Fox Winery and Lounge Rock. Let's talk stealers.
Speaker 2 (00:47):
This holiday season. The Ravens still suck.
Speaker 3 (00:51):
Here we go, huddle.
Speaker 2 (00:54):
Up Steelers Nation.
Speaker 4 (00:55):
It's Tank and Mike from Cigars International. Here a Bridgeville, Pennsylvania.
I love that little cartoon with the ben Stonium and
kicking at Ravens head from the beginning. Check out my
buddies at ben Stonium. They're funny guys, Mike. We're the
best of the worst in the AFC North. We are
(01:17):
the best team of the worst of the Browns, of
the Bengals, and now the Ravens.
Speaker 2 (01:23):
I want to talk about.
Speaker 4 (01:24):
Offense first, right Aaron Rodgers running across and doing.
Speaker 2 (01:28):
The double check. Everything went right in Baltimore with the offense.
Speaker 5 (01:33):
Well, you're you're right in the roller coaster right now.
You know, the last week here, everyone's firing the coach.
The team stinks.
Speaker 2 (01:39):
Oh I still want to fire the cover ones.
Speaker 5 (01:41):
You know now they're a we're gonna We're gonna get
in the playoffs.
Speaker 2 (01:44):
So listen, you got to just one game at a time.
There's there's so much parody in the NFL. You never
know what's to happen.
Speaker 5 (01:50):
But to me, the way Rogers is late this past week,
you know he ran into the end zone. Hey, I
still got it, and he does because honestly, you saw
some mobility. He was able to escape the pocket, make
some plays downfield. You know, hit DK Metcalf downfield, some
(02:11):
big play balls. He's still got to be better off
the press, but you know, even you know the one catch,
and you know saw some blocking. The smart veteran play
of Adam Halo because he knows the ins and outs
of reading coverages.
Speaker 2 (02:25):
Good pickup, because.
Speaker 5 (02:27):
You know he's a veteran that's been around, He's got
a relationship with Rogers.
Speaker 2 (02:30):
He's a smart player. He's a cerebral player, so he.
Speaker 5 (02:33):
Understands where to find those soft spots and the defense
wins necessary and then allows.
Speaker 2 (02:38):
You know, DK to stretch field little bit more.
Speaker 4 (02:40):
All Right, I want to bring up the next gen
stats to take a look at, Mike.
Speaker 2 (02:45):
This was a different offense.
Speaker 4 (02:47):
This was not the chitty chitty bang bang, clunk and
dink offense that we've seen in the last couple of weeks.
Speaker 6 (02:54):
That I hate that the statistics, even though we went
to Baltimore and it looked good, Mike, we're still offensively
one of the worst teams in the leagues.
Speaker 4 (03:05):
We're twenty seven to twenty three ranking in a lot
of categories. But you and I watched the game, we
texted back and forth.
Speaker 2 (03:13):
But they're trending in the rankers. They're trending for right now.
Speaker 4 (03:18):
I think that it was clear that Aaron Rodgers was
given more ability to go to the line of strimmage,
call some plays at the line of scrimmage, and you
saw an absolute reason why he should be allowed to
do that. I forget when it was second quarter, the
Steelers were close.
Speaker 2 (03:39):
They got the.
Speaker 4 (03:39):
First down, but it was a subject of Rogers a
screaming to spike the ball.
Speaker 2 (03:44):
Spike the ball. Y's just but hold on.
Speaker 4 (03:47):
Arthur Smith doesn't have the presence as his off sensus
coordinator and is trying to make some.
Speaker 2 (03:53):
Well, no personality, just likes it.
Speaker 5 (03:56):
The Times snapped the ball to just you know, because
they knew there was a potential that it might have
not have been that's right, and Rogers knew it.
Speaker 4 (04:03):
But Arthur Smith, who's supposed to know these things, he's
trying to make a substitution.
Speaker 2 (04:10):
Well, and that's the thing.
Speaker 5 (04:11):
I mean, he's you know, you've got that better quarterback
that you've got to give him that freedom because he
understands the game. It was like, listen, let's just get up,
let's just snap the ball. It's first down, we run
the football. Now we're good to go. But now that
you make the sub the defense changes. Now they can
do their expedited review, which to.
Speaker 2 (04:32):
Me, I don't know.
Speaker 5 (04:34):
I mean, the NFL seems to buzz in on some
weird times. If an announcer says something, you see a
lot of announcers going back in the backtracking saying that's
a bad call, and then they come back from commercial breaks.
Speaker 2 (04:46):
So to me, there's something going on.
Speaker 5 (04:47):
I think obviously, if you're gonna make rulings, you know.
Speaker 2 (04:52):
A lot of even penalties could be reviewed.
Speaker 5 (04:55):
But again back to Rogers, he realized that the ball
was not caught get on the line. Let's just get
that play snapped so we can get that free play.
But at to say, you know, so, you've got to
give him that ability. And then with a guy like that,
he understands the defense, he d cans the whitz is
Obviously he did get firmed on one. He did get
you know, I'm sure he would even admit that. And
(05:16):
to get the delay of game.
Speaker 2 (05:17):
He was trying to get to a check. But he
sees things better than other quarterbacks. That is his superpower.
You know, he's he's forty two years old. He's being
done that.
Speaker 5 (05:29):
So if you're gonna use to year quarterback, you're sacrificing
on maybe the health, You're sacrificing maybe on the mobility.
Speaker 2 (05:36):
But you got to use the strengths that he has.
Speaker 5 (05:39):
And the strength is he's got the brains to manage
the game on the field as a coach, and you
have to give him that freedom. And I think, you know,
it's the difference of maybe you know, two to three
plays a game.
Speaker 2 (05:54):
Where it could be the difference in the game.
