(00:45):
Tell You Something with Big Nate Dude, I'll questioned to open this show.
Yesterday, my boys stand back.Isaiah the Freak went around telling everybody do
you love the stars? Oh?Do you love the stars? Because we
got to cracking for you, Azaia, what happened last night? See what

(01:06):
happened was Nate And for those thatdon't know, some of y'all mighty grow
up in some really nice neighborhoods, you know. But for those a group
in the hood, we had alittle saying when things don't go your way,
it's not let me tell you somethingit's what had happened was and uh
what happened? What had happened wasSeattle Cracking got smacked up against the Dallas

(01:32):
Stars. What was the schola?See what happened was um on? Uh?
What night was that? Tuesday night? The Dallas Stars beat the Cracking
six to three on that the previouswhat was it Saturday? Sunday? Sunday?
The previous Sunday, the Dallas Starsgot scraped up by the Seattle Cracking

(01:53):
seven to two. Wow. Sothis series is going back and forth and
it's got to come down. Ithink it's gonna come down to Game seven.
Nate. Right, it's at thetime of this film, and it's
two and two. He's coming backto the Crib and Dallas and we need
I need Seattle to step up,you know, I need to Seattle step
up. I'm about to find myway back in the building over there,

(02:14):
you know, right now, Ithink me being in the building with the
Seattle Cracking against the Dallas Stars inDallas when I'm there there two on one,
So I think I might need toshow up so we can go three
on one. It's something shining behindyou, man, What what is that
behind you? And what what's thatthat back there? Oh, that's that
blue light. That's that blue lightspecial. That's for my Seattle cracking boys.
Sometimes you gotta put one up andyou got you gotta put it up

(02:35):
in the air, kind of likea bat signal. You know what I'm
saying. You gotta represent Okay, crap, I'm gonna hold them down town
forever. Man. I love,I love and appreciate Dallas, but you
know you don't. You don't forgethome. You know, I represent home.
No disrespect, no disresce. We'regonna bounce, We're gonna bounce back,
man, We're gonna bounce back.Jeez, a lot of stuff popping
off. Man. I did makea lot of bets stone, Nate.

(02:57):
You know I don't. I don'tbet money. I bet all about bragging
rights and all right. So right, there's a lot of there's a lot
of a lot of things that Ihave to go back in and talk to
some cats because they're gonna be inmy face. I already got people sending
me Instagram reels and stories talking aboutold you don't show up the work.
When when when the Dallas stars win? Huh? They all my head,
Nate they're on my head. Well, hey, I'm sorry. I'm sorry

(03:21):
that y'all didn't pull it out.I'm not a big hockey fan, but
I'm enthusiastic that I know somebody thatdoes. I love hockey, you know,
and and and you know, ridingwith it and those INDs, and
I can tell me what's happening.Uh, competition, man, I just
like competition. Nate co with that. Man, what you mean, covid

(03:42):
that whatever, it's about anything,Seattle Mariners, Seahawks, cracking under,
defunk Oklahoma. He says all aboutcompetition where they don't win, but when
they win all he has statistics, numbers, analytics, everything. My friends.

(04:04):
Yeah, that might be a littleright. That might be a little
right. But I love conversation. You know. We always touch on these
Dallas Cowboys a little bit before weget into some other stuff. But the
Dallas Cowboys the official at the timeof this filming, the official schedule for
the twenty twenty fourth season has notbeen released yet. Okay, by the
time this is posted, it probablywill be. However, I did see

(04:27):
that the Dallas Cowboys are playing acouple of teams, Nate, that you
hold in high regard and then oneof those happens to be my city,
Seattle. It looks like they're gonnabe playing the Seattle Seahawks down in Dallas
at some point in time during theseason. And I know how much you
hold Pete Carroll on high regards,so that should be a nice little head
to head. But they also getto play them boys that they have nightmares

