Speaker 1 (00:00):
Well, backing Guz on the voice of the Capitol Regions
(00:02):
Sports fan Fox Sports ninety five, nine and nine eighty.
Speaker 2 (00:07):
The third hour gets.
Speaker 3 (00:08):
Underway right now, and the g two toys the studio
toys with a Z. And it turns out that my
beautiful daughter Bells brought me a coffee. So while she's here,
I literally looked up at Guzz and I went, since
you wrote in the run Goz talks tigers.
Speaker 2 (00:27):
Is it cool if Ella helps out? Yes, high Bells
welcome my dad. This is their first time on this stage.
Speaker 4 (00:34):
Yay and recently engaged, by the way, What a celebration,
What a big moment. Yes, very cool.
Speaker 2 (00:39):
I don't I don't know. I don't. I don't know
how I feel about it. I told did he tell
you that? I asked for a dowry? Where do you
want to go? I want two goats and four chickens.
I feel like you're worth at least that four chickens
is probably a stretch. Wow, waited to meet your own value?
Speaker 3 (00:54):
Come on, and the money I put into you growing up,
I had a couple of chickens, is not I don't
want a rooster. I don't want to take off the
neighbors actually know what two chickens at a rooster.
Speaker 2 (01:03):
Well, I'll negotiate.
Speaker 4 (01:05):
It's a good business, right there. That's all it is.
It's a good business. I'm gonna start off with father
Lavak here before we moved to daughter Lavak from the minister.
Speaker 2 (01:12):
I'm not a father to take out this story.
Speaker 4 (01:15):
Alabama LS you play each other this week, although for
the first time in nearly twenty years, neither team is
ranked in the top fifteen. It's rare that we see
a matchup with these teams as low as they're ranked.
But the big news in Baton Rouge this week is that,
for the first time in a while, a live tiger
will be back on the field. For those that don't know,
LSU football uses Mike the Tiger, a live tiger on
(01:38):
the football field that the opposing team has to walk by.
Speaker 2 (01:41):
But we how long has it been since that's happened.
Speaker 4 (01:43):
I believe it's twenty twenty one, so it could check
me on that. I believe it's twenty twenty.
Speaker 2 (01:48):
That's a terrible idea.
Speaker 1 (01:50):
I feel like it was a missed opportunity to name
it Mike Tony.
Speaker 3 (01:55):
Well, there probably was one name Tony like Mike is
probably like this, like they've been. I'm sure they've been
through a few tigers, sadly to say, you know.
Speaker 4 (02:05):
Really, I'm wrong. Not twenty twenty one. I just assumed
COVID ended everything two thousand and fifteen, So ninety years
since we've seen Mike the Tiger out there.
Speaker 2 (02:14):
Most recently Bevo the mascot for Texas, who's a long, harm,
long long warm bult.
Speaker 3 (02:20):
Tried to attack Ugga the bulldog mask cover Georgia. Yes, Now,
what happens when Mike the Tiger decides that people wearing
you know, elephant costumes are tasty interesting?
Speaker 4 (02:34):
You bring that up? Whack father that this is the
report coming from w BRZ. W BRZ is reporting. This
is Piper Hutchinson on the story that Mitchell Camelson is
the owner of this tiger that's going to appear on
the field this upcoming weekend.
Speaker 2 (02:51):
If it's not Joe, I'm out well.
Speaker 4 (02:52):
He has a long history of citations for mistreating tigers.
To Roger Sherman, a blue check mark said, this good
news everyone. The guy bringing the tiger to LSU Bama
has only had two tigers escape.
Speaker 2 (03:10):
What could go wrong? I mean, what could go wrong.
Speaker 4 (03:13):
I mean, I feel like only two you know.
Speaker 2 (03:16):
Chance you're strike three being in front of one hundred thousand.
Let's go blow. I'll just throw the national champion.
Speaker 4 (03:28):
I'll throw this question out to both of you. Hearing
now the report that the person who may or may
not be handling the tiger could have had a few
slip ups or whatever, you think, it's still a good
idea that a tiger is gonna be on the field
on Saturday.
Speaker 3 (03:41):
My biggest problem with it is with the amount of
money that is brought in by l s U Football.
You can't find a person who doesn't have a bad record.
You can't find a person who hasn't abused attached to
bring you a t You can't go get your own tiger,
like you can't get Jane Goodall to bring you some
gorillas probably passed away with us. Still, I don't know
the amount of money LSU has.
Speaker 2 (04:01):
It's fine, they'll figure it out.
Speaker 3 (04:03):
Like you got to go get a budget tiger, Like
I don't feel like that's good. Like what do you
got for her tigers? Well, there's a Well, we've got Simba,
We've got this one. We got we're on a budget.
How about Mike the Tiger. How much is that deal?
Speaker 1 (04:16):
They have like a backup like bear painted like a tiger,
Like we can afford that.
Speaker 2 (04:22):
Bring out?
Speaker 4 (04:25):
Also, apologies to jan Goodall, who's still with us at
ninety years.
