Speaker 1 (00:00):
Listen to this.

Speaker 2 (00:03):
With the fiftieth pick in the twenty twenty five NFL Draft,
according to CBS Sports, this is they're mocking this obviously,
uh mock drafting this, not mocking it, like making fun
of They have the Seahawks taking Jalen Milroe, quarterback Alabama.
I would not agree with that at that pick. I
don't mind you taking a quarterback maybe later in the

(00:23):
third round, maybe Kyle McCord out of Sarahcuse. I don't
think Tyler Shuck from Louisville will be there. And it
says quote Milroe can learn under Sam Darnald while simultaneously
serving as a contingency plan if things go south for
the veteran boy. Nobody's given Sam Donald any any hope.

(00:44):
So I'm like, well, who are the Seahawks going to
take a fifty two? And I see Mason Taylor tight
end LSU I'm like, yes, good, we get a tight
end in here. But then it has Seattle making a
trade with Jacksonville and Jacksonville taking Mason Taylor. So they
they're projecting all this stuff. We don't know what's gonna happen,

(01:05):
but you know, John Schneider is a.

Speaker 1 (01:07):
Wheeler and dealer. So we'll see what happens.

Speaker 2 (01:11):
Oh oh, whoa well, WHOA hold on a second? WHOA
hold the phone? Here now getting Jacksonville's pick. In the
third round, it has the Seahawks taking Emery Jones junior
o Lineman lsu the teammate of Mason Taylor.

Speaker 1 (01:29):
So that would not suck.

Speaker 2 (01:32):
I like Emery Jones, don't want Jaln Milroe at fifty.
I want Jaden Higgins the wide receiver out of Iowa
State at fifty. So it has the Seahawks taking Emery
Jones with the obviously perceived hypothetical trade scenario with Jacksonville.

Speaker 1 (01:53):
So cannot wait.

Speaker 2 (01:54):
And then it has listen to this one for a
lot of you Ducks fans here in the PNWA has
the Seahawks taking Tes Johnson wide receiver from Oregon with
the eighty second overall picks. A lot of things going
on here. But and then, oh, by the way, this
boy this really did some in depth on Seattle via

(02:17):
mock trade with the Jags. The Seahawks would take tight
end not Elijah Royo Harold Fannin out of Bowling Green.
I don't know about that one, folks, but We'll see
a lot of things to happen, but I would love
to see Emery Jones wearing a Seahawks uniform out of LSU.

(02:39):
You put him next to Grey's Abel, sign me up,
man solidify that O line for the first time. And
I can't even remember, not like ever in the John
Schneider era. Right, So, Zabel, let's talk about him right now.
He started forty of his sixty two games at North
Dakota State, which was a lot.

Speaker 1 (03:02):
So that's really good.

Speaker 2 (03:04):
And he's a guy that played six nine hundred and
sixty one snaps at tackle at North Dakota State, which
I'm like, okay, very nice. He uh senior year, he
started sixteen games, like I said, at left tackle, Consensus

(03:24):
All American honors in first team All mv FC.

Speaker 1 (03:29):
Don't know that it was the FCS. We know that.

Speaker 2 (03:32):
And he's a guy that I could see, you know,
perhaps I after talking to Nick Baumgardner and hearing that
that was his he said, and I'm if I'm paraphrasing here, Christopher,
that that was his best pick in the draft last night,
Seattle taking grays Abel when we had him on an

(03:53):
hour ago. I was floored by that. What did you
think by that?

Speaker 3 (03:58):
Nick knows is his fat man, So so for me.

Speaker 4 (04:03):
I like the pick.

Speaker 3 (04:04):
I think this could really help out this offensive line.
Getting a guy that has the capability of playing guard
or center. There's gonna be some competition there. I think
he will probably be If Olu takes the next step,
I could see it being Charles Cross your left guard.
Maybe it's the Great's Abele center, Olu. Maybe they draft

(04:25):
the right guard and your right tackles ay when Hopes
is healthy, Abe Lucas, that's what you're looking at, which
to me that sounds good on paper. The one thing
that I'll go back to what you were talking about
in him not playing against the elite competition. I will
say though Travis Hunter is an example of someone that
didn't play an elite competition at Jackson, Anyone was.

Speaker 1 (04:48):
Like, oh, is he really that good?

Speaker 3 (04:50):
He shows the explosiveness, and obviously it's not a fair
comparison because we got to see what Travis could do
at the best level in college football and he dominated.
When you get this see that from this kid coming
in and gray. But if you could play ball, you
could play ball. Hey, Josh Allen play at Wyoming right
who they play, You.

Speaker 1 (05:07):
Know what I mean? Who just won the MVP.

