Speaker 1 (00:00):
Now let's get to John Decker w or White House
and Washington Correspondent. John, we have to talk about this
because this is what our our listeners want to talk about. This.
Everybody's been talking about the disappointment, the possible conspiracy. They
believe that they're hiding some of the names that are

(00:20):
on the list. About the Epstein list, it was a
little bit of a surprise when they came out and
said there is no list. But it seems like from
the way Donald Trump's been reacting to it, he's getting
a little upset. People are even bringing it up now, Yeah.

Speaker 2 (00:35):
He's getting touchy about that. And you know, I think
that the reason why this has really risen to the
level of where it is on social media and certainly
within the mega megasphere is what is because of the
fact that they gave every indication that there was going
to be a treasure troph of documents released by the

(00:59):
Department of Justice, released by the FBI. In fact, Pambondi
herself called it a truckload of documents. That was her phrase.
And now it seems as if she's going back on
this promise to release this information to the public. And
for that reason, you have a very high profile MAGA supporters,

(01:20):
MAGA influencers calling for Pambondy to be fired, calling for
Donald Trump to ask for her resignation.

Speaker 1 (01:30):
Wow, I didn't hear that some news. President Trump has
sent letters out asking for US tariff adjustment rates. What
do we know about those letters?

Speaker 2 (01:41):
Well, the letters went out yesterday to seven additional countries.
They are minuscule in the amount of trade that they
conduct with the United States. It's not going to make
a major bit of difference in terms of lowering the
trade deficit that the US has overall. But one notable
letter that went out was made public in the afternoon

(02:06):
by the President, and that was to the government of Brazil.
Fifty percent tariffs will go into effect according to this letter,
the President said on August the President upset about not
only the trade deficit that it has with Brazil, but
also because of the prosecution of Brazil's former president Bolsonaro.

(02:29):
And we already heard from the current president of Brazil
that this threat of higher tariff rates being placed upon
Brazilian goods coming into the US will in no way
change the domestic policies of the Brazilian government.

Speaker 1 (02:44):
Oh, that's pretty fascinating. You know, there is a bill
that right now seems to be getting fast tracked through
the Senate. It has bipartisan support for some heavy sanctions
against Russia. And they're not saying that Donald Trump going
to use these. They're saying that they're going to give
these to him as a weapon if he wants to

(03:05):
use them. Do we know where Donald Trump is leaning
on this?

Speaker 2 (03:10):
Well, according to Lindsey Graham, he seems to be in
support of this sanctions bill. It has the support of
over eighty US senators, so strong bipartisan support. I also
heard from the House Speaker yesterday saying that that bill
will be taken up by the House of Representatives once
it gets through the Senate. It could get through the
Senators early as next week. So if you have movement

(03:34):
in the Republican controlled House and the Senate on this legislation,
the idea here is to get it to President Trump's
desk for his signature, and I think you're looking at,
you know, within the next three weeks the President signing
that legislation. The idea here is to really squeeze Russia
where it hurts, and it's the oil revenue that funds

(03:54):
this entire war against Ukraine. That's what the sanctions target.

Speaker 1 (03:59):
In the I'm Ukraine and Zelensky. They're asking for patriot missiles,
and it seems like Donald Trump is reluctant on this.
Do we know where he stands right now?

Speaker 2 (04:10):
I wish I could tell you a definitive answer, Larry.
He's been waffling on this. You know, he says on
the one hand, he's very supportive of continuing to support Ukraine. Well,
what they need in terms of support a military defensive
weapons like patriot missile batteries, which are so effective as
an anti missile missile dealing with the drone strikes and

(04:34):
the missile strikes that have inundated civilian areas of Ukraine
over the course of the past few weeks every day.
So that's what they're asking for. The President hasn't ruled
it out, but he hasn't ruled it in either, And
you know that's one of the things that obviously concerns
any ally out there supporting Ukraine. They want to see

(04:55):
the US provide this type of weaponry. It's US weaponry.
It's not something that can easily be supplanted or replaced
by a European ally, this is American technology.

Speaker 1 (05:10):
John Decker, thank you so much. We covered a lot.
I appreciate it. John Decker, WR White House Correspondent,
