Thomas Rhett ninety three point one WPOC, Michael Jane Bethany.
We were talking about, you know, the two hundred plus
employees of the Jimmy Kimmel Show, saying that, you know,
if they are let go, they're not going to have
any money saved for an emergency. And we looked it up.
Financial planners Bethany generally advised an emergency fund covering three
(00:26):
to six months of essential living expenses for adults. They
go on to say for retirees, especially single women, a
longer fund eighteen to twenty four months. Okay, how much
do you have saves? So we asked, and boy, we're
getting a lot of texts, aren't we. Yeah. Someone said
I do not have that much. However my son does.
(00:46):
He's married with no kids. Okay, someone said no. Danielle said,
I have a year's worth in my savings. Wow, good job, Danielle.
Somebody said, oh, my internet just went out. I got it. Hey,
Michael James Bethany, this is Kenny the truck driver. I
don't know about anybody else, but I barely have three
weeks worth of savings. I'd say, Kenny, you're just like
(01:08):
a lot of people ninety.
Speaker 2 (01:09):
Three point one WPOC Bethany's brief All the Things you
need to know to get your day started.
Speaker 3 (01:16):
Jimmy mckimmel returned to the airwaves last night to address
his suspension and public response.
Speaker 1 (01:22):
The studio audience gave him.
Speaker 3 (01:23):
A several minutes standing ovation, and then he spoke for
about twenty minutes. I think it was really apologetic in nature,
honestly overall.
Speaker 1 (01:32):
I mean well, I mean he was joking quite a bit.
Speaker 4 (01:36):
I'm not sure who had a weird than forty eight hours,
me or the CEO of Tyland all.
Speaker 1 (01:41):
But you know what, Bethany, I think he was super heartfelt.
And I know some people thought maybe he was acting,
but I felt it.
Speaker 4 (01:48):
But I do want to make something clear because it's
important to me as a human, and that is you
understand that it was never my intention to make light
of the murder of a young man.
Speaker 1 (02:00):
So Jimmy Kimmel last night back on TV.
Speaker 3 (02:03):
Yeah, important historical moment. I feel like Rudy Johnson, the
former Cincinnati Bengals running back, died in an apparent suicide.
He was only forty five.
Speaker 1 (02:13):
Oh.
Speaker 3 (02:14):
David Frye, the Guardian's designated hitter, was taken to the
hospital after being hit in the face with a ninety
nine mile per hour pitch.
Speaker 1 (02:23):
That's horrible and you can see the pitcher just felt.
Oh mirrable. That was that video was is yucky? Is
he doing okay now? Or I mean he was sitting
up when they took him off the field, right, you
know what I mean? So terrible. I think it just
really knocked his socks off. I guess.
Speaker 3 (02:40):

Apple TV Plus has postponed the premiere of Jessica Chastain's
political thriller The Savant, scheduled to debut this Friday. That
the decision follows the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk,
which involves a sniper attack, and the plot of this
show is very similar.
Speaker 1 (03:13):
Yeah, that's not a good idea, so they delayed the release.
Kate Goslin revealed on.
Speaker 3 (03:18):
TikTok that she's actually finally dating again and she's been
in a happy relationship for about fifteen months. She kept
her partner's identity private, but saying he might pop into
the background of her videos, and John divorced in two
thousand and nine.
Speaker 1 (03:32):
Did you ever watch that show?
Speaker 3 (03:33):
No?
Speaker 1 (03:33):
I didn't. Oh, I loved it. I should have. I
guess I don't know if you missed much.
Speaker 3 (03:38):
And lastly, Mayor Brandon Scott, along with the Baltimore City DPW,
urging residents and community associations and volunteer groups to sign
up for the Mayor's Fall clean Up Day of service.
The event is Saturday, October twenty fifth, from eight am
to noon.
Speaker 1 (03:53):
I'm looking at my calendar right now. I think we
should all go out. I think it's a good idea.
It is. I mean, you know, if there's a couple
of day a year we can all get out and
just pick up the trash, that would be a good
thing for our.
Speaker 3 (04:04):
Area and meet our neighbors, yea, take care of each other.
What is that date again, October twenty fifth. It's a
sad Oh.
Speaker 1 (04:10):
You know what I'm doing the Making Strides Against Breast
Cancer Walk, and I'm gonna be tied up with that
for the morning. Maybe on your way. Maybe I can
help afterwards an your way home, pick up a couple yeah,
pieces of trash. No, but I think we all need
to do our parts. I mean I really do. When
I see garbage on the ground, I pick it up.