Speaker 3 (04:28):
So you guys killed Jane Goodall. I hope you're happy.
I hope you're at I didn't but.
Speaker 2 (04:34):
I didn't kill her. I I just you know, I
ask she is a dame.
Speaker 4 (04:39):
By the way, I don't know if you knew that. Yeah,
that's a big deal. A second question, Bell's not go
with you on this question. Imagine you are playing a sport.
You're playing for the Alabama Crimson Tide. You're walking out
to Death Valley they call it Tiger Stadium. Uh, and
you see a tiger. Is that actually intimidating? Is that
actually strikes some fear in you that there's a potential
tiger on those before you play a sport?
Speaker 2 (05:01):
Well, first of all, you lost me at I'm playing
for Alabama. Whoever pays If they're like saying Mike the
Tiger and would be like, no, we got this in
the bag. I'm about Mike. I mean, still, he's still
gonna eat us.
Speaker 5 (05:19):
What if?
Speaker 2 (05:19):
All right, so I think the only way this wall right?
Speaker 3 (05:22):
What's war frightening bells? Is it Mike the Tiger or
the Delaware pea wall. I don't know that there's a
wall of Delaware University where they like it's like non animals. No,
it's like where they tell the opposing team they.
Speaker 2 (05:34):
Have to go pee. Listen.
Speaker 4 (05:35):
I'm in nursing school.
Speaker 2 (05:36):
I know how things spread. Pea walls terrifying.
Speaker 3 (05:42):
That should be their mascots of the Blue Hens. It
should be the Delaware pea walls. That should be it
that defense, standing tough like a pea wall.
Speaker 4 (05:51):
Mister Levac has smelled for What do you think if
you played for Bama would you be intimidated by a tiger?
Speaker 2 (05:56):
I don't think you should have live mascots at games anymore.
Oh wow, yeah.
Speaker 4 (06:01):
You've changed.
Speaker 2 (06:02):
I have.
Speaker 3 (06:02):
I have as someone who had like arena football team,
I can afford Spike the mascot, and he does a
great job, and he'll be there at Cook Park tomorrow
at ten am. I wouldn't go get an actual bird
and like, go all right, it's a firebird. No, I
wouldn't do it. I'm sorry, it's a bad it's a mistake.
And the only way this is alright with me is
if every single team has their mascot there from here
(06:24):
on out. So the Michigan there's an actual wolverine. Whether
it be whether it be Hugh Jackman or the animal,
I don't care. You know, what were you guys the Statesman?
We're the Statesman. So just some preppy guy with a pole.
Speaker 2 (06:35):
Whole lot says, yeah, I just want to him. The
garnet chargers over at Union is just a giant phone
charger sits there on the field.
Speaker 4 (06:43):
My high school was the Bearcats, and they had the
bear cat in the glass, so like the trophy room
before that, there was just like this old taxidermys bear
cats sitting there. Didn't look intimidating.
Speaker 2 (06:54):
Any kind of cat in your high school neighborhood should
be nervous.
Speaker 4 (06:57):
That's then on Google solve that is I will go
back to this. I'm anti your take there about eliminating
all live animals sporting events, because I'm in the spot
right now with my kids that the mascot is the thing.
Like if you go to any type of event, Spike
or what.
Speaker 3 (07:14):
So you mean to tell me, Mike the tiger would
be cooler than Spike. I guarantee you that if I
brought Spike around your seventy five kids and then a tiger,
which would then mean you only had eight kids left,
they would they would prefer Spike.
Speaker 4 (07:28):
I maybe maybe one of them would. I've gone to farms,
I've gone to places of real animals. They react better
to those. Here's the thing you mentioned, Beevo the longhorn. Yeah,
my oldest Rex thinks that's the coolest thing in any sport.
If anything, he can't. He can't get over the fact
that that thing is running around now. Ralphie the Buffalo,
(07:50):
I don't know. Did you go to that game?
Speaker 2 (07:52):
You to?
Speaker 4 (07:52):
You went to Denver? You didn't go to Boulder, right.
Speaker 2 (07:55):
I didn't go to Bowler No, I went to Broncos Bells.
Speaker 4 (07:57):
For those who don't know, and for you listening, there's
a school called Colorado and they have a big game
this weekend. Actually that when they run onto the field,
they are let onto the field by an actual.
Speaker 2 (08:06):
N actual buffalo runs wild like run.
Speaker 3 (08:09):
They run it out and it listens to them for
the most part, but it doesn't always.
Speaker 4 (08:13):
Would that gets you excited? Would that be like whoa Okay,
this is pretty cool. I'm following a buffalo into battle. No,
there's two there's two things that can go horribly wrong there.
Speaker 3 (08:25):
Yeah, A he turns around or b he drops a
duke and now you're gonna run through a giant buffalo duke.
Like that's real. Animal animals aren't Like you can't convince
an animal not to go poop. Like it's not like,
don't do it here, don't do it. No, I gotta go.
I'm going.
Speaker 2 (08:44):
My dog will go anywhere. Yeah, we could be let
out into the field by whiskey. That's it. That'll work.
