Speaker 1 (00:06):
Hey, welcome into the bonus chapter. I've listed Donavan.

Speaker 2 (00:09):
I'm here with producer Riley, and this is this Saturday
edition where we just chat about stuff that we're doing,
stuff that we like, books for reading.

Speaker 1 (00:16):
All that kind of stuff, right, Riley.

Speaker 3 (00:18):
Yeah, we just talked about whatever's going on. So the
other day, behind the scenes of the show, you were
telling this story that we didn't have time to quite
get into, and I want to hear more. So it's
about j Low, So tell me the story least.

Speaker 1 (00:30):
Okay.

Speaker 2 (00:31):
Yeah, So we were having a convo off the air
and I had the opportunity to interview Jennifer Lopez. She
was doing a Netflix movie called The Mother. I don't
know if you saw.

Speaker 3 (00:46):
It, I've heard of it.

Speaker 1 (00:48):
It was very good.

Speaker 2 (00:49):
So Netflix had a few people from iHeart sit down
with j Lo at this beautiful boutique hotel. So I
was able to go down to New York and I
did the Billy and Lisa show from the Z one
hundred studios there for two days, and then the press
junket for The Mother was also sort of taking place

(01:11):
at the same time, so I have two different stories
to tell about those trips. So meeting j Loo was
an amazing experience. I have to tell you, she is
more beautiful in person. She's extremely professional. I loved sort
of being a fly on the wall of how Netflix

(01:34):
does all of their press junkets because Jlo has a
huge team around her and she's got a bunch of
makeup people here people, she has someone that sits in
the chair just to check if.

Speaker 1 (01:47):
The lighting is okay.

Speaker 3 (01:49):
Interesting.

Speaker 2 (01:50):
Yeah, so she has like a huge team. And I
remember her telling us during the interview that that's something
that you need to have, like if you want to
go row your career, grow your business, like, you have
to have people around you that can help you. You can't
do it all yourself. So that was like a really
good piece of advice.

Speaker 3 (02:08):
Yeah, it must have been interesting for you to see
that from your PR side too, Totally.

Speaker 1 (02:16):
I just yeah, it was.

Speaker 2 (02:17):
It was an incredible experience, and again, she was just
amazing and beautiful. But I shared with you something that
I don't think I even shared on the Morning Show
because I was so embarrassed. But I'm going to tell you, guys.
I traveled to New York so and I checked into
my hotel and I got up for the Morning show

(02:40):
So I was up at like three o'clock in the
morning because I didn't know where the Z one hundred
studios were. I didn't know how long it was going
to take me to get there, and I was like
a little nervous about the j LO interview that was
happening literally at ten fifteen. So I hopped off the
air at like nine forty five, and then I walked
to the hotel that they were having the interview scheduled.
And when I opened up my travel suitcase that morning,

(03:05):
I noticed that I did not I forgot to pack
my deodorant.

Speaker 3 (03:09):
Nightmare.

Speaker 2 (03:09):
Nightmare because it was three o'clock in the morning and
nothing was open, Like what are you going to have?
Like you know, Dwayne Reid's and stuff like that. But
I have to tell you, I couldn't find one. Like
I was on my phone looking to see if there
was like a twenty four hour CBS or something open
where I could just run before I went to the
studio on Dust show anything. So I was wearing this

(03:30):
black silk blouse and I got to the Z one
hundred studios and they put me in a tiny little
podcast studio like we have here, Yeah, okay, which is
like kind of what we're in right now. And for
some reason, when you're there before five am or actually
I think it's six am, they had it on a governor,

(03:52):
so it was you couldn't turn the air conditioning on.
And this was like May, so it was springtime in
New York, so it was actually pretty warm when I
was down there, it was lovely. So I get into
this tiny little studio and I'm literally sweating because the
heat was on like ninety Okay, So I had the
engineer come down, like our John mulaney. Yeah, and he

(04:15):
couldn't have been nicer. He was like, I don't know
what to tell you. I cannot get the air conditioning
to go on. And I didn't want to tell him.
I said, he goes, yeah, he goes, it's really hot
in here. And plus, mind you, I had to jump
off the air and run to the hotel to do
the interview, so I had no time to do my hair,
I had no time to do my makeup. So I
had done it at the hotel the best I could

(04:36):
for myself. Okay, So I went into the bathroom because
I'm like, the worst thing that can happen is I
go to the j Loo interview.

Speaker 1 (04:43):
And I smell like because I'm.

Speaker 4 (04:46):
Sweating, like literally sweating, and I have a silk shirt on.
If you're a woman, you know, silk doesn't really breathe
at all.

Speaker 1 (04:54):
So I go into the.

