Speaker 1 (00:00):
Ohio House Republicans will attempt to override Governor Mike Dwin's
property tax vetos in the latest budget. It's expected to
be a close vote when the House reconvenes on Monday.
The Wind's vetos included lifting restrictions on school levees and
changes to school funding calculations. House Speaker Limozone Matt Huffman
talked about the changes they proposed to levy language.

Speaker 2 (00:24):
And they'll start talking about the kind of levee that's on,
and they may even say no new money, no new tax,
and you say, well why, And they use words like
replacement levees, fix, some emergency levees, substitute levees. And most
people response to that is I wonder what that means.

(00:46):
But I want to help the school, I want to
help the parks. I guess I'm going to vote for it.
Sometimes they don't, of course, but essentially we have said, look,
you're not going to be able to call it something different.
What you're going to do is we're going to explain
on the ballot what this is. You're going to vote,
and if your house is worth one hundred thousand dollars,

(01:07):
this is how much it's going to cost for this
long and we're not going to have a whole lot
of different names.

Speaker 1 (01:14):
The House will be back in session Monday to attempt
to override some of the Governor's vetos. The Ohio Chamber
of Commerce, which represents more than eight thousand businesses of
every size, industry and region across Ohio, is urging the
General Assembly to override the governor's vetos concerning property tax changes.
The Chamber says the provisions and the budget quote put

(01:35):
guardrails around a property tax system that's growing increasingly out
of control end quote. Yesterday, in Allen County Court, twenty
four year old Jacob Striff from Perry Township pleaded guilty
to involuntary manslaughter for the shooting death of his brother,
forty one year old Jeffrey Paxton back in September. WLIO

(01:55):
reports that is part of a plea agreement, the murder
charge and other related argerism were dropped. They also report
the Paxton family objected to the plea deal and wanted
Strift to face the original murder charge. Strift will be
sentenced in September. He faces a maximum sentence of fourteen
years in prison. Changes are coming to the Ohio Bureau

(02:16):
of Motor Vehicles you can guess the changes. I Heart
Radio's Carmen Angelo explains.

Speaker 3 (02:23):
Ohio drivers are set to see an increase in certain
fees at their local Bureaus of Motor Vehicles come in
the beginning of twenty twenty six. Standard service fees for
things such as driver's licenses will see an increase from
five to eight dollars. In January, registration renewals will jump
five dollars, while title fees will increase three bucks. On
top of that, county statewide will have an option to

(02:44):
pin an additional five dollar fee on vehicle titles. I'm
Carmon Angelo.

confrontation on the Robling Suspension Bridge last night. Police in Covington,

That's the own nz Jar and Allen reporting. Dozens of
police officers responded to that disturbance yesterday. Meanwhile, in Washington,
a bill that claws back about nine billion dollars in
spending has moved on to the White House after the
House voted to sixteen two thirteen to pass it last night.
Fox's Mettel one Rovera has more from Washington.

Speaker 5 (03:42):
The bill passed largely along party lines. Two House Republicans
voted against it, Representatives Mike Turner from Ohio and Brian
Fitzpatrick from Pennsylvania. The bill claus backed money more than
one billion dollars in public broadcasting, one hundred and thirty
five million dollars for the World Health Organization, and mill
it's more from other programs like climate initiatives abroad. The

(04:03):
bill formalizes some of the cuts that Doge made earlier
this year. Democrats, though, argue the bill threatens lives around
the world cutting for an AID. They also say it
amounts to a geopolitical win for China and Russia, which
they say will fill the void.

Speaker 1 (04:17):
That's Fox's medal and Rivera reporting, and a Delta Airlines
flight from Omaha to Detroit landed about three hours late
last night. That's because a passenger tried to open an
exit road door during the flight and they had to
make an emergency landing in Cedar Rapids. That passenger was
arrested in Iowa and the flight resumed. No name has