Speaker 4 (05:56):
Look, I said when Aaron Rodgers game here, I wrote
on our face book page that you have not had
a quality offensive coordinator since Bruce Carrions. But wait a minute,
you had a new offensive coordinator in Aaron Rodgers, who
was coming to town premised upon what you said. He's
been there, he's done that. Look, Arthur Smith's offense is
(06:19):
an abject failure up until this point. Again, in so
many categories they're ranked twenty seven.
Speaker 5 (06:27):
And again we don't want to agree. I mean, you
don't know that when if you're not in the building,
you don't understand the ins and outs when you're an
offensive coordinator. Sometimes, hey, maybe the players can't get a
certain thing, Maybe they're just not mature enough to handle
certain things when you're a coordinator there, Look, there's a
lot of circumstances that going Hey, no is the does
he have full autonomy?
Speaker 2 (06:48):
Does the head coach step in and say I don't.
Speaker 4 (06:50):
Want that totalan can't even call a defense, but I
don't want him calling the office book.
Speaker 2 (06:55):
But my whole point is is usual we won't know
until you.
Speaker 5 (06:59):
Are actually in the building and you know the ins
and outs, and you know what the ins and outs
of the weapons the week, the stratgons is.
Speaker 4 (07:05):
So there's a lot that goes to it. I respect you,
you've been in a f locker rooms. You might play
for the Lions of Eagles at quarterback. He knows what
he's talking about. But I still lay all this on
the hills of Arthur Smith. And look, if I want
to talk about a statistic, I want to see how
you think this bears out. Right now, the Steelers are
(07:27):
historically the best team ever to play pro football in
yards after catch yet, which is a tributal to medcalfs
wheels and that bulldozer in Mount Washington catching the ball
just the season or just this season right now, now,
if you juxpose that to all the other categories where
(07:49):
they're twenty seven, twenty three, number thirty overall offensively in
the league.
Speaker 7 (07:55):
They have the talent. You cannot look at Gamewell and
say he ain't no running back his weapon. He is
a weapon. Jalen Warren is a weapon. Where is Pat
Pratt firemos And again, if.
Speaker 4 (08:10):
You go back to that next gen stat they didn't
really attack the middle of the field. Again, look, you
went down and you beat an average football team in
the Baltimore Ravens.
Speaker 2 (08:22):
You're the best of the worst right now. The kiddie
Gats of.
Speaker 4 (08:26):
Cincinnati, the brown Man in Cleveland, the Cincinnati Bengals, and
you beat the Chickenhawks down there in Baltimore last week.
That doesn't mean this team is where you want it.
You were after the head of Mike Tomlin after the
Bills loss.
Speaker 2 (08:44):
Mike, this changes nothing about.
Speaker 4 (08:46):
What I think about the twenty twenty five Steelers in
the future.
Speaker 2 (08:50):
Tomlin's got to go. He's the one that hired Arthur Smith.
Where they're twenty seventh, twenty fifth in the league. Okay.
And the defense, which we're going to get into in the.
Speaker 4 (08:59):
Next segment, this billion dollar quartet defense or whatever it is,
is a also abjectively failing. So again, I mean, there's
still a lot of football to be playing. I love
your positive attitude. You got a better attitude than Notre
Dame age.
Speaker 5 (09:16):
You will say, I will say, you saw other people
in the national media, maybe a grain or you know,
as far as separate, you know, going separate ways. Even
even Roethlisberger came out and said, you know, it might
be a good change of scenery for both for both people. Again,
(09:38):
there's too much football to be played. A lot can happen.
You're gonna play the Ravens again, that game could be
the game to decide who wins.
Speaker 2 (09:46):
But you know, you've got the Dolphins this week. It's
a big game. I mean, they're gonna come up here.
Speaker 5 (09:50):
That's why I got my hat on the Dolphins. They
gotta try to stay warm. They gotta be, they gotta be.
Speaker 2 (09:54):
You know, it's gonna be a little comfortable, uncomfortable for them.
But they've been running the football ball.
Speaker 5 (09:58):
So the Steelers gonna help up up that run game,
that run game defense, and stop the Dolphins force them
to throw it. The Dolphins pass defense is one of
the better pass defenses in the league.
Speaker 2 (10:10):
However, they also get a date. They are the second
in the team to force fumbles.
Speaker 5 (10:14):
Steelers are number one forcing fumbles, Dolphins are number two.
Speaker 2 (10:18):
So it could be an ugly defensive games. Got to
be another game. We got to take the Marshall brisket.
Speaker 5 (10:23):
But they have to win this one because the Tuna
fis otherwise. It's going to come down to the Ravens
and the Steelers.
Speaker 2 (10:30):
And you know, a week eighteen, it always comes down
to the Ravens and Steelers.
Speaker 4 (10:35):
All right, when we come back, we're gonna talk a
little bit about the Steelers defense and again about the
Miami Tuna Fish coming up here with there on a
big winning streak.
Speaker 2 (10:44):
They they too have beaten a lot of nobody.
Speaker 5 (10:47):
Horner Roe, they beat nobody to go nobody. They're finding
a way to win. Steelers up one week down, one
week up down.
Speaker 4 (10:54):
Week Like, let's just get some listening, mister limpet ain't
been no bloody Who is that man.
Speaker 8 (11:03):
With the big cigar course and the medical experts will
be center stage in terms of determined availability of those guys.
Speaker 3 (11:12):
Uh, those guys.
Speaker 8 (11:13):
Are are Pete, Malik Harrison, Darnelle Washington. We have some
other guys who got banged up during the course of play.
Ken O Benton had an ankle. He was able to
go back and finish. I'm sure that'll limit him some
at the at the early portions of this week. James
Pierre suffered a calf injury.
Speaker 3 (11:33):
Injury.
