Speaker 1 (00:00):
Last night was just indescribable. It was just un effing believable.
And I had to finally get out of the stuffy
press box at the end of the third quarter, and
I'm like, I gotta go down with the real fans.
And I just kind of I stood for the entire
fourth quarter and overtime, and I just I wanted to

(00:23):
feel the game. I wanted to see what it was
like inside that stadium, and and and just just to
capture and and kind of be immersed in the moment.
And congratulations, you deserve this, We deserve this. That that
to me. I don't know if there will be a
better playoff game in January or even the Super Bowl

(00:45):
in February than what we saw last night. So I
am just and and the Seattle Seahawks let me not,
you know, let's not bury the lead here their playoff
bound clinching the playoff spot last night. So many things
to get do in so little time. Thirty to fourteen,

(01:06):
with nine minutes to go in the fourth quarter, the
Hawks had a one point two percent chance to win
the game at that moment. And then Rashid Shiheed to me,
if we're gonna call the American League Championship Series Game
five to Gino Suarez game. Then last night was the

(01:29):
Rashid Shiheed game. He changed everything. And I again, I
since day one when I went on the air here
the day after the Super Bowl between the Eagles and
Chiefs on Monday, February tenth, I'll never forget it. First
day on the air. You never forget your first right
with Christopher Kidd and and even prior to that, for

(01:52):
so many years, I've admired John Schneider and I still
do to this day. Everything he touches seen to turn
to gold. And I question giving up a fourth and
a fifth round pick for Rashid Shaheed. Well, if or
I don't know if you can hear me, do this,
knock on wood. When the Seattle Seahawks hopefully went out

(02:17):
at Carolina a week from Sunday and then in Santa
Clara against Frisco the following Sunday, that Rashid Shahid play
to me will be the seminal moment of the Seahawks
regular season. Emphasis on regular because we got some fun

(02:41):
coming up in January. But all I can say is this,
and believe you me, I was getting the text and
I was see yup, Sam Darnold, you know, and those
interceptions those were pathetic. Those were I don't care if
they were disguising man coverage and dropping in zone. The

(03:04):
one of Josh Wallace, who I'd never even heard of,
and then Kobe Holmes a d tackle, a d N
getting a pick there, and at that point you're like,
it's over. It's over. There's no way they're coming back.
And somehow, some way, the resolve, the resilience in this

(03:26):
team just shows you why last night. Now we can
look at one thing and I want to say this,
I'm so happy. It was great to be there to
feel that energy amongst the twelves last night. But I
will say that Sam Darnold, he won a big game,

(03:46):
and he did it against an NFC playoff team and
the Seahawks' biggest rival, and he slayed the Blue Dragon.
He was awful in regulation, but in overtime he needed
to be mister perfect rest in peace, Kurt Heading, and
he was. He threw four passes and they all needed

(04:09):
to be on the money, including to Cooper Cup who
had to atone for the fumble before halftime as he
was crossing the ten yard line. So how do you
look at this right now? Obviously I've said it, and
I'm the one who came up with this. The truest
meritocracy in life is the scoreboard after the game is over.

(04:33):
So Seahawks scoreboard. That's all that matters. But this is
what we do. So a month ago after Sam Darnold
threw not one, not two, not three, but four interceptions,
but the Hawks had a chance to win it on
a sixty one yard field goal attempt by Jason Myers
and he missed it. It's okay, Jaymi is one of

(04:55):
the best in the business. You know, this side of
Brandon Aubrey, don't have any fault. Wasn't his fault. You
shouldn't even been put in that position. But the Hawks,
to me, I came away from that game saying that
the Hawks, I think are the better team after last night,

(05:16):
I have to tell you, and this is the great
thing about sports, sometimes the better team does not win.
And I think, and I will tell you right now,
I'll go on public record, I do not want to
see the La Rams in January. I do not want
to see that team again. They were the first team

(05:36):
in NFL history. I mean, we're talking forever. Okay, with
five hundred yards in a plus three turnover differential to lose.
Prior to last night, every team with five hundred yards
of offense in a plus three turnover differential, we're ninety

(05:58):
three and zero. I do not want to see that
team again. Oh, by the way, let's not forget mister
Taco Bell. Devonte Adams was not playing last night. I'll
tell you, and I'll say right now, I do not
want to see that team again, and hopefully we won't.
We won't because the trilogy. I just don't want to

