Speaker 1 (00:00):
I'll tell you what. I love your theory on this
feud between Elon Musk and Donald Trump, that it's all
for show, that it's the biggest troll in the world,
because it leads off our Big three today. By the way,
because it did seem to escalate so quickly. They went
from loving each other to hate in each other like that,

(00:22):
and there was no question the bromance was over. They
got engaged in this war of words instantly on social media.

Speaker 2 (00:31):
Elon Musk knows a lot, so to think that he's
now on the outside and he has a war chest,
He's got more money than anybody. This is something that's
extremely concerning just to insiders within Donald Trump's orbit.

Speaker 1 (00:45):
Unless all our listeners are right and it's not real.
We're going to talk to Rob Ascarino about it in
just about two minutes, and also Natalie Migliori will ask
New Yorkers about the feud in her beat on the
Street coming up at A fifty this morning. Mayoral candidate
Zoran Mamdani is facing criticism for refusing to acknowledge Israel

(01:08):
as a Jewish state. Does Jesso no, do you believe
in a Jewish state of Israel?

Speaker 3 (01:13):
I believe Israel has the rights to exist as a
Jewish state, as a.

Speaker 2 (01:16):
State with equal rights.

Speaker 1 (01:21):
New York Attorney General Letitia James says the Mayor of
New York is just a stepping stone for Andrew Cuomo.

Speaker 4 (01:28):
All of these issues that we are dealing with in
the City of New York is because of this one
man who basically wants to resurrect himself. And lastly, let
me say that Andrew Cuomo is not interested in serving
as the mayor of the City of New York. He
is only interested in running for the president of these
United States.

Speaker 1 (01:46):
Harvey Weinstein does a phone interview from prison and admits
that he has regrets. I have regrets that from my
family through this, that I put my wife through this,
that I acted in Moraley, But he says he did
nothing criminal. That was an interview with Rosanna Scato and
Fox five. We're going to have more on that interview

(02:07):
throughout the morning. Prosecutors release alleged Healthcare CEO assass in
Luigi Mangione's manifesto to show his motive.

Speaker 5 (02:20):
Well, this is quite a bombshell if you've been following
this case since the beginning. He said he wanted to
whack the CEO. He wanted to generate news headlines. He
said he had it coming. So now we have a
motive and former.

Speaker 1 (02:33):
Jet quarterback Aaron Rodgers has found a new job as
the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback and the most famous Steelers quarterback
of all time, Terry Bradshaw. He doesn't seem to like it.
That is just to me, is a joke. What are
you going to bring him in for one year?

Speaker 6 (02:50):
Are you kidding me?

Speaker 7 (02:53):
Right?

Speaker 1 (02:53):
No, man, that guy needs to stay in California.

Speaker 8 (02:56):
Thank you, ju ot bark and listen to the.

Speaker 9 (03:01):
Gods out there.

Speaker 1 (03:02):
Wow, Welcome to Pittsburgh. Rob Astorino is up now host
of The Rob Astorino Show on War from Saturday is
from four to five pm. He's host of Saturday Agenda
from one to three on Newsmax and former Westchester County executive.
Good morning Rob, Good morning Larry. What do you tell

(03:23):
me what you think about this feud between Elon and
Donald Trump? Because we got several people that have left
messages that we played as talkbacks, and every single one
of them thinks this isn't real, this is all for show.
What do you think?

Speaker 9 (03:40):
I think it probably started off that way, and then
like any fight between people who were friends, it can
get really bad. But there's got to be a stop
point here. I mean, it is, it's sad, it's ridiculous,
and it's so counterproductive of These are two men who

(04:02):
have done so much for this country. They are doing
so much for this country, and you know, for them
to be a part instead of together, I mean it
would be detrimental. Because Elon Musk deserves a ton of
credit for Doge, and I know he's frustrated. I am too,
quite frankly, there's not enough cuts. But the reality is

(04:25):
trying to get it through a House with a razor
thin majority, trying to get it through the Senate where
you've got some Republicans who don't want to cut anything.
It's just not the reality. So you take the good
and don't let it destroy the perfect. And Elon Musk
wanted the perfect and you just don't have that right now.
And I think Donald Trump gets a enormous credit because

(04:47):
he is moving He's moving that rock up the hill,
and they both deserve a ton of credit. Do I
think that they'll kiss and make up at some point?
I do. I just hope it doesn't become irreparable harm
between the two of them after these kind of nasty fights.

