Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is a podcast from woor. Welcome to the weekend,
and welcome to some beautiful weather. You heard the weather
report just a second ago, but let me tell you.
What I have here in front of me is a
long range forecast, and it says a long run of
dry and milder to warmer weather. So we're going to
(00:24):
have a streak of several days in a row right
through the weekend. So it's going to be a gorgeous weekend.
So no matter what else is going on today, just
remember the weekend is going to be beautiful and that
is something to celebrate it as a matter of fact,
that should lead off for Big three, But nope. In
the Big three. The New York Times story claiming Donald
(00:46):
Trump is working behind the scenes and talking with independent
candidate former Governor Andrew Cuomo to defeat Socialist Democratic candidates
or in mom Donnie, that is still dominating the news
and still dominating the mayor's race.
Speaker 2 (01:03):
I don't recall the last time I spoke with him.
I left the message after the attempted assassination. I don't
believe I spoke with him. I believe I left the
message for him.
Speaker 1 (01:16):
Well, that just doesn't ring true. We'll get into that
in the second but political analyst JC Polanco will be
with us at eight o five to talk about this
new twist in the race. Nobody saw this one coming.
In Harlem, there are now eighty one diagnosed with Legionnaire's disease,
twenty three are in the hospital and three are dead.
(01:36):
And you can catch it just by walking past certain
buildings in Harlem.
Speaker 3 (01:41):
The most commonplace for the bacteria to grow is in
cooling towers, which are on top of buildings. These cooling
towers spray missed or droplets, and that miss is outdoors
and can carry bacteria. Right now, the risk to central
Harlem community at low is not limited to any specific building.
Speaker 1 (02:04):
So listen to that. That was the health Secretary. I
will tell you that the Secretary of Health. I'll tell
you what. It's a myss that falls from the buildings
that you can breathe in and get Legionella disease. But
the important thing here is also if someone has it
and you're around them, you can't get it from them.
The disease cannot spread person to person. A mystery in
(02:27):
Montalk after thirty three year old Manhattan fashion designer Martha
was found unconscious. Martha Howke was found unconscious on a
boat in the exclusive Mantaw Yacht Club. Efforts to revive
her have failed.
Speaker 4 (02:45):
You have someone who's in a private life at thirty
three years old, successful business woman at that young age,
and now she's in the middle of the Montalk Yacht Club,
which is a highly pricey area to be at on
a boat, expensive boat. These things just don't happen in
these neighborhoods.
Speaker 5 (03:00):
Right.
Speaker 1 (03:00):
Police are investigating, but they're not calling it suspicious at
this point. Israeli President Benjamin Netnyaho says he is pushing
forward with plans to take control of all of Gaza.
Speaker 5 (03:13):
We intend to in order to assure our security, remove
Tramas there, enable the population to be free of Gaza,
and to pass it to civilian governance that is not
Tramas and not anyone advocating the destruction to visual.
Speaker 1 (03:29):
President Trump is going to meet with Russian President Vladimir
Putin to end the war in Ukraine next week. At
least he hopes that's what it's about. But Trump says,
and he insisted on this at first. Trump says, Vladimir
Zelensky does not need to be there.
Speaker 5 (03:45):
No he does it.
Speaker 1 (03:46):
No, No, they would like to meet with me, and
I'll do whatever I can to stop the killing. Senator
John Cornin says he has assurances now from the FBI
that agents will help get Texas legislators back to Texas
to vote on redistricting, but reporters they haven't been able
to verify that.
Speaker 6 (04:07):
We've repeatedly asked the FBI what this means. We've asked
for details about what this assistance looks like, and the
FBI has declined to comment repeatedly, so it's it's unclear
what they can do.
Speaker 1 (04:20):
ABC's Jim Ryan will be with us at seven point
thirty five with the latest from Texas economists and frequent
guest on Woor. Stephen Moore was in the Oval Office
to go through some great economic news.
Speaker 7 (04:33):
In his first five months in office, starting in January
through the end of June, the average median household income
adjusted for inflation for the average family in America is
already up one and seventy four dollars. That's a very
incredible number.
Speaker 1 (04:49):
The CEO of Investipedia, Caleb Silver, will be with us
at nine oh five to go over all of the
current economic figures and what they exactly mean and transport
to I love this story. Transportation advocates gathered at thirty
fourth and First in Manhattan to prove that the thirty
fourth Street bus is too slow, so they raced the bus,
(05:12):
but by walking, they just walked at a regular pace
all the way to eighth Street. So from First to
eighth it took him fifteen minutes. It took the bus
twenty two minutes.
