Speaker 1 (00:00):
I don't under I just don't understand why they want
to do sort of construction during morning rush hour traffic
on Alaska Way over by the pier.

Speaker 2 (00:14):
Why they do it in morning rush hour?

Speaker 1 (00:16):
The busiest time of the day is morning rush hour
and afternoon rush hour. Why they decide to do it then?
I don't get it. But every day it's like, uh, oh,
I see a bunch of break lights and it's got
to condense down into one lane. So that's what they're doing.
I don't understand it. I just don't get it. Can't

(00:38):
you do that like right around now from now until
two when there's not as many people on the road.
Is this normal here, Christopher Kidd? Is this something that
they that's done a lot? Welcome to Seattle.

Speaker 3 (00:50):
Why I don't care about what time you have to
be at work, None of that matters.

Speaker 4 (00:56):
It's just when it's convenient to them.

Speaker 3 (00:58):
Apparently always we need to be somewhere, which is very inconvenient.

Speaker 4 (01:03):
That's annoying.

Speaker 2 (01:04):
It's been going on now for about.

Speaker 4 (01:06):
Oh don't you worry this project will last for five years?

Speaker 2 (01:10):
Oh? Please don't say so.

Speaker 4 (01:11):
No, I'm so serious. These projects take forever.

Speaker 3 (01:15):
I feel like They've been working on this I five
thing near Tuckwilla in the South Sound, south Seattle, that
is south area for like twenty years, same construction.

Speaker 4 (01:26):
It hasn't memories, this.

Speaker 2 (01:27):
Is this just is just around one light in particular.

Speaker 4 (01:30):
Don't worry, it'll take about too.

Speaker 3 (01:33):
It's so annoying they take so long to get things
done here, and I don't know why. I never really
cared to look it up. I'm sure I can find
out why. But it's very annoying. Very you would think, Oh,
it's twenty twenty seven, it should be done. Are you
kidding me, it's still being worked on. Yeah, wellcome to
Seattle Market, yeah, book no, Washington, Yeah no, I'm noticing that.

Speaker 1 (01:53):
It's just like usually you started to you started to
kind of just do things where you would do it where.
All right, let's do it where there's not a lot
of traffic on the road.

Speaker 4 (02:04):
We're not No, we're gonna do at five pm on
a Friday.

Speaker 5 (02:06):
All right?

Speaker 1 (02:07):
Right?

Speaker 2 (02:08):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (02:09):
Oh man, Jesus, this might set off the text line,
so be prepared.

Speaker 2 (02:15):
You're not the only one if you're going through it.

Speaker 1 (02:17):
I feel you, I feel you, I understand, I really
really feel you.

Speaker 2 (02:23):
Yeah, they from the seven to five seven.

Speaker 1 (02:25):
Welcome to Seattle, where they don't do anything logical.

Speaker 2 (02:29):
Yes, so there is that.

Speaker 1 (02:33):
Here's another thing too, Tell me where you've heard this before,
even though I'm new Seattle, Crackett have fired their head coach.

Speaker 2 (02:43):
Nope, wasn't Haxed all this time?

Speaker 1 (02:46):
It's you know, it's now it's stand by Osma, third
time in four years. They're looking for a new coach,
third time in four years.

Speaker 2 (02:57):
So I like it.

Speaker 1 (03:02):
I like the fact that ownership will not tolerate mediocrity.
That to me is a good thing, unlike another organization
that plays at T Mobile Park eighty one times a year.
But man, how many times are we gonna do this?
How many times? I mean, this is a lot. You

(03:26):
know Dave haxtell Gone he was the inaugural head coach,
and Bilesma. It's just like this is continues. I'm seeing
a tread near seeing a trend. And here's the thing.
Now you're looking for your third coach in four years,

(03:47):
so you better get it right this time, you better
do it.

Speaker 2 (03:52):
It's this is now you're kind of.

Speaker 1 (03:55):
In that really important time in franchise history that it
really needs to turn around. In the right way. It's
got to do it.

Speaker 2 (04:06):
Now.

Speaker 1 (04:07):
Obviously, coaching is something that it's important. I think of
all the sports, in the team sports, the team sports,
I think that a baseball manager, I would actually say,

(04:32):
you know what, I'm actually now I'm contemplating this. I'm
saying a baseball manager is the least important. Yeah, you
got to make lineup changes, and you have to you know,
know when to pull your starter and go to your
bullpen and all that. But I would say that's probably
just yeah, that is to me the least important.