Speaker 1 (05:03):
He put out an interesting poll today on X asking
if we really need a third party in this country,
if we need something. He claims it's eighty percent who
aren't really a Republican or Democrat. It's probably something like
less than twenty percent. But do you think he has
he wants to start a third party? I know he

(05:24):
can't run, but maybe he loves somebody else good luck.

Speaker 9 (05:27):
I mean it's been tried a million times. Michael Bloomberg
spent you know, tens of millions of dollars to try
to run as a third party candidate or study that
to run for president. And he told me, he said,
you know, I could win votes. I could never win
one single electoral College vote. And it's just been tried

(05:48):
for decades now, I mean, go back to when John
Anderson ran in nineteen eighty as an independent. You know,
it just the country, for whatever reason, is right left
Republican a Democrat. And yes, I'm sure there is frustration
people would like to vote independent at times or have
another choice, But I just don't. The reality is I
don't see it happening anytime soon.

Speaker 1 (06:10):
Let's talk about the mayoral debate. This this Zorin Mamdani
saying that he will not acknowledge Israel as a Jewish state,
seems to have some legs. It's carried on now a
couple of days.

Speaker 9 (06:23):
Well, but you know what, any Jew that would consider
voting him for the last since, you know, since he
was introduced to the public, should have their head examined.
This guy is frightening, but he is a he is an.
I don't think he's socialist. I think he's even beyond socialist.
But he has caught fire, you know, in a very
crowded race with a key component of the Democratic Party

(06:48):
that votes. And that is a frightening thing. And I said,
months and months ago, I said on my show, I said,
on your show, this is the guy to watch because
he presents well, he can raise a ton of money,
which he did small dollar donors, and he caught fire
at the right time. And that scares That is scaring Cuomo.

(07:09):
Excuse me, Clomo. Clomo looked like, I don't know, he
looked pathetic, like he wanted nothing to do with the debate,
wanted nothing to do with this race. He was just
I don't. It was not the Andrew Clomo I debated
in twenty fourteen when we went head to head and
like ready to punch each other in the face. He
just looked like he checked out already, you know. And

(07:31):
I don't think it's because I just think his heart's
not in this race, because he just he wasn't even
answering questions. And by the way, NBC and their quote
moderators were pathetic. The only one that was really good
was Melissa Russo. She actually pushed Cuomo. But the other ones,
I mean the Telemundo questioner, she was a she's an activist.

(07:54):
What will you do to prevent ice from arresting?

Speaker 5 (07:57):
Everybody does?

Speaker 3 (07:59):
Come on?

Speaker 1 (08:01):
That was an excellent, excellent interpretation of what you did impersonation.
That was really really good. But the problem they had
with that is the format was awful. It was awful.
What did they have thirty seconds to answer? What do
you learn in thirty seconds? You don't learn anything from
an ad And and they'd cut them off constantly. As

(08:23):
a matter of fact, every time something was starting to
get good, they cut it off. They said they had
to move on. I don't know what they were doing.
It was You're right. Everything was awful about that debate
except the candidates because they actually went at it a
few times. I thought it was yeah, and I thought
it was more exciting than I thought it was going
to be.

Speaker 9 (08:41):
Oh yeah, no it was. It was exciting. If you know,
you don't learn much. But and then I switched over.
I don't know how many other people did you know
at eight o'clock and watch the rest of it online.
But I mean this was perfect to Clomo's advantage. Right,
only an hour on TV eight other people, so everyone
only gets thirty seconds. He didn't. He literally did not
answer questions period, on bail reform, on these other things.