And if we all just pick up a piece or two.
Speaker 5 (04:32):
Ninety three point one WPOC traffic.
Speaker 3 (04:35):
There's an accident on the thirty two westbound between Laurel
Fort Mead and BW Parkway. Things are stop and go
back to Annapolis Road. We're slow onto ninety five southbound

Forest Drive westbound at Tyler Avenue, and we're slow in
eight ninety five southbound between o'donald Street and the Harbor
Tunnel south ND.
Speaker 1 (04:51):
I just got another really big story to add to
our show this morning, Bethanne, what we're gonna have to
put this in the Music City minute Around six twenty
one of the the biggest country stars is pregnant.

Speaker 5 (05:50):
You gon't know like you own music.
Speaker 8 (05:52):
Row.
Speaker 1 (05:52):
Oh, there's a lot going on. Kelsey Ballerini was seen
at a salon in Nashville, Bethany getting fresh highlights and
a wavy blowout. And apparently the conversation came up about
her breakup, you know, because the hairstylists seemed to talk. Sure,
you know, almost like therapists. You get the best gossip,
(06:13):
I think if you do hair anyway. Chase Stokes was
the guy that she was dating for quite a while.
Well they they left and parted as friends. But they're
not together anymore, and it's official and she's getting a
new dude to celebrate. Yeah, all right, speaking of hotties.
Taylor Swift fans though, are not happy about the Swifties,
(06:35):
I should call them. They're not happy about what's going
on with her and Travis Kelcey. After a recent feud.
You know, he got into a fight with Kansas City
Chiefs head coach Andy Reid. Yep, Travis Kelsey's behavior on
the field, particularly that argument, have left Taylor Swift fans
now shaken and worried. We don't know if Taylor's actually
(06:56):
shaking him worried, but the Swifties are. How do you're
you come down on this? I mean, I think Taylor
can do better, but that's just my personal opinions. Well,
I don't know who this guy is, but reports from
Shutter Scoop indicated that Taylor feels worried and privately shaken
by Travis Kelcey's recent on air on field behavior, despite
(07:20):
the couple announcing their engagement. So, well, you know what
this is a.
Speaker 3 (07:23):
This is a good question for for y'all to weigh
in on seven to seven nine six to begin your
message with high or Hey, if your husband or boyfriend
you know, got fined for his behavior at work?
Speaker 1 (07:35):
Would that? Were you all right? And now the biggest
moment of this Music City minute? Are we ready? Yep?
One of your favorite country stars is pregnant. Luke comes
is well is white?
Speaker 3 (07:53):
Well?
Speaker 1 (07:54):
Isn't that something? Yeah? Nicole and Luke are smiling this morning.
We want to send them our best wishes. Luke Combs
and his wife Nicole expecting their third baby. They definitely
need that new house because you know, they've still been
living in this little rancher, little neighborhood house with two bedrooms.
(08:14):
I know Nicole and Luke had one and the two
boys they've got shared the other. Well, now who knows
what's going to happen. They shared the news with their
boys and everybody is very excited. The announcement was made
with a sonogram, they say, and the family walked away
from the camera, leaving it behind all smiles.
Speaker 5 (08:33):
Ninety three point one WPOC traffic.
Speaker 1 (08:36):
There's an accident on thirty two westbound. It looks like sorry,
that's all right, my internet is being Ah. Look, it's
real time and it's real life and it's technology and
its best.
Speaker 3 (08:48):
Okay, So thirty two westbound between Laurel Fort Mead and
B to B Parkway looks like things are stop and
go back to Annapolis rightway. B to B Parkway stop
on between Arroundomo's Bulvarn and thirty two is slow. We
are slow before the Harbor Tunnel a little bit in
ninety five soop bound between one hundred and Waterloo.
Speaker 1 (09:04):
Hey, and remember if you see a traffic problem, we
always welcome your info textas when you're not driving seven
seven nine six two start with a or high God.
Speaker 2 (09:14):
Dang, y'all, we are just making it pray piles of cash. Hey,
but for real, where are we getting all this money
from y'all?
Speaker 1 (09:23):
Because I don't I ain't seen any of.
Speaker 3 (09:24):
A lot less questions, a lot more given.
Speaker 9 (09:27):
Cool d you know what, but my pay grade, I
don't care.
Speaker 7 (09:30):
Cool.