Speaker 8 (11:33):
He was able to finish, but it certainly could impact
him at the early portions of this week. Ben Scarnic,
Wye Black and some others. Kyle duggarst certainly's got a
chance this week to come back from his hand injury
and the rest that kind of bumps and bruises associated
with play thankful that we have an additional twenty four
hours or so or plus this week, and that's why
(11:56):
we adjusted our schedules in the way in the way
that we've done. Uh Sometimes, as when we play on Monday,
particularly at the early stages of team development, we'll do
Friday twice and hit a lot of our situational football
and really get solid on some of that stuff. We
just deemed it appropriate to give ourselves another additional twenty
four hours of recovery this week, and so that's why
(12:17):
we've taken the approach that we've taken this week. Thursday
will be like a normal end season Wednesday, and then
we'll proceed on from there and hopefully we'll get better
clarity regarding some player availability. We'll give guys some additional
time to rest and recuperate and be able to put
their hand in the pile in terms of participating in
the process of game readiness. And it's certainly important this
(12:40):
time of year that we have that as the road
gets narrow. Things that I thought were significant in terms
of determining the outcome of the game on Sunday, I
thought we were aggressive schematically on offense, and beyond that,
though we had the playmaking to go along with it.
We were aggressive down the grass and some instances I
(13:02):
thought DK obviously was a central component of that, but
so was guys like Calvin Austin. That was a big
third down and three down the grass in the third
quarter for him and really was a whisker away from
going seventy five or so. We were able to hit
Jalen Warren out of the backfield versus some pressure on
a third down play and he was able to run
(13:25):
it in from about roughly forty yards out, and so
we got we got some yards and chunks that certainly
aids execution. It flips the field and oftentimes chunk plays
are the central component of scoring drives, and certainly it
was for us. We were able to put seven points
on the board our first possession of the game. We
were able to put three points I think on the
(13:45):
board the first possession of the second half and kind
of go on from there. From a defensive perspective, I
thought our third down play, particularly at the early stages
of the game, sent the message and quell vironment and
allowed us to find our footing and play. Brandon Echols
(14:05):
I thought was central to that. He broke up a
pass in the red zone early in the game made
him settle for three on the first possession. He had
a sack on the next third down. On a subsequent drive,
he had a third down coverage play. I think on
the next down. Largely, we did what we needed to
do on third down in the first half of the game,
and I thought it really set the stage for game
(14:27):
on if you will. We had to stop there at
the end of the half, but we were penalized, and
that was a four point penalty. They were able to
go in and score a couple of plays later, and
it also minimized our opportunity to maybe go back at
him in a two minute drill prior to the half,
and so certainly that was a costly penalty. But largely
I thought third down in the first half really kind
(14:48):
of set the stage from a competition standpoint, from a
defensive perspective, and then certainly in the second half, man
standing up on the short field was big settle for
three or getting off And I just think this time
of year, that's where the game is played for offenses
and for defenses, and I'd be remiss if I didn't
(15:10):
mention special teams. I thought we had some timely play
making in that space, guys like ben' scronic and Carson
bruner Man.
Speaker 3 (15:17):
Really we're productive.
Speaker 8 (15:19):
We talk about activity and productivity and it being a difference,
and those are two guys meant a bit highly productive
at whooping blocks and making tackles in that space with
a high level of consistency, and it was needed as
you battle for blades of grass and the field position
game in games like that. Largely though, I just I
liked everyone's smiling the face of adversity mentality. The environment
(15:44):
was a tough and competitive one. Certainly, the Ravens are
a worthy dance partner and we're able to get the
job done now as we lean in on Monday Night
football this week. We're excited about Monday Night football at Akasher. Certainly,
the Dolphins are as hot as any team in the NFL.
I'll start first with their defense. If you look at
these guys statistically over the last five weeks, man, they're
(16:08):
tops in football. I think they're giving up thirteen point
two points per game over that span. Third down conversion
rate is like at thirty one percent. They got nine turnovers.
I think that's second in football. And so that's some
of the very critical statistics that measure how you're playing.
They're checking those boxes and that's why they've won. They've
(16:28):
been the winners of four straight. When you keep the
point total down, you take the ball away, you're good
on third down. I think they're twenty two TD raid
in the red zone and so they're stingy in that
area as well. They're doing all the things you need
to do to play really good defense. I love their
linebacker tandem. Both highly productive, instinct football players, volume tacklers.
(16:52):
You better get hats on those guys if you want
to make plays not only in the running game, but
just in the perimeter game, et CETERA. Very active hand them.
They leave them on the field quite a bit.
Speaker 3 (17:02):
Uh.
Speaker 8 (17:02):
They don't go to dime on third down and things
of that nature like a lot of teams do this
time of year. Twenty and twenty five are gonna be
in the middle of everything. I think they've been really
solid in the secondary once they solidified some of their
you know, divisional labor, and I think Maka has been
significant in that regard. He's been playing nickel for them,
and they've got more depth, certainly at safety than they
(17:25):
do at corner and and Maker's versatility has been an
asset to him. He's done an awesome job as a
as a guy that plays closer to the line of
scrimmage in the nickel position, a guy that blitzes. Certainly
in base he plays free safety and there's a hub
of communication and center fielder back there for him. There
they got two really good, solid veteran corners who do
(17:48):
a nice job of keeping things in front of them.
They're very aware and instinct players. Raoul's been around a
long time, Jones has been around a long time.
Speaker 3 (17:57):
Now.
Speaker 8 (17:57):
They're ball guys. You see it. They've taken the ball away.
They hunt the ball via the turnovers and punching and collective.
Is really impressive, really impressive by Bradley Chubb's efforts. You know,
I think he missed a significant time amount of time
over the last year or two. He certainly appears to
(18:19):
have found his footing. He's a challenge for us in
terms of the edge rush, particularly with some instability that
we have at tackle. It's gonna be a challenge minimizing
his impact on the game. But but chop as a
designated rusher Judon, They've got a quality edge group, and
certainly they got some capable guys inside as well on
(18:42):
the offensive side of the ball. I can't say enough
about a Chain and their running game and how they've
been playing behind that over the course of the last
month or so. When they've been on that win streak.
Even last week with Right, they were able to do
similar things that they've done.
Speaker 1 (19:03):
Let's talk Stealers. It's kickoff time for the Cigar Internationals.
