Time to check in and Wapa Canetta with Lindsay Young
from the Wapawk Chamber, and we turn to a new
month and plenty of things are happening, and then we
want to start by reminding folks that the Farmer's Market
is going to continue here through October and Wapa Canetta
every Saturday, right, Lindsay.

Yes, Every Saturday from eight thirty to twelve thirty at
the Courthouse parking lot. Stroll through the shops, grab a
bite to eat. They have lots of good stops out there.
Speaker 1 (00:32):
Will that goes through the rest of October then or
does it go farther than that?

Yes? Through October is perfect?
Speaker 1 (00:38):
Yeah, October, okay, all right? Also coming up Friday, it
is the first Friday of the month, as it so happens,
and that means first Friday downtown Wapawk. And we've got
a very October like theme for this time, don't we.
Speaker 2 (00:53):
Yeah, Yes, harvest Fest theme for the month. They have
a free pumpkin patch, pony rides, music, hay ride, face painting,
photo ops, food trucks. There's gonna be so much fun
for everyone downtown. And make sure you stop buy all
of our local stores. Do some shopping. They'll have some
fun fall themed things as well.

That's coming up Friday, first Friday, downtown Wapawk from five
until eight. And also on Friday at Friday Night Bingo
that's at the Wapawk Eagles. They do that every Friday, right.

Yes, every Friday, doors open at five. They have a
packed house, so always a fun.

Chamber Business after Hours for the Wapawk Chamber coming up
on Thursday, October sixteenth, Lindsay fill us in.

Yes, from five to seven. We're going to be at
the Side Rail and the Galloway on their back patio
behind their building. This event is co sponsored by Rains
Management Group and Binkley Real Estate. This is a great
time for Chamber members to come together and do some
casual networking. There'll be some light appetizers and.

Drinks and again that's coming up Thursday, October sixteenth, the
Wapawk Chamber business after hours and we get toward the
end of the month, of course, thanks get spooky and fun.
And Thursday October twenty third, there's a Halloween parade and
a costume contest in Wapawk, isn't there.

Yes, We kick off the day with the costume contest
at five thirty. That's sponsored by the YMCA Child Development Center.
Registration begins at five for that, and then our annual
Halloween Parade kicks off. It will begin at six thirty
sharp from the Always County Fairgrounds and that proceeds downtown
on Auglay Street all the way up to Park Street

right at the railroad tracks. We have one hundred and
twenty plus floats every year, marching bands, dance groups, special events,
all kinds of stuff in the parade. So it's definitely
a fan favorite, one of the largest in the region.

Does the Wapak Chamber have a float? We do.
Speaker 2 (03:20):
We go last in the parade and it's our Moonman.
It's our big giant inflatable moonman.
Speaker 1 (03:28):
Oh well, that's fun.

We'll even dress him up, so make sure you come
and see what he's dressed up at good deal.

That is the Halloween Parade and Wapawk October twenty third,
and then that weekend, on Saturday, the twenty fifth, there
is a Witches and Wizards Walk Halloween Bash. This sounds fun.
What's the deal?
Speaker 2 (03:51):
Yeah, Riverside Arts Center helps put on this event, and
there's music, food trucks, and they just kind of walk
around downtown and get drinks on the walking four and
then they end up like the end of the walk
at tit Backs and then there's like a little after
party and they have a lot more information on their
Facebook page Riverside Art Center.
Speaker 1 (04:11):
Okay, check that out. On the twenty fifth, Tuesday October
twenty eighth, the Armstrong Air and Space Museum gets in
on the fund with Boo on the Moon. What's going
on there?
Speaker 2 (04:22):
Yes, there will be candy and trees as visitors walk
through the galleries with eerie props into core. There's also
a quiet room for guests that need sensory support. Doors
open at five pm for that. On Tuesday, October twenty eighth,
Children twelve and under dressed in their costume will receive
half off admission.

Awesome. That's at the Armstrong Museum Tuesday, October twenty eighth,
that very same day, and then we get back to
more serious stuff workforce Development Seminar. This is important for
most businesses and you guys have a seminar to talk
about on Tuesday the twenty eighth. Give me some details.

Yeah, our quarterly Workforce Development Seminar is back this quarter.
This one is titled Grit Do you have what it
Takes to Lead? Valerie Nash from eight to one Consulting
will be back in Wapa Canetta bringing a new training
that we haven't seen from her yet. And there's two
sessions you can pick from nine to eleven thirty am
or two to four thirty pm, and that is at

the Wigwam on Blackhost Street. Great opportunity for you or
your employees to take it a little more leadership on.

Knowledge and that's happening on the twenty eighth, and then Thursday,
October thirtieth will be Trick or Treat in Wapa Canetta
and they are also having a trunk and treat at
one of the churches there too. Give me the rundown.
Speaker 2 (05:45):
Here, Yes, So Trick or Treat and wap Canetta is
from six to seven thirty and then we also have
the annual trunk and Treat at Harvest Baptist Church. They
have inflatables, music, food trucks. Everyone's welcome, so definitely a
fun evening of all things Halloween.