(06:24):
see the Rams. Hey, give me the Packers, the Bears,
the Lions, the Eagles, you name it. Even the forty
nine Ers, who also you know the I'm not I'm
mostly not worried about them because the forty nine ers defense,
they can't get to the quarterback. And I think the
Hawks will take care of business the next two weeks
and clinch the number one overall scene and get home

(06:46):
field advantage and get the buy. I don't want to
see the Rams again, because I'll tell you right now.
To quote my old boss Paul Hayman from ECW, this
isn't a prediction, it's a spoil I don't see the
Seahawks beating the Rams in a rematch in the NFC

(07:09):
Championship game, and we know more than likely hopefully it
would be here in Seattle. I don't want that team again,
No way, no effing way. Okay, that's it. Now, let's
get to the good things. Uh oh well, let me
let me just say one more thing about the Rams.
They killed the Seahawks last night. In thirteen personnel, one back,

(07:30):
three tight ends, one wide receiver. Rams in the middle
of the field. Torched Seattle all night long. Seventeen receptions,
three hundred and six yards and two touchdowns in the
middle of the field last night. It was like backyard football.
Pooka Nakua, Wow, Wow, Poka Nakua contract coming up after

(07:52):
this season, up for an extension. You know what. He
had a lot of controversy throughout the week, you know,
the livestream video, the anti Semitic gesture, the apology and
all that. Puka Aku is like, oh really, Jsn's the
best receiver in the NFL. Hold my beer, hold my beer.

(08:12):
Yeah yeah. I was right there in that end zone
last night and overtime, right there on that touchdown. And
here's another thing that and we can all criticize Sam Donald.
In the end, Donald came through when the Hawks need
him the most. My question forget about Sam Donald for
a second. How were Rams receivers in tight ends? Davis Allen, Mumpfield,

(08:44):
Cunaro Mumpfield. It's like, I don't want to sound like
an owl here, who who? These guys were wide open
all night long? And for the second time this year
the Rams. The Hawks did not sack Matthew Stafford once

(09:06):
game one, zero sacks last night zero sacks. Hey, you
take the win, you get out of Dodge, and you
hope that you take care of business and win the
NFC West Division and the one seed, which the Hawks
now after last night's win to get the one seed,

(09:27):
have a forty eight chance to get the one seed
after the win last night in the NFC. I don't
want to see that team again, No way, no way,
no how. I'm like Apollo Creed at the end of
Rocky One. Ain't gonna be no rematch, And I don't
want to rematch against that team because that team they
took it. I mean that game last night, and yeah,

(09:52):
the Hawks turned the ball over twice. Sam Darnold threw
a pick six, but he does this in big games.
He came through last night. But if that overtime last
night doesn't go the way that we all wanted it
to and end the way that it did, what's the

(10:12):
narrative today. Sam Darnold can't win a big game. He
just can't do it. He can't win a big game.
He'll never win a big game. So he got that
monkey off of his back last night, all right. I
mean I was King Kong right and he got it
off his back. But man, whoa wow. The Rams they

(10:36):
are dangerous, they are lethal, and it's like when I'm
watching the Hawks and everything that they were able to
accomplish last night, the Kenny Walker touched down and the
Rashichi head punt return. But for the Rams, it seemed
like the Rams had a cheat code all night long.

(10:56):
Again in thirteen personnel, seventeen RECs, three hundred and six yards,
two touchdowns in the middle of the field, Matthew Stafford
four one hundred and fifty seven passing yards, MVP MVP MVP,
no doubt about it, right, And there was an MVP
candidate in the audience last night by the name of

(11:17):
cal Raley. He was there, so you take the win.
I'm elated. It's one of those things. And and kind
of you know, when the college football playoff rankings selection
show came out and like, oh man, you gotta be
so Siah Knees made it in. Yeah, using the playoffs,
I'm like, you know what, I haven't been I just

(11:41):
was relieved and exhausted. And that's how I feel today
about the Hawks. I'm relieved and exhausted. And wow, what
what an unbelievable game last night. I mean, it over delivered.
And that's the thing. With nine minutes, it's to go,
not down fourteen, down sixteen. And then how about Zach

(12:06):
Charbonay just you know, think of the plays dead on
on the uh what ended up being the game tying
touchdown in the fourth quarter. He just picks up the
ball and they say that was a backwards lateral and
You're like what And then you saw the replay. Ref's
got it right. They got it right. But goes to

