Speaker 1 (00:00):
We're gonna have Damien Martinez, the newest Seattle Seahawk running
back who was drafted the seventh round out of the
U coming up in just a matter of minutes. So
I want to go in the meantime and just say, whore,
Hey Polanco, three letters, MVP, MVP, MVP. This dude is

(00:21):
on absolute fire right now. Two home runs last night,
could have had three. It almost was three, And I
mean is just absolutely knocking the ball all over the
park and it's awesome to see. He's the one. You
know that Mariner's bullpen, aside from Andres Munnjosen Gabes fire

(00:45):
absolutely sucks, but Jorge Polanco does not. He is tremendous.
He is the guy that is truly this team's MVP.
And I know, I know, I know, what are we
right now? Twenty nine games in the season. I get it.
But if you had to do an MVP vote through
the first month of the season, he'd have to be

(01:07):
at the top of the list, right you got to
put him up there with Aaron Judge and the best
players in the American League so far. And it's great
to see. Who would have thought that re signing of
Jorgee Polanco would have resulted in what you're seeing right
now for the ends, and it's it's great to see
dude's batting nearly four hundred, four hundred almost right now.

(01:32):
And again it's early, but it's great to see. And
the Mariners, I mean, wow, they just continue to get
it done. Being another divisional opponent last night in the Angels,
and one of the things that sort of like stood
out to me too as much as the Mariners look
good and the bullpen almost they were they were they
wanted to blow it last night. Yeah, they did. They

(01:55):
were trying to blow it last night, but Hojorye Polanco
said no, I'm gonna put this team on my back.
And then and then of course Andres Munos coming in
for the save. As we mentioned, the gentleman who's the
newest running back from the Seattle Seahawks was drafted in
the seventh round out of my school. The You you

(02:15):
know him because he used to kick the crap out
of the Huskies and the Cougars when he was with
Oregon State for three years. His name is Damie Martinez. Damien,
I just want to tell you on behalf of Sports
Radio ninety three to three KJRFM, and being a fellow
University of Miami alum myself. Welcome to Seattle. How's it
feel to be a Seahawk?

Speaker 2 (02:38):
That was amazing. I'm the best opportunity. Ready to get
to work.

Speaker 1 (02:42):
Yeah, absolutely so. I saw an article yesterday by our
good buddy Greg Bell in the Tacoma News Tribune. You
refer to yourself as best mood two point zero. You
ready to put that pressure on your shoulders.

Speaker 2 (02:56):
No, I'm ready. It ain't no pressure at all. I'm
ready to get to work.

Speaker 3 (02:59):
Like I said, just get up there and do what
I'd do with the team and connect with.

Speaker 1 (03:03):
Him, no question about. Now you're listen. I looked at
I watched you all season long, and I watched you
at times, and you're too young to have watched the
guy by the name of Bo Jackson. There are games,
dam and I remember a specific I think it was
against Louisville where you were just making defenders bounce off
of you like you had a cheat code in a
Madden game. Uh and and so it's so like I

(03:26):
watched you and I'm like, oh man, this guy's gonna
be at least a top three round pick. You had
the combine and you fell to the seventh round. So
what was your reaction falling so far? Because I felt
as though that you should have been and drafted at
least in the first four rounds.

Speaker 2 (03:42):
I mean, that is what it is at this point,
you know.

Speaker 3 (03:45):
I mean I'm not really too worried about it. Like
I said, just ready to get back to football.

Speaker 2 (03:50):
Yeah, that's really it.

Speaker 1 (03:52):
Yeah. So you were Quota yesterday saying, uh, physical runner,
got another Beast mode two point zero coming up here.
Get ready to see it. Uh, And then you went
on to say I was definitely a fan of Beast
Moode growing up, just being always being a bigger back.
Tell me what Marshaun Lynch means to you and what
it was like for you to idolize him growing up.

Speaker 3 (04:15):
I mean, it's just crazy myself being a Seahawk, you know,
just kind of like I said, there's a physical runner,
y'all going to see it on the table. It just
kind of speaks for itself, is what I'm bringing.

Speaker 2 (04:24):
To the table. Was when I'm put on the putt
on the field next year.

