Speaker 1 (00:00):
Variety from the two thousands, the nineties, and today it's
Star one oh one three. It is Marcus Tuesday. It's
time once again for second date update. If you don't know,
we've been doing this for years, almost a decade actually,
but we're just trying to put people together. We actually
had a win yesterday, which was exciting.

Speaker 2 (00:15):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (00:16):
A lot of times people go on a first date,
there's some sort of misunderstanding or somebody does something, they
get ghosted on. We call your date to figure out
what happened. Let's bring Grant on. Grant good morning, Hey,
good morning, Hey man, so here to help tell me
everything about Lena. How did you guys meet? And then
like what did you do for your date?

Speaker 2 (00:36):
Yeah? So it was a really good day. I mean
we met online on Hinge and we went to dinner
in the Mission District, which was great. We had shared
small plates, we talked about our favorite bands. We even
just closed the place down, like, hey, we were out. Honestly,
we always in the morning. I really thought that the

(00:59):
chemistry he was there, and she unfortunately ended up ghosting me,
and I just I don't understand why.

Speaker 3 (01:06):
This whole thing sounds delicious. I don't know if anybody's
ever done the late night creep in the Mission District.
But it's a good time.

Speaker 1 (01:12):
Tell you what, here's what we're gonna do. We're gonna
call her. We'll have you on the line. You'll be
able to listen in. We'll have you mute so she
can't hear you, and we'll try to.

Speaker 3 (01:18):
Figure it out. Okay, we'll do it next right after
the song.

Speaker 1 (01:21):
It's Second Date Updates Star one oh one three, Well
variety from the two thousands, the nineties, and today it's
Star one O one three.

Speaker 3 (01:27):
It's Marcus Tuesday Morning doing Second Date Update.

Speaker 1 (01:29):
We're in the middle of it. We've been chatting with
a with Grant. He and Lena met online on Hinge
and then you guys went to a late night dinner
in the Mission district. Your words, you close the place down.
This has to work.

Speaker 3 (01:43):
Yeah, there's no reason it shouldn't.

Speaker 1 (01:44):
Let's try to get her on the phone and let's
get some answers.

Speaker 3 (01:55):
Hello, Hike, may I speak to Lena?

Speaker 4 (01:58):
Please, says she.

Speaker 3 (02:01):
Hi, Lena, It's.

Speaker 1 (02:02):
It's Marcus from Star one O one three, I do
the morning show. I don't know if you ever do
you ever listen to our show.

Speaker 4 (02:08):
Oh my god. Hey, yeah, I love you guys.

Speaker 3 (02:10):
You're the best.

Speaker 4 (02:11):
What's up?

Speaker 3 (02:14):
Well, we're doing second date update?

Speaker 4 (02:17):
Hold on, is Grant on the phone?

Speaker 3 (02:20):
Yes, yes he is. Grant.

Speaker 2 (02:23):
Are you there, I'm here. I'm just trying to get
some answers. We all are as to why you go
see me after our date?

Speaker 3 (02:32):
Did something happen?

Speaker 4 (02:35):
Yeah? I mean, well bye. We absolutely did have a
great time. I really enjoyed talking with you, getting to
know you.

Speaker 3 (02:42):
I heard you close the place down. What's up?

Speaker 4 (02:47):
Well we did, but like, things are fine. But things
got really weird once he started mentioning his dog. Okay,
and he kept referring to his dog as his roommate,
and I was like, oh, okay. But then whenever he
was talking about plans, he kept referring to like we,

(03:10):
so referring to we as and he and his dog,
So regardless of what he was doing, his dog was
always included in everything.

Speaker 3 (03:20):
Okay, so they hang out. They hang out.

Speaker 2 (03:23):
Now.

Speaker 4 (03:23):
I love dogs, do not get me wrong, uh huh,
But like I don't refer to dogs as like a human.
So that was really weird to me. It was like, oh, yeah,
we're going to the grocery store. Oh yeah, we're going
to the movies. I'm thinking, oh, you and who and
he's like, oh.

Speaker 3 (03:40):
My dog.

Speaker 4 (03:42):
And I'm like, that's kind of weird, right, So I guess, but.

Speaker 3 (03:49):
That's not a ghostable offense, in my opinion?

Speaker 2 (03:51):
Is it?

Speaker 3 (03:52):
Also? Are you allowed to take a dog to the movies?

Speaker 4 (03:54):
It was odd, but then but then things also got
a little bit weird. So when we went out to dinner,
he also had casually mentioned that he had dated one
of the servers at the place. Okay, at the at
the same restaurant. Yeah, And I was just kind of like, oh, okay,
you know, but thinking maybe she doesn't work there anymore

(04:14):
and whatever, that's fine, so be it. But he was like, oh, yeah,
we're still friendly, we still chat and whatnot. And she
was still working at the restaurant.

Speaker 3 (04:24):
She was there when you got there and.

Speaker 4 (04:27):
When we got there. So we were sitting she catches
his eye, looks over waves and comes over to say hello.
I was too stunned to speak and move. I was like,
this can't be real. I should have just gotten up,
but I was like, what the heck? So so yeah,

(04:48):
she comes over, she says hi and whatever, and they
are key king for a little bit and I just
sat there. So she leaves and whatever, and like then
he goes, oh, let me show you a matching tattoo
that me and my ex got together. And he was like,

(05:08):
we've framed it as our quote unquote cautionary tale. And
I was like, what the heck does that? It just
like it just developed so weird. Maybe it was the
drinks that I didn't realize the time was going as
fast as it did. But my mind was blown.

Speaker 3 (05:25):
Sure, Grant, we're going to come to you now because
I have questions. Yeah, I mean, why would you take
you to a restaurant where your ex is working?

Speaker 2 (05:34):
I honestly didn't think it was that big of a deal.
Maybe the server she she didn't do it, but I
was maybe even thinking she could have gave us a
discount on our meal. And this is like one of
my favorite spots in town. Yeah, she works there. I
just didn't think that, you know, maybe she wasn't working
that night.

Speaker 3 (05:51):
What about the tattoo thing.

Speaker 1 (05:52):
I still don't actually understand what do you mean by
cautionary tale?

Speaker 3 (05:55):
But it's okay, I'm not that bright.

Speaker 2 (05:57):
Yeah, and the tattoo thing, for me, it's like, so
that's something that I want to do with any of
my girlfriends or partners going forward, you know, Like I
think it's just a symbol of showing each other love
and like really show them that you're in this and
that's something that I would want from Lena too. But
more to the point, you don't actually like dogs how
you say you do. I was being transparent. I love

(06:20):
my dog. My dog is my best friend. What is
an issue with that if he's included in all of
my plans?

Speaker 4 (06:26):
Honestly, I felt like I just went through a field
trip of your past and it was just it was
too much.

Speaker 2 (06:31):
And that's okay because I can't date someone who doesn't
consider dogs as much as they consider them as humans
and people.