Speaker 9 (09:31):
Listen starting this Monday on the twenties to win piles
of cash all the info at WPOC dot com.
Speaker 1 (09:38):
This report ninety three point one WPOC. Good morning, Michael,
J and Bethany at six thirty four. We're gonna have
some rain today. I got to deal with that for
a few days. But we'll make it. We will be. Hey.
The really good news is we're getting so I think
we're am I allowed to say we're seems like we're
(09:59):
hot right round.
Speaker 3 (10:00):
I don't. I can't say exactly. Well, we can say
I'm shocked. We haven't had a winner for the.
Speaker 1 (10:06):
High low jackpot. Right around seven ten, we've got a
feeling someone's gonna win some cash. Yeah, so be listening
for that. That'll definitely put a smile in your step today. Yeah,
all right, yeah. Okay, So there's this big story everybody's
been waiting to hear from Bethlene.
Speaker 3 (10:23):
I mean, I mean it's just like a what I
don't know. Here's what I'll tell you the story. You
let me know what you think.
Speaker 1 (10:30):
Okay.
Speaker 3 (10:31):
So my friend and I are out at happy hour
I think it was Friday, Okay. We had Margarita's, a
little Mexican spot, huh, some tacos, and we're chit chatting
and we look over to this table and my girlfriend's like,
oh my god.
Speaker 1 (10:49):
And I'm like what And she's like, that's my boss.
And I was like really, and she's like, that's not
his wife.
Speaker 3 (10:58):
He was at a table at the same time restaurant
with another woman that is not his wife.
Speaker 1 (11:03):
Now, how do you really know that there was something?
You know, we don't know.
Speaker 3 (11:10):
Yeah, they had there was a little tiny bouquet of
flowers on the table, like right, so like it wasn't
like a dozen roses, do you know what I mean?
Speaker 1 (11:20):
It was like a little It wasn't restaurant decre No,
it wasn't a sample of flowers. Maybe she was a
flower salesman. I mean it could that's a stretch, but
that could have been it.
Speaker 3 (11:31):
And they were, you know, d they were laughing, they
were having a great time, and it didn't necessarily seem romantic. Sure,
but it didn't not. They weren't fighting, they weren't.
Speaker 1 (11:44):
I don't know it.
Speaker 3 (11:47):
I sort of was like, this is interesting gossip, but
we probably should mind her own business, you know what
I mean. But my friend is is friends with them
and knows the wife. It's like adds this layer of
like right, so listen, So he didn't say anything to
her to my friend, Oh well, he was trying to
be I don't know, right, right, right, but like you know.
Speaker 1 (12:09):
Well, here's the other thing. You remember that couple on
the kiss cam and they lost everything, They lost their relationships,
they lost their jobs. Well, now People magazine is saying
that those two weren't having an affair, the kiss can couple.
They were smuggling, Yeah they were, but the woman says, yes,
(12:31):
it was wrong to be cuddling and canoodling on whatever
she was doing with her boss. However, she says they
were not having a relationship, maybe not yet. So I
don't know, so is that much like your friend's boss.
And I mean we were like, maybe it's a sister.
(12:51):
So I mean, so in other words, she didn't say
anything to him though, No, okay, and this is just Friday,
so like you know, and she shouldn't say anything to
his wife.
Speaker 3 (13:03):
Right should I mean, I don't know, do you like
we left there, like we need to mind our own business. Yeah,
you know, but like I said, she's friends with the wife,
like they know, they all know.
Speaker 1 (13:16):
It's just I know, but I don't know if you
stick your nose in that, I know, unless I mean,
it's like the wife finds out later that she knew
about it. It's like this weird like, well, if your
friend and the wife are really really tight, I think
she's going to say something. She might not even tell you.
Speaker 3 (13:34):
Maybe she should just be like, oh I saw blah
blah blah blah blah blah.
Speaker 1 (13:40):
That's not how you would do it. Okay, let's spin
it around. Okay. Let's imagine that you are your friend
and you're really tight with this guy's wife. Yeah, and
you see the guy out at dinner with the woman.
You know, looks like it it could be in Bethany
would have walked right over and said hello in the
(14:01):
restaurant and put them on the spot. Yes, and then
like tried to have an introduction. I would have introduced
myself to the woman and be like, how do you
know something? But you weren't in the spot where you
can do that.
Speaker 3 (14:10):
It's not my business, you know, Like it was my
friend's boss, like it was our boss.
