It's and you start looking at the record and you're like, okay,
to losses, how does that happen?

Back to back, you lost to the Ravens and the
Texans on the road both games. That was a full
power Texans team, which we're not gonna see again this year.
Diggs ain't coming back. That's a Ravens team that fluctuates
how they play. The most consistent team right now, besides

the Chiefs and the Lions would be the Bills.

Speaker 4 (00:52):
Right Ooh, did you just show me your hand for
power rankings coming up Tuesday? If we had to do
power rankings right now? Liked go Chiefs, Lyne Bills. They're
probably the third best team in the NFL right now.
And it's hard because Baltimore destroyed them earlier in the season,
and Baltimore might be in that discussion. But Baltimore's lost
to Cleveland, Buffalo's They've lost to Kansas City as well.

But the way Buffalo plays, I would be ready to
say that game would feel a little bit different and
they might not have to play the Ravens. This is
one of the top four teams in the NFL. I
will stick with three, and I was curious, I think
with a lot of Bills fans of what this team
would be with all of the changes. Bills fans think
about the difference you're winning close games. You mentioned it, Lavac,
like Miami put up everything they could in that game.

That's about as good as a fight that Miami had
left with Tua and everybody on defense. That was a
great fight. I thought about this because sometimes I do this,
I wonder, like what are local people thinking about their teams,
because sometimes locally the take you might here might be
different than what you think of the team nationally. Here's
how good things are for the Buffalo Bills in Western

New York. This seriously happened following the victory. The Afterdoon
Guy's out in Buffalo, they had a serious conversation about
this about an hour after they win. Five minute argument
whether or not Sean McDermott should have kicked the field goal,
the one.

Speaker 3 (02:12):
That won the game.

Speaker 4 (02:14):
What is there an argument about he hit a sixty
one yarder they won the game. Well, you know, they
paid him a lot of money and should have determined
to gone for it on fourth down? Was it the
right it went in? They won the game. This is
how good things are for Buffalo Bills. You going to
invite problems. You were inviting problems. You are saying to yourself,
I wonder if that was the right call when we
all saw it was the right call. And they're one

of the top four teams. That's how good it is
in Buffalo. There's not a lot to criticize when you've
got an MVP caliber quarterback, a young running back, young
receivers who have stepped up. The secondary Statistically is not
gonna be great, but they made plays and you're what
five games up on the division now, after the Patriots
Titan game, after the Dolphin victory, it's about as good

as you could have hoped for.

Bills fans enjoy this right now, and it's you.

Gotta but you gotta realize what Bills fan is right, like,
like they have one of the most loyal fan bases.
They you know, we talked to Sean Merriman last week.
They have one of, if not the greatest tailgate party.
They they also have seen things, you know what I mean,
like why.

Why right wide? Left? Why this?

Why do Like I can see where they would be
like did that really happen? Like did we are sixty
sixty one and it went through the middle? Like we
we won on a field goal?

Because this is and this is a different Bills team.
Like you when you go back to the to the
Super Bowl teams and I know that they're the butt
of the joke whatever, but when you really look at
the talent that they had for those four teams, they
were flashy, they were over the top. They were big,
like you know, Jim Kelly's out there with big cigar,

hand of his mouth, closing bars, Andre Reid's living the dream,
Bruce Smith, Darryl Talley, like that was that was a
bunch of stars.

Speaker 3 (04:08):
This isn't a bunch of stars. This is one real
big star.

Speaker 2 (04:13):
And Josh Allen and a bunch of littler stars, like
this is not this is not built like that team
was built. And I will tell you that I think
it was probably one of the better moves all year
to go get a Marik Cooper because you drafted Keon Coleman.
You said you're a number one receiver. That's it, you're
number one. And he did. He made some nice catches.

He took a horrible hitting them, but he's not a
number one yet. And they had realized it. They admitted it,
and they addressed it, and they addressed it cheaply. They
went and got a Marik Cooper who had a touchdown
of the very first games back. He didn't play this week,
but like, that was a good move. That was a
smart move. Brandon Bean and Sean McDermott, whether you liked

them or you don't like them, they don't overreact. They
stay the course, but they adapt when they need to.

