Speaker 1 (00:00):
More variety from the two thousands, the nineties, and today
it's Star one on one three, It's Marcus. We're back
with second date update. Just trying to help you with
your love life, trying to help you navigate. I know
it can get rough, especially obviously online dating is terrible.
Let's bring Jenna on. Jen. Are you there?

Speaker 2 (00:14):
Yeah? Hi? How are you good?

Speaker 1 (00:16):
I don't think I've ever heard a good word about
online dating.

Speaker 2 (00:19):
I mean, that's like all we have now, So like,
even though it's the worst, where are we going to do?

Speaker 1 (00:24):
The other part that stinks about it is if it
happens to work, nobody wants to tell anybody that they
met online. You're not going to necessarily announce that at
your wedding. So I understand.

Speaker 2 (00:33):
I went to a wedding where they met on match
dot com and they gave out little match boxes and
we're like, we met on match. It was like, good
for you, I'm glad I worked for you, like the
one in a million, I guess, but it was kind
of cute.

Speaker 1 (00:46):
What if you lean into it? Why not? I want
to talk about Chris. I understand he's ghosted since your date. Yeah,
sounds like it was a good time. So let's bring
everybody up to speed. Tell me how did it kind
of unfold? And then what did you do for your
first date?

Speaker 2 (00:58):
So we chatted for a few weeks because I feel
like that's pretty standard for online dating, and then we
went on a date and like his texts were really
funny and he was like really excited like before we
went out, So like that's what really won me over,
you know, is he's funny. So of course that works.

Speaker 1 (01:13):
Yeah, funny always works.

Speaker 2 (01:14):
Yeah, and he took me to sushi in the mission,
which was amazing, Like I love sushi, so green check
right there? Sure, and like yeah, like he was just
like really witty and confident and like gave off that
like cool artist energy literally.

Speaker 1 (01:28):
In your head? Was it like green flag, green flag,
green flag? Check check check.

Speaker 2 (01:32):
Oh yeah, like funny in real life, Thank goodness, Thank goodness.
Like you know, sometimes when you chat with these people
online or like you know, over text before you meet them,
it's literally like is this chat chypet? Like what am
I talking to?

Speaker 3 (01:45):
Right?

Speaker 1 (01:45):
Because then you meet him in person and it's like
a one eighty.

Speaker 2 (01:48):
Yeah, So it was nice to be like, oh, I
think you're genuinely your text version of you. Okay, we
both like talked about like you know, all these like
different like art things, and how we have like an
obsession with like really really bad reality TV.

Speaker 1 (02:01):
Okay, this sounds amazing.

Speaker 2 (02:03):
Yeah, it was amazing. And like I even show a
pictures of like my Corgy on the first day, which
I don't normally do because I don't know that's like
my child, like that's my son. So it feels really vulnerable,
and I felt comfortable enough to do that with him.

Speaker 1 (02:14):
So like, I'm sorry that he ghosted. We're gonna call him.
We're gonna see how the date went for him. I'd
love to get you a second date. You sound amazing.

Speaker 2 (02:20):
Thank you so much.

Speaker 1 (02:21):
Let's get you a second date that I'm just gonna
put that in the universe. Can you go ahead and
hold for a song.

Speaker 2 (02:26):
Absolutely all right.

Speaker 1 (02:27):
We're gonna call Chris. Next Second date update Star one
on one three, just doing second date update. We've been
talking to Jenna called in about her date with Chris.
They met online and then sushi in the Mission district.
That's a green check mark. And my favorite part about this,
Jenna is that he was as kind of genuine in
person as kind of on chat, because I also think

(02:48):
it's weird where you meet somebody, you start chatting in there,
super funny, and then you meet him in person and
it's like I don't know a cucumber.

Speaker 2 (02:56):
Yes, that's the worst. I feel like most dates are
like that.

Speaker 1 (03:00):
Okay, let's go ahead and call him and see what's okay.
I do understand he's ghosted, so I don't like that,
but let's let's give him a shout and see how
the date went from his perspective. Go ahead and meet
your phone so you can listen in Okay, right here
we go. Hello, Can I talk to Chris please?