Speaker 1 (04:28):
So when you were at Oregon State for three years,
what what made you transfer to Miami for your final
year in school.

Speaker 2 (04:37):
I was at Oregon State for two years.

Speaker 3 (04:38):
I did in my junior or here in Miami. But
I mean you said, what went into it?

Speaker 1 (04:45):
Yeah? What what was the reason did cam Ward recruit you? Uh?
What was the reason? You know?

Speaker 2 (04:50):
Like?

Speaker 1 (04:50):
What? What? What? What? All of you know? Listen? Listen.
I saw Rick Ross. There's a picture of Rick Ross
okay last night with an all unbelieve safety from the
University of Houston who's entering the portal And I'm like, oh,
he's coming to you. So did Rick Ross close you
like he did cam Ward?

Speaker 2 (05:10):
Nah? No, no, not at all.

Speaker 3 (05:12):
It was just new coat and stuff coming in and
me wanting to show my best self just overall what
I could do and everything and just every aspect of
the games.

Speaker 2 (05:19):
It would it went into it.

Speaker 1 (05:21):
So what did you learn more most about yourself? Having
played in the PAC twelve and then moving to the ACC.
What did you learn in terms of you know, facing
and going from one coast to another.

Speaker 3 (05:35):
I really just learned about myself, I say, really, just
what I could really do. Just I mean I believe
in myself at first, but you know, just coming in
with a new offense and run the edd just running
a complete new scheme, just showing myself kind of pushing
into a new limit, you know, just showing myself what
I could really do. And I guess it really did
help me for the next level too, you know, meeting
with all the other teams and stuff like that. Just

(05:57):
being able to speak in every term, just you know,
being able to run to different offenses, a different rbage
and stuff like that.

Speaker 1 (06:03):
Jamien Martinez, newest Seattle Seahawks running back, joining us here
on MJ in the midday life from Jimmy's on First,
across the street from your soon to be future home,
Loomen Field. Uh, Damien in terms of the Seahawks, and
you talk to Mike McDonald, but I'm more specifically, I'm
talking about Clint Kubiak that you know, the guy who's
gonna come in and be your OC. How do you

(06:26):
see you being a part of this offense now? Because
there's a new quarterback here in Sam Darnold, and now
you've got Hooper Cup and markis Valdez Gantling. Where does
Damien Martinez fit in within this zone blocking outside scheme?

Speaker 3 (06:43):
I mean, like I said, I went, like you said earlier,
I went to Oregon State for two years we ran
this kind of you know offense, same.

Speaker 2 (06:48):
Kind of thing. So just sew, I'm ready.

Speaker 3 (06:50):
It's just on te you what I can do in
this kind of offense, and just it's gonna be it's
gonna be shown next year. Like I said, to be
ready to see it all.

Speaker 1 (06:57):
Right now, Kenneth Walker, right now is RB one? How
long do you envision you getting to that spot? Because
obviously you're not coming in the league. You got a
lot to prove. Your seventh round pick, yeah, and you're
not coming the league just to take a spot. You
want that spot? How long do you think it would
take for you to get to be RB one.

Speaker 3 (07:14):
I'm not really too concerned with that right now, you know,
just kind of just want to get into the get
into the team, connect with everybody, you know, play special team,
just get on the sail wherever I can at first,
and just you know, work my way.

Speaker 2 (07:25):
Like you said, I got a lot to prove.

Speaker 1 (07:27):
So you're willing to play special teams too and contribute
that way as well? Right?

Speaker 2 (07:32):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (07:32):
No, of course I could just do whatever, do whatever
the coach as you know what I mean, I'm gonna
get it done. Just whatever, cause me, I'm gonna get
it done to my best ability.

Speaker 1 (07:39):
All right, Damien. So, uh, this is a great situation
for you, and you're coming in here and you're you're
part of a winning an organization that does things the
right way. Uh. They they should be a playoff team
this upcoming season. And you know, speaking of the playoffs,
I it would kill me if I if I didn't
ask you this. Nick Saban, you know that guy, right

(07:59):
mean you've heard it, Okay. He came out and said
something about the University of Miami and he said, quote,
if Miami played any defense last season, they would have
won a national championship. Your thoughts to that statement.

