Speaker 1 (00:00):
Good morning. Tell you hope you had a great weekend.
A lot going on today. Wow over the weekend news
drop left and right. Let's start with this. In the
Big three, Eric Adams is out of the race.

Speaker 2 (00:14):
I cannot continue my re election campaign. The constant media
speculation about my future and the campaign finance boys decision
to with whole millions of dollars have undermined my ability
to raise the funds needed for a serious campaign.

Speaker 1 (00:34):
We, of course, I'll be talking about this all morning.
Can't wait to see the first polls out after this happened.
There's a lot of attention on all the other candidates.
Weve reaction from zorin Mam Donnie wove At, reaction from
Andrew Cuomo. And we have Republican candidate for mayor, Curtis
Lee with his reaction live here at nine to oh five.

(00:55):
Will he drop out next? We will ask him and
after a new poll shows the New Jersey race for
governor is tied. It is followed by another scandal for
Democratic candidate for governor Mikey Cheryl, as military records show
she was disciplined for covering for others who cheated on

(01:18):
their final exams.

Speaker 3 (01:20):
She was not allowed to participate in her graduation ceremony.
She was punished by the Naval Academy and saying that
she was covering her friends is code for a line
to investigators. And so she needs to come clean and
she can very easily do that by approving the release
of her disciplinary records, but she won't do that, which
strongly suggests that she'll continue to lie about this issue.

Speaker 1 (01:43):
Now you know, Cheryl has already been reprimanded by Congress
for using her position to enrich herself with lucrative stock deals.
Her campaign is now on life support. We're going to
talk with Newest Jersey columnist Mike Kelly about this coming
up and a little bit. A study of the brain

(02:04):
of the Park Avenue mass shooting gunman Shane Tomorra shows
he did, in fact suffer from t CTE from concussions
playing football.

Speaker 4 (02:17):
It certainly could be a contributing factor. And to me,
when this happened, I thought, like so many in my field,
that there's really an ever increasing urgency for us to
look more into this relationship between hits to the head
and a likelihood for violent behavior and mental illness later
on in life.

Speaker 1 (02:37):
Are we close to a piece deal in Gaza. President
Trump hinted at that that would end the war at
least for the time being, between Israel and Hamas.

Speaker 5 (02:48):
I think it's a deal that will get the hostages back.
It's got to be a deal that will end the war.
It's got to be a deal.

Speaker 6 (02:56):
With it's got to be a peace.

Speaker 5 (02:57):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (02:58):
We don't have any details of that possible deal or
if any of or all of the hostages will be
released yet. We'll be talking about that throughout the morning.
Another mass shooting, this one at a Mormon church in Michigan.
The shooter also set fire to the church.

Speaker 7 (03:15):
We believed that that was deliberately set by this suspect.
We do believe that we will find additional victims once
we have that scene secured.

Speaker 1 (03:28):
Yeah, and that has happened. Two more bodies have been found,
bringing the death toll now there till four. The shooter,
Thomas Jacob Sandford, was killed by police at the scene,
making a total of five dead. Finally, former FBI director
James Comy is charged with two federal charges for lying

(03:49):
that the Trump campaign colluded with the Russians in the
twenty sixteen presidential election. President Trump understands that city like
Memphis need federal resources. He understands what the city. That's
not him at all. That's the mayor of Memphis, very excited,
extremely excited that troops are coming to his city. Nobody

(04:15):
else is excited about it except for the governor of Tennessee.
In Portland. Now they're talking about sending troops in Chicago again.
They're talking about sending troops. So stay tuned. This is
going to get really really interesting. And the Jackson Dart
era has begun. Here's a run again by Dark first

(04:38):
and Tendo taking in his first corio touchdown how much
times on top. The rookie quarterback leads the Giants to
their first win of the season over the Los Angeles Chargers.
The Legend Warner Wolf will talk about Jackson Dart's debut
coming up at seven thirty five. But let's talk about

(05:00):
the mayoral race, shall we. Things just got really interesting.
And by the way, if you want to chime in
on the mayoral race, go to the iHeartRadio app leave
us a talkback. You could win a limited edition MENTI
in the Morning t shirt, which will be awarded every
day to our favorite talkback of the morning. And while
you're on the free iHeartRadio app, be sure to set

(05:20):
a preset for seven to ten wo R. All right, now,
let's talk about it. We had surmised for a while
that this might happen, and then for some reason it
looked like it wasn't going to happen. If I would
have stuck to my guns, I would have looked like
a genius, because I said a couple of months ago, no,
he's right, he's jumping out. He's definitely getting out. And

(05:41):
then I, you know, I got to the end and
I'm thinking, no, maybe he's not. Maybe he's he's really
gonna stick this out. But no, Mayor Adams is now
officially out of the mayor's race.

