Speaker 1 (00:00):
How about I know Jacqueline was just talking about the
Giants game and then stunning the Los Angeles Chargers. What
about Jackson Dart? Is that exciting? It's a reason to
watch the Giants again. He was incredible. It was so
much fun. And he's just a reason to go to
(00:21):
the games, and he's a reason to buy the shirts,
and it's a reason to have hope for the future
because of one player, Jackson Dart. I know we're talking
about one game. It's only one game. But he's got
something about him, doesn't he He's got a little bit
of swagger in the Big three today. Eric Adams, as
you've probably heard by now, is out of the race.
Speaker 2 (00:42):
I cannot continue my re election campaign. The constant media
speculation about my future and the campaign finance boys decision
to with whole millions of dollars have undermined my ability
to raise the funds needed for a serious campaign.
Speaker 1 (01:03):
Coming up, we have Republican candidate for mayor, courtis Lee
with his reaction at nine oh five, and is he
even thinking about dropping out of the race. We'll ask
him that question after a new poll shows that New
Josie's race for governor is tied. It's followed by another
scandal for Democratic candidate for governor, Mikey Cheryl, as military
(01:27):
records show she was disciplined for covering for others who
cheated on their final exam.
Speaker 3 (01:34):
She was not allowed to participate in her graduation ceremony,
she was punished by the Naval Academy and saying that
she was covering her friends is code for a line
to investigators. And so she needs to come clean and
she can very easily do that by approving the release
of her disciplinary records, but she won't do that, which
strongly suggests that she'll continue to lie about this issue.
Speaker 1 (01:57):
Cheryl had already been reprimanded by Congress for using her
position to enrich herself with lucrative stock deals. Her campaign
now is on life support. Officially, we're going to talk
with New Jersey North Jersey dot Com columnist Mike Kelly
coming up in just about two minutes. Well, a study
(02:18):
on the brain of Park Avenue mass shooting gunman Shane
Tomorra shows he did, in fact suffer from CTE, which
is caused by concussions playing football.
Speaker 4 (02:30):
It certainly could be a contributing factor. And to me,
when this happened. I thought, like so many in my field,
that there's really an ever increasing urgency for us to
look more into this relationship between hits to the head
and a likelihood for violent behavior and mental illness later
on in life.
Speaker 1 (02:51):
Problem with CTE is you can't even discover that it's
there until someone passes away. There's no study right now
to find out if someone has. Former FBI director James
Comy is charged with two federal charges for lying that
the Trump campaign colluded with the Russians in the twenty
sixteen presidential election, and he took to social media to
(03:15):
say this, My heart is broken for the Department of Justice,
but I have great confidence in the federal judicial system
and I'm innocent.
Speaker 5 (03:25):
So let's have a trial and keep the faith.
Speaker 1 (03:29):
And the Jackson Dart era has begun.
Speaker 6 (03:32):
Here's a run a Gun by Dart.
Speaker 1 (03:34):
First Entendo Tuken in his first Coriel touchdown, he a
Chilean's hunt. The rookie quarterback leads the Giants to their
first win in upset win over the Los Angeles Chargers.
The legend Warner Wolf will talk about Jackson Dart's debut
coming up in a half an hour, but Now let's
(03:55):
get to Mike Kelly, award winning columnists for North Jersey
dot Com and the He's with us every Monday. At
this time, things really got interesting in New Jersey. Mike
all you think, wow, man, what a week between the polls,
between the scandals that break it all down for us.
Speaker 6 (04:21):
Well, good morning, Larry, Yes, welcome to Monday, Another Monday
from the People's Republic of Future. Well, I mean, where
do we begin. I mean, you know, the news about
Congresswoman Mikey Cheryl is in my opinion, stunning, and she's
trying to brush it under the under the covers. In
(04:41):
case listeners haven't heard, Mikey Cheryl was who is who?
Has really kind of framed her entire career around the
fact that she graduated from the United States Naval Academy
and served in the Navy for almost a decade flying helicopters.
