Speaker 1 (00:00):
And we have hyped this guy all so long. He
was on my flight the other night.

Speaker 2 (00:03):
The head coach for the Oregon Ducks just finished his
fifteenth year in Eugene, Dana Altman, coach, Good to have you.
What's it been like for you being here in San Antorio? Obviously,
I know, like most coaches, you want to be getting
ready for tomorrow night. But overall, twenty five wins season,
another successful season there in Oregon. What has it been
like when you look back at your first fifteen years

(00:25):
in Eugene.

Speaker 3 (00:26):
Well, it's been great. I'm a Midwest guy. I grew
up in Nebraska and spent sixteen years at Creighton, but
the fifteen years at Oregon have been great. All my
kids moved out there and so our families together in Eugene.
That's been great. The support from the university has been great.
The move to the Big ten has kind of been

(00:47):
a new adventure for us. After fourteen years and the
Pac ten and Pac twelve, moving to the Big ten
has been kind of exciting.

Speaker 1 (00:56):
A lot of travel, but exciting. And he liked those
trips to ruckers.

Speaker 3 (01:00):
You know we okay, yeah, we were in the Penn State.

Speaker 1 (01:02):
Was our win this year. All right, Okay, yeah, don't worry,
You'll be good and I go there next year there
you go.

Speaker 2 (01:08):
Hey, hey, did you see Mick Cronin's like what he
just basically talk. We've seen the statue of livery three
times the last two weeks.

Speaker 1 (01:14):
Did you see that?

Speaker 3 (01:15):
Mix got something to complain about all the time. But no,
it's uh, it's been different, but it's good. Yeah, and
the change is good. And so the Big ten's going
to be good for all of us out west. You
know what.

Speaker 2 (01:27):
So you were just in Seattle, right a climate Pledge
arena for the first round. The East took care of
Liberty in that unbelievable game against Arizona, and it was
something there, coach where it just felt like, Okay, Arizona
in the Big twelve versus Oregon in the Big ten
in Seattle. No, no, no, no, that's Pack twelve. That's did

(01:48):
did it kind of feel.

Speaker 1 (01:49):
Weird a little bit?

Speaker 3 (01:49):
Absolutely? No?

Speaker 4 (01:50):
No.

Speaker 3 (01:51):
First of all, I want to thank Shadow. And the
tournament was so well run. Our fans were treated so
good at the facility. One of the you know been fortunate,
you know, seventeen to eighteen NCAA tournaments, but We were
treated as well in Seattle as we've been treated in
any NCAA tournament, So big shout out to the people

(02:14):
in Seattle. I thought it was very well run to building,
the facilities unbelievable. I really liked the arena.

Speaker 1 (02:19):
By the way. You think we're ready to have the
Sonics back?

Speaker 2 (02:21):
Wow?

Speaker 3 (02:22):
Yeah, so I think that'd be great for the Northwest. Yeah,
to have Portland and Seattle, you know where you have
a couple of teams out this way, would would really help.
But no, we we had a great year. Really disappointed
with Arizona loss, go twelve for twenty two from the line.
We've been shooting free throws so well all year and

(02:43):
just struggle from the line that particular night. But no,
I enjoyed working with our team, a bunch of good guys,
you know, like any team, had some ups and downs
through the year, but we finished strong and looking forward
to next year. Hopefully the guys that can return will return.
This is kind of a crazy time. I was just
going to ask all coaches, but hopefully everybody comes back.

Speaker 2 (03:04):
Can I tell you this though, out of all the coaches,
ate like Coach Sprinkle even mid today, like he looks
like he hasn't slept in three months.

Speaker 1 (03:10):
You look refreshed to a certain you do like you
look like.

Speaker 2 (03:14):
And it's portal season, so not only maybe some unsigned
players out there in the high school ranks. So you
got to go in the portal. They said, last time
I checked, there was over eighteen hundred players in the portal.
You got to make sure the guys that were on
your team are still want to stay in.

Speaker 1 (03:28):
The What has this been like for you, coach, because.

Speaker 2 (03:30):
You come from that school where Caliperian self, where you
didn't have to go through all this stuff.