(09:05):
He didn't even answer them, and he wasn't pushed back
to make sure he did, so he got away with everything.

Speaker 1 (09:11):
Yeah, I will say this, when you talked about the
Jewish vote. Of course, he wasn't get the Jewish vote,
but now Jewish voters in the city might get more
involved in this campaign to try to keep him out
in office, and that could mean some money. Not that
Cuomo needs any more money, but it could mean some money.
Thank you so much. Rob Astorino, host of The rab
Astino Show on WOR Saturdays, from four to five pm.

(09:34):
What do you have coming up this weekend?

Speaker 9 (09:35):
Now, I'm going to break down that debate because I
was in a debate with Cuomo, so I want to
take it from the perspective of these other candidates and
what he was going through. And then of course the
X stuff, I mean the Twitter stuff with this is great,
It's going to get even better today.

Speaker 1 (09:52):
Thanks a lot. He's also hosted Saturday Agenda. You can
watch him on Newsmax from one to three. And of
course he's the former Westchester County executive.

Speaker 3 (09:59):
Thanks a lot, Thankulary.

Speaker 1 (10:02):
As you know, the New York Knicks coaching job is open.
What do you think about Rick Patino? Again, he was
asked if he wanted the job, and we have his
answer next. Plus we have tickets to see the Beach Boys,
so stay with us. Well, the competition is hot and heavy.
For the MENTI in the morning t shirt, lots of

(10:24):
talkbacks today. We really appreciate it because you added the show.
You add so much to the conversation. If you want one,
and apparently they're going for thousands of cents on the
secretary markets, they are They're extremely valuable, and so if
you want one, you just have to give us a
great talkback, and we need the council that gets together

(10:47):
near the end of the show to decide what the
best talkback of the morning is and that person gets
a MENTI in the Morning t shirt. Just go to
seven to ten WR on the iHeartRadio app, click the
talk back, and then we put you on the air.

Speaker 8 (11:01):
You know, I really like the transparency from this administration,
just like the first time around.

Speaker 3 (11:08):
But you know, sometimes it's a little too much.

Speaker 8 (11:12):
I mean, do we really need to hear about the
riffs what Elon? I just don't like it, you know,
I think it gives Democrats more more ammunition.

Speaker 1 (11:24):
To dump on us. But I don't know, I don't
know what other people think. Yeah, but this is all
on social media. I know Trump has said a couple
of things in the Oval office, but mostly in the
Oval office, he's really been nice to Elon. It's been
on social media where he's taking his jabs. That's where
it's going back and forth. And if you haven't noticed,
that's the new world. I mean, these things happen all

(11:46):
the time. They don't rise to this level, but these
type of feuds are constant on social media. It's the
bad part of social media. I know what the good
part is, but it's the bad part of social media.
So it's playing out on X and truth social which
I think is a riot that you have to go
back and forth. Good morning, guys.

Speaker 3 (12:06):
I got a question.

Speaker 1 (12:07):
Do they even teach D Day in school these days?

Speaker 3 (12:10):
Just wondering.

Speaker 1 (12:11):
Yeah, that's a great question. Today, of course, is the
anniversary of D Day, and it's it's it is interesting.
I think they do, but you know, I haven't been
in school for a long time, and my kids were
in school, and and there was remembrance for D Day
when they were in school, but they were in private schools,
so I'm not sure in public schools do you remember

(12:35):
with your kids.

Speaker 10 (12:36):
I don't remember a ceremony, but you know, they did
learn about it. But it's probably one day, you know,
one lesson.

Speaker 1 (12:48):
Yeah, and it's over. It's always the fear on these things.
Because we can learn so much from D Day. We
can learn so much from the remembrance of nine to eleven,
we can learn so much from the remembrance of Harbor.
We can learn so much from these significant moments in
American history, especially military moments, and in hopes that we
never get there again, and so and the fact that

(13:11):
they start to fade from memory as we go. But
I'm glad you pointed that out, and we should be
talking more about D Day today as well.

