Speaker 1 (00:02):
And now another edition of As the Bartlett turns. He's
been turning away from Donald Trump recently because he has
an inner conflict with the man he once loved, and
now that love is failing. So let's do a wellness
check and check in one more time with former news
director at w R Joe Bartlett at his home in

(00:24):
South Carolina. So, Joe, how are you feeling these days
about Donald Trump?

Speaker 2 (00:31):
I haven't changed much, but let me can I nothing's changed.
Your therapy hasn't worked, Larry, But please let me just
crystallize this for sure. Go ahead. Yeah, I still support
most of Trump's policies, but I am not a full
on Trumper who supports everything he does. Like Sean Hannity.

(00:53):
That guy can't do anything wrong in Sean Hannity's eyes. Now,
let me ask you this, sure, maybe you therapy because
he done anything? Has he done anything that you dislike
that gives you pause or concern?

Speaker 1 (01:07):
It's too early. No, not since you've been in office. No,
he really hasn't. Because because like if you're going to
talk about the terrorists early, wait a second, Wait a second,
they haven't played out yet. The tariffs haven't played out yet.
The conversation in the Oval Office. That that story hasn't
played out yet. You tell me the results of some
of these things and then I can tell you whether
I like them or didn't like them. Many of these

(01:29):
things are just in the early stages. So no, no,
there's nothing right now except that I love what he's
done at the border, and that was the number one
issue going into office. So and there's other things I love.
I love that he's already got prisoner's release from Russia
and from Venezuela. There's so many things that I like

(01:50):
what he's doing. There are some things that I question,
but I want to watch as they play out to
see where they end before I criticize them.

Speaker 2 (01:59):
All right, Well, I'm impatient. I don't want to wait.
But it does concern me that Oval Office thing. Really
it bothered me. First of all, why was it broadcast
live on TV? They don't do that. If you're gonna
have a frank discussion, you don't bring cameras in there.
So this was obviously, uh set up by who, set
up by whom? It wasn't by Zielinsky.

Speaker 1 (02:21):
Becauselsky, yes, it was a I do not think so.
Because did you watch the whole three minutes. Okay, then
you get really nice to him in the beginning.

Speaker 2 (02:33):
Yeah, but then Vance started. Why was Dvance brought in there?
Why was he there? Uh? The other thing too. When
it was all over, this is this is a barometer.
When it was all over, the Russian media said, oh,
that was great, that was great. So we are on this.
This what concerns me is we are on the side
of Russia in this Ukraine thing, and now we're pulling

(02:56):
all militaries that were the arms support. Uh that's not good.

Speaker 1 (03:00):
Oh my god, you really are fall on that's it.
How do you know we're on Russia's side? You don't
know that we're on Russia's side. He's trying to negotiate peace.
Do you want on the bad mouth Russia? He'll never
get to the table. That's how peace talks start, when
you get one both sides to the table.

Speaker 2 (03:16):
If he bad.

Speaker 1 (03:17):
Mouth Putin right now, that all ends, you know.

Speaker 2 (03:21):
But you know what, you don't take Putin's side on
this and throws Zolensky to the wolves.

Speaker 1 (03:26):
I don't think he's trying to throw the wolves, does Zelensky?
I don't think Zelensky wants this war to end to
take it the truth because he came into that office
to take on Donald Trump. You know what, this was
gonna be nice this one.

Speaker 2 (03:39):
Okay, you had so.

Speaker 1 (03:40):
Many people calling to say nice things, and.

Speaker 2 (03:43):
That's quickly quickly the things Defense Secretary of headship now
threatening military action against Mexico? Did bother you? If he does,
that'll bother me. If he does does does it bother you?
Then this it's Chinese billionaire who was facing charges from
the SEC. Had the charges dropped after we bought thirty

(04:05):
million dollars worth of Trump crypto? Does that body?

Speaker 1 (04:09):
I don't even know that story. I have to have
to read about it before I before I give an
opinion on it.

Speaker 2 (04:14):
All right, No, I really don't. I don't.

