Speaker 1 (00:00):
And good morning to you. Although it's beautiful here, it
is across the country. A pail has fallen over the country.
Because that's what leads off our Big three and the
Big Three. It has happened again, a mass shooting targeting
children from the Catholic school who were inside a church.
(00:23):
Two children died, seventeen injured.
Speaker 2 (00:27):
I just ran under the pew and then I covered
my head. My friend Victor like saved me though, because
he laid on top of me. But he got hit.
He's really brave and I hope he's good in the hospital.
Speaker 1 (00:41):
The murderer identified as twenty three year old Robin Westman,
who identifies as a woman but was born Robert Westman
and legally changed his name five years ago. Coming up
in a minute, we'll play just a few seconds of
his sick video manifesto that he recorded just before the shooting.
There have been five shootings in the Bronx in a
(01:04):
twenty four hour span. The last thing we need now
is a soft on crime socialist as mayor. We need
a crime fighter.
Speaker 3 (01:12):
I'm dealing with what is becoming the number one issue, crime,
public safety, and quality of life. I'm the expert in
that field. These other three candidates have failed the public
in that regard.
Speaker 1 (01:23):
And how about this In the nation's capital, the Democratic
mayor is now admitting that the federal involvement in fighting
crime has worked.
Speaker 4 (01:32):
The difference between this period, this twenty day period of
this federal surge and last year represents a eighty seven
percent reduction in carjackings in Washington, DC. We know that
when carjackings go down, when the use of gun goes down,
(01:52):
when homicide or robbery go down, neighborhoods feel safer and
are safer.
Speaker 1 (02:00):
How about that it worked? And New York is getting
new trains and a new Penn station at record speed
thanks to Donald Trump. So what should the new station
be called?
Speaker 5 (02:12):
I imagine you're asking, is this going to be Trump's station?
I think that is a nice ring to it. But listen,
we're all working on building this project and get into town,
and if trying to have a conversation about name changes,
that's a conversation that could happen at some other point.
Speaker 1 (02:27):
So now let's talk more about the shooting in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
It was a church filled with children from a Catholic school.
It was their first day of school and they were
there to celebrate that. Believe me, I went to Catholic
grade school. I've been through this before. I you know,
(02:50):
you go to church to start the school year all
of the time. And little did they know there was
going to be some coward, some sick of that had
who knows what he had on his mind. He did
leave a video manifesto and he showed all the guns
he was going to use. And it's hard to even
(03:12):
talk about, but written on the guns were for the children,
where is your God now? And one said kill Donald Trump.
So this is a twenty three year old man with
some severe problems, severe mental health problems. And this is
(03:35):
a little bit of that manifesto, that video manifesto. It's
been taken down by authorities. It's being studied right now
by the FBI. But KTSP in Minneapolis was able to
get a portion of it to Marrow.
Speaker 3 (03:56):
I'm sorry to my family, but that's it.
Speaker 6 (04:02):
That's the only people.
Speaker 2 (04:03):
I'm sorry to those kids.
Speaker 1 (04:07):
I'm not sorry to those kids. I'm not sorry to
those kids. There was something wrong with him. There was
something wrong with him for a long time, and nobody
saw it. They have a huge mental health problem in
this country, and nobody addresses it. As a matter of fact,
the mental mentally ill were protected through laws that were
(04:31):
passed under It was a Hillary Clinton when she was
Senators pushed a law to protect the privacy of the
mentally ill. And now they're out there and there's not
much they can be reported on them unless they show
themselves a danger. And this guy never had any run
(04:51):
ins with the law before, and so he created terror,
killing two children, injuring fourteen, injuring three adults. And man,
these kids are gonna have to live with this the
rest of their lives.
Speaker 7 (05:07):
As that church, and then I heard something like really low,
like I thought it was fireworks in the church. And
then when I saw the shooting, and I was like,
oh my gosh, I'm so scared. And so a teacher
lay me downstairs to like the like preschool classio, and
(05:27):
so I went.