Speaker 3 (03:35):
It's it's different. You know, you used to having guys
four or even five years. You know, when I was
at Creton, we read shirted a bunch of guys and
brought them through the system. And early in our years
at Oregon, you know, guys were with us for a
long period of time. But it is definitely changed. You
hope that guys stay. You know, Nate Biddle's been with

(03:56):
us four years. We hope he stays five. Yeah, Jackson
is from again. You'd like to, you know, to keep him.
kJ Evans has had a couple of good years, so
we want to keep our core group together, and we
had a couple of young guys on the team that
didn't get to play as much as they wanted to.
But hopefully they'll stay and develop. But it's not an
exact science. I got a great staff. We're going through

(04:18):
the portal like everybody. We're talking to a lot of guys,
but the most important thing is trying to keep your
core guys there and so you can build year to years,
they're gonna have to start all over again. I think
that's something that you know, is very very important if
you're going to have a certain level of success and continuity,
keep it at a high level. You know, we've won

(04:40):
twenty five each the last two years, been a couple
of NCAA tournaments. You know, if we're going to keep
that going, the guys that have been there and done
that got to come back and show everybody how to
do it.

Speaker 1 (04:51):
No question.

Speaker 2 (04:51):
Dana Altman, head coach of the Oregon Ducks, here on
MJ and the Midday NCAL Sports Leader ninety three to
three KJRFM. So with all that being said, is it
drastically tough because coach Sprinkle was saying he's waiting for
that ruling on Monday, are you also waiting to see
if this is gonna kind of effect where there'll be
contractual employees and if they if they want to leave

(05:13):
your school, they got to have a buyout.

Speaker 3 (05:16):
Well it's I don't know what all the language. Yeah,
but everybody is waiting Monday.

Speaker 1 (05:20):
Okay. See, so that's a big deal.

Speaker 3 (05:22):
Twenty and a half million of the revenue sharing comes through.
That's the big decision on Monday will be whether we
have the twenty point five million next year in revenue
sharing for the sports.

Speaker 1 (05:35):
Okay.

Speaker 3 (05:35):
And that's the big decision that's going to come out
of Monday. And you know, after July one, everything's supposed
to be tightened up with true nil rather than pay
for play, and so that'll be another new thing coming
into effect July one if this ruling has passed on Monday.

Speaker 1 (05:55):
So this is monumental decision.

Speaker 3 (05:57):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, big big book on Monday, whether she
approves what they have structured, because that would mean that
we have revenue sharing next season. So do you want that?
I think it's good for the game, Okay, good. I
think it tightens everything up a little bit. Yeah, So
I think most coaches would agree. We don't want what
we have right now. We don't know if it's going

(06:18):
to be that much better, but it will tighten it
up some. You know, the twenty point five million will
come from the school rather than collectives and so forth.
So I think it will tighten up you know what
we have right now, whether it's you know, you're all well,
I'm not going to go that far. Yeah, there's so
many questions to be answered, but it definitely will tighten

(06:40):
things up.

Speaker 1 (06:41):
I admire you. Listen, you guys.

Speaker 2 (06:42):
Obviously you do very well financially, but I don't envy
the position that all of you are in. And because
your job now is is it's a constant. It's like
a New York City diner. It's twenty four to seven,
there's no off season. You got portal, you got nil,
you got all this stuff. It's just all encompassing. You
faced the Huskies, you swept him this year. What do

(07:05):
you think about Danny Sprinkle in the future of that
program and what he could mean to you?

Speaker 3 (07:09):
Dub oh, he'll he'll do a great job. You know
that Washington's a great situation, great city, great tradition in basketball,
great tradition in football. You know, the Husky is going
to do fine, and Danny's going to do a good job.
You know, I was really close to Lorenzo Romar. Romar,
you know, he was a great guy, like Mike. I

(07:31):
didn't know Mike until he got to Washington, but became
close with him. You know, we're up there in the
Northwest together, you know, I mean, so we have a
kinship and now we have even more because we're playing
you know, the two teams that come out west. You know,
Danny plays one night, I play him two nights later,
yea and vice versa. So no, he's going to do great.

(07:53):
Washington is going to be great. And you know Oregon
Washington that rivalries.

Speaker 1 (07:58):
Yeah, say there's no love loss. I've learned great job.

Speaker 3 (08:03):
So the football is going to be there. Basketball, yeah,
you know, we've always had great games with them, So
you know the ideal thing is we both get really good.
So when those teams from the East come out and play,
they they have a battle against Washington.

Speaker 1 (08:19):
Yeah I know.

