Music City Minute featuring Lady Wilson, who says she once
hit up Tim McGraw for career advice when she was
a teenager. She was a talented eighteen year old singer
songwriter looking to make the leap from Louisiana to Nashville.
She reads reached out to Tim McGrath so cute. She's
got an exhibit at the Country Music Hall of Fame
(04:16):
right now, and in it is this letter that she
wrote to Tim when she was in her first year
of college. She was actually studying to be a nurse.
She said, dear mister Tim McGrath, my name is Lady Wilson.
I'm from Baskin, Louisiana, and I'm eighteen years old and
i just entered my first semester at college to pursue
a nursing degree. I've been writing songs since I was
nine years old. She went out to point out that
(04:39):
they were from the same hometown and that her grandfather
used to support Tim before he made it big. She
closed the letter out by saying singing, writing, and performing
are the most important.
Speaker 1 (04:49):
Things in my life.
Speaker 3 (04:51):
All I need is the opportunity I can do the rest.
HUW That was fifteen years ago. Lady says that she's
still never I met Tim McGrath. What how is that possible?
But she did manage to leave nursing in her rear view.
I think she would be a great nurse. Well. Hopefully
Laney will get the opportunity to meet Tim McGrath soon enough.
(05:13):
I think it's wild that she hasn't had the chance
to meet him. But you think, I guess. I just
assume that all the country singers just know each other, right,
at least that's how it is in my imagination.
Speaker 4 (05:23):
Ninety three point one w POC Traffic Unword Madama lam
Well in.
Speaker 3 (05:31):
Cana, ninety three point on WBOC, Good Morning and Happy Friday.
There's George because uh, Earlier we were talking about songs
that make you smile, and that is one of them.
Earlier we were talking about the Menendez brothers being denied parole.
(05:53):
Amanda says, I personally think the brothers should be paroled.
They did their time, but they were abused as well,
and so saw no other choice. So we love your
opinions here seven to seventy nine, six to two. Begin
your message with higher Hey is the text line, or
you can call it one hundred three two one thirty
six ninety three.
Speaker 1 (06:10):
All right.
Speaker 3 (06:10):
I read this article the other day that I thought
was really fascinating, and I want you to let me
know what.
Speaker 1 (06:14):
You think about it.
Speaker 3 (06:16):
I guess they're saying that gen Z is not hitting
life milestones, and I think this is really fascinating. Okay,
so what they mean is gen Z, which is like
the up and comingly college grad generation, they are not
hitting like key milestones like home ownership, marriage, starting a family,
(06:39):
financial stability, et cetera, et cetera, and experts are concerned.
Speaker 1 (06:44):
And I think this is fascinating.
Speaker 3 (06:46):
I'd love to hear from people in gen Z or
even like young millennials who are having trouble with this.
Speaker 1 (06:52):
What do you think about this?
Speaker 3 (06:53):
They're saying that the reason that gen Z individuals can't
purchase homes is because costs are too high and the
finance stress is too much. They're also saying that they
don't want to own homes because then they have to
take care of them and it's a lot of work.
When they're they have to work sometimes two or three
jobs just to get by marriage and family. The pressure
(07:15):
of financial instability has led a lot of gen Z
members to postpone marriage, decide not to get married, or
not have any kids, or sometimes they have like one
maybe two kids.
Speaker 1 (07:27):
Interesting.
Speaker 3 (07:28):
They're also saying that gen Z is facing career progression problems.
Speaker 1 (07:33):
In fact, they don't.
Speaker 3 (07:35):
Really like to work the traditional nine to five, so
instead they start their own businesses. They have like just
a whole bunch of side hustles. Just really fascinating. Like
it's almost like gen Z is deciding not to go
for the traditional quote unquote American dream, which I don't
who knows if that's really attainable anymore. Anyway, Anyway, I
(07:55):
just thought that article is really fascinating. Would love to
hear your opinion on it. Seven to seven nine to
begin your message with higher hay contributing factors they're saying,
societal expectations, mental health challenges, financial stress.
Speaker 4 (08:10):
Dear Lord, can you help me filling out of grave?
Speaker 1 (08:15):
Crawling back to heaven from this hell on earth?
Speaker 4 (08:18):
I'm made my bloody.
Speaker 1 (08:21):
Nate Smith The World on Fire ninety.
Speaker 3 (08:22):
Three point one WPOC talking about the younger generations and
whether or not they're hitting their quote unquote milestones, which
I think inherently is kind of judgy, but it is
what is happening. Someone said, we're cooked. I can't even
have friends anymore. We went to the diner the other
day and it was fifty five dollars.