It turns out now that Mikey Cheryl was not allowed
to walk at graduation at the Naval Academy because she
(05:07):
was somehow implicated in a cheating scandal down there. It
was the largest cheating scandal ever in the history of
the Naval Academy. Over one hundred cadets were dismissed. Mikey
Cheryl wasn't dismissed. She explains that she did not turn
in fellow classmates who cheated, and so she was punished
(05:30):
with not being allowed to walk into graduation. And let
me explain how seriousness is. Walking in the graduation at
any college is sometimes an option. People you know, they
graduated and they say, oh, I don't feel like, you know,
going to the graduation. But at the Naval Academy it
is often required unless you are sick or something. You
(05:54):
dress up in your dress uniform. The cadets march in,
they throw their hats at the end. They get their
delay is by marching across the stage. And in this case,
the President of the United States at the time, Bill Clinton,
was there and gave them their diplomas. So being told
that you can't do that is serious punishment. She didn't
get kicked out, though, so it's really not clear yet
(06:17):
exactly what she was implicating, how she was implicated here.
And I think she's got to hold some sort of
no holds barred press conference and just lay the whole
story out. And the question is, I guess whether does
this resonate with voters. Yet I'm not sure. There's a
lot of a lot of the political errors being taken
out of the room by the President and what's going
(06:39):
on in Washington, and now we've got the New York
City craziness with the mayor's ray. So I don't know
how how much this is going to resonate with New
Jersey voters. Yet, Let's just keep an eye on it though.
Speaker 1 (06:51):
It is the worst case scenario though for her, because
you're right, there's a whole lot going on, and so
most people just go, oh, another scan. They don't dig
into it. They just hear what's on the surface. And
I don't know, I think this is killing her.
Speaker 6 (07:09):
This is yeah, this is really serious, Larry. I can
speak as the son of a career officer in the
Marine Corps. The military United States military has very very
different standards than public life for how people are supposed
to behave when it comes to matters of reporting wrongdoing.
(07:31):
There is an honor code at not only the Naval Academy,
but also West Point and the other military academies that say,
if you know of some wrongdoing and you do not
report it, you are as culpable as the person doing
the wrongdoing. So think about that for a second. That
(07:52):
kind of honor code does not necessarily apply to the
corporate world, if you imagine that that apply to Wall Street.
But in the military, it's very serious and there are
reasons for doing that because listen, we put we put
these young men and women, uh, they in situations where
they represent the United States, and if they are doing
(08:14):
something wrong, the world should know about it. And and
and the fact that we have these on our codes
has made our military really really terrific, I think over
the years. So the fact that she was implicated in
something like this is in my opinion, very serious, and
I just think she needs to explain herself what's going
(08:35):
on here.
Speaker 1 (08:36):
I think people of a certain age I certainly remember
the Joanne Chezimarge story, uh and how much it captivated
New Jersey. It was the biggest story. I didn't know
you went down to Cuba to try to find her.
Tell us about that.
Speaker 7 (08:52):
I did.
Speaker 6 (08:52):
Yeah, So switching to the other New Jersey story, Joanne
Chezemard is probably name that a lot of people have forgotten.
Back in the nineteen seventies, she was a member of
the Black Liberation Army, which was a revolutionary group that,
along with the Weather Underground and a number of other
(09:13):
violent leftist groups, were actually committing acts of violence here
in the United States, setting off bombs, murdering police officers,
that sort of thing. Chesmard was convicted for murdering a
New Jersey State trooper in a gunfight on the New
Jersey Turnpike not far from Exit nine Rutgers University, and
(09:39):
she was captured. She was convicted of murder, sentenced to jail,
and several years later she managed to break out of
jail and with the help of a kind of underground
of revolutionaries here in the United States, she made her
way to Cuba, where Fidel Castro gave her political asylum
(10:00):
and she lived down there since the early nineteen eighties.