And that is the jealousy I feel as.

Speaker 2 (05:08):
A Raiders fan, who I don't know who my offensive
staff is this week, Like, come on, man, like it's
the Bills are onto something. If they can just stay
the course all year and then get past Kansas City
in the end, why couldn't they be in the Super Bowl?
Why couldn't you know this be their year? I don't

see you know what you just said. Who do I
see ahead of them? Right now? Kansas City is undefeated,
but they could definitely beat Kansas City. Baltimore did beat you,
but Baltimore is up and down. They ebb and flow.
You could take them down. And if it's the Lions,
well that means you're in the super Bowl. So here
we go, like I as the AFC goes, right now,

they're at worst the third best team.

Let's play the sound for divisional winners. Okay.

Speaker 4 (05:57):
So let's say the Chiefs win the West. Okay, let's
say Baltimore wins the North. Let's say Buffalo wins the East,
and we'll just go with Houston wins the seventh. Okay,
So now we've got you know, your opening wildcard draw
is not gonna be one of those three teams just
because of how the brackets are set up. You're in
the mix for the one seed. But for the sake
of this conversation, we'll give Kansas City the one seed. Okay,

So here the two seed going into the postseason, which
I believe you were last season as well. You're gonna
draw the lowest rank qualifying team in the postseason, so
you're looking at either maybe the Chargers, maybe the Colts,
maybe the Broncos, whoever it is. You're gonna feel confident
going into that game at home that you're gonna win.
And then you're either going to avoid the Chiefs until

the conference title game because of the seeding purposes, and
Baltimore will face off against maybe a divisional team. Baltimore
might draw Pittsburgh or Cincinnati. The bracket could be in
favor of Buffalo more this season than ever before in
this run.

Speaker 3 (06:58):
With Sean McDermott, I don't like what you just.

Speaker 2 (07:02):
Said, Oh okay, because you just described the Yankees and
that didn't work out.

Speaker 3 (07:08):
They got to the title game.

Speaker 2 (07:12):
When you've won twenty seven, that's good to go, you
know what I mean. Like, it's now that I'm over it.
I'm over it. I'm more worried about what else they're
gonna do and how they're gonna rebuild this team and
who's coming back and who's not and whatever. But like,
if you're the Bills, if you're the Bills, if you're
the Mafia, when you get there again. You gotta win.
You got it, because right now that shuts that joke down.

The four Falls of Buffalo, the only team to ever
get there four times in a row and never win. Bob, Bob,
all those things. You win one, people can say that
to you. Yeah we won this year. No, you lost sport.
He's the only team that will lose four in a row. Yeah,
made only team to make for in a row two.
But hey, peace out, we won.

Where they lose, it's same old Bills. At least I
know I know who to bet against the next three,
you know what I mean? Like, it's they got they need.
If there's a fan base that needs the championship win
more than the Bills, it's a tough one to figure out.

Speaker 4 (08:08):
You'd also be seeking out a problem Bills fans. I
don't disagree with that that there's the most curse franchise
in pro sport, the most passion all that stuff. I
would love, truly love to see the Bills mafi New Orleans.
If you and I are covering the Super Bowl New
Orleans and the Bills Mafia's invading or Lions fans are
there or fan bases of a team who hasn't gone
before or ever been, or been a long time. That

makes the city much more fun leading.

Speaker 3 (08:31):
Up to it.

Speaker 4 (08:32):
To have the Bills Mafia New Orleans would be a
wild time. I thought Vegas is going to be the
year New Orleans can find some places for the Bills
Mafia to have fun. Do not complain about your draw.
It does not diminish what it could be for your
road to the Super Bowl. You and I had the
discussion about the Yankees. Do you want the easiest road,
do you want to be tested? Do you want to
answer your critics? That's preference. I would like the easiest road.