Speaker 3 (05:10):
No, I hear you know what I mean? So I
think if he can play ball, he can play ball. Sure,
he might have a learning curve, but even they talked,
I know, Nick talked about it, and I read in
The Beast that even at the Prole not the Pro Bowl,
but the Senior Bowl, he was fine going up against
that competition. He held his own and they kept throwing
him out there and he kept winning. They kept putting
him out there and he continued to win. So I

(05:31):
think he will transition just finding the NFL. It's all
about the other things that go into making you a
talented offensive line at the next level. He's gonna have
his ups and downs, obviously, but hell, he called up
Mike McDonald said are you ready to go to work?
And Mike was like, oh, I love that answer. I'm
supposed to tell that to you. The guy has Yeah,
he has all the tools to be making a as

(05:52):
they wrote, and The Beast dam Bruglers said, pro Bowl caliber.
If they can get a PROBA on this kid, thumbs up,
that's a that's a great start.

Speaker 1 (06:00):
Yeah, So we'll see what he can do.

Speaker 3 (06:02):
But like you said, as you always say, MJ, we
won't know it till Sundays, and when nobody knows, right,
it's gonna be us talking about it, wondering can he
be this guard that takes this offensive line to the
next level where they have a run game. Sam Donald
is protected and he plays as he did in Minnesota,
if not even better, depending off they grab another wide
receiver or they're set with what they have, So it'll

(06:25):
be it'll be a fun summer I begin.

Speaker 1 (06:27):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (06:28):
And by the way, so many more picks. They got
nine left in the draft. They got four tonight, two
in the second round, two in the third round. And
that's just now. Something could happen over the course of
the next eight hours. They could end up with more
picks in the second or third round, or they could
trade down it, you know. Yeah, And here's some of
the some of the comments about Gray's Abel quote you mentioned,

(06:50):
Jane Bruler, I'm gonna kind of give a synopsis of this.
Whether out in space or confined areas, Zabel shines as
a run blocker. With his athletic range in grip strength
to connect strain and seal lanes, and pass protection. He
can be walked back and surrendered Depp versus power, but
he mirrors well and stays balanced through contact as he

(07:12):
refits his hands to grind bullrushes to a halt. A
college tackle. He projects best inside at either center or guard,
where he will compete for immediate starting reps and offer
Pro Bowl upside all right coaching Intel, an anonymous coach
told Bruce Feldman in his mock draft about Gray's abel, quote,

(07:36):
He's a talented, physical kid. I don't think he's quite
as good as Cody Mock of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
He's a guard or Bill's tackle Spencer Brown. I think
he's better than New Orleans Saints' first round tackle Trevor Penning.
Gray is a really good athlete, but I think Mock
bent better and was more of a mauler. Meant, we

(07:58):
saw Nick bombga partner and what he wrote, He said
a plus his highest grade of last night's draft a plus.
And he echoed those sentiments on with us an hour ago.
And you know, just to add to what Nick said,
he said, quote a high floor player who feels multiple
needs for a Seattle team that absolutely needed it. He's

(08:20):
one of the draft hardest workers, one of the smartest
players in this class.

Speaker 1 (08:24):
He played every position.

Speaker 2 (08:26):
Along the O line at a high level in college,
turning down big money to stay at North Dakota State
before dominating at the Senior Bowl. Awesome pick here, great
fit A plus. This is according to Mike Sando. Seahawks
need interior O line help and many mocks them selecting Zabel,

(08:48):
so this move does not qualify as a shock. Still
a little surprising given the Seahawks history. To see them
stan Pat in the middle of the first round and
target the player position that fans have clamored for them
to target, it probably shows that trading back wasn't appealing.
The pick wins the news conference based on the perceived
needs and makes a lot of sense.

Speaker 1 (09:11):
So there you go.

Speaker 2 (09:13):
There's a lot of thing there, there's a lot of
there to like, and it can be boom and I
don't think it'll be bussed. I think I don't think
he'll be a boss. I think it'll be boom or
he'll he'll be met. I don't see a bust on him.
I see this guy. He's gonna be a player in
the NFL. Is he, you know, gonna be Zach Martin no,

(09:35):
we don't know. We're not sure of that. But nonetheless,
he's gonna be a guy that I think is gonna
come in and you want a guy who is ready
to play right away. In other words, get him in
mini camp, get him in there, get him you know,
going through reps and doing all these things. So when
you get down to July, in the dog days of

(09:56):
summer of the actual training camp in the preseason, it's
like he's not a rookie anymore. I mean, yeah, you're
gonna you haven't faced live bullets until you get to preseason.
Even there, you don't really face live bullets except for
usually the first quarter, and then you get to the
season comes along. Oh, by the way, speaking of the
regular season, they NFL announced that last night, coming up
in a three weeks, May fourteenth, will be the announcement

(10:17):
of the regular season schedule. So everybody out there, you know,
and the lazy sports talkcoasts can go, like the people
in the Northeast at a certain station, that's a win,
that's a loss, that's a win, that's a loss. Listen,
nobody knows. Like, the one thing we do know about
the NFL is that it's an anthology it's not a continuum.