(04:51):
about. Not for real, dowe go to them and they come to
us? I don't know, Yeah, let them come to us. Let
them come, because I'm gonna tellyou something. It's when I played,

(05:12):
when when Nathaniel Newton Junior played,But I don't know a ka Nate knew.
Yeah, we were the physical team. We were the team that smashed
folks. Who was like huck smash. Okay, now it seemed like it's
it's shipped at the other well, little bit. The Cowboys are not as

(05:34):
physical as they should be, andthe forty nine ers are all that they
come with it. They are thenew Hulk in the league. When you
play them, they're gonna get hard, running up the middle, outside traps,
screens, anything where they can theylieman can get out and lay hands
on you. So I'm holding Cowboyscan, yes, can can can get

(05:57):
them at the home front with abig I hope that me and Isaiah can
be at the stadium revving it up, getting it gone. Yeah, at
more time. But but you talkabout the physicality, let go just leaving
you te it a little bit.The Dallas Cowboys seemingly have a dress there
or have been trying to address thephysicality aspect of their team, especially on
defense by picking up the Ricky MasseySmith and then also resigning Big Jonathan Hankins.

(06:21):
So they got two big nasties. And that's what you've been asking for.
The people know Big Nate Dog wantsthe big nasties in the middle so
that you when you face the fortynine ers of the world, you can
you can cog up the middle. Now that you have them, we still
got Nate saying that they ain't gonnabe physical enough. That is that what
you're saying. To know what I'msaying is I go by past recent past

(06:44):
history, gotcha, okay, Andeven though we stopped them in the playoffs,
we suffered all during the year.We slowed them down or living in
the playoffs, but when they neededto run to get a yard, or
two to get a first down,or when they needed a critical run play,
they were still able to do it. When you have arrived, when
you can play great situation of football, when it's first and when it's when

(07:09):
when it's second and four and you'retrying to throw them back and they got
the option to run a pass, but you got a board all up the
middle of where they're gonna like, nah, we ain't gonna try this.
And we know Hankins can do it. And we're hoping that the big Smith,
the first round pick out a Michigan, we're hoping that he can do
it. See, because I callit how it is, my boy,

(07:30):
Galloway, I'm a gap scooting toGallimore and those other guys haven't been able
to do that. That they're gonnahave a mindset that, hey, let's
lay hands on them, let's playleverage ball, let's get let's get myself
lord in them, get myself blowingoff the ball, and we're gonna have

(07:51):
to stop them. And once youstop them, not once, not twice,
but the only in all the criticalsituations, it's it's all right in
the first quarter, it's all rightthe seventh quarter, but the third and
the fourth you gotta say no no, You gotta do like the great Motombo
used to do. No no,no, no, no no nay.

(08:13):
Who's gonna be the odd man out? Now? Obviously the camp hasn't happened.
OTAs haven't even happened yet. Youknow, Ricky Minnikappin is popping up
this weekend. Who is going tobe the odd man out on the defensive
line, especially the interior devens aline when the dust settles. I can't
call it brought up. You broughtup Galimore. You think Galimore is gonna

(08:35):
be able to hold hold the ground? Did one thing that your boy Quinn
does, Coach Quinn is he believedin competition. That word that you threw
out earlier, when he believes incompetition. What Galimore cannot do, even
though he's a veteran guy, hecan't miss practice. He cannot let Hankins,

(08:58):
he cannot let this new mister misterSmith, Masi Smith. They cannot,
he cannot let these guys start gettingall of the reps. You gotta
be healthy, you gotta be inthere, and you gotta be competing.
And then they got the big kid. They moved from offense who's bigger than
a car. Yeah, this dudehere, king Congish. I mean when

(09:20):
you see him, I mean hechoosed the wall. He's a beast.
I mean as a man. Now, I don't know how he is as
a footballer, but if you getlower and put his arms out, he
making hold up some folks. That'sthat's been the problem is is everybody want
to get up field. See whenyou're when you're a leader, who is

