Speaker 1 (00:01):
Grandpa. His nickname is Pee Pauw Philip Rivers, forty four
year old quarterback who hasn't played in five years, and
so that brings a whole nother storyline coming with it.
But nonetheless, I am I listen, I am just basically
(00:21):
completely and totally shocked about this whole thing. I can't
believe this is real, but yet it is reel. And
the fact that the most elite dangerous defense in the NFL.
(00:42):
Of course, people in Houston would disagree with the Texans,
and I understand Texans stand on business too, and justifiably so.
And if you don't believe me, you can ask Patrick
Mahomes on Sunday night and what they did to him. Okay,
look at that right then. Now that being said, I've
(01:04):
heard some scuttle butt about certain quarterbacks and you know,
and the guys that have not been called and will
not fit in systems and whatnot, and Cam Newton being
one of them, I would think that he could probably
he looks instilled to be in great shape, could walk
right on to a football field and sling the pill.
(01:25):
Don't know. He has the mobility and movement that he
did in his MVP season ten years ago. Fine, But
one of the other things that I've heard about is
is a name and it kind of and I knew
this was gonna happen, and I bet here ten months
and I knew this was gonna happen, and you know,
(01:48):
I kind of laugh a little bit, but at the
same time, it's it's it's kind of cringey. It's like
going by that accident that you know you're waiting in
traffic to get by, and you're not supposed to look
over to the right or the left wherever the accident
(02:09):
is on the highway. And by the way, be careful
out there. Speaking of highways, I didn't know about. I
never experienced any type of I mean, yeah, there's been
flooding in places that I live, but not to the
extent that I've seen on the news over the course
of the last few days here in western Washington and
mud slides. I've never experienced anything like that. So wherever
(02:30):
you are Skadget County, please be careful and godspeed to
everybody out there. Be safe, pay attention to all the
you know, the local news channels for everything, and I
hope everybody is okay, all right, And I just want
to say that on a PSA, But you know, I
(02:52):
gotta laugh a little bit because, you know, yeah, I've
been in different markets, you know, And I think, you know,
there's two people on this station that I really can
identify with more than anybody because they've been in different markets.
Ifness and Chuck Powell and those guys have and I
(03:15):
consider that a badge of honor. It's perspective. So when
I'm sitting here and I'm telling you about SEC football,
I know about SEC football. I've got two SEC degrees.
When I'm telling you about the University of Miami and
the ACC, well, I know I've got a degree from
there too. I've been in markets. I've been in the
(03:37):
A AKA the atl Atlanta Okay, I've you know, I've
encountered and had you know, rappers on my show when
I was in the A and on the Great People
Station V one oh three, and in Ben in Charlotte, Okay,
and interviewed Michael Jordan. I've been in Boston and New
(03:58):
England and interviewed Tom Brady. I mean, that's not bragging.
Those are just facts. I've interviewed Steph Curry multiple times.
So I have a perspective of being in my sixth market,
starting in Miami Fort Lauderdale and moving up to Tampa
Saint Pete Clearwater and then going to Charlotte in Atlanta
and then to Boston and now to Seattle. I have
(04:21):
a perspective, so I haven't just lived my entire life,
and not that there's anything wrong with that, but I
can see the world from a different spectrum from most people.
And Ian's been in different markets. He's been in Portland,
Salt Lake City. Chuck was in Phoenix, and Chuck's been
in different markets, so we can understand perspective. And you know,
(04:46):
somebody mentioned the name Colin Kaepernick, not on the station,
but I've just seen that on social media. Ooh, what
did they give coin Kaepernick? You know, it's like, are
we really gonna go down that road again? Really? Is
that the road? You know? Like Chris Ballard, who's a
really good general manager with the Indianapolis Colts, and he
(05:08):
used to be with the Kansae Chiefs, like any other
of the other thirty one in general managers, including our
own John Schneider. You don't sign Colin Kaeperdick number one
because you're gonna kill your business. It's gonna be completely polarizing.
