Speaker 1 (00:00):
Seahawks Monday, Christopher Kidd on the other side of the glass.
I mean that's two words for the Vikings. We got
those two words, suck it, that's for sure, because they
definitely did yesterday twenty six nothing. What can you say
about this defense? Best defense since the Legion of Boom era.

(00:21):
They just continue to get better. And even when the
offense had its worst game of the year by far
and away three and a half yards per play two
hundred and nineteen total yards, could not deal with Brian
Flores's constant looks and blitzes and all these things to

(00:47):
kind of, you know, one hundred and twenty eight passing yards.
In the end, the defense is just too much. The
defense will carry this team. MJ and the Midday hope
you all had a great eight Thanksgiving weekend, got a
lot of turkey, whatever else you did. It's the best
sports weekend of the year. Well was for the Seattle

(01:09):
Seahawks for sure, not so much the Huskies. And we'll
get to that in a second. All right, So the game,
Ernest Jones, I asked him after the game, I went
to the postgame press conference and said, did you I
go your second tied for second in the league now
in interceptions going in now to week fourteen, did you

(01:33):
have that on your Bengo card for the season, he said, yeah,
I go really he said, yeah, I want six. You know,
he's like, I want ten force turnovers by the end
of the season. Well, he's well on his way. And
you heard that speech just there in the locker room
prior to DeMarcus Lawrence saying when they lined up, they

(01:54):
get fed up, and he just left the press conference
there's no better way to drop the mic and doing that,
and he's right on that. One teams line up, they
do get fed up. But Ernest Jones, man, wow, what
can you say about this guy and what he's meant
and the fact that, you know, the good thing in

(02:17):
all this right now is the fact that he's a
former RAM and he's doing it now for the rival
in the division. Oh, by the way, thank you, Carolina,
thank you very much for that kind of early Christmas

(02:39):
Hanukah gift there yesterday. Didn't see that one happening, but
yet nonetheless it did.

Speaker 2 (02:46):
Happen, So that was great. Crowd was loud as usual.

Speaker 1 (02:50):
Twelve's you know, off the chain no matter what. But
I'm gonna go with the great, which is the defense.
And DeMarcus Lawrence he was the one guy Oli Crowe
bro on that one Oli crow he was the one guy.

(03:10):
I didn't like that John Schneider gave I think eighteen
and a half million dollars guaranteed two. I didn't like it,
you know, And I think a lot of people like,
where does he fit in on this team? How does
he feel? He fits in quite nicely because all he
does is making major plays. The sack yesterday on Mats Brosmer, Brosmoor,

(03:36):
whatever the f your name is, and then Brosmer, you know,
kind of pulling dare I say a Sam Donald? What
Sam Donald wouldn't have done something that bad? And just
throws it up and EJ. Thirteen is right there to
take it to the house for a pick six. And

(03:56):
his defense continues to just shine on the highest level.
And all I can say is I love it, and
you've got to love it. We all have to love it.
And this team right now showing why that they might

(04:19):
be the best team in the NFL. And I know
everybody has talked about, well the Rams, Well let me
just tell you something right now.

Speaker 2 (04:29):
If you needed any.

Speaker 1 (04:31):
Sort of evidence on why when these teams meet two
weeks from Thursday night here at Lumenfield, Richard Sherman Prime
back in the house, Seattle Seahawks aren't given up thirty
one points to the Carolina Panthers. Seattle's not giving up

(04:54):
thirty points to anybody in the NFL.

Speaker 2 (04:56):
I don't care who it is.

Speaker 1 (04:58):
Detroit, Green Bay, Dallas, who has an amazing offense, not
so much the defense, And that to me showed the
dent in the armor of the La Rams yesterday. They're
not on the level the Seahawks, and they don't want

(05:18):
any part of this defense coming up in two and
a half weeks now.

Speaker 2 (05:24):
The offense, wow, really bad.

