Speaker 1 (00:00):
More variety from the two thousands, the nineties, and today
it's Star one on one three. It's Marcus and Corey
and we're back with second Date update.
Speaker 2 (00:06):
This is our dating segment. Yes, and do you know,
I know it could be frustrating to date. Why I
say that I've been married for a while.
Speaker 3 (00:12):
But it actually had no idea dude, when I was dating,
it was very frustrating.
Speaker 2 (00:17):
So we want to help you.
Speaker 1 (00:18):
They have the internet back then.
Speaker 3 (00:20):
Even new Marcus comedy comedy coming sound like that?
Speaker 2 (00:25):
Yes, you do. AnyWho, we want to help you get
a second date.
Speaker 1 (00:28):
Let's bring Devon on Devin? Are you there?
Speaker 4 (00:30):
Hey? What's up from here?
Speaker 1 (00:32):
Devin was daydreaming about a time before the Internet where
we could actually meet girls in real life.
Speaker 2 (00:36):
It's true. Well I did.
Speaker 4 (00:37):
I did.
Speaker 2 (00:38):
Oh that's awesome.
Speaker 1 (00:39):
I forgot. You've met in a very unique way. So
let's roll that out. Thank you for the DM. How
did you meet Marissa? What did you guys do on
your first date? And then what has transpired?
Speaker 4 (00:48):
Set?
Speaker 1 (00:48):
Just give us the whole thing.
Speaker 5 (00:49):
Well, there's a food truck over an emery bill that
I go to, you know, maybe a couple times a month,
and it's always really super chill. God love Jamaican food.
We were talking about jerk chicken. We exchange numbers. She's
super cute. I was just like, okay, well we have
this thing in common. I could kind of finesse the situation.
And she's really really good. Look at her name's Marissa.
Speaker 1 (01:11):
You know why this works. This works on so many levels.
Speaker 2 (01:13):
So you met at the food truck.
Speaker 1 (01:15):
They met at the food truck. Already there's an attraction.
You don't have to worry about whether you're getting catfish.
You both love to eat. You like messy food, and
you like spicy food. All that stuff is out of
the way with this one food truck moment. Wow, brilliant
boom boom. Sorry, so very exciting. All right.
Speaker 5 (01:34):
It's about a week later. We met at a trivia
night at a local brewery. Okay, it was amazing. So
one of the rounds was all about Pixar movies, which
were around the same age, so we both knew like
a lot about the Pixar movies. We started talking about
maybe getting like a friend group trivia group thing going right, Yeah,
and it was sweet, you know, gave me a big
(01:55):
hug at the end. I thought, let's take it slow.
This is cool, game on and I dming her. But
nothing's happened, so I thought there.
Speaker 4 (02:04):
Was something there.
Speaker 1 (02:04):
Okay, what do you think?
Speaker 2 (02:05):
Here's what I'm thinking.
Speaker 3 (02:07):
Marissa loves to surf, and despite the danger of surfing alone,
she decides to hit the waves. Suddenly, a great white
shark comes at her, so she's forced to swim to
a giant rock for safety, and she's still stuck on
that rock without our cell phone.
Speaker 1 (02:25):
Explanation jaws Nope, return to the blue lagoon.
Speaker 2 (02:29):
No, she'll never get it.
Speaker 1 (02:32):
It doesn't matter. It might have happened, right, I'll give
you a hint Lake Lively, no idea. It's not a
Twixar movie, right, No, you try to play along.
Speaker 2 (02:43):
I like it finding Nemo.
Speaker 1 (02:47):
All right, let's get back to it. What we're gonna
do is let's regroup as a team, and then we're
going to call Marissa with you on mute so she
can't hear you. We'll try to figure this out, okay,
in real time, can you?
Speaker 4 (03:00):
Yes?
Speaker 5 (03:00):
Hell?
Speaker 4 (03:00):
Yes?
Speaker 1 (03:01):
All right, hang on, Bud, we'll be right back with it.
It's second Date Update Star one oh one three, Well
variety from the two thousands, the nineties, and today it's
Star one on one three. It's Marcus and Corey doing
second Date Update. We're chatting with Devin. He's on the
phone telling us about his date with Marissa. I like
how they met. They met it at a Jamaican food
truck there in Emeryville.
Speaker 2 (03:18):
Right, they were waiting for their food.
Speaker 1 (03:20):
Yes, so they met in real life and then they
did trivia.
Speaker 2 (03:23):
At a brewery and that was their first date.
Speaker 1 (03:26):
Yes. Now, Devin, to your point, earlier, you hugged, but
it felt like and they're still an attraction. It's not
like you accidentally friend zoned yourself somewhere during the days.
Speaker 5 (03:34):
I don't think so. I mean, I just think maybe
we're both just kind of taking it a little slow.
