Speaker 1 (00:00):
It's time for the Top four four with Levac and Guyze.
Speaker 2 (00:06):
It's time of the four bigger stories in the world
of story. That was a swiftie, Yeah, like a swiftiest
the show they've turned to golf. They've turned the golf now.
Speaker 3 (00:13):
Oh god, I'm not golf.
Speaker 2 (00:15):
I didn't know Jnymore.
Speaker 3 (00:21):
Travis lied to all of us.
Speaker 2 (00:23):
Die uh. Set for the four big stories of the
little sports brought you by Mohawk Honor, where they always
go out of their way to please you.
Speaker 3 (00:29):
Have this image now of a swiftye with like.
Speaker 1 (00:32):
A putt putt golf club dragging the ball to the
whole buying.
Speaker 3 (00:38):
I got two the.
Speaker 2 (00:39):
Worst day ever. Let's talk about the happy boys.
Speaker 1 (00:43):
Let's talk about the ap Top twenty five pole, which
mine will be released tomorrow that weird Monday kickoff and
everything else that happens, so mine will be back up
on Fox Sports nine eighty tomorrow. Would have been better
faned out now to do the segment, but nonetheless Top
twenty five pole is out. Georgia remains number one. Ohio
stated two I could run through it. But the biggest change,
the thing people want to note are two involving acc
(01:04):
teams one. The Clemson Tigers have still found their way
into the top twenty five. They sit at twenty five
in the top twenty five pool Georgia Tech, who, by
the way, Syracuse plays this week and said I'm the
jam a wiredless dome. Twenty third ranked Georgia Tech yellowjacket.
Syracuse did get one vote in the AP Top twenty five.
In Florida State out in the top twenty five. Lavak
(01:26):
hearing the ACC shakeup, is it pretty easy to say
now it's a wide open conference? Or did Miami impress
you so much? It's Miami versus everybody else.
Speaker 2 (01:35):
I think it's a poop conference. I think the entire
conference is do doo. I don't think Miami's all that exciting.
I think they they're better than we thought they were,
but they were geared up. You had, you had that
much time to prepare. Let's see what you do now,
Let's see what you do moving forward. That's that's kind
of where I stand, because I just cusk got pushed
(01:56):
around a little bit by by Ohio. Florida State is garbage.
I just I'm not that. I'm I'm yet to be impressed.
How's that?
Speaker 1 (02:08):
Here's the problem with the ACC, And yes, I think
a lot of those are fair criticisms of the conference.
And just gotta give one other note here, Miami seven
spots to twelve, USC the biggest jumpers in the poll,
if you want to call it that way, up to
thirteen they said at twenty three last week. Looking at
how I would have voted, and I will vote, is
that Louisville Georgia Tech both unranked, both in their ACC teams.
(02:32):
So twenty two to twenty three, twenty four, twenty five
all ACC teams. So I'm gonna say, wait, five ACC
teams are in the top twenty five, and I'm totally
with you. The conference stinks. If anything, Clemson's out, NC
State's out. I would have Boston College at twenty two.
Boston College, if you did a top thirty pole, they
(02:52):
would have came in at twenty seven. You and I
were texting a lot during that game. Quarterbacks.
Speaker 2 (02:56):
Okay.
Speaker 3 (02:57):
Castianos feels like he has a cult followed. People want to.
Speaker 1 (03:01):
Call him Anthony, people want to call him Tony. People
just want to wager on him. He has a cult.
Not Johnny Football yet, but some people nick Castianis is
a weirdo man. I didn't realize I'll strange that guys.
He did an interview with that will Be Network and
he espn he likes to just give one word answers
to make himself laugh. Probably would find it funnier if
I didn't work in media. But I think Boston College
(03:23):
is there was a lot more love you and I
watched a lot of that game, and that defense is
pretty good in Bill O'Brien not exactly a warm teddy bear,
but maybe that style still kind of works in college.
And can we get Bill O'Brien another shirt? By the way,
as somebody who sweats like I'm a sweater, I admit
that I put on a lot of deodorant. I would
sweat in the armpit the most he had, like the
(03:44):
armpit boom sweat going but through the jacket and that
poor guy man. Every time they cut to the sidelines,
it was like the worst, get the guy another jacket.
Speaker 2 (03:54):
My god, somebody talked.
Speaker 1 (03:56):
All right, we'll move on from Bill O'Brien's boob and
sweat from his pit to story number three. No transition
there mets Red Sox. That series continues tonight, a seven
to ten first pitch. The Mets and Red Sox bowl
teams that maybe free season wise, you think could have
been in contention. But the Mets are on fire. That
is now six consecutive wins for the New York Mets.
They continue to be a top team of the National
(04:17):
League Wild Card. How about seven of their last eight
New York Levack. It feels like they figured this thing out.
Our guy Drew Peterson fantastic again on the mound last night.
We are a Drew Peterson stand show until someone says
something different. Eleven strikeouts, a career high on his birthday. Peterson,
we said at Levac a key to this season, A
(04:38):
big reason why the Mets took down the Red Sox
last night.
Speaker 2 (04:42):
Yeah, I mean the Mets look look good right now.
They look they look stable, They looked you know, Francisco
Lindor has been a monster. Peterson a stable, stable pitcher
who goes out and just pitches just well almost every
time he's out there. But when you look at the
consistency they have versus the not sense of the Yankees.
I say this and then they do love to prove
(05:03):
me wrong. All of a sudden, it'll be a complete meltdown.
The next night out. But right now I have no
reasonably the Mets will find their way into the wild card.
Speaker 1 (05:11):
Too early for what I wanted to yeah, too early
here where I was gonna say, I was gonna say,
have we already now hit that it's September fifth.
Speaker 3 (05:18):
September fifth, right, September fourth.
Speaker 1 (05:20):
September, first week, that it's too early to say there
was the right call was made that they weren't active
in swinging away and getting rid of Halans or anybody else.