Speaker 3 (08:50):
But like you know, I I guess it depends on
the on the animal mascot, because I do what is it?
Speaker 2 (08:56):
Is it blue? Is that the name of the Saints mascot? Now? Yes,
the live Saint Bernard?
Speaker 3 (09:00):
And then I used to like when Gatusa would bring
his actual great Danes out on the field.
Speaker 2 (09:04):
But like I don't, I just I feel like I
feel like if you told me.
Speaker 3 (09:10):
The tiger was like on loan from an animal sanctuary
and was well cared for and there's never been a mishap,
I'm gonna be like, you know what, Mike the Tiger
rock and roll. They'll have some fun, that'll.
Speaker 2 (09:19):
Be giry great.
Speaker 3 (09:21):
But the fact that has brought to me thank you,
that's a joke. The fact that we're bringing out this
like this guy he's only lost two tigers and they're like,
we deplaud him, but he only has one hand.
Speaker 2 (09:37):
Like what, No, I'm not I'm not okay. I don't
think I'm okay with it?
Speaker 4 (09:40):
Has everything changed in the world of mascots in live animals?
Has the world changed in sports, especially in college football
since what happened at the original Pop Tarts Bowl? Because
right now Syracuse Football, who airs this week we mentioned
in the top four for Syracuse Football is back?
Speaker 2 (09:55):
Is the weirdest vishal ever. Wait are you trying to
eat Mike the Tiger?
Speaker 6 (09:59):
For?
Speaker 2 (10:00):
Are you trying to eat the mascots?
Speaker 4 (10:02):
Again? For the do you know why you want to
go to the cat ones best for you? For those
who don't know that reference. For those who didn't follow
Pop Tart's Bowl action where Syracuse is projected to play
in Orlando.
Speaker 2 (10:12):
This upcod We're going, I'm saving my travel.
Speaker 4 (10:16):
There was a pop Tart representing the Pop Tarts bull
taking pictures doing everything, but they promoted. It is that
at the end of the game, this mascot would be
eaten by the players, and they never broke character.
Speaker 3 (10:27):
So the pop tarts doing pictures run around games comes
to an end, final whistle. Whatever the pop chart is
now on top of what appears to be a giant toaster,
goes crazy and then is lowered into the toaster, and
then a giant pop tart the size of like a
normal dining room table comes out, fully cooked from the bottom,
(10:48):
and the players and coaches begin to ravenously grab handfuls
of this pop tart that we've watched run around the
field for two to three hours greeting children, and eat
him in front of the crowd. My problem is, why
do I have to pick between Mike the Tiger and
loose cannibalism?
Speaker 2 (11:07):
Why are those my eyes? I mean pop tarts, not cannibalism.
I mean, that's why I said loose. All right.
Speaker 3 (11:15):
There, Well there, you have to remember where Goz is from.
Speaker 4 (11:19):
Mike the Tiger is dinner. I was gonna say that
pop tarts bowl. There are some religions that actually sound
very close to what I means. Anyway, Gem of the
of the Sacrifice, never mind and not on a Friday show.
Speaker 3 (11:34):
But yes, I want to go to the pop Tart
Bowl though, I really do. I I want to go
to that sob Orlando.
Speaker 4 (11:39):
That's what they're doing now. The look, that's where the
old Citrus Bowl, this is what I'll call it is
where the Camping World Bowl was. Gotta be a little
careful around that area, Orlando. I saw the can that
is not Disney World where that bowl is.
Speaker 2 (11:51):
That is not.
Speaker 4 (11:53):
A little rough, a little rough over there on that
part of Orlando.
Speaker 2 (11:56):
Place to be a pop tart?
Speaker 4 (11:57):
Can you imagine the pop tart on the streets of
Orlando before he got to the game.
Speaker 3 (12:01):
Just eat me, buddy, just the stream of just home
free people. M Bob Dards, spa spare a sprinkle, buddy,
Is that what you're saying? Yes, all right, that's exactly
what I was gonna like everyone else brought with me
that way. I'm the one this one, all right? Sons
and I both geting called in the Rob's office.
Speaker 4 (12:22):
On Monday, Team Levac has decided Mike the Tiger should
have been called Tony the Tiger, not as intimidating. We
should check up.
Speaker 3 (12:31):
I'm worried about his well being. I've seen Tiger King,
I know how this goes. Like that's the thing is,
like I would, there's certain things that don't belong in
our world, and if you're going to bring them into them,
don't bring them into someone who's like as Belle said,
well he hasn't had strike three yet, Like that's not
there's a certain amount of that.
Speaker 4 (12:50):
Like wait a second, Levac, you've just dawned on something
for me here. You just made me think of something.
We have a new president sort of president elect right
in January twenty twenty five, and there was a time
there that after Joe Exotic was sent to prison, sent
to jail, that we thought President Trump could potentially pardon.
Speaker 2 (13:09):
Well, we didn't think that.
Speaker 3 (13:10):
You hoped for it, and he and and Tiger King
Wat's his nut face was begging for it.
