Speaker 1 (00:00):
The Ohio House will convene today attempting to override Governor
diwines vetos of provisions and the state budget that would
have made changes to property taxes in Ohio. One of
the provisions vetoed by the governor would have empowered county
budget commissions made up of the auditor, treasurer, and prosecutor,
to claw back taxes collected above the original amount requested.

(00:22):
Ohio House Speaker Lima's own Matt Huffman, explained the provision.

Speaker 2 (00:26):
What often happens is the school district will say we
need five million dollars. The levy is passed, and because
of valuations and requirements the state puts on, they collect
ten million dollars. Well, that's not what the taxes were
that you were supposed to be taking away from those
property tax owners. So that this basically gives more power

(00:49):
to your local budget commission to say, hey, wait a minute, school,
you're not going to get the ten million. You're only
going to get the five million. Or they make their
case things change, Okay, you only get seven million. So again,
this isn't the state swooping in and saying you don't
get the money. It's your local elected officials.

Speaker 1 (01:05):
The House will vote to override the veto on that
particular line item and two others later today. Meanwhile, a
newly uncovered EPA letter is raising serious questions about the
agency's response to the East Palestine train derailment. The letter,
obtained by a government watchdog group, reveals the EPA allowed
Norfolk Southern to remove key chemicals from its soil testing plan,

(01:28):
potentially hiding the true scope of toxic contamination. Earlier this year,
East Palestine and Norfolk Southern agreed to a twenty two
million dollar settlement over the February twenty twenty three derailment.
A New York City pawn shop owner has pled guilty
to selling stolen goods belonging to Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow.
We get this report from NBC News Radio's Rob Martyr.

Speaker 3 (01:51):
Dmitri Nashinski admitted to fencing the items once owned by
Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow. Authority say the forty three year
old was running a black mark pipeline. Burrow had about
three hundred thousand dollars worth of bling and possessions stolen
when his home was burglarized while on a road game
last season.

Speaker 1 (02:08):
I'm Rob Bartier, a Cincinnati man, is facing federal charges,
with prosecutors saying he threatened ICE agents. Authorities say Anthony
Kelly posted threats online via his Blue Sky social media account.
They say that Kelly has been arrested and such threats
will not be tolerated. Alaska Airlines has resumed operations after

(02:30):
requesting ground stops for all flights. Alaska requested the ground
stop late last night due to what was called an
IT outage. The move impacted more than two hundred planes.
Horizon Air, the regional subsidiary operating Alaska Airline flights, requested
a ground stop as well that has now been lifted.
The Director of National Intelligence Tulsea Gabbard says Obama administration

(02:53):
officials falsified evidence about President Trump's alleged to twenty sixteen
campaign connections to Russia, Fox's Medal and Rivera reports dn I.

Speaker 4 (03:03):
Telsea Gabert says these declassified documents show intelligence officials consistently
stated that Russia is probably not trying nor have the
capability to influence the election by using cyber means. She
cites a gathering among Obama intelligence officials on December ninth,
twenty sixteen. As a turning point. After that meeting, former
D and I James Clapper's executive assistants send an email

(03:25):
to intelligence leaders tasking them to create a new assessment
about the tools Moscow used to influence the twenty sixteen election.
But Democrats say Gabert is conflating hacking and influencing. They
say intelligence, including a bipartisan twenty twenty Senate Intelligence Committee report,
have reaffirmed Russia had a favorite in its influence operations.

Speaker 1 (03:45):
President Trump, that's Fox's medal, and Rivera reporting folks are
starting to get into the back to school mode already.
In fact, a new survey from the National Retail Federation
finds that two thirds of consumers have already started hitting stores.
That's from fifty five percent last year. The National Retail
Federation predicts Americans will spend more than one hundred and

(04:06):
twenty eight billion dollars this year on back to school shopping.
And the National Weather Service is investigating a possible tornado
in Shelby County Saturday night. A funnel cloud that was
reported near Anna may have also touched it down and
damaged to cornfields. According to the Shelby County EMA for
