Speaker 1 (00:00):
Our guest this morning is Justin Barry, general manager of
Mansfield Distributing, And if you missed it, we had this
news a week or so ago. They have some big
news as the world famous Butdweiser Clydesdale's are coming to
Richland County, Ashland County all around north central Ohio next
(00:20):
month in September. And we shared it in the news,
but I thought, hey, be good to hear from the
man himself explain you know how this happened. Justin's joining us.
Good morning, great to.
Speaker 2 (00:29):
See you, Good morning, Eron, Thanks for having me.
Speaker 1 (00:31):
Ye, how summer been for you?
Speaker 2 (00:32):
It's been great, but it's definitely definitely a busy time
for beer sales. You know.
Speaker 1 (00:36):
I wanted to bring you in because I thought, you know,
it's not very often you know the Budweiser Clydesdale people
see them on TV. They're coming to town. We're gonna
list where they're at again next month in September. You
have them planned for all over midd Ohio.
Speaker 2 (00:48):
Yeah, we just got lucky. The week that we got
them is going to be the Wayne County Fair, Ashlon
County Fair, and the Belleville Street Fair, plus a few
other visits, which we'll talk about. But we're real lucky
to have them in here. It's been a two year
process to get them back into our area. They're on
very high demand. We're actually getting the Saint Louis team
(01:09):
to come in. So definitely be some popular horses within
that batch by some that you might recognize from the commercials.
And yeah, it'll be a lot of fun.
Speaker 1 (01:19):
We'll explain this a little bit further. This would be
great to come out and a great photo opportunity for
people at these events, right.
Speaker 2 (01:25):
Yes, yes, this is an awesome opportunity to get close
up and personal with the horses. There'll be a couple
appearances where it's just one horse we can actually go
up and pet it, take a picture. And then also
two of the handlers that come with them are awesome.
They're super knowledgeable not only in the horses but their
TV appearances. They'll tell you which one was in which
commercial and they're great people to talk to and they
(01:47):
love talking about the horses.
Speaker 1 (01:49):
Awesome. Justin Barry is with us this morning. He again
is the GM general manager at Mansfield Distributing and he
is sharing the big news that the Butdweiser Clydesdale's are
coming to North central Ohio next month in September. All right,
so let's give them the date September tenth. You were
going to have a single horse and at the Brickyard
downtown means Field five to seven on Temple Court, right.
Speaker 2 (02:11):
Yes, so come down five to seven. This is a
great opportunity to get as close as possible to one
of these great horses. You also see one of their
What they do is they come into town with three
semi trailers. That's a pretty impressive operation. Their semi trailers
hold ten horses, the hitch only has eight, so they
rotate their horses as needed. And one trailer also carries
(02:34):
the hitch, the famous hitch that they that they pull,
and it also carries a small golf cart that is
their pooper scooper that follows them around in parades. On Wednesday,
September tenth, you'll be to see a single horse and
one of their trailers will also be in. And then
on Thursday they're going to show up at the Wayne
County Fairgrounds. We're also going to do something really cool
(02:57):
at the Wayne County Fairgrounds from four to six pm.
It'll be a full Hitch. We will parade around the
fairgrounds and then end up at the main grandstands and
that's where we will have a Folds of Honor check presentation.
The great people at Wayne County Fairgrounds, along with ourselves
and Nanhezer Busch, will be presenting a check to the
Folds of Honor program, which provides funds and scholarships to
(03:22):
families of fallen veterans.
Speaker 1 (03:25):
Those check presentations you were telling me about, Justin Folds
of Honor Foundation supported families of our fallen and wounded
military personnel, you said, since two thousand and seven.
Speaker 2 (03:34):
Yes, yes, they've given tens of millions of dollars in
hazer Bush through this program. And it's a really cool program.
And we'll have a representative in town coming to accept
that donation.
Speaker 1 (03:46):
All right, So that's going to be again Wayne County
fair would be on Thursday, September the eleventh. We have
all this information on the local news page at our website.
Justin sent us all the details so you can check
it out. You are hearing again this morning from Justin
Berry again, who is the general manager of Mansfield Distributing.
We are talking about how they got the Budwiser Clydesdales
to come to the area. It's a two year process.
(04:08):
He'll get a little bit further into that in a moment.
But other coming next month in September, so we said
September tenth, Downtown Mansfield Brickyard five to seven, Wayne County
Fair four till six on September the eleventh, but you're
just gonna keep it going. On September the twelfth, they're
gonna be at the Belleville Street Fair.
