Speaker 1 (00:00):
Here comes minty in the morning. Well, it's gonna be
a hot one today. Air conditioning on in the car.
I don't have to tell you that. You can figure
that one out on your own. But once you get out,
it's gonna be oppressive. So hopefully you can walk right
into work when you get out of the car, or

(00:20):
wherever you're going, right into the supermarket. So just know
it's gonna be oppressive. We're gonna have Saturday. Just keep
thinking about Saturday. Is gonna be nice Saturday. It's gonna
be nice Saturday. It's gonna be nice. But man, New
Jersey deserves some We all deserve some really nice weather.
By the way, I think Friday Friday's looking nice for
anybody you know just wants to take an extra day.

(00:43):
What happened to Friday? Friday changed all of a sudden sunny, cooler,
and less humid Friday eighty five degrees sounds like a Goodnesday. Oh,
it all moved up. But now did I tell you
we have showers on Sunday Friday, but not on Friday
I'm taking off. Yeah, Well, let's be careful about this,

(01:10):
because what if it all just keeps moving up and
then Saturday we get shot. Oh no, no, no, no, no,
and then yeah, oh, this is worrisome. This is a
cautionary tale. If Friday is gonna be nice and we
lost Sunday, all right, we'll just keep an eye on
it during the week. But it's nice to have some
nice weather. It's nice, especially for the people in the

(01:31):
area that were hit hard by the floods. Jersey got
hit the hardest the flooding rain. That's the Big Three,
by the way, just getting back to that for a second,
because we're learning much more about the devastation as the
waters recede the flooding rains in New Jersey. It turns
out we're both devastating and deadly.

Speaker 2 (01:49):
Last night we got crushed, not just here in Berkeley Heights,
but in this part of the state in particular. Sadly,
two losses of life in Plainfield in a vehicle that
was swept away, and they, sadly, the deceased were extracted.

Speaker 1 (02:05):
Yeah, two people died when the car hit high flood waters.
We don't know if they just got stuck in it
or whether they tried to drive through it. A massive
cleanup right now and a rebuilding process continues today. Donald
Trump weighs in on Andrew Cuomo officially getting back in
the New York mayors race.

Speaker 2 (02:24):
I think we should stay. I think he has a shot.

Speaker 1 (02:26):
Would you prefer him over I don't want to.

Speaker 3 (02:28):
Say, you know, I'm a Republican, he's a Democrat or
an independent.

Speaker 1 (02:32):
No. I think Andrew would have a good shot of winning.
He's got to run a tough campaign. Well, you know,
he was running against the communists. I would think that
he would have a good shot of winning. And once again,
Eric Adams, by the way, he Donald Trump didn't even
mention Eric adams name. Once again, Eric Adams is denied
matching campaign funds from the city's finance board. They've got

(02:54):
to stop putting their thumb on the scale and they've
just got to free up the money for him. This
is getting ridiculous. Attorney Alan Dershowitz, who has seen the
Epstein files, says there never was a client list, but
there are names of alleged clients in some of the documents.
I can tell you right now.

Speaker 3 (03:15):
None of them are public figures who are currently in office,
some of them were previously in office, some of them
are are dead.

Speaker 1 (03:24):
Epstein warns that the files are heavily redacted, so even
if they're released, they may be a disappointment. And New
York Congresswoman Elise Stophonic ripped into the Chancellor of Cooney
during a house hearing on anti Semitism on college campuses.
You have failed the people of New York. You have

(03:45):
failed Jewish students in New York State. And it is
a disgrace. And the Ennys are out.

Speaker 3 (03:51):
And I wouldn't say it's a formula so much as
a structure that we one hundred percent no work.

Speaker 2 (03:56):
So we're going to do it over and over again.

Speaker 1 (03:58):
That's from the studio, breaking record for the most Emmy
nominations for a new show. It's a show done by
Seth Rogan. He is one of the writers and one
of the producers about Hollywood on Apple TV. We'll talk
more about all the Emmy nominations coming up, but let's
talk more about what happened this week, because it's worse

(04:19):
than we thought. I mean, we knew it was bad.
We knew these flash floods were bad, and they hit
everywhere by the way. They hit the subway system, they
hit Westchester, Rockland County, they hit Long Island, they hit
New Jersey. New Jersey got the worst of it by far,
but it was everywhere you could go. There were floods somewhere,

(04:40):
and one person in plain Flamefield, New Jersey thought, maybe
this is the worst they've ever seen. I've lived here
for twenty eight years and I'm Floyd Sandy, all of it,
been through it, and this is the worst I've ever
seen it. Right, and over the next couple of days,
depending on where these systems move, we could get more

(05:02):
rain and some of the cases not just you know,
flashed thunderstorms, but significant rain, and Governor Murphy was warning about.

