Speaker 1 (00:00):
Brought to you by the US Department of Healthing Human Services, WOFX, Troy,

(00:04):
WGYFMHD two Alban W two forty c Olbaning Fox Sports
nine eighty ninety five point nine. Fact it's time for
the Top four four with Levac and Guz four and
it'said Top Ford four brought to you by Mohawk Connor

(00:24):
where they always gone on their way to please you,
roding solo Today Levac is in Chicago. Just got a
text from Levak said he's boarding the plane back to
the Capital region. You heard his voice yesterday and on
Monday show. We appreciated him taking some time for us
for the AF one meetings. We will have a fuller
recap tomorrow. If you're an Ombney Firebird fan, what the
league can expect, what you can find out. It's a

(00:45):
little inside tell all the outlets. Tomorrow we're gonna talk
a lot about that, talk a lot about the Giants,
Cowboys more. That's all tomorrow though. On the Thursday edition,
this is Wednesday, We're giving you the four biggest stories
in the world of sports for Capital Readings and sports
fans on this Wednesday, September twenty fifth, twenty twenty four.
Let's start with story number four and a classic move

(01:07):
by me. A story will dive deeper to in the
hours coming up, and that is you and LV quarterback
Matthew Sluca, who left the program this week, the undefeated
almost nationally ranked I would have them in my top
twenty five. You and LV yesterday done gost to social
media says I'm no longer going to be a part

(01:28):
of the program. A long social media post. If you
don't know why the starting quarterback for undefeated, almost nationally
ranked team would just leave the program in September, have
that friendly reminder that now, in the world of college
athletics in twenty twenty four, if you play less than
four games, that's a red shirt. The old red shirt
rule used to be if you ever go on the field,

(01:50):
your red shirt is burnt. Can't do it anymore. You
still do medical red shirts and COVID red shirts. The
red shirt rule might be understood better now than we
get out of these code. The athletes who played in
twenty twenty they got an extra year. But in football,
if you played less than four and I believe it's
twenty per set. In other sports, they didn't come back
but he's decided to keep his year of eligibility leave

(02:12):
the program. Now why is he doing that? Well, more
reports throughout the entire day of service about why he's
decided to do that. According to a report from Pete
Hamill and Adam Rittenberg at the Four Letter Network, his agent,
Marcus Cramarti, has told them that the un lv running
program had a verbal offer. That's Luca was offered one

(02:32):
hundred thousand dollars to join the program. Well, the money
never came, according to the coach, Barry Odom, he never
offered them. That it came from his offensive coordinator, the
inventor of the go go offense, Brendan Marion, who's declined
the compact, can declined comment on that. So, whether it's

(02:54):
un lvi's collective which did pay him, whether it was
the school, whatever, in according to this source, one hundred
thousand dollars was not paid in his direction. Now this
isn't the first time we heard a story like this.
I believe this also involved a quarterback for Florida. Didn't
we see the Florida quarterback that was offered like three
million dollars and then he didn't come. And then Niyell

(03:17):
deal was broken. See I asked that question because I
forgot who what his name was, Jayden Reshada? That was
his name. When I think about Florida quarbacks like this,
he's still there because they probably need him. Where is he?
What happens? So he plays at Georgia now, so now
he's sitting behind Carson back. Jaden Reshada is at Georgia.

(03:39):
So he had issues to how it went down with Florida.
What does this mean? What does it mean for college football?
Does it mean for college athletics? We'll dive deeper into
that later in the show. I got a lot to
say about that. I'll just offer up this little teaser,
this little tease for later in the show. Before we
start throwing arrows at Matthew Sluker, the quarterback now formerly
of you, and before you decide you've got your mind

(04:02):
made up, put yourself in his scenario. Try for a
second to lay out the scenario that's been offered in
his life. And what would you do or you make
your take on that. We'll get to that in an hour.
Number three coming up. Let's move on to story number
three here in the top four for Major League Baseball,
Sleader games not involving the New York teams game in

(04:24):
action right now. The Seattle Mariners up on the Houston
ASTROSTREETO on what a story by the way the Houston
Astros have been in twenty twenty four. Oh, I remember,
not too long ago, in a galaxy far far away,
then I declared the Houston Astros dead, and then I
said they were alive, and then I said they were dead,
and then they're back alive. That was about a three
week stretch there in May where I was ready to

(04:44):
claim Houston was done because they were ten games back.
Houston was double digits out of it early in the season.
All great dynasties come to an of professional sports, and
Houston did it like nobody else really have done it
in recent times, where it we're gonna blow this thing up.
We're gonna call it astro ball. We're gonna have the
worst record for a long time. We're gonna be better