Speaker 3 (08:21):
And so then they come to Oregon and they're worn
down a little bit, and vice versus. So I want
Washington to be good in basketball, so they beat up
those teams. We got to play two nights later.

Speaker 2 (08:30):
Fair enough, I got to ask you about the biggest
benefactor to Oregon, Phil Knight, mister Nike. What has it
been like to be associated with him and Nike since
you've been there.

Speaker 3 (08:39):
He's a wonderful man. He's got great vision for the university,
for the state. He's been very supportive always, you know,
trying to help the facilities. Obviously, he and Penny, you know,
have just been so generous, and not only in athletics,
so that's where people have with misconception. He's built a

(09:01):
wonderful research center on campus, the law school library, you know,
I mean, he's involved in everything on campus. But obviously
our arena is named after his son, the track that
he built because he's an.

Speaker 1 (09:18):
Old track guy, yeah, oh yeah. And the football.

Speaker 3 (09:22):
Improvements that's Penny and Phil, mister Knight, and they've done
a wonderful job. So he's been great to be associated
with last fifteen years. Wow, nothing but supportive.

Speaker 2 (09:33):
Okay, Listen, the University of Oregon head coach Dana Altman
wishing Denny Sprinkle and the Husky scene they're gonna be
good and wishing them all the best. So folks and
I can I'm sitting across from It's sincere. Trust me,
it's sincere because you know, people out there there's no
love when it comes to fans. Coach, Listen, I don't
know if we'll be on the same flight back. I'm
out early Sunday morning at five. You're probably not on

(09:54):
that flight in the morning. Okay, if you want prediction
on Monday night.

Speaker 3 (10:02):
You know, I've known Kelvin Sampson for a long time. Yeah,
and he's you know, and I've known Bruce. The two
old coaches I know pretty good. The two young coaches
I don't know. So you know, I'm kind of pulling
for an old man. There you go Monday night. But
like I said, I've known Calvin the longest, you know,
so kind of pulling for him.

Speaker 1 (10:23):
Well, I appreciate that.

Speaker 2 (10:24):
I appreciate you joining me and the fact that, uh,
you know, there's people out here in in the PNW
that maybe even listen to you differently and say that,
you know what, all right, I hate Oregon, but you
know that that basketball coaches he's not so bad now,
Dan Lanning, He's a little different personality to you. He's more, Hey, coach,

(10:45):
I appreciate you making time. I really do. And uh,
we'll see you down the road. I'll see you certainly
next year when you come to Seattle.

Speaker 3 (10:53):
Great.

Speaker 1 (10:53):
And I got to come to Eugene. That's my next bit.
I got to come there for football and basketball.

Speaker 3 (10:57):
Great, great venues in both both places.

Speaker 1 (11:00):
All Right, coach, thanks a lot.

Speaker 2 (11:01):
Dana Altman here on MJ in the midday on kJ
R ninety three three FM.

Speaker 1 (11:07):
All right, so there was Dan Altman.

Speaker 2 (11:09):
I mean, I gotta tell you, you know, you mean
a lot of coaches and interview these guys. And he's
a guy that and I know there's no shortage of
animosity and hostility towards that school in Eugene.

Speaker 1 (11:24):
I get it.

Speaker 2 (11:25):
He's and I ran into him on Saturday class act
sincere genuine and he wants I like even said, he goes,
I want, you know, Washington Danny Sprinkle to do well,
and Danny Sprinkle and Washington will be doing well very soon.
Like I mentioned in the headlines, get ready for this name,
Jacob Agnotzovitch, the player they just landed from Lipscomb in

(11:51):
the portal stud He's got a great recruiting class coming
into high school kids. It's this combo here in Seattle
of Jedfish and Danny Sprinkle are going to provide dividends.

Speaker 1 (12:04):
And you know, here's my thing.

Speaker 2 (12:07):
A lot of people have talked about you know where, Yeah,
it's you know, like look at you know, well everyone.
You know. One of the things I've heard about Jetfish
more than anything is when everyone keeps talking about well,

(12:27):
I just hope he doesn't leave. I hope he doesn't leave. Well,
hold on. In order to leave, you got to be
successful first. And he's building this program. Now what happens ultimately.

Speaker 1 (12:39):
After that? You know who knows?