Speaker 2 (05:53):
Major change is welcome and necessary. To beware of those
who claim the answer to destroyed the very system we
built together over generations. That is not changed, That is chaos. Instead,
I urged New York to u choose leaders not by
what they promised, but by what they have delivered.

Speaker 1 (06:18):
I'll tell you what that was an endorsement of Andrew Cuomo.
He never said his name, he never said mom Donnie's name,
but what he was talking about, of course, to beware
of those with no experience who promised the world and
can't deliver. That was Mom, Donnie. And the somebody that
has experience that could do a better job, that of
course was Andrew Cuomo. So we never came out and

(06:40):
said it, but that's what he was saying there. What
I take it out of my head is Curtis Leiwa
from last week. Remember when he came out and he said,
I was offered a bribe and I'm not going to
take it. Curtis Leewa can't be bribed. And then he
said this.

Speaker 8 (06:58):
I anticipated any moment Eric Adams will have determined that
the price is.

Speaker 5 (07:05):
Right and he'll be bowing out now.

Speaker 1 (07:08):
If there is a job and or money involved, we
may never know about it, because I think everybody's too
smart for that to happen right away. The money will
probably never know about if there was any money involved,
and we can't even assume we're alleged that that's true.
But the job, if there's a job for him, my

(07:31):
feeling would be it would be he would get it
after he left office, so it wouldn't be for months
for now. But let's get some reactions, shall we. Let's
get Andrew Cuomo.

Speaker 9 (07:42):
I applaud his selflessness.

Speaker 1 (07:45):
You know, we often wonder is it.

Speaker 5 (07:48):
About us or is it about a greater calling?

Speaker 2 (07:53):
And I think what Mayor Adams said today speaks a volumes.

Speaker 1 (07:58):
So he's thrilled because he's assuming he's going to get
all of his votes, and all of his votes means
anything from nine percent, which was the last poll showed
up until twelve percent possibly, and that's not going to
be enough to beat Mom Donnie. He's going to need
more than that. Now here's what I'm really disappointed by,

(08:20):
more than anything else. Don't you think that zorin Mom
Donnie would be thrilled by this and rather than kick
a guy when he's down, talk about Mayor Adams in
glowing terms, say how much he appreciates this and what

(08:43):
a difficult move it was for him. Now he decided
he was going to kick a man when he's down.

Speaker 6 (08:50):
I think the race continues to be the same as
it was, where it's a race between us and the
failed politics that we've seen, whether it's Andrew Cuomore, Eric Adams.

Speaker 1 (08:58):
Yeah, so he talked about the failed policies. He believes
they're teaming up on him right now. That's what's going on,
but he just kept kicking at Eric Adams. And Eric
Adams is gone. Eric Adams, he's not running against anymore.

Speaker 6 (09:14):
This is a mayor who raised the rent by twelve
percent on more than two million New Yorkers, a mayor
who priced New Yorkers further out of childcare, a mayor
who has time and time again exacerbated a cost of
living crisis, whether by raising the water bill or supporting
Connitison when they wanted to raise gas and electric. And
so I wouldn't take advice on addressing that same crisis
from the man who's been inflaming it time and time again.

Speaker 1 (09:35):
To me, that's classless. To me, it's disappointing that he
couldn't rise to the occasion and say something too nice
about the former mayor, say something nice about a guy
he's not running against anymore. He gets nothing out of
that except just to kick a man when he's down.

(09:56):
He's got to know I thought he was brighter than that.
He's got to know when to turn that off. But
apparently he doesn't love to know what you feel about
the race. Go to the iHeartRadio app and leave us
a talk back. You could win a mentee in the
morning T shirt. Why did country music icon Dolly Parton
cancel her Laus Vegas residency. We'll explain after the break. Plus,

(10:19):
the Super Bowl halftime show performer has just been revealed.
Is it Tailor that's coming up next? I'll tell you what.
If Curtis Lee has been listening to the show, he
has to be thrilled because caller after caller after caller
has said that it is Cuomo that has to drop out.

(10:45):
Cuomo has to drop out and not CURTISLIWA. They're saying
this makes it a chance that Curtis Leewa could win.
And even if Cuomo stays in the race, they say
this helps curtisly will become the next mayor of New
York City. So how does he feel about it? Well,
let's go at Curtis Lee, well, Republican candidate for New

(11:08):
York City Mayor. Curtis, this is a good day for you,
isn't it?

