From the WIMA Sports desk. The Reds jumped out to
a two to nothing lead in Los Angeles last night
over the Dodgers, but by the end of four LA
had a three to two lead. They then scored four
and the sixth inning off Nick Martinez and went on
to beat the Reds eight to four, sweeping their best
of three wild card series. The Reds loaded the bases
with nobody out in the sixth inning, but did not score.

(00:22):
They scored two in the eighth, but also left the
bases loaded. The Reds have not won a postseason series
since nineteen ninety five. After the game, Reds manager Terry
Francona said he was proud of the season the team
put together and the attitude the players showed.

Speaker 2 (00:37):
Every time you asked him to do something, they tried
to do it, which isn't always the case. They put
our ball club ahead of themselves and that always doesn't
happen either.

Speaker 1 (00:49):
Francona also said this Reds team never quit.

Speaker 2 (00:53):
We're not the finished product, but they competed like crazy,
and that's what we asked him to do. When things
didn't look very good. They kept competing even the last.

Speaker 1 (01:04):
Couple nights Finally, the Red Skipper talked about the takeaway
after a season ending loss.

Speaker 2 (01:10):
Everybody's hurting. Only one team could go home at the
end on their own terms. And it's not us this year.
You know, the season doesn't just wind down, it just
comes to a crashing halt.

Speaker 1 (01:24):
Mark your calendar is for opening day in Cincinnati. That'll
be March twenty sixth, when the Reds hosted the Boston

the Tigers six to one. The game was tied at
one and the eighth when Cleveland broke loose. Brian Rochio

that sets up today's deciding Game three. The Guardians used
six pitchers to hold the Tigers to one run. Detroit

has scored only three runs and the two games combined. Afterward,
Tribe manager Stephen Vode said both teams were hampered by
the bright sunshine yesterday afternoon in Cleveland.

Speaker 3 (02:19):
Those last couple of things was not easy to see,
and our guys jumped on melting pretty well and bow
with such an unbelievable bato off Herder and for us,
it was a frustrating day offensively for us.

Speaker 1 (02:31):
On the other side, Tigers manager A. J. Hinch says
they could not convert when they had opportunities.

Speaker 4 (02:37):
Yeah, I mean it was a tough day. I mean,
obviously it's they made the most of their opportunities and
we left fifteen guys on. So I think that you
know that paints the picture that it was today. I mean,
it was a hard fought game.

Speaker 1 (02:50):

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