Speaker 2 (08:13):
I mean, I don't really got too much to say
about that. I can't really say nothing about that, you
know what I mean. This is just a team game.
You know, we didn't get it done in the team So.

Speaker 1 (08:21):
Yeah, yeah, I oh, I know, twenty one nothing lead
versus Syracuse and oh, I know, I mean all season
long it was and I felt bad because I have
a lot of people, Damien. I don't know if you
know this that they're asking me. Cam Ward, Elijah Royo, Restrepo.
You look at all these guys that are in the

(08:42):
dread Jalen Rivers, Damion Martinez. How did y'all not make
the playoffs? Damien? What happened? And I say, it's because
the defense couldn't stop a nosebleed? And it's true. I've
never seen a worse defense in the history of college football.
And I felt bad, and I felt bad that Mario
Cristobal wasted the number one overall pick in the draft.

(09:06):
Cam Ward Waste wasted that offense. You Isaiah Horton, Jacoby
George Arroyo, Elijah Lofton. I mean, did you ever just
come in the locker room and be like, wt F,
can you guys actually make a stop? Or No?

Speaker 3 (09:22):
No, I don't ever think it came to that. We
just always believed in each other. I mean that was
the real the end of the day, just always hiving
each other up. You know, they would be on a
few when we're out on there during time mouse be
on a few and they during time houses encouraging each other.
It was I mean, games having how they happened, and
as a team we ain't getting doing all.

Speaker 1 (09:39):
Right, Damien wilsten Man, we appreciate you making time. Welcome
to Seattle a lot. You and Elijah're gonna love it.
You're part of a world class organization and they do
things the right way here and be ready to win,
and we'll look forward to By the way, can you
tell everybody what number are you gonna be?

Speaker 2 (09:56):
I'll be rocking at twenty two?

Speaker 1 (09:58):
Twenty two? All right, so pretty soon listen, I'm looking
outside Loomingfield right now. I see Boy Mafey, Kenneth Walker,
Charles Cross. I want to see your mural out there
sometime after next season. But you got to earn that,
all right, twenty two. We appreciate man, Damie Martinez, the Seahawks,
thanks again for joining us.

Speaker 2 (10:18):
Thank you all right?

Speaker 1 (10:19):
Derry is uh nah. I had to get that in, man.
Can you tell him a little sore and bitter? I mean,
how you waste the number one overall pick in the draft?
How do you waste Camard? How do you waste that?
By the way, the most prolific offense in NC double
A history. It's statistically it's there. But he's got a
good attitude, he's he's got the you know, the right

(10:39):
frame of mine. I was trying to, you know, press
him on the stand a little bit with the you know,
the prosecution, but he didn't fold under questioning. So uh, listen,
I hope he's he's gonna end up finding his mark here.
You come in as his seventh round pick. He's got
a great attitude. I'm gonna play special teams. I'm gonna
do whatever the coaches asked me to do. That's absolutely

(11:00):
what you gotta do. But I'm still sore. I'm still
sore about missing that playoff and I will always be.
I just don't understand how you waste the number one
overall pick in the draft and you can't get a
defense that can stop the girl scouts. So there's that.
Damie Martinez. We appreciate him joining us here on m
Jane in the midday. Getting back though to the Mariners.

(11:23):
I love what I'm seeing so far. I gotta tell
you listen, and I will tell you when I was
here three weeks ago. So today's April thirtieth. So I
was here on April ninth, and before I flew to Vegas,
this team was squandering. This team was faltering. This team
they I believe they were coming off that loss to

(11:45):
the Astros the night before and extra innings and they
couldn't get anyone over from second base from in the tenth, eleventh,
and twelfth innings. Since then, this team's won thirteen out
of seventeen games. They're on fire, absolute fire. So since
my rant at Jimmy's on first three weeks ago, today
the Mariners are on fire. No rants anymore. Don't eat

(12:08):
to rant when you're playing well, I give you nothing
but praise. I will sit here in genuflect and talk about,
you know, how great this team is playing. And here's
the thing that is the most surprising about the twenty
twenty five Seattle Mariners. They're doing it with their offense.