Speaker 1 (14:13):
I'd be like, oh my god, what's up? And then
I'd be like, what are you doing here?
Speaker 10 (14:17):
What's going on? Because that's just how I am your
little friend. My friend is very understated and I'm not.
So I was like, you need well, let me ask
you this question really quick.
Speaker 1 (14:29):
If if you were your friend and you were really
tight with his wife and you decided for whatever reason
at the restaurant that you weren't going over there because
it just didn't feel like it was the right thing
to do. At a later point at you know, later
that night or the next day or the next couple
of days, would you have reached out and said, you know,
(14:51):
maybe when you were talking again, the two of you
girls just kind of gathering it up, you might have said, hey,
I don't know how to tell you this. Would you
have done that?
Speaker 3 (15:01):
I don't know, that seems like it's escalating it, you
know what, I mean right, I don't.
Speaker 1 (15:06):
Know, it's icky.
Speaker 3 (15:07):
I like to handle things head on personally, right, But
I again, like that's not everybody's style. All right, Well,
so this is interesting, this text message. Why is everybody
think something's going on? I go out to dinner with
married wimmer all the time, and I'm not having an
affair with any of them.
Speaker 1 (15:22):
Right. See, that's what I'm saying. I think this is there,
could be it could be nothing.
Speaker 3 (15:26):
Maybe it was a business meeting, And that's why I
would probably want to go over and just be like hello,
because then I know everyone knows.
Speaker 1 (15:33):
We all know. Yeah, that could blow up on the
friend if she calls up her friend and says, your
husband was out, and then she's like what why were
there flowers?
Speaker 3 (15:41):
Oh? Someone just texted, see something, say something. All right, well,
we're gonna find out what you think. Seven seven nine
six two. You can text and let us know what.
Speaker 1 (15:51):
You start with hair hot.
Speaker 5 (15:53):
I don't know who broke up, who she's.
Speaker 1 (15:57):
In here, Jason Tequila, don't know how she's moving.
Speaker 2 (16:03):
No, maybe five weeks or five minutes would have king
be two.
Speaker 1 (16:11):
Ninety three point one w POC The kiss cam couple.
They say they weren't having a relationship even though they
were noodling. That'll be in People magazine and much like
that story Bethany and her friend. So, you guys were
out to dinner. We're just we're having a little happy hour.
Speaker 3 (16:27):
Yeah, And at the two like down on the other
side of the bar table a couple of tables over.
My friend who I was with, her boss was there
with a woman that wasn't his way, and it was.
Speaker 1 (16:39):
Clearly like they they were at the table together. They
hadn't just bumped into each other. No, no, they hadn't
just seen it.
Speaker 3 (16:44):
Yeah, we didn't see who walked in first. What the
We didn't see how they You don't know why. There
were flowers on the table, a little tiny bouquet of flowers.
So it wasn't like a I love you Mary, But
were the flowers in front of him? Were they in
front of her? Placement is important?
Speaker 1 (16:59):
I guess us.
Speaker 3 (17:00):
They were just kind of like it was like a bar,
like a high topic. It's kind of like, well, maybe
she brought him. I mean, well, it could have been,
like I said, I could have been a sister, It
could have been I don't know.
Speaker 1 (17:10):
Yeah, you don't even know if it's a sister, right,
we don't know, or a cousin or I mean, I
guess it could have been another business. It could have
been anybody. But who do you bring? And the other
thing that the other part of this is and was
it Let me ask you this question. Was it a
bar or restaurant type place that would be frequented by
the people in his social circle. Yeah. It didn't seem
(17:33):
like he was trying to hide anything, right, that's my point. Yes,
because if you were going to try to.
Speaker 3 (17:36):
Go someplace we've all been there before where you don't
want to be spotted, you're going to be like on
the other side of town. I would think, yeah, in
the dark. I mean, I don't know.
Speaker 1 (17:46):
These texts are hysterics.
Speaker 3 (17:47):
Hysterical should have texted the wife to come out for
happy hours.
Speaker 1 (17:51):
That's good, Hi, Bethany.
Speaker 3 (17:53):
I've always been told pictures are worth a thousand words.
Speaker 1 (17:56):
Yeah, we didn't even think of that. I live in
a social environment.
Speaker 3 (18:00):
Your friend needs to talk to her boss about the
incredibly large race she's.
Speaker 1 (18:03):
About to get. That's john.
Speaker 3 (18:07):
Someone said, why didn't you just ask her boss casually?
