(01:20):
by one o'clock today to qualify. So yes, kat Klower.
I think one of the important things to let people
know is that this is a very important month for hearing.
It is Audiology Awareness Month.
Speaker 2 (01:33):
Yes, pol October is National Audiology Awareness Month, and it's
just basic is to remind the public how important hearing
is to our overall health. Making appointment, getting your hearing
checked is one of the most important aspects we can
do for our health. Keeping our hearing at a normal level,
(01:58):
either having it be normal or treating it to get
it to that normal level, connects us to people and
it keeps us vital in the workplace and as we age.
When it's left untreated, it's associated with other health issues.
So it's an important thing to address, and unfortunately a
lot of family physicians don't bring this up when we
(02:21):
go to our other regular checkups. You know, we typically
get our teeth cleaned regularly, we get those eye exams,
we go to our family position to have our cholesterol checked,
et cetera, et cetera. But that key another key piece
of aging healthfully is to get our hearing checked on
a regular basis. And it's recommended that we get that
(02:44):
baseline at age forty instead of age seventy. Okay, we
need to go a little earlier and get that baseline
and to monitor it because it's always better to treat
sooner as opposed to later. And the difficult thing with
hearing loss is that it is hard to self diagnose.
(03:06):
I wish I could take these conversations, but I hear
weekly in my office of people who have hearing devices
now have treated their loss, and how they say, you know,
when I came in, I really didn't think I was
having that much of a problem or that my hearing
wasn't that bad. But now that I got, you know,
(03:26):
hearing devices, I wish I would have done this sooner.
And it's just a hard thing to detect yourself. So
getting that baseline will really help. And here's just some
numbers to throw out for our awareness month. Nearly twenty
nine million adults in the US could benefit from hearing devices,
(03:49):
So we just really need to capture some of those
people because it's not something that people think of as
part of their overall healthcare and it's important to remember
that hearing loss is associated with social isolation, depression, cognitive decline,
(04:11):
and other negative outcomes, and it really adversely affects one's
quality of life. So we really need to get out
there get that baseline. And I think another big thing
that is driving this awareness on treating hearing loss is
(04:34):
after about twenty and seventeen, they've identified a number of
modifiable risk factors for dementia, and the number one modifiable
risk factor in the United States is treating our hearing loss.
But we have to remember it's important to treat that
hearing loss more in our mid life because we know
(04:58):
that dementia typically starts many years before it's recognized, and
untreated hearing loss can impact our brain and cognitive health.
So you know, when we think of brain health, at least,
you know, me taking away the hearing aspect, I always think, oh,
(05:19):
you know, we need to keep a healthy weight, we
need to eat good foods, we need to exercise. But
what's being overlooked is that we need to have our
hearing at a more normal level to improve our cognitive health.
And it's so easy to do. At concept. We offer
(05:39):
those complementary evaluations and with it being Audiology Awareness Month,
it's time to pick up the phone and give us
a call and get that scheduled right.
Speaker 1 (05:51):
Eight seven seven six three two thirty six ninety is
the number four concept by i with hearing centers eight
seven sevens six three two thirty six ninety. Now, if
it's easier for you, you can always go online and schedule
at their website which is Iowa Hearing dot com again
Iowa Hearing dot com. Either way, make sure you do
(06:13):
it by one o'clock today. You'll qualify to receive two
hundred and fifty dollars off per device on any series
package and twenty four months no interest financing with approved credit. Again.
Must call, must contact Concept by one o'clock today to
make sure you have that in your basket that you
can pull from once you have that complementary hearing evaluation.
(06:37):
And that's what I love about what Concept does. Those
hearing exams are completely complementary and they're absolutely thorough, wonderful.
And you know that brings up a good question. Kat.
You know, we often talk about hearing. Why and you've
been explaining some of it, but why why have our
hearing screened? I mean it seems kind of silly, I
(06:57):
don't need it screened.
