Speaker 1 (00:00):
From the WYMA Sports desk. The Reds and the Twins
had to battle mother and nature last night. The games
started about two hours late and then went only six innings,
and that was fine with the Reds. They prevailed four
to two. Spencer Steer hit a two run homer in
the bottom of the first to put the Reds ahead
for good. The Twins had struck first when Byron Buxton

(00:20):
took the first pitch of the game over the wall
off Nick Lodolo, but Lodolo went the rest of the way,
allowing only one more run to earn the victory. The
Reds one four in a row. They are now four
games over five hundred and thirty nine and thirty five.
After the game last night, Reds manager Terry Francona talked
about Lodolo's strong effort.

Speaker 2 (00:40):
Other than the first pitch of the game, he was
really good. You know, you're trying to get ahad of
the fastball and we've seen Buxton do that before.

Speaker 3 (00:47):
But after that, man, he was good.

Speaker 1 (00:49):
The Reds skipper also talked about the Reds moving up
in the standings, now tied for second in the NL
Central six and a half games behind the Cubs and
just a half game out of the final wild card
spot behind the Padres.

Speaker 3 (01:03):
I don't know. It's fluid. It always as fluid.

Speaker 2 (01:06):
Somebody is gonna be hot, somebody's not it.

Speaker 3 (01:09):
It's always, it's just fluid.

Speaker 1 (01:12):
The Reds will look to stay hot and run their
winning streak to five this afternoon as they try to
sweep the Twins. Twelve forty is game time. Nick Martinez
goes for the Reds of Chris Paddock for it Minnesota.
As for the Guardians, they beat the Giants again in
San Francisco, this time four to two. Daniel Schneeman had
a three run home run of the fourth inning to
key the victory. Afterward, manager Stephen Vogue talked about Shneman's power.

Speaker 3 (01:36):
We saw it, you know, We've seen it over the
last year and a half.

Speaker 4 (01:39):
She's got opposite field power, and man, he's just been
such a big spotlight on this team this year, going
from starting the year as the utility guy. Through the
course of the year, things happen, and now he's playing
a great second base. He's still one of our best
outfielders defensively and has really been a big spark plug
with the bat and really in the middle of that

(01:59):
lineup has been pretty stable for us. So she's a
really good ballplayer and he's showing it.

Speaker 1 (02:04):
The Guards look to complete the sweep of the g
Men today at four five, they send out Gaffin Williams
against the Giants' Logan Web. The Tigers and Pirates were
rained out in Detroit. They'll make it up as a
double header today. Same thing happened to the Locos. They
were rained out at home last night. But the Hamilton
Joe's they'll make that game up today as a double header,
but not in Lima, but rather in Hamilton. Locos are

(02:27):
off to a seven and two start, despite the loss
to the Joe's Tuesday night. In that game, pitcher Landon
Vandergrift pitched two innings of shutout baseball, allowing just one
hit and striking out six. Locos head coach Chad Urnsberger
says they hope to see more of that from the
right hander.

Speaker 5 (02:43):
Well, I hope, so, you know, that's what we kind
of expected coming into the summer. You know, he struggled
his first outing against Flag City, and that's how we
wanted to make sure get got him in there again
today to see how he would react, and I mean,
obviously he showed that that he can do well when
given chance, So you know, hopefully you'll get conference from
that and be ready to.

Speaker 3 (03:03):
Go next time again.

Speaker 1 (03:04):
The Locals are at Hamilton tonight for a doubleheader to
make up last night's rain out. Tough ending for Shawnee
grad Logan Maxwell and the Arkansas Razorbacks at the College
World Series last night. After Arkansas scored two in the
eighth and also scored two of the ninth, they saw
the Tigers score one of the eighth and three in

(03:25):
the ninth for a walk off, six to five victory
that eliminated Arkansas. Maxwell had two hits in the game
and went thirteen for thirty three in the tournament with
three home runs. LSU will take on Coastal Carolina and
the best of three final beginning Saturday. The Chanticleers beat
Louisville eleven to three to advance to their second ever

(03:46):
championship series. They won the World Series back in twenty sixteen,
and the NBA Finals could end tonight. It's Oklahoma City.
With the three games to two lead at Indiana. The
Pacers star Tivere Halliburton has been dealing with a lower
leg injury that's hampered his performance, but Halliburton says he
will play tonight.

Speaker 6 (04:07):
Well, I think it depends on who you ask. I mean,
you're asking me, so, uh, I think I have to
be as smart as I as I want to be.
You have to understand the risks asked the right since.
But I'm a competitor. I want to play. I'm gonna
do everything in my power to play, and uh, that's
just what it is. But I mean, I think I
think the answer to that is depending on who you ask.

Speaker 1 (04:24):
Again, it's the Pacers and the Thunder tonight. Okay, c
looking to close it out with eleven fifty Wima Sports.