Speaker 2 (04:53):
But now we're going on a third coach in four years.
Four years.

Speaker 1 (04:58):
Okay, you've had four seasons and the go only on
the fifth season, but it's three coaches in four years.
So that's not good. And when are you gonna get
this right? You better get it right the next time. Now,
I've always looked at and I think the one unfair

(05:18):
team of an expansion team is the Las Vegas Golden
the Lost Golden the Las Vegas well they have those
ugly golden uniforms. Well they are the Las Vegas VGK.
That's right, they're the Vegas Golden Knights. The ugliest uniforms
and pro Sports. They VGK, but they won a Stanley

(05:40):
Cup and in not long into their history. So now
everybody's gonna look at they were founded in twenty seventeen
as an expansion team, okay, and they they win a
Stanley Cup early in their franchise back in twenty twenty three.

(06:01):
Bruce Cassidy, former Bruins coaches, their head coach. And right
now they're a team that looks like they could win
it again. So everyone's gonna look at VGK, and everyone's
gonna say, well, they got it done.

Speaker 2 (06:18):
Why can't you get it done? Tell me why? Now?

Speaker 3 (06:22):
I know.

Speaker 1 (06:24):
That the Krakens started four years after VGK did, but
Vegas won a Stanley Cup in their sixth season. Six
years it took them to win a Stanley Cup. They
got the right coach and they are off and running.
Jack Eichel, here we go. So if I'm the Kraken

(06:48):
and I'm looking at this right now, everything that's going on.

Speaker 2 (06:53):
Ron Francis is promoted. We know that, But what is.

Speaker 1 (07:00):
What's the next move to be able to kind of
even though Vegas is an anomaly, it's an aberration, they
should also be a template because they did something right
in the first six years that this franchise has not done.
They're making the playoffs there, don't look just like a
one hit wonder that was a fluke. They completely, you know,

(07:24):
have gotten it right and they look like they can
make another run at Lord Stanley Cup. Again, what can
we do here in Seattle that they're doing right? So
for me, this is something that I'm going to be
watching with a stern eye. And there's going to be

(07:45):
you know, Jason Botterol is going to be taking over
now as the gm is. Ron Francis has moved to
the President of Hockey Operations, so they promote Ron Francis.

Speaker 2 (07:57):
And let's see what this team can do.

Speaker 1 (08:00):
And like, I like the fact that they're not just
settling for mediocrity. I love that part, love that part,
but I gotta see results and I think the fans
here wanting to see results as well.

Speaker 2 (08:15):
Now.

Speaker 1 (08:16):
One of the good things that they have done, they're
coming out with something new next year for season ticket
holders where you get twenty five percent off concessions including alcohol.
That who does that? Nobody does that. The Cracking are
doing that next year, which is tremendous. And the one
thing that you know, the capacity at CPA Climate Pledgerina

(08:40):
will be filled.

Speaker 2 (08:43):
Every single game for the Kraken.

Speaker 1 (08:48):
You know that doesn't matter if the Edmonton Oilers are
coming in here with the biggest stars in the world,
or we're getting a garbage team to come in here.

Speaker 2 (09:00):
There will always be.

Speaker 1 (09:03):
That arena will be filled and you can imagine what
it'll be like when a certain other team comes back
to this arena. Seventeen one hundred and fifty one will
be at capacity every single game. I just want to
I want to know the plan here. And there's going
to be a press conference coming up with Ron Francis
and they're going to talk about what they're gonna do.

Speaker 2 (09:24):
I have some suggestions. I did my research.

Speaker 1 (09:27):
Let me give you someone that is a candidate for
another job right now, and he spent his previous three
years here in Seattle as an assistant for both Dave
Haxtell and Dan Bilsma, Jay Leach. Jay Leach was here
in Seattle for three years as an assistant the first

(09:48):
three years of the Kraken, went back to Boston where
he was a coach in that franchise, coaching the Providence Bruins,
who was an assistant this year on that.

Speaker 2 (09:58):
Staff they all got let go.

Speaker 1 (10:00):
Jay Leach to me, should be at the front of
the line of a guy that you're looking at to
be the next head coach of the Kraken. I can
tell you when I was in Boston working for n Essen,
which owns the Bruins, so I got a little familiar
with Jay Leach when he was coach of the Providence
Bruins back then.