(09:43):
Michael Parsons, who is defensive van? Now when you're a leaders a sack
master and he's blowing past people getin sacks. That kind of uh infects
the whole defensive line because now everybodywill let me make a play. You're
not Parsons. Yeah, Marsy, you're not Parsons. Don't let them tell

(10:05):
you that you got a sneaky passrush. Tell them you got a hell
of a run, stopping plug. That's what That's what you are. Hankins,
the same with you, because whatI've learned, if you stop to
run all of a sudden, you'llfall in on some sacks. But if
you can't stop the run and they'reblowing you off the ball, you won't
even get a chance to play. That's how you got to look at that.

(10:28):
That's how you got to rock that. That's how you got to believe
that big new name lying to you. Let me tell you something, and
I know we were trying to bespecific, but let me tell you something.
Mike McCarthy, it's his last year. He needs perfection. He needs
people to do what they ask youto do. He needs for you to

(10:50):
do your job. Do your job, so coach mccarth can be here on
the extension. I don't want anothercoaching change. I don't need another coach.
We were projected up, we wereat the projection is up. So
don't don't don't don't not do yourjob. And so Gallimore, I ain't

(11:11):
saying, you know, man out, somebody else said that on the show,
but you need to play, allright, He's got to show up
because there's a lot of competitions showout on that defensive line. You gotta
remember. People forget that the DallasCowboys drafted interior defensive alignment last year.
Yes, and what did they dowith him? Nate. We had to

(11:31):
release him because we had a lotof bodies that wasn't proven, and so
they released him and he went tothe commanders. I think he started a
few games and was heavily in therotation. So you're saying that we didn't
that the Dallas Cowboys front office didnot miss on Big John Ridgeway. They
just didn't have the time to waiton him. Yes, yes, because

(11:54):
they was trying to get Gallimore andother guys to step up and do what
they needed to do. And withthe young kid, we sat down to
the h we released I can't thinkof his name, second round pick a
few years ago. Uh on marionElli's pick, you know, and I
love coach Marinelli, but that washis pick, and uh, that kid
didn't work out. So we've beenmissing big time. Uh constantly. I

(12:18):
led his job as cats too.Be glad. I love you, man.
I choose not to call you becauseI know I don't want you to.
I don't even want to discuss it. Man, go ahead, and
there some good dudes. Go butall right, we're gonna get out of
that now. It's going the factthat there's a lot of Rickie coming in.
Okay, you got the Ricky minicamp. Pop it up, Nate,
and I couldn't help. But youknow, this is one of my

(12:39):
one of my toilet thoughts, andthey you ever had some toilet thoughts,
this was one of your best.Your best thinking happens, you know,
you see on the toilet. ButI'm thinking about Niagra. Ain't something my
toilet? Yeah yeah, blah blah. I need me some extra water,
some lesson water. Yeah, seeNiagara, See Niagara. Y'all gotta take
care of my boy. And Natesee right now, he gotta flush it
two times before he got off. They we needed efficient flush toilet thoughts.

(13:03):
It's a living ham hanging out there. Hey, I agree, y'all gonna
come through. But one of myone of my toilet thoughts. They all
sitting there, and I was like, as Ricky Minicamp is approaching, you
know, not only for the Cowboys, but just all across the nation with
all these professional athletes there is therehas to be a few things. I

(13:24):
know there was for me that youwish that you would have done different m
And and I was thinking, Iwas like, man, when I first
got here, what was the dumbpurchase that I made? And what was
the investment that I missed out on? And those are those are I have
my two nag But I'm gonna youthink my dumb it. It still is

(13:46):
to this day. I go bya new car and the heartbeat. That
is the dumbest investment in the world. Buy you one car and ride that
thing to the ground. It doesnot repay it for itself ever forever.
You know, you can't be prayingfor badness, a pandemic to call it.
So you could get your copy andyour money back. Yeah, and