(10:42):
There are certain things that do continue from seasons to season.
Like I'm not gonna go anylimb here. The Philadelphia Eagles,
they're gonna be great this year. Okay, they're coming off
a Super Bowl win. They just you know, they bolster
their team. They have the best online in football, one
of the best quarterbacks in football who finally won, you know,
a title and really validated what could end up being

(11:04):
a Hall of Fame career. They have the best running
back in football. They might have top five receiver with
aj Brown. DeVante Smith's not that far behind. They got
the tight end, they got it all. We know that
the Chiefs are gonna be back in full effect. We
know that the Lions if they can get Hutchinson healthy.
So those things we know, But then we don't know,

(11:24):
like who could be a team that comes out of
nowhere and makes a run. When the Cincinnati Bengals went
to the Super Bowl back in twenty twenty one, nobody.

Speaker 1 (11:35):
Saw that prior to the season.

Speaker 2 (11:37):
Nobody's had them going into Arrowhead and beating the Chiefs
in the AFC Championship Game.

Speaker 1 (11:41):
It happened, And there's gonna be a team this year.

Speaker 2 (11:44):
You know what if Pete Carroll, John Spytech, Darren Vegas,
maybe the Raiders are surprised. Who knows, but there will
be surprises this year. All in all, though, I thought
the Rams did pretty good last night trading out and
getting more draft capital.

Speaker 1 (12:02):
They have it.

Speaker 3 (12:05):
Right, they do right. There's a reason why they are
Super Bowl champions. When they said FM picks, they went
out and won it. Then everybody thought, oh, they're gonna
be a bad football team. They get Pooka Nakua hell
even to to at Well, names that people were like,
who was too too at Well, Well, the Seahawks know
him very well because both of those guys came to
Seattle and put on a show. And they've been doing

(12:25):
that every every time they pull up, so clearly they
have they know what they're doing with the draft.

Speaker 4 (12:30):
With how they prepare their the teams.

Speaker 3 (12:33):
I mean, Sean McVay, he's probably one of the smartest
dudes in the league. He just always finds a way
and even this season, if they weren't.

Speaker 1 (12:41):
Probably is one of the smartest in the league.

Speaker 3 (12:43):
If they weren't playing in icy Philadelphia, they probably would
be in the Super Bowl. And it's not as if
they didn't show up, they just had a few bad breaks.
They are again, I don't know a player away just
staying healthy would help them. Their whole entire offensive line
fell to the ground last season, and they still found
themselves in the postseason where no one expected them to be.

(13:05):
And I after the division again, Yep, so that's one
team that Okay, yeah, the Seahawks might be closer, but
are they really they actually just improved. Meanwhile, we're discussing
did the Seahaws get better by cutting deep? By getting
ready of Decay and Gino are the same? Are they better? Meanwhile,
the Rams gonna win twelve plus games.

Speaker 5 (13:24):
Probably, no doubt.

Speaker 2 (13:25):
I mean, I'm they're They're the NFC West champions in
my eyes side, I think they're.

Speaker 3 (13:30):
Some class of the division unless something goes really bad
with them.

Speaker 4 (13:33):
I don't see how they don't win the NFC West.

Speaker 2 (13:36):
Right one mock here in the third round, I don't
think he drops this far. Jaden Higgins going to the
Chiefs Seattle cheating, Yeah, I mean, you better jump on that.
You better you got fifty and fifty two. I like
to see Jaden Higgins as a Seahawk. We don't you
know we don't want that, and you just know, I mean,
look at what the the speaking of the Rams. Look

(13:58):
at what less Snie did last year. I can't say
it enough. I mean, Jared Vers, Braydon Fisk and then
he grabs Cam Kitten's out of Miami and all three
of those dudes are not only they starters their Pro Bowl.
I mean, listen, Jared Verse could have been the defensive
Player of the.

Speaker 1 (14:15):
Year last year. He was that damn good.

Speaker 2 (14:18):
So right now in terms of it, has the Rams
taking Carson Schwsinger linebacker out of UCLA so he wouldn't
have to really even leave town.

Speaker 1 (14:30):
You just know like they are to me.

Speaker 2 (14:32):
If I'm the Seahawks, you're right now the template in
the West that is the best are the l A Rams, period.

Speaker 1 (14:40):
I don't know about the Niners how they're gonna be
this year.

Speaker 2 (14:42):
They should have a bounce back year because the core
Ayuke Purdy, Kittle, McCaffrey, they're still there.

Speaker 1 (14:51):
They're gonna bounce back.