Speaker 1 (05:27):
There and one of the children was saved, he says,
by a friend who laid on top of him.
Speaker 2 (05:35):
My friend got hit in the back.
Speaker 3 (05:38):
Did you go to the hospital.
Speaker 2 (05:39):
Yeah, he went to the hospital.
Speaker 6 (05:41):
What went through your mind when we saw that?
Speaker 2 (05:43):
I was super scared for him. And there I was
like two seats away from this chain glass windows. They
were like the shots were like right next to me.
Speaker 1 (05:53):
I love the police commissioner that was out there. I
just I thought he was the hero of this whole thing.
I did love how he just called Robert Westman constantly,
just called him the coward. Wouldn't call him anything else,
just a coward.
Speaker 8 (06:12):
The coward that shot these victims took his own life
in the rear of the church. That coward has been
identified as twenty three year old Robin Westman. No prior criminal.
Speaker 1 (06:25):
History, right, that's the problem. No prior criminal history. And
he had been planning this for a long time. He
had been buying guns and since he had no criminal history,
he could get guns pretty easily. And because you know,
and he'd obviously had mental health problems, but because that's private,
he can go out and then get as many guns
as he wanted. Somebody had to see that this kid
(06:47):
had a problem for a long time, for a long time.
This could have been much worse, could have been much
much worse. The teachers were amazing protecting these kids. Other kids,
as you heard a moment ago, were protecting other kids.
That should be celebrated.
Speaker 9 (07:07):
Within seconds of this situation beginning Our teachers were heroes.
Children were duck down. Adults were protecting children. Older children
are protecting younger children. And as we heard earlier, it
could have been significantly worse without their heroic action.
Speaker 1 (07:24):
Yeah, forget the homicidal idiot that did this. The teachers
were heroes. Other kids were heroes. Neighbors who heard the
shooting and rushed to the place, they were heroes.
Speaker 10 (07:36):
The girl that was hit in the head, she was alured,
although it looked a lot we looked, didn't look like
a great injury by any means, and she just asked
me to continue to hold her hand, and she wanted
her mom, and I reassured her that I do everything
(07:57):
I could to get to her mom, but we needed
to stay there wait for the police and the ambulance
to come.
Speaker 1 (08:03):
That was Pat Scalen who got there before the emergency workers.
He lived in a house nearby. He heard gunfire and
he ran to the gunfire. He ran to see if
he could help. He knew the gunfire was coming from
the church, he knew there were children involved, and even
though he didn't know if there was still an active shooter,
(08:26):
he didn't know what he was going to face. He
ran to that. There were heroes on this day, So
let's focus on them and the children and not this
scumbag who was allowed to just fester violence. Was a loner, family,
(08:51):
wasn't that much involved in his life. Obviously had problems.
But what did people do now when somebody has obvious
mental health problem? What do people do now? They try
to avoid them, They don't try to help, and they
don't get involved. They isolate them, making them ticking time bombs.
(09:12):
We gotta we gotta change in this country. Now. Look,
I know many of your thoughts go immediately to what
about the guns. Uh, it's that's it's just not going
to change. And by the way, there are millions, millions
(09:38):
of legal gun owners in this country that would never
do something like this. It's not always the gun, it's
the it's the sickos that get them. And look, that's
not going to stop just because you get rid of
some assault rifles. They'll use something else. Somebody that wants
(09:58):
to create, somebody that wants to kill people is going
to find a way. It's happened throughout history. It happened
before there were any guns. It's the way it's always been.
When we come back in a little while, in about
an hour, we're going to talk about the long history
(10:20):
of people with mental illness committing these crimes. Well, that
didn't take long, by the way. The Giants cut quarterback
and fan favorite Tommy DeVito and he's immediately picked up
by another team. We'll tell you where he ended up next. Well,
thanks so much for your talkbacks. It is a It
is a day to talk things out, isn't it, Because
(10:41):
we're all just shocked and saddened by what happened at Minneapolis.