Let's Talk Stealers show sponsored by Cigars International. Stop by
your Bridgeville store today. Parking Chair Vodka. Respect the chair.
It's a Pittsburgh thing, Forest Lodge and Camp Dround Cooks
(19:26):
Forest Pa. Your adventures starts here. Visit Canton, Ohio Red
Fox Winery and Lounge. Let's talk Stealers. Let's talk stealers.
Speaker 4 (19:50):
Hey, it's time for this week's Parking Chair Vodka Shot
of the Week.
Speaker 2 (19:55):
You know I have three favorite football teams.
Speaker 4 (19:58):
Of course, my pitt Panthers coach Fasio, the University of Alabama,
hell Bear Bryant, and since I'm Irish in heritage, I've
always loved the Notre Dame Irish.
Speaker 2 (20:11):
But I tell you what this week's shot of the
Week is.
Speaker 9 (20:13):
At the entire athletic department and coaching staff with the
Golden domers up there. Let me tell you something, Notre Dame,
it's not your birthright. It's not your birthright to go
to the national championship game. I don't know if the
committee got it right or wrong.
Speaker 2 (20:35):
By not putting you into the National Championship, but it
is an honor.
Speaker 4 (20:40):
It is a privilege to get well, you know, invited
to a bowl game. That's I get invited to the
you know, somebody's home, a mansion and saying I don't know,
I'm too good to go to the mansion. You disgraced yourself,
Notre Dame and your fans that are supporting you by
not going to a bowl game.
Speaker 2 (20:59):
It is a privilege and an honor.
Speaker 4 (21:02):
It is not your birthright to go and play for
a national championship.
Speaker 2 (21:10):
Will you hunch me into solar plexus right now?
Speaker 1 (21:13):
There is no.
Speaker 3 (21:17):
See that was too formal.
Speaker 4 (21:18):
I should just go like no, exactly, knocking me over
the face.
Speaker 3 (21:25):
I fall over very easy nowadays. Oh they're right, you
know what.
Speaker 4 (21:30):
Tounch and Wolf are missed every single day, not just
because of the fact that they were famous football players,
not the fact that Tounch and Wolf did so much.
You know, they were good announcers too, But why they're
really missed is because they were good guys.
Speaker 2 (21:48):
I knew both of them personally.
Speaker 4 (21:50):
I love both a mold offensive lineman, you know, tend
to get along. And they've really left a void with
the community outreach they've done, specifically with the Light of
Life Ministries here in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Speaker 2 (22:05):
And he's joining us today. She got her black and
gold on. I love it.
Speaker 10 (22:10):
Yep, we got to rock out the Light of Life
and the Stiller's Country.
Speaker 2 (22:13):
I love it.
Speaker 4 (22:13):
We're gonna have to get something to Tounch and Wolf
and you know, just Rememra and some every year tell
the folks what you do with Light of Life Ministry. Yeah.
Speaker 10 (22:21):
So, let Life has been serving it's first homeless community
for the last seventy plus years, since nineteen fifty two.
We serve homeless those that suffer from addiction or mental health,
and hopefully over the last.
Speaker 2 (22:36):
Decade or so, we found that.
Speaker 10 (22:38):
Not only the homeless community is in need of help,
but those that are on the brink of homelessness. So
this past year we actually opened up an outreach center
and within that outreach center has our hood Pantry, our
donation center, Freestore, and then just this past year as well,
we decided to partner with another nonprofit ministry, fold Off
the Floor. It's fur and so what they do is
(23:01):
they provide furniture for people transitioning out of homelessness. So
if you are someone that ends up getting you know,
off the street, and you're trying to start a new life.
Speaker 2 (23:09):
Sure, it's not easy. It's not easy. It's not easy.
Speaker 11 (23:12):
Things are going right, oh, in life, life is difficult
to think about it, even if you have a job
and everything's going great.
Speaker 2 (23:19):
You know, I always say life is like rice paper.
Speaker 11 (23:22):
It's very thin, it's very fragile, and you know, your
heart goes out, you know, to somebody, maybe the husband
passed away, and next thing you know, you've got three
or four kids you're trying to try to feed and
get on their feet, and you send the housing.
Speaker 10 (23:37):
Yes, yeah, a lot of people are still trying to
not only obtain their housing, obviously affordability and rend's going
up and grocery's going up. There's a lot of people
that were never on the bring of homelessness and now
they sort of find themselves.
Speaker 2 (23:53):
Living paycheck to paycheck because things are just increasing.
Speaker 10 (23:57):
But then of course if you're homeless, it's just that
much harder to sort of dig yourself out of that hole,
which is why life exists, right, Like, that's something that
Touch would always says. Famous quote was when you walk
into the doors a light of light, you're never the same.
Speaker 2 (24:14):
And we like to say that hope against the meal.
Speaker 12 (24:15):
So if you are someone who's unless and you just
come in simply for breakfast, lunch, you're to dinner, you
can then get exposed to our other services and programs
that will helpe sort of get.
Speaker 10 (24:26):
You out of the reasoning why you become holos to
begin is everybody stories their preak.
Speaker 2 (24:31):
Yeah, well I'm sure it is.
Speaker 4 (24:32):
Now what was it like a five can walk the
guys you used to have are we still continuing that?
Speaker 10 (24:38):
So just a little bit of background, I guess about
Touching Lever their involvement with the mission. You know, for
over forty years, around forty years those two guys were
serving at the Mission and started back in the eighties,
and then for about twenty years we had the Touch of.
Speaker 2 (24:55):
Gold Walk from Home.
Speaker 10 (24:56):
Yeah, and so they've raisedllions of dollars over those years,
just using their platform to help people misfortunate, to help
the homes, because that's what they truly believe that. We
eventually retired the walk after such a blessing, and Wolf
agreed to do a memorial golf outing to help raise
(25:19):
money for commission in seat.
