flat out out played. They got basically manhandled by a
division rival. And while Monday's box score was five to

four and today went extras, none of it felt close.
Tenth inning today didn't feel close. And that's the problem.

Three games into the season, it's somehow gotten to a
point already where we're sitting here begging for a spark.
On April twenty third, and I had to tweet out
today after the game, what you would fix about a

thirteen to ten baseball team twenty three games in Newhart
in sixty two game season. And it's crazy because it
doesn't feel like they're thirteen. And I know thirteen and
ten's not some you know, crazy record, but like, they

just don't even feel competitive right now. They went into
this series with two on Friday and Saturday against the
Marlins and played really well.

They crushed the baseball, the starters looked good.

Then they blow it late in the game. A Ryan
Kirkering blows, ever blows and it doesn't matter. They blow
it in the eighth, ninth, whatever ending it was on Sunday,
and then you go into City Field and you play
your first game back at the stadium of the team

that quite literally pants to you in the postseason last year,
and you just come out flat, and you come out
on on what Monday night, and you make Tyler McGill
look look like Randy Johnson and Turner oh for three,

Harper oh for three, Cassianus over four, Schwarper one for four,
and and you do the whole whatever like you do
the whole Stott home run in the ninth, and everyone's like, ah, wow,
it's close, it's close. And then you're six hundred and
thirty million dollars combined. Players come up and they just

don't even put together competitive at bats. And then you
move to Tuesday and you finally get a battle through
Aaron Nola start, and yeah, the solo home run in
the first and solo home run or the the other
home run? What games that I don't even know what

I'm talking about right now. I'm sorry. Monday was the
Nola game, Tuesday was the Sanchez game. Sanchez obviously leaves
with the forearm injury. Hopefully that doesn't turn into much,
because they they freaking need that guy. But then you
get these innings out of Joe Ross and out of

Jordan Romano, and you get one out of you get
two thirds out of Tanner Banks, and yeah, he allowed
to run. And then you bring your best right handed
reliever in and he just he just looks like he
doesn't blow, and and and and you fall five to one.

And then you come into today and this was easily
for me, And yeah, I can go and pull other
ones back. And you can say the Marlins game on Sunday,
or the Braves game last Thursday or two thursdays ago, whatever.

You go into today with David Peterson on the mound
obviously good arm and Zach Wheeler pitching for you.

And Wheeler I didn't think maybe he didn't.

Have his greatest look like absolute one hundred percent Zach
Wheeler early, but he battled and he battled like Nola
on Monday, and he battled and he ended up turning

a Brett Baby moos, right, and then you just you like,

you just look like you look lifeless against the team
once again that straight up pants to you in the postseason,
and you talk of off season about how you know, we're
more serious this year. You know, the season starts on
opening Day. You know we're not taking it easy.

And like, this is the time to go. And you
win an awesome Dodgers series a few weeks ago, and

Harper starts on set, ghost around her the dumbest thing
in baseball, first of all, but that's another topic for

goes down looking, didn't think it was a strike, don't care,

and you want to sell Jordan Romano to the whoever
you want to sell him to, fine, But I'm gonna
say something. Not a lot of people are gonna like,
Jordan Romano wasn't that bad today. I didn't think Jordan

pitch and I think that's even something that I would argue.

have to expect each team to score one run in

to score one run. Scoring one run in extras is
practically a failure at this point. And what do you know?

that matters. But like, this is a game after that

And I don't mean that as a full I think
the Dodgers are obviously good, the Padres are good, the
Diamondbacks are good. I don't expect the Giants to be
good for sixty two games. If I'm being a play honest,
I don't think the Giants are gonna make the playoffs.
I think it's gonna be two teams from the East,
one team from the Central, and three teams in the West.
So it's gonna have to come down to the Phillies

having a better record than one of the mets of
the Braves. I think they'll do that. I listen, man,
there's still a chance they win this division. Like that's
what's the most frustrating part about it is is I'm
just incredibly just like just ruins your day. Like you
sit there and you watch it, and it's just like God, like,

And let's not forget that the approach would have been
much different if our offense scores at least one run
with the baseload. I gotta riad again, I agree, and

countless runners in scoring vision problem and it's it's beyond frustrating.