So if you want to get something off your chest,
go ahead to the iHeartRadio app look for seven to
ten woor and the talkback feature, and then we put
you in the air.
Speaker 11 (10:56):
I can't even think about it. It's painful when that
happened yesterday. I'll tell you I was destroyed all day.
I just can't believe it. But once again, a lot
of people failed. How could an animal like that.
Speaker 12 (11:13):
Get through life without anybody noticing there's a problem. How
could nobody know this guy was dangerous? Once again, mental
it's a mental issue. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (11:25):
I understand the anger, I really do. But this happens
all the time, all of the time. All the school shootings,
if you think about them, all the school shootings, it's
some kid that was isolated, some kid that was different,
some kid that obviously had mental health problems. Maybe a
couple of them that found each other, like in Columbine,
(11:49):
but they were isolated. The cool kids didn't like them.
But even when they get out of school, even when
they get out of school, if they're a little bit different,
people don't accept them. And so it's not that nobody notices,
it's that nobody cares. It's that when you see someone different,
(12:09):
when you see someone struggling, when you see some of
that has difficulty making friends, instead of reaching out to them,
people isolate them time and time and time again, and
that eats at them. I mean, there's other mental health
problems and that's not caused by society, but it makes
(12:30):
it worse. It makes it worse when these people feel isolated,
when they feel like there's no way out, when they
feel like there's no future. I'm not making excuses for
this animal at all. I'm not making excuses for them
at all. I mean, there's no reason to feel isolated,
(12:52):
to feel alone, and then to shoot up kids, And
that manifesto is sick. The manifest saying that he was
going to kill kids and singing tomorrow from Annie like
tomorrow was going to be a big day, and say,
I don't feel sorry for those kids at all. Now
I'm glad he shot himself. He did us a favor.
(13:14):
I wish he just would have shot himself and spared
the other lives. But look, today is a day to talk.
It's a day to talk these things out. So go
to the iHeartRadio app seven to ten wor and let's talk.
If you want to get something off your chest, that's
(13:34):
the place to do it. There's so many other things
going on today, and so many other things that can
take our minds off the horrible a little bit. Although
we do need to focus on it, especially they need
to focus on it in Washington. The people that can
do differences make differences to the people in schools. But
let's talk about something a little bit nicer. Oh you
(13:57):
know what, yesterday we talked about Cracker Barrel. Remember that
we talked about Cracker Barrow and the fact that they
now have said they've seen the light. They thanked everybody
for boycotting them, They thanked the president for slamming them
on social media. The CEO of Cracker Barrel called the
White House to talk to the President. And it's interesting.
(14:19):
Somebody on the talk back yesterday said, maybe this was
just a ploy. Maybe it was to get the stock
to go up. Maybe it was a devious but brilliant
promotional thing. And if it did, if that was it,
it's brilliant. It worked, their stocks going up twenty five
(14:41):
percent since they changed back. Remember the whole thing is that.
I'm sure most of you know it, but in case
somebody didn't understand what's going on. They remember the cracker barrel.
When you look at the cracker barrel, there's an old
man in a barrel next to the big sign. Well,
they got rid of the old man in the barrel,
and immediately we'll say, wait a second, why are you
doing that? And they assumed it was woke. They assumed
(15:04):
it was something. The whole Cracker Barrel now the last
vestige of Southern conservatives. Conservatism is going woke, and of
course they started a boycott. And now that's changed. By
the way, Tommy DeVito got picked up by the New
England Patriots immediately as soon as the waiver wire ended boom,
(15:29):
he got picked up and Joe Shane, now the general
manager of the Giant, says, oh, we really would have
liked to keep them man. Giants management is all full.