We talked about, you know, the kind of stuff that
you talk about on days, so we didn't feel like
I was hanging out with like the boys or whatever.
Speaker 1 (03:45):
You right, Okay, the problem is now she's ghosted, so
let's try to figure this out. Go ahead and mute
your phone. We're going to give Marissa a call for
you right now.
Speaker 2 (03:52):
Okay, Okay, Hello, I may speak with Marissa.
Speaker 3 (04:02):
Please she Hi, Marissa, this is Marcus and Corey from
Star one on one three.
Speaker 1 (04:08):
Good morning, good morning? Do you listen to our show?
Speaker 4 (04:14):
I do?
Speaker 1 (04:15):
Awesome?
Speaker 2 (04:16):
Thank you do?
Speaker 4 (04:18):
I do? I love you? Guys?
Speaker 1 (04:21):
What's your favorite part? Is it? Second date update? Asking
for a friend feeling?
Speaker 6 (04:25):
That's what this was, because it's like routine that I
listened to you.
Speaker 1 (04:30):
I love it.
Speaker 2 (04:31):
Are you cool with being on second date up day
with us?
Speaker 5 (04:35):
Oh?
Speaker 6 (04:35):
My gosh, I guess yeah, I mean I think I
know what it's who it's about.
Speaker 1 (04:42):
I guess remember a guy you met it a food truck,
went to trivia and then yeah, and then the rumors
that you ghosted. Now, I don't want to be accusatory, however,
please explain yourself.
Speaker 2 (04:54):
Let's bring Devon on, I mean, how it works, okay, all.
Speaker 6 (04:57):
Right, okay, so so awkward. I'm sorry. I'm sorry that
I just never responded. I just figured that it would
be better to just let it go.
Speaker 1 (05:11):
What happened?
Speaker 2 (05:12):
So what's going on?
Speaker 4 (05:14):
Okay?
Speaker 6 (05:14):
Well, I mean, Devin's cool, but I don't know what
he told you or what he didn't.
Speaker 4 (05:19):
But did he tell you that he brought his cat
like to our first date, to a to a bar,
A cat like a pet cat yeah, his cat. So
he didn't tell you that.
Speaker 1 (05:30):
Den is this for real?
Speaker 2 (05:31):
You can bring cats to bar?
Speaker 5 (05:32):
I didn't think that that was people love that cat. Okay,
I didn't think that that was relevant.
Speaker 1 (05:37):
So you actually.
Speaker 4 (05:41):
I did?
Speaker 2 (05:42):
Cats were like, I mean, you're on a date.
Speaker 4 (05:47):
Can I just say?
Speaker 5 (05:50):
Go ahead? Is my best wing What do you say that?
Darlene the cat? She is my best wingman? I'm sorry,
but it's true. I just what's your people, Darlene?
Speaker 4 (06:00):
Anyway? What's going on? Okay?
Speaker 6 (06:02):
So this is what I'm trying to say, Like, you
didn't even tell them that you brought Darlene because you
don't even think that this is any sort of problem.
Like I think this is crazy. And meanwhile you're sitting
here with a little fling across your chest at a
bar with this cat in it for what you said
is emotional support. Half Way through our trivia game, Darlene
(06:26):
decides to jump on the table and essentially like steal
our tater tots. I mean, it wasn't just like a
chill thing she caused the scene. It was a whole
I like, I don't hate cats, but this felt.
Speaker 4 (06:41):
Like some sort of like third wheel that was wearing for.
Speaker 1 (06:48):
I mean crazy, hold on, hang on, let me just
make sure I have this correct. Yeah, you brought Darlene.
Speaker 7 (06:55):
I'm sure she's lovely in a stand across your chest,
an emotional support animal who then stole all the tater
tuts off the table while you're eating.
Speaker 5 (07:05):
She likes studied food, salty foods, French fries.
Speaker 2 (07:08):
Isn't this some sort of restaurant violation?
Speaker 1 (07:12):
I mean maybe he knows people. I don't know.
Speaker 2 (07:15):
Okay, that's an emotional animal.
Speaker 3 (07:17):
You know, I've seen what was that one? That person
that got on playing with like a peacock or something.
Speaker 1 (07:21):
Sure, squirrel, peacock, small horse, yapuvera.
Speaker 5 (07:25):
I feel like I'm being judged fair here, though.
Speaker 1 (07:28):
Come on, it's.
Speaker 5 (07:31):
You know, if you guys met the cat, then you
would know how chill the cat usually. I mean, he
was a little out of pocket that night, but you
know she's usually pretty chill.
Speaker 4 (07:41):
Right, Listen. I respect how much you love your cat.
I get it. It just was a little too.
Speaker 6 (07:48):
Much for me, and I didn't want to hurt your
feelings from your little You know, I know how much
you love the cat, and I that's why I ghost it.
Speaker 4 (07:55):
I'm sorry
