Speaker 1 (00:00):
Well, enjoy the morning and most of the afternoon, because
after that, what a rough stretch. We're going to be
through lots of showers. Thundershowers may be strong starting tonight
going right through Thursday. But then and we've talked about
this a lot, then Friday, Saturday, Sunday, it's gonna be beautiful.

(00:24):
I don't want this to change. I'll suffer through the
thunderstorms and the showers over a couple of days. If Friday, Saturday,
and Sunday can be sunny and eighty five except Sundays
near ninety. But I'll take that. By the way, Natalie
Foka's back.

Speaker 2 (00:40):
Thank you, Yes, Sunder if I should thank you, I
don't know if you're happy about that, but.

Speaker 1 (00:47):
With a good forecast, we thank you for that. That's amazing.
You were gone for a week and a half. And
what's it like to sit along the scene and sip champagne?

Speaker 2 (00:58):
Yes I was doing that, but it is nice waking
up at eight o'clock in.

Speaker 1 (01:03):
The morning and that's late. Yeah, that's right. That was amazing.
It's like several hours late for you. Yeah. Well, I
hope you had a good time. Welcome back. We missed
you in the Big three. A new Nightmare poll in
the Mayor's ray shows socialist Zor and mom Donnie with
a nineteen point lead over Well. The closer to him

(01:26):
was Cuomo nineteen points behind, but Mayor Eric Adams he's
a distant fourth.

Speaker 3 (01:32):
And so if the people of the city say that
you know what we want someone else to do it,
I mean, that's life. I can't sit back and complain.
I ran I sold my vision to the city. They
said this is what we want, and I have to
get out there and sell this is what I'm gonna
do for you in the next four years. But the
people of decisions gonna make that determination.

Speaker 1 (01:52):
Wow, there's a whole lot going on in that answer.
We're gonna break it down in just a couple of minutes.
We're also going to talk to political can Sultan hag Shinkoff,
who will be you with us? He's gonna be with
us at nine oh five. He has a very interesting
take on that pole. Dangerous riptides killed two at New
York and New Jersey beaches. In New Jersey at Seaside

(02:15):
Heights and in New York at Manhattan Beach.

Speaker 4 (02:17):
It was difficult to watch, was heartbreaking.

Speaker 3 (02:20):
I felt for the mother and the extended family and everybody.

Speaker 5 (02:25):
You know, it was not easy.

Speaker 1 (02:27):
Yeah, father went out swimming with his sons, and the
sons made it, but the father father didn't. That's what
she was talking about. In Patterson, New Jersey, and surrounding communities,
things are getting better, but still well. Over one hundred
thousand people are without water after a water main break
six days ago, and people were showing up to get

(02:48):
large bottles of water from the city.

Speaker 4 (02:51):
Is for bathing, plushing a tarlet. I got plenty of
water at the house already, so.

Speaker 6 (02:56):
We know what we need to do.

Speaker 7 (02:57):
Man.

Speaker 5 (02:57):
We know that this is some of the water pressure
is only starting.

Speaker 7 (03:00):
To come back, not at my house.

Speaker 1 (03:03):
Donald Trump prepares for his Friday war summit with Russian
President Vladimir Putin in Alaska.

Speaker 6 (03:10):
Putin knows that he's played out the string. He might
try to stiff President Trump on Friday, ninety six hours
from now. I'd be very surprised because the cost to
him if he does that will be extremely high.

Speaker 1 (03:21):
And we're learning a whole lot more about the man
who opened fire in a target parking lot in Austin, Texas,
killing three, including a four year old girl. He said
that he was Jesus, and there was really no reason
whatsoever given. It was a completely random choosing.

Speaker 7 (03:37):
Of the victims.

Speaker 1 (03:39):
Thirty two year old Ethan Ninnicker had a history of
mental illness and several runs in run ins with the police.
In short, he should not have been on the streets.
And we are learning more about the shooter who opened
fire on a CDC building on the campus of Emery
University in Georgia.

Speaker 8 (03:57):
A search fort executed at the residence, so the shooter
revealed written documentation that expressed the shooter's discontent with the
COVID nineteen vaccinations.

