Joining me on the phone today is Dan Chris Well
Am I good friend from the Marion County Junior Fair
Building Improvement Committee. And Dan, how you doing, my friend?

Speaker 2 (00:09):
Oh, done pretty good despite this cold weather we're having
here right now. We're getting winter.

Speaker 1 (00:16):
And winter What the heck?

Speaker 3 (00:17):
Right?

Who the thought right?

Yeah, yeah, that's right.

Speaker 1 (00:21):
We haven't had winner in the last couple of years,
so we're getting it. I'll tell you what you're getting
ready to go. You've got your sixth annual Valentine's fundraising
dinner coming up on Saturday, February February eighth. Rather Dan
tell everybody about the event.

Speaker 3 (00:36):
Well, it's it's you know, the Samaran County Junior Fair
Building Improvement Committee.

Speaker 2 (00:40):
This is our sixth year we've put this event on. Now,
the money we raise.

Speaker 3 (00:46):
Stays at the fair grounds, it stays with the kids.
We use this money to make barn improvements.

Speaker 2 (00:52):
You know. We put roofs on, put roofs on.

Speaker 3 (00:54):
The goat barn. You know, we put new panels around
the goat barn. We've put new posts in the to
go barn. We've done the same to the sheep barn.
You know, it's just improvement after improvement to these buildings
that you know need to be done.

Speaker 2 (01:11):
Continue to have a great fair.

Speaker 1 (01:13):
I love that. Now talk a little bit about the
dinner itself. You guys have dinner. You got an auction.
Tell everybody how it goes and what's for dinner?

Speaker 3 (01:21):
Yeah, we got You can buy tickets for thirty dollars
a person, or for a table of eight it's two
hundred dollars. You can get those from me or any
one of our committee members or from the fairgrounds.

Speaker 1 (01:36):
You know, you got quite a bit of cooking going on. Porklin,
brisket all that. That's that's that's fantastic.

Speaker 2 (01:42):
Absolutely, Yes, our meal consists of this year.

Speaker 3 (01:44):
It consists of porkloin, brisket, baked potato, mac and cheese,
of course the famous our famous green beans, dinner roll
and a salad and then Riverside ice Creams providing us
with ice cream Sunday Bar for dessert this year.

Speaker 1 (02:00):
Oh, very nice, very nice. Now you've got a live
auction and a silent auction. Talk about some of the
things that are that are upper auction that night. A
lot of different items.

Speaker 3 (02:10):
Oh and they're still coming in, you know, I can't
you know the golf cart. Golf cart guy, he's donated
a sound bar system for a golf cart.

Speaker 2 (02:22):
You know, we gotta, I believe we gotta.

Speaker 3 (02:25):
I know with Jenkins Meats has donated a pig or
two halves, and then Jenkins Processing is going to do
the processing, you know. So you know, those was a
couple of the big ticket items. I believe we're getting
a quarter of a beef to be auctioned off and
processed at Links. So you know, those are just some

of the big items. I believe Nice and a Lineman
Stone is going to get us a load of driveway
Stone and Smith Trucking will donate the trucking to haul it.

Speaker 2 (02:57):
You know.

Speaker 3 (02:58):
Of course ag Pro, you know they stepped in local
to the community and their donated a.

Speaker 2 (03:04):
Couple of toys.

Speaker 3 (03:05):
I believe rich Wood and saw or Sawyer down at
Richwood egg Pros donated as well. Carol's Jewelers. They'll they'll
step in and give us something, you know. It just
the local businesses step up and and and they say
it's all for the kids, and they're willing to donate
and you know, give us, give us something to get

some more money for these kids and make their Fair
and a awesome experience.

Absolutely. Dan chriswell with us with the sixth annual Valentine's
Fundraiser dinner going on with the Marion County Junior Fair
Building Improvement Committee. It's Saturday, February eighth and doors open
at five. Dinner set for six thirty dollars for a
single table. They've eight two hundred dollars. If you'd like
to get tickets, you can contact Dan four one two
ninety nine sixty five. You can get a hold of

anybody on the committee. You can reach out to the fairgrounds.
Some self tish and everybody at the fairgrounds can get
you a ticket for the event as well, if somebody
can't make it or if you're going to be there.
There's also a raffle. Talk a little bit about the
raffle and how folks get involved with that. What's up
for grabs?