Speaker 2 (10:22):
He did a remarkable job.

Speaker 1 (10:23):
I think he's ready, willing and able and a guy
that can come in and be successful from day one.
Jay Leach, Let me throw another guy out there at you.
I even went to the college ranks. David Carl University
of Denver head coach, had success there.

Speaker 2 (10:44):
A guy that.

Speaker 1 (10:47):
I think could have success on the NHL level i'd
beat Mike. Jay Leach is my Tyler Warren Colston Lovelin, Okay,
David Carl's more my Tyler Booker to make a seat
Seahawks eighteenth pick draft reference. Another guy college ranks, huge success,
Boston University. J Pendolfo another guy you know. Will he

(11:12):
succeed in the NHL level? I don't know, but I
could see him doing it. Speaking of a former college coach,
a guy who's been an assistant. He's an assistant now
in Pittsburgh with the Penguins, or at least was David Quinn.
One more guy, and the miners in the HL level,
Marco Sturm, Marco Sterm. So those are my five candidates

(11:33):
to replace Dan Biosma. Biosma zero to twelve in the
second of back to back games. And I've never seen
a team and I'm not being hyperbolic in suffering from
recency bias. I've never seen a team not capitalized in
more power plays than the Seattle Kraken under Dan Biosma

(11:58):
this past season. Now, I agree with the move, but
I also I want to see you to get it
right and those seventeen and fifty one pay their hard
earned money that they deserve a winner. And now I'm
a part of this now, so we deserve a winner,
and we deserve a consistent winner. So I like the

(12:20):
fact that they're trying to get it right and they're
not doing like another franchise here in Seattle where they're
just gonna stay status quo.

Speaker 2 (12:27):
They're gonna spend.

Speaker 1 (12:28):
Ten million dollars in the offseason, and a thirty seven
year old Donovan Solano. Oh, someone told me this. I've
got a perfect nickname for Rowdy toe Lez.

Speaker 6 (12:41):
Oh.

Speaker 1 (12:41):
Someone told me this the other day. Hold on, I've
got it, so Rowdy t Lez. You spend you spend
that on Rowdy toe Lez A guy who looks like
you should be playing in the Sunday Slow Pitch. Oh,
Rowdy toe Lez is the Samuel Tarley of pro sports.

(13:03):
Who's Samwell Tarley? Google that character from Game of Thrones.
That's Rowdy Telez sam Well Tarley. From now on, I'm
gonna start calling him Samwell Tarlei te Lez. That's my
new nickname for Rowdy Telez. Someone brought this to my
attention a couple of days ago, and I said, oh my.

Speaker 2 (13:25):
He said, no, we've called him.

Speaker 1 (13:26):
He's been let People back on the East Coast have
called him Samuel Tarley for years.

Speaker 2 (13:32):
He's the Samuel Tarley of pro sports.

Speaker 1 (13:34):
So, not to get off track here, I think the
Kraken are gonna make some moves in this offseason. Can
they get Mitch Marner, who's the number one unrestricted free
agent from the Toronto Maple Leafs?

Speaker 2 (13:45):
I hope.

Speaker 1 (13:46):
So if not, how about Nick Lai Eelers. They're gonna
make moves, and you make moves by doing right things.
So I'm hoping that the next moves they make are
the right ones. And Jason Botterol is gonna do the
right thing and he's gonna get this thing going because

(14:07):
you're going into year five right now with your third
head coach. And oh, by the way, you're gonna be
paying three coaches at the same time, which isn't exactly
something I would imagine a lot of ownership groups like
to do. So all I ask please get it right.
But there you go. Remember who said it first, Mark

(14:27):
the Ted Christopher kid. Let me repeat myself. My replacement
for Dan Bilzma today on Tuesday, April twenty second, twenty
twenty five is former Cracking assistant coach Jay Leach.

Speaker 2 (14:45):
He is my number one pick.

Speaker 1 (14:48):
He is the cam Ward of who I want to
be the next Kraken head coach.

Speaker 2 (14:56):
Jay Leach.