Speaker 1 (04:08):
So that's thirty year old Patrick Joseph White of Kennesaw, Georgia.
He had no previous run ins with the police. It
seems he just snapped. And the ratings are out for
the Jimmy Fallon Tonight Show with guest Greg Guttfeld from
Fox News, and it was the highest rated Fallon show

(04:32):
of the year. Talk about this coincidence.

Speaker 2 (04:35):
Jimmy Fallon's contract has just been renewed by NBC through
twenty twenty eight.

Speaker 1 (04:41):
You see that, Colbert, you should have had me on.
Ratings were up for that show over fifty percent. Now,
let's talk about this poll. This is a legitimate poll.
Remember the last one Mamdani did himself that we kind
of just threw out and said, this is ridiculous. This
is the Siena poll. So this one we can take seriously.

(05:03):
And it's almost as disturbing as the last poll. So
Mamdanni has forty four percent. That's great. That he's not
over fifty percent, that's wonderful. But remember, you just need
a plurality in this race. Governor Cuomo is the best
last hope at this point to stop Zorin Mamdani with

(05:24):
twenty five percent of the vote. Republican Curtis Sliwa. This
is really disappointing because as a Republican he should be
getting at least over twenty percent, and he's down to
twelve percent in the poll. Just twelve percent say they
are going to vote for Curtis Sliwa, and wow, Mayor Adams,

(05:46):
he might as well just give it up at this point.
Mayor Adams, poll after poll after poll is in fourth place,
nowhere close to the leader. He's at seven percent. And
that's why I wanted to play that piece of sound.
We had a second ago of Adams, because it sure
does sound like he's resigning to losing.

Speaker 3 (06:07):
And so if the people of the city say that,
you know what, we want someone else to do it,
I mean, that's life. I can't sit back and complain.
I ran, I sold my vision to the city. They
said this is what we want, and I have to
get out there and sell this is what I'm gonna
do for you in the next four years. But the
people of decisions gonna make that determination.

Speaker 1 (06:26):
Doesn't it sound like he's just giving it up.

Speaker 2 (06:29):
It sounds like he's talking in past TESSELI it's already happened.

Speaker 1 (06:32):
Well, yeah, that's what I mean. I mean he's like,
I did my best. You know what I did my best?
People didn't like it. That's life. I think he's already
thinking about the next job. I think he's thinking about
life after being mayor. At this point, maybe there is
a next job it could be and maybe he's going
to drop out. You know, he could drop out and

(06:52):
endorse Cuomo and to beat Mom Donnie. And I got
a feeling that's where this is headed. I have a
feeling after all these people were saying it's never gonna happen.
Never gonna happen. The only thing that might stop him
from doing that is the matching funds. It's hard to
give up that money. That's really hard to give up

(07:13):
that money. And that's that's the only reason this wouldn't happen.
But if he were be able to work out something
with Cuomo, if he had another job, if he was
able to be a deputy mayor, or he works out
something with the Trump administration, because he's got a lot
of friends.

Speaker 2 (07:31):
Now, well, he was already talking about how, you know,
he'll work with the federal government. You know, he doesn't
want them to take over the city obviously. Yeah, uh,
you know, with our police department, but you know, I'll
work with them. So it always sounds to me he's
got something in his back pocket.

Speaker 1 (07:45):
Yeah, so let's see what happens with him, because he
could definitely drop out. Curtis Lee was not going anywhere.
Cuomo is not going anywhere. Mom, Donnie's not gonna go anywhere.
But I don't think if he gets seven percent, what's
that gonna do for Cuomo. It's gonna put him a
little bit closer. It's not gonna put him over the hump.
But I'm sure he'd accept it, and he'd love to
have Eric Adams out there campaigning with him. It's is

(08:08):
kind of smart it no question now though that Donald Trump,
and this is what's helped Mom Donnie. Donald Trump imposing
himself in the race has made him issue number one.
Mom Donnie knows it. He's been going around all five
burrows against Trump. You've seen the signs. Now that's all