Speaker 4 (04:55):
Bathroom and I take like toilet paper and I just
sort of like start shoving it underneath.

Speaker 1 (05:01):
My arm pad.

Speaker 4 (05:04):
And every talk break that we every like a commercial
break we had in Boston, I would run back into
the bathroom change out the freaking toilet paper. And I
did it for four hours so it would not like
get on my blacks. Okay, I was mortified, like there
was nothing I could do. No, I didn't you know,

(05:25):
Gandhi was there. She was great, but I wasn't gonna
tell Gandhi like, oh my god, I'm sweating, and like,
you know, I was just I was so freaked out,
and I was so nervous about the JLO interview.

Speaker 1 (05:36):
So I ended up getting to the hotel. I don't
think I smelled.

Speaker 2 (05:41):
I don't.

Speaker 4 (05:41):
I really don't think I looked great because I literally
have been sweating for four hours, so all the makeup
that I put on was basically like melted off. Yeah,
So when I look at the pictures that I posted.
You know, I guess they looked okay, but no one
has ever heard that story.

Speaker 3 (05:58):
In your head. You're looking at those photos going, I
probably smelled.

Speaker 2 (06:01):
Next to j Low, but thank god, ironically I did not,
because the tissues and the toilet paper totally worse. Saved you.
So if you're in that predicament, I'm just telling you
do it because it's.

Speaker 1 (06:12):
Saved my life.

Speaker 2 (06:14):
It is such one of those most embarrassing stories, right
that you'll never not forget about that experience.

Speaker 3 (06:22):
The fact that you've never told that story before. It's
so funny too, but it's like, what are.

Speaker 2 (06:27):
The odds that I forget my deodorant? It's three o'clock
in the morning, I can't buy any and I've got
this huge celebrity that I'm interviewing, right.

Speaker 3 (06:36):
And Jlo probably smells so good. She smelled great. You're like, hey,
can I borrow your perfume?

Speaker 1 (06:43):
Jlo?

Speaker 2 (06:44):
It was it was honestly like I felt like I
was just floating up in the sky the whole time
that I was like, I can't believe this is happening
to me. So that's the story that I never told.
But yeah, it's it's crazy.

Speaker 3 (06:58):
Don't forget your deodorant is the whorl of this story.

Speaker 2 (07:01):
Your bag exactly if you're if you're going somewhere and
you know you're gonna be up early. But I found
it surprising that I had looked to see if I
could have my hair and makeup done at the hotel.
But even in New York, no one would come to
my hotel at three o'clock in the morning.

Speaker 3 (07:17):
That's weird because that's the city that never sleeps.

Speaker 1 (07:19):
That's what I saw. Couldn't find anyone.

Speaker 3 (07:21):
Yeah, that's weird. Yeah, you're like, hey, j Lo's team,
can you just give me a little powder?

Speaker 2 (07:25):
So she she had like six makeup people with and
they had the pouch oh.

Speaker 3 (07:30):
My god, yeah, the fanny pack.

Speaker 2 (07:31):
Yeah, I got the brushes, and like she's getting dabbed,
and I'm just like deer in the headlights staring at her, like,
oh my god, she must think I'm just this whatever.

Speaker 3 (07:42):
Club from Boston.

Speaker 1 (07:45):
God, it was so bad. Anyway, that's so fair.

Speaker 2 (07:49):
Can I have the sprits of your perfume or just
like anything is really it was memorable.

Speaker 3 (07:55):
Are you a perfume girl?

Speaker 1 (07:56):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (07:56):
I wear I wear Trish McAvoy. That are her signature
scent Trish. Trish macavoy is a makeup artist. Oh okay,
and she has a beautiful line of makeup, and then
she has some sense they're actually really nice. I've worn
it for years because I can't find anything else that
I like. I buy all these other ones and I'm like,
I don't really like that after you like smell it
on yourself.

Speaker 3 (08:14):
After a while, I went through a perfume phase where
I was like, I'm gonna find like a signature scent
and like I don't.

Speaker 2 (08:21):
Have you made a signature set. No, there's a place
on a Newberry Street that you can make your own.

Speaker 3 (08:25):
I want to do that. I think I know what
you're talking about. It forget what it's called, but like, yes,
I feel like my issue with sense is that if
they're I want them. I want to be able to
be smelled right, but I don't want it like giving
me a headache.

Speaker 2 (08:39):
Well, you should try like an essential oil, like an
oil based perfume, because then it's just it kind of
seeps into your skin better, I think, and it just
gives you an overall essence of a smell rather than
overpowering someone.

Speaker 3 (08:52):
Okay, okay, Yeah. I like the idea of being like,
if somebody's close to me they're like, you smell nice.
I'm like, thank you, But like I don't want it
to be like, oh, I'm sitting in a cloud, right.