Speaker 1 (05:29):
But I gotta say this too, It's like the old
line from The Godfather, Part three. They call Coda now
the worst Godfather of them all, when Michael Corleone said,
just when I'm out, Just when I think I'm out,
they pull me back in the O line. Second quarter yesterday, Seahawks,

(05:50):
second possession, third and nine from the end zone, Eric
Wilson literally unbl by Anthony Bradford, so Donald had to
throw it away, literally unblocked.

Speaker 2 (06:07):
Not Donald's fault.

Speaker 1 (06:09):
Next possession, second quarter, Andrew van Ginkel unblocked on the
left side to stop Charbonnet on third and goal, Seahawks
had to settle for a field goal next possession. Number one,
Before the next possession, Rashid Shaheed nobody within eight to

(06:33):
ten yards of when he's gonna catch the ball, and
instead he calls for a fair catch. Dude, That's why
John Schneider and Clint Kubiak brought you to Seattle, giving
up a fourth and a fifth round pick. Not to
make fair catches when nobody's within ten yards of you
catching the punt.

Speaker 2 (06:55):
Be a man.

Speaker 1 (06:56):
Watch YouTube Devin Hester, Dion Sanders. Don't be doing fair
catches when nobody's within ten yards of you.

Speaker 2 (07:07):
That's what you got. That's why you were brought here.

Speaker 1 (07:11):
Okay, number one, On that ensuing possession, fourth possession of
the game, there was the turnover fumble by Sam Darnold,
But you know what, I don't blame him. You know
why because Dallas Turner from Alabama went completely unblocked and

(07:34):
there was a lot of that yesterday. And I'm glad
that Gray's Abel after the game came out and said
we have to do better. I have to do better.
We missed a lot of blocks today. I'm paraphrasing, but
he said something to that extent. Yes, all of you did,
not just you Gray, everybody did. That O line absolutely

(07:58):
sucked yesterday. They get an A minus. And I'll tell
you right now, I knew this was gonna happen. I
covered Brian Flores in New England in his last few
years with the Patriots before he left to go to
the Dolphins.

Speaker 2 (08:15):
He comes from the Bill Belichick school.

Speaker 1 (08:19):
You take the opposing offense's best weapon away. Now, I
did pretty I did good on player props this weekend,
except for Josh Allen who screwed me over. Thank you,
Devon h Chan who went over eighty one and a
half yards. He had sixty two yards in the first
quarter yesterday. Was a good under bet on JSN because

(08:43):
I knew Brian Flores would take him out of the
game and make sure anybody beats that team but JSN,
and that's what he did, twenty three yards on two catches.
So credit to Brian Flores on that. The problem for
the Vikings is that they couldn't score in a brothel

(09:06):
with a fistful of one hundreds. And I don't care
if JJ McCarthy was healthy, the score would have probably
been about the same. Instead, you had a guy yesterday
who couldn't start for Ohio State, Indiana, Texas A and
m Oregon Ole, miss Miami Cal Berkeley. That freshman stud

(09:33):
is gonna be wile. That guy's going to be the
number one overall pick in the draft in two years.
I love that guy. This Samoan, Oh, he's unbelievable. Love
that kid. Alabama, who else? Vanderbilt, Tennessee, Texas, Texas Tech,
Notre Dame, Michigan.

Speaker 2 (09:56):
Max Brosmer is that how bad the league is right now?

Speaker 1 (10:01):
You sign a guy who was undrafted from the University
of Minnesota because he was a local kid. He had
no business, he has no business being on an NFL roster. None, zero,
absolutely none. So it was listen, I'll take the win.
It was a shutout win. And anybody will tell you,

(10:22):
any analysts, any former coach. Mike Homrean said it on
the morning show. To get a shutout in this league
against anybody, even if it's.

Speaker 2 (10:33):
The Aints, it's tough to do. It's very tough to do.

