Speaker 1 (00:00):
To me, and I thought about it, you know, twenty
four hours, forty eight hours, seventy two hours, and now
you know, here we are, what ninety six hours later?
It's like washing watching the entire show for you know,
six to eight to ten years of a decade Breaking
Bad or The Sopranos or Madmen or The Wire, and
(00:25):
then you get to the series finale and after an
entire kind of like Game of Thrones, you get to
the series. Well, the Game of Thrones the last couple
seasons sucks, so that's actually not a good example. But
you get to the final episode, Matt, and the final
episode sucks, and it leaves a bad taste.
Speaker 2 (00:43):
In your mouth.
Speaker 1 (00:45):
That is the twenty twenty five Seattle Mariners in a nutshell.
Speaker 2 (00:50):
Would you agree or disagree? Why or why not?
Speaker 3 (00:54):
I agree one hundred percent? Full disclosure. I am a
New York Mets fan, so I I certainly know how
difficult it is, and you know, all these embarrassing losses
and these epic late season collapses. This was just absolutely inexcusable.
Wilson's made some terrible, boneheaded decisions. This was completely preventable. Listen,
(01:18):
He's not a bad guy. He's a great guy. He
was a great manager in the regular season, but in
the postseason his inexperience showed. The Mariners made it this
far in spite of Dan Wilson, not because of him.
His decisions were simply a masterclass in how not to
manage October baseball. It was a rookie manager making rookie mistakes.
Speaker 1 (01:40):
Yeah, and I'll even say one thing. I agree with
everything you said, But I don't think he was a
great manager in the regular season because I can point
to times. The series in July Yankee Stadium, after the
rain delay, he leaves Logan Gilbert in there too long.
Two days later, he leaves Logan Evans in there too long.
In the Tampa Bay Series when they got swept against
the rain in Tampa, Logan gill assume. George Kirby comes out,
(02:03):
he gets shelled, brings him out for another couple innings
to give up more runs, and Junior cam and Arrow
took him deep.
Speaker 2 (02:09):
I mean, he's done this.
Speaker 1 (02:09):
This is what you And then when he should leave
a guy in who's actually pitching great, let's go to
Game seven on Monday night. George Kirby had one of
his best postseason outings. Why pull him after four and
not leave him in there longer?
Speaker 3 (02:27):
I cannot give you a good answer for that. The
overall pattern of short leashes for starters and reliance on
matchups rather than letting these starters go deeper was visible,
and analysts have flagged the m's rotation. Averaging fewer than
five run innings per start in this series like that
(02:47):
is just not normal. He shouldn't have pulled Kirby. I
understand this concern of facing hitters too many times. Obviously
the era and the whip goes up the third time
through the order. But this guy was cruising. I mean,
if you flip it out and around, okay, maybe he
he starts off strong and then he lets upper run.
Maybe maybe you make the case to pull him. But
(03:10):
that's simply not what happened. He lets up her run
and then he settles down. He's dominating. I was listening
to Mark de Rosa and he was saying something bowling balls.
I mean, you're up three to one. You got a
pitcher that's throwing what sixty something pitches? So MJ, that's
a question for Dan. I do not know why he
pulled Kirby. I have to assume the plan going into
(03:34):
this was Kirby five innings, WU two innings, and then
you knows, two innings, but you know that's not what happened.
They pull him after four. And then if your plan
is to have Wu go three innings, what's your backup plan?
Was it always Bizardo? Because if it is, I just
simply can't understand that.
Speaker 1 (03:52):
Oh and here's the thing, and a lot of people,
and justifiably so, Matt Brain and Sports illustrat joining us
are not blaming.
Speaker 2 (03:58):
I'm not blaming Bizardo.
Speaker 1 (04:00):
Shouldn't have been in the game in regardless. Okay, so
you put him in that situation because he's been that
bridge to get you to Munnos. But why are you
pitching to Springer? Why not load the bases? Who's up next?
Nathan Lucas. I'll take my chances with Nathan Lucas, and
then I know there's only one out, so we know
(04:21):
who's coming up after that, vladgir But like, at least
at that point, all right, say Nathan Lucas gets a
base hit or walks in, and you know one runs,
it's three to two, not four to three, Toronto, It's
still three to two. Seattle. So why would you not
Why would you not intentionally walk Springer?