Speaker 2 (25:20):
Which is actually funny. At the time of Wolf was
apparently those two hated golf and him take the bo Yeah,
I know they could.
Speaker 1 (25:27):
I know they did.
Speaker 4 (25:27):
I tried to get them to a couple of other
golf events and they're like, we'll ride around in the
car to smoke cigars.
Speaker 2 (25:34):
Look, if you didn't know Touch and Wolf, I'm telling
you what they brought to television was who they were
all the time. They were too mad then.
Speaker 4 (25:43):
And you know God has a purpose with everybody, I believe,
and he just decided to bring him home a little
bit earlier. Well, how can people help other people? You know,
we're strong here in Yunzer's Nation, We're strong in Steelers Nation.
You know, it's Christmas time, it's the giving time a year,
like my church over here in Amount eleven, and we
(26:05):
have a donation box. I plan to go down the
Walmart get some new items and put in there. How
many more new socks do I need? I cannot have
some cigars, you know, and put those a couple of
cigars away to help some other people in need out
not only the holiday season but year long with light
of life from ministries.
Speaker 2 (26:26):
How do people help you? How do they help their
friends and neighbor.
Speaker 10 (26:29):
So one of the great things about Pittsburgh is that
we are from the city where mister Rogers is from, right.
Speaker 2 (26:37):
So we learned it. We see him walking around, they
go there, you go, I love that, that's a real him.
An arm bum.
Speaker 10 (26:47):
Yes, can't forget how to arm if we are learning
from the great mister Rogers that he taught us to
help our neighbors, right, love our neighbors.
Speaker 2 (26:57):
And the great thing about light is there's people many
of different ways.
Speaker 10 (27:00):
That people can give back. Besides just of course, like
a monetary nation, our volunteers are.
Speaker 2 (27:06):
Really the heart of what we do amission.
Speaker 10 (27:09):
We have so many volunteers, so many different opportunities that
go on just you know, serving a meal of the.
Speaker 2 (27:15):
Kitchen line, and of course, like we need other donations.
Right now, we're doing a winter coat drive. We're trying
to actually get one thousand winter coats in mind for sure.
Speaker 10 (27:29):
Yes, even if it's used, it's gently used or new.
Speaker 2 (27:33):
And we're always in need of clothing. Of course, if
you have any like furniture that you'd like to donate,
you can now donate.
Speaker 10 (27:39):
That to off the floor and all of that is
housed in our outreach center, which is actually right across
the street from our emergency shelter building.
Speaker 2 (27:47):
That's on the north side, on the north side, Norse
side up there. You know, mister room meets houses and
of course you.
Speaker 10 (27:54):
Can go to Lighteflife dot org if you want to
have like a full encompassing experiences to all the ways
that you can give back to the mission. But I
just encourage people.
Speaker 2 (28:03):
We always encourage people do what's on your heart. That's
what tchi Wolf did. They would just come to.
Speaker 10 (28:08):
Our emergency shelter on a random Tuesday night with their
families just to serve. Media wasn't there. It didn't matter
to them.
Speaker 2 (28:15):
That's just what they wanted to do. That's what was
in their hearts.
Speaker 10 (28:17):
So if you have a heart for limited children, we
have a limited children's program as well, so you can
give back to that in a number of different ways.
So there's a lot that you can be doing year round,
but specifically this time of year for Christmas, there's a
lot of people outside.
Speaker 2 (28:32):
I mean it's a seventeen degrees outside.
Speaker 10 (28:34):
I don't imagine, so winter clothing, monitory donations, so we
can keep the meals going and the program's going.
Speaker 2 (28:41):
All of that goes such a long way.
Speaker 3 (28:44):
I love it. I love it.
Speaker 4 (28:45):
Look, if you're a Pittsburgh Steelers fan, if you missed Tounch.
Speaker 2 (28:50):
And Wolf like we all do, who knew them? Or
if you just want to.
Speaker 4 (28:54):
Help somebody that's in need, you can't find any better
organization than Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania The Light of Life.
Speaker 13 (29:01):
Now again, you're in the north side. What's the what's
the what do they call that thing? The old w
W You know you get on the Google machine in
your type sleeve too. I think they called a website.
What's the website?
Speaker 10 (29:13):
Yes, so our website would be the www dot lightoplace
dot org.
Speaker 3 (29:19):
I love it.
Speaker 2 (29:19):
I love it. It's right down there below.
Speaker 4 (29:21):
If you miss Tunching Wolf, if you want to help
your Pittsburgh neighbors, help a beautiful cause in Pittsburgh, happy holidays.
Speaker 2 (29:28):
Look, it's mister Rooney.
Speaker 3 (29:32):
Right man, awesome team win.
Speaker 8 (29:35):
I'm just appreciative of the effort of the men in
that locker room. It's classic Steelers Ravens. Unfortunately, maybe a
lot of guys go down in the game, but that's
kind of been a component of it too. Darnel Washington
had a concussion, Malik Harrison had a concussion, Pete had
(29:57):
a concussion, had an ankle.
Speaker 3 (30:01):
He was able to go back.
Speaker 8 (30:03):
A couple other evals I think they were able to
go back, but it's really kind of indicative of how
this game is played.
Speaker 4 (30:09):
Man.
Speaker 3 (30:10):
Appreciate the efforts.
Speaker 8 (30:12):
Big win for us obviously in the hostile environment, and
we'll keep moving. Questions rank you jack down the field
right off the back and did the second half, So
it was it important with some of the second half
of Walls and because I just think we were in
an aggressive posture all day. I just think that's how
we got out of bed this morning. That's what's required
when you playing these guys in their venue.
Speaker 2 (30:32):
What did you see that did it make you feel
comfortable you could attack on that work.
Speaker 8 (30:37):
I just think that's the way we needed to play.
We needed to be aggressive. We just been in here
a lot. We're familiar with them in this environment and
that's what's required.
Speaker 2 (30:47):
Like what do you speak the defense?
Speaker 4 (30:48):
I know wasn't obviously what you wanted overall that he
did hold the terms of free videos.