Speaker 11 (13:19):
Elon, you need to go home and play with your
rocket ships and your little tesla's and stop this. You
need to realize that you are not running the White House.
Donald Trump is the president. So come on, quit that.
Quit acting like a kid.

Speaker 1 (13:40):
So there it got scolded. Elon, go back. Let's go
back and play with your rocket ships.

Speaker 10 (13:48):
He's got fun toys.

Speaker 1 (13:50):
He does. He has. He has man toys that most
of us would envy. He have, boyd does he have
man toys? He has robots and all that kind of stuff.
Let's give away some tickets, hey, Jacqueline, real quick, only
because I promised i'd get this Patino thing. And let
me just give you his answer real quick. He's coaching
at Saint John's. He coached the Knicks before he was successful.
So he was at the Yankees and he was up

(14:12):
in the booth and they asked him if he wanted
the job. We got a tough question, ask he wants
to ease the tour should I just say a tough
questioning you know that Nick chops open you wanted absolutely not.

Speaker 12 (14:25):
I think whoever comes in, if he doesn't get to
the finals, it's going to be.

Speaker 1 (14:31):
Deemed an unsuccessful season.

Speaker 12 (14:33):
So whoever comes in has got so much pressure on
them to take this team to the next level, because
that's why they're doing it obviously in their minds.

Speaker 1 (14:41):
Smart man, it's a no win situation. There's high expectations
for the Knicks now that they've gotten close two years
in a row. Thanks so much, Jacqueline Carl for holding
off for a second. Now let's get the news at
seven point thirty.

Speaker 13 (14:54):
All right, good morning. The feud between President Trump and
Elon Musk is exploding online, as you've heard Larry talking
about and our listeners. After Musk took aim at Trump's
so called Big Beautiful Bill earlier this week. The back
and forth escalated Thursday, with Musk posting that Trump couldn't
have won the election without his help. He even backed
the idea of impeaching Trump and replacing him with JD. Vance,

(15:17):
accused Trump of being linked to the epscene files and
threatened to pull SpaceX's Dragon spacecraft, the only US vehicle
flying astronauts to the space station. And the Mexican Navy
ship that crashed into the Brooklyn Bridge last month. Remember
that killed two people. It's being towed away this morning
so it might interfere with ferry service.

Speaker 6 (15:37):
The Navy ship has been docked at Peer thirty six
since the deadly crash on May seventeenth. Officials shutting down
parts of the East River to boat traffic while this
ship is being towed away from Manhattan and brought to
the Brooklyn Navy Yard has caused some delays to New
York City ferries for the morning commute. A preliminary investigation
reveals the ship lost power then went into the Brooklyn Bridge,
snapping its three masts.

Speaker 13 (15:58):
I'm scaffling wr news all right, so I think everyone
can relate to this the most. I'm gonna tell you
a story about the most annoying things passengers do in cars.
A survey of two thousand drivers reveals what passengers do
that frustrates them the most, and complaining blocking the mirrors
and reaching for the invisible break top the list.

Speaker 10 (16:20):
Oh my gosh, I do that at my husband. Oh
my goodness, the patience he has because I am the
invisible break woman you are yep? The hand on the
dashboard yep. Oh I you would not. I know, I
agree it's wrong.

Speaker 1 (16:38):
That would drive me crazy. And the noises too, Yes,
like the smallest thing you do when you're driving, when
you have your wife next to you, she's going to
let you know somehow that they disagree with what you
just did.

Speaker 13 (16:55):
Harry Chris, this a lot of them. There's like watching
loud videos on phones, putting the feet up on the
dashboard and messing with the radio.

Speaker 1 (17:03):
So tell us, you tell us some more.

Speaker 13 (17:06):
What pass What passengers do that frustrates you the most.

Speaker 1 (17:09):
Well, they're putting the feet up and changing the radio.
That's kids. My one son does that all the time
and I have to say it to him constantly. And
I don't know what it is because I'll say, get
your feet off the dashboard.

Speaker 13 (17:23):
It doesn't even seem comfortable, doesn't it is comfortable?

Speaker 1 (17:27):
Exactly?