Speaker 2 (06:58):
Well, it's for our overall health. And if that alone
is not enough, just that it's generally recommended once we
hit age forty to get it tested every five years.
Let's go into some other reasons why you should have
your hearing screen. When hearing loss goes untreated, you become
(07:21):
two to five times more likely to develop dementia. So,
you know, I've heard people say, you know, I do
my crossword puzzle every day, I do Mi sedoco, and
that's great. You know, we do need to challenge our minds.
But a very easy thing we can do is getting
(07:42):
our hearing tested to ensure that we don't have loss,
and if you do have loss, to get it treated.
Wearing hearing devices can slow the symptoms of dementia by
up to seventy five percent. So yeah, this is important
stuff in one of the really easiest things we can do.
(08:06):
Another thing that I think often goes overlooked is that
untreated hearing loss triples your risk of falling. So people
don't realize that not hearing at a normal level compromises
your balance, and it increased those risks for falls. And
(08:27):
as we get older. That's a big game changer. And
I know, you know, in the past I've done full
shows on just the effect of hearing loss and falling,
So it is another important aspect. Untreated hearing loss speeds
up the aging of your brain by four years. So yeah,
(08:51):
you know, we want to talk about you know, I
think it's not just extending our lives or living a
long time, but having that healthily. You know, I think
everybody thinks, oh, you know, we want to live longer,
but we want to live with that quality of life.
So it's an important thing. Another reason to have your
(09:13):
hearing tested. If you have type one or type two
diabetes or even pre diabetic, you are twice as likely
to develop hearing loss, so it's important to come in
and get your hearing screened. And again baseline at age
forty in every five years, workers with untreated hearing loss
(09:36):
who are regularly exposed to high noise levels are four
times more likely to be hospitalized for work related accidents
because you're not aware of your environment. So again another
safety aspect. If you smoke or you are regularly exposed
to secondhand smoke, you are twenty percent more likely to
(09:59):
have a hearing loss. Another reason to get your hearing screened.
Taking aspirin four days or more per week. And when
I say this, because everybody's like, oh my gosh, I
take it for you know, a baby aspirin, We're not
talking about a baby aspirin, and we're talking about the
higher milligram of regular aspirin. Taking aspin four days or
(10:21):
more a week makes you twenty percent more likely to
have hearing loss. A body mass index of twenty six
or higher increases your hearing loss by twenty five percent,
and osteoporosis increases your risk of hearing loss by forty percent.
So you know, if just getting that baseline is not enough,
(10:45):
you just heard all those reasons, why anything rings true
for yourself or maybe somebody you know in your life,
It's time to pick up the phone and give us
a call and get scheduled.
Speaker 1 (10:57):
It's complimentary, absolutely complementary, free to you, and your insurance
company does not get charged either. So why not schedule
it today? So easy? Eight seven seven six three two
thirty six ninety that's eight seven seven six three two
thirty six ninety four. Concept by Iowa Hearing Centers or
(11:19):
their website Iowa hearing dot com that's Iowa Hearing dot com.
Either way, great way to schedule that complimentary hearing exam
and qualify for the promo, which is two hundred and
fifty dollars off per device on any series package and
twenty four months no interest financing with approved credit. But
(11:40):
you do have to contact Concept by one o'clock today
and get that on your calendar so you qualify for
that fantastic promo. Kat Klower is our hearing instrument specialist
with Concept, letting us know about all the reasons why
we really should have our hearing screened. And I know
earlier you were talking about, you know, doctor's appointments and
(12:01):
all the things that we normally have done at doctor's appointments,
and she'll ask me. My doctor will say, oh, okay,
and when is your next you know exam for you know,
Here's when we're going to do your next mammogram, Here's
when we're going to do your next blood work. When
have you gotten scheduled a exam for your eyes? Blah
blah blah. And then I go, oh, and by the way,
(12:23):
it's only two more years till my hearing exam, And
she'll laugh and She's like, good, I'm glad you're taking
care of that.
