(00:00):
Live from three months three to experiencein fabulous downtown Las Vegas. It's the
podcast that celebrates our city. Thisis Living Las Vegas, Mojoe five,
the Bull, that's Ice and Tonyfrom ninety three one the Mountain, and
today we are keeing up our sportsextravagance. A lot happening this weekend.
(00:20):
It's a busy time of year asfootball returns, and this is where we
look to you, Tony, becauseyou know way more about sports than we
do. Yeah, well that's true. You did say teeing up. I'm
impressed that you said teeing up golf. That sounds a nice little association.
So we're gonna pass the ball toyou here in a minute. Oh boy,
we're gonna talk the Aces. We'regonna talk the Rebels. We're gonna
(00:43):
talk the Raiders. With Game oneand a big game Sunday, we're gonna
talk about all that. But firstwe need to talk about why people are
starting to get a little irritated withthis whole F one deal. The road
paving is one thing. Yeah, are we supposed to be positive? I
guess we are right. I thinkit's still a net positive, even though
it's come with some headaches, that'sa good way to put it. This
one hurts a little bit though, because of those trees in front of Bellaggio
(01:07):
being torn down that people are upsetabout, and they said some will be
put back up. If you don'tknow the Bellaggio, they have some iconic
I don't know if that's the rightword, some long standing trees right there
that go back all the way tothe Dune Hotel and casino, way way
back at old school Vegas. Andthere's a lot of history with those trees.
Some of them are now going tobe turned into what chips and some
will be returning to somewhere in frontof the Bellaggio for the New Year's Eve
(01:30):
celebrations in December. But residents areupset that they cut them down to make
room for the grandstands. I getit. I'm upset. That's a necessary
thing. But they cut down sometrees so they can make a bunch of
money with f one. I mean, that's I get people love the trees.
We can plant new trees. We'vebeen cutting down trees in this country
(01:51):
for a long time, and theother trees will grow. I get it.
I mean, I guess I'm andI'm an environmentalist kind of right.
I mean, I guess I'm probablymore like an environmentalist than let's say,
half of people listening more than us. I fall on that side of things.
And yet trees get cut down. That's what happens, true, and
this is something that's going to bea big economic positive for the company.
(02:15):
I get it. People that wantthe trees. I read that they were
putting them in a storage ps.I'm like, where do you store trees?
Some of those trees they just cutdown at the at the stump,
so those trees didn't survive. Imean, it's the poor trees. Well
that's okay, I'm moving on.Kind of is okay, But I get
it people love that. I thinkit is cool that it's treed over there
(02:39):
in front of the fountain. It'snot anymore, but I mean I think
it was. But the trees werealso kind of like in the way.
I mean, the crowds there arebigger than ever, and now they're gonna
put grandstands up for the f one. I'm not trying to be too casual
about the trees before we pivot. If those trees could talk, I bet
(03:00):
they've seen some things though. Imean right, let's switch gears real quick.
The Aces are still number one, whoop as they trying to repeat the
as champions. But I see theNew York Liberty right behind them. Tony.
They have another game Sunday against Phoenix, who kind of sucks. So
we do, yeah, yeah,we do. And it's home at Michael
(03:20):
Welter there. That's the final gameof the regular season. Oh wow,
we'll get ready for the postseason. It's gonna be a good game. This
is why we lean into Tony.I didn't NBA champions looking to repeat.
They have had trouble with the Libertythis year. That's the team that they've
had that's had our number a littlebit. I think the last time we
played them we did beat them, but the two times previous to that day
beat us. So it's been aneven season series and that's probably who it's
(03:42):
going to come down to for everythingthis year, which means, you know,
just like last year, if weget to the championship series and it's
the Liberty that we're facing, it'llbe one that everybody's gonna want to see.
Like what you didn't want to havehappened? Was? I mean,
we kind of did they just winit going away. It's a cakewalk.
Nobody was ever challenging us. Wejust always had it. Obviously the superior
(04:04):
roster, obviously the superior team.In this case, we still think we're
the superior team. But there isa challenger, and it'll be interesting to
see how it costs. I mean, good games are always favored. We
always like watching a good competitive game. Sport to have good games. Yeah,
but you know, we were hopingit would be a easy, breezy
round round two, so you getright to the championship. But when your
(04:25):
team is dominating and nobody can challengeand the me's kind of fun to watch.