(12:29):
The guys that we wanted to rely on. That the
pitching staff. I mean you look at George Kirby hasn't
pitched one ending this year. Still waiting for him to
come back, hopefully sooner than later. We're still waiting on
an update there. Logan Gilbert just goes to the fifteen
day IL with an elbow flexer strain, which is somewhat

(12:49):
reminiscent of Robbie Ray a couple of years ago. I
hope it's not that, but I have a feeling the
fifteen day DL could end up being a month in
maybe two months. But I hope I'm wrong. I'm not
a doctor and I don't play one on the radio.
But it's the offense and that's the thing. Timely hitting.

(13:09):
There's a stat last night Randy A. Rose Arena has
the third highest on base percentage in the American League,
only behind Aaron Judge and somebody else. They're getting on base,
they're finding a way to manufacture runs, and I didn't
see it. I thought when Robless and Bliss went down,

(13:31):
I thought, oh, this team is in trouble. They lost
their leadoff guy. Uh, oh, you know what's about to hit?
The fan hasn't been that way Polanco cal I mean
Ben Williamson at the hot corner. What a play he
made last night towards the end of the game to
get a crucial out. He's been even doing it at
the play. D Moore, Dylan Moore, I didn't see it.

(13:54):
I just didn't. I want looked at this lineup like
you did. I'm like, where the HiT's gonna come from,
where the run's gonna come from, And somehow, someway they're
doing it. And that's maybe why I will give Gerard
to Poto credit on this a change needed to be made,
and it was made at the end of last season

(14:15):
with Scott Servis gone in for Dan Wilson, and I
think you are starting to see the residual effects of
that decision right now. Dan Wilson is a I mean,
he's obviously a huge hometown hero here and a guy
that is I mean as much of a Mariner as
the Trident itself. And maybe that new voice in the

(14:38):
clubhouse has been able to get more out of these
guys sometimes it all. I mean, Scott Service had nearly
a decade yet nine years here and maybe it's Dan Wilson.
Maybe it's him the guy that has been the difference
in terms of where this team was able to get
to one time in Scott's Service's tenure, to the playoffs

(15:02):
in twenty twenty two, and now with Dan Wilson, this
team looks like they're the best in the West, and
they might be the best team in the American League.
We'll find out as the season rolls on. Obviously we
know they're still one hundred and thirty something games to go.
Totally understand it. But something changed from that date three

(15:25):
weeks ago. Last night, so it would have been April eighth.
After that loss, something change and they won six straight series,
trying to make it a seventh. Today. By the way,
I'm gonna head on over to the ballpark today. I
don't have to fly out of town right now. Before
I do, I'm gonna grab a Seattle Dog or I'm

(15:46):
gonna grab a nice smashburger here from Jimmy's on first.
Maybe the chicken cop salad which Ian Ferness got me
just he was eating one day. I'm like, oh, I
gotta have that with the candy bacon. But come on
by and say hello. So it's gonna be a beautiful
day at the ballpark. No rain, no rain. So my
first Mariners game, not ever, I was at Safeco Field

(16:09):
in twenty sixteen when I filled in for Softy, but
my first Mariners game of the twenty twenty five season.
Looking forward to seeing Emerson Hancock get the chance to
make this seven straight winning series. How about those ms unbelievable.

(16:30):
Gary Hill will join us coming up at the top
of next hour. The voice of the Mariners will be
friend of the show. We'll talk to him. Coming up next,
the Seahawks draft class raises the floor. In twenty twenty five,
but it also has a sky high ceiling. So you'll
find out which players next have that ceiling on MJ

(16:52):
in the Midday on ninety three to three KJRFM Live
from Jimmy's on First about the Angels and specifically one player.
What happened to Mike Trout. I mean, this guy came
to the league, he won three MVPs in his first
five seasons. I believe he had like one of the

(17:15):
highest wars to start a career in Major League Baseball history.
You talk about a guy not batting his weight one
seventy three, and I know he's been hurt and hampered
by injuries and all that, but man, is this guy.
I mean he he probably will get in the Hall
of Fame. I mean, yeah, he's a surefire Hall of Famer.