Speaker 2 (12:28):
Yes, we make it easy for you when I say
get it tested. Every five years, if you come in
and you're hearings at a normal level, we put in
what we call a call back. It means an x
amount of years, we'll call you and remind you that
it's time to come in and get rechecked. Because who's
going to remember, right, I know I wouldn't, so we
(12:52):
do make the process pretty simple. And one of the
great things about you know right now and time, is
that we have such a great product available. For the
last couple of years, you've been hearing me talk about
our Aqua devices, which were a wonderful product and I
(13:13):
really like and I'm going to just quickly go over
some of the features of the Aqua that I really
enjoyed for my patients and that they've kept moving forward
into the new product. Well. Of course, one of the
best things is that it was waterproof, right, That's why
we called it the Aqua. It is truly waterproof. It
(13:36):
can be submerged underwater for up to an hour, and
it just that dustproof. That waterproof just gives it such
great durability and fuss free, very few repairs. And you know,
I am all about and I'm sure my patients are
all about easy to use. And I love that that
(14:00):
best level of our hearing devices at Best Package gives
you a product that gives you the convenience of a
fully automated hearing aid. It will automatically adapt to sounds
in your environments as your environment change. So what does
that mean. It means it's easy to use. You don't
have to push a button, you don't have to go
(14:22):
into the app. You can just let it do its thing.
Put it on in the morning, wear it all day
at night, put it in the charger done. Very easy
to use. It has something that I really enjoy. It's
called a speech enhanser. So it makes it easier to
(14:43):
hear soft speech in a quiet environment. And why is
this important Because a lot of time we're at home
with usually one other person that's significant other, and it
makes it easier to hear their voice from across the room.
It makes it easier to hear somebody whispering. If you've
(15:05):
got grandchildren, they like to do that. So it's been
a great feature that everyone is enjoyed, and I'm glad
that we are keeping that into the new product. We
have motion sensor hearing, so the hearing devices are able
to detect whether you're standing or whether you're moving, and
(15:26):
to help you hear better from different directions. So, for example,
if you're standing and talking to somebody you're not moving,
the thought is going to be you want to hear
voices in front of you. But once the hearing aids
detect your emotion and you're walking, you may have a
(15:46):
friend walking to the side of you, so it's going
to find that speech and make it easier to hear
that person. These are just some great features that we've
had in the Aqua and we're now moving in to
the new product. Danny, I'm gonna let you quick tell
them about the promo and then we're going to get
(16:06):
into the new stuff.
Speaker 1 (16:07):
Oh. I'm so excited because this is so cool. All right,
So here's how you set up your complimentary hearing exam
with Concept by Iowa Hearing Centers. Oh, in the promo,
just let me tease you with that. The promo two
hundred and fifty dollars off per device on any series
package and twenty four months no interest financing with approved
(16:30):
credit you've got to call and set that that complimentary
hearing exam by one o'clock today. So make sure you're
ready to go, and you contact Concept by one o'clock
today and set that free hearing screening. Here's how you
do it. You pick up the phone at eight seven
seven six three two thirty six ninety again eight seven
(16:51):
seven six three two thirty six ninety or online. Their
website is Iowa Hearing dot com. That's Iowa Hearing dot
Do that before one o'clock so you qualify for this
great promo. I don't want you to miss it. Kat
Klower is a hearing instrument specialist with Concept by Iowa
(17:11):
Hearing Centers, and she's the one that's letting us know
about all the new meat technology. And honestly, Kat, we
are both kind of nerds when it comes to new technology.
I just love hearing about it.
Speaker 2 (17:24):
Yes, I think it's great, and it's such a great
time for someone who's new to hearing devices to take
advantage of this great new technology. But it's also great
for people who've worn hearing aids and are looking for
something newer and better because we can definitely make it better.