But for basketball fans nationwide, theywant to see a series, it
looks like we have a challenger.Hey. Look, and it's gonna be
even sweeter when we get that paradeand now no obstructive view in front of
blag. Yeah, those trees aregone. It's great, freshly paved.
(04:46):
I think I'm more upset about thepaving, if I'm honest, it's been
such a headache. Roads probably neededit anyways. Well, yeah, somebody
saying, maybe you guys know thepaving that they did this year, that's
now we're good, right for allthe F one races for the next six
years. We've got some kind ofcontract where this is going to happen here
every year for the next I don'tknow if it's five or six years or
something like that. I don't know. The paving is done now, so
(05:09):
sure, yeah, I think sothey're not going to repay it every year
for the race, are you sure? Yeah? I think that's got to
be right. I don't know,it's been too much of a disruption,
like it needs to be paved acertain way to withstand what the race is
going to bring. But once it'spaved that way, it'll last for years.
I think if that, if theygo and they have to repay even
(05:31):
portions of it every year because ofmaintenance or wear and tear or whatever,
are we still good with that? It's still worth it? Maybe? I
mean I think we'll let's talk aboutit at the end of November, like
you know, if we're at Thanksgivingtalking about like, hey, that was
actually pretty great, glad it washere, And I think that's where we'll
be been looking at flights that weekend. Should I Is that a bad Is
(05:53):
that bad form to try and getout of town? That weekend. That
makes sense. If you're not goingto the race, you don't care about
the race, if you're not employedin a way that requires you to be
here for the race, which somany people are, right, I mean,
obviously that's the most that's the biggestemployer in our city or becaun be
people working that weekend to make surethat that race goes off and that everybody
has a great time. Yeah.If you don't do that, get out
(06:15):
of town. Yeah, I mightdo that. Raiders are I'm gonna be
watching the race on television two unlesssomebody offers me great seats. Yeah,
I'll sell unto you at a discount. Only twenty five out. Rebels won
their first game, So that's goodas we right, I mean, I
mean it was raining in Allegiance Stadiumsomehow during the game. The game was
(06:42):
delayed because rain was getting into AllegianceStadium on Saturday, right, we were
talking about the Saturday uh, andso rain inside the stadium. So now
we know that can happen, Likeyou know, rain in the in the
stadium. Were but that's what happened. But they ended up beating some team
that I ever heard of before. Now this weekend Bryant. Bryant, right,
(07:03):
I don't even know what I didn'teven tell you what state that's in
me nobody knows. And we beatthem pretty well as we should have.
Sure, I say were undefeated rightnow, one to know. But I
don't think that we're going to beattwo and oh number two Michigan Saturday at
twelve thirty. That's tomorrow. Sothe thirty six point underdogs. That's pretty
(07:24):
bad. Now. Look, teamshave famously beat Michigan early in the season,
teams that you don't expect to challengeMichigan. One of the great all
time upsets in college football was AppalachianState beating Michigan early in the season.
It happened like a decade ago.So could we do that? Is that
possible? No? But I's gonnawould be a great story if it did
(07:47):
happen. Yes it would. Imean, look, we are the city
of champions, right anything probably notpossible. But well, listen, so
maybe the players are listening right now, right unov players listen need to get
hyped up for the game. Look, go out there, put it all
on the field. You have livedfor this moment. You can beat Michigan
(08:09):
tomorrow. If you beat Michigan. The rest of your life you'll say,
I we beat Michigan. We werewe were underdogs with thirty six points in
this game, and we beat themighty Michigan Wolverines. Go out there and
do it. You've prepared your wholelife for it. Now go make it
happen. You're a good football player. What makes you think that the guy
(08:31):
on the other side of the ballis somehow not is better than you.
He's not better than you. Ishe more prepared than you know? Is
he bigger than you? Maybe alittle? Go out there and beat him,
take suck win. I'm so inspiredright now. What about the miracle?