But more than that, he hasn't played in close to
a decade. And if I need to go through the
(05:32):
laundry list of why Colin Kaeperdick's not in the NFL
and no team has even touched him other than the
Atlanta Falcons. Well they didn't touch him, but they gave
him a tryout about six years ago. He didn't like
the time of the workout and he played the victim card,
(05:54):
which Notre Dame has done a really good job this
week of doing that and just kind of reminded reiterate
a lot of you, Colin Kaepernick with the whole kneeling
for the national anthem, all that stuff. You know what,
Let's put that aside for a second. Colin Kaepernick is
not in the NFL because he never threw more than
(06:18):
twenty one touchdown passes in a singular season. Actually, his
career high was twenty one. He never threw twenty five
touchdown passes in a season. He never had a four
thousand yard passing season, he never had a fourth quarter comeback,
and his last two seasons in the NFL, he was
three and sixteen. He was one in ten. In twenty
sixteen and completed less than sixty percent of his passes.
(06:40):
As a starting quarterback, his career record was twenty eight
and thirty. I think Philip Rivers, who's a surffied future
Hall of Famer, record was a little bit better than that.
I know, Cam Newton's was because Cam Newton won the
freaking MVP, and that's something Philip Rivers never did. So
if you want to say, hey, why didn't they give
Cam Newton a chance, I'm all with you. I mean,
(07:03):
I believe camp can probably still play somewhere somehow, right,
I mean Davis Mills. Really, I mean, we got some
absolute garbage trash qbs in the NFL. Thankfully, here in
Seattle we don't have one. We've even got a really
good backup quarterback. But if you're gonna go Colin Kaepernick,
(07:23):
let's let's close that door. That ship has sailed a long,
long time ago out to sea. And oh, by the way,
I'd be remistified and mentioned the dude lost his job
to a guy who looks like Sunshine from remember the Titans,
(07:43):
Blaine Gabbert in San Francisco. So there's that as well,
Philip Rivers. Yeah, I mean, I don't know why the
Colts brought him out. I mean, I'm sure they called
Andrew Luck first, but Andrew Luck wants nothing to do.
When Andrew Luck retired, he's He's like, that's it. There's
gonna be no Rick Flair, you know, eighteen you know,
(08:05):
different comebacks. And Andrew Luck's like, I'm good, I'm done.
I'm gonna be at Stanford. I'm the eighty there. And
I respect Andrew Luck, I really do. But let's just
kind of pump the brakes and let's just put Colin Kaepernick.
I'm gonna give Colin Kaepernick some credit here. He also
took San Francisco to the Super Bowl in twenty twelve,
(08:27):
and they had a chance to win it, and maybe
if Randy Moss didn't get alligator arms because Ed Reid
was coming across the middle, they might have won that game. Seriously, so,
to Colin Kaepernick's credit, he beat Aaron Rodgers in the
postseason to get to the Super Bowl. He beat Eli
Manning in the postseason to get to the Super matter
of fact, I think he beat Aaron Rodgers twice in
(08:47):
his playoff career, and he had a nice run for
a little bit. But let's just kinda if we're gonna
go retro quarterback, Yeah, I'm gonna put Cam Newton up
there above anybody else because I believe somehow, someway you
put Cam Newton out there in the pocket behind a
good old line because I don't. Obviously Cam's not gonna
(09:08):
be able to to to dodge and you know guys
like Daniel Hunter and Will Anderson Junior the way he
used to. But I believe Cam Newton could have a
spot as a backup quarterback somewhere in the NFL. Sure,
I absolutely do. But let's just kind of chill and
put the nail and the coffin of Colin kaepernickle Let's
(09:31):
just let's just do that because for me, I am
you know, I don't. We don't need to go down
that road again, all right. We need to talk about
the team that I believe has a chance to be
the best team in the NFL, our Seattle Seahawks. And
I love where this organization is at, but more importantly,
(09:56):
I love where it's going. We're just right now scratching
the surf. People want. I could say, oh is this
twenty twelve? Hold on a second, just hold on, this
might be twenty thirteen, and we'll find out. We won't
really find out on Sunday because you're gonna be playing
a forty four year old quarterback and if not him
(10:17):
Riley Leonard. And I mean, there's a reason the Hawks
are a two touchdown favorite. They've given up nine points
in their last two games, which is our last game,
which is insane. And what this team? Yeah, their last
two games. I'm I had it right. The first time
they shut out the Vikings and they gave up nine
on the road to Atlanta. So I love this team.