Speaker 3 (03:22):
This is him?

Speaker 1 (03:23):
Hey Chris, this is Marcus from Star one oh one three. iHeartRadio.
I don't suppose you listen to I do a radio
morning show. Do you happen to listen?

Speaker 3 (03:34):
No? I don't.

Speaker 1 (03:35):
That's fine. I wonder if you might have a second
though to be on the air. Let me explain. We
do a segment on the show called Second Date Update,
and I got sent your phone number. One of our
listeners says, she went on a date with you recently,
and she's feeling like maybe you ghosted and I'm just
trying to figure out what happened, and she'd love a
second date. But do you have a second to talk

(03:56):
about a date that you went on. Her name is Jenna, Okay, yeah,
her words. She said that the intimacy was real on
your first date, and so she would love to go
out again. I wanted to get your vibe how to go.

Speaker 3 (04:12):
The date in and of itself was a little awkward
in my opinion. In the beginning, she seemed pretty cool
and normal and then she started talking about her ex
boyfriend for about forty five minutes. And yeah, I was
basically on a blind date with two people, her and

(04:33):
her ex boyfriend, so I don't know. She was like
she mentioned her name at least like six times and
called them like misunderstood and said that I gave her
like a similar vibe to her ex boyfriend on top
of it, so it just felt like really weird and yeah,
that's pretty much why.

Speaker 1 (04:50):
Okay, those are very valid. Okay, So part of second
date update is that Jenna is actually listening because again,
teachable moment. Sorry to ambush you, Jen, are you there?

Speaker 3 (05:04):
Uh?

Speaker 2 (05:05):
Yeah, And like I was just providing context and like
it was like ment as a compliment, like you had
great vibes, you know.

Speaker 1 (05:13):
Yeah, but that would seem exhausting to me if you're
bringing up your ex boyfriend like that much.

Speaker 2 (05:18):
I mean, I feel like forty five minutes is a
huge stretch. Like also, like you know, you kind of
hash out or like talk about like, yeah, this is
my ex blah blah blah on first dae. It's like
a standards thing. I don't think it was that long.
And it wasn't anything horrible. It's not like I was
just there to be like I need a free mail
and I need to like, you know, say all the
bad things about my past relationship. It was like, hey, right,

(05:40):
look how great you are? Like he was in that way.

Speaker 3 (05:43):
Okay, Yeah, I've never talked about the next on a
first date or any date. Really. I think that's a
weird conversation that you should probably just keep yourself. But yeah,
it wasn't just that.

Speaker 2 (05:53):
It felt like every.

Speaker 3 (05:53):
Time I was talking to you, you were launching off
an outer space, like you were playing around with your tilnils.
The chopsticks became like a fidget spinner. So a server
came over trying to tell us the specials, and you
were ignoring him. The whole time. I mean, it was
really weird. It felt awkward. It felt like you didn't
want to be there. And then the times that I
did talk to you, somehow down the line it became

(06:16):
something about your ex boyfriend and how it reminds you
about him.

Speaker 2 (06:19):
Or so it was.

Speaker 3 (06:20):
It was weird, Like I thought we were on a
date right now, what's happening? It was just weird. It
was uncomfortable.

Speaker 2 (06:24):
So I'm like shocked at this tone and everything feels
like a total like one to eighty from the date.
Like sorry, I guess I was like kind of nervous
and maybe I spoke a little too much about my
ex or whatever, and like fidgeted with my chopsticks too much.

Speaker 1 (06:42):
Is anybody interested in a second date?

Speaker 3 (06:44):
No, I'm good. You should call your ex. It seems
like you guys still got something going on there.

Speaker 2 (06:48):
All right, I'm glad you're cool being a jerk now,
thank you for letting me know who you are.

Speaker 1 (06:52):
All right, you guys, hang on, that's not working. Second date,
up date. It'll be back Monday right after seven o'clock.