Speaker 1 (08:44):
For two of us. I mean, I know everything is
really expensive.
Speaker 3 (08:49):
Someone texted in, Hi, I'm a thirty three year old millennial.
Nothing is affordable. I don't blame gen Z. I'm even
thinking about a side hustle. At this point, someone else
said high WPOC. I'm a gen Z. I finished high
school in college early, and I have many side hustles
because each day is unique and I can make my
own hours with work and my mental and health needs.
(09:12):
Many of my peers are struggling with similar things. I
don't think we're leaving the American dream behind. I think
things are changing and we are using many resources to
adapt to the world. After all, houses don't cost five
raspberries anymore. Uh.
Speaker 1 (09:28):
I like that.
Speaker 3 (09:28):
I like that they said that they're using their resources
to adapt to the world because they think that's kind
of how we have to do it, especially if we
you know, if you want to be able to afford
things really interesting way in at seven seven ninety six two,
begin your message with higher hay or you can call
eight hundred three two thirty six ninety three.
Speaker 1 (09:47):
How are you adapting to this world?
Speaker 3 (09:51):
If you're a gen Z or a millennial and you
feel like things maybe aren't.
Speaker 1 (09:55):
Set up for you to succeed. I'd like to hear from.
Speaker 3 (09:57):
AM ninety three point one WPOC Darius Rucker wagon Wheel.
Allegedly he's currently working on some new music in Europe,
(10:17):
so I'm super excited to hear what that is all about. Okay,
so we're talking about gen Z not hitting their milestones
as they grow into adulthood. And typically when an article
like this comes out, things get pretty judgy from other demographics,
other you know, older generations and stuff like that. So
(10:39):
I'm hoping, like by letting the millennials and gen Z
people like say how they're feeling that maybe we can,
you know, keep an open mind. Someone said, I turned
eighteen during the height of the COVID pandemic, and now
I'm in my early twenties, and I find myself not
resonating with my age. In fact, I feel stuck somewhere
(11:01):
between seventeen and nineteen. Compared to my family members and
some older friends, I feel like I've achieved far less,
and I feel bad about that because, like, you know,
the pandemic kind of hit everybody in different age ranges
a little bit differently that I can imagine as if
(11:22):
you were turning into an adult when everything was shut down,
that must have staunted your development in some way, And
I guess I didn't think about that until I read
that text.
Speaker 1 (11:35):
So I think that's really interesting.
Speaker 3 (11:38):
And I can imagine that other people who weren't in
the same life phase when that happened are sort of
judgmental about that. So you opened my eyes a little bit,
So that's kind of a bummer. I know that my
daughter turned fourteen during the height of the pandemic, and like,
as a freshman in high school, that was really difficult
(11:58):
because that's about the time of life where you want
to like start doing stuff outside of the house. And
I know that she and all of her friends then
all of a sudden, couldn't you know. So it's interesting
how I the pandemic is sort of playing into all
this too. As always, I love your thoughtful responses. Thank
you everyone for weighing an eight hundred three two one
thirty six ninety three. If you want to call or
(12:19):
Tech seven seven ninety sixty, begin your message with higher.
Speaker 4 (12:22):
Hay ninety three point one WPOC traffic looks like.
Speaker 3 (12:27):
It's not too shabby of a Friday morning out there.
In fact, I just walked I don't have a window
in the studio, but I just walked by the window
a few minutes ago and I was like, Ah, it's
so pretty out and it's not even that hot. There's
an accident moved to the right shoulder on ninety five
northbound at seventy seven. There's an accident Frankfurt ev at
Bella Vista Avenue in Baltimore City, some debris in the roadway,
(12:47):
and the outer loop at Pulaski Highway. There's an accident
on the outer loop at seventy looks like it's been
moved to the shoulder and it's kind of affecting the
ramp to seventy as well. And then we're still dealing
with that vehicle fire on Sinclair Lane at Moravia Road.
Speaker 1 (13:02):
There's your traffic.
Speaker 5 (13:09):
Just breaking up with.
Speaker 3 (13:10):
The ninety three point one w POC old.
Speaker 1 (13:18):
Dominion and break up with him.
Speaker 3 (13:20):
We're talking about songs that just definitely make you smile.
Speaker 1 (13:24):
So text seven seven nine six two.
Speaker 3 (13:26):
Begin your message with high or hey or eight hundred

Speaker 2 (13:32):
Ninety three point one WPOC Beth and ease bree, all
the things you need to know to get you day
started all right.