Speaker 1 (04:17):
I don't like you don't want to say, oh, that's
a bad thing without knowing exactly what happened. Why don't
we get to some nice things? Sure, we'll get to
some of the talkbacks.

Speaker 3 (04:25):
Hey, good morning, Joe, We really miss you.

Speaker 2 (04:28):
You know, a truth be told in this household?

Speaker 4 (04:31):
We say, what would Joe Bartlett say? We really say that?

Speaker 3 (04:36):
Good miss Joe.

Speaker 2 (04:38):
All Right, there you go, Yeah, there are some common
sense out there.

Speaker 1 (04:42):
Check your blood pressure.

Speaker 2 (04:43):
Is it lower?

Speaker 3 (04:43):
Noil?

Speaker 2 (04:44):
After that phone call, here here's another one. Hey, this
is a message for Joe Bartley. Joe, could you please
talk to the aliens, have them come down. Take Andrew
Cuomo back with What do you think of Cuomo running
for mayor? I think I think he's going to be
the next mayor.

Speaker 1 (05:02):
Do you really I do. I think he's got too
many problems. I don't think it's gonna be Adams or Cuomo.

Speaker 2 (05:07):
No. The thing is with he does definitely has a
lot of baggage. But thanks to UH, your favorite President
UH and a few of his cabinet selections, sexual allegations
are not a disqualifier in politics anymore. His his COVID policy.
That's a big negative, huge negative. But I think it

(05:28):
would have been harder for him state to run statewide
because of that. I don't think it's going to be
a problem in New York City, and I think he
can win because you know, the Adams has got all
these corruption charges now, the questions about the deal with
with with Trump and Adams, that's gonna cost him some votes,
and Cuomo is going to get good union support, great
name recognition, ranked voting. I think he's the favorite.

Speaker 1 (05:50):
You're like all those compensators from the MSNBC. They sneak
into Trump attack in every conversation, every single conversation. Here's
something else.

Speaker 4 (05:59):
Hey, Bartlett, I agree with you. Just because I voted
for Trump doesn't mean I have to agree with everything
he does and support everything he does. Don't let Larry
bully you. This isn't a cult.

Speaker 2 (06:12):
Did you feel like you were being bullied?

Speaker 1 (06:15):
Did you feel it all like you're being bold?

Speaker 2 (06:18):
No? But I truly think you're the guy who needs
the therapy and.

Speaker 1 (06:21):
Not well that's what anybody in your state of mind
would think.

Speaker 3 (06:27):
Hi, Joe Bartlett. You know, for years I love listening
to you. I mean, you were the voice of reasoning.
I still think you're intelligent, but I was concerned about you.

Speaker 2 (06:39):
Did you contact the doctor and possibly.

Speaker 3 (06:42):
Work into new medication for your recently acquired Trump derangement syndrome?

Speaker 2 (06:48):
That took a turn? I hope you're well. That's nice.
I don't. I wouldn't call it Trump derangement syndrome because
he people would who suffer from that. Anything he does
just sends them into a like this fremsy. I'm worried
about how he's going about some of these things, just

(07:09):
his ah, this bluster, this bullying and the belittling that
he does. It's not good for this country. We are
extremely divided, and this guy's just continuing to drive a
wedge between us because.

Speaker 1 (07:25):
I haven't heard you say a nice thing yet. You
keep telling me no, it's just a couple of things
he did, but it's constantly attacking. Although I do want
to get one last talk back in Hey, Joe Bartlett,
my only question for you is how many birdies are
you averaging per round?

Speaker 2 (07:41):
Depends on the day, sometimes a couple, but probably more
double bogies than birdies these days. So I'll find out.
I gotta go another round coming up today. We'll see
how much.

Speaker 1 (07:51):
We'll go ahead, go golf because we're It was great
talking to you. It was wonderful talking to you. I
like the back and forth. I'll talk to you again
next week.

Speaker 2 (08:00):
All right, verty good take care, Larry.

Speaker 1 (08:02):
Thanks a lot, Joe,