Speaker 2 (14:52):
They I think the worst bad luck teams of the
league last year were San Francisco and Detroit. They couldn't
had my worst luck when it came to injuries, so
you know, maybe that's gonna you know, perhaps turn their
way this year, but it's gonna be interesting. And I'm
looking forward to seeing what Schneider does in the second
round because these are the picks, man, what you know,

(15:14):
those first three to four rounds are the ones that
you really have to hit on. Sure, you might be
able to get a diamond in the rough there later on,
like Jr. Sweezee in the seventh round back in you know,
twenty ten or twenty twelve or whatever. Sure, but you
gotta nail the first three to four rounds. That's where

(15:36):
you if your scouting department is great at what they do,
and you know, I feel the Seahawks have a really
good talent evaluation assessment. They haven't hit on everything, we
know this, but they they have, you know, and Hugh
Millan broke it down for us where twenty ten or
twenty twelve they had like eight guys that they drafted

(15:57):
that were Pro Bowl starters and we haven't seen it
since then. Now we got to see it. This draft
is everything. So I can't emphasize enough because solidify the
old line again tonight, maybe with another guard, and then
look at tight end, maybe receiver Jaden Higgins.

Speaker 1 (16:15):
I would love to see him here.

Speaker 2 (16:16):
He would be six four and a half tall receiver,
the total suite to may Or the sour to maybe
Jackson Smith and Jig but sweet, the sweet. You know
you need that tall guy, that imposing guy. There's no
Dk Metcalf in this draft, but someone who's got that size.
And then you gotta look at tight end. I would

(16:37):
be very disappointed if we get to the end of
the fourth round and the Seahawks have not selected a
tight end. They need one badly, and I'm hoping that
tight end will be taken with the fiftieth or the
fifty second pick in this draft. And if they're gonna
move up and they like someone bad enough to move up,
It's not usually Schneider's style to move up, but maybe
he moves down. But you're going to need a tight end.

(16:58):
If it's Mason Taylor, great Isajo Royal Gunner Helm. You
got to get one of those guys. Somebody out there
that's gonna help Sam Darnold out. All right, So what
do you say? Text of the Day coming up next
at four nine, four five one. We've got a lot
of texts in today. If you want your text to
be read in real time. We'll get to that next
on MJ and the Midday ninety three to three kJ

(17:20):
R f M all right, before we get to what
do you say text of the day on MJ and
the Midday, I just want to say everybody killed it
yesterday from here at KJR, all the way from Ian
Ferness in his show with Jess and all the way
to Softy Dick Jackson. I have I have a new

(17:41):
found respect because I know Christopher Kidd yesterday was uh,
we're putting in some overtime between the hours of one
and five or later than that, Yeah, one and five.

Speaker 5 (17:52):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (17:53):
I was there at the Seahawks facility renting, and I
want I'm gonna have the over under for every commercial
break or Softy hey kid, you got that sound? Kid,
you got that sound. I have a newfound respect for
Jackson and what he goes through. Oh my lord. But
today all the shows starting with Ian will be there
and rented at the Seahawks facility starting at one o'clock

(18:16):
and Rob rang from Fox Sports will be on with Ian,
ed two, Softy Dick and Hugh with Coach Holmgren will
be on between Homegirn will be there between three to four.
Wrang will be in for hits. The twelfth Man Draft
show coming up with Ian Hugh and Rang from Virginia
Mason Athletic Center from seven to nine pm, and then

(18:39):
Tomorrow Ian Rang will be there between nine am to
twelve pm. In it starts early early. Chuck will be
out there as well between noon and three, and then
anders Hurst and who's this guy? Christopher Kidd will be
on tomorrow between three and five. How about that, you
guys getting the big seats to close it out?

Speaker 1 (18:59):
Very nice. I'm the rookie.

Speaker 2 (19:01):
I didn't even I didn't get a chance to talk
at the Seahawks facility. They probably, you know, wouldn't want
me to say, you know, Donovan Jackson, But I mean, hey,
I keep it real at all times, and you can
always check out our socials.

Speaker 1 (19:14):
Don't forget on Twitter X.

Speaker 2 (19:16):
You can see ninety three three kjr on Instagram, TikTok,
all those great things. But nobody does draft coverage to
weigh ninety three to three kjr. And believe me, I
can only tell you I have been at a bunch
of stations, and I've been in different markets and I
can tell you Boston, Atlanta, Tampa, Miami, Charlotte, and even

(19:38):
all the ones I've listened to, nobody does draft coverage
the way we do here at ninety three three KGr.

Speaker 1 (19:44):
It's great to be a part of the team.