Speaker 1 (10:38):
And because with those teams now they cross you know,
plus territory they're almost in field goal range now with
how some of these field goal kickers are kicking, especially
Brandon Aubrey. Look at Jason Meyer said, two fifty yard
field goals yesterday. So you take the win, tied for

(10:59):
first with the Ram And here's the great part. Hawks
control their own destiny. Went out when the division and
maybe take the one seat now now that the Rams
lost to the Panthers. Just went out and don't have
a misstep like the Rams did yesterday in Carolina this Sunday,

(11:23):
good news.

Speaker 2 (11:25):
I can give you a guarantee on the weather.

Speaker 1 (11:28):
The weather's gonna be about seventeen and a half degrees
inside the dome at Mercedes Benz in the A, so
you don't have to worry about any inclement conditions. You're
gonna have to go to Carolina a few weeks later,
but we'll worry about that when we.

Speaker 2 (11:42):
Get to that point. But what can you say about
this team?

Speaker 1 (11:46):
And the thing I love about it the most, they're
getting better as the season goes on.

Speaker 2 (11:53):
Now, Brad, now, Darnold, yesterday was not good. I just wasn't.

Speaker 1 (11:59):
And thankfully Cooper Cup recovered one of his fumbles. But
again when the opposing defenses have a direct fast pass
to the quarterback. That to me is an O line problem.
And they had no answer. And I kind of wonder, now,
what if the defense didn't come up with five turnovers yesterday?

(12:23):
What would the score have been? What if Minnesota didn't
turn the ball over? Because that offense got nowhere? Now
you start to wonder a little bit. Did the Vikings
put a blueprint for every other team now on how
to defend the Seahawks' offense going forward? I mean, yesterday

(12:45):
you should have called the Seahawks defense the Stimulants plan
because they bailed out the offense all game long.

Speaker 2 (12:52):
They were stimulus. That's it.

Speaker 1 (12:56):
I mean it was pretty yesterday like that defense is
going to carry this team. And that's good because you know,
and I'm hoping the Seahawks do not have to go
on the road in the playoffs. But if you have
to go on the road, the defense travels. And I
don't care if you're the Bears, if you're the Eagles
who are reeling right now, whoever you are, the Rams,

(13:20):
the forty nine ers, you don't want to face this
Seahawks defense. They are the best defense in the NFL
all due respect to Houston Denver, even the Rams, because
the Rams yesterday you gave up thirty one points to
Bryce Young and the Panthers. Okay, at that point, you're

(13:41):
no longer the best defense in the NFL, because I
can promise you the Seattle Seahawks, I will guarantee you
this defense will not give up thirty points or more
to anybody the rest of the season.

Speaker 2 (13:55):
They will not. It just won't happen. No team on
this schedule.

Speaker 1 (14:00):
And the Rams are left, the forty nine ers are left,
and the Panthers are left. I don't even count the Falcons,
and forget about the Colts. Forget about them right now.
Nobody's putting thirty on this defense. This defense is elite.
It's sick, it's killer, and it's great to see. And

(14:21):
we should all be so lucky because we are not
worthy of how great in elite this defense truly is.
But that's what you do. You take care of business
against bad teams. That was a bad team against a
quarterback has no business. He probably I don't even know
if he could play in the UFL right now for

(14:42):
the Rock that's how bad he is. Max Brosmer never
even heard of him. Never heard of him. Literally, And
I watch college football more than anybody, wall to wall
from nine am until ten thirty pm. Used to be
from noon to one thirty am in the morning, but

(15:03):
my hours change going from east coast to west coast.
Never heard of this, JEBBRONI has no business being on
an NFL roster. So thank God for the defense, because
the defense rules, and they carried this team to victory yesterday. Literally,
So thank you DeMarcus Lawrence, Thank you Ernest Jones. Oh

(15:25):
by the way, Oh, I'd be remiss if I didn't
say this as much as the defense. And I will
credit I will, I will. In the fourth quarter, we
had it right then and there in the fourth quarter,
Bruce smurthrews throws another interception in Riek Wollen. And if

(15:47):
you could take one play and you had to say
to an opposing team or a scout, because Rieke Wollan's
in a contract year, He's going to be a free
agent after the season, how would you define Rieke Wollen
his entire career? That play yesterday in the fourth quarter

(16:08):
has a great interception, he returns it, tries to get
too much. Jalen Naylor pops the ball out fumble Vikings
recover that play. Right there is Rieke Woollan's entire career
in a nutshell right there. He does the great with

(16:30):
the uh, what the f? Bro, what the f That's
his entire career right there. It didn't matter because the
defense did what the defense does, which is bail out
his team whenever they're in a position of need. And
they weren't a position of need all game yesterday. But

(16:51):
if there was, I mean, was that not a microcosm
of Reek Wollens's entire career? You got the great with.