Speaker 2 (12:42):
You know, his alma mater everybody knows here is the
University of Florida. So but that job's not open, and
they just basically doubled down on Billy Napier, the head
coach there. So just don't worry about things you can't
control in the future and just worry about what's coming
up in the present. And the present is you dub

(13:03):
has two really like potentially great head coaches here with
Danny Sprinkle and Jedfish potentially great and the guys that
and Jedfish will do whatever it takes to win. And
he's an innovator, and I love coaches who call plays
during games. So you know that to me is something

(13:24):
that you know that Jedfish is. You know it's gonna
be time demon Williams. He's the guy we saw that
Will Rogers was not. And it was his first year.
Tough schedule, really tough. You got Ohio State coming in,
you go to Maryland, you get Michigan coming in. It's
it's a really tough schedule. But in year two things

(13:47):
will turn around and you're gonna see I believe a
three win improvement from a year ago. So you're talking
perhaps nine to ten wins there. Okay, So it's I mean,
that's my prediction. All that matters is Saturday, just like

(14:08):
an NFL. All that matters is Sunday. But we'll see
what happens. But you dub is in really good hands
with both of their coaches of their major programs right now.
I can tell you that much. And if you don't
have your Washington Huskies basketball tickets for the men's team,
you need to jump on those asap because this team
is going to be trending upwards and everybody's going to
be wanting to go to those games next year, not

(14:28):
just when Rutgers comes to town with the second and
third pick in the NBA draft, Dylan Harper and Ace Bailey.
I went to that game, and Husky's had a really
good chance. They just didn't have the talent this year.
But the talent is going to be there next year
and it's going to be developed and you'll see.

Speaker 1 (14:45):
You'll see.

Speaker 2 (14:45):
I'm not just saying this, but you will see come
next year. I can see it. And it was great
kitchen up with both of those coaches and Danny Sprinkle,
and I could just tell like it's oh in Today's
supposed to be the big days.

Speaker 1 (15:01):
Danny Sprinkle talked about.

Speaker 2 (15:02):
On the judge's decision on what they're going to do
in the NIL Will this be a where you sign
players to Is it going to be a revenue sharing situation?
Do players get signed to actual contracts if they leave
they want to go to another school and enter the portal,
do they have to buy out that school that they're

(15:23):
leaving to go to another school out of the contract.
I think that's a fair thing that should transpire. So
a lot of things going on right now in the
college football and basketball ranks that need to be decided.
A lot of things, and I'm looking forward to all

(15:43):
of it. I think that it's gotten.

Speaker 1 (15:47):
A little too wild wild West right now.

Speaker 2 (15:50):
I believe that the situation's gotten out of hand to
where you can't control it, can't be regulated. So maybe
this judge's decision today will be something that ultimately happens,
and we'll see. But I'm looking forward to it, and
you should be as well. So thanks to Dana Altman
and Danny Sprinkle who both came on. But things are

(16:11):
looking really good. We got some texts on the text
line how about this must be nice to have a
billionaire funding your team.

Speaker 1 (16:23):
F the Ducks.

Speaker 2 (16:23):
I would never buy Nikes because I don't want to
scent going that slime pit of a team. Hey, keep
that animosity at an all time high. I love it,
I absolutely love it all right, coming up next, I
know there's one hundred and fifty two games to go.
Is it too early to hit the panic button on

(16:45):
the Mariners? You can get the text line four nine
four to five. One also forgot to mention this, but
you know, always look at New York City diner. You
can always text a voice text the show. Go to
the iHeartRadio app look for ninety three to three kg FM,
and then hit the microphone button. Hit right there, you
can leave a voice tech. Is it too early for
the manners to hit the panic button right now? I'll

(17:06):
get to that next. On MJ in the Midday ninety
three to three kJ Rtham.

Speaker 5 (17:09):
You're listening to the exclusive home of the Huskies, the
Kraken and March Madness. Now back to Mark James MJ
in the Midday on Sports Radio ninety three point three KJRM.

Speaker 4 (17:23):
What's up, guys, is Rob from the two O six man?
This last series really proved me offense. We can score.
There's no problem on getting runs, but our recent pitching
lineup has not been hitting. I know we got some
guys out, but there's gotta be a better strategy. When
we got our top pitchers out of the lineup. They

(17:43):
got to get that together because now everyone's gonna be
healthy all season.

Speaker 6 (17:50):
MJ kid my guys, Happy Monday.

Speaker 4 (17:52):
MJ.