Speaker 3 (30:53):
Man, I'm just appreciative man it.
Speaker 8 (30:56):
You know, we had start having linebackers go down that
period of time when Patrick was unavailable to us was uncomfortable.
But that's just the component of it. That's why it's
the ultimate team game. I'm just appreciative of the collective efforts.
Speaker 14 (31:08):
Coh likely non touchdown and the fourth quarter Joey Porter
never gave up on that play.
Speaker 2 (31:15):
What do you have to say about that?
Speaker 3 (31:17):
You know, just appreciative of the effort.
Speaker 8 (31:20):
That's just kind of indicative of how the game needs
to be played and you know, be a good example,
uh of that.
Speaker 2 (31:27):
Like you speak that Alex Heismith and how he stepped up.
Speaker 3 (31:30):
In some of the big players he needs to be man.
Speaker 8 (31:32):
I thought, as the game got thick, you just really
felt you really felt his presence. We're actually coming out
of that very last time out and he turned around
walking back toward the bench with me.
Speaker 3 (31:45):
I was like, Alex, what are you doing?
Speaker 10 (31:46):
Man?
Speaker 8 (31:47):
Get back in there, and I'm thankful that I did,
cause Uh, obviously, man, he made the player today.
Speaker 2 (31:53):
Did you think likely he's case it?
Speaker 8 (31:56):
I did not, But I know sometimes you know, in
the effort to get it right, they'll signal a little
touchdown and give it the benefit of the review.
Speaker 3 (32:03):
But no, I didn't think it was a touchdown like.
Speaker 2 (32:06):
Big day for GK. But he also was a gunner
and actually drew a holy penalty on that play. What
do you say about his that person just showing that
versatility as well?
Speaker 3 (32:13):
You know, Uh, he just brought that approach all week.
Speaker 8 (32:16):
I think oftentimes game day is indicative of what transpires
doing the week. I just thought that he had a
can do attitude. Man, he was wired all week. He
texted me after hours, et cetera. But I just appreciate
his mindset and what he brought into the building today.
Speaker 11 (32:31):
Like, I don't know if you ever did a a
sense of this, cause did you just feel a sense
that Aaron was in control the whole day?
Speaker 3 (32:38):
I did?
Speaker 8 (32:39):
But again, you know, we knew what was on the
line today, and that's why you go do business with
a guy like Aaron For thick days like today. He's
been there done that guy, but beyond the experienced component
of it, he relishes it.
Speaker 3 (32:56):
Uh, you can just tell. And and that's the benefit
of having a guy like and you said, do you.
Speaker 2 (33:01):
Then you were going to need to be more aggressive
at the getizing communion? Did you take that mind set
in at the beginning of the week. Was that something
you spent more extra time on?
Speaker 3 (33:09):
Yes?
Speaker 2 (33:10):
How would you playoffs? For the week of practice?
Speaker 3 (33:12):
Did you fit you?
Speaker 2 (33:13):
Did you see the responsible guys? Did you like what
you saw?
Speaker 3 (33:16):
Yeah?
Speaker 8 (33:16):
No, practice is just that it prepares you for play,
and so we were reserving judgment until we got in stadium.
Speaker 14 (33:22):
Culch only thirty four yards Russian today. But if you
were able to stress the field a number of times,
you feel that since you worried for the stress the
fields today, that may be moving forward that would.
Speaker 8 (33:33):
Help you run game they smashed just today, you know, Uh,
I gotta give them credit. Uh, we weren't able to
get it going the way that we desired, and then
certainly as attrition set in, we weren't able to to
maintain their run. And that's what made the game, uh
as tight as it.
Speaker 2 (33:48):
Was anyone else. You hit that sat rum and Wilson say,
because of the veteran receivers. Full wedding of that.
Speaker 8 (33:55):
Exactly what you said, because of the veteran receivers.
Speaker 1 (34:01):
Let's talk Stealers. HiT's kickoff time for the Cigar Internationals.
Let's talk Stealers show sponsored by Cigars International. Stuff by
your Bridgeville store Today, Parking Chair Vodka, Respect the Chair.
It's a Pittsburgh thing, Forest Ladging Camp, Drowning Cooks, Forest Pa.
(34:26):
Your adventures starts here. Visit Canton, Ohio, Red Fox Winery
and Lounge. Let's talk stealer. They leave them on the
field quite a bit.
Speaker 8 (34:42):
They don't go to dime on third down and things
of that nature like a lot of teams do this
time of year. Twenty and twenty five are gonna be
in the middle of everything. I think they've been really
solid in the secondary once they solidify some of their
you know, divisional labor. I think Mica has been significant
in that regard. He's been playing nickel for them, and
they've got more depth, certainly at safety than they do
(35:05):
at corner and and Maker's versatility has been an asset
to him. He's done an awesome job as a as
a guy that plays closer to the line of scrimmage
in the nickel position.
Speaker 3 (35:15):
A guy that blitzes certainly.
Speaker 8 (35:17):
In base he plays free safety, and there's a hub
of communication and center fielder back there for him. There,
they got two really good solid veteran corner Let's talk steeler.
Speaker 4 (35:30):
Hey, don't forget about Forest Lodge and Campground. I was
up there this fall. It's beautiful. Go north of Pittsburgh,
Cooks Forest. You're gonna love it up there. You can
drink beer and talk steelers all day long around beautiful
fire pits at Forest Lodge and Campground. Welcome back to
Let's talk Steelers from Cigars International, Bridgeville, Pennsylvania. Mike and
(35:53):
Tank sitting there talking about the Ravens thing, you know, unit.
Speaker 2 (35:57):
During a commercial break.
Speaker 4 (35:58):
We're talking a little bit about offensive rankings, defensive rankings.
You know.
Speaker 2 (36:03):
Offensively they ranked twenty seventh in this category in twenty
three How many teams are in the NFL thirty two,
thirty two.