Speaker 2 (04:23):
Yeah. Like I said, this week is full of full
of fairs, so we will be able to be at
the Belleville Street Fair from four to six pm. Again
a full hitch. Not exactly sure where we're going to
be running around there yet. That's we're getting into some
more details on that. But that's gonna be a great show,
the Belleville Street Fair. Obviously, the World's Fair is awesome
(04:45):
in itself, but then to add the world famous Clydesdale's
will be another added benefit to go to the fair.
Speaker 1 (04:51):
Like the way you put that, everybody knows it locally
is the World's Fair, and you got the world famous
but wiser Clydesdale's come in to town.
Speaker 2 (04:58):
Great.
Speaker 1 (04:58):
So that again is Friday September the twelfth, and then
you told me you added just adding this one right
to the calendar on Saturday, September thirteenth.
Speaker 2 (05:07):
Yes, brand new edition. We will have another single horse
appearance at Friendly Express on two fifteen, Ashland. So if
you want to come out and get close to a horse,
come up between noon and two pm to Friendly Express
gas station on two fifteen in Ashland and you'll get
a great opportunity again meet a couple of the handlers
and get up up close and personal with one of
(05:28):
the horses.
Speaker 1 (05:29):
I want to make sure people are where. You told
me that if somebody is coming to one of these events,
there's no cost to take a photo with the class.
Speaker 2 (05:38):
Yeah right, yes, all this is totally free obviously when
you go to the Ashland and Wayne County Fairs, just
take it to a mission and the horses are just
there as an added benefit for the fair.
Speaker 1 (05:49):
Yeah, that is awesome, And let's get a little bit
of how Justin made this happen again. The voice today
is Justin Barry again. He is the general manager at
Mansfield Distributing and was talking to you off the air.
Now that we're on the year share with our listeners
you mentioned it's a couple of year process that this
is not. You know, everybody would love to have the
Clydesdales right come to their area. So you've been working
(06:10):
on this for a while.
Speaker 2 (06:11):
Yes, I probably get at least ten requests every year
to have the Clydesdales. Now, I don't ask for them
every year, but two years ago I did start the process.
Unfortunately I did not fit into their schedule or two
years ago, but I went ahead and reapplied for it,
and they saw us as a good fit and we
fit inside their schedule. So and I get them for
(06:33):
a whole week, so they come in on Monday than
the eighth, they're off on the ninth, and after that
they are housed at the Wayne County Fairgrounds, right next
to the Wayne County Fairgrounds at the Buckeye Agriculture Museum.
And if they're there, when they're there at the museum
and it's during the day, anybody is welcome to come
(06:56):
by and say hi and check out their stables. They
bring their own portable stables. Uh So if feel free
to come out and take a look at the horses.
As long as they're there and their handlers are around
they'll even come up and talk to you, and it's
a really cool opportunity. They really want anybody, even if
you can't come out to the events, they want anybody
(07:16):
to come up and say hi.
Speaker 1 (07:18):
Yeah again, Justin Berry with us from Man's phot Distributing
talking about the Budweiser Clydesdale Horses that will be in
north central Ohio coming up in kind of right around
that middle September, just before the middle of the month,
and making stops in Mansfield. He talked about, you know, Belleville,
Ashland County Fair, another stop in Ashland, one in Wayne
County at the Wayne County Fair as well. Unique opportunity
(07:40):
and it's funny I remember, you know, back when I
was a kidnam in my forties. Now everybody knows the
Budweiser Clydesdale Horses. You're your chance to get up clothes
and see them.
Speaker 2 (07:50):
Right, Yeah, definitely a lot of tradition there. Also. I
just want to mention too, we haven't mentioned the Sunday,
September fourteenth visit to the Ashland County Fair. Okay, this
is going to be opening up the Ashland County Fair
and it's going to be a full hitch starts at
three pm to five pm. Come on out, get there
early so you can watch the horses hitch up and
(08:10):
get ready to go again. They'll do a tour throughout
the fairgrounds and end up at the main grandstands and
we will also be doing another Folds of Honor check
presentation as the people from the Ashland County Fair have
been so nice to provide a donation to Folds of
Honor so.
Speaker 1 (08:28):
The Ashland County Fair. They will make an appearance there too.
The Clydesdale's you said three till five, yes, three to five,
and that will be Sunday, September the fourteenth, correct, all
right now. Justin has also shared some cool facts about
the clyde Stale horses and you Center press release. I'll
list one if you have some others, we'd love to
hear again. Justin Barry joining us for a few more minutes,
(08:49):
General manager of Ban's phot Distributing, bringing the big news
to the area. The Budweiser Clydestale horses are coming to town.