Speaker 3 (13:40):
The fair, the Maryland State Fair open this weekend for
the first time, the Ravens taking on the Commanders. Big
weekend around here. In California and Texas.
Speaker 1 (13:55):
This story is while this is why, you guys.
Speaker 3 (13:58):
It's hard to explain the amount of time that I have,
but I will try.
Speaker 1 (14:02):
So you know, in Texas they just approved.
Speaker 3 (14:07):
The redistricting of the congressional map. Well now in California,
Governor Gavin Newsom signed a redistrict redistricting plan into law
yesterday that would shift their congressional map. So Texas added
five Republican seats, and now California has added five Democratic
(14:31):
seats to their I don't know they really added, they redistricted,
but I think this is really big and really historical.
My daughter's taking a polypsy class this year my college,
and she's like, oh, Mom, I don't know, like that's
not our major, but she was like, I just feel
(14:51):
like it's gonna be interesting right now. And I was like,
I feel like we're literally watching history books being written
right now. I think this is part of that. And
I just wanted to take a moment because I think
it's big all right, onto lighter stuff. You know. Millie
Bobby Brown and just married Von Jovi's son Jake. They
(15:13):
welcome to baby girl via adoption. Recently, they posted on
Instagram that they're so happy she's young. But she said
her mom had her when she was twenty one and
her dad was nineteen, and she wants to be a
young mom and she doesn't even need.
Speaker 1 (15:27):
To birth the baby. She said. Adoption is the same
to me, so I think go for it. Milly and Jake.
The couple got married last year.
Speaker 3 (15:38):
HGTV canceled seven fan favorite shows. They've also announced a
shlew of renewals and some new shows, and they sound
kind of fake if you ask me. They are a
couple of the new ones that they announced tropic like
it's hot and hoarding for the holidays. Yeah, yeah, HTTV
(15:59):
Is that what we're doing?
Speaker 1 (16:01):
All right? Happy Gilmore to hit a Hole in One.
Speaker 3 (16:04):
It broke records the most streams ever for a movie
in streaming history. And I heard that it cost as
much money to make Happy Gilmore as it did to
make Weapons and Sinners. But I arguably is it better
because it's like family friendly everybody can watch it.
Speaker 1 (16:25):
It's kind of a throwback remake. I don't know.
Speaker 3 (16:29):
Let me know what you think about that. Seven seven
nine six two Begin your message with higher, Hay, Nearly
three quarters of Americans have skipped, rescheduled, or declined plans
just so that they could watch football instead.
Speaker 1 (16:43):
According to survey.
Speaker 3 (16:44):
Also, half of full time workers admit that football impacts
their productivity. I just thought that was exciting given the.
Speaker 1 (16:55):

Speaker 4 (17:04):

Speaker 3 (17:08):
All right, we've got an accident on seventy westbound at
exit thirty five, A medical emergency on the outer loop
between ninety five and bel Air Road. There's emergency roadwork
on thirteen Business at Main Street, and then four oh

Speaker 4 (17:55):

your fire Department's fields of fire in September.
Speaker 1 (20:25):
Make sure you look that up and grab some tickets
because that's going.
Speaker 3 (20:28):
To be a fun show. All right, let's talk about
Disney World. This is wild seven seven nine six two.
Begin your message with higher, Hey or call me eight
hundred three two one thirty six ninety three. Uh, Disney,
I know there are a lot of Disney adults out
there listening. Uh. These would just be like adults that
still or love Disney more than they did when they
(20:50):
were kids. Uh. Let's talk about how expensive it is.
The cheapest single day ticket is the Magic Kingdom. It's
one hundred nineteen dollars and it goes up from there. Obviously,
we've got food, we've got merch, we've got all kinds
of stuff. And then if you want to go to
more than one park, and then if you want to
get a fast pass, blah blah blah. You're really dumping
(21:12):
some cash into this, right, Well, I didn't even know
that there's a whole nother world at Disney where you
can spend thousands, like an unbelievable amount.
Speaker 1 (21:24):
All right, listen to this. I've never even heard of this.
It's called Club thirty three.
Speaker 3 (21:29):
It's an ultra exclusive members only club inside Disneyland. It's
Disney World, Tokyo, Disney, Shanghai Disney. It features gourmet dining
and upscale lounges. The invitation fee is as much as
fifty thousand dollars and the annual fee is thirty two
(21:50):
thousand dollars.
Speaker 1 (21:51):
That can't be true, right, there's also a waiting list
to become a member.
