Speaker 1 (00:00):
Well, just like every single day of the Trump administration,
there's a whole lot going on. So let's get the
latest from Reagan. Reese Daily call her White House Correspondent,
and Independent Women's Forum Visiting Fellow. She is with us
every Monday at eight thirty five. Good morning, Reagan, Good morning.

(00:23):
So I wanted to talk to you. You you spend
a lot of time in Washington, d C. Since this
federal involvement with law enforcement. Have you seen a difference.

Speaker 2 (00:34):
Well, I, you know, I can speak to this.

Speaker 3 (00:36):
I moved from Capitol Hill out of the city to
Virginia because I wasn't feeling safe in DC anymore. And
this has happened almost about a year, maybe like three
or four months ago. Just had a crime scare myself,
an attempted break in at my house on Capitol Hill.
No longer felt safe, so I moved to Virginia. I so,

(00:59):
you know, the President said he needs to crack down
on crime, and people started freaking out, saying, oh, DC
is really not as bad as you think it is.

Speaker 2 (01:07):
It absolutely is.

Speaker 3 (01:09):
I mean you could walk into the Daily Caller office
and every single person would have some crime scarce, some
story about how something crazy happened to them since the crackdown.
You know, I am so fortunate that I work in
the White House. I work right next to the White House,

(01:29):
and so that's probably the safest area of Washington, DC.
I don't spend a ton of time in the city,
quite frankly, anymore, because of just.

Speaker 2 (01:37):
How unsafe it has gotten.

Speaker 3 (01:40):
But I have heard from a lot of my colleagues
who do loop around the city and they feel a
lot safer now.

Speaker 1 (01:46):
So they're your colleagues of the Daily Caller. You do
talk with other members of the media, even though they
may not report it as this, are they admitting that
the city is safer, you know, within the.

Speaker 2 (02:01):
White House walls. It's hard to, you know, gauge how
the media really feels.

Speaker 3 (02:08):
I think that sometimes there's right now with the Trump administration,
there's a bit of a front. There's wanting to be
the tough guy, you know, thinking that they're fighting some
evil force within the Trump administration. And so in terms
of what my colleagues think about whether DC's actually become safer,
I haven't really been able to tell. I think that

(02:29):
the media has had an absolute meltdown. They first melted
down about Trump taking over DC and trying to crack
down on crime. And now the meltdown is that he's
not doing it correctly and he's not going to the
right areas and so, you know, and typically that means
that Donald Trump is doing something correctly. You know.

Speaker 1 (02:48):
It's funny I push back on the word takeover time
and time again, because the way this is working, it
seems to me, is that the DC police are out
in front on all these arrests. They have support, They
absolutely have supportive intelligence, They have support of all of
these troops that are an intimidating factor on the streets,
and they certainly are intimidating for criminals. There are a

(03:10):
breath of fresh air from what I've heard from the residents.
But the word has been used so much a federal takeover.
Is that actually correct the way this is playing out, well.

Speaker 3 (03:23):
I mean, for it to be an actual federal takeover,
I think Congress is going to have to act to
federalize DC.

Speaker 2 (03:29):
But it's not just the DC police force. There are
many government agencies that are alongside the DC police on
the streets every night. The last couple of days, there's
been about two thousand personnel out on the streets in DC.
And these are agencies like DHS, the FBI, Capitol Hill Police,

(03:52):
other government agencies who are marching alongside the DC police
to help crack down on crime. And so in that sense,
I do think that the federal government is helping there
maybe taking over.

Speaker 3 (04:04):
I personally think the word takeover is cool. Use I
use crackdown a lot when I talk about it, but
it does feel like he's taking over the city in
the sense that he is he's taking it back right there.

Speaker 1 (04:19):
You go.

Speaker 2 (04:20):
That's a great one.

Speaker 1 (04:21):
Yeah, that's a great way to put it, because I
know some of the some of the troops and some
of the officials have pushed back on that word. There
is Uh. We did have played part of a great
interview that I think it was on Fox, but I'm
not positive with the Director of the US Marshals who
said something I didn't know he said as part of

(04:42):
this involvement with Washington, d C. It's not just the troops.
It a lot of it is just the intelligence. We
have the FBI, we have Homeland Security giving information to
them on a constant basis on where these bad guys
are and what information they have on their whereabouts and

(05:03):
that's helped to Now, is it over seven hundred arrest
right now?

Speaker 3 (05:08):
Yes, I actually haven't looked at the latest numbers, but
I know that on Saturday it was over seven hundred arrests.

Speaker 2 (05:16):
And it's unbelievable.

Speaker 3 (05:17):
I mean, there's I believe upwards of three hundred illegal
aliens who've been arrested in Washington, D C. And every
time I get the sistics every morning from the White House,
I'm in awe how many just one criminals they're catching,
but illegal aliens that are in Washington, D C. That
they are you know, finding for not just being illegal aliens,

(05:38):
but also for other crimes. There have been five known
gang members who have been captured as well, and I
believe two MS thirteen gang members, which is unbelievable.

Speaker 1 (05:47):
Yeah, it's murderers and rapists and guns. You know how
many how many lives are saved just in getting one
hundred guns off the street. I think it's amazing. And
and the pushback is about other cities accepting this. You're
talking about federal manpower, federal funds, all federal intelligence all

(06:09):
coming to your city to fight crime. I think one
of the reasons that Donald Trump is doing this I'd
like to know what you think is because it puts
the Democrats on the other side of fighting crime. He's saying,
I'm willing to do anything to fight crime in your city,
and they're saying.

Speaker 3 (06:24):
No, yeah, it's you know, it's it's the classic classic Democrats.
And I I think what you're seeing right now in Washington,
d C. I think a lot of people are seeing
through the mainstream media and the legacy media and the
Democrats outcry of the of the crackdown. You know, it's

(06:47):
there are National Guard members, you know, walking around the
streets of DC.

Speaker 2 (06:52):
They're in the metro kind.

Speaker 3 (06:54):
Of watching you, making sure you're getting on the metro
and making sure there's not crime. It's not this militaryation
of Washington, d C. It's not like the military is
constantly marching down the streets and making sure we're acting orderly.
And so I think the average American wants to feel
safe in their cities. And so if President Trump does

(07:16):
go to Chicago, if he does go to New York
and he tries to crack down on crime and those
cities as well, I'm sure we'll see the same outrage
from the mainstream media and Democrats. But you know, I
have to think, Larry, that the average American loves this
and feel safe and wants to walk home.

Speaker 2 (07:35):
Safe at night.

Speaker 1 (07:35):
One hundred percent agree. Reagan Race Daily Cora White House Correspondent,