She could just say, hey, Friday, we saw you at
the restaurant. That's probably a good idea. That's a coy
way to it's always a good idea. Communication solves so
many issues.
Speaker 1 (18:21):
Right, because then you would have just found, you know,
found out what was going on.
Speaker 3 (18:24):
Someone said you got to spill the tea. How would
feel if it was your man? I I would want
to know. Faith said, good morning. I just want to
tell you guys to have a good day. Oh Faith, Faith,
thank you. And then Diesel said, check out the sunrise.
It's beautiful. All right, I'm gonna go out and check
out the man.
Speaker 1 (18:41):
Y'all are texting and covering everything. They're busy today. So
I say, I'm thinking if I'm the guy, thinking, if
I'm the girl, maybe the girl who was at the
table with the boss doesn't want everything. See I don't
think either party would have been in public if they're
really was they were really hiding? Yeah, yeah, I bet
(19:03):
it was nothing. We're gonna call the boss up next.
Speaker 4 (19:05):
I'm just.
Speaker 7 (19:08):
At the room that.
Speaker 5 (19:09):
You're traveling along.
Speaker 1 (19:10):
There's one day here, even the next day going. Sometimes
you've been sometimes you.
Speaker 5 (19:14):
Say, sometimes you turn your back to the wind. There's
a whirl outside. Every dog in the door.
Speaker 1 (19:25):
Ninety three point one w POC Michael J. Bethany, I'm
so excited about the uh the high Low jackpot. This
morning right around seven ten. We have a lot of
people who are trying to win it, and Uh, I
just had this feeling deep in the pit of my stomach.

Speaker 1 (20:11):
Where are you? I know he must be. He says,
it's going to beautiful. I'm looking forward to it. Uh. David.
Speaker 3 (20:17):
The woman who was high school crush was Davy Jones
the other day and I picked on her for, you know,
being a little old.
Speaker 7 (20:24):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (20:25):
She said, Hey, it's Davy Jones here.
Speaker 3 (20:27):
Okay, she said, go over and say hi and see
what's up to the boss. We were just talking about
how my friend and I were out having a happy
hour and we saw her boss with a woman that
isn't his wife. And someone said, hopefully your boss isn't listening.
Speaker 5 (20:44):
No, I hope he is.
Speaker 1 (20:45):
How you doing this morning? Who are you out with?
What's going on? Good morning, sir?
Speaker 5 (20:50):
Ninety three point one w POC traffic.
Speaker 1 (20:53):
Nothing like having all your business on the radio. Well,
I said to.
Speaker 3 (20:56):
Her when it was happening, I said, oh, you know
this is going on the radio. She was like, I know,

To get your day started well.
Speaker 1 (22:10):
So Jimmy Kimmel back on the air last night.
Speaker 3 (22:14):
In most places, I think he said about eighty percent
of the country.
Speaker 1 (22:19):
I don't know. It was very apologetic, more so than
I anticipated. You want to hear a little bit.
Speaker 4 (22:24):
Yeah, But I do want to make something clear because
it's important to me as a human, and that is
you understand that it was never my intention to make light.
Speaker 1 (22:32):
Of the murder of a young man. I don't I
don't think there's anything funny about it.
Speaker 4 (22:42):
I posted a message on Instagram and the daves killed,
sending love to his family and asking for compassion, and
I meant it.
Speaker 1 (22:48):
I still do.
Speaker 4 (22:50):
Nor was it my intention to blame any specific group
for the actions of what it was obviously a deeply
disturbed individual that was really the opposite of the I
was trying to make but I understand that to some
that felt either ill timed or unclear, or maybe both.
And for those who think I did point a finger,
I get.
Speaker 1 (23:09):
Why you're upset.

I didn't see even where it hit him. Until they

I don't know how he was gonna see it coming.

And she said I was going to say six eighty seven?
Speaker 1 (31:32):
Oh oh, oh my god. I want to say you

and after twenty years making you hang, she figured you

I hope you guys enjoy six hundred and eighty seven bucks.

Speaker 5 (32:22):
Here Michael Jay's music City minute in sixty seconds. You

Speaker 1 (32:28):
You heard here on ninety three point one WPOC several
days ago about the tragic plane crash taking the life
of country songwriter Brett James, his daughter and wife all
three lost in a small engine plane crash. And it's
been really difficult, Bethany for a lot of country stars
(32:49):
because he wrote so many hits. I know Kenny Chesney,
I don't know if you saw his post on Instagram.