Speaker 2 (16:59):
The wh oh no, I you know, it is what
it is.

Speaker 1 (17:04):
But hey, you take the shutout, you take the win,
and you move on your thoughts on that. It is,
by the way, a hot take Monday, So go to
the free iHeartRadio app. Leave your take on yesterday's game
the weekend, the Huskies Ducks on Saturday. We'll get to

(17:26):
that coming up next, and you have a chance to
win a platter of Borshead sandwiches.

Speaker 2 (17:31):
At noon. Go to the free iHeart radio app.

Speaker 1 (17:34):
Look for ninety three to three kjar hit the microphone
icon button boom right then and there we'll give away
a platter of bor said sandwiches. Thank you to Patrick
at Donovan's Provision and Deli, so we will have that
your hot take on the weekend. Huskies Ducks yep, yup, yup. Well,
I think we can put to bed of Jedfish leaving

(17:57):
for Florida or UCLA or any other jobs at this point.
We'll get to that coming up next. Mjy and the
Midday Christopher Kidd. On a Monday, coming up at noon,
go to the free iHeartRadio app, look for the ninety
three to three KJR microphone icon. Boom. Hit that right
there rant away, and make sure, as kids said, make

(18:20):
sure you leave your name and your number when you
fill out that information so we can get back in
touch you. Two weeks ago, a young woman she won it.
We couldn't find her, so we gave away to last week.
So there's that, so make sure you do that. We'll
also take the calls. Hopefully the phone lines are good
for noon. Nick Bombgardner from Pro Football Focus will join

(18:41):
us coming up out eleven The Athletic, My bad, the
Athletic from the Athletic. Nick bomb Gardner, It's Monday, all right,
so here we go. The Washington Huskies yup. All right, Oregon,
You're legit. You're legit. I've seen you in person now,

(19:02):
I was there on Saturday, and you're a team. You
have one of the best defenses in college football. It's
weird how Oregon has shifted from what they were, you know,
really in the Chip Kelly era, Darren Thomas and Dixon

(19:24):
and Michael James and putting up one hundred and eighteen
plays every game, and now they are a defensive juggernaut.
They are legit. Washington, it's your two. If you said
before the season eight and four, most people would have

(19:46):
taken it. I think when you had a chance to
go ten and two, but losing to Wisconsin, that was
the one inexcusable game.

Speaker 2 (19:57):
That was it.

Speaker 1 (19:58):
And I mean, you know, for Jedfish, who has kind
of compared his offense in the past to Kyle Shanahan
and Sean McVeigh, not there yet. And I think the
one thing for Oregon is this that and if you
need to put in the tape and look at the

(20:20):
difference at how far Oregon is away from the college
football playoffs, because that's excuse me, how far Washington Oregon
is in the college football playoffs. Excuse me, how far
you dub is away from the college football playoffs? Need
look no further than the Ohio State and Oregon games. Now, granted,

(20:44):
Ryan Day's been there for six years. Dan Lanning's been
there for over four years. But that's how far away
you are from the college football playoffs. That look at
the losses this season for the Huskies, and especially against

(21:04):
Ohio State. You put up six points, you know, And
I think the thing for me is that the best
thing and maybe the worst thing for Jedfish was losing
to Wisconsin because I think at that point, and I
told you I worked in Florida. I know a lot

(21:24):
of people down there who cover the Gators. Nobody down
there was wanting Jedfish and that's why they hired John Summral.
Nobody wanted Jedfish was twelfth on their wish list down
in Gainesville. All right, But you look at the Huskies

(21:45):
this year. Lost six points to Ohio State, lost to
Michigan seven points, loss to Wisconsin ten points, and then
fourteen to Oregon therein lies, and forget about Wisconsin because
that demon Williams threw three picks that day and you're

(22:06):
never gonna win a game if your team throws three
picks unless you have the Seattle Seahawks defense. But you're
that far away when you and to me, Michigan wasn't
exactly some great defensive entity this year, but they held
the Hoskies to seven points that game.

