46):
Damn okay, So here we go. Yeah, So it seems like,
and you've been out there, and I know you're back
home now, but you've been out there in Oxnard. The
reports I hear about the kid from Notre Dame Leopold
are good, But is your point that he's not like

(09:11):
he's good for where he is in his career, but
he's not quite ready.

Speaker 1 (09:16):
They thought he wasn't a tackler. But he seems to
do all do okay in the games. He's a cover guy.
He's always around the ball. He seems like he takes
good angles. And that's all you can go by and
practice is a guy taking a good angle because they
ain't hitting. So now a guy started hitting it, you know,
hitting in the games, and you you're gonna be a

(09:39):
little rusted. So you can't just judge a guy. And
I'm serious when I say, uh, the preseason opens up
with Cleveland. I'm not joking. Yeah, I know you cannot
tell me. And I don't know if it was me
and you talking about it the other day. Not the
back to back teams that I had that I played

(10:00):
on in the nineties. We weren't the same team the
first year we won as we was in the second
year and we weren't the definitely the same team. We
took a year off and came back the next year
and one. We wasn't that team. So this team has changed.
First and foremost, we have true linebackers. We have a
four man line that is lined up and you're gonna

(10:21):
know where they at. We're gonna have a guy over
the center, a guy over the three technique, and they're
gonna be all original, genuine one technique, fat guy, three technique,
fat with athletic ability. Two ends, that's athletic. But they're
gonna be bigger. These are different guys this year, so

(10:42):
you gotta get it. And man, I'm talking about this preseason.
You got Cleveland, New Orleans. The New Orleans defense ain't
gonna be no joke. And then you got the Ravens
and the New York Is within our conference for that,
they gonna play Oh yeah, listen to rad. They gonna

(11:03):
play man because everybody talking about Daniel Jones is dude.
They have no running back. The office line is garbage.
Your folks will be good and mad when they see
us man, and they probably gonna be go lost their
first two games. They're probably gonna be one and two
when they see us, he'll be upset. Rad, You eat
up shot. Come on, Rat, You're dude from Michigan. Ain't

(11:25):
doing that. Your dude, Mazi from Michigan is inconsistent.

Speaker 2 (11:28):
Come on, Rad, I'm just saying, Man, I thought my
man was strong and good and figured out. Hey, hey,
you know me, Nate. I'm still rooting for him. I'm
rooting for him. Oh man, you gave a first round
to pick for this gentleman. But that Hey, that light
bulb has to come on to. How much is mental?
How much is mental?

Speaker 1 (11:48):
Love it all? Love it. See, you don't all the
way miss with a first round pick, right. I think
mentally you may miss. Athletically you don't because a guy
can do certain things and the scouts know. Will McLay
and his guys know what this kid can and cannot do.

(12:12):
It's the mental part. Did you talk enough to the doctors,
the trainers, the equipment man, his girlfriend, his ex girlfriend.
You got to get in there and dig in there.
You go talk to my dad, they what you want
to hear. You gotta talk to the ex girlfriend. Yeah.
I want to know if he was a good dinner.
I want to know if he's a good dude, did

(12:32):
he try to sneak back when he got another girlfriend?
I want to know everything. Yeah, if he's sneaking and
this ain't a good things that but you're sneaking a
little dirty. Now he may play a little harder. You
know what I'm saying. I don't need no grape something
in here. Yeah, man, I need to know everything. Yeah.
Do you take a bath every day? I have the
other day. I need to know that you.

Speaker 2 (12:53):
Brought my man up. Willie Harvey fifty five Again. I'm
not in camp every day, haven't.

Speaker 1 (12:58):
Been, but everybody was fading over him. Bro, everybody's loving me.
When I watch him in the games, I am, yeah, okay.
I think he's a good guy. He's a backup to
Kendricks right now. They like him. I just want to
see a lot of times when I saw him got trapped,

(13:19):
I didn't know what the other backer was trying to do.
Was he trying to fill a gap and he was
supposed to get outside? Was the other guy supposed to
keep outside leverage? You know what I'm saying, And him
hit up in the gap. So I couldn't read that clearly.
But in the game you'll know because when the starters
fall in place, you'll know that. Oh yeah, he was

(13:41):
supposed to get outside on this because a couple of
runs were Marrits and he him was in there. It
was kind of murky. They kind of got caught up
in the watch. But when Buddy Johnson fifty two came in,
Buddy Johnson was getting outside, had better angles and was
making tackles. So but it's hard for me to to

(14:01):
to judge and say, oh, this is the guy, this
is the guy. I can't do that right now. I'm
telling that for the preseason game, gonna be a beast, man,
It's gonna be a be everybody runs.

Speaker 2 (14:13):
They played the Rams and they played they played.

Speaker 1 (14:19):
So let me ask you this too.