I went down there in twenty fifteen with the assignment
of finding her and several other violent fugitives from the
United States. There was about five fugitives from the United
States with real blood on their hands, one of whom
(10:20):
is a guy named Guiermo Morales, who was a Puerto
Rican revolutionary who made the bomb that blew up France's
tavern and killed four people back in nineteen seventy five.
So I found Morales, actually knocked on his door and
told him I wanted to talk to him, at which
point he said he was going to call the cops
(10:40):
if I didn't leave it. I said, well, are you
going to call NYPD, because they'd be happy to come
down and talk.
Speaker 1 (10:46):
Yeah. No, it's amazing. Your whole story is amazing. Can
we find that somewhere?
Speaker 6 (10:52):
Sure, I'll try to send it to you, And yeah.
Speaker 1 (10:56):
Let's post it because it's his story worth knowing. And
by the way, the offshoot about this is that she
has now died in prison, at least according to the
Cuban regime. Thanks a lot. Mike Kelly is an award
winning columnist from North Jersey dot Com and The Record
with us every Monday at seven oh five. An important
warning from a woman about putting anything valuable in the
(11:17):
overhead bins on an airplane. What she lost is priceless.
The story after a break. But as always, thanks so
much for your talk. Facts a lot going on today,
especially politically, with Eric Adams dropping out of the race.
Does this mean Andrew Cuomo can win? I don't think
(11:37):
it's enough points. I think he needs more than that.
Eric Adams has been in the single digits the entire race,
and I'm not sure that that's enough to put Andrew
Cuomo ahead of zorin Mom Donnie. But maybe you disagree.
Speaker 8 (11:55):
You know, I never liked Adams. I never trusted him.
I don't think he was a clean cop. I think
he stepped down right. You know, he's got a history.
So I'm glad he's gone. Next, we need to get
Clomo out of there. This is a Democrat Republican battle
and we need to support Curtis. Let's get going.
Speaker 1 (12:19):
It's a great idea. I don't think Curtis alone solo
against mom Donnie can beat him. And I think the
best choice, unfortunately, the best chance, I should say not
the best choice, certainly not the best choice. The best
chance is Andrew Cuomo. So and look, Curtis Lee was
(12:39):
not going to drop out of the race. I'm going
to ask him anyway, just because you have to ask him,
but I already know what the answer is going to be.
There's no way he's dropping out of the race. It's
just not going to happen.
Speaker 9 (12:50):
Do not agree with you, Larry, You're totally off base
on this one. Mondamie kicking Adams when he's down. That
was a victory speech to me, because if he's scared,
he's angry because now he's got to start thinking about
it instead of coasting like he's been perfect. Also, Mayor
(13:10):
Adams should have gone out like a hero. He should
have stood up and said, you know what, for the
good of the city, I'm gonna step down.
Speaker 1 (13:18):
Yeah, I understand what you're saying. So you're saying that
Eric Adams should have stepped down from his job, not
just from the campaign. Look, I don't think that he's
doing that horrible of a job. I don't think he's
done all the things he said he was going to
promise to do. But crime certainly did come down since
he's been in office. Did they change the crime SATs?
I don't know. That have to be an investigation into that.
(13:41):
But he wasn't awful as has been said. I don't
believe so. But he had no power anyway. It's really
the city's run by the city council. And as for
you saying that, mom, Donnie, you don't think he was
a classless that you really thought that was the right
thing to do. He was taking a victory lap. Really,
(14:01):
when a guy drops out of the race. You want
to kick him one more time? Why exactly why what
does that get you? I'm not sure. I don't think so. Anyway,
let's really quickly talk about this other story. Stephanie Arrows
is a San Diego woman. She was flying on a
short flight from San Diego up to Oakland. She was
(14:23):
going to a family gathering, and for the gathering, because
it was so important to her, she brought some It
was her niece's wedding. She brought some heirlooms that her
mom had that she thought would be important for the
bride to see, and she was going to give a
couple of the things. It was forty thousand dollars worth
of irreplaceable heirlooms. And it's not just the price, it's
(14:46):
the sentiment behind it. And she brought her on the
plane and she has an injury, so she couldn't put
it in an overhead bin. She brought her on the
plane and she asks the flight attendant, you know, to
help with this bag. And the flight attendant said, I'll
take care of it for you. And she was worried,
very worried about it. And you should never listen to
these words from a flight attendant.