(10:38):
And I love the thing that I've seen so far
in the ten months that I've been here, just the
fact that this team and how much the fans truly
love the Seahawks here. Seattle's is a football town. It is.
(10:58):
You got the Seahawks, you got the huh Kies, but
the Seahawks make it like you can see. And I
love the run that the Mariners made to Game seven
of the Alcs. But this is a football town. This
is a football town, and I mean that in the
highest complimentary way. Also believe it's a basketball town. But
we're sitting here and we're waiting, you know, seventeen eighteen
(11:21):
years later for the NBA to get their freaking act together,
and quite frankly, you know, you know, I don't know when,
and now I'm beginning to think I don't know if
that's ever gonna happen. But this is a football town
and this team right now is on the precipice of prominence,
and this team could make a run. I believe, Okay,
(11:45):
there's a chance coming up. And you look at the
forty nine excuse me, the Seahawks upcoming schedule, and I
do believe that there is a chance. After the final
regular season game of the year on Sunday, January fourth,
against the San Francisco forty nine Ers at Levi Stadium,
(12:09):
I believe a little bit over a month from there,
on Sunday, February eighth, the Seattle Seahawks could be playing
back in that stadium. That's how much I buy and
then this team, and that's how much I believe in
this team. Now, the litmus test is going to be
(12:29):
a week from last night. Matthew Stafford, Sean McVay, Puka Nakua,
Devonte Adams, and that vaunted Rams team who are undefeated
against the Seattle Seahawks when Matthew Stafford plays six and zero,
that's it right there. That's the season. They still got
to take care of business at Carolina and then at
(12:52):
Levi Stadium against the forty nine ers, but that's the
season next Thursday night, but we got to take care
of business on Sunday. I don't anticipate this being a
tough game, especially with his defense. I just think it's
gonna be. I mean, this should be. If the Indianapolis
Colts score more than thirteen points, color me shocked, because
(13:17):
they shouldn't not against this defense. This defense is sick,
it's filthy, it's nasty, and it's it's just a sight
to behold. And when we went into the Mariner season, okay,
we knew the strength of that team back in March
into April was a starting pitching, well starting pitching. Logan
(13:42):
Gilbert start off the season on the IL. George Kirby
then I believe spent the next two months on the IL.
Bryce Miller got hurt, their Luis Castillo struggled, and they
didn't live up to the expectations really except for Brian
wu who unfortunately ended up getting hurt at the end
(14:02):
of the year. And I think ultimately costs the Mariners
the chance, because I believe with a healthy Brian Wu,
the Mariners wrap up that series against Toronto in five
games at the most. I really believe that. I think
Brian Wo's injury in hindsight, other than Damager the manager,
other than that, Brian Wu getting hurt really hurt his team.
(14:24):
But the one thing that has been ads advertised, actually
it's been even better than advertised is this Seattle Seahawks defense.
I thought they'd be tops five to six. I didn't
think they'd be arguably the best. I didn't think when
Sam Darnald turned into Jets donald a month ago at
(14:47):
Sofi Stadium in LA against the Rams and through four interceptions,
there's no way probably any team in the NFL, including Houston,
and including Denver, who also has a great defense, there's
no way any team in the NFL when their quarterback
throws four interceptions against a team like the La Rams,
(15:12):
who without Devonte Adams, had the only shot at knocking
off the team who made the run and won last
year's Super Bowl. And I'm talking about the Eagles, and
they did it in the blistering snow in Philadelphia. No
team in the NFL would have a chance to win
that game on a sixty one yard walk off field
(15:35):
goal like the Seahawks did. That's how great this defense is.
I believe if this defense stays healthy, if they stay intact. Now,
I know we're talking about lofty expectations. I know the
Legion of Boom Era was the only defense in NFL
history to lead the NFL in points per game allowed
(15:56):
for four straight seasons. I know you're comparing it to
the two Buccaneers, who should have five Hall of Famers
but have four of them, and Ronde Barber, John Lynch,
Derek Brooks, Warren Sapp, Sime and Rice should be in
there too. I believe we can compare this defense to
the two thousand Baltimore Ravens, as well the twenty fifteen
(16:19):
Denver Broncos with Von Miller in his prime in DeMarcus Ware.