He should have been fired after Saquon Barkley left and
went to the Eagles, but he is there to inflict
more pain. Now, Let's get the news at six point
thirty with Jacqueline Carl Jacqueline Larry, Good Morning.
Speaker 13 (15:52):
Two children are dead and seventeen people injured after a
shooting at Minneapolis Catholic school on Wednesday morning. The shooting
happened at Annunciation Catholic School during a mass celebrating the
first week of school. Among the injured were fourteen children
between the ages of six and fifteen, along with three
parishioners in their eighties. Police say the shooter died of
(16:13):
a self inflicted gunshot wound. A New York Penn station
will get a multi billion dollar makeover starting by the
end of twenty twenty seven.
Speaker 6 (16:22):
Trump Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy and New York's former train
daddy Andy Beifer making the announcement Wednesday, promising a complete transformation.
Speaker 1 (16:32):
Making the station operationally sound, safe, clean and easy to navigate,
and I once in the future this station to ooze excellence.
Speaker 6 (16:42):
A competition is being launched a hire and master builder
by next May. No decision yet on whether Madison Square Garden,
which sits at top Pen Station, will be moved. As
for whether the name would be changed to Trumps Station,
Duffy responded, I think that is a nice ring to it,
but he also declined to commit right now. Sarah Lee
Kessler WOR News.
Speaker 13 (17:03):
I always like these stories. There's a new study that
finds corn plants actually talk to each other. But we
knew this about trees, right According to Alpaius, scientists from China, Switzerland,
and the Netherlands say they've discovered why do you hear this?
When corn is planted densely, the plants release a scent
called linnelul into the air. The scent tells nearby plants
(17:26):
to slow growth but raise internal defenses. The result, fields
closer together had fewer insect attacks, though the plants did
grow a little bit less. And I've heard stories about
like trees and forests, When one of the trees is
sick or in some kind of it needs help, other
trees send all kinds of nutrients and water through their
(17:49):
root system to that tree to help it. I think
it's amazing. I don't hear anything from either of you,
and I know you're going to do the story. Laris,
you have anything.
Speaker 1 (17:58):
To say that, No, I you already knew that I
was going to do. Sorry, I had a feeling.
Speaker 13 (18:03):
I have a little bird that tells me a lot
of stuff.
Speaker 1 (18:06):
Well, when I was in your position, I wasn't allowed
to do stories that were done on the show. So
that's what's interesting about that that you do it?
Speaker 5 (18:13):
All right, going to.
Speaker 1 (18:14):
Happen a little bit later on. But listen, does that
mean that these plants are talking behind my back in
my yard?
Speaker 13 (18:23):
Because it was the corn plants that told me.
Speaker 1 (18:28):
I didn't know you could talk to the corn plants. Well,
this a lot you don't know about that you speak corn.
That's amazing, It's amazing. It is. Thanks so much, Jacqueline
carl Well. After several high profile murders and a rash
of shootings in the Bronx, crime is the number one
issue in the mayor's race. Is this an opportunity for
(18:50):
Curtis Leewa. We'll talk about that next. Our iHeartRadio Music
Festival is back September nineteenth and twentieth at T Mobile
Arena in Las Vegas, two nights on one stage, live
performances by Brian Adams, John Fogerty, Sammy Hagar, Ed Sheeran,
Maroon Five, Mariah Carey and Moore. But while the world
(19:13):
is listening on iHeart, you could be there. Listen for
three chances every weekday to win tickets plus airfare, hotel,
and a thousand dollars in cash. Your next chance to
win is at nine o'clock this morning, right after the news.
Stop telling me crimes down, Stop telling me how safe
(19:33):
things are in New York. Stop telling me we don't
need federal help. Six people shot in the Bronx in
a twenty four hour period. Six people shot in the Bronx,
and a twenty four hour period, three of them did.
Stop telling me lies. Nobody feels that way in this city.
Nobody feels like things are safe, especially not in the Bronx.