(17:35):
But I mean it's been a minute, it's been a
minute since Mike Trout did anything in baseball. He's just
not him anymore. He's not even close to being him.
It's just, man, you watch him now and it's almost
like painful, really painful. So the Seahawks have a bunch

(17:56):
of players. Let's start with Grey's Abel who have very
high ceilings. So for Zabel. It looks like which, barring
some unforeseen circumstances like an injury in training camp or
whatever in a preseason, he's gonna be the day one

(18:18):
starting guard. And if he's not a bust, and hope
he's not, he should be that guy for the next
ten to fifteen years. You hope he's the Zach Martin
of Seattle, exactly what Zach Martin was for the Dallas Cowboys.
You want that for grays Abel, mate, that would be
a huge, absolute monster, home run draft pick. Our guy

(18:45):
Nick Baumgartner from The Athletic says it was the best
pick of the first round. I think he even said
maybe the best pick of the draft. So from that standpoint,
it's just, yeah, that's like grays Abel. I mean he
should be as advertised. You know my thoughts on Donovan Jackson,
but Gray's Abel is him Elijah Royo. First round talent,

(19:10):
first round potential, hampered by injuries his sophomore in junior
year at Miami, But a guy you could look back
in three to five years and say, Wow, best tight
end in that draft. Better than Colson Lovelin, better than
Tyler Warren, better than Mason Taylor. The son of Jason Taylor,

(19:32):
nephew of Zach Thomas and Joy Taylor. The better than
Gunner Helm, better than every tight end in his draft.
He's got You watch him, and I mean he's got
the physical skills, extremely athletic. I'm not going to compare
him the brock Bowers because brock Bowers is one of one,
but Elijah Royo has some brock Bowers like tenancies, so

(20:00):
his ceiling is the sky. Jylen Milroe another guy, ceiling, limitless, unlimited,
the sky for Jaln Milroe. If he can somehow find
a way to throw passes accurately, he could be unbelievable

(20:23):
in third and one and fourth and one situations, goal
line situations. He's the guy. He should be. Seattle's Jalen
Hurts and maybe a get a couple of the big
uglies behind him, or you know, some of the big
d linemen they push him right through, that could be
a play. Maybe John Schneider and Mike McDonald not voting

(20:46):
against the QB push was a good thing. Milroe. According
to Dame Bruler, as he wrote in his Straft Guide,
he is a dynamic athlete with a unique blend of speed, arm,
strength and intelligence, making him an intriguing developmental option for
patient coaching staff. That's what you've got to be. Mike McDonald,

(21:10):
asked about Milroe, said, quote, we don't use patients a
lot around here. There's always going to be an urgency
and how we're developing our players, how we're training them,
Jalen is going to be right there with everybody else.
End quote. Now McDonald's according to the Athletic went on

(21:31):
to imply that now Sam Donald will play most of
the snaps, Milroe will have an opportunity to earn a
unique role in certain situations. Schneider added and said we
add an explosive weapon while Milroe develops at quarterback. But

(21:53):
then he went on to say Milroe is not the
new Taysom Hill. Quote. The way the Aints used Taysoon
Hill was more in a tight and full back hybrid role,
sometimes taking snaps. Jalen is a quarterback through and through.
McDonald said, he is going to be trained to play

(22:14):
quarterback for us. When he's in there, He's gonna be
playing quarterback, but his athleticism is going to come to
life when he's on the field. End quote. Why do
I have a feeling I don't know what number Jalen
Milroe is gonna be. I don't Why do I have
a feeling that Jalen Milroe could end up being the

(22:36):
crown jewel of this draft class for the Seahawks. Why
do I have this? I have this feeling that you're
gonna be seeing a lot of Jalen Milroe jerseys on
little kids and grown men, which, well, I certainly have
an issue with about anybody above the age of thirty
five years old wearing a grown man wearing a younger

(22:57):
guy's jersey is a little bit well sketchy. That's a
that's a subject for a whole other, uh segment and show.
But I have a feeling Jalen Milroe is gonna become
this sort of I like, I don't want to say iconic,
that'd be putting a lot on him. But he's gonna
become like this player that everyone and when he comes