Speaker 2 (19:45):
And I look forward to getting a chance to talk
about the draft next year, because you know, I'm It's
a really big deal in my world, and I love
and I can guarantee you nobody at this station, nobody
at any station in America watch more college football than
Mark James yours. Truly, I can guarantee that much. And

(20:05):
with financial interest or without, I am wall to wall
college football. I will tell you I watch so much
college football. Let me let me just put it to you.
In football period in the fall for my dating life,
don't go out on Thursday night. Don't go out on
Saturday night. Don't go out on Sunday night. Don't go

(20:26):
out on Monday night. You got Tuesday or Wednesday, ladies,
you got two nights during football season. So you better
line up, you bet. If I'm cam wod, you better
line up soon. All right, let's go to the what
do you say? Text of the day. Chris lead us off.

Speaker 1 (20:40):
All right, let's take a look.

Speaker 3 (20:41):
See this is from the two six. Mark you asked
the question that surprise team because you went through the
top heavy teams, all the good ones. Who's gonna be
the surprise team? You mentioned the Bengals a few years back.
No one expect him to do that. Ben from the
two six says, the Waiters might be that team question

(21:03):
Mark with their northstrom Rack quarterback.

Speaker 2 (21:05):
It could be Aston genty right, they got him last night.
You know it's it's a You got Pete Carroll there.

Speaker 1 (21:11):
Now.

Speaker 2 (21:11):
Listen, a tough division, though, man, the toughest division in
the NFL. I mean at AFC, what you got three
Hall of Fame, four all Fame coachers, but at least
the Raiders have one of them. Now you got Pete Carroll,
Jim Harbaugh, Sean Payton, and the man Andy Reid, who's
the best coach in the world. Right now, it's uh,
I'm just gonna get I'm gonna get to a lot
of these Mel Kuiper ones and I'm gonna put them

(21:33):
all in one. From the two o six, mel an
absolute clown from the four two five. Mel was doing
tricks last night. Uh hey, and I'll give this one
from the two oh six as well. Hey, Mark, time
will only tell how Grey's Abel or Donovan Jackson will
do in the NFL. But regarding their colleges, sure Donovan

(21:53):
played a harder division he puts here. Oh yeah, he played.
I would say, let's just put competition there. But he
also had better players around him. We'll never know, but
I wonder how Gray would have done playing for Ohio State.
Maybe a top ten draft pick. But I'm just glad
the Hawks went with an offensive player for their eighteenth pick.
I'm glad they went with an offensive lineman for their

(22:14):
first round pick.

Speaker 3 (22:16):
This one comes from the three six, So give me
Tate rutleget fifty to pair with was Abel like armor
from North Dakota and a Southern boy that wears sixty
nine has a mullets for success.

Speaker 2 (22:30):
Those are like the big uglies, the fat men on
the O line. That's what you want from the two
h six. Last night's open on ESPN was pathetic. About
two minutes of Shadur Hype kissing up to Dion. I
switched to NFL Network. Oh, by the way, their articles
being written awful announcing New York posts. So many of them.
How ESPN not NFL network. ESPN completely almost like, oh,

(22:56):
cam More's a number one pick, but what about Shador?
What about the trade with the Jags and the Browns
for Travis Hunter? It was the most ignored number one
overall pick in NFL or NBA draft history. It's almost like, oh,
here's cam Ward, there he is? What about Shador?

Speaker 5 (23:14):
It was?

Speaker 2 (23:14):
It was pathetic. ESPN took a big L last night,
no bigger L than mel though he's the biggest L
of the night.

Speaker 3 (23:20):
From the three six Oh James, I believe is his name.
Kyle WILLIAMSBI issue wide receiver would be an amazing pick
at that fifty or fifty second overall for the Seahawks.

Speaker 1 (23:32):
Don't hate it. I don't hate it. I'm okay.

Speaker 2 (23:35):
Well, now, if a receiver is taken that you believe
can be that guy, I'm okay. I didn't want an eighteen,
so thankfully that didn't happen two oh six.

Speaker 1 (23:44):
For once, I agree with MJ.

Speaker 2 (23:46):
Donovan Jackson is the better lineman lately Seahawks high profile editions.
This guy, I'm wow. I didn't read the whole tweet before,
and I don't know if I want to read now.
I don't want to read the rest it gets it's
there now, but thank you for agreeing with me, and
I stand by that.

Speaker 1 (24:03):
Listen. I stand by that.

Speaker 2 (24:03):
I think Donovan Jackson's better, but doesn't mean Gray's abel
can't be great too.

Speaker 3 (24:07):
Just remember that, Mark, you've been big or should I say,
excited about coming to the PMW and the draft starts
a little earlier. So this is from the three six
to oh Mark, You're gonna love the Pacific time zone
come this football season. That is if you already don't
like it for your sports viewing as well. And that's
from Donnin's and Tralia.

Speaker 1 (24:27):
I like it.

Speaker 2 (24:28):
Don not staying up till one thirty two o'clock in
the morning never again watching BYU versus. You know utah right, No,
I know from the four two five preach MJ preach it.
You are one hundred percent right about Shabbust Shador.