Remember the movie Miracle? Yeah, that that speech, and just play
(08:54):
that for the kids. There yougo. I don't know, it might
not live up to the one youjust gave Tony win. Just go out
there and do your thing and don'tsuck. And you have what you've won
before. Just do it again tomorrow. What if you can have everything you
ever wanted in one moment, wouldyou capture it or just let it slip?
Okay? Eminem All right, Sothat's happening, and then Raiders have
Game one. They kick off theseason in Denver Sunday at one twenty five.
(09:16):
Don't worry, don't have to worryabout it. Allegian steady and leaking
on you out there. They're underducks, still mopping that up. Of
course, Well, Denver is notgreat. Denver is not great. They
weren't great last year. This year, I think, you know, they've
got a new coach, Sean Payton, so I think people are excited to
see what that can be. SeanPayton's had a lot of success in the
league. But look, I thinkI think that the Raiders are going to
(09:37):
be better than people are giving themcredit for. And you got Josh Jacob's
locked into a deal right now. They've got this weird thing going on with
Chandler Jones. Everybody's like, what'sgoing on with this guy right now?
Nick, he's posting odd stuff, like everybody's a little worried about him right
because he's posting And by the bythe way, we're recording this on a
Thursday, so I don't know whenyou're listening to it. Hopefully everything's okay,
(09:58):
but doesn't look like he's available thisweekend. But again, I think
they're going to be better than alot of people are giving them credit for
give that same speech for the Raiderswe need. It's it's just the Broncos,
right right, you know, justmean if you beat him before,
just go do it again. Yeah, Garopolo behind the ball? Is that?
(10:20):
Okay? Garoppolo starting his first gamefor the Silver and Black. There
we go, weapons all around.Sure. I like the new ted End
they got from Notre Dame. Ithink his name is Michael Mayer, Jonathan
Mayor, Michael John. Who's JonathanMayer. He's a singer. That's a
singer, John Michael Mayer tight end. He is a Wonderland John Mayer's a
(10:45):
different guys. Jonathan Mayor. Idon't know. Mayor is his last name.
Maybe it's from Michael Michael. Anyway, he's a good player. It
looks like an I promise of tightend. Who's Michael Mayer, Michael Meyers
Halloween. Well his name is notMyers. Oh Mayor's okay? Any sports
podcast clearly, and for those wholistened to the podcast, you know often
(11:07):
last week, Tony and I madeour wager. That's right. Oh yeah,
you've surprised me with the amount ofmoney we were ready to put it.
Now it's going to make these moreinteresting. Hundred dollars dollars makes it
interesting. Twenty bucks we kind ofcare on hundred bucks, all right,
Yeah, what's so remind everybody whatthe best. So Tony's a lifelong Cleveland
Browns fan. I'm a franchise longHouston Texans fan. The Browns face the
(11:28):
Bengals that were both out of townthis weekend. Texans face the Ravens,
so those are both going to beinteresting. These games a home game,
is that what you're saying? Oh? Is it? I thought it was
at Cincinnati. Is it in Cleveland? I think it's a Cleveland game.
Yeahs under Ducks. Yeah, Bengalsare a very good team. So we'll
see. But whoever has the mostwins at the end of the season wins
(11:48):
one hundred bucks from the other Ducks. Let's go. It's a long season.
As I learned, it's not justtwelve games. I think the Browns
are expected to be better than theTexans. But I mean, you know,
you got a new rooky quarterback.Do you know his name? Nope?
This guy this he's got one hundreddollars. It cannot look when you
get that many picks, you gottabe good, right at some point I
(12:09):
need that pep talk Tony, yeahlose, Hey it might be yeah talk
and don't stand a chance. Holdon, I'm on Amazon Prime looking at
things up for the game. Ohboy, here we go. We'll see
you in the playoffs, Tony US, which don't count towards our bet.
(12:31):
So if we end up, youknow, even a push, and then
we'll buy each other dinner. Ilike it. Could I come. I
don't eat meat, so you winin that level, because then my meal
is gonna be super cheap. Tangent. Let's talk about anyway, let's talk
about vegan diet. Good luck, good luck to the Rebels and the Raiders
and the Aces as they wrap upthe season this this weekend as well,
(12:54):
and a jury is still lot on. What we think about F one?