(23:18):
out in the field, everybody's gonna stand up. Not that
people are sitting down at Luominfield, but I mean everybody's
gonna stand up. But I'm talking about people in their
living rooms watching. Oh, he's in the game, Jalen's in
the game. Here we go. I just have a feeling
that that he They're gonna have a lot of special
packages design for him. And here's a guy that you know,

(23:43):
I compare him to Jalen Hurts, another former Alabama quarterback.
The ranting super Bowl MVP. He's also friends with Jalen Milroe.
And who knows, maybe one day Jalen Hurts, second round
pick future Super Bowl V finished second in the regular
MVP a couple of years ago. Maybe Jalen Milroe goes

(24:06):
down that. Now here's the issue. Jalen Hurts went to Oklahoma.
He bawled out. I mean he not only won a
national title at Alabama, he was a Heisman Trophy finalist
at Oklahoma as well, after Baker Mayfield. So I haven't

(24:27):
seen that on Jalen Milroe. I called him can't throw Milrow.
When I say can't throw Millrow, I mean he can't
throw accurately. He threw five touchdown passes in the SEC
SEC games. He lost to Vanderbilt. He lost to a
trash Oklahoma team that had no business. Do you know
how many points Alabama scored against Oklahoma on the road

(24:49):
three They lost twenty four to three when Oklahoma had
nothing but pride to play for that game. So for me,
I gotta see more of Milroe. But I am intrigued.
I mean, I'm very intrigued. Jalen Milroe is He's an
X factor. He is an X factor, and I think

(25:11):
he's gonna be one of the crowd favorites with the twelves,
whatever number he is, I think he's gonna sell a
lot of jerseys. So they're gonna find ways to get
him involved. And then ultimately you look at some of
the other guys that they took in this draft. Horton,
the wide receiver out of Colorado State. Maybe one day,

(25:35):
if he's developed the right way, he becomes the new
Tyler Lockett, a guy that can come in there as
a two, maybe a three, and be here for a decade.
Be a guy that you can count on that you know,
like death and taxes, is there every single year. Tyler
Lockett in a decade, ten years of football here with

(25:55):
the Seahawks, missed one game. You know how many games
Rob gronk Kowski missed in a decade. His first decade
with the Patriots, he missed more than I think he averaged,
missing at least a game a month. His entire career,
at least it felt that way it did. He wasn't

(26:16):
even on the field, He didn't even he wasn't even
part of the Patriots run that ended up coming back
down twenty eight to three in the third quarter again
in the Super Bowl. And that's the thing about Rob
Gronkowski and I had because in terms of when he
was on the field, he was much more dominating than
Travis Kelcey, much more dominating than any tight in NFL history,

(26:39):
even Tony Gonzalez, who still underrated in my opinion. And
Tony Gonzalez doesn't get mentioned anymore the way he should
because he's been out of the game for over a
decade now. But Tony Gonzalez was the first guy that
opened the door for great athlete. He was a basketball
player at Cal Berkeley, and he ended up being one

(27:01):
of the greatest tight ends in NFL history. Oh, by
the way, something you might not know about Tony Gonzalez,
since you didn't know last week, that Jay Moore is
married to Jeanie Buss, the owner of the Lakers, Tony
Gonzalez his ex Lauren Sanchez, the current wife of Amazon
founder and owner Jeff Bezos. They have a kid together

(27:23):
and their kid. I believe it's his son is going
to the University of Miami next year. So just a little,
a little nugget there on Tony Gonzalez there, but unbelievable
this class. And I look at I've only been here
less than three months, so I look at everything with
an objective perspective. But it's nice to see when the

(27:44):
athletic When other draft experts say things about this class
like top five, top three, I would say consensus top
three overall. I think the Patriots had a great draft class,
but I think the Seahawks are right there with them
of getting the best players at the biggest needs thought.