But right now, I'm liking where this team is. And
here's the best part about the Seattle Seahawks in twenty
twenty five. They haven't even come close to peaking yet.
See I look at other teams in the NFL, I think,
(16:42):
quite frankly, I have a lot of skepticism of the
New England Patriots. Okay, they've won ten in a row
and they might clinch the division on Sunday after beating Buffalo.
I don't trust them in the playoffs. I just don't.
I don't think that they're gonna make a run and
represent the AFC and Super Bowl sixty. They could, but
I don't think that they will. The Seattle Seahawks right now,
(17:05):
they haven't even scratched the surface on peaking in this
season yet. They're still on that meteor ascent up, up
and up, and they haven't even come close to doing that.
And you know what that means. That means that this
team is scary. Scary. You don't want to face this team.
(17:29):
I'm telling you right now. If you take a straw
poll amongst every general manager and coach in the NFC
and maybe the NFL right now, you take a straw
pole and you ask what team do you not want
to face in the NFL playoffs in January? And I
(17:50):
will assure you ninety five percent of those coaches and
general managers and owners would say the Seattle Seahawks. That's
how great this team is, and that's how great I
believe we are right now at the start of what
could be something truly special here in the PNW, and
(18:14):
I'm here for all of it. Inject it into my veins, Okay,
I am here for it. And it's gonna continue on
Sunday after this team wins convincingly decisively and goes to
eleven and three, setting up the de facto NFC West
Divisional Championship game next Thursday night here at Lumenfield. But
(18:37):
I will tell you this right now, Philip Rivers, if
you're going to be behind center on Sunday, I will
pray for you. I will pray for your family, I
will pray for your soul, because when you step on
that field, there's no mercy. There's no mercy, and you
will receive none. From Leonard Williams to Marcus Lawrence, Byron Murphy,
Jaron Reid, Devin Witherspoon, Reek Wollen, no Buddy, Ernest Jones,
(19:02):
these guys will not They're not gonna pull punches. No
punches will be pulled, and I can't wait for it.
So a lot of things to get to and something
happened recently that could change the entire complexion of the
NFL and maybe, just maybe could even change perhaps something
(19:27):
that could happen here in Seattle with the Seahawks. We'll
get to that next. We've got today short show. Greg
Bell Jessamin McIntyre are live from Baltimore for the Army
Navy Preview Radio ROW. So we're only here to noon today.
So your fantasy football questions usually at noon with Ian Ritchie.
We will have with Ian's partner Sean Crusen at eleven,
(19:49):
So get ready for that coming up at eleven. But
coming up next, uh oh, this could shift a lot
of things in the NFL. Right here. M Jane in
the day with Christopher Kid Tito's Handmade Vodka Football Friday
on Sports Radio ninety three to three KJR them.
Speaker 2 (20:07):
I want to keep doing this. I have to have
fun doing it. You know, I've been through a lot,
and if it's not fun, then what am I doing
it for? Mindset I'm trying to bring to the table.
Speaker 1 (20:16):
Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but it seemed frustrated.
Speaker 2 (20:19):
There's a lot of things going on right now. All
the book you said, there's nothing. All we can do
is focus week to we can try to try to
win games. I don't think anybody's really thinking about the
playoffs right now, that's within reach, but on our fingertips.
So he's got to keep doing what we're doing and
try to get better.
Speaker 1 (20:38):
That's Joe Burrow. This is M Jay in the midday
of Christopher Kid on Sports Radio ninety three to three
KJRFM and a Tito's Handmade Vodka Football Friday. Wow, if
I was a Cincinnati Bengals fan, I would not be
sleeping very well at night right now at all. By
the way, Tito's Handmade Vodka Football for proud sponsor of
(21:01):
the Seahawks, is stilled in bottled by Fifth Generation, Inc. Austin, Texas,
forty percent alcohol by volume Saver. Responsibly, that sound like
it sounds like a guy who's had it in Cincinnati.