(08:29):
he's running on. Forget affordability, you throw that out the window.
Now it's Trump, Trump, Trump, Trump Trump. And as we've
talked about several times, and as I as I theorize
from the very beginning, even before Trump got involved, I
think Republicans want Mam Donnie to win. And George will

(08:52):
I played yesterday, came out and said it, I hope
he wins because it might put socialism and communism in
for a while. It's never gonna go away. But when
he gets in there, he absolutely cannot do anything he's
talking about doing, except the nightmare of sending some social

(09:15):
workers out on police calls. But the first time one
gets killed, and that's going to happen, police officers get killed.
You think an unarmed social worker with no training's not
gonna get killed. Of course it's going to happen. First
time that's happens, he's done. He's finished, because he won't

(09:36):
be able to get any legislation through and get all
of the crazy things he said he was going to
do with the grocery stores and the buses and rent.
None of that's going to happen. None of that can happen.
And then when it's shown that he can't keep the
city safe and the social worker's idea was a nightmare,
like all socialist and communist ideas, it's going to die

(09:58):
a slow death and the Republican are going to run
against it. The Republicans will run against that in the
midterms and they may win. So if it's going to happen,
let it happen, because it actually is a pretty good
thing for the Republican Party. A new poll shows how
many crazy, woke people there are in this country. They're
the ones offended by the Sydney Sweeney Jeans commercials. We'll

(10:22):
break down the numbers next. Plus, we have tickets to
see Hugh Jackman at Radio City at eight twenty five.
Stay with us now, let's get to Jeffrey Lickman. So
much to talk to him about high profile criminal defense
attorney host of Beyond the Legal Limit in his podcast
found on the iHeartRadio app. Good morning, Jeffrey.

Speaker 5 (10:42):
How are you, Larry? Thanks for having me.

Speaker 1 (10:44):
Hey, what do you want to I have so much
to talk to you about. Do you want to talk
about the mayor's Paul? Do you want to talk about Israel?
What do you want to start with?

Speaker 7 (10:51):
Dude?

Speaker 5 (10:51):
I'm sweating my balls off here. I gotta tell you.
I'm in the middle of Postitano Italy.

Speaker 7 (10:58):
Whatever's good for you?

Speaker 1 (11:06):
Don't make me choose, Just say something. I gotta get
in the air conditioning, all right, And let's start with
the with the poll zorin Mamdani in a legitimate poll,
the Sienna pol has him up nineteen points. You know what,
it looks like he's gonna win. And it's a bad
thing for New York City. I'm not sure it's a
bad thing for the Republican Party. They're gonna make him
the face of the Democratic Party, and when he fails,

(11:29):
and he's going to fail, it's gonna make them look
good and may kill socialism in other cities.

Speaker 5 (11:34):
What do you think I think I think that sour
grapes on behalf of Republicans. You know, to allow a
jihadis a socialist, which is really a nice word for
a communist. A guy that's got Muslim terror support, guy
who openly supports Muslim terror and doesn't even care, doesn't
even have to hide it or couch it. In different words,

(11:54):
He's an open Muslim terror supporter. He's got care, he's
got Linda Sarsori, he's got all the terror sporters with him.
The fact that he's going to be taking over our city,
there's nothing good about it, and I don't care what
anybody says. The people you need to blame, besides the
fact that New York is a dump and it's going
to get what it deserves is Curtis Leewa, Is Eric Adams, Cuomo.

(12:15):
I think Cuomo is leading of the three. Not a
big surprise. Part of this is Donald Trump's fault because
he allowed Eric Adams off the hook. He should be
in jail by now. He's a criminal. He got his
case dismissed. But I can't blame it all on Trump
because Trump has done plenty of good and some of
the stuff he's done lately has been just incredible. But
those three men. Two of them should have dropped out.

(12:37):
None of them will. They're the ones that are responsible.
They should have to walk around the city wearing a scarlet,
a or actually a not for adultery.