Speaker 6 (17:52):
Great nicks on the final four. Now to the Mariners.
Rowdy Tiles looks like he should be on my men's
softball team, not in the major leagues. If Donovan Solano
gets three point five million dollars to play, then me.
You can softy ean just purple seats. Anybody who's listening

(18:12):
in that station should all apply to sign up for
the Mariners.

Speaker 1 (18:15):
They're a joke.

Speaker 6 (18:16):
He's a joke.

Speaker 1 (18:17):
You gotta be kidding me.

Speaker 2 (18:20):
Oh appreciate, Keep them coming, Keep the Mariners rants coming
on the voice text line, go to the Ieart new
improved iHeartRadio app ninety three to three KGr. Hit the
microphone icon button. Boom right there. You can swear, do
whatever you want to do. But it's yeah, it's you
couldn't get off to a worst start. And I literally
said this. They said, the worst thing could happen. They

(18:41):
get off to a two and five start. Well, it's
even worse. They're three and seven in last place. So
need to win four of the next six against Houston
and Texas at home. Need to have to so text
line too early to panic? Question mark, question mark question mark.
This has been the same team for four years now

(19:01):
early this is year four. I'm over panicking.

Speaker 1 (19:04):
I'm just done.

Speaker 2 (19:06):
Somebody else in the four two five, it's never too early.
They did it to themselves. A lot of techs from
the four two five. I appreciate that I've been a
Mariners fan for fifty years. This year I can't bring
myself to watch. Ownership has lost me until they start
providing a quality product on the field. So you know

(19:26):
what's gonna be really interesting to look at, not only
how these next six games play out with Houston and
Texas in town, the attendance. Who's gonna come this week?
Tonight and tonight? The aces on the now logan Gilbert,
I want to see that attendance tonight and tomorrow and

(19:47):
then Wednesday at three ten, Well, I'll be live at
Jimmy's on first at the Silver Cloud Hotel Stadium, so
come on buy and say hello for ten to one
will be there, So it'll be interesting just to see
how the fair and I just from gauging the first

(20:08):
seven game homestand a lot of empty seats that series
against Detroit after opening Day, a lot of empty seats
on Friday and Saturday. So now I want to see
who's going to come and watch a last place team
during the week?

Speaker 1 (20:22):
Are you.

Speaker 2 (20:24):
Four nine four five one? You're gonna come to watch
this crap during the week? Just saying, and I think
if I had to put one word on the Mariners
besides this season being a fail or futility. I think
the one word that really pisses me off from the

(20:46):
fans point of view, and I understand where each and
every one of you are coming from because I'm on
your team. Okay, I'm with you on this, I'm with
you on everything. I always look at things. I don't
care how long I've been doing this and been lucky
enough to get paid to be a sports talk radio
host and make a living five days a week in

(21:08):
front of a microphone. I will always look at everything
through the prism and spectrum of the fans. Because without
the fans, pro sports teams cease to exist.

Speaker 1 (21:20):
They do not exist.

Speaker 2 (21:22):
Without listeners, sports talk shows and sports talk hosts do
not exist. In sports talk stations do not exist. So
I will always look at everything through your point of
view because I'm a fan, Okay, even though I'm new,
I look at it like and I'm just saying to
myself the one word that to me defines the Seattle

(21:49):
Mariners in the Gerard Depoto era with John Stanton Hubris. Hubris,
you see to me, and I've been able to glean
this after two months. I've only been here for eight weeks.
They feel it's your privilege to get to come to

(22:09):
T Mobile Park, and they can do whatever they want,
including spending ten and a half million dollars on Donovan Solano,
Jorge Polanco and whatever they paid for Rowdy Talez. Who oh,
I could have said any better. Kudos to the last
guy who left the voice text. He literally looks like
he should be on your Sunday slow pitch softball team

(22:34):
wearing the number sixty nine. He really does. He does
not look like a professional athlete at all. That's why
the best athletes play in the NBA. Yeah, you get
some guys every now and then that you'll get a
guy who's a little bit out of shape and that
you know, but they're tough and they and listen, you

(22:54):
can't be on an NBA roster with not being in
somewhat athletic shape.

Speaker 1 (22:59):
I know we've guys that have come through.

Speaker 2 (23:01):
Rest in peace to the big ol' Oliver Miller or
you know, I'm not saying Kendrick Perkins was out of.

Speaker 1 (23:06):
Shape, but he was. He was. He was a big boy.
He was a big dude.