(08:53):
I would like to have my team benefit in the
most ways in which to make that path easier. Like
I'll just use the Buccaneers most recently, right like when
Tampa won with Brady, their draw was they got a
divisional winner in Washington who had a below five hundred record.
They then flipped around in the next round and played
New Orleans, who they lost to twice during the season,
and they beat them the third time. And then they

drew Green Bay in the title game for the NFC,
who they'd beat by twenty plus points in the regular season.
They flipped around and did it again, so it worked
in their favorite Yankee fans know what the draw was
most recently for the Yankees. You can't change the bracket,
just like you can't change the schedule. You play who's
in front of you. If these are the things Bill's
fans are complaining about in November, that whether or not
it was a bad decision to kick a game winning

field goal if that went in, or how good or
how bad your draw could be in the postseason, life
is great. They were not talking about firing coaches. Mcdermot's
got eighty wins. Now, you're not talking about getting a
new quarterback in the draft. These are champagne problems Bill's
fans are having here at the first weekend in November.

I want, more than anything right now this year's Super
Bowl to feature the Buffalo Bills and the only other
team to be owing four in the Super Bowl, the
Minnesota Vikings.

Oh how much? How great was that?

Like, you know you're coming out of it with one
of the four teams no longer being owned four.

Speaker 4 (10:18):
I watched a lot of that game. I thought I
was gonna fall asleep. I was proud of myself, right,
I thought I was going down. Indy's defense is very good,
and I know that the headlines have been And there
was a part in that game where I thought, actually
the crew was too hard on Anthony richards And if
you go back and watch that late second quarter, the
game was very boring. But NBC was like, did we
tell you about Anthony Richardson. Here's his stats, here's his graphic,

Is he really game? Right up? Unough, we get it,
he stinks enough.

Speaker 4 (10:47):
But their defense is good and Darnold, for about the
fifth sixth time this season, I shrugged my shoulders and
I'm like, these are phenomenal throws. He's got an all
pro receiver. Minnesota's proven me wrong. Week after a week.
They're making all the plays they need to. It's a
possibility of Minnesota is in the super Bowl. There absolutely is.
That is a I know you wagered on Bill's rams
another future ticket.

I'll look it up. I'll look it up. That's like,
what is that the exactive wheel? Bill's over? Bill's over?
I want to like, I wonder what it is.

Speaker 2 (11:17):
But if it's not for those two interceptions, and and
you said it, Cole Stephen's very good.

All right, let me ask you.

I know I in the in the kickstarter I brought
Darnold is he is he legit QB one?

But like.

With with the throws he can make, you know, the
game winning touchdown, like he slinked at things on arms.

It was a beautiful catch, but.

Speaker 2 (11:39):
Like, not everybody can even make that that throw? Is
is he gunslinger enough? Where I it's three Yeah, sure
it's two interceptions, but it's three touchdowns.

It's okay.

I'm gonna go back to something we also talked about
in the three o'clock hour about the Giants, where I
looked at that Giant loss and I was like, this
is a team two years ago that beat Minnesota, and
Minnesota was fantastic in the regular season, But what happened
post that playoff appearance. Minnesota's got a new quarterback, new
head coach, a few a new running back. They made
a lot of changes from a playoff team that was

one of the best teams in the regular season two
years ago. The Giants didn't same coach, same quarterback, new
running back.

Speaker 3 (12:17):
That did im prove it that spot.

Speaker 4 (12:19):
So can Darnold make the plays and be the player
you can rely on in the postseason. I have seen
no signs so far through twenty twenty four that I
would even consider making any changes, so I'll lean towards Yes.
That's how good Minnesota is. They're a balanced team, Aaron
Jones out of the backfield.

Speaker 3 (12:34):
They're awesome.

Speaker 4 (12:34):
And you talk about a fan base, and I was
giving the bills of Mafia love and you talked about
like that school stuff before the game, if you like,
we're East Coasters. I don't know how often people are
in the Capitol region are watching viaking games. That might
be on my list of a game to go to,
because that is one hundred thousand people. It seems like
doing the school stuff, that's a pretty sweet environment. I
got thrown out of that stadium, so maybe I'm ali.