He's done. Why do I bring that up? Well, remember
the Rams said the number one pick in the twenty
sixteen NFL Draft and they took Jared Goff. Jared Goff
(21:24):
actually got to him to a Super Bowl a couple
of years later. Well, they went to a Super Bowl,
probably in spite of him, mostly because of Aaron Donald
and Todd Gurley, but nonetheless they decided to eventually upgrade
in their opinion and trade Jared goff to Detroit and
get Matthew Stafford. If Joe Burrow is available, the Seattle
(21:47):
Seahawks and every team not named the New England Patriots,
the Buffalo Bills, the Baltimore Ravens, and the Kansas City
Chiefs should inquire about. I mean, because it sounds to
me like he You can tell he's kind of mentally
(22:11):
checked out. Now he's sick of this crap. And I
don't blame him. Now, Joe Burrow's been hurt a lot.
It's hurt last season, he was hurt this year for
two months. He just came back. But when he comes
back and he's on that field, he's dynamic, dynamic. So
I'm just throwing this out there. Would you be interested?
(22:35):
And actually, you know, let me let me let me
change that question, because you should all be interested. How
much are you willing to give to get a guy
like Joe Burrow to come here to Seattle with this
absolutely sick, effing elite defense. Could you imagine the possibilities
(23:04):
Joe Burrow and JSN just saying just throwing it out
there because I don't think he wants to continue to
go through now he's signed up for it and he
got his second contract for it, but I don't think
he wants. You know, the definition of insanity is doing
the same thing over and over again and expecting different results,
(23:26):
and quite frankly, for Joe Burrow, the results are not there.
I mean right now, the Cincinnati Bengals, they're a three
man team comprised of Joe Burrow, Jamar Chase, and t Higgins.
That's it. Trey Hendrickson, he's hurt. Whatever. They have no defense,
(23:48):
they have a horrible O line. They can't consistently run
the ball. They sure sell can't stop the run. Worst
defense in the NFL. Why would you want to continue
to subject yourself to this type of misery and perennial pain,
physical and mental, year in and year out. Don't you
(24:12):
want to win? You came into the NFL fresh off
a national championship at LSU and what some people consider
to be one of the greatest singles season teams in
college football history, this side of the one Miami Hurricanes. Unbelievable,
Jamar Chase, Joe Burrow, Justin Jefferson, Zach Moss, Randy Son.
(24:39):
I mean they had a I mean they were they
were straight defensively not so much. But they and you've
been there for six years of absolute, painstaking misery in Cincinnati.
Don't you deserve to get a chance to see what
it's like to be in a winning culture with a
(25:04):
system that is in place that's gonna put you in
the utmost position to succeed for the rest of your
career and not just become this great quarterback that puts
up fantasy football numbers. But it's never playing in the
month of January. Now, they did make it to the
AFC Championship Game. Actually, excuse me, they did make it
(25:24):
to the Super Bowl four years ago. They did. But
what's happened happened since Joe Burrow's second season the league? Nothing.
It's been four straight years of absolute failure and futility.
So you started off hot, you came in hot, and
now and it's not Joe Burrow's fault. But kid, could
(25:48):
you imagine Joe Burrow as the starting quarterback of the
Seattle Seahawks in twenty twenty six and beyond.
Speaker 3 (25:57):
That'd be a little insane, Not gonna.
Speaker 4 (25:58):
Lie, kid, kid, I mean, as the great Jim Ross
would always say, business is just picked up.
Speaker 1 (26:12):
Could you imagined, and I mean listen, John Schneider made
this Sam Darnold deal very team friendly. They can get
out of it after one year and it won't even
not even come close to hurting the cap. Now you'd
have to make you know, revisions and and and things
(26:34):
to you know, you're gonna get a guy like Joe Burrow.
You're gonna give up draft picks. You're gonna give up
you know, great players, maybe Devin Witherspo. I mean, they're
not you know, let's let's just be honest here. They're
not gonna sit here and take Anthony Bradford. They got enough.