Speaker 2 (04:41):
There? I don't get that.
Speaker 3 (04:44):
So this one's a little difficult. I really don't blame
him for not walking Springer because, like you said, we
know who's coming up unless you force a double play
in that situation. If you do walk Springer, probably bring
in Gabe Spires to face Lucas. You want that lefty
(05:04):
on lefty. But I don't really love that situation. I'd
much rather pitch the Springer. Yes, I know he's a
postseason that he's one of the greatest hitters in the league,
but that's why you have your closer. That's why you
bring him in. The guy only pitched two innings the
entire series. So what are you gonna do? Why do
(05:24):
you want to leave the ball in Bizardo's hands in
that in a high stress situation like that, I completely
agree with you. I do not blame Bizardo one iota.
Like this is not on him. Yes, that pitch was
far too over the middle, but you know Wilson should
have relied on his better arms and simply put In
the playoffs, you want your best arms to win you
(05:48):
your ball games. I mean We've seen Randy Johnson come
in in the ninth inning, We've seen Meds and bum Garner.
Postseason baseball is so much.
Speaker 1 (05:55):
Do I remember the Dodgers in one of their runs?
Speaker 2 (06:00):
Yeah? You just here's another thing too.
Speaker 1 (06:03):
I got to ask you, speaking of Matt Brahams, some
sports illustrated why bringing WU instead of a well rested
Bryce Miller or Luis Castillo, who is obviously a guy
that is throwing hard stuff. Pull he got again pulled
too early in his recent start, But why not bring
in Miller Castillo after pulling Kirby too early in the
(06:23):
after the fourth inning.
Speaker 3 (06:26):
I think they could have brought in Louis Castillo, especially
because he only pitched forty eight pitches in Game four
and two and a third innings. Uh So, I honestly
think that would have been a decent option.
Speaker 1 (06:38):
But I don't.
Speaker 3 (06:39):
I don't have a problem with WU in that scenario.
You know, he he had pitched two innings what two
days prior to that let up one run. He was
pitching pretty well in Game seven, and in that situation,
he couldn't make it the three innings. You know, I
really do believe that the pre game script was Kirby five,
Wu too, uns too. That's a winning formula. And once
(07:01):
you have that lead, yes you have runners on second
and third, But this ultimately comes down to the Bizardo call.
So you can make all these what ifs and play
arm armchair quarterback, but honestly, that one decision. It's not
like people are saying after the fact, oh, he shouldn't
have done that. People were shocked before he let up
(07:21):
the home run. So this is something that all analysts
across the league were just stunned that they brought in
Bizardo in that situation. So, yes, you can make the
argument that they maybe should have brought in Castillo instead
of Wu, but that's not what lost in the ballgame.
What lost in the ballgame was going to Bizardo in
a high stress situation. And yes, he had been successful
(07:42):
in the regular season, but just because you're successful on
June twentieth or September twentieth, that's not gonna win you
a baseball game on October twentieth. We all know that
postseason baseball is very, very different than regular season baseball.
You got to take it one out at a time,
and in this situation, the Mariners were burned, and honestly,
I feel terrible for the Mariner fan base. Like I said,
(08:03):
I'm a Mets fan, so I can commiserate with all
of you. Oh I know, but uh, you know, Wilson,
he he won manager of the Year, which is crazy
on the cusp of this. But it's just a terrible situation.
And you're absolutely right. This might be worse than the
final couple of seasons a Game of Thrones, which is
saying a lot.
Speaker 1 (08:23):
Yeah, no, I know, yeah, that's uh, that to me
is just yeah, that's right. Uh, that just uh okay,
yeah that happened. He he won Manager of the Year,
which is to me unbelievable because I I look at
him and in the moves that he made, you can
just see him.
Speaker 2 (08:42):
He looks disheveled. He looks confused.
Speaker 1 (08:45):
He's not someone to me when they show him on
TV during a high pressure stress situation, Matt is someone
who engenders confidence. If I was in that clubhouse, he
just like he's pacing. He's you know, he was named
we always named Sporting News manager of the Year, so
for whatever I mean, it hasn't been the you know,
(09:05):
you know, American League manager of the year. Fine, from
Sporting News. He was named that this morning, but I
can tell you right now there's no way he was
named manager of the year for what he did in
the postseason because if they if they included the postseason,
he would have been at the bottom. And here goes
into the point where he was an interim manager over
a year ago. He came in finished above five hundred
(09:27):
in replacing Scott's service. Nobody and they just said, okay,
you're the manager. Did they did they interview anybody else?