Thank you the email you sent me a single Clydesdale
we'll consume much is twenty to twenty five courts of
feed per day along with forty to fifty pounds of
hay and thirty gallons of water. That is amazing.
Speaker 2 (09:10):
Yeah, they it's it's definitely a bit of a production
getting them in here. I guess the hay is delivered
to our warehouse and then we deliver it to the stable.
They take care of all the feed. But another cool
part is these horses are taken care of better than
most humans. They're only allowed to travel no more than
(09:31):
forty miles a day, so we have to maintain that
only a one two hour visit or presentation per day.
And these horses are so well maintained and cared for.
Like I said, there's only eight horses hitched up with
they bring ten, so there's definitely plenty of plenty of
time for them to be down and just to relax
at the stables.
Speaker 1 (09:51):
Ah that it's awesome. And again we have a lot
of this information that Justin sent us posted on the
local news page at our website, but make sure you
put all those on the calendar September tenth, eleventh, twelfth, thirteenth,
and fourteenth that the Budweiser clein Stale Horses in September
will be in the area again a Brickyard, Downtown Mansfield,
September tenth, five to seven. Wayne County Fair September eleventh,
(10:13):
four till six, Belleville Street Fair September twelfth, four till six.
You mentioned the Friendly Express gas station over in Ashland County,
Ashland on US two fifty. That'll be Saturday, September thirteenth,
noon to two, and then they'll wrap it up at
the Ashland County Fair on Sunday, September fourteenth, from three
(10:34):
until five. You are going to be busy that way.
Speaker 2 (10:37):
It is going to be a crazy week for us
for sure. Yeah, but fun, right, It's gonna be a
lot of fun. I've done a couple. I've been able
to be part of a couple of these visits and
it's truly just impressive just to see the semi trucks
pull up that have ten horses in a wagon that
dates back one hundred years. I mean, this is it's
a really cool show. And then they hear them stopping
(10:59):
on the ground. You really can feel them as they
pass by.
Speaker 1 (11:03):
And they're doing this, I would assume throughout portions of
the year and in different parts of the country.
Speaker 2 (11:07):
Yeah, there's three teams that travel actually one based out
of New York, one based out of Saint Louis, and
the others based out West. So we're lucky enough. We're
gonna be getting the Saint Louis team, which you can
always go out to the brewery in Saint Louis. They
and Huserbusch Brewery and there's always always a team there
too at the brewery in a stable. It's pretty cool,
pretty neat to see. But yeah, we're gonna get lucky
(11:28):
enough to see the Saint Louis touring team and really
can't wait for this to come. It's been two years
in the making. And I also want to if you
let me. I'd also like to really thank the Wayne
County and Ashton County fair Boards. They've been super helpful,
especially in Wayne County for housing them. Also the people
over at Friendly Express for allowing them to come in
(11:49):
and use their parking lot for a couple hours. The
brickyard down in Mansfield. I think it'll be a great
backdrop for the world famous Clydesdale's.
Speaker 1 (11:58):
Yeah awesome coming to town. And make sure you put
those on the calendar. All these dates again on our
website and justin if we miss anything. I know you
just want to encourage people to Hey, this doesn't happen
very often. You mentioned a couple of years coordinating. They
probably have been here, you said, probably decade or longer, right.
Speaker 2 (12:11):
Yeah, I think there's very few famous animal marketing things
out there as the Bludweiser Clydesdale's, so to be able
to have them in our area and actually have actual
horses that have been in commercials. Sometimes even the drivers
of the team have been in the commercials as well,
so they'll tell you a little bit about that. It's
(12:33):
a really cool experience and you really get to see
some iconic marketing and not only some really cool animals
at the same time.
Speaker 1 (12:40):
Yeah, so put it on the calendar that September tenth
through the fourteenth. They're going to be, you know, a
couple stops in Richland County, one in Mansfield, one in Bealvel,
you're gonna get one in Ashland're gonna get one in
Wayne County, then a second one in Ashland at the
Ashland County Fair. So all those details again from Justin
Barry this morning, general manager of Mansfield Distributing. Will we
appreciate you coming in sharing the great news. You know,
(13:01):
people can't wait to see him come to town.
Speaker 2 (13:03):
Thanks for being with me, Thanks Aaron, Thanks for having me.
I appreciate it.