(05:05):
at getting prospects than anybody else in it, also hitting
trash cans. But we're gonna rebuild, and then eventually we're
gonna let Carlos Kreya leave. We're gonna let George Springer leave,
Harry Cole leave. All the guys who got Justin Verlander,
all the guys who got us over the top are
gonna go, and we're gonna keep the five foot six
allegedly jose L two Vaan, he'll be the difference. Well,

(05:28):
Houston's down three to one, they're going to the postseason.
They're gonna win the Al West, and Seattle just too little,
too late for that squad. Other games have known tonight
include the Guardians taking on the Rents at six forty
the second time in a row. We're giving the Guardian
game love because if you're a New York Yankee fan,
you know the Guardians are right there. Mathematically, I think
potentially the entire thing could go through Cleveland if the

(05:49):
Guardians can catch the Bronx Bombers. When it comes to
a record, how about Brewers Pirates at six point forty. Now, look,
Milwaukee with their ninety victories, are likely still gonna be
locked into that three scene. But don't you feel for
what's going on in Pittsburgh. That player Big Rowdy, one
of the fan favorites there for the Pirates story that
happened with him, poor guy was four late appearances at

(06:12):
bats I know those are two different things with walks,
but he had a bonus in his contract where he
was up to two hundred thousand dollars. If Pittsburgh just
let him sit in the major leagues and hit that
two hundred k bonus, Nope, get out of here, dfaid.
Now there's a difference between certain organizations and how they
handle players. The Pirates showing why it wasn't too many

(06:33):
seasons ago right where remember CC Sabathia had that incentive
in his contract and he couldn't hit it because there
was a bench clearing brawl and they still paid them.
That's one of those scenarios. How are you treated by
your organization? How are you entreated by your employers? Your
employer screwing you over for two hundred thousand dollars and
not letting you hit the bonus and preventing you from

(06:55):
doing it, or they paying you the bonus anyways because
he did something for your team. There's the difference between
the Yankees and the It's along with many raise Tigers
by on the way six forty. Keep an eye on
that game. Keep an eye on that game. That's all
I'll say about that. With the White Sox, can you
be historically banned to get that matchup with the Angels,
a battle between a team with ninety four losses ninety
four Los Angels favorite in that game against the one

(07:20):
hundred and twenty lost White Sox. It's not clip. That's
not clip from that game. The other day in the
first sitting, Angels in White Sox and the White Sox
like broadcasters are trying to talk about how they're gonna
improve the season coming up, and it's almost out of
a movie. They're like, you know, what the team really
has to focus on next season is finding a good
closer for what you're never gonna use them. You lost

(07:43):
one hundred and twenty games. And as as dumb as
a quote as that was by the White Sox broadcasters,
as dumb as that was, ball hit high in the
air to the infield, so pitcher, catcher, first basman, third baseman,
all come in on it and it drops right in
between all four of them. Twins basically can get knocked
out of postseason tonight, and they got a game with

(08:03):
the Marlins at seven point forty and Diamondbacks Giants. Look
at this, we are stacked across the board. All these
games really truly have an impact on the New York
teams and the Major League Baseball playoff picture Diamondbacks Giants
nine to forty Chase Field, Oh man, that is not
my play of the day, but Arizona's a heavy favorite
tonight in that game. Gosh, that one's making me think.
All right, let's move on to story number two here.

(08:24):
Story number two involves the New York Yankees taken on
the baltimoreal seven oh five first pitch night, Marcus Troman
on the mount. If you missed the news from earlier
today and Nestor Cortes not the starting pitcher tonight, nester
Cortes placed on the fifteen day IL so note that
again shout out to our guy, Clay Holmes is a
closer noting there is a difference between ten days and
fifteen days. Pitchers go to the fifteen day and if

(08:47):
that holds up Yankee fan because the fifteen day trip,
Nestor Cortez likely not going to be available for the
Alds when that series gets underway, so Cortes out may
not return to the Alcs, will find out his status.
But you don't want to jump ahead to the Alcs
if you're not in the Alcs but Nester coretest scratch
for the next two weeks. Marcus Stroman gets to start tonight.