Speaker 3 (05:31):
September fourth. There you go, in case you didn't know.
By four o'clock.
Speaker 1 (05:34):
Today, I feel like we've already hit that point. Maybe
the Mets are in contention. The Mets are really good.
They're playing great baseball. I know they're right in the
fringe here in the wildcard. But how it looks right now,
I don't know if Met fans like, oh, I can't
believe it didn't trade so and so. You're good, But
worry about that stuff. What worry about the present. Don't
worry about what you did in the past.
Speaker 2 (05:49):
Move on.
Speaker 3 (05:50):
You're in a great spot right now. Don't worry about
your well anymore.
Speaker 2 (05:52):
I mean, imagine how much imagine how good they could
be with the right move or two.
Speaker 3 (05:57):
Now we're in twenty twenty five.
Speaker 2 (05:59):
I'm saying now because like you're almost there, pena a
Lonzo starting to come alive. Finally, you know, a couple
quick little pick me ups. But they did, I mean,
they added pitching, that's what they really had to do,
and they got rid of some dead weight. They did
make some decent moves. But I just it's so they're
(06:22):
so close, like you can see where they're at. They're
so close.
Speaker 3 (06:24):
I don't even you know nothing in back.
Speaker 1 (06:26):
I don't know if i'd love to that storyline I
did there for the top four or four because I
feel like I'm not giving them Mets enough credit, Like
it shouldn't be about that anymore.
Speaker 3 (06:33):
I know that's very cliche.
Speaker 1 (06:34):
It's very almost the opposite of usually what I go
with here, But it's like they should really be worried
about the next game, worry about the Red Sox, worry
about the Brave series coming up later this month, don't
worry about July anymore, don't less, don't lots of things done,
he's on the team. Worry about getting to the dance,
worry about getting over the top of Atlanta. That's all
you should be concerned about. Met fan one game at
a time. There's your cliche in a sports show, but
(06:57):
it's like they look like they're having fun of that.
Speaker 2 (06:59):
That's what they're doing. And if you can trace it
back to a closed door player of meeting after the
nut shop, through the glove into the stands, everybody want
me to believe that he said that he was a
bad teammate. I think he said it was a bad
team and they didn't agree. I think they you know, listen,
I'm growing. It's not just because I don't really care
(07:19):
for Otani. I don't, but I'm this Lindor for MVP
thing is growing some steam with me.
Speaker 3 (07:25):
I'm in he'll be this second in the MVP vote.
Speaker 1 (07:29):
It'll be the second place finisher as long as the
Atani's breathing air. Ohtani might go fifty to fifty this year.
Speaker 3 (07:36):
He forty five forty five? Did it happen yet?
Speaker 1 (07:38):
I feel like it's like a matter of moments before
he goes forty five to forty five.
Speaker 2 (07:41):
I think he just stole he just stole something. I
don't know what it was.
Speaker 1 (07:44):
I have our park you lot, Yeah, so second place
finisher Francisco Lindor.
Speaker 3 (07:49):
Let's move on a story number too.
Speaker 1 (07:50):
The New York Yankees take on the defending World Series
champion Texas Rangers. The only place, unfortunately for Capitol region
sports stands, where you can consume this content is on
Amazon Prime tonight, eight oh five. First pitch on Amazon,
Lavac As. We always like to say, if you're an
older Yankee fan, please don't yell at people if you're
trying to find the game on Amazon Prime tonight. But
(08:10):
Yankees Rangers, we touched on this a little bit earlier
in the show. If you missed that, our number one
Apple Spotify, the iHeart app, Always share it, put on
those automatic downloads and more, put it in your car,
plug it in, take us anywhere you want. Uh Stroman
on the mound tonight storylines jumping out to you, Levac,
I want to go with the classic John Sterling one
will Yesterday's finishing pact today's game, But I feel like
(08:30):
it's a lot more about Marcus Stroman tonight, trying to
find out where he fits in this Yankees' rotation. Is
he a playoff Calimber arm? Is he an arm you
can rely on for these September and October important games.
That's what I want to focus on. Is this one
of these tests where is Droman a guy? When he
takes the bump, when he takes the mound for the Yankees,
You're gonna feel confident for him in these important games
over the next few weeks.
Speaker 2 (08:54):
You need somebody because right now, if Garrett Cole is
not there, I don't really believe any of these guys
in and out. Stroman's shown some consistency. The most important
thing about Stroman, Let's forget about everything else. He hasn't
blown up knocked on wood. I mean, by now, I
would have kind of expected him to throw a temper tantrum.
Speaker 3 (09:11):
I was convinced.
Speaker 1 (09:12):
It was one of my favorite takes of the MLB
season of He's gonna have something happened. May not be
a bad start, might be a fan interaction, might be
a stupid thing with a jersey, a person in the equipment.
He's gonna pipe off on social media and start ranting
and ravening, because that's been his thing he's done his
entire career. I hope it'd be interesting if this really
was what happened that conversation when he was acting like
(09:34):
a nut on the field, and Aaron judged it enough
that not here, you don't act like that for a Yankee.
Speaker 2 (09:38):
I wonder if that really hit him and he's like, Okay,
my bad, didn't know. I couldn't do that. Here, I'm
gonna pull back. I'm gonna mature a little bit. I
wonder if that's earlier in the summer confrontation. I'll go
with with Judge during a game when I believe it
was the labor had an error in the field.
Speaker 3 (09:53):
Yep, changed the way in.
Speaker 1 (09:54):
Which Marcus Strom has conducted himself off the field.
Speaker 2 (09:59):
I mean, what other what? What? Who do you need
more than the best player in baseball? Sorry, I just
got a note from somebody that just deflected me slightly. Well.