Speaker 2 (09:35):
Did they?
Speaker 1 (09:35):
Did they interview you know, I don't know, like Tory Leavelo.
I mean, how about right, you know, like there's so
many guys who are out there that could be really
great managers, and he just got it.
Speaker 2 (09:47):
I felt like it was a pr move.
Speaker 1 (09:49):
And I'm gonna tell you if this team does not
make it back to the postseason next year, Matt, I'm
gonna tell you right now, it's not gonna happen with
Dan Wilson next year is everything because because we know
both Naylor and Suarez won't both be back here, and
by the way, we're just hoping Naylor comes back. Neither
(10:10):
one of them might be back here next year, and
If that's the case, it's gonna be a completely different
team who pits up the production from Josh Naylor. What
about Jorge Polanco. He's a free agent and look at
the year he had and look what he did in
the postseason. Let me go back to another thing that
Dan Wilson didn't do. Game five elimination game against Detroit Scooble.
(10:33):
He had runners on second base, a runner on second
base multiple time with no outs. He didn't bunt the
runner over. Even Aj Perzinski on the broadcast said, what
are you doing?
Speaker 2 (10:45):
Why are you not bunking over?
Speaker 1 (10:47):
Just like I've said and you said at the beginning,
they won that game in spite of Dan Wilson, not
because of him. And I just look at him right now,
and I can tell you right now, in terms of
confidence level from what I've gleaned from to talk into
the Seattle fan base this week, especially after Monday night's
Game seven, matt their confidence level for Dan Wilson on
(11:07):
a scale of one to one hundred, with one hundred
being the most is probably less than a six right now.
Speaker 3 (11:15):
I would have it even lower than that, especially if
you're if you're not able to retain those guys Nailer
and Swarez. Utly, a lot of the things didn't make sense.
He kind of flipped his whole philosophy upside down in
the playoffs. I mean, this was a team that, Okay,
so in Game seven they promote JP Crawford from the
(11:37):
ninth spot to the seventh spot. This is a team
that just never seems to bunt. I think they ranked
dead last and productive outs, even though actually, if you
look back at the stets, Dan Wilson actually had the
most sacrificed bund in Mariners history according to Alex Rodriguez.
But in Game seven, it's the second inning, it's one
to one, you got Crawford up, who you just promoted,
(11:59):
because he's hitting the ball. Well, he's his patient at
the plate and he bunts, But you bunt to get
your eight and nine hitters up, Revas and Roguls. I mean,
you have an opportunity to blow the game open in
that situation and get some real momentum, maybe take a
three to four to one lead. And what happens that
they don't score a run. So you know there's a
(12:21):
lot also going back to his whole philosophy of not
having a pitcher go three times through the order. Guess
how many times Bizardo saw George Springer. That was his
third time. You know, when he brought him in eight
to two ball game, it's a meaningless point of the game.
He brings him in, Springer gets a second opportunity at Bizardo,
(12:43):
then in game seven gets a third opportunity. And when
you bring in a reliever since twenty nineteen in the
postseason for the third time, the hitter stats essentially become
a Manny Machado archetype. Do you have George Springer up,
but you got a Manado guy up as well, So
I mean everything points to just a terrible, terrible decision
(13:06):
on Wilson's You know, you're right. He does often look
dazed and confused, and I think, you know, his inexperience
just really really showed in this postseason, but particularly in
Game seven.
Speaker 1 (13:17):
And I'll just throw this out there and I'll say it.
The guy the San Francisco Giants just hired, even though
he has no previous MLB experience, Tony Vottello, who one
national title at Tennessee. I tell you right now that guy,
automatically day one, is a ten times better manager than
(13:38):
Dan Wilson in his wildest, wettest dreams ever could be
ever ever this guy.
Speaker 2 (13:46):
I would I would trade.
Speaker 1 (13:47):
I trade Dan Wilson to the San Francisco Giants for
Tony Vottello, and I throw in Rik Woolan. They can
have Rik Woolen and put him on the forty nine
ers as well.
Speaker 2 (13:59):
I would take Tony vintel up here in a harpet.