(09:07):
Is it an audition for Stroman? What does it mean?
Are the Yankees only gonna go three deep? Are we
gonna see an opener like we've seen before with Clay
Holmes and others? So Orioles have already clinched their postseason
birth Mathematically, there is still a chance that Baltimore, still
trailing the Yankees, can catch the Ale East. You've got

(09:28):
five games left. With five to play for Baltimore. Math
may officially be over on their sign tonight, not as
much as we thought would happen in this series. More,
the impact of the series again goes back to Cleveland
versus New York. Is the top seed, Baltimore a significant
lead over everybody else. They're going to be the four seed,
and they'll either host Kansas City or Detroit in the

(09:54):
opening round matchup. Minnesota still in contention as well, So
not as many storylines as we had yesterday, and many
storylines as we got from that game, So we shifted
to story number one. The New York Mets take on
the Atlanta Braves tonight. We think probably sort of right now,

(10:15):
seven to twenty first pitch is scheduled for that Mets
and Brains and when that happens, and if you know
what we're talking about, why do I keep saying scheduled?
Sort of? Maybe the storm is a brumin in Atlanta?
What is happening with tonight's game? Are we gonna get
a postponement? Are we gonna get it held off a bit?
By the end of the show. We might have an

(10:35):
answer on that, But if you look across social media,
no decision has been made. Are they gonna play a
doubleheader on Monday? Are they gonna play tomorrow? Are they
gonna play tonight? What is happening and involving the weather
for the Brains and the Mets? Are they gonna get
washed out tonight? When are you gonna make the decision?
When is it gonna happen? Mets fans, Braves fans, you

(10:56):
guys are fighting for your life to get to the postseason.
You have no idea if the gonna get played tonight.
It seems like they're gonna do everything in their power
to play at seven to twenty tonight. You love that
Met fan David Peterson's on the mound for you. Every
time he pitches Levac and I give him love. I
don't know what happened. I don't know what caused it.
I don't know why every time I see the same

(11:17):
stupid thing that we're a David Peterson's stand show. But
he's awesome. He's on the mound to Chris Sails on
the mound for the Braves. He's had a fantastic career, guys,
as long as that fantastic career as if I'm like
underplaying what he's done for the Braves this season, less
than four losses the entire year, double digit victories on
the mound. It's almost pitched one hundred and eighty eightyings.

(11:38):
He'll get over that mark tonight if all things go
right over to he had a great season for Atlanta,
He's had better season than Discreber. But he's been fantastic
for the Braves of this season. So we might get
cheated out of Peterson's sale in a playoff. Given the
biggest game, that is the biggest game, by the way,
in the Major League Baseball. I'm not even doing that
for the New York bias here, like this is the
biggest game on the slate of games tonight Mets and Braves,
scheduled seven to twenty. First pitch, What do you do?

(12:04):
Play through the brain? Play tomorrow, move the game to
Milwaukee on Monday? Doubleheader on Monday. How do you hold
your pitches? How much longer do they have to wait? Well?
We wait and see. Here's what I would do. Go
to social media, follow the updates. Is Steve cohen Rich
enough here out hear me out on the series? Is

(12:25):
Steve cohen Rich enough that he can talk to him
on their nature? Say there's some stocks. See if you
can hold off a little bit, maybe it won't happen.
Matt's Braves tonight. Get ready, Mets fans, it's gonna be chaos.
It's gonna be insanity. I don't know how that thing
is gonna finish. Have your phone out? Could that be

(12:45):
like a midnight or one o'clock finish tonight on the
East Coast with Braves fans going? Are we gonna like
triple rain delays? I can't truly off the top of
my head, I've never been more intrigued by how a
rain delay is gonna go down. I think the last
time I was this reaged about how weather effects a game.
Wasn't it the Phillies raised World Series in two thousand
and eight? If you remember that two thousand and eight

(13:08):
World Series because of television rights, what couldn't it moved
from the World Series? Was it? Travel? Gosh, that was
sixteen years ago, So some people mightn't even know what
I'm talking about if I remember this correctly, and Ken
Shotts to Phillies said, my guy, Bryce's a Phillies fan,
they might remember this a little bit better than me.
Wasn't that like a resumed game and then the next
game was scheduled to be played. That's how they figured

(13:30):
out that rain shortened World Series and they never got
to the next game because the Phillies won the World Series. Anyways,
that's sixteen years ago when weather played that much of
a factor in that game. There was times in like
the COVID season and moving games around and tie breakers,
but man, I can't think of one off the top
of my head that really was me figuring out, like,
how are they gonna move these pieces around to get

(13:51):
something started? What like that World Series back in two
thousand and eight? All right, that is the top four four.
It's brought to you by Mohawkanda where they always go

Man top four was moving to a yesterday. I felt
a little short change in the top four to four.
We gave you everything you wanted, big stories, a lot
of baseball talk. Giants are playing tomorrow Friday, by the way, Man,
that that to me, that always feels like we got
over the hump of the week there and the Wednesday.
What you passed that top forward to four and Wednesday.
If weekend is creeping up Friday, do not forget on Friday.