And here's where I'm at with the offense. I am

twenty third. But if I woke up tomorrow morning to
a odds lucky tweet that said Kevin Long has been fired,
I wouldn't be mad at the slightest. It just feels

get complacent almost and and listen, I don't think that's
the full truth. I don't think they're complacent right now
with how they're playing. But it's just it's they're just
getting into this loophole. Yeah, well, yes, like it will

a fastball approach with a Once you see an off

And yeah, Bryce Harper is Bryce Harper, but that guy
can't hit it off speed pitches save his life right now,
And yeah, Harper will be fine if there's one guy
that will be fine. It's Bryce Harper. He's Bryce Harper

five RBIs in a n PS. But like watching him

swing at all these pitches in the dirt, and watching
Trey Turner swing at pitches in the dirt, and watching
at times, although his approach has been a lot better,
and just watching some of these guys just it. It's
it just seems like it's so drilled into their head
to hunt the fastball, Hunt the fastball, hunt the fastball.
Go look at these guys splits. I would love to,

and I might in a few minutes pull up. This
team splits against fastballs just vers everything else. It's it's bizarre.
It's they just hunt fastballs, and they hunt fastballs, and
once an off speed pitch is thrown at them, they
don't know what to do with it. It's frustrating. Listen, man,
if I if there's one that has to go first,

it's it's it's Kevin Long. Make the team uncomfortable. Like
if I had the choice right now, I think you
have to fire Kevin Long to send a message. I

Send a message to the clubhouse that like, hey, like

not everyone's job safe, like you have to perform and
and you have to do your job. And yeah, Harper's
job is safe, and Turner's job is safe. And the
big names guys obviously going anywhere, but like, send a message,

your division rival last year, you gotta switch something. And
and we cried all off season, and everyone cried about
the word.

guy just isn't work. And how much does a hitting

this team needs. I just think they need new blood somewhere,
whether it's a coach, whether it's a player, whether it's
from the miners, whether it's from a trade at the deadline.
But like, you better hope that Dombrowski has a better
deadline as the last few years man because this has
first round exit written all over it. Again, I agree, Yeah,

we got to that one right here. Honest question is
Rojas make it to Alonzo's ball with outfield playing as
deep as they are in that situation. No, no, he doesn't.
Not a single player in baseball makes it to that ball.
Unfortunately they're playing deep. They have to play deep in

why I kind of said I didn't think Jordan Romano
was as bad as everyone thinks he was. Today. It was.

City Field and you just just look like you don't

here and they're a little bit Phillies lead the league

Something needs to change. Someone maybe needs to flip a chair,

them back because they're not like the most frustrating part
about it is like they're not a bad baseball team,

they can't find their way back up. And that's the
most frustrating part is they get in these slumps, and
Harper gets in these slumps, and it seems he just
seems like he kind of takes the whole team with him.
And obviously he's not doing that on purpose, but it
just seems like when Harper goes, everyone goes. The Cubs
have a chance to embarrass and even more, someone in

the clubhouse needs to take the lead. That's a nice
Stotts Berner. Is that Bryson Statt's senior picture from senior
year in high school. That's a funny picture. I've never
seen that before. Yeah, they have a chance to get embarrassed,
they really do. If they play like this in Wrigley,

they're going to get embarrassed. Pe Crow Armstrong is murdering
the baseball right now. Kyle Talker's murdering the baseball right now.
The Cubs bullpens thanks, So hopefully the Phillies can take
advantage of that. Probably not, they at the rate they're
going they'll probably make four guys look like all stars
in that cub's bullpen. Who stinks? So once again, anybody
in here, any final thoughts I want to hear really quick,

division rival. And while Monday's box score was five to

Tenth inning today didn't feel close. And that's the problem.