Speaker 1 (09:03):
It walks into the room before you.

Speaker 3 (09:04):
Yeah, I know some people like that, but I don't
you always smell good? Oh?

Speaker 2 (09:07):
Thanks?

Speaker 1 (09:08):
What's Trisha? Trish macab good to know.

Speaker 2 (09:10):
So now that we're talking about sense and makeup and
all that stuff, you know, MRSA Meltzer, we just put
that on our podcast. At least's book called podcast on Thursday,
I talk with MRSA Meltzer. But her book was about
Emily Weiss, who was the CEO and founder of Glossier,
and I remember we were talking about my favorite lip
color at Glossier is Pony. Yes, and you have to

(09:31):
get Pony.

Speaker 3 (09:32):
I tried to get it at Saphora and they didn't
have it. So now I'm like, I have to order
it online.

Speaker 1 (09:36):
Well, there's a Glossier store on Newberry Street.

Speaker 3 (09:39):
I never go, So you go that way, then I
could sometimes and then I could get the perfume right there.
We go.

Speaker 1 (09:44):
Yeah, we'll make a day out of it. We'll have lunch.

Speaker 3 (09:46):
I'm done.

Speaker 1 (09:46):
Yeah, Glossier Pony good good color.

Speaker 3 (09:50):
She said that that's the color that looks like the
best on everybody, right, wasn't that her advice?

Speaker 1 (09:54):
Absolutely? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (09:55):
And there Yeah, and their lip colors really do last too,
so I would definitely check that out. And then we
were talking about lip plumpers. I asked you if you
ever used a lip plumper, I.

Speaker 3 (10:04):
Said, I'm too nervous.

Speaker 1 (10:06):
Well, it makes your lips tingle.

Speaker 3 (10:08):
Yeah, that's like. But I've seen people like on TikTok
and stuff who like put them on and then it's
like the way that their mouth like swells up. And
I know that that's the point, but I don't want
that to happen to me.

Speaker 2 (10:21):
Well, it's basically like if your lips were stung by
a bee, kind of like that's the kind of.

Speaker 3 (10:27):
Feeling that you're looking for. The Kylie, the Kylie look.

Speaker 2 (10:31):
I've used Buxom that brand and they saw it at Sephora.

Speaker 1 (10:35):
Okay, it's good. It definitely like the tinglely lips thing.

Speaker 3 (10:39):
But how long does it last? The tingle.

Speaker 2 (10:43):
Not too long? It's that bad. And it does it does?

Speaker 3 (10:47):
It does work. It does work. Plumps them up.

Speaker 2 (10:49):
Yeah, and they have like nice sort of very sheer,
pinky shades that I think i'd like too. Yeah, so
you may want to check it out.

Speaker 3 (10:58):
Okay, do you shop mainly?

Speaker 2 (11:01):
I do all Tie do Sephora, any I you know Lassier,
I'll go to the makeup counter at you know wherever sacks.

Speaker 3 (11:11):
What's like a makeup product that you like, can't live without?
Because mine's mascara. I love mascara.

Speaker 2 (11:16):
Well, I get my lashes done. Okay, yeah, lash lamar
and give them a shout out. Jamie, by the way,
who's amazing. So I don't use mascara, Okay, I just
wake up and go Yeah. You do you do like
eyeshadow every day?

Speaker 1 (11:28):
Or I do?

Speaker 2 (11:29):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (11:29):
I usually use what do I use?

Speaker 3 (11:33):
Use?

Speaker 2 (11:33):
Trish macavoy. Nars is great? Is that's a great line?

Speaker 3 (11:37):
Yeah? I Nars. I feel like you're getting what you
pay for.

Speaker 1 (11:40):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (11:41):
Like it's a really good brand. Yeah, I feel like that.
In like chapstick slash like lip gloss I can't live without.
I always have something on my lips.

Speaker 2 (11:49):
Oh I've got If you looked at my purse, I
probably have five or six lip glosses at the bottom
of my bag.

Speaker 1 (11:56):
Just at all times, I am ready to go.

Speaker 3 (11:59):
Yeah, if there's an emmergent agency you have you don't
have deodorant, but you have a million of glosses.

Speaker 1 (12:05):
Hey.

Speaker 2 (12:05):
If you want to learn more, Hey, if you want
to learn everything about Glossier, what happened with Emily Weiss
as a founder and CEO, then you need to check
out my podcast because I sat down with Marissa Meltzer,
who wrote the book Glossy, which is the book about
Emily Weiss.

Speaker 1 (12:19):
Check it out.

Speaker 2 (12:19):
And next week we have Charlotte Mane the God. We