(15:20):
We continue to do this all year long. The you
know what, I want to do it all year long.
But it's really high school football season long that we're
gonna be out and about across a bunch of different
Stewart shops this upcoming football season. We're gonna be out
this run of getting you ready for Shen versus CBA.
Shenvers CBA one of the best games if you really,

(15:41):
you know, whatever school you root for, I think about
this isn't this one of the best games of the season.
Shen versus CBA three straight Super Bowls, a great writh
or We're gonna be at the location at twelve oh
six Route one six coming up that is gonna be
in Clifton Park, so we're gonna be broadcasting line from

(16:02):
It's gonna be a lot of fun broadcasting line from there.
A coach claws in from Shen is gonna be joining
us at three forty five for that matchup. So if
you're a Shen fan, if you're a CBA fan, we've
got that match that's our spotlighted Section two game of
the week thanks to our friends at Sewarts. And if
you want our complete list of locations, we're going to
a bunch of different spots here and across the five

November eighth. We will take you to all those spots
to find out where we're gonna be every Friday throughout
the fall, head to Fox Sports nine eighty dot com

We got so much love, man. People were hitting us
up privately too, like I think of Wellvak and I
set a record for most private messages during the show,
like you guys are in our Stewarts. You guys are

(16:45):
in my town. You gots through. I'm right next to
my work. Okay, come on over like they we're not
surprising people, We're not hiding. Look we're we're not invading.
And it'll like if you look like we invaded the
Stewart shop. No, no, they allowed us to be there.
We're supposed to be. We just didn't come bine. Say
hello next time. Abby's fantastic, Nadia Delia, our promotions team,

(17:05):
our live home location team. It's got some cool stuff.
We've got some swag out a lot of times as well.
Stop by, say hey, I heard you. Guys are gonna
be over here. The private messages are very well taken,
but we want to see you and do all the
great things. That's Stuart's cannaup you do all right. So
we got a bunch of stuff still coming up here.
We got to play the day coming up. And if
you're a fan of an NFL team, which I'm sure
you are, something's happened this week, over the last few days,

(17:28):
then I hope is not a trend in the NFL
going forward. You love your quarterback, you hate your quarterback,
you praise him, you criticize him, But coaches are doing
something real weird to quarterbacks recently. Have you noticed this?
Is this more about the new gen Z athlete? Are
we not allowed to see certain words the quarterbacks anymoere else?
They get upset and man, No, you can't say that

(17:49):
to me. No, that's not fair, that's not nice. You
might be a little confused about what I'm talking about.
Explaining more next coming up right here. I'm the voice
of the Capitol reaching sportsman Fox Sports ninety five Low's Nose.

Speaker 1 (18:28):
Say it's Levak and Guze on ninety five to nine
Fox Sports Radio Jobs Ryan Solo Today, you usually say
this one. I'm Ryan Solwyer. Send the movie Heavyweights, Mother Earth,
Father Sky and your dear old uncle Tony Tony Purkis.
It's Mother Earth, Father Sky and your dear old Gazi
Bear taking you to six o'clock today. There's a new

(18:50):
trendel as we mentioned there to close off the top
four for there's a new trend in the NFL, and
you might hate it, you might not be able to
stand it. It's happening with you. Raider fan, It's happening
with you, Jacksonville Jaguar fan, Pittsburgh Steeler fan, Miami Dolphin
fan of Jaguar fans, more of social media, hight, but
really from the coaches, from the Dolphins to the Steelers

(19:12):
to the Raiders, this new trend of we aren't naming
a starting quarterback? Wait what? I love how Pittsburgh Mike
Tomlin is just testing out his future media career by
giving outrageous terms by not naming the starter. I heard
the new one. As we're entertaining the idea of Justin

(19:33):
Fields starting week four, entertaining the idea we're making a
movement towards Justin Field's being the start. You're three and zero,
So why is he not naming the starting quarterback Antonio
Pierce did this for the Vegas Raiders. He said, we
will consider replacing or consider changing making moves necessary. What

(19:57):
what does that mean? Is this like the local media
just get way too worked up over the nitpicking line
and trying to be like that old English class in
college and high school. It's like at Jane Austen in
film class where we literally went through the movie in
the book and said, you know, the author of this
wrote it this way because you really meant this. Maybe
she didn't. Maybe she just wrote it. Maybe we don't