Speaker 4 (13:16):
But just imagine right.
Speaker 7 (13:18):
Oh, that's Joe Exonic chosen President Trump is wait a
seconds back, second time, that's Joe Exonic.
Speaker 2 (13:31):
And he rides on the back of that back guy
jet Ski.
Speaker 3 (13:37):
I got tigers for everybody, section two oh four, what
seven to three twelve, there's tigers a file of well
for betting for the three sent and tigers have eaten
people in sections one O four or two, O seven
and three cent.
Speaker 2 (13:50):
Do you feel like Gosne needs to lose? But two
times too many?
Speaker 3 (13:57):
The first The first time was completely like when you
if you had seen the Voice of the Capitol Region,
Jim Gagli already walk across the parking lot with his
mask on.
Speaker 2 (14:06):
He left, by the way, he's gone.
Speaker 4 (14:07):
Now, yeah, it was a great moment.
Speaker 3 (14:10):
Those just didn't Gagiardi three sixteen says, I just learned
your bud.
Speaker 4 (14:16):
By the way, Tony Kahan probably loves all those wrestling
references schedules should join us in about five minutes.
Speaker 2 (14:21):
But I'm sorry, listen hear those parts. I'm just saying.
Speaker 3 (14:24):
I'm just saying, Seat Khan's kid, Tony Khan runs a
wrestling organization and all this other stuff.
Speaker 2 (14:29):
You're a nurse, I mean, come on, come on, step
it up. I want to be taken care of that.
You he didn't bring his dad coffee, you know what?
Speaker 3 (14:36):
Take that shot? Haha? Oh man, all right, let's talk
about elevation ten thousand.
Speaker 4 (14:44):
About marketing brand new, look at that. I knew the
music for that. I knew about Joe Exotic, I knew
about promoting this was a lot of marketing. Elevation ten thousand.
Probably wants nothing to do with any of the people
we just mentioned, but Dave would help.
Speaker 2 (14:55):
All of them.
Speaker 3 (14:56):
Dave would mclet would be in to help all of them.
He would go to LS you and be like, all right,
here's the here's here's how we elevate this idea. Let's
not just have some random dude bring a tiger named Mike.
Let's go get an actual, like like a trained movie tiger.
Let's get whoever played Shot Cohn in the in the
The Lion King live action or whatever, or the Jungle
(15:17):
Book live action. Let's go get it. What's the one's name?
But here's the panther. Sh they're the same. That's yeah,
Jumble Book. That's fine, they're all the same live action.
Speaker 2 (15:32):
Get him?
Speaker 3 (15:32):
And now it's now we've elevated the brats. Yess why
I need the help of Dave mcclett. Elevation ten thousand.
I don't know the difference between a billionaire family that
owns football and wrestling and an animated and then not
amated talk.
Speaker 4 (15:43):
We mentioned Blue too, Blue from Santa Balloo in the
movie All comes together.
Speaker 2 (15:47):
Little burnol so a little simple burn mil Murray version
the voice, Yeah it was. He was the voice of
the last one. That's true. You didn't know that, Oh
who don't know?
Speaker 5 (15:58):
Son?
Speaker 4 (15:58):
Now Son didn't her student didn't market it enough because
you didn't know the elevation ten thousand gonna help that
movie as well.
Speaker 2 (16:06):
Striud t all kidding aside.
Speaker 3 (16:08):
When you're getting your business set up, or you're or
you're trying to get to that next level, you need
to have a play. You gotta have a strategy, whether
it be you know, is your website inviting enough that
people are gonna go to it, stay on it and
do what you need them to do as far as
booking you or whatever else. Is your targeted advertising targeted
the right people. Elevation ten thousand Answer all those questions,

Elevate your brand today with elevation ten thousand. If he
has not been listening and is still calling in, Tony
Kahan of ae W joins us Next Levet Guys, Fox
Sports Radio ninety five, nine to nine eighty.
Speaker 1 (16:46):
It's Levak and Guys. On ninety five to nine Fox
Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (16:51):
We are on going to be.
Speaker 3 (16:51):
Joined by the head hon show, The Big Boss over
at ae W as they get ready to come to
town on November fourteenth at the MVP Arena, Tony Khanjo Tony.
Speaker 2 (17:01):
Last time we talked to you was Radio Row.
Speaker 3 (17:03):
I asked you if you would ever get in the ring,
and it became national news that you said no.
Speaker 2 (17:09):
I'm sorry.
Speaker 6 (17:13):
Well, it was great to see you at Radio Row
and thanks for having me on today. I'm really excited
about this Thursday, all right.
Speaker 3 (17:19):
So since then, I mean a lot of people have
talked a lot of smack. Have you considered, you know,
a quick regiment in the gym and slapping somebody around
inside the ropes?
Speaker 6 (17:28):
I still don't think that's in the cards, but a
lot of the best wrestlers in the world right now
happening in aw and I think the best wrestling and
where the best wrestle is our tagline, and I want
to keep it that way and keep myself out of
the ring.