(17:44):
So the new devices have a new era chip and
it has seventy five percent more RAM for faster processing
compared to the previous chip. Thanks to this new chip,
it has improved Bluetooth connectivity. It provides six times more
(18:08):
wireless transmission power, and it streams two times a distance
and it has seamless transition between streaming and regular listing mode.
This is really a big deal because a lot of
my patients come in and they think, oh, I don't
care about the Bluetooth, I don't really want the Bluetooth,
(18:32):
and then they are hooks and they love the Bluetooth.
So whenever we get improvement there, it's such a great
thing and it's something that our patients really enjoy. Now
our best product that we offer in our best package
is called Sphere so sph ere so think of like
(18:59):
round beer. So what is new with this product is
that it has two sound processing chips in each hearing
aid and that is something that we have not had before.
And it has that new era chip and it has
the groundbreaking deep Sonic chip, so that is just a
(19:25):
big thing. This deep Sonic chip has fifty three times
more processing power compared to current chip technology. So it
is a AI trained chip and it was trained with
twenty two million sound samples for a nuanced sound recognition
(19:49):
and it can classify environments and it's dedically dedicated solely
to separating speech from noise. And this is the first
aichip to do this, and it is on president that
you can hear speech and noise from any directions, not
(20:12):
just in front of you, and it is just amazing.
I'm really enjoying this product, and I'm having fun in
my office. I'm having fun in the clinic because you're
not going to find another product like this one for
probably the next three years. And I do in office demonstrations.
(20:33):
I can do it with the hearing aids you currently
wear as opposed to the new Spear product, and you
are going to notice a big difference. It's just been phenomenal.
And to schedule a complimentary evaluation and possibly a demo,
just pick up the phone and give us a call.
(20:54):
By one o'clock. Call us before the Iowahawkeyes come on.
I think they play at two thirty days.
Speaker 1 (21:00):
That's right. It's homecoming weekend, Holy cow. So yeah, nobody
wants to miss that. But you also don't want to
miss this promo because This is really a great promo
and again when you can take care of such or
take advantage of such great technology too. Oh man, you've
got to call and schedule your complimentary hearing exam. The
promo is two hundred and fifty dollars off per device
(21:24):

six three two thirty six ninety. That's eight seven seven
six three two thirty six ninety. Their website which you
(21:46):
can also schedule your exam at Iowa Hearing dot com. Again,
Iowa Hearing dot com. It's also a great resource. I
would bookmarket if I were you, because you're gonna find
yourself wanting to go back and check out things from
time to time. And of course with Concept by Iowa
Hearing Centers Hearing instrument specialist Kat Klower, who is a
Hawkeye Aluma, I know she's going to want to check
(22:08):
out the game today with the Hawks. But yeah, with
this being Audiology Awareness Month, Kat and just all the
things that have been brought together why wouldn't you want
to schedule that complimentary hearing evaluation and make sure you
have it done, especially with all this great technology.
Speaker 2 (22:24):
Yes, it's a great time to get it done with
awareness months. And another point I'm going to bring up
because even though we may not want to think about it,
the holidays are right around the corner. If you're out shopping,
it's in your face. It's already here. Both Halloween, Thanksgiving
and Christmas have arrived in the stores, and you know
(22:46):
they are right around the corner. And it's a time
when we gather. We gather with friends and family, and
we want to make sure you're hearing your best so
you can enjoy that time together. So yes, it's just
that means picking up the phone, getting it on the schedule.
We're not going to be doing it today. I won't
be at the game. It's spearing for those Hawks, but
(23:09):
it's just to get on the schedule. We're open in
the Dawnport Clinic Monday through Friday. On Mondays, I'm here
till seven pm because I have a lot of people
who still work full time, so we have different times
that will accommodate your work schedule. And it's an easy
thing to do. I always say, do it together. Pick
(23:31):
up the phone and call and schedule for yourself and
a loved one. Come together, make the process easier.
Speaker 1 (23:37):
Yeah, and there are lots of things to do around
