Speaker 1 (00:01):
Now it's seventeen w oars Beat on the Street with
Natalie Migliori.
Speaker 2 (00:07):
So the governor's race just got a whole lot more exciting.
County executive in NASA County, Bruce Blakeman is in the race,
at least to Phonic already in the race, Kathy Hokle
up for reelection. This is exciting, right, So I'm sure
Natalie Mgliori's Beat on the Street has found a lot
of people that are psyched about the race, that are
talking about it, right Natalie, Yeah.
Speaker 3 (00:29):
Larry June, and you're about to find out, you know,
because NASA County Executive Bruce Laskin, he's the second Republican
to announce he's buying to be New York's next governor.
Comes after Upstate New York Representative at least to Phonic
announced her campaign been last month. We were out on
the street when she announced it that morning. They both
(00:51):
want to take on Democratic Governor Kathy Hochel. So are
people familiar with Blakeman?
Speaker 1 (00:57):
I don't know who.
Speaker 4 (00:58):
I'm not familiar with him at all. No, But I
feel like Long Island is different compared to the city
in the borough. I mean it's so Burrow, but it's
more open.
Speaker 1 (01:08):
Bruce Wringsen Blakeman, no, no, never heard of him.
Speaker 3 (01:12):
Have you heard of Bruce Blakeman before. No, he's a
Republican wants to run for governor.
Speaker 4 (01:17):
On the against the election is what next?
Speaker 1 (01:19):
Nova is she up next to?
Speaker 4 (01:20):
Okay, I've seen them running.
Speaker 1 (01:22):
Yeah, yeah, you know everybody's running right now. Everybody wants
to win the race, but we want the right person
in the chair.
Speaker 3 (01:32):
Well, I would first and foremost like to point out
that Long Island is not a borough, as somebody had said.
And secondly, it's true we went out when Stephanik first
launched your campaign and people knew who she was Larry,
if you remember, people had things to say about her
that morning. So Blakeman might have a little bit more
work to do when it comes to name recognition for
(01:53):
people around the state outside of Long Island or off
Long Island. But the name everybody he recognizes. Kathy Hochel,
to me, she did.
Speaker 1 (02:04):
Too much flip flopping, you know, she was with this
MTA thing that to me wasn't really appropriate for the people.
Congestion pricing wasn't a good look. I don't live in
New Jersey. But if I lived in Jersey, I would
not be happy with her co justin pricing is just
too much and time we living right now, I think
when I wanted to alone, no, but then yes, because
anybody else is not qualified to even be in that
(02:25):
position right now, because she sucks. Larry.
Speaker 3 (02:33):
A lot of New Yorkers were hung up on congestion
pricing this particular morning. Bleakeman, who announced his campaign on
Fots and Friends this morning, is running on affordability, doubting
his record of making NASA the safest county in America
really always makes that list, and keeping taxes flat during
his tenure. But with the mayor's race just wrapping up
(02:55):
and the new year not even here yet, is it
too early to start talking about the governor's race next year?
Speaker 1 (03:02):
Not necessarily, If we could think about it now and
put things in perspective and put them in place so
that we do get a decent governor, that'll help us out.
Speaker 4 (03:10):
I don't think so, because it's you know, before you know,
with the holidays will be over, and sometimes you need
tomp just wind out about the candidates and how they
stand on the issues. So no, it's never too early
with politics. But you gotta do your own research besides
seeing we hear the headlines to give the right decision
to vote for the right people that you want.
Speaker 1 (03:28):
So you guys start early to know who's so it
is never too early to like get that conversation going
all right, pretty.
Speaker 3 (03:35):
So there are some little excitement there. Maybe I piqued
some interest there, Larry. Maybe people are gonna do a
couple of Google searches, a couple of things searches.
Speaker 1 (03:44):
Now.
Speaker 3 (03:44):
Governor Hopel has called Wakeman a quote maga fanboy, while
he has called her a failure a lot of representatives.
You know, Stephanic also called her the worst governor in
New York States, So they're kind of both running on
those lines.
Speaker 4 (03:57):
Now.
Speaker 3 (03:58):
New Yorkers are certainly paying attention into the issues throughout
the state and they just want someone who will address
what matters most cost.
Speaker 1 (04:06):
Of living, homelessness of course, and minimum wage.
Speaker 4 (04:10):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (04:11):
Are you willing to listen to anyone though, to see
what they have to offer?
Speaker 4 (04:14):
Are hoping for everything. I don't think political party matters,
more about like if you get the right person in
charge of the right policies and if you're well formed
when you do a vote for them.
Speaker 3 (04:22):
Why do you think people feel like that.
Speaker 4 (04:24):
They just want something to change, right, That's my opinion.
Speaker 1 (04:27):
It depends who it is. I mean, who do you
trust anymore? That's I think that's what it comes down
for the American people. Who do you trust? It sounds
good one day and the next next month, it's like,
you know, it's atact Tophe so.
Speaker 3 (04:38):
Well, Larry, I once heard somebody I want to talk
to somebody called the election cycle. It's like a game
of golf. It's very long. So we'll really see what happens,
who jumps in, who jumps out, and what go and
what goes on. But there's definitely going to be now
a Republican primary to see who who goes up against Hope.
Speaker 2 (05:01):
Yeah, you know, you're exactly right. And people aren't paying
attention right now. And it's the holidays too. They're not
paying attention to much else except what they're going to
get for Christmas and what they're going to get somebody
else for Christmas and can they afford Christmas? So people
aren't paying attention now. It'll be like a month before
the election, we do all the ads start hitting the air.
(05:22):
A couple of months We're into it, but really not
that many other people are into it. That's what you
find out. You're disappointed. I'm disappointed every time, but it's
just the way life is. Thanks a lot. Natalie Migliori
is going to be back tomorrow morning at eight fifty
