Speaker 1 (00:00):
Let's focus on NASA County and Long Island right now,
because they have a race for county executive going on.
Bruce Blakeman is the NASA County Executive. He's being challenged
by NASA County Legislator Seth Coslow, and we welcome Bruce
Blakeman to the show. Bruce, I can't imagine with the
job you've done that this is a serious challenge. But
(00:21):
I look here that no party has been able to
repeat after their party won the White House. That hasn't
happened since nineteen ninety three. It's a strange trend. Are
you worried about that at all?
Speaker 2 (00:37):
Not at all. I think the differences between me and
my opponent are very stark. He's for cashless bail, I'm not.
I've hired over six hundred law enforcement officers in the
last three and a half years, in addition to having
record levels at our police department, and we are named
the safest county in America. So I think people feel
(00:59):
very safe and secure in Nassau County. And I haven't
raised taxes one penny in four years, so I guess
his idea of good government is to raise taxes and
to toport cast list bail and to write crazy papers
saying that laws that protect women who have been raped
(01:20):
are unfair, saying that women desired and fantasized to be
raped and that's why they make false claims of rape.
I mean, just crazy stuff that this comes out of
this guy's mouth. I don't think that people are going
to buy it. I think that they understand that we
want to keep Nassau County safe, we want to keep
(01:40):
the taxes down, and to do that, they will vote
for me. And I'm very confident I'll be re elected tomorrow.
But I don't want anybody to get complacent. Right, you
go out and vote tomorrow.
Speaker 1 (01:51):
That's smart, That's very smart. You got a glowing recommendation
endorsement from Donald Trump on truth Social read the end
of this, but he listed a long list of accomplishments
and then said, NASA County, get out and vote. Election
day is Tuesday. Bruce Blakeman has my complete and total indorsement.
(02:14):
He will never let you down. What does that endorsement
mean to you, Well.
Speaker 2 (02:20):
It means a lot because President Trump is one of
the reasons why we are so safe, because he's allowed
us to partner with ice and just last month we
got forty seven illegal migrants with criminal records arrested. Twenty
eight of them were engaged in gang related activities. And
now they're off the streets of Nassau County. They're out
(02:43):
of the whole metropolitan area. They're not going to pray
on people, and you know, I appreciate that cooperation. In addition,
you know, bringing home the hostages in the Middle East,
bringing peace to the Middle East. The tariffs, I think
are a good thing in the long run because basically
we've got to start manufacturing stuff here in America. It'll
(03:04):
make us more secure and it'll create more jobs for
our middle class people. So I think that President Trump
has done a good job, and I'm very proud to
be associated with him.
Speaker 1 (03:16):
Yeah, I think his greatest accomplishment was the border. And
it's so funny because he did that so quickly. He
did it like in a weekend, showing how bad things
were under Biden, and it doesn't seem like people bring
that up, which I think was the greatest accomplishment he made.
Speaker 2 (03:31):
Do you agree one hundred percent? I mean, we've got
Governor hokel spending four billion dollars of our taxpayer dollars
over the last three and a half years on illegal migrants,
when we need money for schools, we need money for infrastructure,
we need money for hospitals. Spending that money on people,
buying them free food, getting them free transportation, giving them
(03:56):
free housing, and now giving them free law players to
try and keep them here in New York State. It's
just crazy. My opponent supports her. I think that basically
it makes us a less safe I mean, it makes
us a less secure state. And I want to make
us a safe county. And you know, I just feel
(04:17):
that that's the number one job of a public official
is to make sure that our neighborhoods are safe, that
we protect our children. And that's what I've been trying
to do. And I'm not taking the pedal off the metal, Larry. Today,
I'm signing an agreement with Tunnels to Tower Frank Ziller,
one of the great charities in America. We are taking
a hotel that was drug infested, that had prostitution, We're
(04:39):
transferring it to Tunnels to Towers, and they're going to
build fifty units of disabled veteran housing right here in
Island Park in Nassau County.
Speaker 1 (04:47):
That is just wonderful. That's great.
Speaker 2 (04:49):
We're good, We're going forward, and we're going to keep
doing good things.
Speaker 1 (04:53):
I know you must be watching, like the rest of
the country, the election in New York City. If Mom
Donnie comes mayor, how does that affect Nasa County at all?
Speaker 2 (05:05):
Well, it does because right now we have a great
working relationship with the NYPD. We share intelligence, we share assets,
we do joint operations together, we're on the Joint Terrors
and Task Force together. I'm afraid that he'll put people
in charge of NYPD that we won't be able to trust.
So I'm very concerned. And Commissioner pat Ryder and I
(05:28):
and District Attorney and Donnelly and I have talked about
a plan in the sad event that he might become
mayor to protect the residents of Nassau County, so we
will be prepared. We're hoping for the best in New
York City. We love New York City and we think
they deserve somebody other than someone who's a communist and
(05:49):
virulent anti Semite as Mandamius.
Speaker 1 (05:52):
I already know the answer to the question I'm going
to ask, but you can understand why I'm going to
ask it anyway, A lot of people are talking about
you as a GUBA and at two orial candidate. I
know you're going to take this one election at a time,
but is there any interest at all?
Speaker 2 (06:06):
Well, you know, here's the thing, as I said, I
just want to be the best county executive that I
can be, and then we'll see what happens in the future.
You know, so much depends on what goes on in Albany,
and there's only so much we can do as an
elected officials. So you know, I definitely feel we need
to change your leadership in Albany because with cashless bail,
(06:28):
we're giving billions of dollars to legal migrants to not
supporting our hospitals and our schools here in New York State.
I think we need a change. And again, I'm going
to take it one day at a time. I've got
an election tomorrow. I'm focused on that, and I'm focused
on being the best county executive I can be, and
that includes today and doing good things today.
Speaker 1 (06:49):
Well, i'll tell you what, it's smart, very smart that
you're keeping your eye on this election. And even though
you've had such great success in office and we're talking
about you all the time you've done in crime. It's
very smart that you're not taking this for granted. So
you just need people to get out and vote tomorrow.
Speaker 2 (07:09):
Absolutely, if you like what we've done, please come out
and vote for us tomorrow and vote Rope all the way.
The Republican candidates have the best vision for this county
to keep it normal, to keep it safe, and to
keep taxes down.
Speaker 1 (07:23):
Bruce, thank you so much for spending the time. Bruce Blakeman,
NASA County Executive, running for reelection. And if you do
it enough, you're at risk of diabetes, liver damage, heart attack,
and stroke. Weight cycling is when you lose