(19:57):
They had a vigil up there last night in Hassel
Park and the mother of Joel Banks got up. Joel
Banks was working two jobs. He was a good kid,
thirty two years old. He saw a future for himself.
He was coming back from his job driving driving his bicycle.
(20:20):
He stopped at a basketball court just to watch a
little bit of the basketball game, and a fight broke out.
He got shot and killed. Crime is down. Tell the
mother of Jesseeel Banks, the crime is down. Somebody tried
to by the way. They had the vigil and you know,
the DA showed up, and the borough president showed up,
(20:41):
and the assemblymen for the area showed up. The speaker
the assembly was there and showed up and they all
gave their speeches and there was big applause. You know
they're going to do something finally. But the mother of
Joseeal Banks, she got up and wasn't having any of it.
Speaker 14 (21:02):
I don't know why y'all sitting up here and clapping
and acting like everything's okay.
Speaker 9 (21:06):
The second time my son was shot.
Speaker 3 (21:07):
In the city minded his business.
Speaker 5 (21:09):
He went to work. He's then going to work.
Speaker 15 (21:12):
He worked on his thirty second birthday, and he decided
to come to han Arc to watch the basketball game.
Speaker 10 (21:18):
I'm not going to.
Speaker 4 (21:19):
Sit here and pretend like there's a budget that exists
for us, because.
Speaker 5 (21:23):
There is it.
Speaker 10 (21:26):
So let's stop pretending, guys.
Speaker 4 (21:29):
Okay, let's stop.
Speaker 1 (21:32):
When she said that last line, when she said, let's
stop pretending, guys, let's stop. She turned on the stage
and looked right at the politicians on the stage. We
keep talking to the wrong people about crime. We keep
going to the politicians. They all tell you. In Chicago,
(21:58):
where they had twenty six shootings in a twenty four
hour period, Oh, everything's fine, numbers are down. Everything's great,
they'll tell you. In Washington, DC, everything's fine, numbers are great.
They'll tell you that in New York, well, numbers can
be rigged. That's what happened in Washington. You can talk
to the head of the police union down there. All
of the officers knew they were rigging the numbers. Now
(22:22):
crime is down because Donald Trump and the Fed's moved in.
But New York, no, we don't need it. No, no, no,
we don't need it. Chicago, no, no, no, we don't
need it. Crime is down. Just ask the families of
the crime victims. Crime is down. That's what they'll tell
you all over and over again. And Eric Adams, you know,
after those shootings and after it made the press, well,
(22:44):
he moved in.
Speaker 14 (22:45):
We're going to put in place a full mobilization plan
of you know, the issue with the Bronx were seeing
gangs and young shooters and recidivism.
Speaker 1 (22:59):
Great, we know what the problem is. What are you
going to do about it? You do have a solution
right in front of you. Donald Trump saying we'll send
federal troops, we'll send money, we'll send resources, we'll send
federal intelligence, we'll send FBI agents, we'll send all these people.
We'll put an end to it. No, no, we don't
(23:22):
need that. Look at our numbers, quick, look at our numbers.
They're down. Eric Adams is such a disappointment. He seems
to complain all the time about the sanctuary city policy,
yet he embraced it when it first happened. He complains
(23:44):
all the time about cashless bail, but he doesn't take
anybody on. He doesn't challenge Hoko, he doesn't challenge the
city council. He just complains, and then he shows up
and has task force, has a task force thirty six
hours after it happens, forty eight hours after it happens. Now,
I'll tell you what. The only guy that seems to
(24:05):
look like he's really talking about crime in a serious
manner is courtessly with I'm.
Speaker 3 (24:12):
Dealing with what is becoming the number one issue crime
public safety and quality of life. I'm the expert in
that field. These other three candidates have failed the public
in that regard.
Speaker 1 (24:22):
And so you have the socialists Zorin Mamdani saying we're
going to hire more social workers, no more cops. We
just need social workers, which means there's going to be
dead social workers. Curtis leew And.