(28:04):
The Seahawks absolutely nailed it out of the park like
a wore Hey Polanco home run. So John Schneider and
I'm gonna go you one further and I want I
wanted to, I'm doing it, and I'm going through comprehensively
right now, thirty two NFL teams off seasons. We're talking

(28:28):
about firings, hirings, free agents, free agents, sign free agents,
cut draft. Who's had a better off season than Seattle Seahawks.
I'll wait, I'll wait, who's had a better off season

(28:49):
than your Seattle Seahawks. I can't think of anybody. The
Rams haven't, Cleveland certainly hasn't. I mean, I can start
going down and Patriots Gate over paid for Stefan Diggs,
and we're talking the totality of everything. Okay, we're talking about,
you know, getting rid of Gino Smith for a third

(29:11):
round pick, turning that third round pick into Jalen Milroll.
That is genius trading dk Metcalf using that pick to
move up to take Elijah Arroyo, who has had a
better off season than the Seattle Seahawks. Tell me somebody
out there convinced me, convince me that another franchise in

(29:34):
the NFL. Let's go down, the Colts, the Jags, the Raiders,
the Raider. Actually, let me stop there for a second.
I gotta admit, Raiders have had a pretty good offseason,
really actually really good. I love what they did in
the draft hiring Pete Carroll. I mean they got Geno
Smith for just a third round pick. Right, So, Raiders
Seahawks probably the best off seasons of any teams in

(29:57):
the National Football League. Coming out to Jimmy's on first
get some of the great food. Man. We got you
have Smash Burger. I haven't had a better burger in
Seattle since I've been here than the Smashburger here at
Jimmy's on First. And I'm just saying, and I've been
to a lot of places. Okay, I'll talk to Gary Hill.
He's gonna be disappointed to find out that I haven't

(30:19):
gone to Frisco Freeze yet. We'll talk to him at
the top of the hour. But come on out, get
the chicken cop salad. They got a bunch of great
drinks here. We're gonna be out here until one o'clock
and I'm gonna head on over right across the street
to the ballpark to see the Mariners when hopefully they're
seventh straight series. Wow, when this guy says that you're

(30:40):
two cocky, you might need to change something in your life.
And boy, it's never a good thing when they make
a document documentary about you and the word fall, Isn't
it hitting to All Fields? On MJ in the Midday
on ninety three to three KGRM Live It Jimmy's on First,

(31:01):
Coming up, alright is MJ and the Midday on Sports
Radio ninety three three KJAR from our favorite place Jimmy's
on first cross the street from T Mobile Park, part
of the Silver Cloud Hotel, my residence for the first
month of my life here in Seattle as a resident.

(31:24):
So we're gonna have Gary Hill it's coming up in
about just over ten minutes voice of the Mariners, and
talk about this red hot team which is just on fire.
All right. You know, I don't I mean, listen, I
don't mind swagger. There are t shirts that came out
Jesus about fifteen or sixteen years ago that that down

(31:49):
in Miami that said that you invented swagger. I like
swagger when swagger is backed up by results. Other if
it's not backed up by results, then you're just the punk. Well.
Cam Newton apparently feels the same way about former Colorado
quarterback and projected first round pick and who ended up

(32:11):
going in the fifth round, Shouldure Sanders.

Speaker 4 (32:14):
Sedure first off, I gotta hold him accountable, right, Travis Hunter.

Speaker 1 (32:20):
Is what we would think.

Speaker 4 (32:22):
Should do is supposed to be. Travis Hunter is polished
like a quarterback. Shadur is always got this meme mother
look on his face, like he always snob is looking.
You know what I'm saying. I've met shoulder multiple times
where I'm like, I'm looking at it like okay, it's
just like you know what I mean, you know what

(32:42):
I'm saying. He always like and he always in character
for it.

Speaker 1 (32:45):
He like, I gotta portray it like I'm gonna do.

Speaker 2 (32:47):
Look.

Speaker 4 (32:48):
My whole thing with Shadur is this what when can
he hang?

Speaker 2 (32:53):
Like?

Speaker 4 (32:53):
What performance?

Speaker 1 (32:54):
Can you hang your head on?

Speaker 4 (32:55):
Can you hang your head on? In college?