Speaker 2 (23:09):
He was a big boy, right baseball, Rowdy Telez, you
look at that guy, and do you see professional athlete.
I don't I see a dude that should be playing
in the Sunday Slow Pitch Softball League and wearing the.

Speaker 1 (23:21):
Number sixty nine on the bat of his on the
back of.

Speaker 2 (23:24):
His jersey coming up to the plate, you know, just
just got done eating about you know, I don't know,
you know, probably eight pieces of chicken, and you know.

Speaker 1 (23:38):
And just like, hold on, you gotta hey, rowdy, you
got a bat? Now? Oh? Really, hold on?

Speaker 2 (23:42):
His hands are all dirty, you know, He's like, there's
just it's like, oh, I get he gets all that
on the bat, you know, and he's just out there and.

Speaker 1 (23:51):
Yeah, yeah, not exactly Pete Alonzo, is it right? Right?

Speaker 2 (23:56):
Not exactly Pete Alonzo. That's all right though. Hey you
got rowdy, d Lez. Why did you want Peter Alonzo?

Speaker 1 (24:04):
Huh?

Speaker 2 (24:05):
Why did you want the guy who is the all
time home runs leader in Met's history?

Speaker 1 (24:11):
Why you didn't need him?

Speaker 7 (24:12):
He got rowdy t Lez.

Speaker 2 (24:15):
I have to tell you, and I am so with
each and every one of you, all the fans here
on the Mariners, I am so with you on how
pissed off you are. And here's the worst part. Christopher Kidd,
who's born and raised here. He can back me up
on this because I've seen this in other markets. When

(24:37):
animosity turns into apathy, and when and the fans stop caring,
then you're in real trouble. And here's my thing. And
I've gone after Gerard Depoto. There's no you know I
have that is amazing. I not that I'm to believe you, Chris,

(24:59):
but like I'm looking at I'm like I had to
double check it. Pen Alonzo's ops is one point zero
six six.

Speaker 8 (25:07):
That is that is like Babe Ruth okay, And you
could have had him. You could have had him just
all you had to do. You didn't even have to
give them.

Speaker 2 (25:19):
You wouldn't have to give them what the marriage just
gave lad Guerrero or the Mets, you.

Speaker 1 (25:23):
Could have given them one hundred and fifty million.

Speaker 2 (25:26):
If you can't afford to give a player on that
ilk like Pete Alonzo one hundred and fifty million, then
sell the fin team. Sell it now, John Stanton. Just
sell because you're a poverty owner, not because you don't
have the money.

Speaker 1 (25:40):
It's even worse.

Speaker 2 (25:41):
It's because you do have the money and you choose
not to put it back into the team. Which is
what the fans invest their hard earned money towards. Sell
the team. Sell it if you don't want to do it.
There's plenty. What I mean, we have twelve fortune five
hundred companies here. Jedfish had the stat the other day
fifty four thousand millionaires. I would imagine we've got probably

(26:04):
in the triple figures of billionaires here in the Seattle market.
There's got to be more than one hundred billionaires here.
I'd venture to say there are probably more than that.
Somebody out there. Please make John Stanton an offer he
can't refuse. And I'm not talking the Godfather offer, although
a lot of you fans know what I'm talking about. No,
I'm talking about a financial godfather offer he can't refuse

(26:27):
because this is just ridiculous.

Speaker 1 (26:30):
It's horrible.

Speaker 2 (26:31):
And Pete Alonzo, I'm gonna tell you right now, just
like I told you, Florida's gonna be playing Houston tonight
three weeks ago before the tournament started.

Speaker 1 (26:37):
Peter A.

Speaker 2 (26:38):
Lonzo's gonna end up with about forty six to fifty
something home runs this season, and then he's gonna be
able to get that contract. He won't get a Wan
Soto deal. But he'll get close to maybe a Vlad
Guerrero deal coming up, he'll get that.

Speaker 1 (26:51):
I mean, you know, man, all.

Speaker 2 (26:54):
You needed was one guy, one guy, and you could
have had him because the Mets were bocking. They weren't
going to pay him what he wanted, and they didn't.
He came back to the Mets humbled with his tail
between his legs because Scott Boris, you know, completely screwed
him over like he did Bregman. And if you're not
gonna go after Pete a Lonzo, how about go after
a guy like Paul Goldschmidt who's with the Yankees now.