(20:18):
have to overstudy exactly every word of the true meaning
behind it. This is not a lin Manuel Miranda movie
or Jordan Peel horror film that something means something else.
They just don't want to say it. And now we
have the bright, the smart, the fan Mike McDaniel, and
Olvaca is sick and tired of his stuff. But Mike
McDaniel did this today if you're a Dolphin fan, about

(20:40):
potentially what the Dolphins could look like when they take
the field against the Titans on Monday. Edge football, Mike McDaniel, Tuesday.
Now again, it's Wednesday afternoon. In this getting a ton
of press a day and a half later, McDaniel quote,
there's a lot of stuff on the table as Scott
other progresses. As McDaniel went on, I think that leaves

(21:03):
variables more vague. I think we have an important forty
eight hours to see what's at and then get in
front of that for the rest of that quarterback room.
I think you having to have an open mind to
a plethora of different solutions, considering your current answers as
objectively as you can evaluate having been the right ones. Wow,

(21:26):
somewhere Gwyneth Paltrow's like, I thought I nailed a consciously uncoupling.
But if Mike McDaniel gives that type of vague answer
about his quarterback's future, if the Raiders aren't really committal
to Gardner Minshew, you get ad and o'connells still there
even though he was the starter last year, and we
get the weird Mike Tomlin stuff of not wanting to

(21:46):
name Justin Fields the starter, but he is the starter.
It is the new trend of the NFL, and again
Trevor Lawrence having to face the music and the hot
seat of whatever that means as a quarterback position was
making over two hundred million dollars. I feel like I
figured out the answer. I feel like I know the
answer to why we're getting so vague in the NFL.

(22:07):
If it's not your team that was just listed, trust me,
that team could be on the way in the future.
This seems to be the new style. I wonder if
this is how it goes. Is college sports rubbing off
on professional sports? Are professional athletes maybe the quarterback position
in particular a little bit ooh. I don't want to
say the word softer than they used to be. Now,

(22:29):
if you're a bit older, more of a veteran listener,
he might be nod in your head. You're like, yes, guys,
you figured it out. The quarterbacks are softer. They can't
take criticism, they can't handle it. They don't want to
be embarrassed. Is there more of a focus on the
quarterback position now in twenty twenty four than ever before
in the history of the league, No doubt, And that's
proven by the amounts of the salaries and how high
these things go. But you would think in professional sports

(22:51):
in comparison to college that if you offend somebody, if
you say they're the starter, that's not actually offending them.
That's speaking facts and truth. This guy starting this week,
he's our better option, he's our better player. The other
guys stunk, He's not good, he didn't play well enough.
We're going on. That is sports to it. I don't
care if it's high school, college, the NFL. If one

(23:12):
guy's playing better than the other, it's not personal. He's
playing better. We're competing, We're trying to win. That's what's
going on here. But for whatever reason, Pittsburgh doesn't want
to offend Russell Wilson. I've heard some takes naturally, luckily
not on this side of Fox Sports. That well, Russell
Wilson's earned the respect not to be named a backup. Wait,

(23:33):
what what do you mean, earn the respect not to
be a backup? What world warped reality do you live in?
You're not on the field, you're not playing, you're the backup.
That is the odd thing. Well, we actually didn't lose
the game. We just didn't win the game. Wait what

(23:54):
I remember that's what the heat that took out at
Central New York for a while when they let go
of brenn Ax, one of the hosts out there because
the owner out there, Ed Levine said it was not
nice to Syracuse. We have a lot of these Homer
radio stations that maybe the owner of the teams, and
like Jim Beheimo own's distinction that you're trying to trick
the audience, trick the consumer of no, no, no, that's
not really what happened. We're gonna change the message, whether

(24:18):
that is from teams, politicians, whether it's from media companies, movies,
fans of TV shows. I'm sure that happens a lot
more often in manipulating the message has come across. But
football fans and sports fans aren't that dumb because they
watched the product and listen to the product. Justin Fieldz
is playing better. You're not gonna offend Russell Wilson my

(24:39):
saying the truth of he's better, he's younger, we want him.
What's gonna happen if Gardner Minshew gets offended that the
Raiders have went with a younger option who played for
the team last year, what's you gonna do? Quin can't guys,
you can't transfer? Well, touch on the unil vikan in
the third hour. It's gonna quit. He's gonna leave the team.