Speaker 1 (14:02):
You put one thing in your article, and this definitely
bears mentioning. The Mariners ranked thirtieth in MLBING productive outs
dead last. You put those kind of outs that move
runners score from third and win postseason games. They are
not analytics or modern strategy. They're baseball's backbone. Thirtieth in
(14:24):
productive outs. I mean, Matt, if that is not the
biggest indictment of Dan Wilson, I don't know it is.
Speaker 3 (14:32):
It's a big problem. Now. I will say this team
was obviously built to be a home run hitting team.
I mean, look at the acquisitions they made at the deadline.
But even so, to be a postseason team that's not
doing the little things, that's not advancing the runners, that's
not hitting sacrifice flies, I mean, you gotta give some
credit to the Blue Jays, they put the ball in play,
(14:54):
they did advance runners. The Mariners just simply didn't do that.
And you know, you have to put some fault on
the manager. So you know, Wilson, he's gonna have a
lot of thinking. This is gonna be a long offseason
for him. I mean that it's not just one decision.
That one decision is what changed the trajectory of Game seven,
(15:15):
but there are a lot of little things that happened
throughout the playoffs that certainly played a pivotal role in
the Mariners just simply not being able to get enough
offense and not get enough runs across the plate.
Speaker 1 (15:27):
Matt Brannon check out his article and he did a
great job writing for Sports Illustrated covering the Mariners, and
it's basically entitled, well, I think whatevery Seattle Mariners fan
thinks Seattle Mariners collapse in ALCS. Dan Wilson's inexperience cost
a World Series run. Matt, great having you on. Love
(15:47):
the perspective, and we'll see what happens. But on the
day that Dan Wilson wins the Sporting News Manager of
the Year, let me tell you something right now, people
in Seattle are like throwing up in scoffing and laughing
on the day he wins the Sporting News Manager of
the Year. That's a joke, but we appreciate the time.
Great job out of you, Matt, will look forward to
(16:09):
doing it again.
Speaker 3 (16:11):
Thanks so much for having me on.
Speaker 2 (16:12):
You got it, Matt Brandon Sports Illustrated Manager of the Year. Oive,
oh boy, oh this is oh yeah.
Speaker 1 (16:27):
He looked like a real manager of the year in
this postseason, didn't he.
Speaker 2 (16:31):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, you could take that manager of the year.
That and about eighty five.
Speaker 1 (16:39):
Let me say you that in twenty cents won't buy
you a packet of ketchup at Dix because.
Speaker 2 (16:47):
They charged twenty two cents for ketchup.
Speaker 1 (16:50):
Oh my god, I kill myself that in twenty one
sense won't buy you a.
Speaker 2 (16:55):
Packet of ketchup at Dix.
Speaker 1 (16:58):
Literally, that's how much I view Dan Wilson as the
manager of the year I viewed Dan. I think Mike
McDaniel for the Dolphins is the NFL Coach of the
Year before Dan Wilson ever winning manager.
Speaker 2 (17:12):
Of the Year.
Speaker 1 (17:14):
That's a joke. That's an absolute joke. Who's the postseason
manager of the Year. It ain't him. I gonna tell
you that much. All right, what do you say? Text
of the Day, brought to you by Boors said, coming
up next Manager of the Year, my ass. I gotta
check out this FBI press conference, Purple She and our
bosses a kid are saying it's unbelievable, like the details
(17:36):
they have and I didn't even They're saying that they're
really going after the mob. And apparently Chauncey Billups has
been tied to the mob.
Speaker 2 (17:44):
And you know what's even crazier.
Speaker 4 (17:45):
Rich was like, yeah, man, I just got a coaches
show going down there, And I said, well, that's perfect timing, Richie,
You're doing your part, and now this happens. So he's
just like yeah, He's like, what else can I do?
Speaker 2 (17:57):
Coaches show from whatever prison in Oregon? Man, Yeah, wow, wow,
this is un imagine MJ.
Speaker 4 (18:06):
The mafia comes to you, Oh no, and you and
you and they say, hey, we're offering this, and you
take it. You have to realize you're in for a life.
There is no getting out.
Speaker 2 (18:16):
That's right, that's right. It's like you're right.
Speaker 4 (18:19):
You think, like maybe I shouldn't just just in.