Speaker 1 (12:46):
Like, yeah, that's what I was going to try to
stop you from saying, all, that's okay, that's FCC friendly.
You're okay with that. Let's talk about Israel. Benjamin Netanya,
who who says he wants to finish the job now,
and all of a sudden there are some last minute
talks and some pressure from both wit cough and from

(13:08):
some Arab countries to bring back the ceasefire talks. What
is going on there and what would you like to
see happen?

Speaker 5 (13:16):
I don't think Nat and Yahuo's gonna do anything. I mean,
he's talking about it. He's giving them a two month
deadline till October seventh. If he really meant to clean
you know, that gutter toilet ball terror hornets nest out,
he wouldn't be talking about it. He'd simply be liquefying,
liquidating it, which is what it deserves. I think that
that Trump doesn't really want it to happen. Certainly, the

(13:38):
Republicans a lot of them.

Speaker 1 (13:40):
Their jew hate.

Speaker 5 (13:40):
Has come out, and now suddenly they find the positives
in Hamas. And we know the entire Democratic Party all
of Europe they love Hamas, they love Muslim terror, and
they hate Jews. So what needs to happen is to
go in there, stop talking about it, and kill anything
that's wearing a green headband or looks like perhaps that
they want to wear a green head band of Hamas

(14:02):
and finish it. Because any kind of ceasefire, let's not
forget on October seventh, there was a ceasefire. There is
no such thing as a ceasefire with Muslim terror. It's
just a slight delay until they break the seafire as
they do all the time and start killing Israelis again.
They need to be ended, end of story. The idea
that they're going to get their own state, yeah, that

(14:22):
makes a lot of sense. Let's have a Muslim terror
group that's supported by Iran. I'm sure everybody in the
Middle East can't get enough of that. Larry, all the
Gulf states, they just want another Iranian terror base. Now
they'll be recognized as their own state. It's ludicrous. They
have to be removed, they have to be destroyed. They
have to be killed. And if there's any popular support
for Hamas or Iran in Gaza, they need to be

(14:45):
destroyed as well. This is a war. This is not
some kind of situation where everybody has to be fair
and we've got to make sure everybody gets a fair shot.
It's a war. There needs to be a winner. There
needs to be a loser. The losers need to either
all die or they needs a surrend. Nothing else, full stop.

Speaker 1 (15:03):
There's so much I want to talk to you about today.
Kathy uh no, not Kathy hokeel Letitia James is now
a target of a criminal investigation. It's being studied right now.
No charges right now, but there has been a referral
over the case against Donald Trump, the real estate fraud case,
and whether that was criminal in bringing it since she

(15:25):
ran on that in the first place, Does that make
sense to you what they're looking.

Speaker 5 (15:30):
At to waste the time? I mean, who are we kidding?
We have so many bigger problems in the country and
we're going to have an investigation against Tish James over
which was a fair criminal case to bring against Trump,
even if it was obviously politically motivated, Even if it
was a case that would never have been brought. It's
not for the fact that it was Trump. He did

(15:51):
break the law. As minor as the law breaking was,
he did break the law. And this is you know,
this is the way New York is. All the cases
they bring. Why did puff Daddy gets charged with something
that normally, you know, the head of a mafia family
gets charged.

Speaker 7 (16:06):
With This is this is New York.

Speaker 5 (16:08):
It's a waste of time. We've got a Muslim terrorist
about to take over the city, and this is what
Trump is concerned about.

Speaker 1 (16:14):
Come on, man, One last thing, a federal judges ordering
ice in the Trump Department of Homeland Security to improve
conditions for people being held in Lower Manhattan. What do
you make of that?

Speaker 5 (16:27):
I mean, suddenly, when there's illegal immigrants involved, Larry, suddenly
we're very concerned about their jail conditions. We weren't so
concerned about it in the MDC and the MCC until
Epstein killed himself. For some reason, those two dumpy jails,
one of them, the MCC didn't get closed until Epstein
off himself. Now, all of a sudden, because we've got

(16:48):
illegals that are concerned, you know, come on, man, I mean,
if it's we should be more concerned about the inmates
that are Americans and that are awaiting trial, aren't even
convicted yet. They should be the ones we should be
concerned about first. I don't suggest for a second that
the Ice lockup isn't absolutely nauseating, But so is Riker's Island,
so is every other jail. They're all bad, and let's

(17:09):
not just focus on the illegals. Let's focus on the
American citizens that are accused and not even convicted yet.