(24:59):
It's not gonna happen. They aren't in these situations like
Cleveland's in with Deshaun Watson guaranteed money. They're not in
this situation like Trevor Lawrence, who's notgn A two hundred
plus million dollars year. They aren't stuck with the guys
they just talked about. But yet there, Oh, you gotta
be careful. Can't name anybody. We have a plethora of
options we have to consider to make it for Tim Boyle,

(25:20):
Skyler Thompson. Where the hell's Ryan Tannehill. That's how we
have to treat people now, like the idea that you
can't offend somebody because they're not playing well and have
to warp this reality and I get it, like, maybe
that is the athlete now that when they went through
high school and they went through college that if you
said something bad about the quarterback play, they can get
up and leave. They're not under contracts, and there are

(25:42):
a lot of people who are pushing for college athletes
to be under contracts, even though they technically are under
contracts because they are on a one year scholarship. That's
one of the biggest misconceptions in the history of sports
that when you signed you a school, you think you're
on a four year scholarship, No, no, no, one year, and
then the coach in the programs to sign whether or
not they're going to renew your scholarship for season number two,

(26:03):
and it some takes, you might see a walk on
athlete get that scholarship instead. It's not a four year
contract or four year scholarship. I'm shocked by this, Like
you would think with all the money in the NFL
that when a guy's not playing well, the words we've
replaced him, he's no longer the starter would be university,

(26:24):
except yeah, it's gonna make headlines like Carolina is a
great example of this. Well, look what Carolina just did.
I came on here last week and told you that's
more about David Tepper. And as more and more voices
offered their opinions on the story, it felt like like
ninety five percent of people agreed that it was David Tepper,
that Bryce Young had gone through three head coaches in
his eighteen games, that he was never set up to

(26:46):
have success in Carolina, that he was going to struggle
trying to find new things out of Alabama. Well, and
adn't looked awesome. Carolina did within that game against the Raiders.
But they didn't care that Bryce Young was offended a
no oh not a franchise number one overall pick, not
that they said you're not good enough, You're not gonna play.

(27:06):
How often does it happen to where you work? I
love doing these comparisons about how you make your nine
to five living. If you're on a sales team and
somebody's a more veteran salesman who's worked in arts or
entertainment or the automobile industry, they might get the nod
for the client over you because you have different strengths.
Like that's common sense, that's how that works. We don't

(27:28):
have to sugarcoat every single thing in life anymore. We
don't have to. Wee cans tell people the truth that
they're not playing well enough, and they can be named
a quarterback. Russell Wilson's earned the respect not to being
named a backup. What Gardner Minshew's done enough for us
early on that we're not gonna make them okay.

Speaker 2 (27:49):
To uh.

Speaker 1 (27:50):
We have faith in him going forward. We want to
find out what his future is gonna be, so we
don't want to sign anybody like this is the trip
I'm gonna ask mad for aram this question coming up
at five o'clock because now this has popped into my
mind and maybe it's in your mind as well. Are
we gonna hit a point in the NFL where we're
just gonna sit down and be like, hang on the
two hundred and fifty million dollar contract? Do we have

(28:12):
to do this? Is the guy really? Is the agent
really gonna get upset with one hundred and eighty million
or one hundred and fifty Do we have to make
the salary this hime? Do we just because the market
is dictating this is the number we have to pay?
Is this the universal number for everybody? Because eventually it
has to hit a breaking point where forty eight percent

(28:33):
of your camp can't be taken up by one player
fifty two fifty six percent. You've got to spend the
money somewhere else, and this might be the moment like
San Francisco seems to be the answer. But now with
everybody getting hurt, brock Perty is the lone guy who's
got this happening. I like Joe Burrow, Joe Burrow hasn't
lived up to that contract yet. Josh Allen and Patrohomes

(28:53):
are underpaid. I love playing that game of a match.
If Jerry Jones had all the money to spend in
the world, how much money would he offer Patrick Mahomes.
We haven't seen that happen before, but we're watching it
happen in the NFL now because now you have to
pay your guy, who's an average quarterback over two hundred
million dollars and in Cleveland's sake, guaranteed not every contracts
like Watson's. But then they stink, then you can't get

(29:14):
off of it. But then you can't say that they're bad,
And then you have to go on social media. If
an athlete complains and wants to get traded and thank
them for the time there, like the NBA does, then
you gotta get the montage video of the athlete even
though they hated being there for the last few years.
Then you might have to retire there. This has to
be just the world we live in twenty twenty four
that social media is so mean to the athlete, but

(29:35):
the athlete has a warped pursue. I hope we're not
gonna get even more away from reality in the next
five to ten to fifteen years in sports that like
we have to have it like a new position. Starter
number two. We can't offend the athlete we got. I
can't call him backup, can't call them the guy who
sitting on the bench. Starter number two and starter number three.