I mean like like, if you're not gonna take if
you're not gonna take lessons from the best player in baseball,
then who are you gonna take him from? So you know,
(10:19):
but that doesn't that doesn't always work either, Like you know,
Tom Brady couldn't get Antonio Brown to be right. So
it's there you go. I mean, that's good. Good for him.
He keeps keep between the lines and move.
Speaker 3 (10:31):
Forward, and that Strowman judge. Thing was public.
Speaker 1 (10:34):
You never know what happens privately inside the locker room,
inside the clubhouse and everything else. I wondered, Levac, if
you were startled, distracted, scrambled because of what happened to
lead off today's show. It is story number one is
a Fox Sports ninety five nine nine eighty exclusive. You
missed the start of the show today. The team president
for the Albany Firebirds, Jeff Levac, yes the same Levac
(10:56):
from Lavak and Goss, opened the show today and confirmed
this news that the all Many Firebirds will not be
played in the Arena Football League for the twenty twenty
five season. Again confirmed earlier on the show today, the
Arena Football League and the al Many Firebirds will not
be a thing in twenty twenty five?
Speaker 3 (11:15):
What does that mean? As a new era begins? Today?
Speaker 1 (11:18):
Was the social media post for the firebirds official account.
Levac and I talked a lot about this. Lax phone
has been lightened up for the last hour. About what
all that means?
Speaker 3 (11:26):
Uh, Levac?
Speaker 1 (11:26):
I can keep quoting you awkwardly, or I can just
ask you to comment on these things again, but I'll
just such up like this. What can Capital Regions sports
fans expect over the course of the next twenty four
to seventy two hours when we talk about where and
in what league the Firebirds may be competing. And I'm
not talking about give us all the information or the
information some money even be decided. Yet, what can Capital
(11:48):
Regions sports fans expect schedule wise over the course of
the rest.
Speaker 2 (11:51):
Of the week. There could be a press release today.
I did the reason you are correct, I did just
lose my mind for a quick second because it looked
like the league had put out everything. They didn't yet
so they still haven't announced the league. I can just
tell you that that we're They're clearly close to it.
(12:13):
I'll tell you that much, because all day I've been told, wait,
you can't say the league yet, and alson, I looked
up and I saw a video on social media that
let me believe we've given out the league. We've yet
another hint towards another clue in the direction of where
the Firebirds were playing next year. What I can tell
you right now, confidently and with no issues, is we
(12:35):
will not be in the AFL.
Speaker 1 (12:38):
I pushed back earlier in the show about what that
means is it a Pack twelve situation where everyone looks
at other conferences in leagues and says, this is better
for our franchise because it means something has happened with
the name of the Arena Football League. Doesn't mean that
decision makers in the Arena Football Ing you are going
to go to a different spot. A lot of those
questions probably were hashed out over the last few hours.
We will have more information on that as the week
(12:59):
can continues to roll on, so I mean I.
Speaker 3 (13:02):
Can keep asking to those same questions.
Speaker 1 (13:03):
I feel like it'll be, as they like to say
in professional wrestling, long term storytelling, not in the sense
Levak's gonna have a story to tell, but information will
be continue to be put out week by week.
Speaker 3 (13:15):
Witch.
Speaker 1 (13:15):
And I'm not just saying this because it's the Firebirds,
a team that employees may that promotes itself here on
the station and that you are also employed by, but
because that is the way to do it in twenty
twenty four, I would say that about any professional or
college or even high school teams who have a following.
You don't have to do it all on one day.
If you want your fans connected and caring about stuff,
it's okay to leave these bread crumbs, these teases, to
(13:35):
get the social media engagement, to get the algorithm and
be cracked a little bit.
Speaker 3 (13:40):
As much as I am frustrated that I don't have more.
Speaker 1 (13:42):
Information as a professional who does this, I do think
it's a right method by the organization to say, hey,
even though we're not playing games right now, we could
still be on the top of mind to Capital region
sports fans.
Speaker 2 (13:53):
Absolutely, and listen, this is when the guys who don't
play between the loyal lines get things done. You know.
This is this is when the real work, as far
as the schedules and all those things. If it's done right,
you don't have any problems during the season. So it's
the people that are in the room. I have a
great I'm I'm excited and I'm confident that it's gonna
(14:15):
be better. I am. But then again, like I said,
some video just came out and I'm like, what the
hell is how come I didn't know about that? Uh?
Ben Ben's following orders? All right, Let's just say this,
there's a lot of there's a lot of important people
in a meeting right now making decisions, and those decisions
(14:37):
they make are what we will march to. However, they're not.
I'm not in that room, and I want to be.
Speaker 3 (14:45):
In that room.
Speaker 1 (14:47):
I was gonna drop a Hambleton reference there, and I'm
gonna wouldn't have got it. I know, I'm not gonna
someone watch Hamilton. You know what's that references the room
where it happens. It's fantastic number. Let's talk about mohawk
Kanda before I confuse the back with more odd Hamilton
in references. Mohawkan is the place that we hope you
can join us on Tuesday. That's right, next Tuesday, September tenth,
we're gonna be broadcasting live for mohaw Kanda your opportunity
(15:08):
to get yourself into a new ride. Moms and dads,
maybe school starts tomorrow. Maybe for some of you, like me,
school started today. Do you want to roll up to
your kids' school? Oh gosh, is that with so and so?
Those parents drive? Don't embarrass your children. Mohawk Kana can
help you not embarrass your kids. You're probably gonna do
that on your own anyways, but if they will get
you into a vehicle that will fit your budget and
(15:28):
your lifestyle, maybe you need some car seats, maybe you're
no longer in the car seat stage. Mohawk Kan will
help you find that ride, especially if you have those
bills on the way, daycare, maybe pre school, playing football,
this upcoming hear. All that stuff adds up and you
want a vehicle that can help you, whether it's new
or pre owned. The staff there in Mohawk Kan, it
can help you find that ride today. And I know
from experience, I love my CRV. Both boys riding dare
(15:52):
not even saying style. I don't know if I want
to go that far. Those two just seem like they
were in a good mood riding with dad to school today.