Speaker 3 (04:08):
Yeah, we're doing a gun raffle again this year. This
year we got five guns with five chances to win.
If you're there this year. If you're if you're present,
you get to pick the gun you you would like it,
you know, in the order drawing the guns we got
this year as a Stoger thirty five twelve Gage Massio

Combo shotgun.

Speaker 2 (04:32):
It was donated by.

Speaker 3 (04:33):
Rim McCurdy and Complete Green Handling Systems. We got a
Ruger nine millimeter Max it was donated by Genuine Motorcar.

Speaker 2 (04:43):
And Power Sports Ryan chris Well. And then we've got
a Henry Golden Boy twenty two long rifle Boy. This
is a really really nice rifle.

Speaker 3 (04:53):
It's donated by Cultivating Innovations with Chris Dunn the proprietor there.
Evan Evan Long stepped in with a it's a North
American Arms twenty two Magnum Mini Revolver Boy. I've never
seen one of these, and these things really look cool.
This is a neat little gun. Nice and once again

Evan along with Bex Hybrids donated that. And then our
fifth gun, donated by Mike Richmond with Richmond Farms, is
a Savage access to Pro four hundred Legend Woodland Camo.

Speaker 2 (05:29):
Another really nice gun.

Speaker 3 (05:31):
I mean, we got we got some, We got some
really really good guns. We're raffling off this year all guns.
Thank you to Norton's Sporting Goods. You know they give us,
they give us a good deal on these guns or
our donors a good deal on these guns. They're handling
everything you do, your background check and everything through them,
and the guns is down there ready to be picked

up for the winners. And can't thank Norton Sporting Goods
enough for for everything they do for us as well.

Oh yeah, James is great people buddy, He's he's good
to be around. So that's good stuff. Now, if somebody
wants to get a raffle if you can't make it
to the event, you can get them from the committee
members as well. At the fairgrounds. You can look up
Dan to get that raffle ticket, but you need to
be ready to go for Saturday, February the eighth at
Veterans Memorial Coliseum. Starts at five, dinner at six, and

you can get your tickets by checking out any member
of the Marion County Junior Fair Building Improvement Committee and
help with the kids and the great odd things that
go on at the fair and the fairgrounds and keep

Probably well, you know, obviously we got we gotta thanks
the fair board for for letting us do this and
then and I'm going to forget somebody on a committee
turner committee because I don't have.

Every you know, right, you know how that goes.

But you know some of the committee members that you
can get tickets from that has tickets. You know, we're
looking at Julie Hawk, we got Robin Townsend, we got
Chris Dunn, Andrea Dustin and Andrea Bales.

Speaker 2 (07:07):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (07:08):
And I can't and forgive me, I can't remember Bree's
married name, Brie meant her, that's her maiden name. She's
with the rabbit department. Ryan Chris Wells, you know, he's
there with the poultry. And we got Mike Richmond, he's
represents the dairy, and so I don't know Dave Dave

girfriend with the sheep department. I think I've I think
I've got everybody there. I don't think I forgot anybody.
If I did, I apologize my friend, you did good.
So you know, it's just, I mean, it's just it
takes a lot to put this on. And we're looking
forward to a great night and raising quite a bit
of money for the kids this year.

I mean, you know, one of the other big projects
we got in the mix.

Speaker 3 (07:54):
Is we're looking at revamping the electric, adding more power
to the back of the sheep barn because during the
show with all their blowers and everything, they don't have
enough electric. So we're adding more boxes and breakers there.
The beef barns a whole new uh going to get
all new power and drop outlets the rabbit bar and

(08:15):
they're going to get new new electric, new lighting, and
new dropout lets for more fans in there. So just
you know, and without without the support of the community,
this stuff can't happen because we just don't have you know,
it's just not available right, So, you know, shout out
to all these guys that help us tremendously, and.

Anybody who's done an electric project lately, I'm telling you
they're expensive. You have no idea how expensive. Oh my gosh,
cable cable like quadrupled in like two years. It's unbelievable.
So it is a huge expense. And you can certainly
help out by coming out to the event or buying
a rapple taker for the Marion County Junior Fair Building
Improvement Committee sixth Annual Valentine's Fundraising Dinner, it's a great