Speaker 5 (11:13):
Oh? Absolutely? Okay?

Speaker 8 (11:16):
One down, two more to go. And we knew that
Eric Adams was one and done. He was playing Monty Hall.
Let's make a deal. And finally Bob Barker announced that
the price was right for him yesterday.

Speaker 5 (11:29):
To drop out back.

Speaker 8 (11:30):
I'm Citty right here on a park bench on sixty
thirty fifth checking my messages, and I'm learning all the billionaires.

Speaker 5 (11:37):
Who live here.

Speaker 8 (11:38):
You can't bribe me. Thirty six days to go. Let
the people decide who's going to be the mayor.

Speaker 1 (11:47):
Let me play something for you. This is a talkback
we got when people started getting the news.

Speaker 10 (11:52):
I am so elated that Eric Adams finally came to
his senses and dropped out of this race. Now we
need to consolidate against Sorrin Mandami. We need Andrew Cuomo
to do the same thing. Drop out of this race,
put your ego aside. We can't let Mondami win this race.

(12:14):
We need Curtis Sliwa. And I'm a Democrat and I
am pulling for Curtis Sliwa. He could save New York.

Speaker 5 (12:22):
Want to react to that absolutely.

Speaker 8 (12:26):
Remember Cromo had his shot forty points ahead Democratic primary,
mailed it in from the Hamptons with his billionaire supporters,
got trounced, and he's not even out in the streets.

Speaker 5 (12:37):
Larry, I mean, thirty six days left.

Speaker 8 (12:39):
You got to be going twenty hours a day, and
that's exactly what I do. And now that Eric Adams
is out, there's only one law in Norder Kennedy tuch
me because Andrew Cuomo and Joran Mondami share the same values.

Speaker 5 (12:52):
They're for no cash bail, They're for the age, and we.

Speaker 8 (12:55):
Just had a report that the juvenile crime has never
been higher. They both want to close Rikers Island. They
both support cop killers. In fact, it was Andrew Como's
parole board that released forty six cop killers in just
eight years, and of course Johan.

Speaker 5 (13:11):
Mandami cheered that on.

Speaker 8 (13:13):
So if I'm the only law and Order kennidate who
wants to hire seven thousand cops, get the cops actually
patrolling on the moving subway cars, bring back the homeless
unit of the NYPD they used to handle the emotionally
disturbed and the homeless, and more importantly, deal with quality
of life visiers. I'm the only one who can do that.
Clomo can't do that. He caused this crisis with no

(13:35):
cash fail.

Speaker 1 (13:36):
Well, here's the thing, So it's not just the callers,
it's not just the talkback because they're probably mostly conservative
except that one gentleman that I just played, and they're
probably mostly Republican. Natalie Migliori went out and did her
beat on the street and she talked to New Yorkers.
There were several New Yorkers who said the same thing.

(13:56):
They said that now that Eric Adams has dropped out out,
they're looking more seriously at Curtis Sliewa because they believe
crime is the number one issue and they believe that
you can tackle crime in the city. You are you
getting the same reaction on the streets.

Speaker 5 (14:15):
Oh? Absolutely.

Speaker 8 (14:16):
Yesterday at the Third Avenue Festival, I was there for
five hours and that's all people were saying. I remember
that area of Bay Ridge has now split fifty to fifty.
There are a lot of Zorin Easter is there now.
It's not an all red area, it's a purple area.
So I'd love to go to the Zoron areas where
he beat Clomo convincingly in the primary and do my

(14:37):
campaigning because that's where you get a lot of feedback.
And I think even some of the Zorin Easters supporters
of Zoran realized when it comes to crime, boy, that's
his achilles heel. Every time he's asked the question, Like
The New York Times said, you're gonna apologize to the
cops for calling them racist and homophobes. He said, I
would hasn't done it since, and yet every day he's protective.

(14:59):
I m NYPD police officers. That is his vulnerability, that's
his achilles heal. Cuomo cannot go at him on those
issues on the debate stage because he's just as.

Speaker 5 (15:10):
Culpable and guilty.

Speaker 8 (15:12):
Only I can go at it, and I'm gonna go
at that two headed hydra of Cuomo and Zohan Mandami.
If not for Eric Adams, they wouldn't been a Zoran Mondomi.

Speaker 5 (15:21):
If not for Cuomo's no.

Speaker 8 (15:23):
Cash bail, it would be it would be a safe
for New York State and safe for New York City, I'll.

Speaker 1 (15:29):
Tell you what. We also got to talk back saying
that Steven A. Smith was on Good Morning America this
morning calling for you to drop out of the race.
Is there any shot of that at happening at all?