My wife loves her Odyssey as well. The vehicles that
fit my budget and mind lifestyle, they can do the
same for you. Shout out to Greg Johnson and Lindsay
Heridan John Lucas, by the way, what an awesome piece
They head up on him about social media, talking about
his journey over the last three years in Mohawk Conda.
He's a father as well, so he gets everything I'm
(16:13):
talking about. Shout out to our guy Nate, welcome his
daughter as well. We're gonna do some really cool stuff
on the way social media wise. Coming up here in
the Fallen mort it's Mohawkanda where they always go out
of their way to please you. More on the way
next to the levec I looked at the run right now,
it better not be what I think it is.
Speaker 2 (16:30):
Oh it is no, No, I don't do it.
Speaker 3 (16:32):
Next here on Fox Sports Radio ninety five.
Speaker 1 (16:35):
Nine eighty, it's Lavac and Guz on ninety five nine
Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (16:41):
Such a good day, such a fun day. Crazy, it's
going on the rest of my life. But you know
what they can count on. You bring out the helmet,
you bring out the best. Dave Helman's power rankings from
our Fox Sports Big Fox ready to go excited. We
got to tell you this. Okay, during the Scottish Games,
(17:03):
a slightly older woman walked up Fox Sports or Fox News.
I'm like, can I go I'm like, looking at I smiled,
I'm like, I don't want to be a jerk, but
you can see the logo right She goes, oh, Sports, okay,
what about Fox News. I'm like, what about it? I
don't know, like it's sports, but I'm like I don't understand.
She goes, ah, you know, I was just curious. I go,
(17:24):
I go, are you Are you jonesing so hard to
argue with someone at Fox News that you're willing to
walk up to Fox Sports and start a fight. And
she's kind of smiled. I'm like, I aint j Huckleberry.
I was like, enjoy your day. Yeah, that's how bad
people are out there right now, that's how bad. All right, really.
Speaker 3 (17:43):
Careful over the next two months.
Speaker 1 (17:44):
So you're having conversations with there's no positives, no matter
what side, left or right.
Speaker 2 (17:48):
Oh my goodness, Yeah, you can't win. That's I was like.
I was like, I tend to walk the middle. I
go and she and she's like, all right, I go.
But I'm totally wanting for Trump, just because I knew
that was gonna lilew up, like the anger thing.
Speaker 3 (18:03):
I'm not being sarcastic gonna say this. I mean serious.
Speaker 1 (18:05):
If you really want to share your political views, download
the iHeart app.
Speaker 2 (18:09):

Speaker 1 (18:23):
You can do it every single day from now till
the first Tuesday and November. I want to mention this
before we dive into the power rankings. The next few days.
We'll say, like Friday at four o'clock is the return
of Fantasy Versus Reality, My and your favorite segment.
Speaker 3 (18:38):
We do weekly picks Fantasy football.
Speaker 2 (18:41):
We compete.
Speaker 1 (18:42):
We have the CDTA Kickstarter Monday at three o'clocks. It
feels like that going forward Tuesdays at four point twenty,
even though today is a Wednesday, We're gonna get the
power rankings every single time.
Speaker 3 (18:55):
So who knows.
Speaker 1 (18:56):
As much as I despise the power rankings, this could
be sponsored in the future.
Speaker 2 (19:02):
I don't want to go okay it, let's do it.
Come on, people, the aniple love how much you love
the power rankings? Okay?
Speaker 1 (19:10):
Twenty twenty four NFL preseason Week one Power Rankings. This
is right, preseason. Everything's wiped away. We just saw in August.
We're starting fresh regularly.
Speaker 2 (19:19):
September fourth. This was written the twelve oh four's post.
Speaker 1 (19:23):
That defending champions of the Super Bowl, we step into
the season. The number one team I would say it's
the Kansas City Chiefs.
Speaker 2 (19:29):
Ding, Dang, Ding, dang. You are correct. With Super Bowl
odds of plus five fitty already out of the gates.
Speaker 1 (19:35):
It gets confusing because rational thinking would tell you the
next team, this is my guest. Rational thinking would tell you, well,
gods picked the Chiefs to be team one because they
Wantuper Bowl right to play. The team they beat in
the Super Bowl would be the Niners. But I'm not
going to guess the Niners because they've had Trent Williams
issues with his contract in Brandon Nayuk and McCaffrey and
Purty playing too much in the preseason.
Speaker 3 (19:55):
Some would argue on the left.
Speaker 1 (19:56):
Coast, Baltimore is a sexy pick, and for those who
listen to the NFL preview show, the fact picked Baltimore
to win the AFC. I believe Baltimore is a better
team than the Niners, so I actually would put the
Baltimore Ravens at number two.
Speaker 2 (20:14):
He does not have the Baltimore Ravens at number two.
Speaker 1 (20:17):
Let's guess the San Francisco forty nine ers at number two.
Speaker 3 (20:20):
Unbelievable. Why do we do this? I hate it.
Speaker 2 (20:24):
I mean the two he has moved them, but nothing happened.
They got better.
Speaker 1 (20:29):
Williams is gonna play, Oh, Williams is gonna play on Monday?
Speaker 3 (20:34):
Why would he move them? Yuku is on the roster, now,
why would he? Mccaffery's healthier.
Speaker 2 (20:39):
Now what?
Speaker 3 (20:40):
Okay, Okay, I'm gonna calm down because this is the
weak one.
Speaker 2 (20:43):
Okay.
Speaker 3 (20:44):
So it's not the Niners and it's not the Ravens.
Speaker 1 (20:47):
Nope, all right, last guests here, and then you have
to tell me too, because I get three guesses. My
last guess would be the team that almost beat the
Niners in the NFC title game. I would put the
Lions at number two.