I want to play a little bit of one of
the songs that Brett James helped Kenny write. Came one
of his big songs out last night. He also wrote
a reality you save Me when the Sun Goes down,
(33:11):
knowing you keg in the closet. I mean he's He's
written songs for everyone from from Dirk's Bentley to just
everyone in Nashial Tim McGraw there with.
Speaker 9 (33:21):
Girls from Margentina and I Kinsman Alabama and Hannah More
mixed together and Helen and.
Speaker 1 (33:31):
Bud So, Kenny says it's just a giant hole for
him to deal with. He says, I haven't wanted to
post because I didn't want to believe it. This is
Kenny Chesney's words. Brett and I shared a unique bond,
a brotherhood, a kinship. We wrote all these songs. In fact,
(33:54):
we wrote Reality and Out last night on the same
afternoon sitting by his in the Virgin Islands, two days
after Christmas. Kenny Chesney continued, He said, we had a
lot of authentic life fun writing songs together over the years,
and I'm sure going to miss it. It's hard to
process is creative soul being gone, this kind of loss.
(34:16):
I feel as if part of my creative soul went
with him. It'll be a void in my life and
creativity forever. I've never known writing songs or being on
the road without him. So I mean I really I
felt Kenny's loss YEA through his words, Yeah, I really did.
It's very very sad. Brett James just in his fifties,
(34:39):
just a young guy and just such a talented man.
So a huge loss for country music. A couple of
babies being discussed in Nashville News today, So just real
quick congratulations to Scotty McCreary and his wife Gabby or
Gabby I'm not sure I've heard it pronounce both ways.
I think he calls her Gabby anyway. They welcome their
(35:01):
second son into the world. Avery was the first one,
and now Bo Barry is baby number two and the
other big news. Sticking with country baby news, today, baby
number three on the way for Luke Combs and his
wife Nicole. The couple announced on social media, captioning it
third times a charm.
Speaker 5 (35:22):
Ninety three point one WPOC traffic.
Speaker 3 (35:26):
All right, so the worst spot's out there right now
b tow B Parkway southbound between one hundred and one
ninety eight ninety seven southbound between exits seven and exit five.
An accident there moved to the shoulder before both tunnels
are sitting for about fifteen minutes, and on the outer
loop between ninety five and Providence Road.
Speaker 5 (35:44):
God, dang, y'all, we are just making it praise.
Speaker 2 (35:48):
Piles of cash, hey, but for real, where are we
getting all this money from y'all?
Speaker 1 (35:53):

a lot more given.

Michael J and Bethany Bethany and Michael J. It's interchangeable
and that's the way the world should be, right Bethany, Yeah.
Speaker 3 (36:37):
Only eight percent of CEOs at the top SMP five
hundred companies are women.
Speaker 1 (36:44):
Now, when you say eight percent, is that an increase
from where it's been recently or has it been at
eight percent for a long time? I think it's you
know what I mean, like has not gotten any better?
You don't think it's more women are getting on the board.
Speaker 3 (36:58):
It used to be zero eight percents. I guess better
than zero. But you know, women are not in charge
and thus women are paying a price for it. Right.
So there's one female CEO who is putting out nine
things that she does as a boss that would quote
(37:19):
send men into a coma.
Speaker 1 (37:21):
Is it important to reveal what kind of business she's
the CEO of because some of these things may or
may not work in all industries. Is there any of that?
Speaker 14 (37:32):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (37:32):
They seem pretty interchangeable to me, okay, because I haven't
seen the whole list yet. But yeah, she runs a
company called her First one hundred K, which is a
financial company to help other women become financially independent.
Speaker 1 (37:47):
So what I'm saying is because I have a feeling
some of this is going to be about working from
home versus working in an office. Is the type of
business that allows that, is what I'm saying. You know
what I mean. Like, if you're making cars, right and
you're working on a line Detroit, it's hard to do
that from home. You know what I mean? Right, So
it depends on the business. But yeah, so now we
know that.
Speaker 3 (38:07):
Okay, So here are the nine things that she does
as a boss that she thinks would send men into
a coma. Let me know what you think about these
seven seven ninety six two begin your message with higher
hate or call us eight hundred and three two one
thirty six ninety three.
Speaker 1 (38:18):
Now, when you say it might go into a coma,
is I mean I'm just gonna be out. I'm gonna
be You're gonna.