Speaker 9 (15:39):
Hey, Stephen A.

Speaker 5 (15:40):
Smith is afraid to have me on his show.

Speaker 8 (15:43):
You know he's a Cuomo sexual, totally tied into Clomo.
Why doesn't he have me on his show? Because Stephen A.
Smith should stick to sports, you know nothing about the politics,
stick with ESPN, or invite Curtis Leewa into the and
watch me just run circles around Stephen A.

Speaker 5 (16:04):
Smith.

Speaker 1 (16:05):
I was going to ask you about preparing for debates,
but your whole life has been about preparing for debates.
It is going to be interesting, It's going to be important,
probably more important now than it has ever been. What
do you expect it sounds to me. It seems to
me that Cuomo and Mam Donnie are going to go
after each other. Are you going to go after both

(16:26):
of them or just Mamdani.

Speaker 8 (16:28):
Well, To be honest with you, Larry, if they do that,
if they get to be like kids in a schoolyard,
I take the high road. I talk about who I
am and what I've done and what my policies will
be that are totally different than both of them. Remember
they're the Democrats. They've led to this catastrophe. The Democrats
let the Socialists in and the Socialists took over the

(16:50):
party without even a fight. And Angel Cuomo was the
governor when he allowed that to occur. Eric Adams was
so corrupt that he should have been in jail with
Say Bobby Menendez, go Bob Menendez, And you say to yourself, Larry,
If you want to blame anybody for this catastrophe, blame
the Democratic Party. I represent patriotism. I represent making sure

(17:13):
that the kids get an education.

Speaker 5 (17:14):
With a forty one billion.

Speaker 8 (17:16):
Dollar bloated budget, where two thirds of the fourth gradest
can't even read, write and do arithmetic and grade level.
This has got to stop, Larry. The Democrats had their chance.
They destroy the state. They're out to destroy the city,
and I'm the only thing stopping them from doing that.

Speaker 1 (17:32):
Well, I can tell your pomp do you're more excited
than you have been in a long time. And I
know that our listeners are pumped as well. They'd love
to help. How can they help?

Speaker 8 (17:42):
All they need to do is go to sliwa for
NYC dot com that sliwer f o r NYC dot com.

Speaker 5 (17:51):
I promise all your faithful listeners.

Speaker 8 (17:53):
I will never ever end up dropping out the fact
of the word of the Great John Paul Jones, father
of our US Navy.

Speaker 5 (18:03):
On this day, thirty six days out thirty six nights, Larry,
I have just begun to fight fight fight fight.

Speaker 3 (18:12):
Ah.

Speaker 1 (18:12):
Yeah, quoted Donald Trump there at the end, too. Nice job,
Curtis Leewah. The now re energize. Curtis leewa Republican candidate
for New York City mayor. Goodlock, good luck, Curtis. I
hope to talk to you again soon.

Speaker 5 (18:27):
Yeah.

Speaker 8 (18:27):
I'm looking for the billionaires. We are trying to bribe me, Larry,
not just shout out guys, shake the money.

Speaker 1 (18:33):
If you find any, tell them I'll take the money.
Let's get to Warner Wolf, legendary sportscaster with us every
Monday at seven thirty five. This is exciting, Warner. The
Giants fans have something to cheer for, something to watch.

Speaker 9 (18:48):
Well, time out before you say Jackson dart is the
most is the next Eli Manning or Phil Soon or
Ya Tittle. The fact is he had only one hundred
and eleven yards passing. That's fair. That is not gonna

(19:09):
win many ball games. The Giants had only one touchdown
drive the entire game. The other touchdown drive was only
three yards, set up by an interception. The fact is
the defense won the game. So hold off on jack

(19:30):
the Dark one hundred and eleven yard I'm not gonna
make it.

Speaker 1 (19:34):
Larry, Yeah, he just here's something about him that's fun
to watch. There's something about him that's exciting. And I
don't think Giants fans have had anything to watch.

Speaker 9 (19:44):
I agree with that. Yeah, sure, anything would have been
an improvement.

Speaker 1 (19:49):
That's true. That's true.