Speaker 3 (20:58):
Yay, all right, so you have the line.
Speaker 1 (21:03):
So, by the way, that would be a Chiefs Lions
Super Bowl, which almost happened last year but still out loud.
That sounds kind of weird, right, a.
Speaker 2 (21:10):
Little crazy, but it would be It would definitely be
worth watching. Did you see Dan Campbell's new I think
it's Applebe's commercial. It exceeded the expectations. It was better
than I thought it was. So I'll go quicker here,
all right. Because of that, those two guesses quickly by me.
I would then put San Francisco at three in Baltimore four.
(21:31):
San Francisco. You are correct, Baltimore. He does not have
them at four. He does not have them in the
top five. Whoa, whoa? Okay, Okay, I gotta I disagree
on number four. I will tell you that.
Speaker 1 (21:46):
Okay, So now I'm getting little lost here. So Chiefs one, Lions, two,
Niners three, I don't know who four is. Baltimore is
not one of these teams remaining. We'll do one more
to Okay, we'll do one more guest here at four.
My last guest for there for four to be the Eagles.
Speaker 2 (21:59):
You are correct, all right? There you go.
Speaker 1 (22:01):
All right, So we got one more here at number five.
Who would be the fifth best team in the NFL. Okay,
we'll talk about it. Shocks me a little bit. We'll
talk this out loud a little bit. We could potentially
see the Bills there. We could see the Packers there,
we could see the Browns there. All teams who competed
in the postseason last year. I don't believe the Bills
are the best team in their division going into this season.
If you have Detroit at two, I'm gonna give the
(22:22):
benefit of the doubt to green Bay. So I'll go
green Bay at five. Green Bay is at six, So
Baltimore is at seven. Baltimore is at eight.
Speaker 3 (22:34):
Oh my gosh.
Speaker 1 (22:35):
So I mean I was between I was between green
Bay and Buffalo, and I had one other team there,
I'll go Buffalo is my final guess.
Speaker 2 (22:43):
Here, Buffalo is at nine.
Speaker 3 (22:48):
You gotta tell me I.
Speaker 2 (22:49):
Number five the Houston Texans.
Speaker 3 (22:52):
No, no, no, no, no.
Speaker 1 (22:56):
All right, so let's pause on the Texans there, here's
here's okay. I'm gonna give David Helman a little bit
of credit there. Do I think Houston is a top
five team in the NFL?
Speaker 2 (23:07):
No?
Speaker 3 (23:08):
Do I think they're top ten? Yes?
Speaker 1 (23:10):
The problem with the Houston Texans is that schedule is
absolutely brutal Houston, if they can get to ten wins, Seriously, look,
if they can get to ten and seven this season,
I will go and put money on them at Rivers
to win the Super Bowl. If they can get to
ten wins and get to the postseason with that record,
they will be one of the best teams in the
NFL and they can get to New Orleans and represent
the AFC. Because that's how tough that schedule.
Speaker 2 (23:32):
Is going to be for them.
Speaker 1 (23:33):
So they have the talent, are they the sexy pick
for some people. Absolutely, but I would hold off on
Houston record wise because there's a chance you look at
Houston schedule, they could be one in five by the
time October rolls around. So I'm not taking anything away
from the Texans, but that's gonna be hard for me
to believe they're gonna be a top five team come
Week four or five this season.
Speaker 2 (23:54):
Well that's what that's what Hellman believes, and we all
we we live and die by the Max. David help me, yeah,
oh yeah, yeah? All right? So number six Green Bay,
Number seven the Cincinnati Bengals.
Speaker 1 (24:07):
All right, let's stop there for the Bengals real quick.
You and I are anti Bengals this season. We both
think the Bengals are the most overrated team in the NFL.
I know, Chris Sims just picked the Bengals to win
and get to the Super Bowl. There are some people
who love if it's not Kansas City the next up
Cincinnati because Burrow did it before. Some would argue that
they should have done it a second time if the
(24:27):
officiating had gone a different direction. Cincinnati has Kansas City's number,
which I don't think you and I disagree with because
it's happened. The problem is we don't find the combination
to Cincinnati getting there. If we think Baltimore is gonna
be a really good team in the North, which you
both do, and if we just take away the way
you view the Cleveland Browns the franchise. I'll say this
(24:48):
five more times, probably before kickoff on Sunday and Thursday.
If Cleveland wasn't the Cleveland Browns and that name was
the Packers, the Niners, the Giants, people would be picking
the Browns doing the Super Bowl. But because they're the Browns,
they don't get the love. So that's the way I
have view Cincinnati. I just don't know how they're gonna
get there. I think you would echo a lot of
those similar points.
Speaker 2 (25:08):
Yeah, I'm not. I'm not. I'm not even close to
soul on Cincinnati. I don't. I don't see it. I
think most of the teams he has behind them, I
would take in front of them. That includes number eight,
the Baltimore Ravens, number nine, the Buffalo Bills, number ten,
the Cleveland Browns. I would I'm in on all those
before I'm on the Bungles.
Speaker 1 (25:29):
I would say the Browns, Bengals, and Bills all seem
like coin flips, and I feel like I'm almost being
too disrespectful for Cincinnati in that point, because Cincinnati dominated
Buffalo at times in the past, and I know that
famous Damar Hambling game is somewhat people point to them
the playoff game. Cleveland's right there too, also, Bills fans's
(25:49):
let's do something real awkward here. I was gonna save
this for the third hour. I think we should do
it right now because that's set up was nice for me.
It feels weird that Damar Hamlin might start as the
team's safety right like he was bare active in games
last season, and they never noted that it was a
health concern, like Bills fans.
Speaker 3 (26:04):
I know it's tomor Hamlin.