Speaker 1 (14:58):
Hope you're listening, Jason Bottle rolling Ron Francis, because I
know hockey. I grew up in the northeast. Ron Francis.
You know he's a legend up there. His jersey's still
hanging at the top of the Excel Center where Yukon
Basketball play some of their games both men and women,
formerly known as the Hartford Civic Center where they had

(15:19):
this franchise called the Whalers back in the day. Jay Leach,
then I'll throw Pandolfo, David Carl, David Quinn, and Marco
Sturm in there as well. And maybe you want a
veteran head coach. I'm not a post to it, but
I tell you right now, I'm gonna give you one name.

(15:39):
This is my Tedaroah McMillan. Do not hire this guy
because he has regular season success and he can't win
the postseason. Do not hire Monty Jim Montgomery. Please don't
hire Jim Montgomery. We'll talk to Mike Benton coming up
at the top of the hour. So there you go.

Speaker 2 (15:56):
I come with you.

Speaker 1 (15:57):
I not only talk about what's going on with the Kraken,
but I'm gonna come at you with solutions to the problem.
And there's some problems there. Speaking of problems, the text
line four two five, Chris is one hundred percent right.
Ws dot is a nightmare, just waiting until they shut
down all of I five for an entire weekend.

Speaker 2 (16:18):
The worst shut the front door. Are you serious?

Speaker 3 (16:22):
Every now and then there'll be an update saying, hey,
this entire freeway is shut down, find another route. Excuse me, Yeah,
it's it's yeah exactly. I wish we had a camera
on your face. The disappointment, the shock and awe of
WSDOT shutting down a highway. Wow, it gets nasty out here,

(16:45):
especially in the summer, Like they will shut down a
highway from ten pm till six am.

Speaker 2 (16:50):
I don't have a problem with that part, though, Well.

Speaker 3 (16:52):
Don't get caught out on you know, a two while
up or visiting someone, because you'll be like, oh, shoot,
I forgot. So it does become like, oh, I guess
I would be going out there this weekend.

Speaker 1 (17:00):
Okay, ten pm to six ams is not terrible, don't
even no, No, that's all. It would probably prefera will
be ten pm to five am because six am the
the morning commute starts. How about this one, Joel here, Mark,
if you leave fifty four minutes earlier, you'll say fifty
four percent of your gas and you'll actually doing the
radio fans of favor? Is that a is that a
backhanded compliment or is that a shot at me? What

(17:22):
is that he's saying that to show up earlier.

Speaker 2 (17:26):
I don't. I don't get that I.

Speaker 1 (17:31):
Judging from his other text, No, I don't think that's
a compliment. Okay, fair enough, you got your you got
your star for attention text for the day. Look up
big Bertha MJ. You probably know about the Big Dig
in Boston. Same same. Oh yeah, it took Boston thirty
five fricking years to get the Big Dig fixed and

(17:51):
it still hasn't, has it ever? Oh oh, you're welcome,
by the way, don't worry, we'll play that eleven forty four.
You're well welcome. Last night, uh red hot, white hot.
You're welcome for my pick against my favorite team, the
New York Knicks. I told you to take the Pistons
plus six and a half. Didn't even need the points

(18:14):
you should. I even said, if you're feeling frisky, take
them on the money line.

Speaker 2 (18:17):
You're welcome.

Speaker 1 (18:19):
That's why I always say bet it now, thank me later.
You're welcome. Thank you for acknowledging that two oh six
ending in two four. Thank you for acknowledging that. How
about this, do you expect the workers to work a
four hour day?

Speaker 2 (18:36):
No?

Speaker 1 (18:37):
I just wish the workers would I think there you
don't want to do things during morning rush hour commute.

Speaker 2 (18:44):
That's all I'm saying.

Speaker 1 (18:46):
Welcome to Seattle from the seven five seven, where they
don't do anything logical. Okay, hmm, well I'm gonna try
to bring some logic back to Seattle. I'm gonna try
to do that and the way that. Uh oh, how
about this. Never forget when Michigan State came to Motlake
for a sold out game in ws DOT had two

(19:08):
freeways shut down. Wow, the fifty four is a knock
at Jerry saying when them, I know it is, I know,
but I thought he was also taking a shot at me.
I knew great coaching choices, Mark, No retreads wanted for
the Kraken.

Speaker 2 (19:24):
Thank you. Listen.

Speaker 1 (19:25):
I come prepared. I come prepared. So it is what
it is. And I can guarantee you you're gonna get
more other names out there that are gonna be more
familiar with.

Speaker 2 (19:40):
I want to give you some fresh names. I don't
want retreads.