Speaker 2 (14:21):
Uh with regard to that Las Vegas game, the Raiders game, right, Uh,
they kept their starters in longer, all those things. So
the narrative, you know, the narrative is, man, you know,
Cowboys did really well in that game because they were
going against the Ones for a long time. Tell me

(14:43):
how you saw that game. Does any of that matter?

Speaker 1 (14:46):
The Raiders don't look like a fast team, and uh,
the majority of the teams we're gonna play are gonna
be fast. Teams. Yeah, physical teams and just didn't impress me.
Nobody but cross me on defense. And I can't think
of number fifty. It just was not a fast team.

(15:08):
It didn't had this young wide receiver eighteen or nineteen.
He was lightning fast for the radio. Raiders didn't impress
me as a fast team. And we handled our own
offensive line kind of handled their own defensive line was okay,
because like I said, they was running on us a
little bit. So, man, the Raiders didn't impress me. I'm sorry.

(15:30):
You know, Antonio, Antonio, go to your own and tell
them that you're gonna need another year, I think. But
now I do know this. I've seen teams in New
Orleans Saints used to be notorious for losing all the
preseason games and coming up killing you during the season.

(15:51):
So do not go off of these preseason games. No
more than individual performances. That's what I look at. I
can tell you that Guidon did fairly well. I can
tell you that Bbie that center did fairly well. That's
what I look at. I do not look at preseason games,
win or loses. I don't care. I've won super Bowls

(16:13):
and went one in three in the preseason. I okay,
I like that. I like that. I like that. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (16:21):
Matter of fact, matter of fact, I believe you were
on a team that went four and oh in the preseason,
Jimmy and Jerry in their first year hi.

Speaker 1 (16:32):
Way super Bowl, and then you went one and fifteen.
I remember I had it all now started with the
New Orleans debacle. That's when I knew Voodoo was in
New Orleans was for real. Baby. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (16:46):
Oh man, all right, so let's go to the offensive
side of the ball again.

Speaker 1 (16:52):
We're not seeing the starters. So you mentioned Cooper, you know,
you mentioned Tyler. Guy.

Speaker 2 (17:00):
It's good, right, it's good. It's good to those young
guys look good and great out well then than to
not still not the regular season yet. But what what
do we expect, man, I mean, like, we expect a team, okay,
to grow, uh, to come out against Cleveland and not

(17:24):
lay down, I mean, compete with everything you got.

Speaker 1 (17:28):
I liked Cleveland. I like Cleveland defense live by Miles Garrett.
I think they got a nice safety, they got a
nice linebackers. This Garrett kid makes the other guys. Yeah.
So I don't know if we gonna lose that game.
But how you perform. How my left guard, I mean

(17:51):
I left tackle in my center performed. Now the left guard,
he gonna come all right guard, he gonna come all
right tackle, gonna get you everything he got. And if
he can lay hands on you and smother you a
lit it every now and then without getting a flag,
he gonna do that too. So I'm not worried about
those two positions. But how well would they blend in

(18:12):
with these other these veteran guys. The quicker they blend
in and get some rhythm, the better that gonna be.
CD Lamb should be back by then, I said, no,
CD is gonna be hell to pay. So that's the
next question.

Speaker 2 (18:31):
I mean, well, this has lasted longer than I thought it.

Speaker 1 (18:35):
Is there any chance?

Speaker 2 (18:37):
Is there any chance that like your when you were there,
when what'd you guys go?

Speaker 1 (18:44):
Oh and two? And then they signed down it after
two losses?

Speaker 2 (18:49):
Like do we have to endure a loss to Cleveland
and a lost to New Orleans before Jerry finally gets it?

Speaker 1 (18:55):
Or what? Tell me? Let me tell that right here.
CD say, I don't need to be paid more than
a big dog in Minnesota. So mister Jones, then give
him an offer slightly less. Let me do some CD talk.
Everybody knows Jerry's talk. I know CD's talking. He won't equal, yeah,

(19:16):
or maybe five hundred thousand less than what the guy
got in Middleesota. You don't want two million dollars less
than the guy got in Minnesota. He just won't give
him a million and a half more. And he could
be in there because if CD don't come in, if
CD have to come in and play for the seventeen
mil and next sure they may slap him with that tag.

(19:39):
Oh my god, this is gonna that gonna be ugly.
And then if that gets signed, that gonna be ugly.
That gonna be ugly. Man. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, that's nothing.

Speaker 2 (19:51):
Nobody, you know, the cowboys of management doesn't want to
deal with that, obviously. The fans don't even want to
hear about it. So got gout feeling that do you
believe in?