Speaker 3 (21:56):
That's wild. Then there's this other thing called Golden Oak.
It's Disney World's private residential community in Florida, where you
live like in Disney World. Basically, homes start in the
low millions. Homeowners get VIP perks like concierge service, and
they pay an average of thirty thousand dollars a year
(22:17):
in Hoafees and it's only a five minute drive from
Magic Kingdom. Oh yes, please, I'd love to live in
Orlando for millions of dollars.
Speaker 1 (22:27):
What Ah.
Speaker 3 (22:29):
Then there's Cinderella's Castle Suite. This is on top of
Cinderella's Castle, Magic Kingdom and Disney World. It's the most
exclusive place to stay. It was originally intended to be
Walt Disney's apartment for him and his family. It can
sleep up to six people. You can't book it. You
have to be invited or you have to win a
contest to stay there.
Speaker 1 (22:50):
I mean.
Speaker 3 (22:50):
They also have stuff that like regular people buy, like
the VIP tour, which is anywhere from five hundred to
nine hundred dollars an hour in a minimum of seven hour.
That's like what And that gives you onto the rides?
Like those are the people that you see walk by
you and like get onto the ridesh I just my
mind is blown. Tell me more about your Disney experience.
(23:12):
How much are you willing to spend seven to seven
ninety sixty? Begin your message with higher, Hey, eight hundred
three two one thirty six ninety three would you spend
five hundred dollars an hour for a private VIP tour.
Speaker 1 (23:26):
Or would you dine at Victoria and Alberts for at
least three hundred dollars per person? Puck Walm money is
a mystery man just can under stays. Sometimes all it
takes to please hearn is a toch of your hand.
Speaker 2 (23:55):
The town you gotta take k it.
Speaker 3 (23:59):
So even this ninety three point one WPOC, we're talking
about expensive Disney seven to seven nine six two. Begin
(24:21):
your message with higher hay or you can call eight
hundred three two one thirty six ninety three. I was
telling you about a club called thirty three Club, and uh,
it's like an all inclusive, like members only club, and
it's thousands and thousands of dollars a year. It's like
thirty two thousand dollars a year, and then one time
membership fee is fifty thousand dollars just to join. And
(24:44):
somebody texted, my friend's family of four belonged to the
thirty three Club. I must know more, get them to
call me. This is this is big time. Uh that's
really that's really something. Then someone else said, I love
to go to Disney, but I try to do it
as cheap as poss Get a bargain hotel and get
cheap residents only tickets.
Speaker 1 (25:06):
I don't know how you can do that if you
don't know a resident.
Speaker 3 (25:09):
I mean maybe they have a resident, because Florida residents
used to get discounts, but I don't think they do anymore.
One hundred and nineteen dollars for the basic ticket. You're
probably gonna spend most of the time in line, said someone.
Speaker 1 (25:21):
It's true.
Speaker 3 (25:23):
Someone said, I love Disney, but I can't. I can't
afford it anymore. It's too expensive.
Speaker 1 (25:29):
I have to agree. I think we a long time ago.
Speaker 3 (25:33):
We took the kids when they were little, and we
stayed at the sports hotel, which really wasn't that expensive,
and then you get like a meal package, which really
made it like it actually turned out to be about
the cost of a regular vacation. But I don't think
that a lot of the things that we did to
make it more affordable they don't offer anymore. And the
fast passes are really expensive too. So anyway, let me
(25:56):
know what you think.
Speaker 1 (25:57):
Did you Disney this summer? Would you opt out due
to prices? I'd love to hear what you think. Post
belone right now.
Speaker 3 (26:04):
Blake Shelton for me a drink ninety three point one WPOCI.
Speaker 5 (26:14):
Yes, Sir, Army Drake, I'm all.
Speaker 3 (26:17):
In, buddy Army ninety three point one w POC post
belone Blake Shelton, po me a drink. Hey, stick around
because just after seven o'clock your last chance to win
Saturday in the Country tickets with meet and greets for Shaboozie.
Speaker 1 (26:34):
This is a big deal, you guys. And then of
course the concert is a week from tomorrow. That's wild.
I'm so excited.
Speaker 3 (26:43):
So I was just telling you about how much money
you can actually spend a Disney World. You can actually
live five minutes from Disney World on their property for
upwards of I don't know what two million dollars ish
uh and only a thirty thousand dollars hoav every year,
which is wild. But I did look at the houses
(27:04):
and they are really really nice. I mean, of course
they are. So I said, what do you guys doing?
What are you spending money at Disney?