Speaker 1 (19:44):
Don't give me you know, like all these guys Jim
Montgomery and these guys that have been completely retread and
recycled over and over and over again. Tortorella, stop, stop stop,
let's go fresh. Team's fairly new. Still, let's go fresh.

(20:06):
I want Jay Leach. He already knows what Seattle's like.
He was here for three years. Let's bring him in
as the next head coach of the crack. And that's
what I say. I'm the one who called it. So
if it happens, you know where you heard it first. Uh? Yes,
the mayor just texted me fifty four percent, the Jerry

(20:26):
Depoto joke that never dies.

Speaker 2 (20:28):
Christian, have that sound right, Aaron Handy ready?

Speaker 7 (20:31):
Go?

Speaker 2 (20:31):
Yes, do you have the fifty four percent? Ready? Do
you have that SoundBite?

Speaker 7 (20:35):
Ready?

Speaker 1 (20:35):
No?

Speaker 4 (20:36):
I have the other one.

Speaker 2 (20:37):
Oh you have the other one?

Speaker 3 (20:40):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (20:40):
Yeah, we know that one. We always want that one
on standby too. Hey, get we want that fifty four
percent when we come back to that was a good one,
even if it was a shot at me. I don't mind.
It's okay, it's okay, it's it's totally fine.

Speaker 2 (20:56):
That is too funny. That's too funny.

Speaker 1 (20:59):
Mikey Betten will join us at the top of the hour.
We will talk tot Guess what a general manager is
going to actually admit he got it wrong? Ge you
think so genius? Yeah, I'd say so find out who
it is and who admitted it next MJ in the
Midday ninety three to three KJR FM.

Speaker 6 (21:19):
I can't tell you what year we're going to win
the World Series. I can tell you that if we
win fifty four percent of our games over the course
of a decade, you're going to play in the World Series.

Speaker 1 (21:30):
I want to thank him for that suggestion because that
ties in perfect to this segment. Absolutely, to quote the
Lake great Kurt Henning, perfect because you have a GM
who clearly has no idea what the bleep he's doing,
and every time he opens his mouth he sticks his

(21:52):
freaking foot in it doesn't he doesn't he Chris not great?

Speaker 3 (22:00):
You know, Yeah, he's got a fair share of head scratchers.

Speaker 1 (22:05):
All right, Nico Harrison, the general manager of the Mavericks.
You know that dumb ass that traded one of the
top five players in the world, A guy that is
probably as much, if not more beloved than Michael Irvin,
Emmett Smith and Troy Aikman in Dallas, probably more beloved
than Dirt than well. No, Dirk did lead him to

(22:26):
a chip, so I can't Dirk lead him to a title.
So Dirk's got the statue, and but almost on the
level of Dirk.

Speaker 2 (22:33):
I mean, they the love for.

Speaker 1 (22:35):
And I and I understand why I love Luca and
I'm not even I I hate the Dallas. I hate
all the Dallas. I don't like any of their teams,
including the Mavericks. I hate the Cowboys. Really, I don't
have anything against the stars of the Rangers. But but
I love Luca. I love watching this kid. He's he's awesome,
he's great. Nico Harrison trades one of the best players

(22:59):
in the world. And after that, Dallas takes a complete
nose dive. They barely make it into the playing tournament.
Will they get Oh, they're the one game against excremento. No,
I called it that for a reason, excremento, because that's
basically what it is. I've never been there, but I

(23:20):
don't need of you to hold a piece of crap
in front of my face to know that it stinks.
So this, this guy pulls a Jerry Depoto and he
said quote he literally said this. I did know that
Luca was important to the fan base, I didn't quite
know to what level, Oh this was. If that was,

(23:48):
it's so pathetic. If it wasn't so laughable that quote.
I did know that Luca was important to the fan base,
I didn't quite know to what level.

Speaker 2 (23:59):
End quote. Well, let me tell you something, sweetheart. He's
worth a lot more to the fan base than you are.

Speaker 1 (24:05):
And when and by the way, he got put into
a position recently that he had to face the media
last week, and not because he wanted it to Patrick Dumont.
When Patrick Dumont fires your stupid ass, you'll be gone

(24:26):
and you will always be known as the dumbass who
traded Luca Doncic for a bag of bones. And Anthony
Davis a washed past his prime. Anthony Davis, Now if
you did this six years ago, oh, I would say, Okay,
I see where you.