Speaker 10 (15:06):
It's a very valuable bag. I'd rather not be separated
from my bag. And she says it'll be fine.
Speaker 1 (15:14):
Well, it was taken and it was swapped out by
a similar looking bag filled with men's toiletrees.
Speaker 7 (15:22):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (15:22):
And they police have no idea right now who may
have taken it. They're going through footage, they're going through
video of people that left the plane to look for
they're still investigating. But it sounds like she may have
lost this forever and she's just heartbroken. But she does
have a warning for everybody else.
Speaker 10 (15:42):
Don't separate. Put it at your feet, put it directly
above your head. I don't want this to happen to
anyone else.
Speaker 1 (15:48):
Yeah, I have no idea why she just didn't hold
on to it the entire time. I don't get it.
I just don't understand anything about the story. But it's
a cautionary tale for all of us. Now, let's get
to Jacqueline Carl with the News, jackled.
Speaker 11 (16:01):
Larry, Good Morning. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer says serious
negotiations need to take place when President Trump meets with
the congressional leaders in order to avoid a shutdown. House
Speaker Mike Johnson. Senate Majority Leader John Thunne, Democratic House
Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, and Schumer are all expected to
meet with Trump later today in the Oval Office. Congress
(16:23):
has just days left to agree on a stopgap bill
to keep government fully funded past Tuesday. At A community
advisory committee will hold final votes today on proposals for
casino in the Bronx and Coney Island.
Speaker 12 (16:35):
It comes days after a proposal to expand Empire Casino
in Yonkers and another for Resorts World and Queens were
approved by a community committee. A casino near City Field
in Queen's is still in the running as well. There
will be no casinos in Manhattan after three bids were
denied earlier this month. New York State is expected to
grant three licenses to the Downstate area by the end
(16:57):
of this year. Natalie Migliori, Well, you owe War News.
Speaker 11 (17:01):
So according to Talking Points, a new survey reveals that
twenty eight percent of people admit to turning into a
cozy comfort seeker as soon as it's fall. I'm one
of those people. The pole also highlights people's favorite things
about autumn, and I've got the ten top favorite things
about fall that people like anybody wanted hazard a.
Speaker 1 (17:20):
Guess the weather.
Speaker 11 (17:25):
They don't say it like that. Let me tell you.
I'm going to name them fast, and you tell me
if you agree with any of them, or you have
others you like switching to your cozy wardrobe, snuggling under
a blanket after a long day. I do this all
year round. Crunchy leaves underfoot, the sound of rain while
you're inside, closing the curtains early and settling in for
(17:45):
the night, the golden hour, hitting the trees, drinking hot
chocolate with whipped cream, going for a walk that ends
at a cafe, lighting seasonal candles, and getting into bed
early just because it's dark.
Speaker 1 (17:57):
I do so many of these.
Speaker 11 (17:58):
It sounds like a Hallmark movie, it does. They say,
they say a lot of people tend to romanticize the ball,
and I'm like, when I first read them, like, what
are they talking about? Then it's like the candles and yeah,
the whoop cream chocolate, because you could.
Speaker 1 (18:11):
Do that all year long. I mean, it's it is
romanticizing the fall. It really is. The fall is my
favorite time.
Speaker 11 (18:17):
Too, y pucket ie everything.
Speaker 5 (18:23):
I just love not sweating.
Speaker 11 (18:28):
I just think it's a cozy time.
Speaker 1 (18:29):
I really do, thanks so much, Jacquelincarl Warner Wolf is
next to talk about the Giant's new starting quarterback, will
have his three stooges, his boo of the week, and
get this a movie review. This will be good Water
is coming up next. Now's my chance to get to
talk about the CC Radio three. The Sea Crane Radio
(18:51):
three is the almost everything radio. With the addition of Bluetooth.