Three games into the season, it's somehow gotten to a
point already where we're sitting here begging for a spark.
On April twenty third, and I had to tweet out
today after the game, what you would fix about a

thirteen to ten baseball team twenty three games in Newhart
in sixty two game season. And it's crazy because it
doesn't feel like they're thirteen. And I know thirteen and
ten's not some you know, crazy record, but like, they

just don't even feel competitive right now. They went into
this series with two on Friday and Saturday against the
Marlins and played really well.
Speaker 3 (03:34):
They crushed the baseball, the starters looked good.
Speaker 2 (03:37):
Then they blow it late in the game. A Ryan
Kirkering blows, ever blows and it doesn't matter. They blow
it in the eighth, ninth, whatever ending it was on Sunday,
and then you go into City Field and you play
your first game back at the stadium of the team

that quite literally pants to you in the postseason last year,
and you just come out flat, and you come out
on on what Monday night, and you make Tyler McGill
look look like Randy Johnson and Turner oh for three,

Harper oh for three, Cassianus over four, Schwarper one for four,
and and you do the whole whatever like you do
the whole Stott home run in the ninth, and everyone's like, ah, wow,
it's close, it's close. And then you're six hundred and
thirty million dollars combined. Players come up and they just

don't even put together competitive at bats. And then you
move to Tuesday and you finally get a battle through
Aaron Nola start, and yeah, the solo home run in
the first and solo home run or the the other
home run? What games that I don't even know what

I'm talking about right now. I'm sorry. Monday was the
Nola game, Tuesday was the Sanchez game. Sanchez obviously leaves
with the forearm injury. Hopefully that doesn't turn into much,
because they they freaking need that guy. But then you
get these innings out of Joe Ross and out of

Jordan Romano, and you get one out of you get
two thirds out of Tanner Banks, and yeah, he allowed
to run. And then you bring your best right handed
reliever in and he just he just looks like he
doesn't blow, and and and and you fall five to one.

And then you come into today and this was easily
for me, And yeah, I can go and pull other
ones back. And you can say the Marlins game on Sunday,
or the Braves game last Thursday or two thursdays ago, whatever.

You go into today with David Peterson on the mound
obviously good arm and Zach Wheeler pitching for you.

And Wheeler I didn't think maybe he didn't.

Have his greatest look like absolute one hundred percent Zach
Wheeler early, but he battled and he battled like Nola
on Monday, and he battled and he ended up turning
in six innings, nine ks, two urned runs off of
a Brett Baby moos, right, and then you just you like,

you just look like you look lifeless against the team
once again that straight up pants to you in the postseason,
and you talk of off season about how you know, we're
more serious this year. You know, the season starts on
opening Day. You know we're not taking it easy.

And like, this is the time to go. And you
win an awesome Dodgers series a few weeks ago, and
then you just get lifeless, stupid baseball and like nothing, nothing,

frustrating today than the top of the tenth. Right, Bryce
Harper starts on set, ghost around her the dumbest thing
in baseball, first of all, but that's another topic for
another day. Schwerver strikes out what wasn't really even that

competitive a bat, one ball strike, foul ball, looking, goes
goes down looking, didn't think it was a strike, don't care,
swing the bat, and and then Castiano's hits the big single.

Right, stop flies out, and Kepler flies out and it's
just a buzz kill, like it's it's just a it's
a stab in the heart to Zach Wheeler and to

Zach Wheeler battled once again Matt Strom Jose Alvarado through
two innings for the first time since Game three of
the twenty twenty three NLCS, and he battled his ass
off and and listen, man, like I get it, we're

gonna get into Jordan Romano. And if you're in here
and you want to sell Jordan Romano to the whoever
you want to sell him to, fine, But I'm gonna
say something. Not a lot of people are gonna like,
Jordan Romano wasn't that bad today. I didn't think Jordan

know was that bad today. He threw arguably one bad
pitch and I think that's even something that I would argue.

But like you lost that game in the top of

two utter postseason failures just continues to do the same

scoring position, God forbid. Like I don't even think Jordan

have to expect each team to score one run in
extra innings. That is, that is how extra innings are

to score one run. Scoring one run in extras is
practically a failure at this point. And what do you know?
The Phillies only scored one run.

that matters. But like, this is a game after that
like you rip these dudes, like you light a fire
under their ass, Like go in and tell them to

the game and say that that, yeah, we have to

they'll make the playoffs, but I would short of like
them to win this division because listen, I think the

the NL West is going to stay how it is.
And I don't mean that as a full I think
the Dodgers are obviously good, the Padres are good, the
Diamondbacks are good. I don't expect the Giants to be
good for sixty two games. If I'm being a play honest,
I don't think the Giants are gonna make the playoffs.
I think it's gonna be two teams from the East,
one team from the Central, and three teams in the West.
So it's gonna have to come down to the Phillies

having a better record than one of the mets of
the Braves. I think they'll do that. I listen, man,
there's still a chance they win this division. Like that's
what's the most frustrating part about it is is I'm
just incredibly just like just ruins your day. Like you
sit there and you watch it, and it's just like God, like,

And let's not forget that the approach would have been
much different if our offense scores at least one run
with the baseload. I gotta riad again, I agree, and
let's not forget that the approach would have been much

the basis loaded. Yeah, it's just like it's just the
countless runners in scoring vision problem and it's it's beyond frustrating.