Speaker 2 (24:45):
I see you work in Dallas. I get it.

Speaker 1 (24:48):
But first of all, you've got one of the best
front courts in the NBA anyway, with Derek Lively and
my boy Gafford from Arkansas. You've already got a great
front and then you so you add another guy. And
here's the thing about it. Just come out and just
come out and admit this right now. You traded Luca.

(25:11):
Oh oh oh no, no, there here's another great quote.
He comes out and he starts to stunt, and he
starts the flex and he says, quote Nico Harrison, here,
I think I have done a really good job here.
I don't think I can be judged by the injuries
this year. I think I should be judged by the
totality from end to end. Now to his credit, because

(25:36):
I'm gonna I'm blasting him, but I'm gonna give him
credit to who was in the finals last year against
the Boston Celtics, the Dallas Mavericks with Kyrie Irving, Derek Lively, PJ. Washington,
Daniel Gafford, and Luka Doncic. So you went from the

(25:56):
finals to the plan. Yeah, Kai got hurt and he
was done for the year. And Anthony Davis got hurt
the first game that you freaking traded for him in
the middle of the third quarter. Nico, you traded Luca
because you have a personal vendetta against him. It's the

(26:18):
Jerry Krause, Michael Jordan Chicago Bulls thing. You resent the
fact that he is the face of the franchise, or
was the face of the franchise. He's the most beloved hero,
Like I said, since Dirk, since Michael Irvin, and it's
Smith Troy Aikman, and for some reason, you have a

(26:38):
personal thing. Okay, is Luca a great defender? No, no,
he's not. He's one of the worst in the NBA.
But the pros far outweigh the cons. You're talking about
a once in a generation, a once maybe in a
lifetime player that we haven't seen, that can do things.

(26:59):
And he's twenty four to twenty five years old. You
traded him in the prime of his career. And you
know what I hate the most about this crap.

Speaker 2 (27:07):
Who's the team that always benefits from trades like this,
The freaking Lakers. They did it with Shaq in ninety six.

Speaker 1 (27:15):
They always benefit from you know and somebody just wants
to give the Lakers And this is basically what's pretty
much saved the Lakers season. Luka Doncic has saved the
Lakers season. Lakers were on a downward spiral. They couldn't
find their elbow from the you know what.

Speaker 2 (27:33):
And everything turned around when they got Luka Doncic. They're
a nude team.

Speaker 1 (27:37):
They're down on one, but it's a seven game series.
We'll see how it goes. I bet on the t
Wolves to win that series. But we'll see how it
goes overall. But man, you gonna come out, Matgine. If
Niko was here and he traded Luca, who was a
member of the SuperSonics, and he came out and said
those words. I did know that Luca was important to

(27:59):
the fan base, I didn't quite know to what level.
If you don't know to quite well, the fact that
you put that on public record, you should be fired
right away.

Speaker 2 (28:10):
For that, you should be fired right away.

Speaker 1 (28:15):
It's like the scene in Casino where they get hit
up on three slot machines in a span of twenty minutes,
and Robert de Niro says to the redneck guy who
he had to hire because he was the county commissioner's nephew.
He said, either A you were in on it, or
B you were too stupid to know what was going on.

(28:36):
Either way, you're out. That's Nico Harrison. If you did
not truly know to what level, you gotta go. Man,
you gotta go. You gotta go, bro. It's time to
get out of there. It is time to go.

Speaker 2 (28:54):
That is uh. That's sad. It's sad.

Speaker 1 (28:56):
I do feel for the people of Dallas because they
didn't deserve that you know who else didn't deserve it,
a guy who's one of the most prominent sports media
personalities on the planet right now. Yeah, So what happens
when you invite my former boss on your show and
he basically hijacked the whole thing. We'll get to that
next and hitting to All Fields on MJ and the

(29:17):
Midday and Mikey Benton. We'll talk to Magic. Mikey Benton
coming up. I think he'll be here in studio. He'll
be here live here in studio, so we'll talk to
him about the Kraken going on.

Speaker 2 (29:27):
Their third coach in four years.

Speaker 1 (29:31):
Next on MJ in the Midday on ninety three to three,
KJR at them. So, for those of you who aren't
really familiar, this is MJ in the Midday.

Speaker 2 (29:43):
You might not be familiar with me.