(29:56):
This is no longer called the bench. This is the
prepar ration area where if anything goes wrong, you're preparing
to take the field. I said it as a joke
that what I stood on the sidelines at Hobart for
a majority of my career, we are getting mental reps,
not physical reps, not practicing with the ones, not going
out there and prepping for the matchup. But I'd stand
there and mentally understand what was going on, just name

(30:22):
starting quarterbacks. You would think, with gambling and with injury
reports that they just couldn't do that anymore. But my
new problem is just tell somebody who's the starter. Nobody's
gonna get offended if you get benched, especially within an injury,
or you get hurt. It's okay to actually tell people
the truth of what's going on out there. I promise

(30:44):
you people will not get offended, it will not hurt
their feelings. They will be just fine. Elevation ten thousand.

(31:47):
in New York sports that continues to confuse me. It
hasn't just happened recently. This has been happened for nearly
three decades. Can someone who's been a sports fan for
a long time help me figure out one of these
great riddles that continues to happen in sports? And maybe
Capital Region Sports says, you might be able to help

(32:07):
me figure it out. That's coming up. Plus, I give
you a play of the day, like we do it
every single time at four forty five, But we've been
getting our butts kicked with some But it looks like
somebody is getting a little hot again. You riding with me,
you faded me. I will give you a play coming up,
and I think you're gonna be a little surprised at
what it's gonna be. Not the most exciting play, but

(32:27):
what's exciting is that you're putting money in your pocket.
Get all that coming up on the way as we
close out our number three up next, or hearing the
voice of the Capital Region Sports saying Fox Sports ninety
five to nine and nine to eighty, Well back in
guys on ninety five to nine Fox Sports Radio. We
are just moments away from closing on our number two
and getting you to our number three. A lot of
fun stuff on the way today, including conversation with our

(32:50):
guy Matt Verderam covering the NFL. Maybe a Capital region
familiar voice Brian no is also coming up to the
third hour. I know he is to him earlier today.
You hear that conversation coming up. I'll give you the
play of the day. I hate yesterday. By the way,
how about nice little cash A little plus money for
Oh guys, you be putting some money in your pocket
yesterday with that hit involving the Baltimore Orioles. I will
say another way where you can pocket some cash for

(33:12):
yourself coming up in a few minutes. I am confused
about this. It's still to this day. I don't get it.
You gotta help me at Tom gonns tmgo's easy. This
thing that happens in sports all the time that no
one has ever explained to me, find an outlet. Do
the math? Help me? Where did Spike Lee get all
this money? How do you find all this money? I

(33:34):
get he's at director I gutes he's put out a
ton of film. Quick quickly do the math on this,
and I'm talking about Spike Lee. Last night, Sabrino Neescu
helps the Liberty in the WNBA postseason advance to the
semi finals. We rarely talked WNBA action email, the sport's
more popular, we rarely do it. Here at four forty five,
I just don't get where Spike Lee got all this
money from because just like quick quick thought, Okay, Spike

(33:59):
Lee sits court signed at the Knicks. How often has
he done that? How often has he had those seats?
Ten years longer than that? Twenty years? Thirty years, So
Spike Lee has had court signed seat for the Knicks
for thirty years. So that's what, let's say, for the

(34:19):
sake of this conversation, twenty thousand dollars. Let's say a
seat at a New York Knicks home game court signed,
best seat in the house is twenty k Okay, they
got forty home games. So you're telling me Spike Lee
is spending eight hundred thousand dollars a year on tickets

(34:40):
to games. Spike Lee is able to do that. So
thirty years times eight hundred thousand, Spike Lee spent somewhere
between ten and twenty million dollars on NBA tickets over
the last thirty years. So I'm just counting those games.
I'm not talking the road games. I'm not talking about situations.
Was like this where he's there given the fist pump

(35:04):
and the love to Sabrino Nescu. Like the other celebrities
were there. Joh Rule was there, Gabby Thomas was there,
for Rell was there. Where did Spike Lee get all
this money do the right thing that that? Well, he
just got this much money to blow the cost to
go to sport events. I get it. When you got
jacket the Laker games. I get that. I get Drake

(35:25):
at the Raptor game. Spike Lee has that type of money. Okay,
Like it was an awesome moment. There's a lot going
on in New York sports right now, the WNBA finding
its way to make headlines with that. And who's an
escu of awesome player she's been or it's not too
long ago. How quickly we forget things that Sabrino Nescu