Speaker 2 (18:22):
Case, because here's the thing that gets me too.
Speaker 1 (18:27):
About Chauncey Billups like the guy, he just gotta He
signed a multi year extension.
Speaker 2 (18:33):
He was gonna be good through the twenty twenty seven times.
M it's not about what we're thinking. It's deeper.
Speaker 4 (18:39):
Maybe he got in and he was like, well, I
can't get out now, so I guess I gotta keep going.
I'm not sure all the specifics, but when when the
mafia comes to you about anything, Yeah, he's swimming with
the fishes.
Speaker 1 (18:51):
Well, and that's Dana White found that out in South
Boston with.
Speaker 2 (18:54):
Whitey Bulger on a flight.
Speaker 5 (18:56):
Yeah, he got it so like he laughed, he moved here.
I'm living for pastors. Oh UFC, sign it up, let's
do it.
Speaker 2 (19:07):
I'm good. Oh man, all right?
Speaker 1 (19:10):
Hey uh from the guy, Dan Olympia, Hey, that's so
nice of you to reply and thank you. My dad
was a legend in this area as a swim coach
and teacher, so inspirational as an educator and coach. I'm
getting messages from people I don't even know telling me
what an influence he was on their lives. So appreciative
of your time and support. Dan and Olympia texted us
in the first hour, he said, quote, thanks MJ for
(19:33):
helping me get through this. Your attitude, honesty, sympathy, and
compassion is much appreciated, especially since I lost my father
the morning of Game frive last Friday. That victory helped
me get through the day, but the series loss was
really painful. Thanks for being you. I've become a real
fan of you. Keep it up, Dan, We thoughts, some
prayers and condolences to you and your family at this time.
Speaker 4 (19:52):
Why is the goal a World Series? It should be
to win one. I think that's exactly what they wanted
to do, which is win one. But you gotta get
there first. Yes, you can't win if you're in't in it. Yeah,
I know what you're saying. For two to five in
that regard, they want to get in it. And then
when you get in it, it's all chips on the table.
You do whatever you can to win it, but you
got to get in it. And yes, that's the first
(20:14):
step is getting there, because you know what the toughest
thing is to do is to get there. How many
times have you seen interviews where players talk about how
challenging it is to get to a Super Bowl, to
get to a World series to get to the NBA.
Speaker 2 (20:25):
Finals Sailing Cup. Yeah it's not. Oh, we just made it.
Speaker 4 (20:29):
Like yeah, take advantage of the moment, but realize how
far you've come and the Mariners they fell short of that.
Speaker 1 (20:35):
Oh absolutely, Uh MJ. This guy says, quote, see people,
MJ told you, don't bet on the NBA in all caps.
I know, I know, unless you get inside information. But
then you're gonna get the edit. Then you're gonna get
the FBI years later knocking down your door at three
in the morning like Chauncey Billips and Terry Rozier.
Speaker 4 (20:55):
As my guy Future said a few years ago in
his Wrap album, the Feds to sweep.
Speaker 2 (21:04):
And they don't.
Speaker 1 (21:05):
Hey, I'll tell you right now when it comes to
covering the spread, de feds are pretty unbeatable.
Speaker 4 (21:10):
Ninety Hey, NBA, today's gambling black Eye brought to you
by Karma for stealing our sonics.
Speaker 2 (21:18):
Oh and still not giving them back. Oh I love that.
Speaker 1 (21:22):
I love that. That is so funny. Let's see NBA corrupt, dishonest,
and unappealing. Uh why again, do we want this product back?
Speaker 6 (21:33):
No?
Speaker 2 (21:34):
Thanks, I want the product back, though I'm not gonna lie.
Speaker 1 (21:38):
Hey, maybe we'll get the Blazers. Maybe maybe the new
owners there say hell with this ish, well.
Speaker 2 (21:44):
We're gonna sell it. So yeah, we'll take the ball.
We'll take the Blazers.
Speaker 1 (21:47):
Will we renamed the Sonics, Well, Damie Lillard will get
his little farewell and that'll be it.
Speaker 4 (21:52):
Of course, kid picks my week's parlay. I don't know
if I should be scared, right, Hey, hey have faith
two and oh last week we're going to go too,
and oh again you take it week by week baby,
game by game.