Speaker 3 (38:22):
Knock me out? Well hopefully, all right. She gives her
employees a paid week off quarterly paid week off. Uh
huh quarterly, So well that's not a bad thing. That's
four weeks a year of vacation. Yeah, right, nothing wrong
with that. She lets her employees bring their children to meetings.
Speaker 1 (38:45):
Uh, how do you feel about that?
Speaker 13 (38:47):
I like it.
Speaker 1 (38:49):
I mean I see both sides. If you're the because
I've had obviously little kids and they demand a lot
of attention, and you know, I understand allowing that if
if you're in a situation where you don't have childcare.
But that's hard both for the other people that work
in the business as it is for the parent who's
bringing their child in. Don't you think as you're trying
(39:09):
to figure out what you're doing at work and you're
trying to listen, and then you've got Yeah, I mean,
women are really good at multitasking. But are you saying
in the meeting, like in the meeting or they like
in the meeting like they're out in a childcare area?
See there's that too, right? Unclear? Okay.
Speaker 3 (39:26):
She allows employees to work from anywhere. You can come
into the office and work. You can work from school, pickup,
you can work in Europe if you want to, as
long as you get your job done.
Speaker 1 (39:37):
I mean that makes sense to me. It's just you know,
I like it if you get the job done. What's
the difference? Who cares? Right?
Speaker 3 (39:44):
She offers paid menstrual leave, Okay, so that would be
in addition to the four weeks a year. Well, what's
interesting is she also gets gives unlimited PTO.
Speaker 1 (39:54):
Okay, I don't understand that part.
Speaker 3 (39:56):
A lot of companies do that now, eight percent of
employers in the US do it. See, Americans don't take
all their vacation anyway, so giving unlimited PTO like is
basically like a nothing thing.
Speaker 1 (40:11):
Yeah, I don't understand not taking your vacation. I don't
get that because it's that that.
Speaker 3 (40:16):
I mean.
Speaker 1 (40:16):
Don't you think you kind of need your vacation? Yeah?
Oh yeah, I'll be taking our vacation, right.
Speaker 3 (40:22):
I mean, so I think I almost feel like her
saying I'm giving you unlimited PTO, I'm giving you a
paid week off every quarter, and I'm giving you paid
mens truly, like it all basically is the same.
Speaker 1 (40:31):
It sounds like she really is concerned about the mental
health of her employees, and I.
Speaker 3 (40:36):
Think that's interesting and I think that is telling. She
gives employees money for contributing to their four oh one case.
Speaker 1 (40:44):
Okay, well she's doing a match, right, that makes sense.
Speaker 3 (40:48):
She has an all female team, okay, and they all
support each other.
Speaker 1 (40:54):
She sounds like she's going to do really well. I
mean like she should be successful if she doesn't go broke,
giving everybody everything they need, and she lets.
Speaker 3 (41:01):
Employees take time off during the workday if they have
to go to the doctor, right, they have to run
an errand or whatever. I mean, I think if you
do these things, you're going to have a lot more
loyal employees.
Speaker 1 (41:11):
I don't think I'm in a coma right now, though,
I think I'm okay, you think you're all right? Yes,
I mean, look, the bottom line is if you don't
treat your employees well, somebody else will treat them well,
and you'll lose your employees. And if you lose your
that's the most important talent at the at the company.
I mean, if that's you's bringing the you know, bringing
(41:33):
the milk and money in. Yeah. Yeah, happy people do
happy work. Exactly. So what do you think about all that? Three?
You can text right now seven seven nine six two,
or you can call eight hundred and three two one
thirty six ninety three Bethany. You're down with all those,
right of course? Yeah, more female bosses, let's go, all right.
(41:55):
Tim McGraw's got a female boss. Did you know that
he'd be shaved his head? And you said he did
it for faith? Faith said she likes it. I bet
she does. I bet you. Tim continues to be baldy.
Speaker 5 (42:12):
Call you, Doll, all right, call Doll.
Speaker 1 (42:21):
Tell Michael to stop interrupting you and let you tell
your story. I never mean to interrupt you. I want
you to know that. First off, I just I get
questions that pop my head and I always want to ask.
But I'm certainly listening to everything you're saying. No I am,
I'm I. That's my biggest focus. It really is.
Speaker 3 (42:41):
And remember when it was my birthday and I told
you three times that day it was my birthday, and
you didn't hear me any of those times there was
for you to say, I always listened.
