Speaker 1 (00:00):
Let's get to Rory O'Neil, wr National correspondent. Rory, I
guess the big question now is how is Iran going
to respond to.
Speaker 2 (00:08):
This, right? And in what avenue? I mean, will it
be a military strike against a US base near them?
Will it be something involved in the Strait of Hormuz
and shutting down the flow of oil there, Will it
be a cyber attack or are there sleeper cells here
in the US? You know, Iran certainly has been weakened,
(00:29):
especially by those Israeli military strikes, but they're sort of
now like that wounded animal in a corner, and they
do have some pretty a couple of sharp teeth left.
Speaker 1 (00:40):
Right, there's no way they're going to be able to
launch any kind of military attack against the United States.
It would be suicide. And what you went through are
all of the possibilities, And I guess the greatest fear
right now are the sleeper cells because in the last
four years under President Biden, we have no idea who
(01:01):
came into the country. There are people that called the
god Aways, and there's been concern from the very beginning
that some of them may be terrorists because we picked
up people on the terrorists watch list at the border.
Is that the number one concern right now in the country.
Speaker 2 (01:19):
Well, I think for domestically, for Americans, honestly, I'd be
more concerned about the cyber attack capability that they have.
We know that they're pretty good at it in Iran,
so let's see what they're capable of doing. So that's
something to be on the lookout for. But look, I've
also seen that in cities with large Jewish populations, what
places like Miami Beach, the police are putting out alert saying,
(01:42):
you know, we are aware, we are increasing our patrols.
You know, the local law enforcement really are stepping up
to meet this threat.
Speaker 1 (01:49):
Yeah, it makes no sense for them to attack military
in the area, which they have done in the past,
because that's been fortified. There's forty thousand troops right now
and two air Care Air Carrier Task Force that are
in the area. So I don't think summery yeah, exactly,
submarines and so I don't think that's going to happen.
And closing off the strait of harmuz Rory, that would
(02:13):
hurt them more than it hurts the rest of the world.
Speaker 2 (02:16):
Well, right, and it would also hurt their good good
friend China. So that's another reason that they may not
shut it down, is because it would do a lot
of economic harm to China as well, So that might
be a last ditch reserve attempt to try to inflict pain.
But yeah, we've also right now got what the Foreign
Minister for Iran is meeting with Vladimir Putin as we speak,
(02:39):
So that meeting is happening in Moscow, So that Iran
Russia China relationship seems to be getting tighter and tighter.
Speaker 1 (02:46):
Yeah, and by the way, the oil is sixty to
seventy percent of the Iranian economy, so I don't think
that's going to be an option. Rory O'Neil, thank you
so much. Talk to you again tomorrow.
Speaker 2 (02:58):
Thank Larry