And here's where I'm at with the offense. I am
not I am not a fire somebody guy on April
twenty third. But if I woke up tomorrow morning to
a odds lucky tweet that said Kevin Long has been fired,
I wouldn't be mad at the slightest. It just feels

like they're starting to get comfortable. They're they're starting to
get complacent almost and and listen, I don't think that's
the full truth. I don't think they're complacent right now
with how they're playing. But it's just it's they're just
getting into this loophole. Yeah, well, yes, like it will

and a half years of Kevin Long's approach and strategy
and way his entire career has been has been hunt

a fastball approach with a Once you see an off

speed pitch, you don't know what to do with it.
And yeah, Bryce Harper is Bryce Harper, but that guy
can't hit it off speed pitches save his life right now,
And yeah, Harper will be fine if there's one guy
that will be fine. It's Bryce Harper. He's Bryce Harper
whole end of the year with thirty home runs ninety
five RBIs in a n PS. But like watching him

swing at all these pitches in the dirt, and watching
Trey Turner swing at pitches in the dirt, and watching
at times, although his approach has been a lot better,
and just watching some of these guys just it. It's
it just seems like it's so drilled into their head
to hunt the fastball, Hunt the fastball, hunt the fastball.
Go look at these guys splits. I would love to,

and I might in a few minutes pull up. This
team splits against fastballs just vers everything else. It's it's bizarre.
It's they just hunt fastballs, and they hunt fastballs, and
once an off speed pitch is thrown at them, they
don't know what to do with it. It's frustrating. Listen, man,
if I if there's one that has to go first,

it's it's it's Kevin Long. Make the team uncomfortable. Like
if I had the choice right now, I think you
have to fire Kevin Long to send a message. I
think you have to fire him to send a message.
Send a message to the clubhouse that like, hey, like

not everyone's job safe, like you have to perform and
and you have to do your job. And yeah, Harper's
job is safe, and Turner's job is safe. And the
big names guys obviously going anywhere, but like, send a message,
do something, like do something, because if you're gonna run

it back after two year failures and getting pants by
your division rival last year, you gotta switch something. And
and we cried all off season, and everyone cried about
the word.

guy just isn't work. And how much does a hitting

this team needs. I just think they need new blood somewhere,
whether it's a coach, whether it's a player, whether it's
from the miners, whether it's from a trade at the deadline.
But like, you better hope that Dombrowski has a better
deadline as the last few years man because this has
first round exit written all over it. Again, I agree, Yeah,

we got to that one right here. Honest question is
Rojas make it to Alonzo's ball with outfield playing as
deep as they are in that situation. No, no, he doesn't.
Not a single player in baseball makes it to that ball.
Unfortunately they're playing deep. They have to play deep in

why I kind of said I didn't think Jordan Romano
was as bad as everyone thinks he was. Today. It was.
It was one. It was one bad slider to Alonso.
And once again the issue is Romano hasimo two. If

out into the left side batter's boxer down in the dirt.

most frustrating part is they get in these slumps, and
Harper gets in these slumps, and it seems he just
seems like he kind of takes the whole team with him.
And obviously he's not doing that on purpose, but it

the clubhouse needs to take the lead. That's a nice
Stotts Berner. Is that Bryson Statt's senior picture from senior

seen that before. Yeah, they have a chance to get embarrassed,

they're going to get embarrassed. Pe Crow Armstrong is murdering
the baseball right now. Kyle Talker's murdering the baseball right now.
The Cubs bullpens thanks, So hopefully the Phillies can take
advantage of that. Probably not, they at the rate they're
going they'll probably make four guys look like all stars
in that cub's bullpen. Who stinks? So once again, anybody