Speaker 13 (17:29):
Would you rather be the driver or the passenger? And
who's a better driver, you or your partner?

Speaker 1 (17:34):
Well, that's an unfair question. Everybody's gonna say they are.
You're gonna say you're a better driver.

Speaker 10 (17:41):
No, no, no, no. My husband's a great driver. But and
I do enjoy being a passenger when he's driving. I
do do the air brake. I'm sorry, I know I
do it, but I do it for everybody.

Speaker 1 (17:50):
If you do the air brake, then he's not that
great of a driver, now, is he.

Speaker 10 (17:53):
I know he is. Because everything's fine, they're all still
a lot and well.

Speaker 1 (17:59):
I'm kicking. I can't let my I hate when my
wife drives when but she doesn't care anyway because she
wants to put her makeup on in the car, so
the entire drive where we go she does all the time.
I'm afraid she does it when she's driving, but she
won't admit to that in the morning. I'm I'm so
scared to death of that. Thanks so much, Jacqueline Carl.

(18:20):
Congratulations to Paul de Nigrisresznegress. Darn't it Paul Denegress from Wayne,
New Jersey, who just won a pair of tickets to
see the Beach Boys on June fourteenth at the PNC
Bank Art Center. Congratulations Paul. Purchase tickets at ticketmaster dot
com and coming up at h twenty five a chance
to see the Beach Boys at north Well Health at

(18:43):
Jones Beach theater. Well, it is the story of the
morning and what you want to talk about on talkback,
So we're gonna give you the very latest on the
social media feud between Donald Trump and Elon Musk when
we come back. Also check out the latest episode of
On Purpose with Ja Shetty as Jay sits down with

(19:07):
behavioral researcher and best selling author Vanessa Van Edwards for
a powerful conversation that blends science, honesty, and so many
surprising moments. Vanessa shows us how confidence isn't always something
you're born with, but something you can build with intention
and awareness. Open the free iHeartRadio app and search for

(19:30):
On Purpose with Ja Shetty to listen. Now. Well, today
is a day that will live in history. Today was
D Day June sixth, nineteen forty four. It was the
beginning of the Allied invasion of Normandy, France. It was
code named at the time Operation Overlord. It was the

(19:52):
largest and still stands to this day the largest amphibious
military operation in history. Involved the landing of nearly one
hundred and sixty thousand Allied troops on the beaches of Normandy.
The invasion was a critical step in defeating Nazi Germany

(20:13):
and liberating Europe. And at the time Dwight D. Eisenhower,
who later became President, was the Supreme Commander. He was
overseeing all Allied forces in Europe, and he gave a speech.

Speaker 7 (20:29):
Soldiers, sailors, and airmen of the Allied Expeditionary Force, You
are about to embark upon the great crusade toward which
we have striven these many months. The eyes of the
world are upon you. The hopes and prayers of liberty
loving people everywhere march with you, in company with our
brave allies and brothers in arms on other fronts. You

(20:53):
will bring about the destruction of the German war machine,
the elimination of Nazi tyranny over the oppessed peoples of Europe,
and security for ourselves in a free world. Your task
will not be an easy one. Your enemy is well trained,
well equipped, and battle hardened. He will fight savagely. But
this is the year in nineteen forty four. Much has

(21:16):
happened since the Metsi triumphs of nineteen forty forty one.
The United Nations have inflicted upon the Germans great defeats.

Speaker 1 (21:24):
In open battle man demand.

Speaker 7 (21:27):
Our air offensive has seriously reduced their strength in the
air and their capacity to wage war on the ground.

Speaker 1 (21:35):
It was one of the maybe the greatest military moment
in world history. But four four hundred and fourteen Allied
soldiers were killed on that day. There's going to be
a remembrance today in Normandy, and there'll be remembrances hopefully
across the country. We had a great talk back earlier

(21:57):
and asking did they still teach D Day in space schools?
If you're a teacher listening this morning, just remember to
talk about D Day today because it's one of the reasons.
You know, who knows what would have happened to us
if D Day didn't happen, if those brave men didn't
sacrifice that day, even those that lived sacrifice that day.