Speaker 3 (05:25):
That bus should be going, should do that distance in
five to six minutes max.
Speaker 1 (05:30):
And we're hoping that a busway will bring that. Yeah,
that's what it was all about, getting a bus laid
on the thirty fourth Street bus route, and this stunt
may just do that. Now, let's talk a little bit
more about the mayoral race, because it's changed. It's changed.
Andrew Cuomo has a Trump problem. And ever since The
(05:51):
New York Times came out and said that Donald Trump,
well we knew he was concerned about the race, but
he's been more involved in that behind the scenes, making
several phone calls talking about who was the best chance
of winning. If he can clear the field and get
some other candidates out of the race, who would have
the best chance. And it turned out the answer kept
coming up. It's Andrew Cuomo.
Speaker 8 (06:11):
Former Governor. Cuomo has been conspiring with President Trump about
the fate of this city, about the future of this city.
Speaker 1 (06:20):
Yeah, so, Zorimamdani has been running on this. Isn't it amazing?
In New York City? Not many other places in the country,
but in New York City, when the President of the
United States of America's name is mentioned, it's a bad thing.
It's a bad thing because we are so far to
(06:42):
the left, lunatic. Not you, I know you're not, but
like eighty percent of the people in the city are.
If you take away Staten Island, it's probably ninety percent.
And so the president of the United States. Now, you
would think having a mayor coming in to office and
having an affiliation with the President of the United States
(07:04):
would be a good thing for the city. They don't care.
It is massive Trump derangement syndrome. It's in the air
in New York. Everybody has it. Almost everyone has it.
It afflicts eight out of ten people in the city.
So they don't care. They don't care that it makes
(07:24):
no sense that it would hurt the city to have
a mayor that's fighting with the president. They want it
because they don't like Trump. So if you're aligned with Trump,
then you're not going to win. It killed Mayor Adams.
The scandal wasn't that bad. If you remember, his poll
numbers were still pretty good. When President Biden was coming
(07:45):
after him because he opposed the migrants coming to New York,
he had the nerve to speak out against that, and
then he sick. The FBI ow nobody cared about that. Oh,
but as soon as Donald Trump helped them, that was
the no. That was the problem. It is bizarre. It
is just bizarre. It's irrational. It's irrational across the country,
(08:09):
but it is absolutely real, and it's causing Andrew Cuomo
to say, I don't even know the guy.
Speaker 2 (08:15):
I don't recall the last time I spoke with him.
I left the message after the attempted assassination. I don't
believe I spoke with him. I believe I left the
message for him.
Speaker 1 (08:27):
Okay, I completely call BS on that. That's just not true.
And here's why I know it's not true. And let's
just take everybody that's listening right now, you and you,
and you, and you take everybody. If you called the
president or somebody running for president, the former president after
(08:49):
an assassination attempt. Wouldn't you remember if you talked to him?
He said, I can't remember if I left the message.
I can't remember if I talk to him. That sure
sounds like a guy who is lying.
Speaker 8 (09:04):
We know that Andrew Cuomo will sell working people out
for his interests, for the interests of the billionaires that
supported him, for the interests of Donald Trump, because all
of those interests are lining up as one and the same.
Speaker 1 (09:19):
Maybe Donald Trump did this on purpose so that the
Democrats would eat their own because they're after each other.
They're all attacking each other right now. Eric Adams is
in the background saying me too, Me too, me too.
He's in third place and fourth place in some polls.
But let me ask you something, if they keep going
(09:41):
after each other, doesn't that give Curtis Leewa a little
bit more of a chance. I mean, he's being left
out of this entire story. He's the only one that
can absolutely distance himself from Donald Trump and said that
Donald Trump should stay out of it. And he rings true,
and he comes into it with about twenty percent of
the vote because of the Republicans, they're going to vote,
(10:03):
so It's going to be interesting. I mean, you know,
Republicans vote, and so I think it makes the Curtis
leewacoundiacy even that more viable. We'll find out, but this
story's not going away anytime soon. Apparently, a bear fell
in love with a sports mascot, which led to a
(10:26):
dangerous chase during a promotional video shoot. We'll tell you
what this is all about and how it turned out.
