Speaker 1 (00:00):
The City of Lima is seeking citizens input as they
look to improve traffic safety in the city. The city
has launched its new Neighborhood Traffic Management program. It will
address concerns about speeding and cut through traffic in residential neighborhoods.
The program will develop a transparent, data driven approach to
manage traffic speeds and volumes, improve safety, and ensure safe

(00:24):
streets in Lima's neighborhoods. There will be a workshop Thursday
at Lacknip fourteen to forty West Spring Street where residents
can share specific location based concerns and explore various traffic
calming strategies such as speed humps, traffic circles, curb extensions,
and more. Also, residents are encouraged to complete an online

(00:44):
survey that will run through June ninth. For more information,
go to Lima, Ohio dot gov. Allen County has a
new conversation piece and tourist attraction right in front of
the Allen County Fairgrounds. It's a giant wooden sculpture of
the fairs mascot mauur Ree. It was done by Bear
Hollow wood carvers who perform with the fair each year.

(01:06):
Allen County Fair manager Troy el were talked about how
the project came together.

Speaker 2 (01:11):
They brought in a crew of fourteen carvers from all
across the country to accomplish this project in basically an
eight day window. Where it all kind of started as
I'd met with Visit Greater Lima quite a few times
and we were trying to brainstorm some ideas of how
we could really drive more tourism to Lima, Allen County
and help bring dollars into the community and the businesses

(01:33):
that surround us, but also find a cool, fun celebratory
piece for our one hundred and seventy fifth anniversary. So
that's how we came up with this sculpture project. We
saw what Nelson the Bigfoot over in Mercer County has
done for their fair grounds and their economy, so we
kind of tried to emulate that but put our own

(01:53):
unique twist on it with having our mascot be the sculpture.
So we're very grateful that Visit Greater Lima stepped up
and they were the funder behind this project to make
it all possible, and I believe that was through some
sort of grant program.

Speaker 1 (02:08):
Elwre says Many people have already stopped to get their
picture taken with the giant sculpture of MoU Reice. That
will become easier soon, as Elware says they plan to
build a sidewalk around the sculpture. Governor Mike Dwine says
Ohio's sales tax holiday will be two full weeks this year.
It begins at midnight Friday, August first and ends at

(02:29):
eleven fifty nine pm on Thursday, August fourteenth. Last year,
the sales tax holiday was expanded to include more items
and run for a longer period of time. Instead of
the usual three days, it lasted ten and included a
wider range of items up to five hundred dollars before
it was limited to school supplies. The tax exemption will

(02:50):
not apply to services or to motor vehicles, watercraft, outboard motors, alcohol,
tobacco vapor products, or any marijuana items. Ohio has filed
a request with the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio to
adjust its base rates. The and n's Tracy Townsend has more.

Speaker 3 (03:08):
This could increase your monthly bill by about three dollars
and ninety five cents a month. That base rate covers
maintaining equipment like wires and substations. This is separate from
a different rate increase that's now in effect. Aap OHIO
says it expects an increase of about twenty seven dollars.
This is set to be in place now through May
of twenty twenty six. Here's how to lower your bill,

(03:30):
according to experts. They say you can install smart thermostats
to reduce energy use when you're not at home. Also
improve your home insulation to seal any drafts that you
might have and help keep your home at a more
consistent temperature.

Speaker 1 (03:43):
That's the one n's Tracy Townsend reporting, and the Egyptian
man living in the United States illegally has been accused
of attacking and injuring at least twelve pro Israel protesters
in Boulder, Colorado. Sunday, Fox's David Spunt has more about
the Trump administration's response to the attack.

Speaker 4 (04:01):
Secretary of State Marco Rubio out with a new statement
on social media. He says, in light of the horrific attack,
all terrorists, they're family members, and terrorist sympathizers here on
a visa should know that under the Trump administration, we
will find you, revoke your visa and deport you. Now,
this suspect in Colorado is not the first, in unfortunately
likely not the last to attack the Jewish community. The

(04:23):
suspect happened to be here. I legally came to the
US during the Biden administration.

Speaker 1 (04:28):
That's Fox's David Spunt reporting. The suspect reportedly yelled free
Palestine during the attack. He faces hate crime and attempted
murderer charges. For the latest news at the top end