Speaker 1 (26:05):
I know it's an amazing story, and I'm not trying
to pooh pooh on Tamar Hamlin, but you isn't it
a little concerning that he's the starting secondary defensive back Now,
I mean saying health, I'm actually saying performance, not help.
Speaker 3 (26:18):
I'm saying like actual player.
Speaker 2 (26:19):
No, No, I'm I'm I'm with you. I'm look listen,
even health, I mean, you know, twenty two men stay
on the field, chill of Hans who's died before. I'm
gonna field. He's the only one with a hand up.
You know. It's it's I'm not you know. I know
it sounds like I'm being cute, but that's not that's
not nothing.
Speaker 1 (26:36):
I actually don't know if he's good like Buffalo, you
think you're gonna win a Super Bowl Tomar Hamlin, nobody's
better than Damar Hamlin.
Speaker 3 (26:42):
Nobody.
Speaker 1 (26:43):
Okay, i'd be a little nervous Buffalo if he's your
starting guy in your secondary Yeah.
Speaker 2 (26:47):
No, that's that's definitely. I think that's that's that's pretty valid.
All right. So New York teams, so we know, we
know that they've got Buffalo at nine.
Speaker 1 (26:54):
I'm gonna go fast here, all right, I'm gonna go
I believe the Jets are really close. I would put
the Jets at eleven.
Speaker 2 (26:59):
Thirteen thirteen for the Jets, says, the potential is so tantalizing.
Speaker 1 (27:05):
The thing with New York if their path sets up
this way, that they could win the AFC East. There
are some people I know NFL networks given them a
lot of love. Some NFL network analysts believe they can
win the division. Enters the top seed. Here's one thing
I gotta remind myself of Lavec and let's make this
so promise as we get throughout the week.
Speaker 3 (27:21):
Did the New York Jets win seven games last season?
Out loud? That sounded wrong right?
Speaker 2 (27:28):
Well? Their defense and.
Speaker 3 (27:29):
They won seven games last year with Zach Wilson as
their quarterback.
Speaker 1 (27:34):
Seven they went seven to ten with Zach. So is
Aaron Rodgers four games better? I actually think he might
be or a better way to probably have set that
up and phrase that how many games did Zach Wilson
cost the Jets least season? The fact that they won
seven games with what they trotted out a quarterback? I
need to remind myself. Do you know what I would
have had them higher? Would have even argued them to
(27:55):
be a top ten team because of that. So I
got the Jets at eleven even though they're thirteen. We
already the Bills and out of the Giants, I've kind
of been sent around the Giant spot in the same
spot all season. I would put them back at twenty eight,
and again, the teams below them I would have would
be the Patriots, the Panthers, and the Vikings. So I'd
go Vikings at twenty nine, Panthers at thirty, Patriots at
(28:18):
thirty one. Oh you know what Giants are twenty nine,
so that teams below them are the Patriots, the Panthers,
and the Vikings.
Speaker 2 (28:23):
Twenty nine is my guest for the Giants, you were
very close thirty one. He had n't been twenty nine
before he dropped them down to thirty one. Started the
preseason thinking that Daniel Jones would be the Giants quarterback
in twenty twenty five. And I'm not moving off my spot.
I think the hope in New York season is that
Milik Neighbors and the offensive line will grow into promising
(28:45):
pieces that can help the Giants next qbo oh, ouch about.
Speaker 3 (28:50):
Who's thirty two?
Speaker 2 (28:51):
Thirty two is the Carolina Panthers.
Speaker 1 (28:55):
You want to get a good laugh, go look at
the Carolina Panther twenty twenty draft. If you thought your
team's draft was banned in twenty twenty back, I know
your Raider team got dragged a few years ago for
one of Mayox.
Speaker 3 (29:06):
But Mayox had injuries and arrests and like there was.
Speaker 2 (29:08):
Something well, I mean, that's all part of it, though,
you know.
Speaker 1 (29:12):
The Panther one is just horrible players round one through seven.
And then the reason I brought that up is because
it went viral yesterday that that's the last player who
got cut from that draft.
Speaker 3 (29:23):
Nobody else is left on the roster.
Speaker 2 (29:26):
I will tell you this. My Raiders are at twenty nine.
He's uh. I'll keep saying it. Raiders overall roster pretty solid.
The issue is just that their QB room is one
of the worst in the NFL. And then your Tampa
Bay Buccaneers fifteen. I'm so conflicted about the OFC South,
so is everyone. I love.
Speaker 3 (29:46):
The Buccaneers said plus money right now to win the South.
That feels so good to me. Oh, I feels so good.
Speaker 2 (29:52):
You're not good.
Speaker 1 (29:53):
You're not gonna not a great sign when the coach
doesn't know what team they're playing week one. But I'll
get over that. So what if you call them the
R word instead of the commander?
Speaker 2 (30:00):
Oh my god? That was great, though, and he was in,
he was dialed in. He wasn't coming off of it,
committed to it.
Speaker 1 (30:06):
I don't think it's so much like he made that
mistake because he'd been coaching for so long. That part
didn't bother me as much as him not coming off
of it, okay, like standing strong like no, no, no,
I'm right about this one.
Speaker 2 (30:17):
Just yeah, it was. It was full confidence. There's no
no worries at all. He had this. Yeah he's well,
he's a different dude. He's definitely a different dude. But
I think that's like, yeah, there's Do you think that
at some point he realized it and was like no, no,
I'm gonna keep going just because I've already gone this far.
Or do you think he never quite got it?
Speaker 1 (30:38):
I don't, Boy, that's a tough question. I feel like
Todd Bowles hasn't shown that characteristic off in his career
of being super I'm not hopping off it, which is
why he found it a lot funnier, you know what.
Speaker 3 (30:50):
Yeah, I want to go with that.
Speaker 1 (30:51):
Maybe Todd Bowles has a little bit more comedy and
humor in him than I realized.