(12:29):
show you that sometimes it's better to be lucky than good,
and that was luck at that point last night, tied
the game. And then I'm like wow, and for anybody,
and I mean anybody to question Mike McDonald, I'm going
for the two point conversion? Are you serious? In overtime
last night? Are you serious? Did you want to let

(12:54):
number nine? You want to let the MVP who just
drew for nearly five hundred yards on your asses and
was getting guys wide open last night? You want to
let him back on the field. No way I could
have taken. I would have. It would have been heartbreaking.
I would have I could have taken if the two
point conversion and over time to Eric Sobert did not

(13:17):
go through. But you had to go for it at
that point. The game had to end one way or another.
But I will say this, and I said it a
month ago. I felt like the Hawks were the better
team coming out of the game in LA. After last night,
I feel like the Rams are the better team. And

(13:38):
sometimes in life, the best team, the better team doesn't
always win, and that's all that matters. We've seen it
and seen it in time again. If the two thousand
and seven New York Giants play the eighteen and zero
undefeated New England Patriots fifty times, the Pats with Tom Brady,

(13:59):
Randy wes Welker, the late great Junior Seou, Mike Vrabel,
their current coach. They win that game forty nine times.
But on that one Sunday in Glendale, Arizona in Super
Bowl forty two, the Giants were better and last night
the Hawks were better. Now, I don't think it's that

(14:19):
kind of disparity. I think they're evenly matched. These are
definitely the two best teams in the NFL, no doubt
about it. Okay, this is a Maybach in a Bugatti,
and no doubt. I'm Denver whoever you know, like you
want to put their Jackson Jacksonville, Please you know whoever else?

(14:40):
Green Bay Chicago. They're distant, distant thirds Seahawks and Rams.
I actually probably would say right now if if I
look at and I don't do power rankings, but if
I had to do the power rankings today, obviously with
last night's win, Seahawks won Rams two. Believe it or not,

(15:02):
gonna go San Francisco forty nine ers at three. I
think the three teams in the West Division of the
NFC are the best in the NFL. That's how stacked
this division is. It's unfreaking believable, unreal. So want to
get your thoughts on last night. Don't forget you can
go to the free I Art radio app. Go ahead,

(15:25):
rant away. If you gotta leave multiple ones, fine the
free iHeart radio app ninety three to three k j R.
Hit the microphone icon button and we're gonna give away
a platter of bores Head sandwiches coming up at noon.
We'll open up the phone lines at noon too. But
if you can't call that around then, and you just
want to give if you were there last night, even
if you weren't there last night, I want to hear

(15:46):
how you felt about last night's game. And that was uh,
that was unbelievable, unfreaking I mean, I don't just like
you're like, did that really just happen? Was I did? I?
Was I here for this game and yet it was
now I didn't get to hear the broadcast because I
was at the game. And I will say this man,

(16:12):
just from listening to the montage that kid put together
to being in the show, I'm who am I to
say it? Because he's the goat al Michaels dog. Yeah,
you might want to think about retirement on that that
play on the on the JSN touchdown in overtime, he

(16:34):
didn't even say touchdown JSN he didn't even say touchdown.
I mean, man, wow, so uh wow. I'm glad I
didn't get to hear the broadcast, although I would have
loved to hear my guy Kirk Kurbstreet, who I got
to reconnected with last night for the first time in
a long time after the game. And but congratulations Seattle,

(16:55):
PNW wear it and number one seed right now on
the NFC. Now, just one more thing too, and we'll
get to that coming up on the other side. How
much does last night's win mean? But how much can
it be taken away? We'll get to that coming up next.

(17:18):
And we'll talk to Steve Weisch, who covered the game
last night for the NFL Network. I think he just
landed in Lax about a half hour ago, maybe forty
five minutes to an hour ago. We'll talk to him
at eleven Hot Take Friday. Coming off the Hawks big
win last night. Congrat Seattle. Christopher Kidd will get his
thoughts on the game coming up next MJ in the

(17:39):
midday on a Hot Take Friday. You should never perform
any song live other than the Cult of Personality because
that national anthem last night, that was rough. That was rough.
That I was Kidd'll know this reference. Kid, I was

(18:02):
missing Fergie at the NBA All Star Game from like
like a decade ago.

Speaker 2 (18:07):
Yeah, that was that was a rough one when you
think about it.

Speaker 3 (18:10):
But she got through it. She got through it even
though I was laughing at her. She became a meeting
for next several years, so yeah.