Speaker 1 (24:43):
He called him shab Bust. That's funny.

Speaker 2 (24:46):
Oh, Chris, I gotta get one more in on meld
I missed this one four two five Mel's Senile Kuiper
is done, needs to retire.

Speaker 5 (24:52):
He is washed.

Speaker 1 (24:54):
End quote.

Speaker 2 (24:55):
Yeah, I thought that's a really, really really bad. Look
someone else, did you see mad mel on the McAfee
show so good? No, I didn't because I'm working at
that time. But hey McAfee, man, Hey mcaffee, he just continues.
Guess we had on today Roger Goodell. I mean that
dude is like, God bless Pat Matt. That's one guy

(25:16):
who should never retire because that dude is like living
every man's dream life right now, including me. I mean,
that dude's living. He had a sinchilla on today at
Greek Day mcaffee, but kudos to him, man, he's the
man right now.

Speaker 3 (25:32):
From the two oh six. Let's not forget about Christian Haines. Well,
the reason why I didn't bring up Christian Haines they
didn't believe in Christian Hanes. How many times was he
starting one week ben to the Knicks coming in for
games coming out. There wasn't enough consistency in my eyes
for Christian Haynes to be deemed a starter. I didn't
forget about him, but I don't think he's going to

(25:52):
be starting. But maybe he takes that next jump and
is better than he was last season. I'm not sure
he's gonna make that jump, but we shall see, but
I don't think he's gonna be the starting guard for
the Seahawks.

Speaker 4 (26:04):
I could be wrong, but I don't see it right now.

Speaker 2 (26:06):
I mean, it's a new system, right, but how many
online coaches have been here in the last five years?

Speaker 3 (26:10):
I mean, how much twenty five? How much is it
gonna change from the system for him.

Speaker 1 (26:13):
To be better.

Speaker 5 (26:14):
That's a good point.

Speaker 4 (26:15):
He's getting pushed back into Gino's lab last season.

Speaker 1 (26:17):
Yeah yeah, I know he's.

Speaker 3 (26:19):
Excellent getting out in crushing dudes, but if you have
him pass blocking, path protecting, he's pushed back, and it's
it's not all that good.

Speaker 2 (26:28):
As we speak, Mel Kuiper's out there, still trying to
save face, perhaps trying to convince his doorman or barista
about the upside of Shador Sanders. Ready to die on
a little ant hill, conjuring comparisons to Brady Breeze in Montana.
Sit down and can it. Nobody cares about your batting average, Kuiper.

(26:49):
Now and listen, you're talking to a guy that has
been a charter member of the Mel Kuiper fan club
ever since I can remember. I've met the guy. He's
I've interviewed the guy when I was doing stuff on
ESPN Radio on a Saturday, I had him on and
it was me, him and Mike Tannenbaum and and I
put Mel versus Mike Tannenbaum and let them go at it.

Speaker 1 (27:09):
It was awesome.

Speaker 2 (27:10):
But Mel, there comes a time. It just comes a time,
and and maybe if you're not going to retire, then
somebody needs to just say, hey, Mel, Nino Brown says
your services are no longer needed in the community, or
maybe you know a certain president of ESPN says your
services are no longer needed in the community. I just

(27:30):
it's bad. It's just it's it's it's getting to the
point where it's embarrassing now. And he he I'll give this.
He's sticking through with Shaduur no matter what. And believe
you me, if and more than likely when he gets
picked tonight, probably in the first seven picks, either by Cleveland,
New Orleans or maybe the Raiders, Mel is going to
have he's going to have a verbal mail, very like

(28:01):
a moment that we shouldn't. He's gonna be Oh my lord,
just get ready for it, because it's all about right now,
it's on Mel. It's like for those of you back
in the day that I think only Softy Dick and
Ian would know. This reference Purple sheet was well, there
was a college football analyst back in the day.

Speaker 1 (28:18):
His name was Beno Cook.

Speaker 2 (28:20):
For those of you under the age of Christopher Kidd
about thirty five, guy's name was Beno Cook, and he
was an old man, he was curmudgeon. And he said
back in nineteen ninety four that a quarterback at Notre
Dame by the name of Ron Paulus was gonna win
two Heismans.

Speaker 5 (28:37):
And it just.

Speaker 1 (28:38):
Basically he never could live it down. Ron Pollis was
a complete bust at Notre Dame.

Speaker 2 (28:43):
And every time you thought of Beno Cook, you thought
of him saying that Ron Paullus was gonna win two Heismans.
This could be Mel Kiper's Ron Paulus Beno Cook moment. Seriously,
it's bad. It's it's bad, clearly I can tell you.
And let me say that again in case you're just listening.
Mel can't hold Hugh Millan's laptop, his red pen anything.