Speaker 2 (17:47):
We've had two different moments.
Speaker 4 (17:48):
Yes, we've had two different members of your roster join
us over the past week. Mercedes Money and Darbiella talk
about two different people. We'll start with Mercedes mone first.
Super talented, she's a big fan of herself. She almost
scares me at times, Tony. She loves her some money.
But what an awesome edition of the roster that the
Mercedes mone has been in twenty twenty four.
Speaker 6 (18:07):
Yes, Mercedes Moone, the TBS Champion has been fantastic. It's
great to have the CEO in AGW. She's quickly risen
to the top of the ranks. She's the TBS Champion
and it's great to have her in aw and definitely
one of the biggest free agent signings and definitely also
(18:30):
one of the top international stars. She's a great wrestler
in aew but she's also shown she's willing to go
all over the world. She's won championships all over the planet.
And absolutely Mercedes Monet is a big fan of herself.
Speaker 2 (18:46):
Tony con with us right now in Fox Sports Radio
ninety five, nine nine eighty.
Speaker 3 (18:50):
Like, as a businessman and everything, it's got to amaze
you when another company is either short sighted or darisa
stupid enough to let talent like that leave their building.
When you woke up that morning, you're like, I just
want a lottery, Like, how did that feel?
Speaker 6 (19:06):
I was so excited when Mercedes first became a free agent.
She actually came over a lot earlier, you know, before
she ever debuted as an adw wrestler, she visited US.
She joined us at Wembley Stadium in London, and it
was last year where we sent the world record over
eighty thousand tickets sold at Wembley Stadium, still the most
(19:27):
tickets anyone's ever sold to any wrestling show ever. Mercedes
joined US as a visitor. She clearly was planning to
come into AW. She wanted to see it firsthand. She
sat in the Royal Box and took in all the action,
and then she got injured. She was competing for New
Japan Pro Wrestling. That injury sidelined her for several months.
(19:51):
When she finally got one hundred percent. When Mercedes Monette
got cleared, I was so excited to have her in
AW And like I said, he's quickly risen to the
top of the ranks here.
Speaker 4 (20:02):
Mercedes is fantastic. Darby Allen fantastic as well. And during
our conversation, I think something Levak and I learned is
that Darby Allen's an onion like you keep peeling this
guy back. He's got more stories, he's got a personality,
he's got a background. This guy and I know he's
been a part of the AW for years now that
it feels like fans and viewers we learn something new
about this guy every week and we keep turning. He
(20:24):
is one of the most interesting and exciting wrestlers on
your roster.
Speaker 6 (20:28):
Darby Allen definitely one of the most exciting and interesting wrestlers.
He is a fascinating person. The man has no fear.
He wants to do always the most dangerous, the most
crazy stunt. He's one of the greatest pro wrestlers when
it comes to high flying acrobatics and taking the biggest
(20:50):
risks in pro wrestling. Darby Allen wrestles with reckless abandon.
He's a great, great wrestler and somebody that you're in
AAW were so so proud to have as one of
our own. And when we say AW is where the
best wrestle, people like Darby Allen, I think that's what
that catchphrase is all about. He's one of a kind.
Speaker 3 (21:12):
So obviously, you know with the jags, you know about
like the NFL has contract stipulations, where like certain player,
you can't drive a motorcycle, you can't do these risky things.
Did you ever think of putting something in Darby's contract, like, hey,
don't climb Mount Everest that's funny.
Speaker 6 (21:27):
Well, no, no, I haven't, because I think that's one
of the things that makes Darby so unique and special.
He is always at the forefront, He's always at the
cutting edge. He wants to try new things, and it's
that risk taking, it's that energy. These things make him
(21:47):
so unique and I think also very appealing to the
wrestling fans, and I like to tap into that he
takes big risks, but really it's the risks he takes
in the ring as a wrestler that are even more
dangerous than when he climbs Mount Everest or does some
of the craziest motorcycle stunts you'll ever see. This guy
(22:09):
is just an absolute wizard in the ring, and Darby
Allen is definitely one of the great wrestlers and also
one of the great risk takers in the world.
Speaker 3 (22:20):
Right now, I have an idea for a business plan.
We were talking to Darby and I said, you know,
how are you How are you not always hurt? And
he talked about recovery. I said, forget TB twelve, like,
let's get a business of Darby Allen recovery going. I
think if you market that, Tony, you might have your
next billion dollar industry.
Speaker 6 (22:37):
He is really at the forefront of that. He's a
renaissance man, a thinker, and that active recovery and doing
everything you can to preserve your body. That's Darby Allen.
He's really very, very intelligent when it comes to recovery.
And that's a great point. I'm glad you talked to
him about that. You know, in sports across the board,
(23:01):
these days, we're seeing the top athletes able to preserve
their bodies and last longer. It's more common to see
an elite athlete compete at the top level a little
later into their career today versus several years ago. And
recovery is a huge reason for that. And Darby Allen
(23:21):
is a great young wrestler, and a lot of people
have predicted the way he wrestles, the dangerous style Darby
Allen does that he's not going to be able to
do this day in, day out, weekend, week out for
the rest of his career. Well, I do think he's
going to be able to hold up. I do think
Darby Allen will continue to have a long and fruitful
(23:42):
pro wrestling career despite all the big risks he takes, because,
like you said, he's at the forefront of recovery.