Speaker 2 (30:55):
Stubborn is too, like, you know what, I'm already deep
enough in. Let's just go. Let's just go forward, see
what happens. All right, there's your power rankings next to
Dave helm and guys. Never had the full mental breakdown
we were hoping for. There was he flirted with it
for a minute or two, but never quite got there.
So h maybe maybe next maybe week two, we can
get that out of him as we get games ready
to go. Don't forget tomorrow. We're gonna be live at
(31:17):
Mohawk Chevrolet tomorrow the start of the NFL season as
the Chiefs take on the Ravens. Very excited. Make sure
you good nights sleep here. I need Integrate Sleep Center
and balls. The SPA is how I make that happen.
It's how you can make that happen too. Doctor fred
Dreer is the man when it comes to you know,
dentistry and all that. He knows his deal. He's he's
(31:38):
there to help you. So what he did is he
went got the classification, did the studies. He is a
diplomat of dental sleep medicine. I have talked to dentists
and everyone else and all these other Oh I can
make you one of those mouthpieces. I get none. No, No,
you want somebody qualified. You want somebody who who's taking
the classes, who knows what they're talking about. That's why
(31:58):
you want doctor r and the team. The Integra Sleep
Center involves the spot, no hoses, no wires, no surgery.
It's a mouthpiece keeps your airway open. Your obstructive slap
sleep avenue. It's slap avenue. If she gets upset enough
sleep avenue, I mean stop staring. You don't need to
have that anymore. You can you can sleep quietly and
(32:19):
you can get good deep sleep. Five eight eight five
six eight eight five six. Doctor Fred Dreer and the
Integrative Sleep Center in Bolston spot help him sleep better.
They're gonna help you sleep better. To play the day
coming up next, you're right here a Fox Sports Radio
ninety five nine and nine eighty.
Speaker 1 (32:37):
It's low acing guzz on the voice of the Capitol
Regions sports fan Fox Sports ninety five, nine and nine eighty.
Speaker 2 (32:44):
Time for the play of the day. It's watching by
Mohawks Chevro Light supply of pricing going on right now
at Mohawks Chevy.
Speaker 3 (32:51):
Just off Extit twelve of the North Way.
Speaker 2 (32:53):
Together, let's drive at Mohawk Chevy where they always go
out of their way to please you guys. Yeah, you
go ahead.
Speaker 1 (33:01):
I have I have a question for you, and I
really want I don't want to a true, honest answer,
and you listening right now, I really want feedback on
the play of the day. At Tom Goes, tomgs Easy
at the Jefflevak at WOFX.
Speaker 3 (33:14):
You know what.
Speaker 1 (33:15):
You can even email me, although most of my emails
get very nasty. There's one hundred and forty characters or
two eighties not enough to insult us gooz at iHeartMedia
dot com. Do you like when we recap some of
our plays?
Speaker 2 (33:29):
Like?
Speaker 1 (33:29):
I feel like to keep us honest. We've talked about
this as a goal of twenty twenty four, to track
our picks that you know, if we don't tell you
what we've been wagering on. Like I liked the idea
we talked about our home run parlay. We like keeping
our records in fantasy versus Really, if you don't know
what's working and what's not working, there isn't as much
value to this segment. But I think us offering what's
hit for us and what has it is the right
way to do it. Some people might get bored by
(33:51):
that of like, oh, I don't want to hear what
you guys picked yesterday.
Speaker 3 (33:53):
I'm on it today.
Speaker 1 (33:54):
But I feel like we should continue to do some
of the recaps, not long, not two minute recaps.
Speaker 2 (34:00):
With some of it.
Speaker 3 (34:00):
Well that do you have a feeling about that.
Speaker 2 (34:02):
Either way. I think it depends whether or not his
entertaining recap. If it's an entertaining recap, then you take
it down.
Speaker 3 (34:08):
Well, let's do that, because that happened to me yesterday.
Speaker 2 (34:10):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (34:11):
Remember when I took the Phillies and I talked about
that wild, strange journey we were gonna take with that
Phillips pitcher, the Triple A kid who threw a complete
game shut out against the Guardians in July, then gave
up seventeen earned runs in his next three starts and
then got set back to Triple A.
Speaker 3 (34:25):
Remember that whole thing I did yesterday?
Speaker 2 (34:26):
Yeah, I remember.
Speaker 3 (34:27):
How do you think he fared yesterday?
Speaker 2 (34:29):
Not good?
Speaker 1 (34:30):
He went two outs into the first inning and was
pulled after he gave up eight hits, six earned runs,
and two home runs against the Blue Jays. That's right,
you better take the Phillies money line which hit which,
by the way, after the guy I told you it would
be the difference in the game was pulled before the
(34:50):
first inning ended after giving up two home runs and
six turned runs. Maybe never again. Thank you for the
Phillies scoring three in the ninth. That was a rollercoaster.
We went on yesterday and had finished. But let's never
get back on that ride again.
Speaker 3 (35:05):
Never again.
Speaker 1 (35:05):
Are we doing triple A shelled pitchers who gave up
close to twenty ironed runs for a wager not worth it,
but we cashed.
Speaker 2 (35:14):
I did not. I did not. I talked about this
during when we talk about Yankee smelting down. I thought
Wan Soto would finally hit a home run. He did not.
The Yankees were up four to one in the eighth
and they lost seven to four. So I did not.
I did not cash. I did not win. I didn't
feel good about it, not excited. I stayed up and
(35:35):
watched it. So there's that, just like what's sometimes that
happens in the play of the day.
Speaker 1 (35:41):
It's reverse therapy, Like the therapist hasn't asked sting right. Yeah,
they haven't asked us a question yet. We just sat
on the couch and started going. They don't even have
their notebook down. They're not judging us yet.
Speaker 2 (35:53):
But it is.