Think about that. You can listen to raddo shows and
podcasts from any smartphone or speaker.
Speaker 9 (19:03):
Now.
Speaker 1 (19:04):
The CC Radio three has great reception for long AMFM stations,
along with emergency capabilities, so you got Noah weather and
two meter handband. Reliable communication and staying connected is essential
during an emergency, It's essential during any unforeseen event. Now,
(19:27):
if you listen primarily to voice content, you know, like
podcasts or to me right now, the CC Radio three
is arguably worth the price alone just for that audio quality.
For the spoken word, it sounds like I'm at the
table just having a conversation with you. You can separate
the base and the treble controls can be adjusted so
(19:49):
you have the perfect pitch to immerse yourself in audio clarity. Now,
it runs. This is important for an emergency. It runs
on a power It also runs on a set of
batteries for over one hundred and seventy hours. You sold well.
To order the cc Radio three, call SA Crane at
(20:12):
eight hundred five two two eight eight six three. That's
eight hundred five two two eight eight six three, or
you can visit them online at ccrane dot com. That
c C R A n E dot com. By the way,
this is also available on Amazon. Let's get their Warner
Wolf legendary sportscaster with us every Monday at seven thirty five.
(20:35):
This is exciting, Warner. The Giants fans have something to
cheer for, something to watch.
Speaker 7 (20:42):
Well time out. Yeah, before you say Jackson dart is
the most is the next Eli Manning or Phil Simms
or Ya Tittel. The fact is he had only one
hundred and eleven yards passing.
Speaker 6 (21:01):
That's fair.
Speaker 7 (21:02):
That is not gonna win many ball games. The Giants
had only one touchdown drive the entire game. The other
touchdown drive was only three yards, set up by an interception.
The fact is the defense won the game, So hold
(21:22):
off on Jack one hundred and eleven yard I'm not
gonna make it.
Speaker 1 (21:28):
Larry, Yeah, he just here's something about him that's fun
to watch. There's something about him that's exciting. And I
don't think Giants fans have had anything to watch.
Speaker 7 (21:39):
I agree with that. Yeah, sure, anything would have been
an improvement, that's true. That's so the Jets two and
a half point hunderdog in Miami tonight. Baseball, it's not
how much you spend, but how you spend it. Steve
Cohen and the Mets had the highest payroll in baseball history,
(22:00):
three hundred and thirty three million dollars and didn't make
the playoffs. You know who did make the playoffs Teams
like Cleveland. Their payroll is only one hundred million, Cincinnati
one hundred and sixteen million, Detroit one hundred and forty million.
You got to know how to spend it, man. And oh,
(22:25):
this is why NFL coaches hire at least ten assistant coaches.
After the Falcons were blown out last week by Carolina
thirty to nothing. Did the Falcons fire the head coach?
Speaker 11 (22:38):
No?
Speaker 7 (22:39):
Did they fire the offensive coordinator, No, they fired the
wide receivers coach. Thing coach says, don't blame me, no,
And how about this? What have you done for me lately.
The Buola League goes to the Athletic directory of Oklahoma State.
(23:01):
They fired their longtime successful head coach, Mike Gundy, who
had eighteen consecutive winning seasons. He was eighty games over
five hundred. Oklahoma State was now paid Gundy fifteen million
dollars not to coach Oklahoma State and the robot manager
(23:24):
in Baseball of the Week, no complete games on my watch,
no Robot. Red Sox manager Alex Cora took out his starter,
left handed Garrett Crochet, who is now eighteen and five
and a candidate for the Saion Award after eight innings
(23:45):
with a seven to nothing lead of leveling only three
hits against the Jays. Why because he threw one hundred pitches, Hey, Robot,
Let the man try and get three more outs and
help him win the cy Young Award. All right, you're
ready for the oh the three Stugents.
Speaker 4 (24:05):
I got one.