Speaker 4 (36:10):
Okay, Defensively they rank, you know, twenty seventh and thirtieth
in this I'm going to tell you something.
Speaker 2 (36:18):
If I'm a.
Speaker 4 (36:19):
Coach, all right, and I'm putting on the crazy tank
head coach thing right now. I am throwing chairs, I
am breaking chalkboards, and I am losing my mind right
now because this is unacceptable. You want to make a
winning football team, you want to win another Super Bowl
(36:39):
number seven or eight or whatever it is we're after here, You,
as a head coach, don't walk into your facility and go,
you know, our offensive rankings were twenty three, twenty seven,
ninety's doing that. He's going to be Well, what I'm
saying is I don't want him blow and kisses at
the camera when he goes down to Baltimore and he
barely wins that game because the referees helped him.
Speaker 15 (37:01):
Well likely caught, yes or no, likely caught the ball
and it was a touchdown.
Speaker 2 (37:08):
Uh, touchdown Ravens and it's a victory.
Speaker 4 (37:10):
I don't want Tomlin blowing kisses at the camera after stuff.
Speaker 5 (37:15):
Like well, I don't see where he's twenty times winning.
Winning in the NFL is one of the hardest things
to do in the world. To win a game in
the NFL.
Speaker 2 (37:25):
It's difficult. So you have to celebrate those ways. You
have to. The season's two up and down. What are
you gonna stay down all your life?
Speaker 5 (37:32):
And you gotta get some positivity, you know, you gotta
you gotta go to you know, decided.
Speaker 2 (37:37):
To become the work. So you've got to celebrate those walls. Okay,
so you get all I had. I had five cups
of off here.
Speaker 5 (37:44):
You know, whether it was pretty, whether it was ugly. Look,
I thought Rogers played outstanding. I thought he led the
team to a great victory. The defense stepped up when
they needed to. Hey, the referees helped him out. It
doesn't matter.
Speaker 2 (37:56):
It's a win. It's a rivalry game. And now you're
for get it and they're moved on to the next week.
Now they got the Dolphins. Then they've got the Lions,
who's fighting for their life. Look, then they've got the Bengals,
who are still not dangly out of it yet.
Speaker 5 (38:10):
I mean, you take away the Joe Burrow hand grenade interception,
they win, they go in to upset the Buffalo, and
then you've got the Ravens again. So it's like, listen,
celebrating wing you just had this week. Now, get back
to work, move on, and it's one game of time
from this point forward. You've got four games left.
Speaker 2 (38:30):
All right, And I agree with Mike enjoy the moment.
Speaker 4 (38:33):
I just didn't like the blow into the kiss fight
Tomlin afterwards like he'd won the Super Bowl or AFC Championship.
Speaker 2 (38:39):
Win is win, rivalry win. I don't care how you
get it. I don't care what the referee is saying do.
Speaker 3 (38:45):
The win is a win.
Speaker 4 (38:46):
That's all it matters, all right, all right, So that
Miami Tuna fisher coming up here, and I'm going to
switch over to our defense right now again, just to
harken on how low they are stats, the yards they
are giving up, horrible pass defense.
Speaker 2 (39:02):
And the anomaly for me is this, And I want
to evaluate last week's game in a positive aspect.
Speaker 4 (39:08):
Joey Porter put his hands in his pocket a little bit,
and he played some decent football.
Speaker 2 (39:14):
He wasn't holding people.
Speaker 4 (39:15):
Even the week before we were talking about how he
made so many tackles. So I do want to get
props to Joey Porter. Maybe he's growing up, maybe he's
learning a little bit. And I tell you who's a
baller who's finally coming into his own James Pierre Mike.
At one point he sprinted across the field sixty yards
to make a tackle.
Speaker 2 (39:37):
That's called hustle. And he made some great plays.
Speaker 4 (39:41):
You look at the ability of game well, you look
at Jalen Warren.
Speaker 2 (39:46):
There's talent on this team. Defensively, I mean, I love
what Ramsey's doing. Again, it comes down to, I've said
it all season, the offense.
Speaker 4 (40:00):
The Miami Dolphins, they're very, very good at running the football.
Speaker 2 (40:05):
The Steelers off defensive line has been playing this.
Speaker 4 (40:08):
Crazy stack and shed I don't think it works against
the Dolphins. And again the linebacking corps. There's some bright
spots on defense, Mike, but again go.
Speaker 2 (40:20):
To the stats. They're at the bottom of the league.
Speaker 3 (40:23):
In so men.
Speaker 5 (40:24):
Well, again, it's going to come down to the first
stat that matters most directly to winning and losing is
the turnover, takeover back. You know, hey, the Steelers again
number one in forced fumbles. The Dolphins are number two
in forced bumbles. So both defenses are good at punching
the football. Who can take care of the football, who
(40:45):
can minimize that is going to have the edge.
Speaker 2 (40:48):
Secondly, it's going to come down to establishing the run
on the offense and stopping the winner of the Delphins.
Speaker 5 (40:56):
The Dolphins are eighth in the league and rushing right now,
the middle of the pack fourteen in passing.
Speaker 2 (41:04):
The Steelers past defense is not the greatest. Right now,
they're allowing to make two. It look like Van Marine.
Speaker 5 (41:13):
Well, they're gonna have to force him to you know,
and will they use the play action passing?
Speaker 4 (41:17):
Me?
Speaker 5 (41:17):
If I'm the Dolphins with eight chan is my running
back and I'm trying to establish that run, i am
gonna go to play action and try to get Jayalen
wallall loosen that secondary. They have enough weapons to cause
some concern. But again, the Steelers, to me, they've got
to be able to run the football. The Dolphins pass
defense is slightly better, or actually it's much better. Dolphins
(41:40):
pass defense is eight and their run defenses middle of
the pack.
Speaker 2 (41:44):
But you've got to establish a run. You've got to
use up the clock. The Dolphins are probably gonna use
up the clock.