Speaker 3 (24:35):
We don't have enough cops. We need at least seven
thousand more cops. So that's why when all of a sudden,
Pam Bondi comes to New York City and says to
our police commissioner, Jessica Tish, you know we can assist you.
And Jessica Tisch.
Speaker 12 (24:48):
Says, no, it's an anomaly.
Speaker 3 (24:50):
It's a perception of crime. No, no, No, crime is rising.
Speaker 1 (24:55):
Yeah. Tell the people in the Bronx it's an anomaly.
Tell the victim of the murders in New York over
the last few weeks, six of them. It was an anomaly.
People or just do not want to Democrats, excuse me,
not just all people don't want to accept anything from
(25:15):
Donald Trump because for them it is political death. The Democrats,
they don't care about anything else. They don't really care
about anything else. They just care about whatever Donald Trump says,
we're going to do the opposite, which puts them on
the wrong side of almost every single issue. And then
you got this socialist, this smiling socialists, who just wants
(25:41):
to reduce crime by making things that were crimes in
the past not crimes anymore. Oh, that's a great idea.
Speaker 3 (25:49):
DSA has a policy no arrest for misdemeanor crimes.
Speaker 1 (25:53):
None.
Speaker 3 (25:54):
And now you sign a hide from the media so
he doesn't have to answer it.
Speaker 1 (25:58):
Yeah, did you notice that all all of a sudden,
zor In Mom Donnie, who was doing weightlifting over the
weekend and was had a big scavenger hunt over the weekend.
He has disappeared because he can't answer for these crime policies.
And there's an easy reason for that.
Speaker 15 (26:16):
Maybe because he's a socialist. He is a socialist on
the Democratic line. I'm a Democrat on an independent line.
Speaker 1 (26:28):
By the way, Andrew Cuomo is feeling himself these days,
there's a new poll out that shows he's way behind
zor In Mam Donnie. He's in second place. But the
poll went on to show that if everybody else dropped out,
if Sleewa and Walden, who says he will drop out
and Adams all drop out. He wins by ten points.
Speaker 3 (26:50):
You're an editor and a head to him.
Speaker 13 (26:53):
That poll's right.
Speaker 5 (26:54):
Are the candidates to.
Speaker 1 (26:57):
Yeah, the poll may be correct, but nobody else is
dropping out except possibly Walden, and he may not necessarily
get all those votes. I'm telling you what, Curtis Lee
will over and over again. He does look like the choice. Well,
we got a brand spanking new Penn station that's coming
along with some big, beautiful trains. We'll have the details
(27:21):
on that coming up. Welcome back. Well, we're gonna get
a brand new Penn station. Thank god it's not the
MTA doing the project. We'd never get it. The federal
government has taken over. The Trump administration has taken over there,
promising to have it in just a couple of years.
Realize how long it would have taken if the MTA
was doing it, and they would have kept trying to
figure out ways to get more money from us, more money,
(27:44):
more money, more money. I'll tell you what. Sean Duffy,
who had the news conference yesterday to announce this, he
was a Union station first, then he came to Penn Station.
He had two separate news conferences. He's gonna redo Union
Station as well all new trains, twenty eight new t trains.
The newest SELA is going to roll in Penn Station today.
(28:05):
It looks beautiful. I don't know if you've seen the
artist rendering in some of the videos showing it. It's incredible.
It is just beautiful. I firmly believe he's the best
transportation secretary we've ever had. He's been amazing so far,
not only way better than the other guy, Pete Boudhajeedge.
What an embarrassment he was. Wow. I mean, look, at
(28:28):
least I thought he was competent. He was a mayor
of a small town. That's the only other job he held.