Anthony Bradford's already in Cincinnati. They're gonna want, you know,
(26:56):
some great players there. But man, I mean, man, I'm
just saying if because that, to me said one of
two things he's done in Cincinnati, or he's thinking about
going Andrew Luck and just retiring from this mother and
(27:16):
collecting that cash and being done with it, because he's
not going to take this crap anymore. And quite frankly,
I don't blame him. You're a winner, Joe Burrow, and
you're not getting a chance and you're not put in
position to succeed, but you're a winner. I don't get it.
I really don't get it. So for me, maybe you
(27:37):
want to kick the tires on that one after the
season because I think he's mentally checked out now. I
don't think he wants another I don't think he wants
to spend another minute in Cincinnati. Blame him, But just
think about that. Think about you talk about a dynasty.
We use that word because kid knows this. And I
(28:01):
actually I asked Charles Davis the question that I've asked
a lot of our guests, and I asked the great
Charles Davis, who's doing the game on Sunday on CBS
with Andrew Catalan. I asked him yesterday, what is your
trust level of Joe Burrow to win big playoff games
in January? Charles Davis, who's not like the biggest critic,
(28:21):
he said, five, Kid, what did you say last week?
What did you say? You said higher than that, didn't you?
I believe I did. Yeah. I think you said six. Yeah,
you said six. I said six and a half. Charles
Davis said five. What do you think you're confidence?
Speaker 3 (28:38):
No, it was I said six and a half. You
said six point one or something, and then I said,
go up.
Speaker 1 (28:45):
I said six. Five. Okay, okay, fair enough, fair enough.
Charles Davis said five. And you know what, I think
a lot of the people nationally they feel the same way.
They feel they're about a five with Sam Darnold. You
have a chance to get Joe Burrow. I mean, all
of a sudden, you're talking about a franchise changing quarterback
(29:09):
for the next decade. With this defense and this system
under John Schneider and Mike McDonald, I mean you could
we could basically turn Seattle into the Kansas City Chiefs
of the NFC to where we're in a position to
win the Super Bowl every single year. Obviously for the
(29:31):
Chiefs this year excluded because they're not winning the Super
Bowl this year. Hell, they might not even get to
the playoffs this year. But other than that, would you
take a run winning three out of six Super Bowls
in a span of about six years. I think we
all would sign up for that. I think we all would.
I would do it, and I would love to see
(29:51):
that right there. So Joe Burrow, hey man, we're looking
at you, kid, We're looking at you, bro. And listen, man,
life's about upgrades, right, Life's all about upgrades. Brad Pitt
went from Jennifer Aniston to Angelina Joe Lee. That's what
life's about. Let's get our Angelina Joe Lee here and
(30:12):
Joe Burrow. I'm all for it. Coming up next, the
end of an all time era and your fantasy football questions,
all of them will be answered at noon. Playoffs going on.
Get ready not now, excuse me eleven. We're gonna end
the show at noon. At eleven. We're gonna have Ian's partner,
(30:34):
Ian Richie's partner, Sean Cruising from full time Fantasy with us.
He will answer all your fantasy football questions weekend coming
up at eleven, hitting all fields.
Speaker 5 (30:43):
Coming up next, I have I look forward to tomorrow
with such a positive attitude and so much excitement about
like making that run one more time. But that's the
last time. And I think that's important to say because
the data before me suggests that that's not a permanent thing. Man.
I've been called a lot of stuff, but very rarely
(31:05):
am I called a liar. And I promise you I'm
a man of my word on this one.
Speaker 1 (31:08):
Yeah, it feels like you are taking the integrity aspect
of saying this is my last time. I'm not lying
to you.
Speaker 5 (31:13):
And it's not just you, it's a lot of traveling entertainers.
And I also don't I don't mind the perspective that
other folks have. They're entitled to that. If I could
just use a couple seconds of valuable airtime and say, like, yo,
at least get the closure you need, I'm good with it.
I'll be fine, But I ain't coming back.
Speaker 1 (31:32):
You know what for someone who's a staunch paid critic
for twenty one years, and I'm someone who, as you
know in the ten months that I've been here, I
don't pull punches. And for someone to be on one
side and like I have this initial opinion and perception
of somebody, it's very tough for that person to turn
(31:55):
that opinion around on me, especially one hundred and eighty degrees.