Speaker 1 (18:16):
I know, and her career had already kind of gone
down prior to that, and then after that it was
like over her husband jot her ex husband Josh dou
Hammil left her. And I always like Fergie. I thought
she was very talented, all right. But I don't know
if they performed Cult of Personality at halftime, if anybody,
because I, you know, I was just sort of I
didn't even paying attention to halftime show last night. Don't

(18:39):
ever perform the national anthem, matter of fact, only perform
the CM punk song forever from now on. That's it, Okay.
Before we get to Christopher Kid's thoughts, Steve Wisch coming
up Hot Take Friday, your chance to win a platter
of borse hit sandwiches. We're gonna open up the phones
at noon because we are the station for the fans.
We want to hear from you. We're not as stuffy

(19:00):
press box. We want to hear from you. We know
you've got to be excited as hell. Wow in terms
of regular season games. And I'm gonna throw this out
there too for hot take or great take Friday, because
it should be a great take because of what happened
last night and everybody, everybody went home happy unless you
were a Rams fan. Where does that game rank among

(19:22):
all time Seattle Seahawks regular season games in your lifetime?
All of you out there, where does that? I remember?
Remember the one on Monday night where Pete Carroll was
waiting for the replay and then he gave a yeah.
That was I mean that yeah? Against Green Bay and
Aaron Rodgers. It was just I don't know, I felt

(19:44):
like I wasn't a big fan of that one. But
where does where does that rank for you amongst regular
season games in Seattle Seahawks' history? Please let us know. Okay,
before we get it's a kid, all I'm gonna say
is this, and I do believe that this team will

(20:06):
win out, but if they don't and there's a slip up,
won't be in Carolina, could be in Santa Clara in
two weeks from Sunday. If there is a slip up,
then last night's game becomes a moot point. Okay, last

(20:26):
night's game is Ndy Chavez is catching Game seven of
the two thousand and six a NLCS for the Mets.
It gets wiped away because the Mets lost the game,
right you know, I mean as great of a moment
as Gino Suarez was hitting that Grand Slam in ALCS
Game five, they lost Game six and seven in Toronto,

(20:48):
so it sort of becomes a footnote like the twenty
sixteen Golden State Warriors the two thousand and one Seattle Mariners.
So gotta take care of it. To make last night's
game even more impactful on this team season and where
they're gonna be seated in January. You have to take

(21:11):
care of the next two games at Carolina and at Frisco.
Have to do that, Okay, no doubt about that, kid.
Before we know, I gotta get your thoughts. Take as
long as you want. You're pretty sir.

Speaker 3 (21:29):
Last night real quick, I'll just say John Schneider should
be given the Executive Award right now.

Speaker 2 (21:35):
If you think about it.

Speaker 3 (21:36):
Every player that he brought in had an impactful moment
last night. Rashichi heat who he traded for. He changed
the game if he doesn't return that punt return to
have that punt return for a touchdown out on the
Seahawks win. I think a lot of people probably feel
that way. Yep, but he is clearly affecting the game.
He did it not once, but he's done it twice
this season special teams. He is huge. He might not

(21:59):
have had the receptions. He did have one run, one
carry for thirty plus yards. But Rashichi, he check DeMarcus
Lawrence coming up with the big third down, knocking the
ball down and getting that acquisition when you needed him
to make a big play, he did it. Obviously, no
surprise here, Cooper cup the guy had an incredible catch
on the sideline on third and long, so he checks.

(22:20):
And after you mentioned MJ he fumbled the rock. He
fumbled the rock going into half that could have gotten
the Seahawks a lead. They get the ball back. Who
knows how that plays out? Sam Donald? Sam Donald did
not play his best football, but at the end he
might have played his best game.

Speaker 2 (22:38):
Ever, how does that sound?

Speaker 1 (22:39):
Well? Set? Very well set? He did? He did? And
then and you know the narrative every you know they
were when it was thirty to fourteen with nine minutes
to go. You know, all the sports writers they are,
their columns were done. It was good. And then Rashichi
he changed everything. And then they needed the two point conversion,
and then and then Sam Darnold getting them to have

(23:05):
the game tying touchdown, and then obviously the Zach Sharpen
a weird two point conversion there. How that happened, It's
just everything just went their way. But I have to
tell you, kid, you were Hey. As they say in
the gambling world, and a lot of you know, the
sharp gamblers say this because it happens, you can have

(23:26):
the right side and lose just because a bunch of
ish happened. You had the right side last night, my friend,
I did pick the Seahawks. I pushed. I got it
at minus one. I don't know how I got it
at one. It wasn't one and a half. So I pushed.
Best push I've ever had in my life. Well that's
non sexual. But that being said, you had the right

(23:50):
side last night. The Rams were the better team.