Speaker 2 (22:26):
So you're that far away, and I.

Speaker 1 (22:30):
Think in a way, I'll look at the positives and
how what do you mean about positives? By the way,
my bad DeMont Williams threw one interception against Wisconsin. He
had three against Michigan, right, but he had a fumble

(22:50):
at like Washington's own goal line, which pretty much killed
them in that game. That was the big fumble there
in that game. But you're that far away at the
end of the day, you're that far away, and I think,
like I said, maybe the Wisconsin loss ends up being.

Speaker 2 (23:11):
Sort of a.

Speaker 1 (23:13):
Silver lining and everything, because after that, I stop hearing
Jedfish's name anywhere, and I mean anywhere. You heard UCLA, Well,
that didn't happen. They just hired James Madison coach Bob Chesney.
You heard Florida, Well, John Sumral's going there, So that's

(23:34):
not happening either. So at that point, you're like that
loss but I think for the stability of the Huskies program,
it's good that Jedfish and Demon Williams are back next
year and it will be Jedfish's third season on Mottlake,

(23:54):
and that is a good thing. So you see how
close you were in yet how far away you are.
You're eight and four and should have been at least
nine to three, should have not lost to Wisconsin. But
I think the thing that's the most disconcerting thing for

(24:15):
me is that Demon Williams comes up small. He's a
small quarterback to begin with, but he comes up small
in big games against Ohio State, against Michigan, against Oregon,
And that to me is where, yeah, yeah, you're playing

(24:37):
the four and five stars there at that point. Those
holes close much quicker when you're trying to get around
the edge against Ohio State than they do UC Davis
when you're dropping seventy, or they do against Colorado State,
don't they or Rutgers. So another thing about Jed Fish

(24:59):
in his play calling, why does Washington, especially in big
games and just in a lot of games period, like
the Maryland game, why did they come out so lethargic
and as if they've never ever It's like, there's no
they get off to such slow starts Ohio State, Maryland.

Speaker 2 (25:22):
They came back and won that game because.

Speaker 1 (25:24):
They scored twenty four points in the second half, But
why do they keep getting off to slow starts with
his play calling? It's clunky, it's all over the place.
You want to watch if I was Jedfish, forget about you,
like you want to watch how to call a game?

Speaker 2 (25:46):
Sea Lane Kiffin at Ole Miss.

Speaker 1 (25:49):
That's it, Seelane Kiffin at ole Miss, oh starting quarterback
goes down, No big deal, We'll do better with the backup.
Trinidad Chambliss. No problem. We're good call games like Lane Kiffin.
That's all I'm saying. Lane Kiffin to me is the
best play caller in college football, and that's why he's

(26:10):
now arguably the highest paid coach in college football. All Right,
So for the Huskies, I think it's good. Jetfish coming
back for year three, Demon Williams coming back for year three,
Denzel Boston probably going to the NFL. We'll see Jonah
Coleman and Muhammad and Jordan Washington. I think they have

(26:31):
a top twenty recruiting class coming in, so build on that.
Get guys in the portal and then for year three
is where you make your move and get this team
into that twelve and who knows could be sixteen team playoff.
That's my thought. But you're nowhere near Ohio State in Oregon,
nowhere near them. And kudos to Oregon for you Ducks

(26:52):
fans out there, I give you credit. Y'all are a
legit You're a legit team.

Speaker 2 (26:56):
All right.