Speaker 1 (17:14):
Great point, Jeffrey Lickman, get inside, high profile criminal defense attorney,
host of Beyond the Legal Limit podcast found on the
iHeart radio app Have fun and have fun in Italy.

Speaker 5 (17:24):
Jeffrey, thanks for having me, Larry Sure.

Speaker 1 (17:27):
Jeffrey Lickman. I will be here again, same time next week.
Who knew you could sleep the wrong way? I thought
sleeping was one of those things we all just did
and there was no right or wrong way. But I
apparently am wrong. Doctor Gregory Poland is the health and
medical expert who is a leader in vaccines and infectious

(17:48):
diseases at the Mayo Clinic. He's also president of the
Atria Research Institute right here in New York, City, doctor Polwan,
thank you so much for joining us. Good morning to you.

Speaker 7 (17:58):
Always a pleasure.

Speaker 1 (18:00):
So how do I sleep wrong?

Speaker 7 (18:03):
Most Americans do. It's pretty surprising that we don't know.
Here are typical things. Stop looking at screens before you
go to bed, or even worse, when you're lying in
bed getting ready to go to sleep. The room should
be darkened, no light. You might want some so called

(18:25):
white noise in the background. It should be on the
cool side. And the best position to sleep in is
on your side, not on your back.

Speaker 1 (18:37):
Doctor Paulin, nobody does any of those things.

Speaker 7 (18:41):
That's the problem. And you know, we do have a
lot of sleep problems. We are a nation of chronically
tired people. And in its worst manifestation is this concept
or diagnosis of sleep apnea, which is about thirty to
forty and people in the US experience well.

Speaker 1 (19:04):
Describe what sleep apne is first.

Speaker 7 (19:06):
Well, this is the collapse of the airway and so
you see symptoms like snoring, waking up with a dry
mouth because of mouth breathing. Interestingly enough, insomnia and daytime sleepiness, irritability,
and the risk of this is of cardiovascular disease. A

(19:27):
recent study showed about a fifty percent increase risk of
cognitive issues, diabetes, depression, obesity. So it's a it's a
diagnosis that carries significant issues with it, but it's treated
by using SEPAP, by using positive pressure air to keep

(19:50):
that airway open. But in kind of a fun study,
a recent investigator published a study on conk shell blowing.
That's right, a counkshell and found on.

Speaker 1 (20:03):
The beach like you see that in the movies.

Speaker 7 (20:06):
Yeah, Regularly doing that over about a six month time
period significantly improved sleep mild to moderate sleep apnea. And
there's a new drug that's coming out called ad one
oh nine, which seems to keep the airway from collapsing.
This is important because a lot of people avoid getting

(20:29):
evaluated for sleep apnea because they say, I don't want
a machine on my face forcing me to breathe right,
and we.

Speaker 1 (20:35):
Want a cunkshell. It sounds like an elaborate, practical joke,
doesn't it telling people to go get a cop shell.

Speaker 2 (20:43):
Can't you do some kind of breathing exercises like the
thing they gave you after a surgery, You know those.

Speaker 1 (20:48):
Things you blow into with the ball flying up and
that the same.

Speaker 7 (20:51):
Gotta be a conk shell.

Speaker 1 (20:53):
Okay, you're right.

Speaker 7 (20:57):
If this or April first, you'd have reason to be right. No,
I think you're right that that anything where you have
to purse the lips and blow out hard is going
to activate and strengthen those upper airway muscles. And that
seems to be the common denominator under lying sleep.

Speaker 2 (21:19):
So it's breath it's breathing.

Speaker 1 (21:21):
I can't just blow up a balloon. Then, well he
said it doesn't.

Speaker 4 (21:28):
He just said differently right now though, But so I
have to go back to you saying, which I thought
was really interesting, that sleeping on your side is the
best position.

Speaker 2 (21:38):
Is that also because of airway you know openings?