Speaker 2 (23:52):
Hey, it's football.

Speaker 3 (23:53):
You need a little luck sometimes, and for this team
to win the Super Bowl, they need a little luck
and this is part of it, and that's huge for
him because they have the defense. I think Sam Donald,
if he can just eliminate turnovers, which is challenging to do,
but I think there's a way to do it, and
it's play action because in the play action pass he
threw two touchdowns.

Speaker 2 (24:13):
He looked very good in play action.

Speaker 3 (24:15):
Get him on bootlegs, get him out moving because he
can throw with the best of best of them on
the run.

Speaker 1 (24:20):
But when you know, and by the way, kid, you
know who else last night, no one's mentioned. I haven't mentioned.
You haven't mentioned. If we're gonna give Sam Donald his props,
I hate saying flowers, let's also say because this guy
was pretty horrific in the first half. Clint Kubiak got
better as the game went, And that play on the
two point game winning conversion to Eric Saubert was He's

(24:44):
wide open, wide open. I mean, that was the call.
And I mean even on the on the Barner touchdown
by Donald, that was a bad throw. That was a
great catch by Barner. That was a bad throw by Donald.
He's over through him, but he was wide open and
he caught it. So all in all, all that matters

(25:05):
in sports scoreboard. That's it all right. Coming up next,
what does Chucky think about somebody on the Seahawks winning
a major award? John Gruden, We'll get to that. Steve Weisch,
NFL Network MJ and the Midday MJ. In the Midday,
Steve Weish from NFL Network was in the house last night.

(25:27):
Text line just said that, which I was unaware of,
so I didn't see it, that Living Color did perform
Cult of Personality last night at halftime. That they did,
and they said it was amazing good good, because that'll
make up for that. That'll if they said one hundred
percent play Cult of Personality at halftime and it ruled
good because the national anthem, well, let's just say it.

(25:50):
It was nothing. Hey, MJ is rashichih the new Devin Hester.
Well let me give you, let me give you my
former school made it to you. Let me let me
give you a leak. Of course, So not so fast,
my friend, we're talking about the goat there. Okay, number four,
that's so fast, my friend, hold on, just hold on there.

(26:10):
John Gruden is a fan of Nick Emon Worrie. Here
we go.

Speaker 4 (26:16):
You could tell I love Seattle's defense they have a
rookie playing number three who is built like kJ Wright.
If you're a Seahawk fan, it looks like he's like
six foot four and he runs like the speeding bullet
Earl Thomas. I mean, this guy's name is Nick emon Worry.
He's from South Carolina. He runs four to three and

(26:38):
you see that on tape. He's on the line of scrimmage.
They hand the ball to Jonathan Taylor away. He chases
it down twice. He's on the line of scrimmage. He's
bluffing the blitz. He reads out of it. On a
dig route, he knocks the guy that's incomplete. They run
a screen pass. He takes on the guard, gets rid
of him and then makes the tackle.

Speaker 1 (26:59):
Emon Worry. He's gotta win the Rookie of the Year.

Speaker 4 (27:02):
Sixty tackles, three and a half tackles for lost, two sacks,
a pick. He got hurt early in the year. I
love this guy number three. Then it goes back to
Snyder the GM. What the hell where does he find
these guys? But Emo where he can play big nickel
dime linebacker. He can play safety. He's a badass.

Speaker 1 (27:22):
I co signed. I agree, got a little hurt last night.
But I agree, kid, how much time we got? All right,
We'll get to that coming up next with Steve Wish.
Why and how were these rams, receivers and tight ends
wide open all night long? How did that happen? That's

(27:43):
not at Sam Darnold. That's a defensive problem. So Mike
McDonald needs to shore that up and plug that hole
real quick. I did not like that last night, wide
open all night long. It was unbelievable. Steve Wesh NFL
Network Hot Take Friday, your chance to win a platter,
Bores said, sandwiches go to ninety three. Excuse me, go

(28:04):
to free iHeartRadio app. Look for ninety three to three
kjar hit the microphone icon button, rant away. We'll take
your calls at noon with Christopher Kidson Hebby Holidays.
