Speaker 1 (00:00):
Now let's get to Laura, current political commentator and former
NASA County executive of one of our Now i'd say
our favorite Democrat, Laura, how are you?

Speaker 2 (00:09):
I'm great? How are you, Larry?

Speaker 1 (00:11):
Well? Have you been charged at all with anything, because
it seems like every Democratic politician in the area has
been charged or is being investigated about something.

Speaker 2 (00:20):
Yeah. I think it's a status symbol. By this point.
If you haven't gotten the attention of the d of
the Trump GJ and you're a Democrat, maybe he should
try a little harder. I was listening to what you
were saying, Larry, and I actually think this helps. This helps.
I mean, if we're talking about Andrew Cuomo, this is
good for him. And then you have, you know, the

(00:41):
one who's number two in the polls in the primary
that's coming up next month, talking about Obama being quote evil.
That's not going to hurt either. That's not going to
hurt Clomo at all.

Speaker 1 (00:53):
Not only that, he's having a lot of problems this week.
And I'm sure much of this is planted and political,
because that's the game. But zorin mom it turns out
political had a big story that he he didn't sign
on which as a bill everybody signs on acknowledging the
Holocaust four years in a row. He refused to sign it,
and he's calling that a political hit piece of course,

(01:13):
but it does call into question some of the things
he's done in his background and said about the Jewish
state and his background. But it certainly since he just
did this last year refused to vote on it again,
it calls into some some big questions about zorin Mam donni.

Speaker 2 (01:34):
Yeah, and he can say, oh, you know, I'm sure
he'll have some sort of justification there was something in
the language or this and that, But honestly, in New
York that's not going to help. That's not going to
help you win elected office. And it's just, you know,
I think I'll all roads lead to everything that we're
looking at at leads to Cuomo still still being dominant,
quite dominant in this race. And you know, you wonder,

(01:58):
why is the Trump administry and going after all of
these Democrats and he's just angry that he felt that
he was gone after. Does see them as threats and
want to necap them before they get anywhere? Or is
it just fun for him? Is it sport? I don't know.
It could be any or all of the above.

Speaker 1 (02:13):
Well, they make it easy for them, don't they. Because
Andrew Cuomo. I don't think there's any question he lied
to Congress, and that's what he would be charged with.
I mean, they had proof right there. They had him
editing their report that was clearing him from the Health Commission,
or had his writing in it, and they used his
writing in the report after he denied he did that.
And then you have La Monica mcgiver, who you can

(02:36):
see hitting an ice officer with her elbow. If that
was you or I, we would be charged. So I'm
not sure that this is what you're alluding to a strategy.
I think these are legitimate.

Speaker 2 (02:51):
Well, obviously it's got to play out with the Lamonica thing.
I haven't really followed as closely, you know, come on,
I do think there's some politics going on here and
some intimidation making an example of someone. So maybe the
next person who protests thinks twice. I mean you got
to take that into consideration as well when it comes

(03:12):
to Clomo. I mean, look, I'm not in the man's brain,
but he didn't remember he was asked a question. He
said he didn't remember, so I don't know. It seems
incredibly political to me. I think Donald Trump he should
know better because he saw how well his own victimization,
his you know, what he saw as his victimization from
the DOJ when he was out of office as very helpful.

(03:37):
He raised a lot of money. Anytime, oh there was
a new arrest or a new indictment, you know, there
he would go with the emails and the social media
shilling for money and support. And one could argue that
it helped him more than hurt him with his supporters.
To be seen as a victim and then to be
seen as someone who is being targeted by the president.
I think that only elevates you in the mind of

(04:01):
the voters, especially Democratic voters.

Speaker 1 (04:03):
Yeah. No, I agree with you, I mean, and certainly
so does Andrew Cuomo. He put on an ad almost immediately.
He rushed to get an ad out to say, you know,
Donald Trump is after me, and if Donald Trump says something,
you know I'm right. And so I think that the
proof is in the pudding about that. What about Leticia James.
Leticia James, this one might be a little bit more

(04:24):
serious than we thought at first, because now she's coming
out after saying she did nothing wrong and saying it
turns out I made a mistake on those mortgage forms.

Speaker 2 (04:36):
Yeah, it's always good to admit when you made a mistake,
and it's always good to admit it early and then
say what you're going to do to fix it. And
you know, I don't know if this is a case
of better late than never, but it's going to be
a distraction for her. It's going to consume a lot

(04:57):
of media attention, and it's also going to you know,
when these kinds of things blow up, it's hard to
get attention for the other stuff that you're doing and
that your office is during She's gonna have to deal
with that. I mean, always good to come clean. Too
many people lie in, especially in politics.

Speaker 1 (05:14):
And.

Speaker 2 (05:16):
I guess, I mean, this is going to be It's
like I feel like I have to get the popcorn
every day to watch what's going to happen with all
of the crazy politics political world we're living in.

Speaker 1 (05:25):
Hey, something that I've been paying too much attention to.
I was in New Jersey, not so much the rest
of the East Coast, but just because New Jersey made
the most noise about it. But Donald Trump has lifted
the ban on offshore wind turbines off Long Island, and
it sounds like he's doing it because he wants to
get the pipeline and maybe there's a trade in the works.

(05:46):
But how big of a story is that on Long Island?
Would there are people a lot of people fighting against that.

Speaker 2 (05:51):
It's a big story, you have, It's pretty divisive. The
communities by the shore, you know, tend to not want it,
and it's really easy to spread this information about WIND.
I think this is actually a real victory for the governor,
for Kathy Hochel. She's got to feel really good about
this because this is I mean, so much money, so

(06:12):
much time, so much planning has gone into this already.
And it's also a lot of jobs, a lot of
union trade jobs are at stake as well, and I
think that's something that was smart of the governor to
highlight with Trump because those are his voters, those are
the people who love them, and you know, does he
want to screw them in this project. I'm pro WIND.

(06:33):
I think it's actually so logical to me that this
is the way to go. I'm for the you know,
quote unquote all of the above approach and Honestly, if
he could make a deal with the governor, that's good
for him, it's good for New York, and I think
it's good for the governor's political prospects as well.

Speaker 1 (06:48):
And we're good to go now, Laura Kerr and political
commentator and former NASA County executive. Thanks again, Laura. Talked
to you next week.

Speaker 2 (06:54):