(27:18):
But to put out that fat Walrus rowdy Talz, I mean,
it's just embarrassing. It's embarrassing, and the Mariners are embarrassing
and all of you. And I said this the first
day I came on the air, on Monday, February tenth,
and I'm saying it today on Monday, April seven, two
months later. You deserve better, all of you. You put

(27:40):
your harder money. Seattle's the smartest city I've ever lived
in my entire life, Smarter than Boston. I know Boston
thinks that they're smarter, but they're not. They're just not.

Speaker 1 (27:50):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (27:50):
This is the smartest city I've ever lived in my life,
and the fans here deserve better than a freaking guy
batting point zero six seven.

Speaker 1 (27:59):
Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 2 (28:00):
How about that apples two of the three off season
signings that you brought in that weren't here last year,
that weren't here, one of those batting point zero sixty
seven and the others batting point zero seventy one.

Speaker 7 (28:14):
You couldn't do.

Speaker 1 (28:15):
You couldn't do worse than that. Great job, Gerard, great job.

Speaker 2 (28:20):
So interesting to see the attendance tonight will Logan Gilbert
on the Mound and tomorrow and on Wednesday at three
to ten. Interesting to see that attendance this week. And
then when the Rangers come to town, I'll tell you
better not go two and four on this homestand because
you're gonna see apathy set in Mariners, you're gonna see
it and people like, like I said, I'm at least

(28:40):
showing you know, the passion. But there's there's so many
I can't even read a fraction of the text that
we're getting into the text line because I'd be thrown
off the ear by the FCC most people, if they've
just given up, they're done, they're absolutely had it, and you.

Speaker 1 (28:57):
Don't want that to become a majority. To an animosity
turns into apathy. That is a place you do not
want to be.

Speaker 2 (29:08):
So to answer my question as it came into the segment,
am I hitting the panic button now? No? But I'm
getting very close. And if I was ownership and management,
I'd be hitting the panic button. How many Hello Kitty
Bucket hat nights are gonna you're gonna do? Huh?

Speaker 1 (29:28):
How many of those are you gonna do?

Speaker 2 (29:30):
Yeah, the bucket heead nights, the Hello Kitty bucketead nights,
you're gonna keep doing those. So it's getting close. MS,
I'm not hitting the panic button yet, but I'm a
little concerned and getting worried very quickly. All right, coming
up next, it's time. I you know, it's time. I've

(29:51):
gotten my picks and getting to you three weeks ago.
We'll go over everything tonight and do what do I like?
As the Houston Cougars are one half point underdog in
tonight's National championship game, we'll get to that. Keep the
text coming, voice text always open on the all new,
improved iHeartRadio app. Go to ninety three to three kJ

(30:11):
R and hit the microphone icon button. My picks the winners,
which I'm in a winning position tonight. I got most
on Houston and I hedged on Florida. I can't lose.
My pick's next right here on MJ in the midday
ninety three to three KJR.

Speaker 1 (30:26):
Tim, we're actually doing the fan base a favor.

Speaker 7 (30:38):
You serious, all right?

Speaker 2 (30:53):
So we got the national championship tonight. Yeah, we'll get
to the master's picks by the end of the week.
Don't like we'll get there. So one of the texts
is funny. I have to read this one from the
two h six rowdy to les is a Goodwill Red
Tag special first baseman who smells and has stains all
over him, but was a dollar ninety nine. No oh no,

(31:19):
that is uh oh man.

Speaker 1 (31:21):
He just looks so unkempt.

Speaker 2 (31:24):
He literally like when you look at him, does it
like when that guy walks in a room, do you
say professional athlete? It just doesn't. You should at least
try to look the part, shouldn't you.

Speaker 1 (31:35):
All right? So for those of you just joining us.

Speaker 2 (31:41):
Back on Wednesday, March eighteenth, the day before the actual
tournament began, not the first not I call it the
uh I call it the pre tournament, the first four
whatever they call it, I call it pre tournament. The
real tournament starts when they're sixty four teams. So I
had some predictions back when it started.

Speaker 1 (32:02):
Here they are. I love McNeese on the court.

Speaker 2 (32:06):
McNees on the court, twelve seed over number five Clemson.
I've taken them plus seven and a half and solo
bets and parlays, but I love their upset as well
on the court.

Speaker 1 (32:19):
Okay, there's one, all right, that was one.