Speaker 9 (19:52):
So the Jets two and a half point underdog in
Miami tonight. Baseball, it's not how much you spend, but
how you spend it. Steve Cohen and the Mets had
the highest payroll in baseball history, three hundred and thirty
three million dollars and didn't make the playoffs. You know
who did make the playoffs? Teams like Cleveland. Their payroll

(20:16):
is only one hundred million, Cincinnati one hundred and sixteen million,
Detroit one hundred and forty million. You got to know
how to spend it, man, And oh, this is why
NFL coaches hire at least ten assistant coaches. After the

(20:36):
Falcons were blown out last week by Carolina thirty to nothing.
Did the Falcons fire the head coach. No? Did they
fire the offensive coordinator? No? They fired the wide receivers. Coach.
Coach says, don't blame me, no, And how about this,

(21:00):
what have you done for me lately? The bull of
the league goes to the athletic director of Oklahoma State.
They fired their longtime successful head coach Mike Gundy, who
had eighteen consecutive winning seasons. He was eighty games over
five hundred. Oklahoma State was now paid Gundy fifteen million

(21:23):
dollars not to coach Oklahoma State and the robot manager
in Baseball of the Week, no complete games on my watch,
no Robot. Red Sox manager Alex Cora took out his starter,
left handed Garrett Crochet, who is now eighteen and five

(21:47):
and a candidate for Lesaion Award, after eight innings with
a seven to nothing lead of leveling only three hits
against the Jays. Why because he threw one hundred pitches, Hey, Robot,
Let the man try and get three more outs and
help him win the Cy Young Award. All right, you're

(22:07):
ready for the oh the three stooges. I got one,
I've got one at a time.

Speaker 5 (22:13):
All right, do you want a movie review?

Speaker 9 (22:15):
First? Now?

Speaker 1 (22:16):
Three is?

Speaker 9 (22:18):
Oh? Well? First of all, the heckling fans at Beth
Page during the Ryder Cup, even as players were ready
to take the shots, New York State troopers were brought in.
Two fans were ejected. You know what. They should be
banned from all golf tournaments for life stooge number two

(22:43):
Mississippi coach Lane Kiffin, who when asked who would win
this past Saturday's LSU Mississippi game after it was revealed
that his daughter dates an LSU linebacker, he said, take
the over. He told the fans to take the over.

(23:06):
That's based on the total points scored between the two teams.
The over was fifty seven and a half. The final
score was twenty four to nineteen Mississippi. That's only forty
three points. So the coach all his followers took the
coach's tip and lost. So if you took the over,

(23:27):
you lost. You can't do that. You're the coach. It
stug's number three New York Times writer Adam Sternberg, whose
headline said upon his return that Jimmy Kimmel rose to
the occasion, rose to the occasion. What were you watching?

(23:49):
Kimmel never once said I'm sorry for lying, accusing the
magagam for Charlie Kirk's murder, and also said his comments
could have been misconstrued, misconstrued. What a phony you think?
He rose to the occasion? Man, what are you smoking?

(24:13):
All right? That's the three stooges. You're ready for a
movie review.

Speaker 1 (24:17):
Yes, although I know what you're going to review and
I've never watched it. Oh so sorry.

Speaker 9 (24:26):
Let me explain. It's the first time I went to
a movie in two years. I don't go to the theater,
you know. I watched Netflix or Turner Classic Movies, the
old movie sit at Home. I went to the movies
and saw Downton Abby Grand Finale two hours, three minutes.
I thought it was great. If you were a Downton

(24:46):
Abby fan of these six TV episodes, you'll think this
is fantastic. I don't want to give it away, excuse me,
but Lady Mary gets a divorce, which was a big
scandal in England in nineteen thirty and Lady Cora's American

(25:06):
brother played by Paul Giamatti, cost the whole family big
money with bad investments. But I would That's all I'm
going to say about it. I thought it was terrific.

Speaker 1 (25:17):
Yeah, I've heard nothing.

Speaker 9 (25:18):
Only this week in sports, Larry Okay, go ahead fifteen
years ago this week October the first, nineteen seventy five,
with a billion TV viewers that included the HBO. Everything
was paid per view then and movie theaters. You remember
you used to that movie theater pay and watch its

(25:39):
fight well. The champion Muhammad Ali and the challenger Joe
Fraser had their third fight, called The Thriller in Manila
in the Philippines, which ended after fourteen brutal rounds when
Fraser's manager, Eddie Futch would not let Fraser come out
from the fifteenth and final round. After the fight, Ali

(26:02):
who was ahead on all three scorecards by the way,
said it was the closest thing he had ever come
to death and that af Fraser had come out for
the fifteenth round, he would not have come out. Years later,
I asked Fraser if he thought his original manager, Yank Durham,
who died of a stroke two years before, would have

(26:24):
let him come out for the fifteenth round, and he
said yes.

Speaker 1 (26:29):
Wow, Dal, It's one of the most famous fights, if
not the most famous fight of all time. Water Wolf
legendary sportscaster with us every Monday at seven thirty five.
Thanks Water, Thank you.