Speaker 2 (05:09):
That more weather likely. You know, we're in one of
these patterns right now. Hot, humid, late afternoon, early evening thunderstorms.
It doesn't feel as I stand here now as though
tonight tomorrow, Thursday will be in the same level of
intensity that we saw last night. But you never say
never exactly.

Speaker 1 (05:30):
I'll tell you what. One of the things that because
there was so much horrible flooding going on all throughout
the area, especially in New Jersey, and because it was
life threatening, and because of the damage, and by the way,
the damage is going to be in the billions homes destroyed.
There were a couple of fires that happened during this,

(05:51):
and cars are gone. I mean the cars that were underwater,
and it just ruined the entire you know, everything's electrical now,
so it ruined the entire electrical system. There's people dealing
with clean up today. There's people dealing with injury today.
These storms. You know, you hear flash floods and you think, well,
it's not a hurricane, it's not a tornado. These flash

(06:13):
floods were as bad as it could get. You heard
the woman a second ago saying this is the worst
she's ever seen. And she lived through Sandy, and she
lived through Floyd an Ida a few years back. I mean,
flash floods can cause more rain in a fast amount
of time, just like that, than any of the things

(06:37):
I just mentioned that, any of the hurricanes, than any
of the summer storms that last several days. There can
be a storm as we just had you just witnessed,
that can drop six to eight inches of rain in
a couple of hours. It's blinding and it's overwhelming, and
it floods the system like it flooded the subways again.

(07:00):
In couple of the subway stations, they they actually saw
a guyser because the water comes from underneath. I felt
like was I gonna drawn to something? Because it was
really raining and the place has got a flood. It
was just like almost a river down on the floor,
which is I'm just I've never seen this for it
looked here my whole life. This has been going on

(07:21):
for a century since they had the subway. Why isn't
this fixed every single time there's a problem. And remember
we were promised it was gonna be fixed after Superstorm Sandy.
Remember that after Superstorm Sandy they were gonna fix this.

(07:44):
Now this is a real problem. We're gonna get federal funds. Yeah,
we're gonna fix this. Where'd that money go? Because they
obviously didn't fix it. Yeah, the sewer runs right under
the subway. You know how disgusting that is. It's not
the water coming down the steps, it's the water coming
up from the sewer system. That's why it's so brown

(08:06):
and disgusting.

Speaker 3 (08:08):
The New York City sewer system, the stormwater system accommodates
about an inch and a half to an inchian three
quarters an hour. Last night, in that one hour, we
had well over two inches of rain. So what happens
is the system backs up into the subway.

Speaker 1 (08:23):
All right, why don't you make that number one on
your list of where you're going to spend the congestion
pricing money? By the way, how much money did we get?
Can we see the figures? Oh, and while you're at it,
can we see the MTA figures? Can we get a
deep dive into where you've spent all of the billions

(08:44):
of dollars that you got? And then you cry poor
and that you need more. And yet the MTA just
keeps growing and growing and growing, lots of money, lots
of jobs, and the system keeps getting worse, and you
keep crying poor. And now we have this problem that

(09:05):
happens time and time again, and every time the city
has promised it's gonna be fixed. There was an absolute
pledge after Sandy that that wasn't gonna happen again, And
here we are just with flash floods, and it's already
happened again. So when do we say enough is enough?
When do we stop giving this clown money? He talks

(09:28):
a good game, he really does. He gets out there
in front of it and he makes you feel like
you're silly for even bringing it up. And yet there's
problem after problem after problem. So I feel for the
in saying all that, I feel for the people that
have to have to throw stuff away from their homes.
They have to go find a new car right now.

(09:50):
But this is going to be a serious problem as well.
This was a warning what happened in the subways. It's
gonna get worse someday and unless fix this now, we're
going to have a disaster coming up. And that's where
we should be pressing the MTA to spend that congestion
pricing money. Did your favorite show get an Emmy nomination?

(10:13):

choice at eight twenty five. Stay with us