I thought he was competent at that. This He was
always mia. Every time there was a disaster. He wasn't
around when they had the train derailment in Ohio, No,
never went. Then he did show up and he had
those boots, weg boots that everybody mocked. And then we
(28:49):
had the remember the holiday disaster when all of the
airlines were canceling flights and people were stuck at the airports,
and he was in Europe. It's and never and didn't
even try to come back, didn't get involved, didn't make
phone calls. Now he's a joke. I just saw. I
just saw a poll the other day of who's leading
(29:12):
right now. It's way too early to talk about and
forget the poll. But the only reason to look at
it at all is to show you how lost the
Democratic Party is. Number one was Gavin Newsom. Never gonna
be president. It's not gonna be him. It's never gonna
be him, he just says the most named recognition. Number
(29:34):
two Pete Boodageedge two. Two horrible candidates who would just
get swamped in a general election. But it's not gonna
be them. It's gonna be somebody we're not even talking
about right now. But let's enough about that. Let's talk
about Penn Station and the fact that Sean Duffy, the
(29:55):
Transportation Secretary, said to the MTA, no, no, no, you're
not even touching this.
Speaker 5 (30:00):
Have pulled this project back from MTA. I have not
been shy in expressing my frustration with MTA. They spend
a lot of money, I'm not pleased with their deliverables,
and I didn't have faith that they could deliver on
this project.
Speaker 1 (30:17):
Right it was just going to be another money pit.
You can already tell by the way they were talking
about it, and it was going to take forever. What
were they saying, ten years, fifteen years? Not this one.
Speaker 5 (30:27):
We are going to move at the speed of Trump.
This is not going to be a twenty thirty year project.
This is not about a back room thinking about how
we can spend money and develop plans but never deliver.
This is actually about how do we move this more
quickly and more beautifully through the process. So it's not
(30:49):
your grandkids that are going to enjoy the work that
we're doing. Now you all are going to get enjoy
this great project.
Speaker 1 (30:57):
How about that just a couple of years. It's I
love the speed of Trump. I love that line. But yeah,
we're going to have this. We're gonna be able to
see it. We're gonna be able to use it in
just a couple of years. And the trains, by the way,
the Newessella comes in today. As I told you, the
videos of what it looks like you can find it online.
(31:18):
They are just amazing.
Speaker 16 (31:20):
They're gorgeous, faster trains, more beautiful trains. We're gonna be
able to carry more passengers on the Northeast Corridor, which
means I think better pricing and better revenue for Amtrak
all very important. And again, clean beautiful trains that I
think are worthy of the greatest country on the face
(31:41):
of the earth.
Speaker 1 (31:42):
Right, twenty eight new trains, so you'll be able to
go to gorgeous Penn Station, get on a brand new
train and ride up and down the Northeast Corridor from
now on. By the way, he was asked a question
about congestion pricing and whether the fight was over.
Speaker 5 (31:57):
In regard to congestion pricing is litigation. I maintain my
point that to drive a car in New York City,
you shouldn't have to be an elite. You shouldn't have
to be wealthy. I think your street should be open
to everybody, not just those who can afford to pay
the congestion pric.
Speaker 1 (32:16):
Here exactly, this is all about rich and poor. The
people that can afford it the least to have to
pay just to get to work. The waitress that works overnight,
the nurse that works at one of the city hospitals,
the construction workers. They can't afford this, They get forced
(32:37):
into the subways overnight when it's its most dangerous.
Speaker 12 (32:42):
No.
Speaker 1 (32:42):
And by the way, where's the socialist that's talking about affordability.
Where's he on this issue. He hasn't spoken about this
at all, So I guess congestion pricing is okay, which,
by the way, is at tax on the poor. He
wants to go after for the corporate taxes and the
taxes on the rich. But I guess the taxes on
(33:03):
the poor they're just fine. How about that marathon cabinet
meeting the other day at the White House. I'm still
marveling at that. The media was there for all three
and a half hours. We're going to talk with wor
White House correspondent John Dekker about it next that's coming
up right after the seven o'clock meet.