Speaker 1 (20:02):
I don't. I don't know somethings I got here. Some things.
I gotta bleed. Rat like you can say, rats have
pretty silver? Is it white? I don't care what color
he's he's doing. He's doing the podcast and his hairs there,
That's all I care about. Logos is there, Yeah, Logans
is there? You got this, Jimmy Johnson, little baby, Yeah,

(20:24):
I got a lot of it. Yeah, yeah, you got
a lot of it. You know, I know a lot
of people kind of start, you know, putting little you know,
a little strings in the hair. That's all yours, rad
that's all my baby, Okay, good. Yeah. If it was
a two pay, I pick it right up for you
right now. Don't do that. I leave the show. If

(20:45):
you do that, I leave the show. The show. Oh
my god, please I leave the show yet if you
did that.

Speaker 2 (20:55):
So yeah, and then I'm running back. Obviously we know
what Zeke with. No, it's Rico. I liked what I
saw from Deucebawn and and Nate. Maybe maybe because of
the wonderful story right with his daddy working for the
team and all that stuff. Man, maybe maybe I'm you know,

(21:17):
my heart is rooting for him. Tell me, you know what,
you remind me of a typical cowboy fan I am.

Speaker 1 (21:26):
Yeah. If we keep every rooting heart player, if he
one to sixteen, we can't rooting heart. Oh I love him,
Oh I like him. Oh daddy, Oh, mister Jones full
a great pr move and got a kid because his

(21:46):
daddy was this s guy. Let me tell you something,
this kid, if this kid may have seen, he better
be earned his way on it. And this year here
you cannot not use him. He's having to be him
a limpke. You gotta use these guys. You can't let
Zeke think he can toke this ball twenty times. He
can't let We gotta use this guy. We gotta use

(22:07):
Rico o'donald. We have to use every running back that
we keep on the active ross and if it's three,
we have to use them not only during the game,
but we have to use them during the special teams.
We have to use these guys. Yeah, yes, so hard heart.

(22:30):
Look it's leading the home in my shirt. Yeah yeah,
Come man, what do you think about the new kickoffs stuff.
I'm gonna let it happen. I'm gonna let it happen
because somebody's gonna do something good. Somebody's gonna do something good,
and it's gonna be a many a team that try
to do something good and it's go backfire, But it's

(22:53):
somebody gonna do something good. And I'm hoping it's on
our team. Play on our team. You played some specialty
teams early. Man. But that's that's gotta be weird here.

Speaker 2 (23:04):
Man.

Speaker 1 (23:04):
You have to be a great athlete. The way this
thing going, you have to be a great We're doing
it one way and now you're doing it another way.

Speaker 2 (23:10):
Yeah, yeah, that's gotta be weird. All right, So what else?
Let me think kicking games? Fine, we can talk about
the three phases. So, uh, what do they do in
this final preseason game?

Speaker 1 (23:24):
Now we know health health. In the past, this was
health showcase for everybody who is dying to make the team.
That health they know who's gonna make the team. Okay,
health one year is always some guy that breaks out
and does something great. He'll be the sixtieth man on

(23:45):
the roster. Help. Yeah, get through this thing with health.
Because we need for Guiding to play a little bit.
We need for BB to play a little bit so
they can continue to get better and better and better.
We need for uh kid from knowing to Dame marriage
number thirty five. We need for these young guys that
have possibilities of being in the in the rotation at

(24:08):
some point in time. Marshawn Niela, give give him some reps.
Don't be shy. We got to they need reps because
these are core guys that we're going to depend on
during the year to make this team better. After our preseason,
all right, let me ask you this one, who's going
to be the back quarterback? Who's been the backup quarterback?

(24:30):
If you got to ask that question, Rad, you haven't
been watching it any football. Yeah I know. I mean,
as the kid, don't waste our podcast on a guy
that we're gonna start judging next year. Don't you do it?
Don't you do it? Don't you do Oh my goodness,
I'll talk about him next year. I've told management how

(24:51):
I felt. I mean, my vote doesn't count, but this
kid should not even worry about this year. Just go
out and throw balls doing the pre season. Be the
best you can work doing the off season. Go out
there and get DA's pop lock guy. Work with him
doing the off season. Then come back ready next year.

(25:12):
The window is like this for the Cowboys. The window
is like this and closing going down. Thank you? Yes? Yeah,
all right, so good. That's all the answers we needed.
I think.

Speaker 2 (25:24):
Man, I'm I'm so anxious for that first preseason game.

Speaker 1 (25:27):
Yes, Cleveland, Cleveland. Can you imagine playing Cleveland? In the
preseason for it. Yeah right, you need to win it,
beautiful man. It's always great talking to you.

Speaker 2 (25:41):
Man. Your insight is unbelievable, your opinions, your thoughts. I
appreciate them as always. And uh, let's do this again
next week, shall.

Speaker 1 (25:48):
We, Yes, we will. We'll do it early. Make sure
we get it early after this game. Early, baby, my schedule,
my schedule. Okay, let's see it early