Speaker 7 (24:06):
I've got one at a time. All right, do you
want a movie review? First?
Speaker 11 (24:10):
Now?
Speaker 6 (24:10):
Three is?
Speaker 7 (24:12):
Oh? Well? First of all, the heckling fans at Beth
Page during the Ryder Cup, even as players were ready
to take the shots, New York State troopers were brought in.
Two fans were ejected. You know what, they should be
banned from all golf tournaments for life. Stooge Number two
(24:37):
Mississippi coach Lane Kiffin, who when asked who would win
this past Saturday's LSU Mississippi game after it was revealed
that his daughter dates an LSU linebacker, he said, take
the over. He told the fans to take the over.
(25:00):
That's based on the total points scored between the two teams.
The over was fifty seven and a half. The final
score was twenty four to nineteen Mississippi. That's only forty
three points. So the coach all his followers took the
coach's tip and lost. So if you took the over,
(25:21):
you lost. You can't do that, you're the coach. It
stug's number three New York Times writer Adam Sternberg, whose
headline said upon his return that Jimmy Kimmel rose to
the occasion, rose to the occasion. What were you watching?
(25:43):
Kimmel never once said I'm sorry for lying accusing the
magagam for Charlie Kirk's murder, and also said his comments
could have been misconstrued. Misconstrued, But what a phony you think?
He rose to the occasion. Man, what are you smoking?
(26:07):
All right? That's the Three Stooges. You're ready for a
movie review?
Speaker 1 (26:19):
Yes, although I know what you're going to review and
I've never watched it. Oh so sorry.
Speaker 7 (26:27):
Let me explain. It's the first time I went to
a movie in two years. I don't go to the theater,
you know, watch Netflix or Turner Classic movies, the old
movie sit at home. I went to the movies and
saw Downton Abby Grand Finale two hours, three minutes. I
thought it was great. If you were a Downton Abby
(26:49):
fan of these six TV episodes, you'll think this is fantastic.
I don't want to give it away. Excuse me, but
Lady Mary he gets a divorce, which was a big
scandal in England in nineteen thirty and Lady Cora's American
brother played by Paul Giamatti, cost the whole family big
(27:13):
money with bad investments. But I would That's all I'm
gonna say about it. I thought it was terrific.
Speaker 1 (27:19):
Yeah, I've heard nothing only this week in sports, Larry Okay,
go ahead.
Speaker 7 (27:24):
Fifty years ago this week October the first, nineteen seventy five,
with a billion TV viewers that included the HBO. Everything
was pay per view then and movie theaters. You remember
you used to movie theater pay and watch its fight.
Speaker 1 (27:42):
Well.
Speaker 7 (27:42):
The champion Muhammad Ali and the challenger Joe Fraser had
their third fight called The Thriller in Manila in the Philippines,
which ended after fourteen brutal rounds when Fraser's manager, Eddie
Futch would not let Fraser come out out for the
fifteenth and final round. After the fight, Ali who was
(28:04):
ahead on all three scorecards by the way, said it
was the closest thing he had ever come to death
and that af Fraser had come out for the fifteenth round,
he would not have come out. Years later, I asked
Fraser if he thought his original manager, Yank Durham, who
died of a stroke two years before, would have let
(28:26):
him come out for the fifteenth round, and he said yes.
Speaker 1 (28:31):
Wow, It's one of the most famous fights, if not
the most famous fight of all time. Waterwolf legendary sportscaster
with us every Monday at seven thirty five. Thanks Warner,
thank you well. After two mass shootings this weekended places
where we should feel safe. Wr National correspondent Rory O'Neil
has this simple question, is any place safe? Rory is next,
(28:55):
and WR congratulates all of our five thousand dollar winners
and Iheartradios thank a teacher promotion powered by donor's choice.
There's still time for you to nominate a teacher who
makes a difference and maybe they'll be one of our
next winners of five thousand dollars to make over their classrooms.