Speaker 1 (42:50):
Okay, Well, I'm trying. I'm trying my best. Is there's
a lot going on in here, and I'm looking at
a lot of things at once, but defensive Bethany, Yeah,
I want you to know that you have complete rain
go you go for it now, I'm serious.
Speaker 3 (43:07):
We're just talking about a female CEO who put out
her like I guess manifesto and said that most men
just wouldn't be able to handle it. So I read
off what they are and several people are like, bet
that he is she hiring? That's funny?
Speaker 1 (43:23):
Who is she wears this job? How do I get hired?
Speaker 9 (43:25):
Where is she?
Speaker 1 (43:26):
The way's the company is called her First one hundred K.
Speaker 3 (43:30):
I follow her on Instagram actually, and she's does a
lot of like help for women to become financially independent.
So if you want to follow her, you get even
if you can't work for her, she gives you a
lot of tips on how to create your own, you know,
wealth as a woman, which I like. So a lot
of people were weighing in that, like, oh, somebody said,
(43:50):
we have a male CEO and he's instituted a lot
of the same things.
Speaker 1 (43:55):
Well that's that's great. Yeah, that's wonderful.
Speaker 7 (43:58):
I do.
Speaker 1 (43:58):
I do think.
Speaker 3 (44:01):
Diversity in running things is probably good for everybody. So like,
you know how I said that only eight percent of
the CEOs of the top five hundred companies are women, right, Like, yeah,
I'm glad that men are doing this, but we also
need to see the faces to be like they need
to be in charge, you know, eventually. So if you're
(44:23):
a mail and you're in charge of hiring, like, you know,
make sure that you're thinking about that.
Speaker 1 (44:28):
I guess Chris is on the telephone line. Chris, you
what you wanted to say.
Speaker 8 (44:32):
So coming from the corporate world for fifteen years, the
reason companies do unlimited PTO, it's kind of like a
trick they do. You still have to get it approved
in order to take time off, but when employees leave,
they don't have to pay out that PTO. So if
you have like four weeks a year and you only
take one week, if the employee leaves, the company still
(44:54):
has to pay.
Speaker 1 (44:54):
You three weeks vacation.
Speaker 8 (44:55):
But when you have unlimited PTO, they don't owe you
anything when you leave the compan But it's almost like
a little trick. That's why they do it.
Speaker 1 (45:04):
So, but here's what I don't get. If you have
unlimited PTO, that means you can take off whenever you
want and you're paid, but these st have to get
it improved.
Speaker 8 (45:12):
Right, You still have to get it approved, so they
make it appear that way, but you still have to
get it approved by management. So you don't technically get
like three months off a year. You still probably get
three or four weeks you write it approved, but it's
their way of not paying it out when you leave
the company.
Speaker 1 (45:28):
Oh, I got you, I gotcha. Yeah. Yeah, it sounds
like it sounds like they're just playing games at that point.
That just yeah, that's and.
Speaker 8 (45:36):
That's that's the corporate world. They are constantly playing games.
Speaker 1 (45:39):
All right, buddy, thanks for explaining that. I appreciate you.
Speaker 8 (45:42):
Well, what do you do for a living, Plundy guys,
where do you work?
Speaker 3 (45:46):
Well?
Speaker 8 (45:46):
I bought a body shop last year. I left the
corporate world and now I own and operate a body
shop and know Chris Maryland.
Speaker 1 (45:55):
So now it's interesting because now the tables are turned
and you run that. So, uh, how do you look
at all this when you're trying to hire and do
you offer all these benefits or is it too expensive?
Speaker 8 (46:06):
Well, it is very expensive, but I do offer a
lot of benefits because like you guys said, employees are
the one that really run the company, and without them
you really have nothing. So I take care of them
the best I can with benefits, and I give them
time off when they need it and especially around the holidays.
So it's been doing great.
Speaker 1 (46:26):
Well, congratulations, Let's give you a shout out. What is
the name of your body shop and where you located?
Speaker 8 (46:31):
Miles Body Shop in Elkridge, Maryland.
Speaker 1 (46:33):
There you go, shout out to Miles and Elkridge. Getting
a lot of texts while he was speaking Bethany, Yeah,
somebody said, what is her Instagram page? Again?
Speaker 3 (46:44):
Her first one hundred k is her Instagram handle, so
you can follow her. A lot of people were wondering
if she has an all female team, doesn't that make
it discrimination. I mean, I don't know the law, but