Speaker 3 (35:54):
It felt good. We need to both get that off
our yesterday.
Speaker 1 (35:57):
We've got NFL kickoff tomorrow, We've got jennfl Action this weekend.
We're not gonna hold some of our NFL picks the Sunday,
but offer up some on Friday, so it feels like
just Major League Baseball tonight, le back, unless you're firing
off a WNBA wager tonight.
Speaker 2 (36:12):
I'm not betting o't. I'm cleansing the palette for tomorrow
when the NFL season kicks off. That's what I'm doing
because I know what I like in tomorrow's game already.
I know what I want to do in tomorrow's game.
Is the Ravens take on the Chiefs. That is going
to be my play of the day tomorrow. I am
excited about it. I have not profited im betting baseball.
(36:35):
I have not profited im betting horses this year, even
though I've won two challenges. I'm not gonna do it anymore.
I'm done with it. It's pooh pooh. I don't like it,
and I'm not gonna do it. I have a friend
who's don't have any friends, I would say, a casual
baseball fan. His dad's an umpire, but he's a casual
baseball fan. His brother's a high school baseball coach. I
(36:56):
don't know if he can actually read per se like words.
I don't know how he's adapted, but he is hitting
baseball parlays like it is his job. So Darren, if
you're listening, please you have another five minutes of Texas
what you're feeling tonight because you're on a hot streak.
I didn't really mean that about you not being able
to read if you have a good play tonight, because
I'd like that. So no action on Sparks Fever tonight.
Speaker 1 (37:15):
You didn't want to fire off Caitlyn Clark versus the
seven and twenty five LA Sparks on CBS Sports Network.
Speaker 2 (37:21):
You think it's well, see what's the line? I mean?
You put it like that?
Speaker 3 (37:25):
Is it too early to flip?
Speaker 1 (37:26):
On the CBS Sports Network on Wednesday in September when
the Fever at eleven and a half point favorite, I.
Speaker 2 (37:33):
Would bet the fever before I put baseball today.
Speaker 3 (37:35):
Ooh you know what, that's a play?
Speaker 2 (37:38):
Well, I'm going to count that.
Speaker 3 (37:39):
No, I'm not gonnaccount it.
Speaker 1 (37:40):
Just I want to see if I could pressure you
into it with enough peer pressure, and I thought I
got there.
Speaker 2 (37:46):
No, it's just it's just I'm not I'm not doing well,
Like the definition of insanity, doing the same thing over
and over and expecting a different result. I am not
doing good at baseball? Why would I keep I was
doing okay for a while, everything was good, and then
it all the wheels came off a you know, Vac. Yeah,
you know what, give me, give me the give me,
(38:07):
uh the fever or minus eleven and a half?
Speaker 3 (38:09):
Yeah, is that not what I said? Oh, I'm sorry,
eleven minus eleven and a half?
Speaker 2 (38:13):
I might all right, yeah, go for it. Whatever, let's
do it.
Speaker 1 (38:17):
My favorite part of the play that is watching Levac's
thumbs places with our friends at Draft Kings, which will
tell you more about in a little bit. All right,
Levac usually does the pinstripe parlay. I'll put a little
twist on that tonight. I'm doing the former Yankee pinstripe
parlay tonight. I'm taking the Pittsburgh Pirates on the money
line and the Saint Louis Cardinals on the money line.
(38:39):
Why am I doing that? Because on the Mountain Night
for the Pittsburgh Pirates is Domingo Herman. He's on the
mound pitching, and on the mountain Night for the Saint
Louis Cardinals is Sonny Gray. So a X pinstrike parlay
just two money lines. Both of them are dogs tonight,
so the dogs might be barking tonight in baseball. Give
me Pirates and give me Cardinals money line. I'm gonna
(39:02):
get you a number on that because the number continues
to move.
Speaker 2 (39:04):
You want to know something sad about the world, hmm.
I would take her mom back before I would take
Sonny Gray back. And her mom was the way worst person.
Why because her mom pitched better for the Yankees. Like
Gray would be like, Oh, I have a really nice
person that I don't care about who pitches horribly every
sixth day. Her mom would be like, Man, I hate
(39:25):
that guy and I hope I hope he's arrested in
the Nazi distant future for something terrible. But until then,
give me six and two thirds, buddy.
Speaker 1 (39:34):
What if Sonny Gray pitched on the road out of
New York and her mom was at home? Can they
can be hime one person?
Speaker 2 (39:40):
It didn't. I don't think about it. I think something
great sucked everywhere. Well, yeah, I know that I went
to two different Yankee home games that Gray ended up
being the starting pitcher up. They bought my tickets far
off advancers. No, it wasn't like I was like, oh,
I'll go to see Sundying Great pitch those. Both of
those games the Yankees were down. I think one was
four nothing in the first inning. That went six nothing.
(40:01):
They would have both been six nothing in the first
inning both times. Sunny Gray, you have six runs each
time that I went and saw him pitch live at
the Yankee Stadium. So I will not I will not
welcome him back. I do not like him. I will
not eat green eggs at him. I will not eat them. Sam,
I am uh.
Speaker 1 (40:18):
He obviously hermon dealt with a ton of stuff you
referenced there a field. Yeah, like I have no sympathy
for how his career has gone because of the things
that have happened in his life. Yeah, Sonny Gray's been
really good after he left the inks, and he was
really good before. Plus four forty six tonight. If you
want to wager on that former Yankee Pinspray Parlay tonight
(40:38):
plus four forty six for both those teams money line.
Speaker 2 (40:40):
Yeah, great, go enjoy yourself. Jerks, hate you all, hate
you all. I should play today brought you by Mougs
Chevrol or that Alley's got out of the way to
please you.
Speaker 1 (40:48):
Not only can you continue to support our friends over
at Mohawks Chevrolet fire off some waiters tonight. But when
we hope you do that, we hope you do it.