Speaker 5 (41:49):
This could be the first game, if you know, the
shortest game. If they're both running football back and forth.
It's just who can protect the football and then who
can come.
Speaker 2 (41:57):
Away with the red zone points? You know they can
they punch it in. The Dolphins have struggled recently into
the red zone a little bit. You know, they've had
a few here and there. But they're big on the run.
They get the run game.
Speaker 5 (42:09):
If a chan gets loose and he's got the feed
to take it to the distance, that's where your concern is.
So again, get up there, load the box, stop that
run place a man, you know, because here's the thing.
If you're playing man coverage, there's you're not watching. Your
eyes aren't in the back. Go as much on the
play actual pass. Just stick to your guy, trust the
front seven to do their job, and don't let anyone
(42:33):
loose in the secondary so they don't get those big
plays off the play actual pass. Dolphins aren't gonna throw
the ball. Mutch are about twenty times a game throwing.
So you want to get them into that something that
they're uncomfortable with.
Speaker 2 (42:44):
Force two of to throw, force.
Speaker 5 (42:46):
Him to hold onto it, and you know you never
might knock him out with the concussion because he is
a little concussion.
Speaker 2 (42:52):
Throw, which is absolutely a shame.
Speaker 4 (42:54):
You know.
Speaker 2 (42:55):
I do want to mention something. Sante Samuels, So Sante Samuels, Mike.
Speaker 4 (42:59):
When this kid came in the league, he was a baller,
and he has that spinal cord injury that harkins right
back to our good buddy playing inside linebacker.
Speaker 2 (43:10):
A few years ago Ryan Shazier when he went down,
I mean.
Speaker 4 (43:14):
To play professional football with a few spine doesn't mean
that he still doesn't have game, and it doesn't mean
he can't cover. I do expect that he's going to
get elevated from the practice squad and see time this week.
Speaker 2 (43:29):
What better way against a team it's a heavy running team.
Speaker 4 (43:32):
Get him back there, get him a little bit familiar
with his teammates.
Speaker 2 (43:35):
Well, yeah, so that you know, that's one aspect.
Speaker 5 (43:38):
But I will say the other aspect, You've got to
look at his no One, no one should know the Dolphins.
Speaker 2 (43:46):
They should be able to manipulate them. They shouldn't. No
one should know.
Speaker 5 (43:50):
Making Fitzpatrick better with jo a bit of a rendered prevention.
He's coming back to Pittsburgh.
Speaker 3 (43:56):
Oh, he's with a chip on his shoulder and.
Speaker 5 (43:58):
He's going to be ready. I'm sure he has that
defense fired up. So can you use what you know
about him against him?
Speaker 3 (44:06):
Boop?
Speaker 2 (44:06):
I love it a chess match, no doubt about it.
Speaker 4 (44:09):
So as you look at this Pittsburgh Steelers team, Mike's
a little bit more optimistic.
Speaker 2 (44:13):
He's taking it one game at a.
Speaker 4 (44:15):
Time enjoying it one day at a time, a game
at a time, which, look, I'm going to be one
of the saddest people whins football season's over.
Speaker 2 (44:23):
Oh, I got to look for is ice skating on
NBC to watch, which ain't bad.
Speaker 15 (44:27):
You know some of those Yeah ladies are pretty good looking,
but I'm not into ice skating and I love football.
I guess what I'm saying is the win over Baltimore
was simply that.
Speaker 4 (44:39):
It left me flat knowing that likely did make that
touchdown and we should have lost. I am flat knowing
that statistically, both offensively and defensively, this team is towards
the bottom of the league in so many stats, and
it just leaves me wanting more. Mike, I think they
(45:00):
split this series.
Speaker 7 (45:01):
They beat the Tuna Fish, They're gonna stick them in
the can, send them back to Miami.
Speaker 4 (45:06):
They're gonna go up to York Detroit Lions and get
smoked by the Detroit Lions.
Speaker 2 (45:12):
I think they lose to the Bengals, then all bets
are off and we got to play the grave out here.
They're not gonna lose the Bengals. They're gonna play the Browns.
I mean the brown Yeahs, and the Browns.
Speaker 5 (45:26):
You're gonna have to deal with Males Garrett, and obviously
then you're gonna to deal. So you know, you've got
the Dolphins this week, you got Nikki coming back.
Speaker 2 (45:32):
In revenge games. They're on a four game win street.
They're feeling good.
Speaker 5 (45:35):
They're fighting for a potential last singing spot on the playoffs.
Speaker 2 (45:40):
Well, first of all, they haven't beaten anybody. You know,
they've brut this this rint streak. Ain't beaten nobody.
Speaker 4 (45:46):
They ain't beating the Texans, they ain't beating the Patriots.
Speaker 2 (45:49):
I think they beat up on the Jets and a
couple other bumps too high and low to it's the caffeine.
Speaker 5 (45:55):
You won a game, you were mad about the win
last week.
Speaker 2 (45:58):
It wasn't good enough, but they to win. So now
they played Mica. Then they've got to go up in Detroit.
Now you're gonna play some of these good passions.
Speaker 5 (46:05):
You got Aiden Hutchinson in the fall, We've got Miles Garrett,
and then you've got the rivalry game against the Baltimore Ravens.
Speaker 2 (46:11):
Sell one game at a time, find a way to win.
I don't care if it's pretty, I don't care. If
it's ugly, I don't care if you killed him. I
don't care if you win by one point. I don't
care if the referee he's giving me fire all relax,
it's one game, all right.
Speaker 4 (46:28):
I'm Tank, He's Mike. I want to say one last thing.
You better keep an eye on that blind side. You know,
Roderick Jones went down. He's out for the season with
his injest injury. From what everybody on the south side
is telling me now, all.
Speaker 2 (46:42):
Of a sudden, mister Pete was playing some decent football.
Keys also a out with a head injury.
Speaker 4 (46:50):
You're down to Cookie over there left tackle, and your
starting quarterback.
Speaker 2 (46:55):