Speaker 1 (29:44):
I've only been here two and a half months, so
you might beginning to know me.

Speaker 2 (29:48):
Let me just give you a little backstory.

Speaker 1 (29:50):
I used to be a ring announcer for Paul Hayman
in ECW Extreme Championship Wrestling, and I mean the real ECW,
the kind that was at the ECW Arena in South
Philadelphia where the most vile like reprehensible fans, but I
love them all, but the kind that would chant things like.

Speaker 2 (30:12):
At certain.

Speaker 1 (30:14):
People that were in the ring, she's got her bees
dent d They would chant that, and that was one
of the nice ones.

Speaker 2 (30:22):
That was one of the nice ones.

Speaker 1 (30:24):
So anyway, long story short, My former boss was a
guy by the name of Paul Hayman aka Pauly Dangerously.

Speaker 2 (30:30):
He's now in the WWE and he's killing it well.

Speaker 1 (30:35):
Yesterday, the wise Man went on the Pat McAfee show,
and let's.

Speaker 2 (30:45):
Just say things did not go very well for Pat McAfee.

Speaker 1 (30:48):
Here's Paul Hayman on Shannon Sharpe.

Speaker 5 (30:54):
CM punk does as much good to my reputation Shannon
Sharp does to ESPN one.

Speaker 4 (31:04):
Case, all right, see, I'm we don't need we don't
need that on I don't.

Speaker 5 (31:11):
Be I'm not the one getting shot, okay, alright.

Speaker 1 (31:18):
All right, So, in case you're not familiar, like what's
he talking about, there's a lawsuit Shannon Sharp's ex girlfriend.

Speaker 2 (31:24):
Now there's a lot of things going on.

Speaker 1 (31:26):
Today's Shannon Sharp's attorney released a bunch of text message
from this woman who's thirty years younger than Shannon Sharp
to him. But today there was something that the New
York Posts and a bunch of others launched that they
have audio recording of Shannon Sharp saying to his ex girlfriend, quote,

(31:47):
Lord have mercy.

Speaker 2 (31:48):
If you say that word.

Speaker 1 (31:49):
One more time, I will effen choke the s out
of you when I see you.

Speaker 2 (31:54):
Thank you. End quote.

Speaker 1 (31:56):
And the woman tells Sharp she does not want to
be choked, to which he purportedly tells her quot, yes
you do. So that's not a good look. And it
was recent. So this is a that's a very uncomfortable thing.
That boy, the timing couldn't be worse for Shannon Sharpe either.

Speaker 5 (32:11):
Man.

Speaker 1 (32:11):
He's on the verge of a hundred million dollar podcast deal.
He's about to get paid in full, more money than
he ever made in his playing career.

Speaker 2 (32:18):
Well, the why I believe so, I believe, yeah, you
could do that.

Speaker 1 (32:29):
Yeah, Christopher kid right now is we're gonna be better, Safetan.

Speaker 2 (32:32):
Sorry.

Speaker 1 (32:33):
So, Paul Hayman in the wrestling business is a guy
that is a shooter.

Speaker 2 (32:40):
I will I will say it's about Paul Hayman.

Speaker 1 (32:43):
He's probably the greatest public speaker I've ever seen in
my entire life, which and I've tried to absorb a
lot of things that I learned from Paul e.

Speaker 2 (32:55):
He is someone that he's a genius.

Speaker 1 (32:58):
He's a genius when it comes to the wrestling business,
angles storylines, things like that. He's not the greatest businessman
in terms of money. It's kind of why ECW went
in the toilet and ultimately ECW, let's just say that
they ended up selling out to the former WWE owner
Vince McMahon for pennies on the dollar. Paul Hayman wasn't

(33:21):
the greatest businessman. He just is that. It just is
what it is. Okay, he wasn't, but he must have
just been in some mood yesterday, like an id gaff
the id gaff mood, you know, like I don't give
a bleep mood. It seemed like he was in that
mood yesterday because Paul, he's made a lot of money.
I mean, he's a multi millionaire so many times over.

(33:44):
He didn't say anything racist. He certainly didn't say anything
anti semitic. He didn't say anything misogynistic. He didn't say anything,
but he well, he did say something that was a
little bit uncomfortable towards a gentleman in the audience of
hispanic nature and which wasn't really good and I don't
even I can't believe that was actually set on ESPN.