(14:07):
then one investment. I still don'tdo it. I try to beg my
wife land boy Land in Frisco.Oh fi, I bought that thing thirty
years ago. Man, I've beensitting out there with Missus Jones on these
yachts, like, Yo, what'sup, Jerry? Yeah, yeah,
So it's crazy that you say thosethings. So vehicles, vehicles weren't necessarily

(14:30):
my vice. I love vehicles,Nate. You know, I love me
some vehicles, especially, I loveme some tesla Okay, right right.
I bought a dumb watch. Imean it was dumb, Nate. I
mean this thing, this is badand it's seemingly coming back around, and
it kind of came in my mind. Uh, when I was sitting in
the area because I'm watching the draftand these guys are coming up with these

(14:54):
big old chains on. They gotthese these nicklass got their initials on them
and their numbers, and I'm like, y'all gonna wear that for about about
six months and then and then it'sgonna phase out. And then you're gonna
be sitting there with a quote unquoteasset that you can't get rid of because
the jeweler is not gonna buy itback. You're gonna be sitting up there's
squatting on something that you can't wearit because if you wear it, you

(15:16):
just look silly wearing it right nowit's hot, later on it's not.
And that's how I that's how Ifell into that trap, Nate with with
little jewelry. I'm not a I'mnot a big gaudy guy right in terms
of necklaces and all that. AndI can't wear a lot of that stuff
because I have exe more. ButI like a nice watch, Nate.

(15:37):
I like a nice watch, andI like I see that all during the
year. Yeah, how many watchesyou have? Oh so you went hold
on that, hold on, yousay you bought a dumb watch, but
you got thirty five watches that youwear always a different watch. It was
and you know what, and theone I'm referring to, the one I'm

(15:58):
referred to you have never seen. You have never seen it. When you're
gonna break it, is it aflavor flame that you put Listen here,
If I wear that watch, I'mgonna have to hear you and Barry's mouth,
and I am not prepared for that. As soon as I walk in
your eyes is gonna be like wow, and Berry's gonna be like, oh,

(16:21):
so, I'm not. I'm notprepared for either of them. He
did, he did? Know what'sup that n this thing? No,
lie, I know we're on theair on online mostly in terms of people
listening to us, but this thisbezel was huge. Wow, this bezel
was huge. All diamonds bleeded out, doesn't matter what nice price, Floord

(16:47):
are you listen here and you beatthem? You beat them, you beat
them down. I think I paidback back in two thousand and seven.
I want to say I paid fifteengrand for this watch. Who boy,
yeah, you know what? Callyou know somebody else? You know what?
I was there? That ain't you? That's not no? I know

(17:11):
why? I know? Yeah,So I was tripping Nate so and the
fact that I still have this thing. Let you know, this was a
terrible investment. And as humble ofindividuals, I consider myself to be as
low maintenance, as low key,as behind the scenes as you know.

(17:32):
I'm chill. I got caught up. I got caught up, just just
briefly, but I got caught up. I got caught up with what everybody
else was doing. For my entirelife. I had blinders on, right,
my entire life, I had blinders. I can give, I can
give two craps about what everybody elsewas doing. But for the first time,
I was not being me to yourpoint, right, that was not

(17:53):
zay. Yeah, I was notsaying it costs me financially, right,
I mean, I mean some peoplegonna say, okay, fifteen grand whatever
your financial situation, that's fifteen thousanddollars. You don't get back, right
it had I put that fifteen thousanddollars into something else at that time investment,
you could have bought like four acauseof land easily right out hand Frisco.
Right. So, and so thatwas my dumb, my dumb decision,

(18:15):
my investment opportunity that I wish Iwould have had my mind set on
it, and I wish I hadthe knowledge I have today back then,
same thing that you said, Nate, Land Land land Land, Yeah,
I wish I could go back intime and and buy some land. I

(18:37):
was very, very sound, andI didn't trust people right right, So
when things presented themselves, I didn'thave a team in place to fully investigate
and do their due diligence to findout if it was a good investment or