Speaker 1 (33:01):
I love it. I love I never thought I'd said
love something coming out of Cam Newton's mouth, but I
love it. Baby. It's right. Give me one Colorado State.
That's the one that you're hey, listen and there's coming
from a guy. Let me sing his praises. Cam Kentucky
because he did the hat trick and one year at
Auburn he was there, one year he went undefeated, he

(33:24):
won the Heisman. He actually more than a hat trick.
He beat his biggest rival, who were the reigning national
champion Alabama Crimson Tide. They were down twenty four to
three on the road in Tuscaloosa, and Cam Newton led
them back to a win, and then he went on
to win the national championship. Sorry to say this, folks,

(33:48):
for you Oregon fans out there against the Ducks because
the Ducks the O and Oregon stands for how many
national championships that they'd won. So Cam couldn't agree with
you more if you That's the thing that will go
with me about Shador. He might have his daddy's name,
but he doesn't have his daddy's game. All right. There's

(34:10):
a documentary coming up which, well, it's not good for
Brett Farv. Yeah, i'untold about Brett Farv and it's entitled
The Fall of Farv.

Speaker 2 (34:27):
Everybody wish they could be a NFL quarterback.

Speaker 3 (34:29):
You get all the notoriety, you know, you get paid
all the money.

Speaker 2 (34:32):
Brett Fire was a cult like iconic figure.

Speaker 1 (34:35):
People saying he was a football god. There are a
lot of reasons why you might question Brett Farv's inner goodness.
Allegations that he sent lude texts and photos to a
New York Jet employee. Brett Fire ultimately destroyed my life
and the life of Brett Farv. Not everything is what
it seems. He starts to go through life thinking I

(34:55):
can do whatever I want. At what level does that stock?

Speaker 4 (34:58):
I was at a game and someone said that five
wanted a phone number, and.

Speaker 2 (35:03):
I just kept saying no.

Speaker 1 (35:04):
I started getting text messages, and then I started getting voicemails.
When I was like, I'm in serious trouble.

Speaker 2 (35:11):
Herds, I'd come over.

Speaker 3 (35:14):
Not.

Speaker 1 (35:15):
Maybe we shouldn't be surprised that he got caught up
in a federal welfare disappropriation scandal. You take money and
ten for the poorest. I don't know how I sleep
said night. People don't want most of that stuff to
come out.

Speaker 4 (35:30):
People want their heroes.

Speaker 1 (35:32):
When someone shows you who they are, I believe them. Yeah,
all right, let me just say this. So I was
in Tampa, and I know a thing or two about
the woman that the first woman that you heard there,
her name is Jen Sturger. She is a no talent
star for attention, never done anything in her career. Okay,

(35:56):
I'm not defending what Farv did with her. Now, that
stuff with a federal level in Mississippi, stealing money from
the poor, nah, that to me, far Of you need
to behind bars for that. And I don't know why
he isn't behind bars. You do that stuff, and it's proven.
Why is he not in prison right now? That part

(36:16):
I will I will go with on Farv. I never
like Brett Farv, I never did, which so when I
met Mike Comrid, I haven't told colch Holmgrin this, and
you know, it's like I never liked that whole Green
Bay thing, you know, when they were winning and Brett
Farv was winning MVPs and they went to back to
back Super Bowls, they beat the Patriots, they lost to

(36:37):
the Broncos. I never like Brett Farv. I never did.
And if he did what he's being accused of in
Mississippi stealing money from the poor, then my question is
why is he not in prison right now? Why? Because
he should be. He should be behind bars right now
for the rest of his life. You gotta be. You

(37:01):
gotta be some kind of you know, soulless, absolute piece
of you know what, if you're stealing from the needy
when you've made millions and millions of dollars in your career,
that there's a special place in hell for you if
you did that, Brett Favre, I'll leave it at that,

(37:21):
all right. So those are I'm looking forward to that
documentary coming up on Netflix sooner than later. Gary Hill,
Boys of the Mariners, we will talk to him coming
up next and talk about What has changed? What has
changed from three weeks ago in the loss to the
Astros in extra innings. In this team has won thirteen

(37:42):
of the last seventeen games. Gary Hill next live at
Jimmy's on first on MJ in the midday Sports Radio
ninety three to three KJR