Speaker 7 (21:42):
Okay, yes, back sleeping is probably the worst, mixed reviews
on stomach sleeping, but side sleeping definitely the best.

Speaker 1 (21:52):
So you're telling me now that if I don't look
at my phone laying in bed, and that if I
turn to my and put all the lights out, I'm
gonna probably live longer. And conksll and.

Speaker 7 (22:07):
Put your down take your conk shell to bed.

Speaker 1 (22:16):
Well, that would be interesting, the conk shell in bed. No,
I don't think people take their sleep seriously enough. And
I and the other biggest problem, especially for Natalie and
I and everybody that works on the show, is that
we don't get enough sleep and that must cause some
major problems as well.

Speaker 7 (22:37):
Oh no, no question, third shift workers, for you guys
that are getting up very early to get to work,
if you don't plan your life well around getting an
adequate amount of sleep and ensuring that you do so,
no question that there are negative health effects of that.

Speaker 1 (22:58):
Man, this is the most depressing, Doctor Paul, And usually
I have a great time with you, and you're just
telling me now all the ways I'm gonna die for
people who.

Speaker 2 (23:07):
Don't for people who don't get a really good night sleep,
And it could be because of their hours, it could
be because of children, or just they don't sleep well.

Speaker 1 (23:16):
Are naps helpful.

Speaker 7 (23:18):
In that you know? Thanks for bringing that up, Natalie, Yes,
they are. In fact, a nap no longer than about
twenty minutes can actually be very helpful. Longer than twenty
minutes you actually start accruing negative effects from well.

Speaker 1 (23:35):
Thanks for joining us, doctor Paul and doctor Mau because
he might not be here next week. Who does a
twenty minute nap? Seriously, who really does a twenty minute nap?

Speaker 7 (23:47):
You know, I can't nap at all. If I nap,
I'm sleepy the rest of the day.

Speaker 1 (23:54):
Let's move on to the to the topic I was
also trying to avoid, how you say congestion pricing is
actually helping us that has health has health benefits as well.
You realize many people in this city hate congestion pricing.

Speaker 7 (24:11):
I know, I know. I mean, I'm in Manhattan a
week every month and I get an earfull of it.
But I must say it's a lot more pleasant walking
around Manhattan. So here's what they found. Not surprisingly, noise
complaints decreased by seventy percent, and you know, noise pollutions

(24:32):
op rated. Yeah, carbon pollution went down two and a
half percent, walking went up almost ten percent. And importantly,
again not surprising, I guess car crashes and injuries to
pedestrians decreased by fifty percent five zero. So, you know,

(24:53):
I know it's controversial. I know it's been a problem
for some people, but their benefits to having less cars
on the road and doing more walking.

Speaker 1 (25:05):
You're really bat in the thousand. Let's move into an
ex one hell hand, soap's gonna kill us too.

Speaker 7 (25:11):
It's still of you know, interesting information, right, there's a
New Jersey company. They sell their hand soap products under
the moniker of Derma Clean, Derma Right Clean Foam, Terry Genie.
These are soaps that often have something like vitamin E

(25:31):
or a preservative in them, that are contaminated with a
common bacteria called Burkeholderia. But it's an opportunistic bacteria, meaning
that in people who are immunocompromised, particularly who have lung issues,
it can be a deadly infection leading to pneumonia and

(25:53):
sepsis and septic shock. The problem with this particular bacteria
is that it is multiply drug resistant. So the manufacturer
did the right thing issuing a recall of Evidently four
lots of their products are thought to be contaminated. So

(26:14):
again look for Derma Clean, Derma Right Clean Foam, or
Perry Jeanie and if you have those products, return them
to where you got them.

Speaker 1 (26:22):
Well, that was very important information. You made a big
comeback right there at the end. Nice job. Thank you
so much. Doctor Gregory pold in health and medical expert
who is a leader in vaccines and infectious diseases at
the Mayo Clinic and he's also president. That's what I'm
sure while you're in town once a week at the
Atria Research Institute in New York, Doctor Poland, thanks so much,

(26:47):
Thank you,