(29:16):
Help us say thank you to the educators who are
shaping our future by nominating your favorite teacher now at
iHeartRadio dot com. Slash teachers tell you what when you
hear these stories, it's like, what is going on? Somebody
in North Carolina on a boat fires into a waterfront bar,
(29:37):
killing three people. Eight people are injured. And then you
have that awful story out of Michigan where somebody shut
up a Mormon church and then set it on fire.
They still if the two more are dead, there's a
total of four dead there too. And I guess the
answer the question is, and it's a great question posed
(29:59):
by Rory O'Neill, the WR National Correspondent, is any place
safe these days? Because you have a church, you have
a waterfront restaurant, what's next. There's just far too many
of these. Rory. I know, it's a question that you're
posing that probably doesn't have an answer, but it has
(30:24):
everyone thinking. I mean, it makes me think when am
I safe? And I guess the answer is no place.
Speaker 5 (30:30):
Well right rhetorical question, but certainly it does make you
think every time you go out, whether it's not to
go out on a Saturday night to the waterfront restaurant
or even then Sunday morning to church services. Both the
scenes of attacks interesting. In both cases, the suspects are
forty years old, and both cases are ex Marines who
(30:51):
served in Iraq. That's a connection we don't know. But
the FBI is now leading the investigation in the Michigan case.
In that North Carolina case, the guy was on a
boat open fire in what was called or is being
described as a planned, meticulous attack. Now the Coastguard was
able to arrest that guy, so he will be in
(31:13):
court today. He's facing multiple counts of first degree murder.
Speaker 1 (31:17):
Do we know motives for either of these shootings?
Speaker 5 (31:20):
Yet not really in either case.
Speaker 6 (31:23):
Ye know.
Speaker 5 (31:24):
In the Michigan church case, the guy in the pickup
truck drives into the church witnesses say there were some
people actually running toward the truck to help the driver,
thinking they were in distress. Then the driver gets out
with his assault rifle and start shooting. As you said,
we know that four people had been killed, eight others wounded,
(31:44):
one of them very critical. But because that person also
set fire to the building, they really couldn't do a
thorough search, and sadly they are expecting to find more
bodies at that Michigan church, especially now that the sun
is up. Seen his cool down, literally they could start
doing the deb research.
Speaker 1 (32:02):
How about in North Carolina? No motiv there either.
Speaker 5 (32:05):
No motive there. There have been some speculation. I won't
get into it until we get some confirmation about what
may have motivated things there. In that case, we do
know that this person claimed to have had PTSD. He
was sort of well known as the guy that's always
suing the local government. There's always suing somebody. He had
some brushes with police, but no sense that there was
(32:25):
any violence there. But again that's part of the ongoing investigation.
Speaker 1 (32:31):
Yeah, you asked a great question in what you sent
to us about is any place safe? And it got
me thinking where would be safe? You know, you're not
safe in your home. Really, you're not safe when you
go out, where you're traveling, when you go to work.
I mean, there seems to be no rhyme or reason
to these shootings. For a while, there was all these
(32:52):
church shootings, but now it can be anywhere. The waterfront
one really is frightening to me, the fact that people
were just out trying to enjoy themselves for an evening
and somebody, for no apparent reason, just opens fire.
Speaker 5 (33:09):
Yeah, from a boat, which is the most bizarre angle
of all this. So yeah, there's a lot, a lot
of moving parts there.
Speaker 1 (33:16):
Right, and just walking down the streets of New York
City people are being hit with random bullets. It's just
too many bullets are in the air. That's part of
the problem. Thanks so much. Rory O'Neil, wr national correspondent
is with us every day at this time. We'll talk
to you again tomorrow, Rory.
Speaker 6 (33:35):
Thank Larry Well.
Speaker 1 (33:36):
Donald Trump is sending federal resources to Memphis, Tennessee this week.
It's there's some already there, and they might be there
in full force as of today. But here's the interesting thing.
Another city or two are now top of the list.
Will tell you what other cities may see troops on
(33:57):
their streets that's coming up after the eight o'clock buck
New