I just all right, like this Baker's not playing next year?

Speaker 2 (13:01):
You want Sam Donald, No Dale Jones, Sam Donald, Oh,
Sam Donald, Harpy whoever the hell is lining up in
Vegas or Sam Donald, Sam Donald. I'm you know, I'm
afraid I think Sam Donald's gonna come the next Teddy Bridgewater,
the Bridge quarterback. Everybody's like, all right, you gotta have
him for that one year till your rookie's ready to go,

but in Minnesot's probably.

I would think, because Jagy McCarthy as he's not doing anything,
he's too hurt.

problem to have if you have to approach that with
two really good quarterbacks. You know what you probably do
with your Minnesota You probably h franchise Tag Donald and
then hope another teams so aggressive with an offer you
send them off.

live for it the way some people do. If God

feel like he's toning it down for most people.

Gus is uncomfortable with Eddie Lampkin having forty four on
his jersey?

I guess that came out in when juneish and people

and Derek Coleman kind of led the way on it,
which didn't help matters. Going back to when he wore
forty four and John Wallace for forty four. I, you know,

I don't have a problem with it. I say, like,
why not hand it out to people?

Well, what I said at the time, and I'll say
this now is if DC's complaining about it, we haven't
really heard John Wallace say anything about it. DC and
Wallace are going to get so much airtime this season
on all the TV games from people talking about it
that it's almost like their careers are both going to
be brought back to life. So I think they'll realize
the net positives before before all said and done for
their legacies because we're going to watch every highlight of

their career on every TV broadcast this season.

I'm sure Brian could do another three hours on the
legacy of forty four. I will leave like Pat and
Syracuse and Drowing plays dude, the legendary callers you deal
with on a daily to yell and scream with.

You about forty four. But I would yell and scream
at you about forty four. But I want to do
that today. He is a guest on the show. He

Let's talk about Donny Freeman. Donny Freeman, the highest rated
recruit since Carmelo Anthony.

Speaker 3 (17:31):
What are realistic expectations for him this season?

Speaker 5 (17:35):
I'd say realistic. Is he Mellow? No? Why because nobody's
that like that was That's a once in a lifetime
for the most part situation. But I'll say this, you
see him at the exhibition games. I mean, the dude
is huge, Like he's he's legitimately six ten, six eleven.
He's a big dude. A very modern game, Like he
can get you inside, he can get you outside, he

can put the ball on the deck, he can d
up a little. I'll be very intrigued to see where
his season goes, because you know, when Mellow was here,
it was like game one of the year. It was like,
holy crap, Look at this guy and that that never happens.

Speaker 2 (18:12):
So is it that?

Speaker 5 (18:13):
No, But I think he's got a chance to be
legit really good mock drafts first round guy at least,
you know, early projections before he's actually played. But I'll
be really intrigued to see, like, if he can become
one of the top two three best players on the
team this season, I think that really elevates the ceiling
of what this team can do this year.

Speaker 2 (18:34):
Brian basketball is more fun when QS is in it
and they have a road to the tournament, and my
life is more fun because Godz doesn't cry as much.

Speaker 3 (18:42):
Is there is this team good enough to be in
the dance?

Speaker 5 (18:46):
Uh? Yeah, I think so. I think so, But I
think we've also seen the last few years. It's a
lot harder to be certain about that as we get
going here tonight with Lemoyne and then we'll see where
it goes in the next few weeks and months. But yeah,
and I think it's so confusing because there's so little

(19:09):
there from last year's team, and it's just the way
the way of the world in college hoops and college sports.
Right now, you have all these four to fifty year
guys coming from lower level programs that all had great
stats and success and careers at their place. They all
looked reasonably the part in the exhibition games that's against
D two teams. Will they look the part in the

(19:31):
ACC games? I think they can, but it's hard to
say that for sure until we see it. I think
also last year, like the chemistry of last year's teams
and the behind the scenes stuff, there was a lot
going on, and just listen to the red talk at
some of these press conferences had so far, I think
the behind the scenes whatever this year will be in

(19:51):
a lot better place. So whatever the talent level is
versus the last couple of years, I think this year's
team may just have a less bumpy ride through the season.