Speaker 1 (22:05):
Hey, MJ and Mark over under of the days until
your name is implicating this NBA betting scandal. Ha, well
there you go under, because I am not believe me
if you looked at my NBA bets, including the Knicks,
which I still have the ticket back in February or March.
I've bet on the Knicks and I didn't know that
Karl Anthony Towns I thought he was playing, lost a
(22:27):
big chunk of change that night. Thanks a lot, Kat,
appreciate it.
Speaker 4 (22:32):
What is unbelievable that illegal activities are associated with sports gambling?
Speaker 2 (22:36):
Question? Mark? Interesting? Yeah, I know? Oh how about this one?
This is a nice one.
Speaker 1 (22:45):
Hopefully someone sees you at Dixon punches your ass in
the face and tells you to get a board, said
sandwich instead, you punk b word. Well, here's the thing.
You won't have to worry about that because I don't
pay for ketchup. Not paying for ketchup, that's it. I'm
just not doing it. I'm sorry. If your business model
is you have to charge twenty two cents to the great,
(23:07):
to the fine folks here in the PNW and Seattle
that supported this business for sixty plus years, you have
a poverty business model, poverty, poverty, you gotta charge for ketchup.
I'm out, sorry, sorry, not doing it. I'll go all
the way down to Tacoma Frisco Freeze. I'll go get
the best burger in PNW. Yep, I'll go. They don't
(23:29):
charge for ketchup. I talked to them about that two
days ago. Said, you can have all the ketchup you
want for free. Yeah, because they get it. They do
it right, and don't give me this.
Speaker 2 (23:38):
Oo what they're paying for their way. They pay for
my tuition.
Speaker 1 (23:43):
I paid for my tuition and books and expenses at
the U, and believe me, it wasn't cheap. So I
don't want to hear this world smalls violin playing just
for them. You gotta charge for ketchup. You have a
poverty business model.
Speaker 2 (23:55):
Period.
Speaker 1 (23:56):
I don't want anything to do with you. Fine, I'm done.
You will never get my busines this again.
Speaker 2 (24:00):
Sorry, last one from me.
Speaker 4 (24:03):
So we can all assume it will be the same
old thing next summer. Blue days in Seattle on a Friday, Saturday,
and Sunday with the city and media welcoming their fans
with open arms.
Speaker 2 (24:13):
Go Mariners. Yeah, yeah, let's see here.
Speaker 1 (24:19):
Uh oh, this is funny. Is there a way to
confirm that Dan Wilson is staying up to date on
his managerial continuing education courses? Well, Bruce, you know they
need to bring in someone like a veteran who's won
the World Series, actually four of them. Bring in Bruce Bochie.
He's gone, he's a free agent. Bring him in a
consult That's what I would do. Please bring him in
(24:42):
a consult.
Speaker 2 (24:44):
MJ.
Speaker 1 (24:44):
I am begging the Mariners please do not sign Suarez
from Tim to another contract. He's basically a two hundred
hitter that runs into a pitch every now and again
and hits a home. I agree with you, g know,
other than Game five was not a success here, not
a success at all. Ps I know Joe Maddens, your boy.
He did everything he could to lose the Cubs that
(25:07):
World Series ad minute, but he won.
Speaker 2 (25:09):
That's it.
Speaker 1 (25:10):
Hey and Mark, you speak the truth about Dan and
if they have Dan as manager, we will never win
it all.
Speaker 2 (25:16):
Four to five. Well, we'll see next year. Next year
to me is everything.
Speaker 1 (25:20):
If they don't get back to the playoffs next year
and make a run, then he then we pretty much
know that he is not the guy.
Speaker 2 (25:27):
So hey, kid, this one you'll love.
Speaker 3 (25:32):
Ketchup.
Speaker 2 (25:34):
Ketchup. We talk about ketchup.
Speaker 1 (25:37):
Hello thing on the Allen iverson practic Yet we talking
about ketchup. That's what we're talking about. You gotta charge.
I kids seen it, Kid has seen it. I can
post it if you want on social media. I went
to Dix a couple of weeks ago. I paid for
my meal. I got, you know, the Deluxe with the fries,
(25:57):
and I said, oh, you didn't put any ketchup in
my bag.
Speaker 2 (25:59):
I never.