Speaker 4 (23:50):
He is the boss of AEW. Tony Khan joins us
here on the Elevation ten thousand phone lines elevates your
brand today with Elevation ten thousand AEW back inside MVP
Arena on Novamber fourteenth, Tony, I need your help here
because November fourteenth is a big day for me. I
was there back in July of twenty three at MVP
Arena when you guys been there, A show was awesome.
Capitol Region Sports fans, Albany fans loved it. But the
(24:13):
fourteenth is interesting for me because my wife is due.
That is the due day for our third son. On
the fourteenth, Levac has asked us if we should go
to the show. In the history of all Elite wrestling,
has anybody gone into labor? Have we had an AEW
baby at.
Speaker 3 (24:28):
AAW delivery instead of collision? I just put it out there.
Speaker 4 (24:32):
What do we think, Tony? Should I bring my wife
to AAW on collision to make some history.
Speaker 6 (24:38):
I'm open to it. I think we could really do
something different that has not been done in aw's history.
There's been a lot of crazy events, a lot of
crazy episodes of AW television. I would love for that
to happen. So I would definitely invite you and your
wife this Thursday. Please, this Thursday, November fourteenth, at the
(25:00):
MVP Arena, join us for AW Pro Wrestling. You'll be
able to make history and maybe then we can watch
it all back on TNT.
Speaker 4 (25:09):
Yes, that's what I ask. A doctor, but just a dentist.
Speaker 3 (25:13):
But gos is a former collegiate football player. His wife
is a D one collegiate volleyball player. You might want
to sign this kid right then to a futures contract, Tony.
Speaker 6 (25:24):
We could get in front. That would be the youngest
we've ever gone out and signed a pro wrestler. Talk
about being you know, innovative and planning ahead.
Speaker 4 (25:34):
I know you're an analytics guy. You know the numbers
that all adds.
Speaker 3 (25:37):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (25:38):
We'll talk about that later. I gotta get permission from
her first. I got Tony's permission before her permission, so
I'll go back and check on that. We're looking forward
to the fourteenth. Tony, we know you're super busy. Thank
you so much for the time man. It is so
great catching up. We said this before you signed on.
You are our favorite guest at Radio Row. The fact
we get you back on to promote this show has
been awesome for us, so thank you.
Speaker 5 (25:56):
Well.
Speaker 6 (25:56):
I really appreciate that. I love visiting you guys in
person Radio Row at the super Bowl. Thanks for having
me on today. I'm excited to see you guys. Is
less than a week away. Aw coming to Albany this Thursday,
November fourteenth. We're bringing the top wrestlers. We're bringing the
best action. You've got to see this show aew is
(26:18):
where the best wrestle and if you haven't seen it before,
check out the high Flying Action on TBS and tn
T every week and come see us this Thursday. It's
going to be so special and I'm excited to bring
the best action to Albany.
Speaker 3 (26:33):
Thank you for making time man again. Like guys that
we know you're super busy and you know bestl Lucky you.
We'll look forward to see you on Thursday.
Speaker 6 (26:39):
Yeah, see Thursday. I'm excited to see you guys again.
Thanks for having me on today.
Speaker 3 (26:43):
November fourteenth, MVP Arena is Aw's I tell you, it's
it's rare that the owner of the company wins me
over even more than the product itself. Like it like
I AW is right there in the ring with WWE
like the stories WW are really really good. Like you
see that my cousin Paulovac is doing a good job
(27:05):
over there.
Speaker 2 (27:06):
But Tony Kahn is just such a like.
Speaker 3 (27:09):
And I think the difference between this time talking to
him and we talked about Radio Row, I felt like
Radio Row was a little like almost began as forced
and he became cool with us, like he was just
cool from the rep. He was just like, Hey, you
guys want to talk, Let's go, let's hang out. I
enjoy his conversation.
Speaker 4 (27:24):
There's something about when you get in a competitive environment,
whether it's professional wrestling, whether it's sales, whether it's sports,
where sometimes people feel like they have to always be
on the defensive. Some people are learning about the product
for the first time, so it's like, oh, do I
have to deal with my competition questions? Do I have
to deal with this? And all of a sudden's like, oh,
these guys just want to have fun. Tony Khan's life
that he lives. I said this in February. I'll say
(27:44):
it again now. The life he lives, he gets to
do somebody he's passionate about. Every single day. He gets
to be creative. He gets to work in football. Yes,
his dad's made billions, but he's talked about his upbringing
that he wasn't raised like that. The money came later
in his life. Shout out to our guy, Tony. It's
gonna be an awesome event, I said. I was there
in July twenty three. If you are a pro wrestling fan,
(28:05):
this is the type of show you want to go
because everybody's so into the show. They're so into the action.