Speaker 4 (20:00):
Whether it's the transfer portal, whether it's guys reclassifying, it
just feels like college basketball is becoming a tougher sport
to follow, and over the course of the next few
weeks and maybe in the next few months, Syracuse basketball
fans are going to be introduced to names they hadn't
known a month or two ago. What names is going
to be one of those that right now in the preseason,
as we prep for the year that maybe's not familiar

(20:22):
with Orange fans, but in about a month or two,
be like, Okay, this guy could be a standown player
for the team.

Speaker 5 (20:28):
I think you mentioned two of them, Like Lampkin's going
to be the starting center. We're assuming that Freeman will
be the starting four, though they've been playing around with
starting lineups in the exhibition games, so we don't know
that one hundred percent, but he either way is going
to play a lot. Like a name to watch out
for is Juda Mensac here in the last couple of years,
and man, he was a ball dominant, high scoring point guard.

(20:50):
The guy they brought in out of the portal out
of Hallstra is Ja Kawan Carlos. Not a huge dude,
pass first point guard, really different kind of player, but
he's going to be the starting point guard in Syracuse
and the range haven't had a you know, a table
setting point guard like him in a while. Like is
he a star, No, but I think he's a guy

(21:11):
that you know, he can grease the wheels of a
successful offense, the Epeski defender and just by the nature
of the position, he's gonna have the ball in his
hands a lot. So I think that is name one,
you know, aside from the obvious of Lancoin and Freeman.
Then we got to put eyes on from the new
guys this season.

Speaker 2 (21:27):

big big name in all of hoops. We've now stole him.
We've moved him back to where you came from. We

be missed in recruiting? And you know, if so, how

how much of a boon can he be for us?

He actually moved in in the street next to my parents,
so I got the like I got the scout on
his yard. I mean, we got the whole thing going
going out. He had to find the five begsroom one
to get all his kids in there. But that like,
he makes the best. Like if you don't like Jerry,
like I don't, I don't know what the deal is
with you, Like something's wrong with you If you don't
like Jerry, He's he's great talking to he's a great

basketball mind. Yeah, he'll definitely be missed around here and
there's still people around here that thought he should have
gotten the job over Red, you know whatever with that.
You know, Rand I think was the guy. He was
the right guy at the time. Though we love Jerry
around here, I don't see any reason he doesn't do
a fantastic job at Sienna. I mean, you guys know that,

like Sianna, as far as job's in the MAC, like
the ceilings Sianna has is higher than anybody else in
the league, Like when they're cooking, it's great. I think
Jerry will have a shot to hit that as long
as he gets some players in there. And from the
sound of it, he did that this year. But yeah,
I think you guys are really really going to enjoy him.
And you know, the hope for him is, you know,

he kills it there. He does what some of the
guys did there before him. Fan McCaffrey going back, Louis
or a going back like, hopefully he kills it and
the ghost gets the major job in four or five
years and gives you a lot of a lot of
great moments along the way.

Right, I don't care what Gouz offers. You do not
tell him where your parents live, because he's already. He
took forever to get Jerry on the show because the
first thing, Guy says he wanted to smell him.

Well, little heck up, that was sort of taken out. Look,
I'm a kid from Central New York. I'm a salve
a guy. That was my guy, sort I have g
mac here like you get it, Brian, Like.

and getting his players in there. And I know he's
already brought in a bunch like Peter Carries six ' ten,

he played at Syracuse, he played under macnamara. He's one
of the guys could be maybe the impact player for Siena.

In two thousand and eight was talking it is the
best thing for workouts. Now, pedia lights out there like
there's just wild things they are, of course pickle juice, Like,
of course, what do you mean brain zapping doesn't work?
We we are gosh day before the election, about to
say this we as a human erase of gotten dumber.