(29:13):
He can't do anything. Forget about Hugh Millan. He's nowhere
close to Hugh Millan. He's nowhere close to Daniel Jeremiah.
He's nowhere close to Todd McShay, Steve Mensch, Field Yates,
Matt Miller.

Speaker 1 (29:24):
Et cetera, et cetera, et cetera.

Speaker 2 (29:27):
Mel It's just my man, you have dude, You've had
a forty plus year career.

Speaker 1 (29:31):
You've been doing this since eighty four.

Speaker 2 (29:33):
It's time to maybe let some other guys probably, and
I think ESPN is grooming. I'm hoping next year it'll
just be Matt Miller and Field Yates. But I'm happy
that we've got our QB one who actually does his
homework and actually is great at talent evaluation.

Speaker 1 (29:48):
Hugh Millan.

Speaker 2 (29:49):
So, Hugh Millan is a freaking machine. By the way,
that dude is like a machine. I mean, he doesn't stop.
He's like all the time. If you just pulled him
and say, hey, what do you think about the you know,
what did you think about the Giants getting Jackson tar Well,
you know Jackson dart back in the game against Kentucky,
and he will break down everything. Is just an unbelievable machine.

(30:10):
I'm glad to be a teammate of his. Wasn't good
enough to be an athletic teammate of his, but at
least on the said. Oh, and I ran into Coach
Holmgren last night the Salt of the Earth. Great guy,
and I love to hear his stories the best. And
you know your big time, Chris, when you're running a
coach Homegren at the Seahawks and the cafeteria whatever it

(30:32):
was eating facility and you walk outside and you see
the wall of honor right next to my guy Cortes
Kennedy from the U, there's Mike home Grid. It's like,
oh man, that's when you know your big time. All right,
that's the what do you say text of the day.
Somebody said one more thing. I'm gonna throw one more
in there. Jalen Milroe would fill the Taysom Hill roll. Okay,

(30:55):
all right, I wouldn't mind a future Taysom Hill here.
I just don't trust him with his own That's all
I'm saying. I don't think he's very that accurate. All Right,
we will talk to we hopefully talk to the mayor
of Maple Valley. Get ready to broadcast live from the
Virginia Mason Athletic Center next right here on MJ in
the midday. All right, Thanks to Nick baumb Gardner from

(31:20):
the athletic draft analysts and also high school football coach
for Gray's Abel Steve Steele from Pierre, South Dakota joining
us as well. Christopher Kid, excellent job by Toy. You
also just want to say that Ian Ferness. We can
hear him right now live. He's coming on between one
and three. Hey Hey, by the way, Hey Ian, Hey yesterday. Yeah, no,

(31:47):
I got another one for you every single break yesterday
because I was out there during the Softy Dick and
Hugh extravagance every break. This kid was filling in a
little bit for Jackson up until five. Hey kid, you
got that sound? Could you get this kid? You get
that sound?

Speaker 1 (32:00):
You got this? I'm like, whoa, whoa.

Speaker 6 (32:02):
It's like a Jerry Springer episode. And if you remember
that show back in the day, yes, like chairs flying,
people yelling at each other, orders being barked. Yeah, we
we handled things a wee bit different from one to three.
It's just a little more laid back. Yeah, it wasn't yesterday.
I'll admit this. I had Jessman about ready to kill
me yesterday. Yeah, this time yesterday with the Wi Fi

(32:23):
outage at Iheart's nationwide. You know, good day for that
to happen. And I'm saying that. It's not like we're
the only sports station in the old iHeart radio. Oh no,
there's about thirty radio. Oh yeah, the country that were
like really today's day that we're gonna screw that.

Speaker 1 (32:40):
Up right right?

Speaker 5 (32:42):
Yeah? Yeah, Hey, hey, I like telling Jess I don't care,
just just make it happen.

Speaker 1 (32:46):
Done that before, Jess, I got you back. Jess came through,
you know, that's what she made it right.

Speaker 5 (32:52):
And I've never done that. No, you don't.

Speaker 3 (32:55):
But I understood the urgency as much as you did, right,
And so I was.

Speaker 1 (32:59):
I think I wrote, I'm the bleep aware Jess.

Speaker 2 (33:03):
Yes you came, we had Yeah. Hey, hey, Jess, you're
the Francisco Lindor of kJ R.

Speaker 5 (33:10):
I'll take that, yes you will.

Speaker 2 (33:12):
Or Peter Alonzo, you take your pick, okay, whatever you
want to be.

Speaker 5 (33:16):
All right.

Speaker 6 (33:17):
Wait, by the way, you guys, see, I'm with you
to day crosstalk. You're chirping me yesterday about not being
with you yesterday.