It's in the ring, it's entertaining all Lee wrestling man
for the day A launch until now. We're so happy
to support these guys absolutely.
Speaker 3 (28:15):

Speaker 2 (29:29):
You know this, this area is amazing.
Speaker 3 (29:32):
We rally together whenever, whenever it needed, and you know,
one of the guys. Who's helping that that exact thing
happen right now is the assistant chief over at the
Colony Fire Department, Chris van Buskirk. Chris, first of all,
thanks for making time. I know you guys are super busy.
I love the way I love I love your your
house over there. You guys got a great shop. I
(29:53):
see yourself in the jeep. You know, can I get
it cheap?
Speaker 5 (29:55):
I mean, I'll put a good word in free. Absolutely?
Speaker 3 (30:00):
All right?
Speaker 2 (30:01):
Well, Chris, what all right?
Speaker 3 (30:02):
They're they're a very tragic happening took place in the
Capitol region. You guys are getting together with Stanford Heights
Fire Department. It's called the south Side Scramble. Tell us,
tell us what we're doing and why we're doing it.
Speaker 5 (30:18):
So the South Side Scramble, I'll give you a little
history of it. The South Side of the Colony Town
of Colony has always been together as a fire company,
and throughout the years we've always done a football game
between one of the departments. We've always called it the
South Side Scramble, and it was always the raise toys
for Toys for Tots events. This game was what scheduled
(30:39):
a few weeks back with Stanford Heights. We were we
were set to do it for the Toys for TATSA
event again and as you said, that tragic event on
Saturday November two. We were all listening to what was
going on with the accident on the north Way and
after that accident I got together with my fire Captain
(31:01):
Keith Fogg, who actually came up with the idea in
the beginning. He said, why don't we take all the
toys that were collecting and give it to mister Dempsey
who was a tow truck operator. He was severely injured
as well. He's gonna be out of work for a
while and he's got four kids, one of them just
a month old. And we thought it was a great idea.
(31:22):
We're gonna take We're gonna take the toys, whatever we
raise up, give it to the family for a great Christmas.
I contacted the chiefs and who was in charge from
Stanford Heights Fire Department. They were all in. We were
all excited to do this. We never expected to get
this much of a support and Uh, as you said,
we support each other in the Capital District here and
(31:43):
especially in the town of Colony, and the way people
have really rallied together for this event. It's become huge.
We've had people contact us that want to help. We
contacted mister dempsey significant other Marissa and formed her what
we wanted to do to try to get the ages
of the kids and you know what they needed. So
(32:04):
we buy a you know, age appropriate gifts and she
was overwhelmed. She was very thankful and we got those
the ages out to the people in the department, and
now other fire departments are joining in, other organizations are
joining in that really want to help, and this has
become a really huge event and a testament of how
we all come together as a community to help each
(32:25):
other out. We're also trying to get funds together for
Trooper Avendola. We know he's gonna have a very long recovery.
He's still in already med his families up here. They're
being put up in a hotel so they're close by
to him through his recovery. So we're also doing a
fund drive that day, a boot drive if you will,
(32:47):
for whoever shows up to watch this event, and all
the funds we collect will go towards his recovery, whether
it's the family's needs for housing, food, any medical bills,
whatever we can help with. So we're trying to really
get this event to kick off to give them the
most help that we can.
Speaker 2 (33:07):
I love it. We had Chris van buskerg with us
right now.
Speaker 3 (33:11):
We're talking about the South Side Scramble, which will be
going on Saturday over at Cook Park. Starts at ten am.
Colony Village Fire Department versus Stanford Heights Firefires. You guys
are a brotherhood like and nobody does what you guys do,
like nobody runs into fires.
Speaker 2 (33:28):
You know, you guys are a little bit crazy, but
a lot of bit heroes.
Speaker 3 (33:32):
So the fact that you guys are able to do
this is like, I would support anything you're doing, but
to be able to do this for our community this time,
this is close to the holidays, we appreciate it, but
I do have to ask one really hard question.
Speaker 2 (33:44):
What's that you guys any good?
Speaker 3 (33:46):
Like?
Speaker 2 (33:46):
This is gonna be a good game?
Speaker 5 (33:49):
Well, I'll tell you, Especially in the village of Colony,
we have been very blessed this year. We've acquired a
lot of new kids who just joined it a part man.
We do an event at the high school every year,
recruiting event, and the last two years have been excellent
for us. We recruited ten kids over the last two
(34:09):
years that have fully put in and want to be firefighters.
So I got a bunch of young blood coming in
on Saturday that I'm very thankful for because us old
guys don't want to run around that much, so we're
just gonna give them the ball and let them run.
So it should be a great event.
Speaker 4 (34:24):
That was the best we'll see that. That felt like
a real coach right there telling us we're gonna find
out how the action. Well done, coach. That's what I'll say.
Speaker 3 (34:32):
To that answer is Stanford Heights cut Because, like so Peels,
my father was an honorary member the safor Rights Fire
Department way back in the day. We were too far
away to respond to the to the siren, but he
was a big part of helping out back in the day.