(22:22):
And Natalie raised a great question earlier. You know, there's
gonna be remembrances across the country, certainly one in Washington, DC.
And if you think about it, the people that served there,
that was eighty one years ago, and so even if
you were seventeen, and there were seventeen year olds that

(22:42):
were as part of the force that went on the
beaches of Normandy, you'd be ninety eight now. So there's
going to be fewer and fewer and fewer, and so
it's not just the memories, as one of the talkbacks
called in and said, oh, we were even remembering this anymore,
but we're not going to have any more of those

(23:02):
veterans soon. Yes, it's a diminished circle.

Speaker 10 (23:06):
I thank goodness. So many people have done the oral
history of you know, of these men, right, absolutely, I
mean so important.

Speaker 1 (23:15):
Time and time again. Yes, it's been done. I wanted
to spend some time on D Day.

Speaker 12 (23:21):
I know.

Speaker 1 (23:21):
I told you I'll give you the latest on this
feud between Donald Trump and and Elon Musk. So let
me give you the latest on this poll. Right. So
Elon Musk one of the most recent things he has
and he now has it pinned to the top after
this big feud where they've gone back and forth and
they've called each other crazy, and they've called each other names,

(23:43):
and they've threatened each other, and they you know, with
Elon Musk saying let's put out the Epstein tapes because
he's on it at least seven times. Donald Trump's on
those tapes. That's the only reason they're not releasing them.
And Donald Trump is firing back saying that we're going
to cut off all funding to SpaceX and the Tesla,
and so it's gotten more heated than just calling each

(24:06):
other names. And then Elon Musk put this up. Is
it time to create a new political party in America
that actually represents the eighty percent in the middle. Well, unfortunately,
I wish that was true. I wish there were eighty
percent in the middle. There are not, There are not.
There are definitely two very engage partisan sides. Unfortunately, I'm

(24:31):
saying because it's a lot of the problems we're having
in this country because of that. What do you think
the percentage is? Take a guess at what you think
the percentage of of people who believe there should be
a new political party? Eighty point seven percent. Eighty percent
of the people in this country want a new political party.

(24:54):
Do you know who stops that? The Republicans and the
Democrats just talk about. Just talk to anyone who's ever
tried to get on the ballot as a third party candidate.
I'm not talking about for president. I'm talking about for
city council, for dog catcher, for mayor of a small town,
for supervisor. Everywhere in the country, they make it al

(25:18):
most impossible to get on the ballot, cost more, You
need more signatures. We do need a strong third party
in this country. It would be wonderful to have. It
would be wonderful to have another point of view because
we're being torn apart by two political parties. It's just

(25:39):
never going to happen. The only thing that the Republicans
and the Democrats agree with is their own existence, and
they will always, always squash any attempt to do anything else.
So it's probably never going to happen. It's a dream.

(26:00):
Elon Musk is asking it for all the wrong reasons,
but there's a good reason for it as well. There
is a reason also that many call Congress the world's
most prestigious retirement. Home. Correspondent Rory O'Neill is here to
talk about the aging Congress. Next, and our iHeartRadio Music
Festival is back. You can win your way in before

(26:22):
you can buy tickets. It all happens September nineteenth and
twentieth at t Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, two nights,
one stage. Listen to win tickets before you buy them,
Plus you'll get airfare, hotel at one thousand dollars in cash.
Your next chance to win happens at nine am. There's

(26:43):
a talkback I want to play before we get to
Rory O'Neill, to talk about how old Congress is. We
keep talking about how old the last two presidents are,
but man, Congress is old. We'll talk to Rory in
a second, but I wanted to play this talkback. Just
a question.

Speaker 6 (26:57):
You know, you want to talk about the memory of
D Day in Pearl Harbor and everything.

Speaker 3 (27:03):
I have a question.

Speaker 1 (27:04):
Do they even say the Pledge of Allegiance every day
the way we did growing up.