(18:57):
not. Right. I relied heavilyon financial advisors because I didn't have the
financial knowledge at the time to reallydive into things myself and make an educated
and informed decision. That ended upcosting me too. And I don't think
I've ever told you about this onehere, Nate. I had a financial

(19:17):
advisor. Really good, dude,it's really good. Brother. It's actually
my brother's best friend by the nameof Chris, and he was working with
Merrill. Was a Merrill Lynch atthe time. I think it was Mary
Lynch. That's that's back when MaryLynch was hot, right. Yeah.
He was taking care of me,making sound decisions. It wasn't nothing sexy.
I didn't really understand a lot ofstuff that he was doing, but

(19:40):
I knew it was safe at acertain point I started again. Nate started.
I started going to these on thesetrips. There was one of these
popular agents in the Dallas area thatwould take athletes on a trip, and
he would on those trips he wouldbring in different speakers from different industries and
inform and educate athletes. And itwas a safe place, right. And

(20:03):
it ended up biting me and mybutton. Nate. And how it ended
up biting me and my butt wasI left my financial advisor that had had
my back and my family's back forour entire life, and I went with
what I thought everybody else was doingand what I thought I should have been
doing by doing that. Nate, this gentleman started asking me for all my

(20:30):
friends lists. Right, I hada lot of friends that I went,
I grew up with that went tothe NBA. So these guys had a
pocket full of money. All mygood bros. I can text in a
heartbeat, call him in a heartbeat. The answer, Well, he started
wanting their contacts, and he kindof raised the red flag for me,
kind of raise the red flag. And I was like, no, No,
I don't really share my network, you know, my networks everything.
Yeah, I'm share my network,so raise the red flag. Communication started

(20:55):
going down a little bit. Natehad played some years. This is probably
a year four. It was actuallymy contract here in Seattle where I was
like, hey, I'm making money, I'm not spending money. Right.
I had already did my dumb decisionbuying my watch. I had bought my
vehicles. I had bought a boat, some of the things. I all
these things I should not have done. But I made a couple of dumb

(21:17):
decisions. But I wasn't spending muchmoney. But my account wasn't going up.
Wow. And I remember sitting there, I'm like, yo, this
is something between him asking these questionsand my account not going up. Like
I hear these stories of cats gettinggotten NATed, and I know today me,
you know what I'm saying. Like, I pulled my money out Nate.

(21:37):
At the time, I had abouthad about three hunk an account.
I pulled it out, didn't callhim, didn't text him, didn't give
the heads up or nothing. Theypulled it out, pulled it out,
put it into another account, neverheard from him. Wow, he was
getting ready to get you be hegot me, And to this day I

(22:00):
still don't know how much he gotme right, and investments and everything.
Huh. Wow, that make youwant to sit up and take notice?
People out there, that make youwant to sit up and take notice.
Wow. So somebody who was assecure, as safe as chill, as

(22:22):
nonchal as un I don't even knowwhat the term looking for. I laid
low and I didn't spend crazy, and I thought I was doing things the
right way, and I still endedup a victim. And it wasn't until
last year I received an email froman investigator from I don't think it wasn't

(22:48):
the FBI was some one of thosesecrets, secrets, it wasn't secret service,
something like one of those one ofthose branches. Yeah, and they
told me that. Yeah, theytold that they're investigating. They're investigating him.
They brought his name up. They'reasked me, they said, do
you know who this individual is?I was like, yeah, I know
who he is? You know? But I try to delete it, Nate,

(23:10):
because we don't want to when whenbad things like that happened to us,
we don't want to really have toface it. We rather just like,
hey, like, just just bedone with it. I don't want
to have to deal with it anymore. I'm already mad enough. There's nothing
I could do about it, andthey asked me about him, and they're
investigating him right now. So I'min the process of trying to track down
a bunch of old statements and thingslike that from fifteen years ago, right,