Speaker 1 (26:57):
Coming up next, I like this guy out of Mississippi
can't turn a hoe into a housewife. My oh my, yeah,
I guess he was right. We'll get to hitting to
all fields. Nick Baumgardner from The Athletic Coming Up Factor
Fiction eleven thirty five and your chance to win a
platter board said sandwiches hot take Monday at noon. All right,

(27:27):
So there was this thing that happened after the Old
Miss game versus Mississippi State the Egg Bowl on Saturday.
Lane Kiffin, in full bully mode, goes after a reporter
who basically made some comment to the extent of that's
why you don't make a hoe into a housewife. And
for all the fellows out there, those are works to

(27:49):
live by. You don't make a whole housewife Like he's
not kidding on that. Lane Kiffin approached the guy after
the game and said, yeah, I want to see you.
You come in there and do that like with a
postgame press conference. So here's the postgame press conference, and
the guys showed up.

Speaker 3 (28:08):
Has there been some frustration over the last couple of weeks?
I saw you postgame. There was an incident right before
you went into the locker room, and it just seemed
like you were a little bit upset. They'be got some
things that have come out over the last couple of
weeks or how things have gone the last couple of weeks.

Speaker 4 (28:22):
You know, I understand your guys job, and I think
things are fair, you know, like I say with questions,
of those are fair questions. Maybe I can answer them.
Maybe I don't see them the same. And you call
someone a you know, that's a different.

Speaker 5 (28:33):
Level of stuff. You know, can't make it else watch
you know, or something like that. That's just that's about
its bush league is stealing. Tryda add to Jersey like
Mississippi State did last night, you know, but we had
another one. But so I ain't gotta respect for that.

Speaker 6 (28:49):
I don't know either, But that wasn't the comment of
the common was Donkey King. It's not calling you up
about commitment, and that's what really the question is you
wanted a commitment from we're asking about where you're committed to.
You're still on doing SETH so you don't think there's
anything wrong, but enough said about something. So this is
that vantaged after a win, especially in Diego.

Speaker 5 (29:11):
Next question, what's the name?

Speaker 1 (29:15):
Okay, well, you probably do know his name because that's
why you knew what he looked like.

Speaker 2 (29:19):
That's for sure.

Speaker 1 (29:19):
His name is Ben Garrett and Ben today looks like
a prophet. Because Lane Kiffin went to LSU seven years,
ninety one million dollars. Now, I don't have a problem
with Lane going to LSU. Apparently Olemis could match the salary,
but they couldn't match the fact that he wants the
highest paid roster in college football and LSU can compete

(29:42):
with Ohio State, in Texas and Alabama and and though
you know the big wigs, they can compete with and
they they will probably have that if not more so,
I don't blame Lane for leaving. Here's the issue that
I have with Lane, and it kind of goes to
a lot of things, and it's like, so you basically

(30:05):
used your PR firm, which is now known as ESPN
and Marty Smith. And I've known Marty Smith for over
fifteen years now, but you used ESPN to create Marty
Smith and Ross Dellinger and all these guys you use them. Oh,
Lane's different now. Oh, it's not about the money. Always happy.

(30:28):
He's in a different part of his life right now.
Oh he's he's this and he's living in memory of
his late great father Monty. And then you became exactly
what this reporter from Mississippi was you you really like
you told you did exactly what you did to Tennessee
fifteen years ago, where you left them after nine months

(30:49):
and you went to USC. So I don't have a
problem with you improving your family's financial future and portfolio.
But to come out and say, oh, I'm a change man. Oh,
and there's a thirty for thirty out there, the many
lives of Lane Tiffin that they put out there.

Speaker 2 (31:07):
You know, let's see if they updated it. They won't
update that now.

Speaker 1 (31:11):
Do you notice how they got that thing out before
the end of the year, Because that came out about
a month ago, six weeks ago. So Lane, you haven't
changed now, I don't blame you. I if I had
a choice between ole Miss and LSU, I'd go to LSU.

Speaker 6 (31:25):