Speaker 1 (26:00):
I don't mind them charging for tartar. Tar's a specialty,
that's their thing. I'll pay for the tartar. I don't
have a problem with that. I said, you didn't put
any ketchup and they said, oh, well, it's twenty two cents.
I said, excuse me, and I said, you're gonna charge
this card after I just paid for this meal twenty
two cents for ketchup. You're gonna get hit more on
(26:21):
a transactional fee than you would be for the amount
of the ketchup. And they did it, and I have
proof of it, so you know, you charge for it.
Speaker 2 (26:29):
Don't even come.
Speaker 1 (26:29):
You're not in and out, in and out, bro, You're
not like i'd go into oh in it. You're not
even close to them. They don't charge for ketchup. Stop
just stop. And by the way, please tell the people
in Dick's Corporate. I said so, and I will call
them out every day forever you charge for ketchup. It's
a bad business model if you run a fast food restaurant,
(26:52):
it's it's stupid.
Speaker 2 (26:54):
It's just stupid, and you're never gonna get my business.
Speaker 1 (26:57):
Fritzko Freezewell though in Tacoma, I'll be on there all
the time because they do it the right way and
they don't charge for catchup. Neither does Wendy's Jacking the
box McDonald's, Burger Gang, etcetera, etcetera, steak and shake, you
name it, all right. Coming up next, we'll talk to
the mayor, Ian Fernass Crosstalk Next.
Speaker 7 (27:15):
I supposed to be the franchise player and were in
here talking about practice.
Speaker 2 (27:19):
I mean, listen, we're talking.
Speaker 6 (27:21):
About not a game, not a game.
Speaker 2 (27:24):
Not a game.
Speaker 7 (27:25):
We're talking about catsups, not a game, not the game
that I go out there and die for and play
every game like it's my last.
Speaker 2 (27:37):
Not the game.
Speaker 7 (27:38):
We're talking about practice, man, I mean, how silly is that?
Speaker 3 (27:42):
Man?
Speaker 6 (27:42):
We're talking about practice?
Speaker 3 (27:56):
All right?
Speaker 2 (27:56):
I want I just want to read one thing here.
Speaker 1 (27:58):
You miss the good days at Dick's twenty to thirty
years ago was so much better.
Speaker 2 (28:02):
I never go there anymore. It's not that good.
Speaker 1 (28:04):
And if they are charging for freaking ketchup, more reason
not to go. Plus, I've never this is somebody texting in.
I've never seen so many ZiT infested faces making my meal?
Can I pop that for you because it's about to
burst on my fries?
Speaker 2 (28:18):
Wow? Well, well, well on that note, thank you to
Mike Benton.
Speaker 1 (28:25):
Today Matt Brandon joining US and from Pro Football Focus
Dalton Wasserman today, Ian Finness working crazy, busier than Grand
Central Station working cracking game. He's going to do the
cracking TV playing the Winnipeg Jets coming up later today.
So I won't ask you about anything because you refuse
(28:46):
to talk about the association.
Speaker 2 (28:49):
But I just want to ask you one thing.
Speaker 1 (28:52):
This gambling explosives scandal with Chauncey Billups and Terry Rozier.
Can I mean, Ian, can you did you ever think
did you have that on your Bengal card?
Speaker 8 (29:03):
No?
Speaker 3 (29:03):
Uh.
Speaker 8 (29:04):
And by the way, so we refuse to talk, we
need to clarify it again. It's it's uh, you know,
it's something like when we first did it and Softy
just was losing his mind. If they make a big
trade or something, that's fine. We're just not talking about
the daily activities of you know, wins and losses and
what happens on the diamond that year. This one, this one.
(29:26):
I said it yesterday. I was very very very very specific.
If something happens off the floor that is worthy of talking.
I don't know, Mark, I was thinking maybe wait for it, expansion,
something that would be you know, like something that would
be bas I. No, I did not have a sitting
coach and uh a pretty good player getting nailed by
(29:48):
the FBI for their involvement with not only a betting scandal,
but the mafia as well. So didn't have that. Uh
my apologies. Yeah, we're day one and to refuse to
talk and they're already testing me. What the hell are
they doing?
Speaker 2 (29:58):
I know, ian Ian, I can't.
Speaker 1 (30:01):
This is the thing that gets me more than anything.