(23:33):
you know, so that they cantry to retrieve whatever whatever money and
find out whatever money he took fromme, because it might be it might
be ten thousand, it might beit might be a couple of hundred thousand.
I don't know, right, Ireally don't know. And yes,
whoa want me for not paying enoughattention at that time, But that's just
where I was at, not havinga financial background in literally in that regard,

(24:00):
and I became a victim because ofit. So this all came to
mind, the dumb decisions, thelack of opportunities that we've had, we
passed up. When I start thinkingabout these rookies that are coming in,
and I want to know if youhad any experiences similar to that, or
if you know anybody who has hadany kind of experiences like I was my

(24:21):
own worst end of me man.So I was fortunate at my agent and
I start with it from the duration, you know, a lot of guys
came in and hey, I canget more. Hey, okay, you
can get more, but this guy'strust. But I tell you, man,
I you know, if you geta chance to wrap to enter the
rookies, or you get a chanceof people watching this, share this with

(24:41):
your friends who got kids that arein college getting this. Um. This
this new form of money that youcan receive. Because if you don't do
it right, two things gonna happen. Somebody gonna get you and all it's
gonna come and get you. Becauseit's just you know, it just made
me think of things like that becauseyou know, a lot of guys didn't

(25:02):
even understand about paying taxes. Youknow, my agent, Jim Needer,
blessed his hard. He was like, hey, man, you know I'm
hook killed with this guy. Hetell you to take this amount of money
out or set this aside, dothis because it's for taxes. And he
said, nay, I don't carewhat you do. Don't touch this money.
And to this day when I getappearance, so much go out and

(25:26):
I've always been able to pay mytaxes. I've all I had an accident
where they didn't take out enough inmy household. And I still was able
to get them taxes paid because ofwhat he taught me over the years.
I'm a simple dude, man,you know that. You know that.
I mean, I still got thesame suits I had when I played as

(25:47):
a cowboy, some of them sobig. You that gave me a your
lady, your lady to take upthe suits. And I still ain'ts and
so I'm not. I'm not abig spender man either, not anymore.
I mean I'm a lot older thanyou. You know, I ain't u
cracking. I mean it ain't crackingit. But hey, now, please
people out there, listen to whatthis young man it's just said. Share

(26:11):
this with your kids. Share thiswith your friends, especially up and coming
guys that are coming out of highschool starting to get this new money.
Hey, take care of it.It can last you a long time.
Yeah, it definitely con last youa long time. And it doesn't matter
if you're a pro athlete or ifyou're just in somebody who's in business in

(26:32):
general, working your way up thecorporate ladder, Like take the time.
We have more resources now than inaccessibility to resources than we've ever had in
life. It just a crazy thingabout it. Man, what's that somebody
that said, Hey, go toYouTube and see this, go to TikTok
and see these same things that youused to go out and entertain yourself.

(26:53):
Have has these some of these programson how to help you be an investor
on your own, how to researchpeople. This information is out there.
It's just depending on how you lookat life, very much, very much
so, so y'all, do notbe a victim owe junior like me.
I never thought in my life,as secure as I am, as as

(27:21):
smart as I believe that I am, that I would ever get got,
And yet I still got got,And I still don't know to what extent.
And a part of me, partof me wants to know. Part
of me wants to know just soif there is something out there for me
to get back, that I couldpass it off to my kids. But
the other side of me doesn't wantto know because I don't want that anger

(27:44):
to come out of me. Youknow, I tell people I'm a nun
violent man. I close my eyeswhen I say that. My dad it
was told you though, so tohave a point a gun in me,
don't. I'm a mess with mymama, and please please leave my money
alone. Yeah, absolutely, absolutely, Like okay, daddy, okay.

(28:07):
And he told me, he toldme that he heard me. He had
to look over his face like youwanted to get me. Then I'm like,
dad, hey did. And hewas just trying to share. Those
three things have always you know, threatening somebody correct, hurting their family members

(28:30):
are taking their money can make folksact up real quick, real mild man.