Speaker 2 (34:48):
So so I remember those guys.
Speaker 3 (34:51):
I mean, they could tackle a keg back in the day,
but I don't know if they could tackle a ball.
Speaker 2 (34:54):
Care.
Speaker 5 (34:56):
They got some good guys out there. I'll tell you,
they really stepped up their game. The last time we
played with them, they did beat us, So it should
be a pretty interesting game.
Speaker 4 (35:05):
I love it man for those listening across the Capital
region in upstate New York, they're hearing about this, maybe
for the first time. How can they help if they
can't go to the game, but they're hearing about this,
what's the best way to reach out and help?
Speaker 5 (35:15):
So the best way if you can't get to the game,
If you want to donate, if you want to bring
toys by our firehouse, what we're gonna do is we're
going to collect everything for the week after the game,
so up to the following Friday. If you want to
drop it off to Colony Village Firehouse on Central ab
Stanford Heights, Firehouse on Central Ab down by the City
(35:37):
of Schenectady line, or you can mail them into any
of those two firehouses and we'll make sure that those
funds are all collected, All the toys are collected, and
we're going to get them to the appropriate families.
Speaker 2 (35:48):
I love it.
Speaker 3 (35:49):
Chris van Buskirk with us right now, Assistant chief over
at Colony Village Fire Department, Chris Man, thank you for
doing this, Thanks for letting us be a part of it.
I'm gonna be there. I'm gonna try and drag guys.
Maybe maybe we can, you know, get guys to relive
his glory days. Get out there and block somebody.
Speaker 5 (36:04):
Hey, I'm down. You can be right on our online
how any day.
Speaker 2 (36:07):
Look at that.
Speaker 4 (36:07):
That's gonna take a talent fee from me, Chris, I
don't know what's happening to your phone. It seems like
we're breaking up. Thank you for your.
Speaker 2 (36:15):
Time, for the cars. Gome on guys.
Speaker 4 (36:18):
Thank you, Chris.
Speaker 2 (36:18):
Best of luck man, Chris Man, Thank you so much.
We will see you Saturday.
Speaker 5 (36:23):
Excellent, see you guys, and thank you so much for
doing this. We appreciate you getting us on and allowing
us to explain what we're doing and making this a
great event for those two families.
Speaker 2 (36:33):
Oh he you know what, I bet you.
Speaker 3 (36:34):
Hey, a week after this, guys, they do a thing
called the Turkey Raffle where you sit down, eat, drink,
and and try to win turkeys and bottles of booze
and stuff.
Speaker 2 (36:43):
I'm in for that. I'm in for that time for
that one.
Speaker 5 (36:49):
That is definitely more our athletic skill right there. We're
gonna have a great night that night. You're all invited
to come hang out with us.
Speaker 4 (36:55):
Absolutely, thanks Chris, catch you later, man. I appreciate the time.
Speaker 5 (37:00):
Thank you, gentlemen. I have a great day.
Speaker 3 (37:02):
There, he goes, uh man, this is gonna be this
is gonna be a great time, like like, I don't.
Speaker 2 (37:07):
Know, have you.
Speaker 3 (37:09):
Growing up, the fire department was a huge part of
my life, like even though again we were outside where
you could do it, but my dad was so tight
with the community. And like his best friend was was
Gary Boomhauer. I know Boom are still around in the area,
and I know his kids are too, so like we were,
we were part of the Stanford Heights Fire Department, and
these guys, it has to because the seriousness of what
(37:30):
they do, you know, like you run into a burning
building and you try to bring people out and when
they when they cut loose, they cut all the way loose,
like it's fun.
Speaker 4 (37:39):
I remember as a kid that the firehouse in Lakeland,
New York. I could ride my bicycle down there, not
walking distance, but enough for like a seven or eight
year old to get there, right next to the Little
League field. And I remember gosh, I was a boy
scout and they took us on a tour of the
fire department in the firehouse and I was just like
whoa like this is stuff you've seen books on TV shows.
(38:03):
This exists in my neighborhood. Maybe they did this for
the kids, but it's had an impact on me. Twenty
five thirty years later. You know, the actual fire truck
left the firehouse. Yah, whoa da Dad, I thought a
real fire was happening. Now maybe it was. It didn't matter.
It convinced to me. Is I remember that nearly thirty
(38:24):
years later. So yeah, the impact for what these guys
are doing here locally INVEC, in your hometown with the
family connection to this. We hope that you're listening to it,
whether you're from colony or not, to go out and
support this unbelievable cause that they're after this weekend and
things changed and they pivoted with this. It's I'm so
glad we were able to grab Chris for that time.
Speaker 3 (38:41):
Today, Cook Park Saturday morning, ten am. Make sure you're there,
come on by even just drop by, throw some money
in one of the boots, or drop off a toy,
whatever it is, stop on by.
Speaker 4 (38:51):
And just for our radio audience. If you missed out
ay of that conversation, head to our podcast side more
informations on there as well.
Speaker 3 (38:56):