Speaker 11 (27:09):
In school and seeing it was a star spangled banner.

Speaker 6 (27:13):
I wouldn't be surprised if they're not doing any of
that anymore.

Speaker 1 (27:18):
Yeah, I'd love to know. I don't think my kids did.
My kids both went to a Catholic school, so they
did prayers every day. I'm not sure they did the
Pledge of Allegiance. When I was growing up, we did
the Pledge of Allegiance every single day. That's a great point,
but I think it's not in fashion anymore, which is
a shame. I mean, it's important that we all pledge

(27:40):
allegiance to this country, but now that's become right wing
and it's become fascist. To pledge allegiance to a country.
So but it's extremely important, extremely important. I agree with you.
I'd love to know. If any parents are out there,
please leave to talk back. Go to the iHeart radio app,
looked for seven to ten wor and then hit the

(28:02):
talk back feature. Everybody's made a big deal about how
old the last two presidents have been, and I understand
they are the older. Well, we're all living longer. Let's
put that as the underlying theme on this. But Donald
Trump and Joe Biden were the oldest presidents in history.

(28:23):
But everybody's old in Washington. It seems like Congress is old.
For more on this, let's talk to Rory O'Neil, wr
National correspondent. You know, I knew you were doing this story,
and I started looking up some of the numbers, and
it really is shocking, it.

Speaker 3 (28:42):
Really is, and how it hasn't always been this way.
You know. The New York Times did all the math
here and they found that there are when Congress started
this latest session, nearly one hundred and twenty members are
seventy or older, eighty six of them in the House,
thirty three in the Senate. There are fourteen octagenarians in

(29:02):
the House, five in the Senate, and ninety one year
old Senator Chuck Grassley of the Republican Republican from Ioland.

Speaker 1 (29:10):
I know, and they keep getting elected back because incumbency
there is some power. And so unless we come up
I guess the idea here when we keep talking about
the ages, but it never happens because the people that
have to do this are exactly the people that don't
want to ever leave, is to have term limits.

Speaker 3 (29:32):
Well, term limits are more aggressive primary challengers as well.
You know, they're also shut out. I mean, good luck
trying to run against an incumbent member of Congress, right,
I mean, it's merely impossible to get them removed, even
from your own party. And by the way, I know
we're talking a lot about members of Congress being in
the silver set, shall we say, but the governor's mansions

(29:55):
nationwide are even worse. You know, the average age in Congress,
the House and the Senate is fifty four years old,
that the average, but in governor's mansions it's sixty one.
So on average governors or even older than members of Congress.

Speaker 1 (30:11):
But there's almost term there's term limits in almost every governor.
Usually it's two terms. So at least at least there's
an end date for them that isn't death.

Speaker 3 (30:20):
You know, the Democrats have had three members of Congress
die in just the past three months, Charlie Rangle most recently.
But yeah, in the last three months, three Democratic members
of Congress have died in office.

Speaker 1 (30:33):
Right here as here you you talked about the House
there for a second, the Senate sixty three point eight
years of age for the Senate, and the Senate it's
always seems to be a lot older. That's that's the
area where nobody leaves. I was. I was surprised to
see some of the names. And I guess it makes
sense that some of the names because they've been around forever,

(30:54):
are you know, and so we get to know these
names like Chuck Grassley, Bernie Sanders. I didn't realize Mitch McConnell,
you know what I mean. I mean, is there any
I guess they protect themselves. Is there any talk about
changing anything and making it?

Speaker 9 (31:10):
Not?

Speaker 3 (31:11):
Really? Not really, that's just you know, it's the power
of incumbency. Now, there is one gen Z member of Congress,
a twenty eight year old Democrat from Orlando, Florida, but
he's the only one who's a member of gen Z
right now on Capitol Hill.

Speaker 1 (31:26):
That's incredible. Rory O'Neil, thanks so much, have a great weekend.
Talk to you next week. They were best buzz and
now they're threatening each other in a national war of words.
All they were such a lovely couple. ABC's Rick Kline
talks about the feud between Trump and Elon coming up