And I want to just want to say thank you,
John Cena, uh, thank you for you know, he he's
a masshole. The masshole like me. We're we're both from
Massachusetts and he went to Springfield College in my hometown.
(32:16):
And the guy is just class personified. And listen. I
didn't like him because he came in after the attitude era,
the era that was the greatest era in the history
of wrestling, Stone Cold, the Rock D Generation, the Generation
X nWo Y two, J Chris Jericho and uh Mankind,
(32:40):
Cactus Jack, Mick Foley and and HBK, Shawn Michaels and
the Click. He came in after all that, and it
was the PG era. But that wasn't because John Cena
wanted it to be the PG era. It was because
that's the way it had to go. And in order
for the WWE to get all those sponsors and averatars,
(33:00):
they had to stop saying We've got two words for you,
suck it. They had to stop all that stuff. All
that had to go away. But John Cena is as
classy of an human being as there will ever be.
And and for those of you forget about wrestling for
a second, there's gonna be an entire not only wing,
(33:24):
but mansion. He'll have his own town when he gets
to that great place up in the sky whenever he's
no longer on this earth. In the present form that
we call life, this guy has granted over seven six
excuse me, six hundred and fifty make a wishes in
his life. And make a wish, as you well know,
(33:45):
are for kids that have terminal diseases like cancer. They
might have a year left, they might have six months left,
they might have three months left, a month left, a
week left, day left, an hour and they want to
see John Cena and he is. He has made that
(34:06):
happen over six hundred and fifty times in his life.
So John Cena, there is an angel on earth and
you are one of them, my man, and I and
I appreciate you. I didn't like you. I you know,
I always. I remember I did an interview one time
when he was getting ready for a WrestleMania main event
versus The Rock, and I was a complete a hole
to him on purpose because I was about The Rock
(34:29):
and Miami and I I and they had some real
life heatback at the time. Kid might remember that they did.
They didn't like each other and they were going at it.
I mean, that was what they call in the wrestling business.
That was a shoot that was real, and then they
became friends and then they're like really great friends now.
But John Cena your class act, and Kid, your thoughts
(34:52):
on the great John Cena after he hangs them up
tomorrow night on NBC Saturday Night's main event against Gunther,
What did what did you what your thoughts in your
life on John Cena?
Speaker 3 (35:02):
When I first saw him, he was different to me.
Speaker 1 (35:05):
He was he caught me off guard.
Speaker 3 (35:07):
Didn't expect that personality from this person, but it grew
on me when I was a fan of wrestling. So
props to him for sticking to his guns and great
basically having an outstanding career and standing on his thoughts
of actually just walking away from it because he's done
it all. So it was great for the time that
I watched wrestling growing up. He was phenomenal. My little
(35:29):
brother was a big fan of his. So it's cool
to see him take a step back and actually get
into something else where there it's movies, acting and all that.
We'll see what how John Cena's career after wrestling unfolds.
But he had a hell of a career.
Speaker 1 (35:45):
No doubt. And but the forget about the entering. It's
the stuff he did outside the ring with the make
a wish that truly puts him in a that that
puts him in a in a place that you can't
even you know, I mean, because hul Cogan was one
of those people you know that did a lot of
make a wish, you know, granted a lot of make
(36:05):
a wish to all those kids in John Cena to
do that, man, you just you're you're on a level that.
I mean, we bow down to him. Tomorrow night, we
pay respect. Probably won't be watching it live, but I'll
check it out the replay on Peacock later on. But
what a career, what a life? And you know he
does he sticks by his principles. Someone asked him kid,
(36:27):
They said, hey, are you gonna have kids? He said, no,
he said, and I don't have an issue with anybody.
He's like, it's just not something that is in it
for me. That's not what you know. Me and my wife,
we don't want to do that. We want to live
our life. And he he does, he stands on his
principles and he's there aren't many role models left in
this life. John Cena is the textbook definition of a
(36:51):
role model. And for that dude to do a one
eighty in my eyes, I mean it's tough. It's tough
for anybody to do an eight degree chain in my eyes,
to do one hundred and eighty degree change. And man,
I'll say this, Vince McMahon knew what he was doing,
making this guy out to take the mantle from Stone
Cold and the Rock. He did it all right. Coming