More than anything, this gets me. Co Conspirator number eight,
which is Chauncey Billups, told the defendant Eric Ernest that
the Trailblazers are going to be tanking to increase their
odds of getting a better pick in the draft. Co
Conspirator eight aka Chauncey Billups, before the news was public,
(30:22):
announced that several of the Trailblazers' best players, including Player one,
an individual whose identity is known to the Grand Jury,
would not be playing in the March twenty fourth game.
The information the Blazers would be tanking and not playing
Player number one was not available to the public. The
indictment alleges that two named defendants in a separate co
(30:42):
conspirator wagered more than one hundred thousand dollars in the
Blazers to lose. The Bulls won. That came one, twenty
four to ninety six, with Portland's top four scorers all
sitting out and players won. Player one's designation moving from
probable to out on the day's injury reports.
Speaker 2 (31:03):
Oh my god, wow, can you and that?
Speaker 1 (31:07):
By the way, hey, all right, let's start casting ian
who plays Chauncey Billups when they do a drama series
on this who plays Terry Rozier.
Speaker 8 (31:16):
I'm the worst at that stuff. All you know, all
is Ziken is it's it's a very simple thing, honestly,
Like it's it's such a simple thing. And like and
I didn't I didn't realize this until a year ago
when I signed a contract to work with the Kracket.
And in that contract it's an NHL contract, there.
Speaker 9 (31:34):
Is specific language no gambling and no gambling hockey NH
on hockey, okay, And and it's I mean, I I
was in a fantasy hockey league the year before I
quit that and and I mean that's kind of like
a who knows, but I just my mess with it,
right And and like all sports have that, the NFL
is really strict.
Speaker 8 (31:54):
The NFL, you can't do anything gam wise, but the
you know, I And there's a reason for that because
like even me, I'm just a peon, I'm a nobody.
I know I can tell I know right now what
the lineup is tonight. And so that's like you could
use that. It's very simple, and so there's a reason
they didn't. Johnson Billig's band coach. He really knows who
(32:14):
the lineup is and he knows who's hurt. So, yeah,
you know, I saw some stuff today, Mark that kind
of was another things make you shake your head. But
you know people are like, well, you know, and the
NBA is in bed with fan duel and draft kings
and all this. Yeah, but that that has nothing to
do with it, Like that's that's not why these problems existed.
Pete Rose, Arizona State Basketball, Sun Devil scandal years ago,
(32:38):
Boston College, all those these issues have have been around
long before there is even such a thing as a
fan duel or casino betting or going to you know,
my place at snow Qualm on the app or anything
like that. This has existed for years.
Speaker 1 (32:51):
That has nothing to.
Speaker 8 (32:51):
Do with who sponsors your league, of the fact that
you're quote in bed with a gambling company. That those
guys want no part of that. That you know that
they want no part of that. The This is like
bad news for fan duel DraftKings and all those places.
So just be smarter, like throw the book at them,
be done with it. Hel Chauncey should have been fired
last year anyway. So yeah, it makes it easier for
the Blazers, right, Yeah, Oh, I know, I just talked
(33:12):
about it. I don't want to do that.
Speaker 2 (33:13):
Oh okay, what are you coming up today?
Speaker 8 (33:15):
Refusing to talk? I listened to all twenty six minutes
of Jerry Depoto. We've got about five minutes of that
we're gonna play. We cut it down just to basically
pay roll and nail or et cetera. So we'll get
to that in the first segment. You know, Cyrus his
last scheduled visit this year since Mariner season's over. And
then Mark, we are five minutes away four nine four
(33:37):
five one, five minutes away four nine four five to
one your fantasy football question function. It's the unofficial start
of the weekend on Thursday. We missed it the last
week because of early baseball or early hockey one or both.
So Fundtion's back four nine, four to five one. Your
text coming up no earlier than one pm. That was
the rules, as simple as that. Everyone knows what the
(33:57):
rules are. You cannot text before one o'clock. After one
o'clock we'll get your text in and phone calls as well.
So busy show coming up todaybody, all.
Speaker 1 (34:04):
Right, look forward to hearing it go crack in the night,
break down, losing streak. All right, we gotta get it done,
Yannie Newman, let's step up now. Don't make me look
you know, I got faith in you, bro, I got
faith in you for kid. We'll see you tomorrow at
close out the week right here MJ in the midday.
Stay tuned for the mayor coming up next right here