Speaker 2 (34:08):
But then he did something that you really don't do.
He divulged something very private, very confident, strictly confidential, that
happened after the roast with Tony Hinchcliffe the night before,
after WrestleMania took place. I guess Pat McAfee and.

Speaker 1 (34:27):
Him were, you know, hanging out afterwards, and he did
something that pretty much doxed Pat McAfee in the sense
that McAfee didn't know what to say or do. And
I and and my heart broke for him because you
could tell how watching the like listening to this cliff

(34:48):
does not do it justice. It does not do it
justice whatsoever. I mean just kind of like when you
listen to it, it it's still it's I feel so
bad and uncomfortable for Pat McAfee because he did not
deserve this. He did not deserve what Paul Hayman leashed
upon him.

Speaker 5 (35:07):
Here.

Speaker 2 (35:07):
It is, do you.

Speaker 5 (35:08):
Care about the opinions of people who are irrelevant? You
don't care about the opinions of most people who are
very relevant in your life. You don't care what opinions
are the people who pay you. They sit there and
they go, hey, mister McAfee, don't talk about jamming chup
on here today, And you go, I talk about anything.
I got what Pat McAfee, watch me swing my sh
over the place they had to go, mcaffee, don't talk

(35:29):
about your podcast.

Speaker 3 (35:30):
On the air.

Speaker 2 (35:31):
What do you do? Ha ha, I'm kidding?

Speaker 7 (35:34):
What's me, Pat McAfee.

Speaker 2 (35:35):
Right, this is not here.

Speaker 7 (35:36):
This is about you.

Speaker 2 (35:37):
I mean, I'm hacker and stuff, right, hack your stuff.

Speaker 5 (35:41):
I mean last night when the roast was over and
you and I allow back and you're going lives bed
By the way, it's puff puff pass not puff puff
puff puff puff puff puff chase down the gummy puff
puff puff puff. Right, you're the wise man, you know,

(36:06):
Steven even as Smith really sucks.

Speaker 7 (36:08):
Right, And I go, I love Stephen Day the man
called me the goat. The man Stephen Smith is on
the air saying, if there's one person in the universe
that I Stephen Ah Smith at seventy billion dollars a
year here want to be the wise man, Paul Hayman.
And you sit there and you go these ESPN bastards

(36:29):
give me the same money as him, would they can?

Speaker 5 (36:32):
No?

Speaker 4 (36:32):
Fuck now, that's true.

Speaker 2 (36:36):
Oh, I felt so bad by the way. You couldn't
see the gesture he did.

Speaker 1 (36:40):
He did the degeneration X suck it gesture, like down
to the crotch.

Speaker 2 (36:45):
He did that gesture.

Speaker 1 (36:47):
Pat McAfee, I think you'll think twice again before having
Paul haman matter of fact, I don't think ESPN will
ever allow Paul Hayman to be on any of their
programming again.

Speaker 2 (36:55):
That oh pretty much.

Speaker 1 (36:57):
And you know what, Paul Hayman doesn't care, isn't need
to his his He's already in the Hall of fame.
He's solidified even that people. I'm like, but uh, and
you know what the thing about it, I guarantee you
everything that Paul said on the air was true. But
you don't docks your boy Pat McAfee like that. There

(37:18):
was already apparently a lot of bad blood between Steve
and a camp and Pat McAfee's camp, and now it's
even worse now you throw Shannon Sharp on the equation.
Shannon Sharp got some Uh didn't see him taking some
strays on that one. He took some strays there, but
Paul Hayman.

Speaker 2 (37:35):
There you go.

Speaker 1 (37:37):
I've always seen Paul Hayman a few times. Well, i've
seen him more than a few times, probably a ten
times since ECW went away. But I'll I'll note to
self Paul Hayman never in studio if we have him
on the phone, that dumb button and just the all right,
we're gonna end this interview. He couldn't do it because
Paul Hayman was right there, so he couldn't just get

(37:58):
rid of him. I imagine the suits in Bristol like
that one. That was not Pat McAfee's finest moment. But
I feel bad for Pat on that one man. He
did not deserve that. What we do deserve is a
winning franchise in the NHL, The Kraken, who's gonna take
over this franchise for the third time in four years.

(38:20):
We'll talk to Mike Benton and about some other things
Craken related. Who's going and who's staying as a part
of the Dan Biles mustaff oh yes, who's being retained?
All that and more next on MJ and The Midday