(35:47):
was supposed to be. Caitlyn Clark, remember, best player we've
ever seen in women's basketball History's gonna change the world,
Like we had her in the mix of player who's
gonna be the next phenom? Just no one was like
Katelyn Clark, quite like her, but she was pitched and
marketed as being that player going forward. Spike Lee, Man,
how does he have this much money to constantly afford

(36:09):
things like that? Lows my mind. I don't get it.
I'll just give me the play of the day. Thank
you to Mohawks Chevrolet, Mohawk Chevrolet, where they always go
on other way to please you? Do we go back
to the well tonight? Do we do another Oriel Yankee bet?
It seems like the easiest way to do it after
cashing money line plus money yesterday with the O's and securing,

(36:30):
as we said at leader off today's show, securing that
I at least have time before I lose this bet,
at least knowing one side of the bet of the
stand up Lovak and Guys Oriel Yankee bet still stays alive.
I stay alive. I'm gonna pass on Yankees and O's tonight.
The fun should be picking a game that has playoff implications,

(36:50):
picking a game that's actually gonna matter for the postseason
that comes around in October. And I don't like any
of the numbers, though Audrey's clinched yesterday with that game
ending triple play. Would it be fun to go back
to Podres Dodgers with Podres with plus money? But what
are they playing four beside seedy? You're like, yeah, doesn't
get me super excited. What about a game involving the

(37:13):
Tigers in the Rays where the Tiger offense is hilariously awful,
but they are in position to be a postseason team?
You know what, Let's do that. Let's go and bore
ourselves to death with raised Tigers. Let's do the under
at eight and a half tonight. The Tiger offense? How
are they winning games? I get? Their pitching staff is

(37:33):
argably the best in baseball? Seven of their last eight,
they've won eight of their last ten. They're sitting in
prime position to be a postseason team? Are they gonna
win every game? Three to one? Two? Nothing? Sign young
award winning pitcher on their staff? In a two game
lead over Minnesota. So if you were a Houston Astro fan,
how great of a world would that be? Yankee fan?

(37:54):
If all of a sudden that the Tigers knock off
the Astros, you get Baltimore. You might get a Tiger
team in the ALCS. That's a potential world you live in.
But give me the under tonight in Tigers rays with
Detroit pulling away from Minnesota, how abut Minnesota too? If
you're a Twin fan, you what's about heartbreak? You want
to talk about a franchise letting you down? This has

(38:15):
been your team all season long. Minnesota's constantly won the
al Central. Minnesota thought they could finally have the season
where they break through and beat the Yankees. What do
they do at the end? Lose seven of the last
ten games, find themselves on the outside looking into the
postseason to a Tiger team that really truly right now,

(38:37):
if you sat down and said, could you name four
players on the Detroit Tigers, Not who's played for the Tigers,
but right now, could you name four players on the
Detroit Tigers. Could you name two players on the Detroit
Tigers that Tiger team could be going to the postseason?
That's right, Detroit. How familiar are you with the work

(38:57):
of two sixty two leading hit or Riley Green? Are
you familiar with his work? How about Carrie Carpenter? Have
you been following his career? What about Andy a Banyez.
Former Yankee Geo Orchella is on the squad. Been locked
in on Erschella since then. But that Tiger team could

(39:18):
be going to the Pussy's Give Me Under eight and
a half tonight Detroit, Tampa. In that matchhip, we had
hour number three coming up on the way. We are
excited to bring you all that action. But let's talk
about Mohawk Schevley. First, Mohawks Schevarer. They always going on
their way to please you. Have you been watching the Dealership,
the show that's been going viral. Mohawks chevro La can
help you find that ride you're looking for. I have

(39:39):
not seen in a few days, Scarjo Wevak's loved black
Widow vehicle. He grabbed the truck thanks to Mohawk Scheffer.
Lee shot out to Andy Kelcher and everybody over there
helping people across the Campital region, an up State New
York find ryants that they love driving around Upstate New
York in the Campital region, you can find the vehicle
that you love as well by stopping over to Mohawks Shevley.
The Dealership, not just the viral television show, but the

(40:01):
actual dealership right there in Malta is beautiful. You're gonna
find a vehicle that you're gonna love. Cannot wait to
get back there this October as well. Broadcast line for
Mohawks Chevrolet and see all the great people over in
Mohawks Chevrolet. It's Mohawks Chevrolet where they always go on
the way to please you. All right, let's get a
little jump early in our number three. All the great
things that you can find out, the good conversations and more.
Let's do it right here in the voice of the

(40:22):
Campa region sports fan, Fox Sports ninety five, nine and
nine eighty