Speaker 2 (32:22):
Now here's another clip from the day before the real
tournament started. If you want to make some money, you'll
listen to me coming up later this hour. I have
the winning bracket right here. As a matter of fact,
I'll tweet it out and you can go ahead and
copy it. You might as well go ahead and do
it right now. You'll win every office pool that you have.
This bracket is for sure, it's money in the bank

(32:44):
and your national champions I'll tell you this right now.
The national championship game will be the Houston Cougars versus
the Florida Gators. Kelvin Sampson versus Todd Golden will be
a great national championship. I have the Cougars cutting down
the nets for the first time in school history. But
if it doesn't go that way, I hedge my bet
on Florida, but I have the other two teams going
to the final four. Was gonna make it a three
team SEC final four. Didn't quite go there yet. We

(33:08):
will see what happens. But I've got the winning bracket
coming up later for you this hour. You're not gonna
want to miss that. Huh interesting? Wow, that's interesting. All right,
Let's hear the final clip Florida versus Houston in the
National Championship, and I have Houston cutting down the nets.

(33:29):
Of course, though I placed two futures on Houston and
Florida Florida as an insurance policy, so I get a
four figure payout in case Houston and Juwan Roberts falls
short against the Florida Gators. So your twenty twenty five
national champions will be the Houston Cougars.

Speaker 1 (33:50):
Oh miss.

Speaker 2 (33:51):
I have them getting to the sweet sixteen. They will
get by North Carolina. They will beat Iowa State because
the Cyclones are without their best player, Shawn Gilbert and
they will.

Speaker 1 (34:01):
Lose in the sweet sixteen to Michigan State.

Speaker 2 (34:06):
So there it is, by winning bracket, and I believe
KJR it is on the KJR Twitter handle has been
retweeted correct, so you can check out. It's right there
before the tournament begins, the day before the field of
sixty four. So how about them apples? What do you
think about that? Alabama, Michigan State, Florida and Houston with

(34:32):
the Cougars beating the Gators in the national championship.

Speaker 1 (34:36):
So there it is, there it is.

Speaker 2 (34:39):
You know that Tom Brady would always say when he
was part of the Patriots, what he would always say
was quote what we would do during the week. It
felt like we had the answers to the test on Sunday. Well,
I gave you to the winning picks, the answers to
March Madness three weeks ago.

Speaker 1 (34:56):
I hope you.

Speaker 2 (34:56):
Took them, because if you did, you should have won
a lot of money. And nobody, and I mean nobody
was at all on Houston on Saturday night, not even
with the five and a half.

Speaker 1 (35:12):
Nobody. There's one guy.

Speaker 2 (35:14):
How about that thing that I told you that in
the twenty four million brackets that were entered at ESPN,
nine percent had Houston beating Duke. Now I didn't enter
anything in the ESPN, but I guess I'm in the
sharp minority the nine percent who had Houston beating Duke

(35:35):
six point deficit. Duke get a six point lead with
thirty five seconds left and they lost by three. It's
you know, you just gotta kind of know what you're doing.
And if you stick with me and listen, I'll give
out picks on a daily basis I know, and a
lot of them don't hit. I'll be the first two

(35:57):
a minute. I'll come on the next day and I'll
tell you it didn't hit. But when I get it right,
like I did for this. I mean, Dick Fain had
Clemson going to sweet sixteen. They couldn't get by McNeice,
And I said, not only am by taking McNeice plus
the points, I took McNeese.

Speaker 1 (36:12):
On the money line, on the money line.

Speaker 2 (36:14):
How many people around here had that one? No one
but me, So I know what I'm doing. Who comes
to gambling? Just stick with me on this, all right?
Stick with me on this. We'll get to Master's picks
coming up. I promise you one of the other guys
we didn't get to play on Friday. I want to
play for next because he has an interesting perspective on

(36:37):
Gino Smith and Pete Carroll. He's the radio voice of
the Las Vegas Raiders. His name is Jason Horowitz, and
I'm gonna hit him on and you're gonna love what
I do. He's never seen anyone called his new quarterback
in Vegas that wears silver and black with the number

(36:58):
seven in Nordstrom Raqui quarterback. Well, I say that about
Geno Smith to Jason Horowitz, the voice of the Raiders.
So how does he feel and how do people in
Vegas feel that they basically become Seahawks.

Speaker 1 (37:11):
South now in the Sin City. We'll get to that.

Speaker 2 (37:14):
Jason Horowitz next on MJ in the midday on ninety
three to three KJRFM.