Speaker 2 (33:21):
Oh no, but there's now I know, no, I know
why you listen. You had more important things like making
sure Earl Thomas and Dan Quinn were more important than
cross talk with Mark James. Oh, that was unbelievable. That
was a Hey, Ian, A couple of things I want
to get to. You know this or I mentioned this,
uh mel kiper dying on the hill? That is should
dor standers? Will this be his beano cook Ron Paulus moment?

Speaker 5 (33:47):
Yeah it could be.

Speaker 6 (33:48):
Although like he's going to go early today, Yeah he will,
I would think, I mean, because there's a bunch of
teams that need quarterbacks and you know, the drop off
from him to Shuck is pretty signific, and I think, yeah,
but I mean he's a Day two guy, and he's
a he's a second round guy, and that's you know,
that certainly wasn't the plan by the family and the
coach and everything else. And not too I think it's

(34:11):
my buddy Steve Pelos, although I think is the one
that tweeted it maybe with somebody else that said, you know, it's.

Speaker 5 (34:15):
A first in the NFL draft.

Speaker 6 (34:17):
A guy who's had his player retired didn't get drafted
on day one of the NFL draft.

Speaker 1 (34:22):
That's an awesome Hey, Yeah, that's good.

Speaker 5 (34:27):
Hey.

Speaker 2 (34:27):
I want to just say, you guys, you rob rang
Steve pelsall like like softy Dick Hugh Coach Holmgren watching
you guys yesterday, I was just say hi, Rob, Rob,
Rob Rang is excellent at his job. Listen, all you
guys did a phenomenal job. I can't wait to listen
on my way home today. And you know what, I

(34:48):
should probably just stop by it Renton, just just at
the at the Virginia Mason Athletics Center, just for the food.

Speaker 1 (34:55):
The food was elite.

Speaker 5 (34:57):
Uh Ian.

Speaker 1 (34:58):
But you guys do a great job, and and we do.

Speaker 2 (35:00):
I mean, this is really I've listened to all stations
in a bunch of different markets. Nobody does it like
you know, ninety three to three kJ R f M
for draft covered. So I'll be looking forward to listen
to all that and and hearing it, and you know,
hearing coach coach Holmgren talk about you know, Zabel, Hey,
I brought Donovan Jackson. I would have gone Donovan Jackson.
But it is what it is. Man, Hey, one more

(35:21):
thing we can relate on before we go. Are you
happy for cam Ward?

Speaker 5 (35:26):
Sure?

Speaker 1 (35:26):
Okay, well, well all right.

Speaker 2 (35:31):
Not exactly arousing arousing ador No, that's true. You're right,
that's a good point.

Speaker 6 (35:38):
There's a legendary waz You guy named Jack Thompson throwing some.

Speaker 1 (35:42):
Yeah, see what's the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Speaker 6 (35:44):
Yeah, throwing some has a great line and I and
I'm with them one hundred percent. You're with us or
you're not with us, as simple as that, you're one
of us, you're not one of us. And really as
soon as you leave, that's thanks for coming, buddy, you know,
like guys like so we see last year all the
one guy I rooted for, I'll say one guy rooted
for last year is uh Ruben Chinneylou.

Speaker 5 (36:03):
From when we went to Florida.

Speaker 6 (36:05):
Yeah, because he's a true student athlete and I understand
where he came from and why he went there, and
that was the one guy.

Speaker 5 (36:12):
That was the one guy. He's going to be a
doctor here pretty quick.

Speaker 6 (36:15):
And you know part of our medical school at Wazoo,
which is kind of tailor made for kids like him
and where they come from.

Speaker 5 (36:20):
And and so I rooted a little bit for him.
But you know what, buy and large you leave, thanks
for coming. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (36:25):
No, I feel you there, I feel you there.

Speaker 5 (36:28):
I do laugh.

Speaker 6 (36:29):
I do laugh because every highlight I saw from Wazoo
and Cam camp Ward from wazoo. Every highlight I saw
was him throwing deep posts or long passes to one.
Kyle Williams, the same guy every time with massive separation.
So you know, I'm hoping Kyle goes pretty early today
because he did stick around for us.

Speaker 2 (36:45):
All Right, we got this guy in for neest. Coming
up next, Ian, just real quick, fifty to fifty two? Uh,
player or position? What are you looking for?

Speaker 5 (36:52):
I'm not, I mean Antecks. I got Rob Well.

Speaker 1 (36:56):
Hey, Rob rang the whole time.

Speaker 2 (36:57):
Hey, Hey, Rob Rang, Elijah Arroyo, j Aiden Higgins or
Mason Taylor.

Speaker 5 (37:01):
Well.

Speaker 2 (37:02):
I want to get his thoughts on that on the
Ian Fernaz Show coming up next right here between one
and three, and then Softy Dick Hugh, Coach Holmgren and
everybody the best draft coverage in the business right here
on ninety three to three KJR FM
